  • She’s The Man!

    She’s The Man!

They’d say I hustled, put in the work

They wouldn’t shake their heads and question how much of this I deserve

What I was wearing, if I was rude

Could all be separated from my good ideas and power moves

    Taylor Swift, “The Man”

    When
Barbie premiered in July, women felt seen in the cinema — perhaps for the first time in a long time. Greta Gerwig’s Barbie was more than a beginner’s feminist manifesto, but also a meditation on what it means to be both a woman and mother in today’s world. It was a gentle reminder that maybe we’re all just trying our best — and that our best is enough.

It also encouraged women celebrate each other more.
The Barbie effect had us all wearing pink, emulating Margot Robbie’s cowboy-chic style, and referring to men as our “Kens.” And with help from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, her friendship bracelets, and sense of community, women were winning. It’s the first year in history that women dominated the Billboard Hot 100 twice (thanks to Swift and her Midnights and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album). Like I said, it’s a good year to be a woman.

This celebration of women and our successes is long overdue, but the promising news is that it isn’t slowing down.
Barbie’s feminist wave has shifted how we are accepting ourselves (and others) as women.

So it’s no surprise that women are raking in awards this year too, dominating the Grammy nominations and more. We hail celebrities for all sorts of achievements: Patrick Dempsey is
People’s Sexiest Man Alive (deserved), Taylor Swift is the world leader (they literally projected her welcome onto Christ the Redeemer), and Austin Butler is Best Elvis (because somehow we have multiple).

And one of the buzziest celeb awards is run by
GQ (short for Gentlemen’s Quarterly), whose “Men Of The Year” award is a highlight of every fall/winter. Similar to TIME’s 100 list, GQ likes to celebrate those who have taken the world by storm annually.

This year, the recipient of the Man of the Year award is none other than
    Kim Kardashian…and they’re not wrong.

Kim has been taking her empire to new heights in 2023: building on the 2022 launch of her
SKKN-care line, breaking ground with Skims’ Men’s campaign, the Nipple Bra, and becoming the official partner of the NBA/WNBA, working on prison reform, filming The Kardashians on Hulu, starring alongside Emma Roberts in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story as Siobhan Corbyn, I could go on.

Calling someone “the man” has now become synonymous with “a winner.” Saying “you’re the man” is a sign of their success. And though this might have problematic roots, women are reclaiming the term — like the Taylor Swift song.
And in the grand scheme of things: Kim Kardashian is the man.

Some hard working men get the title alongside Kim in the
GQ issue. The other MOTY honorees include Jacob Elordi (AKA Elvis #2, who’s starring in blockbusters like Sofia Coppolla’s Priscilla and Saltburn alongside Barry Keoghan), Buffalo Bills’ safety Damar Hamlin, designer-turned-filmmaker Tom Ford, and Travis Scott. But you have to admit that Kim hasn’t come up for air this year.

It’s right there for us to see in episodes of
The Kardashians: Kim flying from country to country for another event on her booked and busy schedule. She’s literally everywhere at once, officiating recently divorced Chris Appleton and Lukas Gage’s wedding, shooting countless magazine covers and promo shoots for her growing enterprise, opening a Skims popup here, and shooting an episode of AHS there.

Is there anything she can’t do?

Meet The Previous Recipients Of GQ’s Men of the Year

Kim Kardashian is one of the few women to grace the cover of
GQ’s Man of the Year edition. Technically dubbed “Tycoon of the Year”, acknowledging her business successes over the past few years (and for the gender neutrality of it all)- Kardashian joins a host of some of the most famous men in the world. Let’s take a look at the past five years:

    2022: Brendan Fraser, Andrew Garfield

2021: Lil Nas X, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Tom Holland

2020: Megan Thee Stallion, George Clooney, Trevor Noah

2019: Jennifer Lopez, Tyler, The Creator, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino

2018: Michael B. Jordan, Henry Golding, Jonah Hill

Women are normally recognized during the Men of the Year ceremonies, as it is a celebration of all people who emulated pop culture that year…however, no year has celebrated women quite like 2023.

The Men of the Year Awards 2023 were held on November 15 at London’s Royal Opera House where cover stars like Jeremy Allen White, boygenius, and Kardashian were in attendance.

Other female recipients included Megan Thee Stallion and Rihanna, who have paved their own paths in both the music and fashion industry. Rihanna with her Savage x Fenty inclusive lingerie line and Fenty Beauty has been changing the makeup and underwear game for a while now. Megan Thee Stallion is coming off a high-profile trial that she won against Tory Lanez, under immense public scrutiny, has become a figure for mental health and domestic violence while still creating hit records.

It’s one of the most female-dominated
GQ events we’ve seen, which is a pattern. The GRAMMY Award nominations just rolled out with so many female artists nominated, you’d think it’s a record. In the top three categories, female acts make up seven out of eight nominees.

This year, women are the man. It’s an exciting, uplifting time where we get to celebrate with each other instead of tearing one another down. Kim K is just another example of the
    Barbie effect.

  • ‘Zoey 101’ Star Alexa Nikolas Accuses Jonah Hill Of Engaging In ‘Predatory Behavior’

‘Zoey 101’ Star Alexa Nikolas Accuses Jonah Hill Of Engaging In ‘Predatory Behavior’

Another woman is coming forward with accusations against Jonah Hill.

In a series of tweets published over the weekend, “Zoey 101 alum Alexa Nikolas, 31, said that the “Superbad” star lured her away from a party and assaulted her when she was 16 and Hill was 24. (Nikolas didn’t mention the year of the party or Hill’s age in her tweets. But she does mention her age when the alleged incident occurred, suggesting that the party happened sometime in 2008.)

Nikolas’ accusations come in the wake of Hill’s ex-girlfriend, surfer Sarah Brady, publicly sharing a series of text exchanges with the “21 Jump Street” star in which he exhibits “emotionally abusive” behavior. Nikolas noted in a tweet that she felt Brady’s actions were “admirable” and the athlete inspired her to come forward.

Nikolas alleged that she and a friend — who she said was “also 16 or 17” — were at a party at “Barbarian” actor Justin Long’s home. She accused Long and his roommate at the time, “CSI: Miami” actor Jonathan Togo, of purposely getting her and her friend drunk and that they were “all aware I was 16.”

Nikolas wrote that she was pretty intoxicated once Hill arrived at the party.

“We were all pretty wasted because of course the predators were feeding us minors a bunch of alcohol,” she wrote.

Nikolas recalled asking Hill for “a cig” at one point in the night. She said he told her that if she wanted one, she’d have to go with him to his car “right outside” to get one because he didn’t want to go outside “all alone.” She said she and Hill then went to the car to retrieve the cigarettes from the front seat of his car. But she said Hill never gave her a cigarette — “which I thought was weird,” she wrote.

“And then as we walked back to the door I asked him for it and he said nothing,” Nikolas wrote. “But slammed me to the door and shoved his tongue down my throat. I was so appalled I pushed him off of me and ran inside.”

Nikolas also accused Togo of having sex with her drunk and underage friend, writing that the actor was “sleeping [with] *aka assaulting a minor*” during the party.

She also blasted Long for creating an environment in which minors could be taken advantage of by older men. She compared Long to his character in “Barbarian,” AJ Gilbride — an actor who is fired from a television series over allegations that he raped his co-star.

“Hey Justin Long I find it interesting you being in Barbarian as a predator,” Nikolas tweeted. “It must have been weird playing some of your friends. You knew your roommate was assaulting a minor under your own roof. You let it happen. Eek. I hope you regret it now.”

She added in a follow-up tweet:

“Also #justinlong why the fuck did you have children at your house late night? Ew.”

HuffPost has reached out to Hill and Togo for comment.

A representative for Long told HuffPost that the “Galaxy Quest” actor had “no knowledge” of the incident.

“This is the first time Justin has been made aware of this situation that allegedly happened nearly two decades ago. While Justin is sympathetic to any and all victims of any abuse, the simple fact remains he has no knowledge of what may or may not have happened concerning Ms. Nikolas,” his representative said.

Nikolas said in another tweet that she was sharing this information because she has been “traumatized by men in hollywood” and “Things have to change.” (She also had disparaging words for the people behind “Family Guy,” a show she worked on for an episode in 2011, though she didn’t offer any other context.)

“This type of predatory behavior was hyper normalized when I was a kid. I’m proud to see women standing up to abusive men now. Bad ASS!” she wrote.

  • Sarah Brady Shares More Alleged Jonah Hill Texts, Claims Actor Was “Sexting” Her After Their Breakup

Sarah Brady Shares More Alleged Jonah Hill Texts, Claims Actor Was “Sexting” Her After Their Breakup

Sarah Brady, the professional surfer and law student who previously dated Jonah Hill, has released more screenshots of alleged text messages between her and the actor in August 2022, showing a conversation about his then-new relationship with Olivia Millar.

In the screenshots, which Brady shared on Instagram Stories Monday, Hill allegedly wrote, “I know I don’t need to but in the spirit of pure respect to our friendship and appreciation for each other I did want to be transparent that I did start dating someone recently.”

He allegedly continues, “I’m sorry if that is painful. It just happened and I didn’t want to not be transparent with you ever as I care about you.”

In the screenshots, Brady responds in a text the next day by asking Hill to respect her “own personal chicks before dicks code” and “make that woman aware of how recently you’ve been flirting with me, sexting me, and leaning on me for partner level emotional support.”

In response, Hill allegedly asked Brady not to “ruin all the kindness. You’re better than that.”

Brady then responded with a screenshot of a July text from Hill telling her he’s “holding my hard [redacted].” Hill shot back by telling her that “screenshotting intimate texts between us is a huge triggering violation for me and breach of trust as a friend.” He goes on to tell her that “you have been treated in fact incredibly both emotionally and financially.”

This flood of screenshots of alleged exchanges is a continuation of Brady’s public claims that began last week, accusing Hill of controlling and gaslighting behavior during their relationship that started in 2021 and ended sometime in 2022. She showed screenshots of alleged texts from Hill claiming that “your therapist thinks I suck. I literally am the best boyfriend. On earth.” She also claims he told her to delete photos of herself in swimsuits, not surf with men, and cut off friendships with “unstable women,” among other demands.

Hill and Millar welcomed their first child recently, his team confirmed to the press, though details and the exact date of this event have not been shared. Hill has been vocal in his desire to stay out of the spotlight and was noticeably absent from sister Beanie Feldstein’s wedding this May. In August 2022, around the same time that Brady claims the latest text messages she shared were sent, Hill wrote an open letter explaining that he’d be opting out of promoting his films because of mental health struggles and anxiety attacks.

In previous Instagram stories, Brady claimed that Hill had been “running out of ways to manipulate me” and began “questioning my sanity and medications” in relation to her bipolar disorder diagnosis.

In one of the stories she posted Monday, Brady commented that “It may seem as if I am sharing a lot, but you all have no idea how much more there is which I am choosing not to share out of consideration for him and his family.”

In a post to her Instagram feed July 7, Brady shared a photo of herself in a crop top and skirt, captioning it “reviving a pic I took down by request of a narcissistic misogynist.”

  • Jonah Hill’s Ex-girlfriend Accuses Actor Of ‘Emotional Abuse’

Jonah Hill’s Ex-girlfriend Accuses Actor Of ‘Emotional Abuse’

Jonah Hill’s former girlfriend Sarah Brady is accusing him of being “emotionally abusive” to her when they were together.

The surfer shared screenshots last week of alleged text messages between the pair that she said were sent during their relationship. Brady slammed the movie star for being a “narcissistic misogynist” in the series of posts largely on her Instagram story.

“This is a warning to all girls. If your partner is talking to you like this, make an exit plan. Call me if you need an ear,” Brady wrote alongside a snapshot of text messages allegedly sent by Hill asking her to remove any surfing photos from her Instagram showing her “ass in a thong.”

Brady said the actor used to “manipulate” her over her profession. In one screenshot, the texts allegedly from Hill criticize Brady’s modeling career saying it is “the last profession I would be with as a partner,” Teen Vogue reports.

After Brady — who went public with her relationship with Hill in August 2021 — texted that she took down “all the posts,” the replies allegedly from the “Sausage Party” actor said it was a “good start” but Brady didn’t “seem to get” his point.

“But it’s not my place to teach you. I’ve made my boundaries clear,” the texts allegedly from Hill continued. “You refuse to let go of some of them and you’ve made that clear and I hope it makes you happy.”

“Keep taking me for granted,” another text read. “Go model! It’s a fulfilling life.”

Another message appeared to show the comedian telling Brady that if she wants to surf “with men,” “to model,” “to post pictures of yourself in a bathing suit” and have “friendships with women who are in unstable places” then he’s “not the right partner” for her.

“I am not the right partner for you. If these things bring you to a place of happiness I support it and there will be no hard feelings. These are my boundaries for romantic partnership,” the texts added.

According to Fox News, Brady had allegedly replied to Hill, writing: “Understood. I don’t need or want: Surfing with men without you there unless they are trusted close friends (mutually agreed upon), boundaryless inappropriate friendships with men, to model, to post pictures of myself in a bathing suit for the next year unless it is a tasteful (likely surfing) photo you have pre-approved, to post sexual pictures, friendships with unstable women from my recent past beyond getting a lunch or coffee or something respectful.”

Brady (right) called Hill’s words while they were together “emotionally abusive” in a series of Instagram posts.

    Theo Wargo via Getty Images

Brady said the “Don’t Look Up” star was initially undisturbed by her surfing photos, seemingly providing supporting proof by sharing a screenshot of a July 2021 direct message conversation allegedly with Hill in which he reacted with heart eyes to one of her posts.

Though she never directly named Hill in her posts, the athlete went on to clarify that “someone being an emotionally abusive partner doesn’t mean they’re a terrible person,” adding that it “often stems from their own trauma.”

“And at the same time, it doesn’t mean it’s ok,” she argued.

“If I could have one wish for him it would be that he is surrounded by feminist men who can hold him accountable to grow in the ways he has expressed he wants to,” Brady said in another Instagram story post. “I think fame can put people in an echo chamber of viewpoints which can enable emotionally abusive behavior.”

In an additional post, Brady addressed her own mental health concerns, writing, “I too struggle with mental health but I do not use it to control [people] like he did to me.”

She added, “It’s been a year of healing and growth with the help of loved ones and doctors to get back to living my life without guilt, shame and self-judgment for things as small as surfing in a swimsuit rather than a more conservative wetsuit. And I’m sure there’s still much more healing from this abuse ahead of me.”

Neither Hill’s reps nor Brady immediately responded to HuffPost requests for comment.

Hill’s name has been synonymous with mental health discussions in recent years, with the actor releasing his own mental health documentary, “Stutz,” about his therapist Phil Stutz last year. In 2021, Hill also went viral after asking fans on social media to stop commenting on his body because it “doesn’t feel good.”

After Brady and Hill split in 2022 after a year together, the “This Is the End” actor kicked off a relationship with Olivia Millar. The pair set off rumors about a possible engagement after the clothing store owner was spotted wearing a diamond ring in March, and news outlets confirmed in June that Hill and Millar had recently welcomed a baby together.

“I hope my ex has a daughter,” Brady wrote on her Instagram story, seemingly addressing Hill. “Maybe she’ll turn him into a real feminist.”

Hill previously refuted rumors in February 2022 that he proposed to Brady.

“The rumors are not true. I am engaged. But not to my girlfriend,” Hill wrote on Instagram at the time. “I am engaged to your mom. I know this is shocking but please respect our privacy at this time.”

Calling out the media outlets that reported on the speculated engagement, Hill added: “Media stop writing fake stuff, it’s corny.”

  • Jonah Hill Accused Of ‘Emotional Abuse’ By Ex-Girlfriend

Jonah Hill Accused Of ‘Emotional Abuse’ By Ex-Girlfriend

Sarah Brady, a professional surfer who dated Jonah Hill in 2021 and 2022, accused the actor and director of controlling behavior, emotional abuse, and misogyny via social media Friday. In a series of Instagram stories, Brady shared what she said were screencaps of text messages with the actor during her relationship that—among other requests—warned her not to maintain friendships with women “who are in unstable places” or to surf with men.

In one image of a message Brady attributes to Hill, the You People star allegedly said that to comply with his “boundaries for a romantic partnership,” Brady should remove certain Instagram posts of herself surfing and any of “you in a bathing suit surfing or not.” The alleged exchange took place just a few months after Hill, who is now 39, announced via social media that he’d prefer it if people stopped commenting “on my body,” saying that “it’s not helpful and doesn’t feel good.”

In another message Brady says was sent by Hill, he allegedly says, “I love how your therapist thinks I suck. I literally am the best boyfriend. On earth.”

Hill also appears to speak sarcastically about the profession of modeling in an alleged exchange captured by Us. “Go model! It’s a fulfilling life you’ll [love] it. Real depth and substance for sustainability of relationships.”

Hill and his reported girlfriend, online vintage shop owner Olivia Millar, welcomed their first child together earlier this summer. “I hope my ex has a daughter,” Brady wrote of Hill on Instagram. “Maybe she’ll turn him into a real feminist.”

Neither Brady nor a representative for Hill have responded to Vanity Fair’s request for comment as of publication time.

Page Six reports that Brady and Hill were involved as of August 2021, but parted ways in early 2022. An alleged text message from Hill that Brady shared bears the date Dec. 2, 2021. In August 2022, Hill announced that challenges maintaining his mental health prompted him to step back from promoting his work, saying then that he has “spent nearly 20 years experiencing anxiety attacks, which are exacerbated by media appearances and public-facing events.”

Via Instagram, Brady said that she posted the alleged messages because “keeping it to myself was causing more damage to my mental health than sharing it could ever do … I too, struggle with mental health but I do not use it to control ppl [sic] like he did to me.”

“I think fame can put people in an echo chamber of viewpoints, which can enable emotionally abusive behavior,” Brady wrote. And that while being an “emotionally abusive partner doesn’t mean they’re a terrible person … At the same time, it doesn’t mean it’s OK.”

  • Jonah Hill And Girlfriend Olivia Millar Welcome First Child

Jonah Hill And Girlfriend Olivia Millar Welcome First Child

    By Paige Gawley‍, ETOnline.com.

Jonah Hill is a dad! The 39-year-old actor and Olivia Millar, whom he was first linked to last summer, welcomed their first child, his rep confirmed to People. ET has reached out for comment.

Hill and Millar never announced their baby on the way, but reports to that effect surfaced in March when Daily Mail published pics of Millar with what appeared to be a baby bump.

Millar, the daughter of famed model Esmé Marshall, also sparked engagement rumours at the time, but neither Hill nor Millar has confirmed as much.

Before his relationship with Millar, who owns an online clothing store, Hill was engaged to Gianna Santos. The pair called it quits in 2020 after two years together.

Hill, who largely keeps his personal life private, was next romantically linked to environmental activist Sarah Brady, though he denied that they were engaged in February 2022.

The personal news comes after photos were published of Hill’s sister Beanie Feldstein’s wedding to Bonnie-Chance Roberts, though it’s unclear if Hill attended.

  • Kanye West Claims He “Likes Jewish People Again” Thanks To Jonah Hill and ’21 Jump Street’

Kanye West Claims He “Likes Jewish People Again” Thanks To Jonah Hill and ’21 Jump Street’

Disgraced former shoe salesman and rapper Kanye West has kept mum on social media since his business world fell apart late last year. That ended late Friday night/early Saturday morning when the College Dropout artist, who legally changed his name to Ye in late 2021, popped onto Instagram to declare that he liked Jewish people again.

Before you can say “uh, okay,” the man whose antisemitic comments and follow-up taunts to Adidas forced the company to drop his line of athletic wear explained what caused his change of heart: Jonah Hill’s performance in the 2012 comedy 21 Jump Street

Though West is a chronic deleter of social media posts, let’s take a look at this beauty while we still can. Like the Torah itself, it’s worth scrutinizing this line by line. (The image is taken from the British DVD/Blu-ray cover for some reason; note the 15 rating from the British Film Classification Office.)

    Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

“Watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump street made me like Jewish people again,” while a shocking statement, is fairly straightforward. West continues with, “No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people.” Even though this is entry-level humanity, it’s certainly a welcome expression of intelligence from West, who recently brought the vile white supremacist Nick Fuentes to hang out with Donald Trump, and told Alex Jones (!) that he loved Adolf Hitler

“No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is Jew,” is where it starts to get into the weird zone. Maybe I’ve just got my guard up (my name is Hoffman, after all) but it seems to me that West is using his self-professed pious Christianity as a get-out-of-jail-free card. It’s almost like a “hey, no matter what I do or say will ever stick to me because of this loophole.”

Additionally, if one has listened to many of West’s diatribes in the past (as, unfortunately, I have), you’ll hear an unusual rhetorical flourish of him never saying “a Jew” or even “Jewish.” It’s always just “Jew.” If it was once or twice, fine, but it feels to me like it is a linguistic decision (like Trump saying “Democrat party”) that is intended to have a little more sting.

West continued with, “Thank you Jonah Hill I love you.”

V.F. has reached out to Hill’s representatives to see if the actor-director had any comment. (Surely a “how is this meshuggenah’s Instagram my problem?!? Leave me alone!” would be an understandable response.)

21 Jump Street grossed $202 million at the worldwide box office back in 2012, and most would agree that it is an amusing motion picture. (V.F. did feel, at the time, that its reliance on “no homo!” humor was not its finest attribute.) In addition to Hill, it co-starred Channing Tatum, Brie Larson, Rob Riggle, and Ice Cube. The wacky update of the more straightforward (though still silly!) teen cop drama from the 1980s was the first live action project from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and was enough of a hit to inspire a sequel. Hill has a shared “story by” credit on the film.

  • Jonah Hill And Lauren London’s ‘You People’ Kiss Was CGI, According To Costar

Jonah Hill And Lauren London’s ‘You People’ Kiss Was CGI, According To Costar

Jonah Hill and Lauren London don’t actually lock lips in that “You People” kiss scene, according to a costar.

Comedian Andrew Schulz, who played a supporting role as cousin Avi in the Netflix movie, said on an episode of his podcast “The Brilliant Idiots” last week that the kiss was created with CGI.

“There’s a hilarious thing. I don’t even know if I should share this shit, but the final scene, they don’t even kiss,” Schulz said. “It’s CGI. Swear to God.”

“I’m there, I’m watching the wedding and I see them going for the kiss. And their faces stop like this far,” he said, “but in the movie, you can see their faces come close. And then you can see their faces morph a little bit into a fake kiss.”

Netflix did not immediately return a request for comment.

The romantic comedy follows Ezra (Hill) and Amira (London) as they navigate an interracial relationship and the familial culture clashes and societal expectations that come with it. The film was released on Netflix last month to largely negative reviews, including criticism that the romantic leads had no on-screen chemistry.

  • Critics brand Jonah Hill’s Netflix film You People ‘damaging’, say it took cheap shots at Jews

Critics brand Jonah Hill’s Netflix film You People ‘damaging’, say it took cheap shots at Jews

The popular Netflix sitcom that is presently occupying the top slot on Netflix ‘You People’ after being released about two weeks ago and starring Kenya Barris, Eddie Murphy and Jonah Hill, has been criticised for perpetuating stereotypes about Jews as being ‘white, affluent, and racist’, which has not been taken well by the community.

The film’s central plot involves a Jewish guy (Hill) who falls in love with a black Muslim lady named Amira Mohammed (Lauren London). As their respective families respond to the cultural differences, their relationship is put to the test.

Because of its alleged overreliance on stereotypes and anti-Semitism, some have labelled the film as ‘horribly damaging’, which made many Jewish influencers come out and comment.

David Baddiel, who is an author of Jews Don’t Count, mentioned in his tweet that ‘It’s a Jews Don’t Count fest. The Jewish family is positioned as white, privileged, and racist. The black family just has a stern father. At the end, there’s much Jewish apologising for racism. There are none for antisemitism. That word never appears.’

Following that, many members of the community commented on how the people of the community took these insulting remarks with contempt. Allison Josephs, who is the executive director of a non-profit Jewish organisation in the city, stated that the movie is ‘really, really bad’. She quoted- “I’m not sure what they were hoping to accomplish, but it didn’t work,” she tweeted. “Jewish and white are one and the same in this film.”

Many of the scenes and snippets in the trailer and in the movie were framed in a way that degraded the community. What the audience couldn’t agree on was how Josephs Hill, as a Jew, could say such dialogues and not care about his culture or Jewish community.

Many Jewish audience members expressed their sadness on social media, claiming that “there were a slew of unfounded assertions made without any opposition.”

The movie, released last week, is available on Netflix to watch.
