Kim Kardashian under fire for her comments on parenting: ‘Kim has 4 nannies, one assigned to each kid’

    [ad_1]

On Jay Shetty’s ‘On Purpose’ podcast, Kim Kardashian recently opened up about the struggles of being a single mom to four kids.

Keeping Up With the Kardashian star Kim became a single parent to her four children: North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4, after her divorce with Kanye West. She talked about struggles of being a single mother to these children and received huge social media backlash for the same. Some fans even questioned how involved Kim Kardashian really is with her four kids. Here is everything to know about the same.

    Kim Kardashian getting slammed

Kim Kardashian was slammed by the social media users after she revealed in Monday’s episode of Jay Shetty podcast that being a single mother is very hard. People questioned Kim’s involvement in her children’s life and emphasized that being a billionaire they have all the help from nannies in contrast to an average woman.

One user commented, ‘She also talks as if she doesn’t have A FULL STAFF OF PEOPLE HELPING HER WTF’ while the other one wrote, ‘Kim has 4 nannies, one assigned to each kid. Motherhood is not hard. Nannies are raising her kids. She needs stop trying to act like she’s middle class’. Another user quipped, ‘So much fakeness and contrived drama in their lives. Has so much background help from nannies. Yiou [sic] would swear she does it all alone’.

Though some fans even came in Kim’s defense and said that the way she is loyal and dedicated to her friends and family is really beautiful.

    Kim Kardashian on motherhood

Kim Kardashian said that being a single parent she often cried herself to sleep at nights. The Kardashian star agreed that though parenting is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world, it is also one of the hardest jobs.

Kim Kardashian Admits She Cries Herself To Sleep Over Parenting Stress

    [ad_1]

Kim Kardashian is opening up about the “most challenging” parts of being a single mom.

“There are nights I cry myself to sleep. Like, holy shit, this fucking tornado in my house. Like, what just happened?” the reality star admitted in Monday’s episode of the “On Purpose with Jay Shetty” podcast.

Kardashian, who shares her four kids North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4, with rapper Ye (formerly known as Kanye West), got candid about how “parenting is the thing that has taught me the most about myself.”

Speaking about the difficulties of managing a household full of kids as a single parent, she added: “You know, with all the moods and the personalities and sometimes they’re fighting, and you know, there’s no one there. Like, it’s [just] me to play good police officer and bad cop.”

In a clip from the interview, the Skims founder said she sometimes has to take it “hour by hour” to “see if we’re going to survive” during particularly chaotic nights in her home.

“If a tantrum comes in, oh my God, your life is completely upside down,” she confessed. “But it teaches you so much more about yourself than I think anyone, any parent, could have ever anticipated.”

Despite the highs and lows of parenting, the TV star gushed that “it is the most rewarding job in the entire world,” though she emphasized there’s “nothing that can prepare you” for parenthood.

“Everyone says the days are long and the years are short, and that couldn’t be like a more true statement,” added the “Kardashians” star, who revealed that she’s working on being “a little bit firmer” with her kids.

“I mean, there’s nights when you don’t wash your hair for days as a mom and you have spit up all over you and you’re wearing the same pajamas, especially in COVID,” Kardashian recalled. “It was insane, you know?”

She then switched gears to dish out words of encouragement, saying of parenting that “you will figure it out, and it will make you so proud of yourself that you figured it out and that you got through the day.”

Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021 after more than seven years of marriage to Ye.

In December, she said it was “really fucking hard” co-parenting with the Grammy-winning artist, who has come under fire for several controversies, including praising Adolf Hitler and making antisemitic comments.

Sharing how she’s attempted to protect her children from their father’s negative publicity, Kardashian said at the time: “One day, my kids will thank me for not sitting here and bashing their dad when I could … They’ll thank me and I’ll privately answer anything that they want to know. But it’s not my place anymore to really jump in.”

  • What Are They Doing With All Those Yeezys?

What Are They Doing With All Those Yeezys?

    [ad_1]

Remember when Kanye West went on a tear and, in a series of cascading failures, alienated himself from the industry and lost all of his contracts?

After a series of controversial statements, a flop of a Paris Fashion Week show, and problematic behavior that culminated in an antisemitic rant…Kanye West’s unchecked platform was finally checked. One by one, industry players spoke up against him until finally, he lost his deal with Adidas — the seminal collaboration which birthed his Yeezy shoe product.

In the brand’s official statement, they said: “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect, and fairness.

After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products, and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.”

So, with Kanye gone, Adidas was left with the question: what the hell to do with all those Yeezys?

Since the collaboration’s first shoe was released in February 2015, Adidas x Yeezy was a force in the streetwear and sneaker industry. Especially after Ye released his own line Yeezy, the streetwear world began to imitate his vision. In 2020 Forbes described Yeezy’s rise as “one of the great retail stories of the century.”

And they were right — Ye’s impact in fashion cannot be denied. He even paved the way for designers like Virgil Abloh. But after making the statement that they were cutting ties with him, Adidas was at an impasse.

Therefore now, they’ve taken the stance we all knew they were going to take: they’re selling the shoes.

On Thursday, May 11 at an investors’ conference, CEO Bjørn Gulden announced that Adidas would: “sell parts of this inventory and donate money to the organizations that are helping us and that was also hurt by Kanye’s statements.”

The real reason for this decision: profits, allegedly.

Since halting the sale of the Yeezy line, the company took a $441 million hit in sales, according to their quarterly earnings report at the beginning of May.

So feign shock that a week later, they decided to just sell the shoes. And no one is surprised.

This is similar to the DC Universe doubling down on Ezra Miller as The Flash in anticipation of the film’s success. Despite Ezra’s own slew of controversial headlines, joint CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran instead said they would give an answer about Miller’s future “when the time is right.” We all know this meant “depending how the film performs,” especially since when pressed, they only offered the vague: “We’re figuring it all out.” It’s all a money game.

Adidas’s version of “figuring it out” is donating an undisclosed portion of the Yeezy sales to undisclosed charities. For them, this means they get to retain their moral high ground while getting a tax break for their donations. Win-win for a giant corporation!

Adidas plans to sell leftover Yeezy merch and donate proceeds to charity

    [ad_1]

Adidas has spent months trying to decide what to do with $1.2 billion worth of unsold Yeezy brand merchandise that has been piled up in its warehouses.

At one point, the company thought about torching all of it but that option never materialized, CEO Bjørn Gulden said this week.

“Burning is not the solution,” he said Thursday during the Adidas annual shareholders’ meeting.

Instead, Adidas will sell the leftover Yeezy stock and give the proceeds to charity.

“What we are trying to do now over time is to sell parts of this inventory and donate money to the organizations that are helping us and that were also hurt by Kanye’s statements,” Gulden said.

Gulden didn’t specify which organizations would get donations, but offloading the Yeezy products will finally close the book on the once lucrative relationship between Adidas and Kanye West, who legally changed his name to Ye.

    Adidas

Adidas’ collaboration with the Chicago native officially started in 2016, with the company at the time calling the clothing-and-shoe deal “the most significant partnership ever created between an athletic brand and a non-athlete.” But the relationship disintegrated last October after the German company severed ties with the rapper over antisemitic remarks he made on social media. Adidas’ decision to cut ties came after weeks of pressure from celebrities and others online urging the company to act.

Demand for Yeezy shoes among sneakerheads skyrocketed soon after Adidas made the announcement.

Yeezy products accounted for about 10% of Adidas’ annual revenue last year. In terminating the partnership, the company at the time predicted it would take a $246 million hit to its bottom line in the first year alone.

Adidas expects to lose another $1.3 billion in sales this year because Yeezy clothes and shoes will not be available, the company has said. A lack of Yeezy apparel will also reduce operating profit by $534 million, with the company projected to break even this year, Adidas said.

But losing the Yeezy products will not doom the company, analysts told CBS MoneyWatch in October. Analysts noted that Yeezy products made up only a small fraction of the roughly 300 million pairs of shoes the sportswear giant sells each year.

“Bigger picture, we believe Adidas remains one of the better positioned global athletic brands capable of benefiting from strong global athletic and athleisure trends along with enhanced efforts to address key consumer trends and to drive better long-term profitability,” Jonathan Komp, senior research analyst at Baird said in a research note at the time.

Investors filed a class action lawsuit against Adidas last month, alleging executives knew about Ye’s problematic behavior for years and stalled on ending the partnership. Within the personnel risk section of Adidas’ 2018 annual report, the company touted its commitment to having an equitable workplace “while failing to discuss how it routinely ignored extreme behavior from Kanye West,” according to the lawsuit, which represents people who bought Adidas stock between May 2018 and February 2023. Ye is not named as a defendant in the case.

  • Adidas still has $1.3 billion of Yeezy sneakers — and is trying to figure out what to do with them

Adidas still has $1.3 billion of Yeezy sneakers — and is trying to figure out what to do with them

    [ad_1]

It’s been nearly seven months since Adidas split with the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, and boxes of his popular Yeezy shoes are still piled up in warehouses.

The fate of 1.2 billion euros ($1.3 billion) worth of unsold Yeezy stock is weighing on the German sportswear company as it tries to engineer a turnaround from the loss of the lucrative sneaker line and the continued fallout over its former ties to Ye.

Adidas is “getting closer and closer to making a decision” on what to do with the sneakers and the “options are narrowing,” new CEO Bjorn Gulden said in a conference call Friday after reporting 400 million euros ($441 million) in lost sales at the start of the year.

But with “so many interested parties” involved in the discussions, no decision had yet been reached, he said.

Adidas is stuck with stacks of its flagship Yeezy brand shoes after ending its relationship with Ye in October over his antisemitic and other offensive comments on social media and in interviews.

Gulden, who became CEO in January after the Ye split, declined to say if destroying the shoes had been ruled out but that the company was “trying to avoid that.”

He has previously said other options have drawbacks: selling the sneakers would mean paying royalties to Ye, restitching them to remove the brand identification would be dishonest, and giving them away to people in need could lead to resale because of their high market value.

Gulden would not say how many pairs of Yeezy shoes that Adidas is stuck holding “because then the consumer would know how many we have and that could have an impact on demand.”

Losing the Yeezy brand is “of course hurting us,” Gulden said in a statement. The breakup will reduce earnings by 500 million euros this year if Adidas decides not to sell the remaining Yeezy stock, the Herzogenaurach-based company said.

Net sales declined 1% in the first quarter, to 5.27 billion euros, and would have risen 9% with the Yeezy line, the company said. It reported a net loss of 24 million euros, a plunge from a profit of 310 million euros in the same period a year ago.

Operating profit, which excludes some items like taxes, was down to 60 million euros from 437 million euros a year earlier.

Gulden said the results for the Adidas were “a little better than we had expected” as the company seeks to restart growth and move beyond the breakup with Ye. He called 2023 “a year of transition” on the way to “a better ’24 and a good ’25.”

The company faces other problems tied to the rapper. Investors sued Adidas  a week ago in the U.S., alleging the company knew about Ye’s offensive remarks and harmful behavior years before the split and failed to take precautionary measures to limit financial losses.

The lawsuit — representing people who bought Adidas securities between May 3, 2018, and Feb. 21, 2023 — pointed to 2018 comments where Ye suggested slavery was a “choice” and reports of Ye making antisemitic statements in front of Adidas staff.

The company said last week that it rejected “these unfounded claims and will take all necessary measures to vigorously defend ourselves against them.”

Ending the Ye partnership also cost Adidas 600 million euros in lost sales in the last three months of 2022, helping drive the company to a net loss of 513 million euros.

An operating loss of 700 million euros is possible this year, Adidas said, mostly due to the 500 million-euro hit it would take if it doesn’t sell the existing Yeezy shoes.

  • Investors sue Adidas over Kanye West Yeezy deal

Investors sue Adidas over Kanye West Yeezy deal

    [ad_1]

Investors have filed a class action lawsuit against Adidas, alleging executives knew about the problematic behavior of Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, for years before the company ended its partnership with the rapper.

Adidas cut ties with Ye in October after the rapper made a series of antisemitic remarks. In their suit, filed Friday, shareholders allege the company in 2018 knew about the risks of partnering with the rapper and failed to take precautionary measures to limit negative exposure.

“In the Personnel Risk section of the 2018 Report’s discussion of risk, the Company extolled its commitment to having an equitable workplace, and its strategic workforce management process, known as ‘People Strategy’, while failing to discuss how it routinely ignored extreme behavior from Kanye West,” according to the suit.

Adidas announced its partnership with Kanye West in November of 2013. The first Yeezys debuted in February of 2015. The shoes surged in popularity, even as the rapper came under fire in 2018 over remarks he made about slavery.

Last year, Yeezy accounted for about 10% of Adidas’ annual revenue, analysts told CBS MoneyWatch in October. In February, the company said it expects to lose $1.3 billion in sales this year because Yeezy clothes and shoes will not be available.

While former Chief Executive Officer Kasper Rorsted and Chief Financial Officer Harm Ohlmeyer are named in the suit, Ye is not named as a defendant.

CBS News has reached out to Adidas for comment.

  • Right-leaning social network Parler temporarily shuttered by new owner immediately after acquisition

Right-leaning social network Parler temporarily shuttered by new owner immediately after acquisition

    [ad_1]

The digital media conglomerate Starboard said Friday it purchased the conservative social media site Parler and will temporarily take down the app as it undergoes a “strategic assessment.”

“No reasonable person believes that a Twitter clone just for conservatives is a viable business any more,” Starboard said in a news release Friday announcing the acquisition.

The deal came months after another acquisition agreement with rapper Kanye West, legally known as Ye, collapsed in November.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed by either company. Parler said the deal was concluded on April 7.

Parler caters to right-wing, far right and libertarian voices and fashions itself as a platform with fewer rules in support of free speech. It was briefly booted off some platforms in 2021 due to its connections to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, and its user base remains small.

Starboard, formerly known as Olympic Media, was founded in 2018 and owns other conservative-leaning news sites. In a news release, Parler called it “the perfect home” for its brand and loyal users.

“The team at Parler has built an exceptional audience and we look forward to integrating that audience across all of our existing platforms.” Starboard CEO Ryan Coyne said in a statement.

Parler also said its CEO George Farmer will step down from his role. He will be replaced by Igor Shalkevich, the company’s chief development officer.

  • The New Gen Of Kar-Jenners: North West Is Starting A Skincare Line

The New Gen Of Kar-Jenners: North West Is Starting A Skincare Line

    [ad_1]

In between posting dance videos, chaotic lip syncs, and performing a social experiment on Ice Spice to fully imitate her, North West is certainly TikTok’s busiest nepo baby. At all hours of the day, you can find @kimandnorth alive on the app. Whether it be North forcing Kim Kardashian to do dances created by Charli D’Amelio or posting sped-up videos of Drunk Elephant products – it’s wild.

And nine-year-old North West isn’t the only child of the Kar-Jenner clan who has entered the TikTok world to give us even more unnecessary shots into the Kardashian lifestyle. There’s also an account for @pandkourt (Penelope Disick and Kourtney Kardashian). But perhaps we have given the two children
too much attention for the time being.

What happens when you give the nine-year-old daughter of ego-maniac Kanye West and ultimate influencer Kim Kardashian a couple of million followers on TikTok? That’s right, a skincare brand. The old axiom is “the devil works hard, but Kris Jenner works harder,” but you weren’t even
    ready for momager Kim Kardashian.

The Kar-Jenner’s have what Kris Jenner didn’t have at this age: the biggest following collectively on Instagram and enough influence to dictate trends moving forward. This means it’ll be a hell of a lot easier for them to get their children the same platform and force them into the spotlight as the Next Gen of the Jenners.

    Kim Kardashian has already
filed trademarks for both a toy and skincare line on North’s behalf. The skincare line will feature non-medicated skin preparations, moisturizers, lotions, creams, and cleansers with the possibility of products like serums, haircare, and bath products in the future. As for the toy brand, expect dolls and action figures with the possibility of educational toys.

It’s borderline insanity to think that North West will be pushing skincare products to nine-year-old girls. While I’m all for the “doing what makes you feel good” mentality, not every young girl needs to be thinking about what serum to use. But maybe it’s just me.

Maybe I grew up in a different time and all nine-year-olds absolutely
have to have a routine because all TikTokers have one. Who’s to say! But I do know this is the beginning of the end. Not only do we have Kim’s Skims, Khloe’s Good American, Kylie’s Kylie Cosmetics, Kendall’s 818 and Kourtney’s Poosh, but now we are adding the children’s brands into the mix.

    @kimandnorth#duet with @icespicee ♬ Ac r7sheed – rhy 🎸🍃 🕸️

A clothing trademark had already been registered for North in 2019, just the mere beginning of what I’m sure will be a long line of influencing from here on out. Not to mention rumored trademarks for Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott’s first child, Stormi Webster, and Penelope Disick have flown about. I’m sure Khloe’s not far behind with True.

I shouldn’t be as shocked as I am, considering North
loves a good skincare TikTok. Whether it be trying SKKN by Kim or her plethora of brightly packaged moisturizers, she is already an influencer in the making.

Who knows if North even pays attention to good ingredients – we know she has the money to afford top-notch skincare that isn’t necessarily accessible to the rest of us, so before you buy SKKN, or North’s impending skincare line, here are my recs:

      1. Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Retinol Serum
      2. Paula’s Choice Power Berry Serum
      3. The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser
      4. Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow AHA/BHA Toner

Drake releases controversial song ‘Search & Rescue’ featuring Kim Kardashian and Kanye West; LISTEN

    [ad_1]

Drake completely took his fans by surprise when he announced that his newest track Search & Rescue will be released on April 7, 2023. Fans were quite excited for this new spicy track as it also allegedly involves Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Drake’s new song is produced by Noah ’40’ Shebib, Bnyx, Wesley Curtis, and Lil Yachty. This solo track follows his January collaboration with Popcaan along with his two 2022 full-lengths Her Loss and Honestly, Nevermind. Drake also recently headlined the Dreamville Festival along with J. Cole in North Carolina. The rapper will soon begin his tour with 21 Savage in June.

Here is everything to know about the release of Drake’s controversial song Search & Rescue.

    Drake releases Search & Rescue

Drake’s Search & Rescue seems like a piano-laced and laidback track about finding love. Drake raps about what he is looking for in an ideal partner that includes ambition, patience, honesty, and trust.

With the release of this spicy new track song Search & Rescue, people think that new social media beef will soon be ignited between Drake and Kanye West. This is because the new single track of Drake also features Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian voice from the reality television show Keeping Up With Kardashians. In the featured audio, Kim can be heard saying, ‘I didn’t come this far, just to come this far and not be happy, remember that’.

After the stir amongst fans, Drake’s father Dennis Graham tweeted that the rapper is not trolling anyone and it is just a song.

Earlier during The Fry Yiy Show on the SiriusXM Radio station Sound 42 late last week, Drake also teased a portion of the song. Fans have braced themselves for Kanye West’s reaction to Drake’s Search & Rescue on Twitter.

Twitter Users Brace For Ye’s Reaction To New Drake Song That Samples Kim Kardashian

    [ad_1]

Drake, who trolled the internet with his “Previous Engagements” chain and got back at a social media heckler by following the man’s wife on Instagram, isn’t one to hold back any jabs.

Now, the “Certified Lover Boy” has seemingly reignited his feud with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, via a new song that features an audio sample of Ye’s ex, Kim Kardashian.

Last Friday, Drake teased the song, “Rescue Me,” on Sound 42’s “The Fry Yiy Show” on SiriusXM Radio. In the sampled clip, Kardashian has a candid conversation with her mom, Kris Jenner, about her decision to call it quits with Ye.

“I didn’t come this far, just to come this far and not be happy. Remember that,” the reality star says in the clip, which is from the series finale of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” in 2021.

Over the years, Ye and Drake have had several explosive exchanges, including when Ye slammed Drake for following Kardashian on Instagram in 2018.

But the two seemingly squashed their beef in 2021 after joining forces to perform together at the “Free Larry Hoover” benefit concert in the Los Angeles Coliseum.

Nonetheless, Twitter users went to town, speculating whether the two rap icons are back at odds or if Drake’s lyrics are being misinterpreted.

On Thursday, Drake added fuel to the fire after going viral yet again for posting the art for one of his upcoming songs, “Search and Rescue,” on Instagram. Fans quickly noticed the uncanny resemblance between Kardashian and the woman in the cover photo.

Kardashian and Ye, who share kids North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 3, tied the knot in 2014. The reality star filed for divorce in February 2021 after more than seven years of marriage.

  • Goodbye Trucker Hats: Harley-Davidson Is Entering High Fashion

Goodbye Trucker Hats: Harley-Davidson Is Entering High Fashion

    [ad_1]

The luxury retail market is no stranger to brands stepping out of their comfort zones and into the world of fashion. Think: Hermes switching from saddles to purses, Louis Vuitton pivoting from luggage to fashion, and more recently, Tiffany & Co. collaborating with Nike. And yes, sometimes it can work perfectly (LV)…but sometimes, it fails (Tiffany).

It’s the age-old question: should we branch out as a brand and sell our souls to the runway…or should we stick to what we know? For most brands, the answer is it’s worth a shot. And for Harley-Davidson, fashion isn’t as much of a stretch as you’d think.

You know the Harley logo, and you’ve seen the massive storefronts that apparently don’t just sell two-wheelers. You see, those ubiquitous trucker hats and baby tees embossed with that recognizable orange logo already make the motorcycle company a ton of cash. They did $270 million in clothing sales alone in 2022.

So it’s no surprise that they’re scaling up from logo trucker hats to make a real play at entering the fashion world. They even tapped former Yeezy co-creator Louise Goldin as Harley’s first-ever creative director to lead the way. Goldin’s genius aided the infamous Kanye “Ye” West in creating his siganture monochromatic streetwear that has been endlessly iterated by brands everywhere.

And now, Goldin will try her hand at appealing to a younger, trendier market with Harley-Davidson’s fashion moment. That’s right…they aren’t looking to reel in more 40-50-year-old predominantly male customers. It’s about a real shot at the fashion world, on runways and at Fashion Weeks everywhere.

The new wave of Harley-Davidson, titled “H-D Collections,” will feature elevated takes on the classic Harley look. Graphic tees, sleeker designs, and subtle logos are wrapped into a blend of chic streetwear and functional workwear. With Goldin’s expertise, the brand isn’t straying too far from themselves, while still leaping away from the gimmicky t-shirts with eagles on the front.

    H-D Collections

    Harley Davidson

And of course, there’s leather. It wouldn’t be a biker’s dream line if there weren’t a splash of black leather jackets and moto pants. The collection includes H-D Originals, which delves more into the graphic tee-side of Harley’s iconic look. It’ll also feature an authorized vintage program for the nostalgic Harley fan.

Another collection under the new Harley Davidson is Bar & Shield, which is Goldin’s most expensive line for the brand. Prices range from $95 t-shirts all the way up to $1,500 for those iconic leather jackets.

Goldin is known for using unique fabrics that aren’t mass produced by other brands quite yet. This makes her visions perfect for the new world of Harley-Davidson, especially because she was drawn to the engineering behind it all. Their values are similar, if for different reasons: Goldin sees the beauty in engineering fabrics…Harley sees the beauty in engineering bikes.

With an already solid foothold in the clothing world, it’s easy to see how Harley could go the wrong direction. Too many scorned traditionalist HD fans who feel isolated from the newer, younger crowd that Harley is trying to draw in. The “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality.

However, this could be the start of a new dynasty under Goldin’s reign. Goldin, a fashion nepo-baby in her own right who has worked with big names like Donatella Versace herself, whose collections have been worn by Rihanna and Katy Perry…pairing with the traditional motorbike giant Harley-Davidson can only mean big things for the brand.

Whereas the Nike x Tiffany collaboration failed to commemorate the brand’s roots; Harley-Davidson’s entrance into the fashion community remains classic, yet progressive.

Kanye West Claims He “Likes Jewish People Again” Thanks To Jonah Hill and ’21 Jump Street’

    [ad_1]

Disgraced former shoe salesman and rapper Kanye West has kept mum on social media since his business world fell apart late last year. That ended late Friday night/early Saturday morning when the College Dropout artist, who legally changed his name to Ye in late 2021, popped onto Instagram to declare that he liked Jewish people again.

Before you can say “uh, okay,” the man whose antisemitic comments and follow-up taunts to Adidas forced the company to drop his line of athletic wear explained what caused his change of heart: Jonah Hill’s performance in the 2012 comedy 21 Jump Street

Though West is a chronic deleter of social media posts, let’s take a look at this beauty while we still can. Like the Torah itself, it’s worth scrutinizing this line by line. (The image is taken from the British DVD/Blu-ray cover for some reason; note the 15 rating from the British Film Classification Office.)

    Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

“Watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump street made me like Jewish people again,” while a shocking statement, is fairly straightforward. West continues with, “No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people.” Even though this is entry-level humanity, it’s certainly a welcome expression of intelligence from West, who recently brought the vile white supremacist Nick Fuentes to hang out with Donald Trump, and told Alex Jones (!) that he loved Adolf Hitler

“No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is Jew,” is where it starts to get into the weird zone. Maybe I’ve just got my guard up (my name is Hoffman, after all) but it seems to me that West is using his self-professed pious Christianity as a get-out-of-jail-free card. It’s almost like a “hey, no matter what I do or say will ever stick to me because of this loophole.”

Additionally, if one has listened to many of West’s diatribes in the past (as, unfortunately, I have), you’ll hear an unusual rhetorical flourish of him never saying “a Jew” or even “Jewish.” It’s always just “Jew.” If it was once or twice, fine, but it feels to me like it is a linguistic decision (like Trump saying “Democrat party”) that is intended to have a little more sting.

West continued with, “Thank you Jonah Hill I love you.”

V.F. has reached out to Hill’s representatives to see if the actor-director had any comment. (Surely a “how is this meshuggenah’s Instagram my problem?!? Leave me alone!” would be an understandable response.)

21 Jump Street grossed $202 million at the worldwide box office back in 2012, and most would agree that it is an amusing motion picture. (V.F. did feel, at the time, that its reliance on “no homo!” humor was not its finest attribute.) In addition to Hill, it co-starred Channing Tatum, Brie Larson, Rob Riggle, and Ice Cube. The wacky update of the more straightforward (though still silly!) teen cop drama from the 1980s was the first live action project from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and was enough of a hit to inspire a sequel. Hill has a shared “story by” credit on the film.

  • The World Revolves Around Rihanna

    The World Revolves Around Rihanna

    [ad_1]

On February 12, Rihanna took the stage for the first time since 2016 to perform at the highly coveted Super Bowl Halftime Show. Sporting a red jumpsuit and exposing her baby bump – the world’s best kept secret for the past few months – our Fenty queen quite literally emerged from the sky. Opening with her single “Bitch Betta Have My Money,” it didn’t take long for the world to understand that Rihanna is back.

Rumors began to swirl weeks prior to her Super Bowl performance: who would she bring out as a special guest? What would she wear? Where will A$AP Rocky fit into all of this? Will she finally reveal new music?

Some viewers expressed disappointment in the lack of movement from Rihanna herself. Since previous acts like Beyonce were known for elaborate dance numbers, people were wondering where all the pizazz was.

My answer? You try being suspended in mid air with no restraints or support, performing for a crowd of millions of television viewers, oh, and being
months pregnant. Even when she’s on the ground, how much movement do you need her to be doing? She’s. Pregnant.

She has famous collaborations with both Jay-Z and the defamed Kanye West on “Run This Town,” as well as Calvin Harris with “We Found Love.” And let us not forget the Drake saga with “What’s My Name” and “Work.” But Rihanna doesn’t necessarily
need anyone to come and guest star for her. She’s Rihanna: always the main event, no backup needed.

Rihanna will do what she wants, when she wants. And being that she is the undisputed ruler, we have to accept.

One of the more controversial tidbits of a Super Bowl Halftime performance show is that the artists don’t typically get
paid. While the NFL is a billion dollar industry, it does err on the side of strange that they can’t shell out a few million for their performers – especially when Rihanna garnered 118.7 million viewers – 5 million more than the actual game – and the second most watched Halftime performance ever.

The NFL argues that the performer gets more exposure, and thus sales. With such a huge platform like the Halftime Show, they aren’t necessarily wrong.

The world welcomed Rihanna back with open arms. Ever since the performance, she has skyrocketed back into popularity (not that she ever left), topping the charts with no new album or single.

Since then, Billboard reported Rihanna earned her biggest streaming week ever following the Super Bowl – up 150% with
166 million streams. She became the seventh act in the last 50 years to chart five albums in the top 50 on the Billboard 200 simultaneously, ANTI being in the top 10. She’s the sixth most-streamed artist globally on Spotify with 77 million monthly listeners.

Her Fenty Beauty brand has once again been selling out online after a quick flash of her
Invisimatte Instant Setting + Blotting Powder during her set. Searches rose 833% following her performance. The impact of her performance was gargantuan: she became the number one most streamed artist, gained 3 million Instagram followers, and sold out products like her Plush Puddin’ Lip Mask. It earned Fenty $5 million in Media Impact Value alone.

She’s now the face of the most recent
British Vogue issue alongside A$AP Rocky and her son. Inside, she teases that not releasing music this year would be ridiculous. The question is, do we believe her? And are we ready to get hurt again?

  • Rihanna Gets Through the Halftime Show

Rihanna Gets Through the Halftime Show

    [ad_1]

For those wondering if Rihanna “ate” at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, the expression feels especially pointed considering most were curious as to whether Ri was sporting a food baby or an actual one inside her stomach as she materialized on a platform suspended in midair to deliver her first “live” performance since the 2018 Grammy Awards, where she was obviously able to move much more lithely as she cameo’d onstage for DJ Khaled’s rendition of “Wild Thoughts.” Back then, she was feeling an all-pink look—specifically an Adam Selman dress with 275,000 crystals sewn in and a complementing flower placed behind her ear. For this year’s unexpected reemergence, the color of choice was period red, as it has been for quite a few lately. Namely, Doja Cat at the Schiaparelli show during Paris Fashion Week and Sam Smith and Kim Petras during their Grammys appearance (you know, the one that allowed Madonna to cause such an uproar).

From the moment Rihanna “arrived,” it was clear she was making no attempt to foil the public’s speculation by not only rubbing her belly “nurturingly,” but also accentuating the bump with a red Loewe jumpsuit zipped down to just below her stomach, allowing it to better protrude with a form-fitting red bodysuit underneath—capped off by a red bra plate. It was decidedly “apocalypse chic.” And, no doubt, Rihanna might be raising both of her children in just that type of climate… not that it will much matter to a billionaire who can better “shield” her spawns from most people’s reality. In that rich person’s vein, Rihanna opted to open the show with “Bitch Better Have My Money,” which all of her fans have responded to in the affirmative by continuing to support her non-musical endeavors in the form of Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty.

Interpolations of “Phresh Out the Runway” briefly punctuated Rihanna pantomiming the “dirt off her shoulders” move as she then segued into “Where Have You Been” from 2011’s Talk That Talk intermixed with hints of “Cockiness (Love It)” from the same album. A.k.a. the song that has an A$AP Rocky remix featuring such increasingly canceled lyrics as, “Tell RiRi I go re-retarded on the remix” and “Cuckoo for your cocoa/Your flying fish is my favorite dish.” Sticking with the sonic theme of the Calvin Harris-oriented dance sound of the 2010s that solidified Rihanna as a reigning queen of the charts, she then transitioned into “Only Girl (In the World).” Which at least wasn’t co-produced by Dr. Luke (like “Where Have You Been” was, among other tracks on Talk That Talk). But Rihanna couldn’t stay away from Talk That Talk too long as she went back to said album to perform its seminal single, “We Found Love,” as fireworks burst forth from the, um, State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. And yes, it feels slightly like a troll on Rihanna’s part to say, “We found love in a hopeless place” at a football game. With hints of “S&M” thrown in, there was a moment where Rihanna let the microphone fall away from her mouth and cease to bother “hiding” that certain portions were lip synced with as little care as she “hid” her baby bump. But this is a maneuver she’s no stranger to, having also noticeably done it during a medley of her songs at the 2016 MTV VMAs (of which this performance slightly echoes, in addition to coming across like another Savage X Fenty fashion show clip).

It was throughout “We Found Love” that Rihanna employed the use of her eighty backup dancers for optimal effect, mimicking something out of the Never Been Kissed playbook when The Denominators, led by Aldys (Leelee Sobieski), show up to the prom in white jumpsuits as double helix DNA (the prom theme being “Made for Each Other”). While the dancers go all in on the choereo as a “Rude Boy” remix then plays, the camera eventually moves through them to reveal Rihanna lip syncing the signature line, “Come here rude boy boy, is you big enough?” A$AP has clearly answered in the confirmatory based on the presence of bébé numéro deux. A quick mention of “kiss it better” and Rihanna keeps the TikTok attention span pacing consistent as she subsequently offers up 2016’s “Work” (which Drake likely watched with a tear in his eye), the lead single from her last album, ANTI. “Wild Thoughts” followed as Rihanna taunted, “I don’t know if you could take it/I know you wanna see me nakey, nakey, naked.” A line that felt tongue-in-cheek in its goading nature… considering how clothed she was and how few people want to see a pregnant woman naked unless they have some kind of fetish. She then walks the runway flanked by her dancers while they actually dance as she takes it relatively easy. This isn’t shaming Rihanna (the only thing she should be ashamed of here is reneging on her original stance about the NFL) for knowing her limitations while pregnant, so much as a confirmation of her need to lean even further on the available “diversion” smokescreens of a live performance that lend it more flair than there actually is. This being more pronounced because she couldn’t participate as much in her condition.

After “Wild Thoughts,” Rihanna gave a brief snippet of “Birthday Cake” (because, again, she clearly favors Talk That Talk) before leading the audience into “Pour It Up,” the non-kid-friendly track that reinforces, among other damaging messages of pro-capitalism, “All I see is dollars signs” and “Money make the world go ‘round.” Once upon a time, Ye knew that was true as well—before he blew it all up for the sake of going on one too many anti-Semitic rants. Although presently invisible to the likes Jay-Z (who, surprisingly, did not join Ri onstage at any point for “Run This Town”), Rihanna is no stranger to legitimizing controversial people, as she recently did with Johnny Depp for the Savage X Fenty Vol. 4 fashion show. That said, she felt obliged to throw in something of a non sequitur track after “Pour It Up”: “All of the Lights.” Which was not a Rihanna song, but a Kanye one from 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy featuring Kid Cudi and the Super Bowl headliner in question. It seemed like a “dog whistling” way to pay homage to Ye, as though she was saying, “I know you’re still out there.”

That message persisted when she transitioned into “Run This Town,” a Jay-Z song from 2009 that featured, of course, Rihanna and, you guessed it, Kanye. At the time, Jay had proudly declared of the song’s title, “We basically run this town. It’s myself, Rihanna and Kanye. It’s pretty much it.” In the present, it’s clear that neither of the three do (Rihanna making that apparent with this ultimately “phoning it in” performance, complete with “flexing” by briefly stopping to reapply some makeup from her own line). What’s more, Rihanna couldn’t help but come across as though she was ripping off Jay-Z’s wife with the pregnancy serve, for, like Beyoncé at the 2011 MTV VMAs alluding to her “with child” status by announcing at the beginning of “Love On Top,” “I want you to feel the love that’s growin’ inside of me,” Rihanna “unwittingly” gave new meaning to her lyrics from “Diamonds” (preceded by the penultimate track, “Umbrella”) at the end of the show. For instead of saying, “I saw the life inside your eyes,” she sort of just incoherently trails off after “inside.” And yes, the entire audience saw the life inside of her while she performed somewhat lifelessly (despite the expected ass-licking accolades from various media outlets that remind one of the age-old Ambular query: “Hello? Am I the only one who thought it reeked?”). And one does question how much she values the life inside if she was willing to perform on a precarious, visibly teetering platform raised, at times, sixty feet in the air. Then again, breaking a contractual obligation with the NFL sounds far more dangerous.

Additionally, it was also in the spirit of Beyoncé, who relied on the bells and whistles of a lot of backup behind her at the VMA performance where she made her pregnancy public, that Rihanna enlisted the scores of dancers dressed in white, hazmat-esque jumpsuits to do more of the heavy lifting that her own body oughtn’t be doing at this time. The illusion of “fanfare” was also added to by the constantly moving, suspended-in-the-air platforms that were an innovative technique designed to minimize “alterations” to the stadium’s grass. So no, it wasn’t about creativity, so much as practicality and serving the God of Football.

Thus, what Rihanna did for the Halftime Show, in essence, was act like a billionaire, delegating most of the responsibility to others (manifest during a moment when she stands in front of all her agilely gyrating dancers during “Work” in the “overseeing pose”) to make the final product appear as though she had “carried it off.” Which is all the performance did: “passed.” As such, there was nothing truly memorable about the show other than Rihanna’s reliance on the “party trick” of happening to be pregnant at the same time the event coincided.

  • Kanye West Has Fueled a Flurry of Antisemitic Hate on College Campuses

Kanye West Has Fueled a Flurry of Antisemitic Hate on College Campuses

    [ad_1]

Since concluding his antisemitic, pro-Hitler hate spree late last year, Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, has notably receded from public view. But support for his white supremacist rhetoric has continued to reverberate across the country, particularly on college campuses, where students have witnessed banner drops, vandalism, campus flyers and even targeted harassment, according to a new report from the Anti-Defamation League. The Jewish civil rights group compiled at least 25 antisemitic incidents referencing Ye, some of which span as far back as October, when the celebrity first threatened to go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.”

According to the report, two far-right activists—Tyler Russell and Dalton Clodfelter—have reportedly launched a campus ”road trip” tour in recent weeks, bandying the slogan ”Ye is right” as a way of endorsing the rapper’s antisemitic views. Last month, the pair set up a table at Florida Atlantic University, where they unfurled a banner that read “#YeIsRight. Change my mind,” according to The Palm Beach Post. They then asked student passersby whether they “love Hitler,” spouted conspiracy theories about the Holocaust, and endorsed Ye’s 2024 presidential bid––a campaign the rapper launched with the aid of an outspoken Holocaust denier. Russell and Clodfelter, who film their arguments with students and post them online, hosted a similar event at Florida State University and a message promoting their tour was found chalked onto a University of Alabama sidewalk.

The duo isn’t the first to promote Ye’s antisemitism across university grounds. On October 11, days after Ye’s “death con 3” tweet and nearly two months before he praised Hitler on Infowars, the words “Kanye was right” and “Defcon III” were found scrawled on a University of Wisconsin-La Crosse sidewalk. Two weeks later, phrases like “Kanye West is right” and “Kill All Jews” were likewise etched onto the bathroom wall of a Newport Beach, California high school alongside three swastikas, according to the ADL. In the ensuing weeks, the report noted, a Jewish community center in New York and a Jewish cemetery in Illinois were also vandalized with variations of “Kanye is right.”

Meanwhile, several Jewish-owned businesses, Holocaust centers, and synagogues have been subject to harassment from Ye supporters. In November, an anonymous caller phoned a Jewish-owned restaurant in Los Angeles asking for “the Kanye special” while proclaiming “Death to all the Jews,” per the ADL. And on December 2, one day after Ye told Alex Jones “I like Hitler,” the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh reportedly received a call from someone who identified themselves as “Kanye West” and stated, “I hate all Jewish people. All of them must burn and die. I love Hitler. I love Hitler.”

Jonathan Greenblatt, the CEO of the ADL, said in a statement to Vanity Fair that Ye’s antisemitism is “inspiring people to commit real-world acts of hate,” adding that “celebrities and others who engage in spreading hateful tropes need to know their words have consequences.”

The “Kanye is right” slogan first rose to prominence in October, when the Goyim Defense League, a white extremist group, dropped a banner with the slogan above a Southern California overpass. Later that month, the phrase “Kanye is right about the Jews” was projected onto a building above a Jacksonville, Florida football stadium during a game attended by tens of thousands of fans.

However, even before Ye’s outbursts, antisemitism had been on the rise in the US for some time. The ADL recorded more antisemitic incidents in 2021 than in any other year since it first began tracking harassment, vandalism, and violence in 1979. Recent years have also seen a spike in notable white supremacist organizing and violence, including the Tree of Life synagogue shooting in 2018, where 11 worshippers were allegedly killed by an antisemitic conspiracy theorist.

Adidas drops Kanye West after antisemitic remarks

Adidas drops Kanye West after antisemitic remarks

    02:12

The rapper formerly known as Kanye West told the world last year that he lost $1 billion after severing a partnership with Adidas. Now it turns out Adidas stands to lose even more.

The German sportswear brand expects to lose $1.3 billion in sales this year because Yeezy clothes and shoes will not be available, the company said Thursday. A lack of Yeezy products will also reduce operating profit by $534 million, with the company projected to break even this year, Adidas said.

“The numbers speak for themselves. We are currently not performing the way we should,” CEO Bjørn Gulden said in a statement. “2023 will be a year of transition to set the base to again be a growing and profitable company.”

The warning about revenue loss sent Adidas’ stock price for a tumble Friday, falling 11.5% to $138.50 a share. Its stock has fallen 45% since the beginning of this year.

Adidas ended its clothing-and-shoe deal with West, who now goes by Ye, last October after the rapper made antisemitic remarks on social media. Adidas faced pressure to cut ties with Ye, with celebrities and others online urging the company to act.

Yeezy accounted for about 10% of Adidas’ annual revenue last year and terminating the deal put a $246 million hit in its bottom line. But losing the Yeezy products will not doom the company entirely, analysts told CBS MoneyWatch in October.

“We need to put the pieces back together again, but I am convinced that over time we will make Adidas shine again,” Gulden said. “But we need some time.”

Adidas’ deal with the Chicago native officially started in 2016, with the company at the time calling it “the most significant partnership ever created between an athletic brand and a non-athlete.”

Ye first said he wanted to leave Adidas last June, when he accused the company of launching a shopping event called Yeezy without his knowledge. He will continue to own Yeezy, which he launched in 2016, as well as control trademarks for the brand.

Ye’s controversial remarks also led to break-ups from other major brands. He ended a deal with Gap last year and the company soon after removed Yeezy Gap products from its stores and website.

  • Grammys Moments: A rap tribute for the ages, Beyoncé triumph

Grammys Moments: A rap tribute for the ages, Beyoncé triumph

    [ad_1]

As he accepted an innovator’s award named for him, Dr. Dre mused about what he had in common with many of the people he saw from the Grammy Awards stage.

“Where would a lot of people in here be without hip-hop?” the r enowned rapper, producer and entrepreneur said.

The 2023 Grammy Awards may ultimately be remembered as the year the music industry’s top event tried to embrace rap, whose leaders have regarded the institution with suspicion for almost as long as the 50 years of history that were celebrated on Sunday.

It was only four years ago that song of the year winner Childish Gambino boycotted the show over perceived disrespect for rap. Kanye West and Eminem were among past stars with groundbreaking work overlooked for more middling fare and, for years, rappers complained their work was banished from TV.

The 15-minute Questlove-curated travel through time was a joy that brought dozens of stars to the stage, including Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Ice T, Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah, Method Man, Salt-N-Pepa … the list goes on, and still there were those you wished were there.

Nearly as important was the eight-minute version of DJ Khaled’s “God Did” that closed the show — Khaled took public note of the length — that featured a spellbinding appearance by Jay-Z.

Quavo’s tribute to Takeoff of Migos was arguably the highlight of a packed and memorable “in memoriam” segment to artists who died over the past year.

Kendrick Lamar gave an incisive acceptance speech after “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers” won a Grammy for best rap album, his third trophy in this category.

It was a night it seemed the Grammys finally accepted rap as music’s dominant form. Will rappers finally accept the Grammys? That remains to be seen.

    QUEEN BEY’S HAUL

Beyoncé took a place in history on Sunday when her four Grammys gave her a career total of 32, better than anyone else.

    And yet…

The Grammys have a clear pecking order, with four of its awards the most prestigious: song, record and album of the year, and best new artist. Beyoncé has won only one of those awards, when “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” was named top song in 2010.

She’s been nominated eight times for record of the year, and never won. Her most memorable Grammy moments came when two peers stood onstage with their own trophies and saluted her: when A dele said Beyonce’s “Lemonade” should have won instead of her in 2017, and Sunday when Lizzo spoke of skipping school in fifth grade to see Beyoncé perform.

Thirty-two trophies. It’s still hard to shake an empty feeling.

    TRIVIA QUESTION

Whose record did Beyoncé beat? That would be classical conductor Georg Solti.

    RAITT’S TRIUMPH

It may take Bonnie Raitt a few days to lose that look of shock. The 73-year-old guitarist won best song for “Just Like That,” a piece inspired by a story of a heart transplant, where she tried to emulate the writing style of the late John Prine. It was especially gratifying because Raitt is more of an interpreter. “I don’t write a lot of songs, but I’m proud that you appreciate this one,” she said. It was 33 years after “Nick of Time” was named album of the year.

    NOAH’S NIGHT

Show host Trevor Noah skillfully played the role of a fan, instead of serving snark from the stage, moving through the audience “like a floating Chinese balloon,” he said. And why not? With Adele, Lizzo, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles and the like around, there was plenty of star power. Noah was neither insulting nor obsequious. And one delightful device — having fans talk about their favorite albums — paid off when a memorable grandma got to announce Styles’ album of the year win.

    HARRY’S STYLE

OK, while he was performing “As it Was” Styles was dressed a little like one of those holiday tinsel decorations you thought you’d put away. The smooth pop composition clearly served him well. Later, he marveled at the quality of the competition and how hard it is to pick a winner. “You never know with this stuff,” he said backstage. “I don’t think you can look at any of the nominees and not feel as if they’re deserving. I’m really grateful they chose us.”

    PETRAS’ MOMENT

In accepting a Grammy for her duet on Sam Smith’s “Unholy,” Kim Petras proudly took note of her status as a transgender woman and paid tribute to heroes like the late transgender singer Sophie and Madonna. The latter returned the favor by introducing a performance of the song. Petras and Lizzo, who won record of the year for “About Damn Time,” made strong, joyful statements about accepting differences. “I felt on the outside looking in and I stayed true to myself because I wanted to make the world a better place,” Lizzo said.

    INTRODUCING…

One element that worked less well was an effort to have family or friends introduce performances. You lose the idea of “real people” when Madonna is one of the choices. The best was the first — Catherine Shepherd, the proud wife, and the two children of Brandi Carlile (the kids also debuted in a hotel ad). “I’m a very, very lucky queer,” Carlile said backstage.

    WHY AM I HERE?

The Rock as one of the Grammy presenters? Jill Biden? James Corden? At least the outgoing talk show host noted the incongruity of him giving an award for dance and electronic music. There’s enough musical firepower in the room that would surely relish the opportunity to present an award. And while we’re asking why someone was there, Ben Affleck turned himself into an unwanted internet star when the camera panned to him in the audience and it seemed like he’d rather be anywhere else. Don’t actors know how to fake looking like they’re having a good time?

Police Investigating After Kanye West Is Filmed Grabbing Woman’s Cell Phone

    [ad_1]

An irritated Ye — formerly known as Kanye West — was caught on video when he apparently snatched a woman’s cell phone from her hands as she photographed him from inside her car and hurled it into the street.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to a number of publications that Ye was under investigation for alleged battery after the office received a complaint about the confrontation on Friday.

Ye left the area before sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, TMZ reported.

The unidentified woman and West, who had been traveling in his car, were both stopped at a stoplight in Newbury Park in southern California when the rapper approached the woman’s vehicle.

    “I wasn’t running,” she answers.

She continued to hold her phone up and photographed West as he demanded, “Stop with your cameras.”

“I know, but, Kanye, you’re a celebrity,” she said. Before she could finish her sentence, West yanked the phone from her hands and hurled it into the street.

He then returned to his SUV and drove off, TMZ reported.

No one was injured in the confrontation, and there were no arrests as of late Friday, reported The Ventura County Star.

Responses from Twitter followers were split, with some saying fans should leave him alone, and others saying people are free to photograph whom they please.

Kanye West Reportedly Under Investigation for Battery

    [ad_1]

Kanye West, the disgraced former shoe salesman and dinner companion of Holocaust-denier Nick Fuentes, is reportedly under investigation for battery following an encounter on Friday, according to TMZ

A widely circulated video showed West leaving his daughter’s basketball game and becoming irritated with the paparazzi. In a first engagement, he argues with a man, essentially begging for privacy. From behind his camera phone, the man reminds Ye (which is Kanye West’s legal name) that he’s in a public place, and suggests that if he wants to be with his kids, he should do so at home.

“It’s called human rights,” West responded.

Later, he approaches a woman in a car, who reminds him that “he’s a celebrity.” He then grabs her phone and tosses it into the street.

Deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department were called to the scene at around 4:30 pm, and a source told the outlet that he was the “named suspect in a battery investigation.”

Earlier this month, Kanye reportedly married Bianca Censori, the “head of architecture” for West’s Yeezy brand. Yeezy lost its clothing and sportswear distribution last year after he went on a series of podcasts and made controversial statements. “I can say antisemitic things, and Adidas can’t drop me,” he said, before Adidas dropped him

The wedding was a private ceremony in Beverly Hills, though at the time there was no legal marriage certificate involved. The pair honeymooned in Canyon Point, Utah, at the Amangiri resort, where the average suite goes for $5,000.

More recently, Ye’s former law firm was told that they needed to do more than place an ad in the paper to let the musician know that he’s been dropped as a client. The firm of Greenberg Traurig had been representing Ye in a lawsuit concerning an allegedly unlicensed music sample. The firm, however, decided to part ways with their client (as did other firms) following his recent controversy. They have been unable to make contact with him, however, to tell him the news, claiming in court that he had changed his telephone numbers and has evaded process servers. Maybe these lawyers can work out a deal with the paparazzi who seem to know how to find him?

V.F. reached out to representatives for West and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and did not immediately hear back.

Australia Could Deny Kanye West Entry Over Antisemitism, Official Says

    [ad_1]

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) — A senior Australian government minister said Wednesday that rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, could be refused a visa due to antisemitic comments if he attempts to visit Australia.

Education Minister Jason Clare was responding to media reports that the U.S. celebrity intends to visit the family of new Australian partner Bianca Censori in Melbourne next week.

Clare said he did not know if Ye had applied for a visa but that Australia has previously refused them to people with antisemitic views.

“I expect that if he does apply, he would have to go through the same process and answer the same questions” as others who’ve aired such views, Clare told Nine Network television.

Last month, Ye praised Hitler in an interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Twitter later suspended Ye after he tweeted a picture of a swastika merged with the Star of David.

Australia’s Migration Act sets security and character requirements for non-citizens to enter the country. Any decision on whether Ye gets an Australian visa would be made by Immigration Minister Andrew Giles, whose office said he could not comment on individual cases due to privacy reasons.

Peter Wertheim, co-chief executive officer of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, met government officials on Tuesday to argue for an entry ban.

“We had a sympathetic hearing,” Wertheim said on Sky News. “We’ve made the case that this particular individual does not meet the character test and that it would be in the national interest not to grant him a visa and we set out our reasons in some detail.”

Opposition leader Peter Dutton said if he were in government, he would be inclined to bar Ye on character grounds.

“My inclination would be not to allow him in,” Dutton told Melbourne’s Radio 3AW on Tuesday.

“His antisemitic comments are disgraceful, his conduct and his behavior is appalling, and he’s not a person of good character,” Dutton added.

Ye and Censori intend to visit her family who live in the northeast Melbourne suburb of Ivanhoe next week, Seven Network News reported.

Ye and Censori recently married less than two months after he finalized his divorce from Kim Kardashian, entertainment news website TMZ reported two weeks ago.

The AP asked Ye’s representative whether he had married Censori and planned to visit Melbourne, but did not get an immediate response.
