    Olivia Munn and John Mulaney welcomed a second child together last week, daughter Méi June Mulaney, Munn shared via Instagram Sunday. The couple, who quietly tied the knot in July, are also parents to 2-year-old son Malcolm.

    “I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon, for making the journey to be with us,” she wrote.

    Munn shared on Instagram that Méi, whose name means “plum” in Chinese and was born September 14, was carried by a surrogate, whom Munn called “a real-life angel.” Munn has undergone several surgeries as part of what she characterized as “aggressive” treatment for breast cancer, including a double mastectomy and related reconstructive surgeries, an oophorectomy and hysterectomy, and more. The surgeries meant removing Munn’s ovaries, uterus, and fallopian tubes to prevent her body from creating estrogen, which her type of breast cancer responds to. In the same June Vogue interview detailing her treatment, Munn said that she had also frozen her eggs because she and Mulaney “don’t feel like we’re done growing our family.”

    She said that prior to any chemotherapy, radiation, or the surgeries, she’d undergone egg retrieval that resulted in two healthy embryos. She knew that though she wouldn’t be physically able to carry her own pregnancy, she and Mulaney had options.

    “A surrogate isn’t a scary prospect to me anymore because there’s nothing I can do,” she said. “I don’t have the ability to carry a baby anymore, so if we want to build our family, this is our option. This journey has made me realize how grateful I am to have options for not only fighting cancer, but also having more children if we want, because I know a lot of people don’t have those options.”

    Munn thanked her daughter’s gestational carrier profusely in the post announcing the baby’s arrival.

    “I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” she wrote. “When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true.”

    Mulaney, who is slated to return to the Broadway stage this winter in All In: Comedy About Love, spoke with David Letterman in April, telling the fellow comedian that Munn’s pregnancy with son Malcolm was “a big surprise,” but that fatherhood had changed his life.

    “It wasn’t so much that I thought I wouldn’t [have a child] as. . . it was never a good day to have [a kid],” Mulaney said. “I just wasn’t thinking about it. I was just. . . kind of living one minute to the next. And then this guy came along. I was starstruck when I met him. I went, ‘Oh, there you are.’ I was looking in not good places and then, ‘Oh, there you are.’ That was my first thought.”

    The 97th Academy Awards have yet to land a host, though it’s not for lack of trying.

    ABC is said to have made offers to both Jimmy Kimmel and John Mulaney, both of whom passed on the opportunity, as first reported by Puck News. Fortunately for the Academy and its host network, there’s still plenty of time, with the Oscars not slated to air until Sunday, March 2.

    The first outreach had gone to Kimmel, its late-night host, who’s already emceed the Academy Awards four times, including the last two years. (Ironically, his statement upon accepting the offer in 2023 read: “I always dreamed of hosting the Oscars exactly four times.”) Nevertheless, he was the obvious choice, in large part because his last foray was widely praised and because he’s already part of the Disney family. But Kimmel ultimately said no, as he reportedly did hosting this year’s Emmy awards, which will also be carried on ABC.

    The decision may come as a surprise to those who know Kimmel to ultimately say yes to most major gigs in the name of being a good partner. After all, he’s hosted the Emmys for ABC three times, he makes an annual appearance as roast master at the Disney upfront and he keeps re-upping his late night contract despite hemming and hawing about being done. But he’s also been vocal in recent years about his desire to have more balance in his life, which played into his decision to take the summers off at Jimmy Kimmel Live.

    Mulaney, arguably a sexier if riskier bet, came next. His name has been bandied about as a potential host ever since he won over the Oscar crowd at the Governors Awards earlier this year. In fact, many saw that non-televised gig as an audition of sorts, during which Mulaney clearly passed. (Vulture went so far as to publish a piece titled, Let John Mulaney Host Everything.) The year prior, Mulaney had been asked by The Hollywood Reporter if he would ever consider hosting the Oscars. “Sure, why not?” he replied. “It would be really fun. It’s hosting the Academy Awards. Johnny Carson did that.” 

    And while the comic addressed the possibly more recently, telling THR in June that he “wouldn’t necessarily say no”; in the end, he decided to pass for this year. (Don’t bother asking about the year after since he insists he doesn’t plan more three months in advance.) Though hosting the Oscars is a prestigious opportunity and still a major platform, it’s also a massive, months-long and often thankless undertaking. Plus, Mulaney would have had to give up other opportunities, including another likely (and hugely lucrative) standup tour. So, it’s back to the drawing board for ABC and the Academy, which hasn’t had to run an extensive search for an Oscars host in years. ABC declined to comment for this story, and the Academy did not immediately respond.

    PARIS (AP) — Fashion. Sports. And of course, the rain.

    Those were the topics — separately, and together — on everyone’s lips as a gaggle of luminaries from sports, entertainment and media packed into Ralph Lauren’s Paris eatery Saturday evening in yet another high-wattage celebrity Olympic gathering in the French capital.

    The starry crowd at Ralph’s Restaurant included Oscar winner Jessica Chastain, Nick Jonas, John Mulaney and Alan Cumming, among other entertainers. First lady Jill Biden arrived late and drew a large crowd around her.

    “Saturday Night Live” executive producer Lorne Michaels was there, pointing to his shoes and noting they were still wet from the previous evening’s epic, and rainy, opening ceremony. “These shoes are not all-weather,” he explained. The ceremony had left many drenched, but most still very happy to be there — including Michaels.

    “Let’s put it this way, I was watching in a place with a lot of stars, and nobody was complaining,” he said.

    Also not complaining: the Olympic athletes in attendance, who’d spent much of the previous evening on a boat in the rain. Had they been worried about catching cold?

    “It was a thought,” said Jeffrey Louis, a member of the U.S. breaking team competing in the sport’s Olympic debut, “but then I figured we’d just all get sick at the same time.”

    “So we all embraced it,” added Louis, who said he had tried to cover up with a poncho briefly, but when he put it down, someone swiped it. But he survived the rains in good health — in any case, his competition is not until the end of the Olympics.

    Likewise, Chiaka Ogbogu, a U.S. volleyball player, decided to not to worry about colds. “We’re in it, so might as well not worry about it,” she said she thought at the time. Also, she noted: Athletes are some of the toughest people out there. They can deal with colds.

    Ogbogu, who is competing in her second Olympics after Toyko in 2021, said she was delighted to be at a Ralph Lauren event because she is a self-described “fashion nerd.” Asked which team uniform she liked the best — besides her own Team USA kit, which she was wearing — she noted the elegant Mongolian uniform, which has been widely acclaimed. She also admired Haiti’s vibrantly colored designs, which likewise have gained attention

    Singer-actor Nick Jonas cited a special reason for loving the Indian uniforms in the three colors of that country’s national flag: “My wife’s Indian,” he noted, referring to spouse Priyanka Chopra. He’d just flown into Paris a few hours earlier for a whirlwind few days at the Games, during which he plans to watch gymnastics with star SImone Biles, among other things.

    Jonas missed the chance to see the opening ceremony in person — and to get wet — but watched it on TV. He said he was amazed by the production values — noting in particular the French tricolor smoke billowing over a bridge. “That was like nothing I’ve ever seen,” he said.

    As for fashion — the theme of the night — almost everyone seemed to agree that these 2024 Olympics had taken fashion up a notch. Ogobogu, the volleyball player, said it was “almost inevitable — I mean, it’s Paris!”

    David Lauren, the label’s chief branding and innovation officer and son of founder Ralph Lauren, who did not attend, attributed it partly to the rise of social media and how quickly images of Olympic fashion travel these days, as compared to 2008 when the label began outfitting the U.S. team.

    To make his point, he whipped out his phone and showed an Instagram video of LeBron James, a U.S. flag bearer with Coco Gauff, being readied in his white Lauren jacket with red-and-blue trim. It had nearly 850,000 likes.

    CULVER CITY, Calif. — Jimmy Kimmel is on his summer vacation from late-night television. But before he started his time off, he taped a summer of shows for primetime.

    Kimmel is back with a new celebrity-filled season of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.”

    “This show is so much easier than my show. I mean, really, like, the amount of preparation is basically one minute of reading through pronunciations and then sitting down,” laughed Kimmel.

    In the new season of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire,” celebrities are pairing up to win money for their charities – including the stars of “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Scrubs” and “Full House.”

    “We got into neuroses. We get into all sorts of old wounds were opened. I didn’t even want to ask any questions because it was so funny watching them sit there and talk,” said Kimmel.

    “Kenan and Kel” hope to hit the jackpot on the show. But they are already winners when it comes to the fans.

    “When Ken and Kel walked out there, I’m not joking, the whole front row of the audience here started crying,” said Kimmel.

    But laughing has been a big part of the show. So has philanthropy.

    “It’s been very fulfilling so far. And people have made a lot of money. And you can tell when you talk to these people that, all joking aside, all game show aside, these charities mean a lot to them. When you ask somebody, ‘What is your favorite charity?’ you know, it hits home,” said Kimmel.

    I asked Jimmy what game night looks like at the Kimmel household.

    “I don’t like games. Maybe I shouldn’t be a game show host!” joked Kimmel. “I do love to play Scrabble. Unfortunately, no one will play with me ever because I just don’t ever lose. So, I love to play Scrabble. I like to play Boggle, sometimes by myself. But word games, I guess, are the games I go for.”

    I let him know those were my two favorite games.

    “Oh, I would love to play you.” said Kimmel. “Oh, just Pennacchio’s like a thousand points!”

    “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” airs Wednesday nights on ABC.

    Fans want to know if John Mulaney cheated on Annamarie Tendler before Olivia Munn‘s relationship with him. Mulaney and Tendler, an artist, met more than a decade ago and married in 2014.

    They announced their divorce in May 2021 after seven years of marriage. “I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage. “I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery.” Tendler told Page Six in a statement at the time. Mulaney said in a statement via his rep, “John will not have any further comment as he continues to focus on his recovery and getting back to work.”

    In an interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers on September 7, 2021, Mulaney revealed that his girlfriend, Olivia Munn, is pregnant with their first child. He also explained the timeline of his relationship with Munn and his past year. “I went to rehab in September, I got out in October, I moved out of my home from my ex-wife,” he said. “Then in the spring I went to Los Angeles and met and started to date a wonderful woman named Olivia.” He continued, “I got into this relationship that’s been really beautiful with someone incredible. And we’re having a baby together.”

    Did John Mulaney cheat on Anna Marie Tendler with Olivia Munn? It’s unlikely that he did.  Mulaney revealed that he met Munn at Meyers’ wedding to his wife, Alexi Ashe, in 2013. A source close to Tendler, however, denied that Mulaney asked her for divorce in October 2020 and instead asked her for a divorce in February 2021, when news broke of their breakup. The insider also claimed that Mulaney had cheated on Tendler before went to rehab again in December 2020.  “Anna Marie knew he was doing things with other women before he went to rehab in December. And his claims to friends that he was trying to protect her before he went away to rehab were rubbish, she didn’t need protecting,” the source said.

    The insider continued, “John was using Anna Marie to protect himself. But still, she was very heartbroken that he decided to end her marriage, she was heartbroken how it went down, it wasn’t something that she wanted, she wanted to work it out. I am sure this news about the pregnancy will be very difficult for her.”

    Another source also told Page Six that Mulaney started messaging other women on Instagram for “hookups” while he and Tendler’s relationship had issues during lockdown. “John really suffered through lockdown last year. Annamarie moved to Washington, DC, to work at the Smithsonian on a project and he was back in NYC and out of control,” the insider said. “He was DM’ing women on Instagram for hookups — whether he went through with anything, we don’t know—and by December he’d fallen off the wagon again and was abusing drugs and alcohol.”

    The source continued, “This all followed a pattern—he and Anna Marie would break up and get back together again, he would get wasted and then he’d beg her to take him back. Sometimes, he told friends that he was so wasted that he had no recollection of even talking to these women.”

    Another source also denied a People report in May that claimed that Mulaney and Munn met at a church in Los Angeles. “That was BS, and Twitter immediately called Olivia out on it, saying she’s known John for years. It isn’t entirely clear when their relationship started. There have been rumors for months about her being pregnant, and it all just seems like a very tight timeline.”

    A source also told Page Six in July that Munn and Mulaney’s friends were already talking about her pregnancy. As for when Munn and Mulaney met, Page Six reported that they “first connected socially several years ago and remained friendly.” A celebrity agent who’s worked with Munn also told Page Six that they don’t believe the timeline that Mulaney presented of his and Munn’s relationship on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

    “I don’t think it’s any coincidence that John broke the news of Olivia’s pregnancy the way he did in terms of basically giving a timeline of his past few months — when he moved out of his house, how it was the spring when he fell in love with Olivia,” the agent said. “It seems to me that he is going to great lengths to dispute the idea that he cheated.” The agent continued, “She has a demonstrated history of hanging out with and spending time with SNL guys, so no way did their paths not cross, and there is the video of them together back in 2017.”

    Munn gave birth to their son Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney on November 24, 2021. On January 10, 2021, Munn took to Instagram to share a photo of Mulaney holding and kissing their newborn after the holidays. “The smooshiest smoosh 💋,” the new mom captioned the photo, which you can see below. Munn also added a note for any eagle-eyed fans who spotted the family’s Christmas decorations in the background of the photo: “And yep, our Christmas tree is still up 🙈,” she wrote.

    In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Munn said of the speculation revolving around their relationship, “It’s definitely not foreign for me to have people speculate incorrectly about things and to have rumors run rampant in one way.” She continued,  “They think they know our relationship so well. When in reality, they don’t. There’s no way anyone could know what any of his relationships were or what our relationship is.”

    Mulaney gushed about his baby and life in his Saturday Night Live monologue in 2021. “Life is a lot better and happier now,” he said. “I have a 12-week-old son. He is a pretty cool guy for someone who can’t vote. His legs are like little calzones, and I want to eat him.” “We were in the delivery room. My girlfriend had just given birth to him and he’s crying a little, so they bring him over to this warmer on the other side of the delivery room, and they put them on the warmer under this big bright light and light is just shining in his eyes. He just looks up at the light and … he was annoyed. But he didn’t say anything. I was like, ‘That’s my son.’ A polite man in an uncomfortable situation, but he’s not going to make a fuss.”

    John Mulaney is hosting not one, not two, but six live specials as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest, the streamer’s annual comedy festival. Titled John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA, the series of specials features a fittingly deranged lineup of guest stars.

    I could keep this windup going, but let’s cut straight to the chase. Netflix has announced several of the stars joining Mulaney for Everybody’s in LA, a six-night series of comedy specials featuring live and pre-taped bits. If you thought Mulaney was just going to pal around with his comedy friends, you were right but also incredibly wrong. The lineup (so far) includes:

    David Letterman, Nate Bargatze, Seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones, Weezer, Jerry Seinfeld, Citizens for LA Wildlife Representative Tony Tucci, Jon Stewart, renowned hypnotherapist Kerry Gaynor, Flea, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Marcia Clark, Ray J, Mae Martin, Los Lobos, legendary filmmaker John Carpenter, Warren G, Earthquake, Patton Oswalt, Stavros Halkias, helicopter journalist Zoey Tur, Sarah Silverman, Joyce Manor, Ronny Chieng, Tom Segura, Bill Hader, St. Vincent, Cassandra Peterson, Luenell, Hannah Gadsby, Cedric The Entertainer, Dr. Emily Lindsey of the La Brea Tar Pits and Beck.

    Where else can you expect to see iconic comedians David Letterman and Sarah Silverman alongside Marcia Clark, the lead prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson trial???? It’s like comedy Coachella: Jerry Seinfeld (the far-right’s new favorite comedian!) in on a bill with filmmaker John Carpenter, a renowned hypnotherapist, Ray J, Hannah Gadsby, a helicopter journalist, Cassandra Peterson (a.k.a. Elvira, Mistress of the Dark), and Weezer.

    And apparently that’s not all. According to the press release from Netflix, “There will be more guests as well but we are tired of listing them. We have given you enough information already.” Lest you forget, Mulaney wrote the Stefon segments for Bill Hader on SNL‘s Weekend Update—the guy has a knack for creating lists of people and things that typically have no business being in the same room together. Speaking of which, Bill Hader is also on the guest list!

    Hosted by Mulaney with Richard Kind serving as announcer, John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA is described as “a show where John Mulaney explores the city of Los Angeles during a week when every funny person is in it.” The first episode premieres on May 2, with subsequent episodes dropping every evening through May 10. Episodes will air live at 7PM PST on Netflix.

    Most awards show hosts took the gig for reasons other than the prestige or the (usually nonexistent) pay — but few of them open their performances by talking about them. That’s just one of many things that made John Mulaney’s work hosting the Academy’s Governors Awards such a pleasant surprise, thrilling the starry crowd that had just endured a far less exceptional Golden Globes.

    “This is a strategic obligation,” Mulaney said at the beginning of the ceremony Tuesday night. “It is a pleasure to stand here on this temporary stage. For those of you that don’t recognize me from the Tuesday night AA meeting in the Palisades, my name is John Mulaney.”

    The Governors Awards, usually held in November but delayed due to the actors strike, are an untelevised, chummy affair, drawing in virtually every awards contender but only awarding the Honorary Oscars that are determined months in advance. There are no envelopes to open or moments of suspense, just tributes and, when Mulaney is hosting at least, some of the best jokes we’ve heard about this year’s top Oscar contenders.

    “Mr. Bradley Cooper is here,” Mulaney said early on, turning his attention to the room. “Bradley Cooper, incredible director and star of Maestro, or as it was originally titled, Bye Felicia!” Then he turned his attention to the odds-on best picture favorite: “That Oppenheimer cast is stacked with talent. Every part is played by a huge movie star. They’re like, ‘Hey, we need an extra to polish the atom bomb. Let’s see if Jack Nicholson is available?’ Daniel Day Lewis plays a pair of goggles.”

    The focus of the evening is on the honorary winners, who this year were Mel Brooks, Angela Bassett, editor Carol Littleton, and Sundance Institute founder Michelle Satter. We can only imagine the terror of delivering jokes in front of a comedy legend, but Mulaney met the challenge, introducing him as Mel Brooks, “or as antisemites call him, ‘Exhibit A.’” He then added, “You know the guy that did the prosthetic nose for Maestro? He did Mel’s entire face and body and personality for the last 97 years.”

    For Bassett, nominated last year for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Mulaney got even more pointed: “Here’s what a great actor Angela Bassett is. She got an Oscar nomination for a Marvel movie. That’s like getting a Pulitzer Prize for a Reddit comment.”

    In her essay, Tendler shared many of Petunia’s quirks, like her tendency to obsessively guard items that she considered hers and an animal communicator’s message, after communing with the dog, that “Petunia thinks she is a star and a queen, so I’m not sure she is going to respond to anything about her being left out simply because she’s a dog.” After her hospitalization, Tendler became one of those guarded objects, greedily and jealously protected by the Frenchie that she describes as “a lemon, but she was my lemon.”

    Tendler also detailed the dog’s 200-plus page vet records and many “medical calamities” before describing making the painful decision to put her to sleep. 

    Among them: “Five entries on pneumonia, chronic ear infections, not one, but two nose surgeries due to her face being literally concave, even a run-in with a snapping turtle who leapt into the air to snap her cheek. Until that day, I had no idea turtles leapt. She had degenerative disc disease in her spine. She had a heart murmur. She had permanent scarring on her lungs. She was allergic to almost everything. Her vet bills were exorbitant.”

    But through it all, Tendler describes a companionship that, though now ended, was steadfast. 

    “She was my constant through marriage, four moves, graduate school, a career change (or two), a mental health crisis, a divorce, and finally a reinvention,” Tendler wrote. “Now, she sat in my lap as Dr. Emily and Kate facilitated her peaceful passing.”

    But also, Tendler warns, lest your heart be too warmed by her essay and you consider tracking down a Petunia of your own, “Let this be a disclaimer to any person who is lured to Frenchies by their expressive faces and silly personalities: if you are considering getting one, don’t. They are a breed that persists only through human medical intervention, and ethically, that is not a type of dog that should exist.”

    When John Mulaney was 17 years old, a therapist neatly summed up his psyche. “He goes, ‘Half of you is this really nice guy who wants to do the right thing and be a good person,” Mulaney recently told podcaster Theo Von. “And the other half of you is a gorilla whose sole purpose in life is to destroy the first half.”

    Until recently, most audiences only saw the first guy in Mulaney—a sharp, kinetic standup comedian with an old-timey sensibility, who wore impeccably tailored suits to perform crowd-pleasing bits about Law & Order: SVU and his childhood meeting with Bill Clinton. But the gorilla takes center stage in Baby J, Mulaney’s newest Netflix standup special. It’s his first since his highly publicized journey through relapse, recovery, and a spectacularly messy breakup with Anna Marie Tendler, the wife Mulaney frequently mentioned onstage in his “nice guy” era. Baby J makes clear, over and over again, that Mulaney is finished with that chapter of his life. 

    “We all quarantined! We all went to rehab, and we all got divorced,” he sings in a carnival barker belt near the beginning of the special, joking about how unrelatable he became during the pandemic. Mulaney ends the ditty with a tip of his imaginary cap and a conclusion pulled straight from one of the many takes about parasocial relationships that proliferated in the wake of his split from Tendler: “Likeability is a jaaaaaiiiiil.”

    You may well walk away from Baby J believing that Mulaney is all ape—self-centered; callous; weirdly hostile to the close friends who staged an intervention for him in December 2020, the same people he credits with saving his life. (For what it’s worth, he’s not as tough on them in the special as he was during his recent From Scratch standup tour. At least in the New York date I caught last year, Mulaney was especially brutal toward his college pal and frequent collaborator Nick Kroll, painting the Big Mouth creator as a well-meaning but shallow cornball.) 

    Sobriety doesn’t seem to have mellowed him. Onstage, at least, it’s made Mulaney darker, meaner. “If you’ve seen me do standup before, I have kind of a different vibe now,” he tells an 11-year-old boy who’s inexplicably in the taping’s audience. (Maybe young Henry was a fan of John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch, a faux children’s variety show released on Netflix just before the World Health Organization learned about a mysterious virus proliferating in Wuhan.) There aren’t many jokes here about typical Mulaney fodder like Xennial pop culture or the weirdness of adolescence. Baby J is focused instead entirely on Mulaney himself—the origins of his drug problem, when he hit rock bottom, and what happened to him in treatment. 

    Though Mulaney has always been open about his demons—he’s said he started drinking at 13, and quit when he was 23, after a few too many blackouts—he used to describe himself as a pathological beta. “Some people give off a vibe of ‘Do not fuck with me,’” he said in his 2015 special The Comeback Kid. “My vibe is more like, ‘Hey, you could pour soup in my lap, and I’ll probably apologize to you!’” In Baby J, he paints an entirely different portrait. This Mulaney is a degenerate schemer who’s convinced himself that nobody can see his very obvious drug problem, a deluded narcissist who still, two and a half years later, believes that he was the coolest person at his own intervention. The drugs didn’t help, of course, but Mulaney doesn’t blame this side of his personality on them; one of the special’s funniest gags concerns how devastated he is to learn, in rehab, that nobody there knows or cares he’s famous.

    Still, longtime followers of his work won’t be caught totally off-guard. Much about the special is familiar, and not just because Mulaney has already performed portions of this material on Late Night with Seth Meyers and Saturday Night Live. Mulaney’s idiosyncratic vocal cadences haven’t changed; he can still wring laughs out of a single well-placed “but!” or elongated “ohhhhh.” Setpieces still segue smoothly into each other, giving Baby J a propulsive energy even though it’s 20 minutes longer than the typical standup special. Mulaney is still wearing a suit onstage, albeit a natty magenta number allegedly crafted by King Charles’s pajama guy—a signal of some essential post-breakdown continuity.

    John Mulaney is a busy man. But he’s not so busy that he can’t still put out standup specials from time to time. His latest, Baby J, is officially coming to Netflix next month.

    Mulaney is perhaps best known for his standup, but he works all over the industry. So far, he’s released The Top Part, New in Town, The Comeback Kid, and Kid Gorgeous. (The last two were both also released by Netflix.) He’s been nominated for multiple Emmys, and his variety show John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City won Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special.

    His comedy usually centers around mundane situations that grow increasingly absurd, usually resulting in embarrassment or disgust, lampooning social mores. He also has an undeniably infectious theater-kid energy and flamboyance that really adds to his performances. Outside of his standup, he’s written for tons of notable shows, like Saturday Night Live and Fred Armisen and Bill Hader’s Documentary Now!

    Mulaney has also done voice work, most notably on Big Mouth, a show created by his long-time comedy partner, Nick Kroll. He met Kroll while working as an office assistant at Comedy Central back in 2004, and the relationship flourished. Mulaney auditioned for SNL in 2008, after being discovered on Late Night With Conan O’Brien. He was up against some stiff competition, including Nick Kroll, Donald Glover, Ellie Kemper, T.J. Miller, and Bobby Moynihan, but managed to get onto the late-night series’ writing team, where he stayed for four seasons. His career since then has included tons of supporting roles on TV, stand-up, and even an ill-fated sitcom pilot.

    Once again, Baby J, Mulaney’s new standup special, will premiere on Netflix on April 25.
