We’re starting off strong with what we think was one of the biggest celebrity breakups of 2014. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, who were married for over 10 years and have two children together, announced their “conscious uncoupling” in March.

After their separation, Chris Martin briefly dated actress Jennifer Lawrence, while Gwyneth has been romantically linked to Glee producer Brad Falchuk since August. Their ability to maintain a friendly relationship post-divorce has been noted by many, showcasing their commitment to co-parenting and mutual respect. This was the biggest celebrity breakup of 2014.

    Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult

Turns out the odds weren’t in Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult’s favour. The pair began dating in 2011 after meeting on the set of X-Men: First Class. Their romance faced ups and downs, briefly splitting in 2013 before reuniting both off- and onscreen in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Ultimately, their five-year relationship came to an end in August 2014.

In November 2015, Lawrence revealed that she felt lost after ending her romance with Hoult, coinciding with the filming of the last Hunger Games movie.

Katy Perry and John Mayer officially ended their on-again, off-again romance in February after dating for two tumultuous years. According to a sources at the time, the breakup was influenced by Perry’s stress over her upcoming tour. The insider shared, “She’s stressed about the tour. They’ve been fighting. It is probably for the best, because she is going to be on tour for forever. Of course, this happens all the time; I can’t keep track anymore. But for now, they are done.”

Their relationship had its highs and lows, with intense chemistry and public displays of affection contrasting with periods of tension and separation. Fans and the media were always speculating about what would happen next in their whirlwind romance amidst their busy music careers.

We’re still obsessed with all things Britney Spears, and back in 2014, the pop star was front and centre in the spotlight for her breakup with David Lucado. The duo began dating in March 2013 — just two months after the singer and Jason Trawick mutually ended their engagement.

Britney announced their split with a cryptic tweet in August, saying, “Ahhh the single life!”

Shortly after, during one of her Piece of Me concerts, she candidly addressed rumours of David’s infidelity, telling the audience, “So I know you know my boyfriend cheated on me,” adding, “But the best thing about being cheated on is I get to go on more first dates.”

    Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks

In September, Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks shocked fans by ending their nearly three-year romance. Known for their adorable public appearances and musical collaborations, the couple seemed inseparable. Jason even wrote the hit song “Marry Me” for Jordin, fuelling engagement rumours. Sources close to them revealed the breakup was mutual, stating they “still care very deeply for each other and will remain friends”.

In early December of 2014, Kate Hudson and Matthew Bellamy called off their engagement. Kate’s rep revealed, “Kate and Matt have been separated for some time now. Despite this, they remain very close friends and committed co-parents.” Shortly after, the Muse frontman tweeted, “We’re both very happy, it’s for the best. Thanks for your kind words. Now about that new album.”

The couple, who began dating in 2010 and got engaged in April 2011, welcomed their son, Bingham, in July of the same year.

The split between Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose rocked Hollywood in September. After only a year of marriage, Amber filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and asking for full legal custody of their 1-year-old son, Sebastian. Their breakup caught everyone off guard, especially considering their public displays of affection and seeming happiness together. Fans and media speculated about the reasons behind their sudden and unexpected separation.

    Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart

Back in 2014, Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart made headlines when they decided to part ways after over two years together. The media buzzed with rumours of infidelity, but sources close to J.Lo quickly dismissed these claims.

Despite their breakup, Lopez and Smart maintained a good relationship and frequently appeared together as “great friends” after their split. They briefly revived their romance in 2015, but their renewed relationship was short-lived, underscoring their bond. Just over a year after getting back together, they ended things once more, leaving fans and the media speculating about the future of their relationship.

In August, rumours started swirling that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s marriage was in trouble, with sources disclosing that the couple had been “living apart” for some time and their relationship had been rocky. Shortly after, Nick confirmed the split, admitting, “There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months.”

Mariah and Nick tied the knot in a secret ceremony in 2008, just weeks after they began dating. Their marriage produced two children, 3-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, despite the challenges they faced in their relationship.

  • Vanderpump Rules’ Scheana Shay Discusses Rift With Katie, Status With Ariana, and Marriage Rumors, Plus Claims John Mayer Never Denied Romance and Explains Jeremy Madix Friendship

Vanderpump Rules’ Scheana Shay Discusses Rift With Katie, Status With Ariana, and Marriage Rumors, Plus Claims John Mayer Never Denied Romance and Explains Jeremy Madix Friendship

    Credit: Instagram

Scheana Shay spoke about her rift with Katie Maloney on her podcast and revealed where she stands with Ariana Madix.

While also addressing rumors of a potentially impending split from her husband Brock Davies, pointing out that John Mayer, 46, has never denied her claims of a romance, and detailing her friendship with Ariana’s younger brother, Jeremy Madix, the Vanderpump Rules star, 38, admitted that while she thought she and Katie, 37, were in a good place amid season 11, she now questions their relationship.

“I thought Katie and I were in a good place, at least a much better place than season 10, obviously. She invited me to her Christmas party. There were less than 10 of us there. She had a very intimate birthday dinner … I think it was only maybe eight of us. Then what’s interesting is I see all of the things she was saying about me around the same time, whether it was interviews or the After Show … It’s been upsetting for sure,” Scheana revealed on the April 5 episode of Scheananigans. “The After Show has been the most telling to me because I know the exact date that was filmed.”

“I’ve been genuinely trying to work on rebuilding that friendship … I even had cut someone out of my life who she was having a major issue with last year just to prove to her, ‘I’m trying to be loyal to you. I’m trying to respect you and your boundaries,’ and then she goes and makes these comments,” Scheana continued. “Her laughing along with Nick Viall  saying sh*t about me, he makes jokes at my expense and then she doesn’t have my back.”

According to Scheana, she doesn’t understand why Katie invited her into her inner circle, only to make jokes about her “behind [her] back, on camera, [and] in the press.”

“She wants to say she doesn’t know if she can trust me. It’s like, ‘Well I don’t know if I can trust you because someone who does that behind my back is not someone I can genuinely trust as a friend,’” Scheana noted. “I think genuine friends cheer you on publicly and privately so I do now question things.”

As for where she stands with Ariana, 38, Scheana said they are “fine” before hinting at the reunion tension.

“When we filmed the reunion, we had to rehash some things and talk about things that can be uncomfortable at times. It’s not my favorite day out of the year but at times it can also be a bit therapeutic and cathartic,” she explained. “I was able to get some things off my chest and at the end of the reunion, Ariana and I hugged, said ‘I love you,’ we’ve texted since then.”

As Ariana nears the end of her run in Broadway’s Chicago, Scheana is looking forward to spending time with her and her boyfriend, Daniel Wai, at Coachella.

“I don’t think there’s anything to mend,” she clarified of the dynamic between her and Ariana, which was tested by Scheana’s relationship with Tom Sandoval, 41, on season 11. “I think friendships go through ups and downs and last year was a wild year in all of our lives and we’re all doing the best we can.”

As Scheana attempted to sort through her feelings about Sandoval post-affair, she and Brock were faced with marital challenges.

“We’re definitely in a much better place now than we were last year. We were going through a lot of issues, a lot of them you’ve seen play out so far this season. You’re still going to see more coming up in the next few episodes but it was a difficult time in our relationship,” Scheana noted. “I think that after everything we went through and have been in therapy about individually, I think we’re in the best place we’ve ever been in. Sometimes you have to go through some hard moments to come out on the other side.”

“We want our family to work and if that means I gotta bring in a nanny a couple more days, if that means he needs to bite his tongue with my mom, whatever it is, we’re figuring it out,” she added.

Moving on to the topic of John, Scheana made it clear that despite recent claims of him “denying” their relationship, the musician has never actually done so.

“I’m sure John doesn’t love being a storyline on Vanderpump Rules], but where did he deny this? Because I’m pretty sure it was The Sun who made that claim,” she told listeners. “When I looked at the article, it looks like they just kind of made this up. It was like, ‘a source close to,’ or however they worded it. There weren’t quotes from John. There weren’t quotes from his team. There was nothing else in there.”

“When that popped up, I was like, ‘Oh, I forgot about that.’ And nothing was ever denied then. So just interesting that The Sun is putting more rumors out and trying to dispel other things,” she noted.

Also on the episode, Scheana responded to a fan who wanted to know why she was spending time with Jeremy amid his issues with Ariana.

“I’ve always been close with Jeremy. They are both family to me. He’s like a little brother and has been for over a decade,” she shared. “She’s spent many Christmases with him. We’ve done many holidays together … [And] he got engaged yesterday and they were in L.A. They live down in Oceanside and got engaged in Malibu and were staying in West Hollywood for the night so on their way back to WeHo, they stopped by.”

“I popped a nice bottle of champagne I had for them and obviously I posted because that’s a huge moment in his life and I was so excited for him,” she went on. “I absolutely love his fiancé, Rachael, she is an absolute doll and such a sweetheart so that’s why I posted, because it was a very big day in their lives and I was so excited to be able to celebrate with them.”

Vanderpump Rules season 11 airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.

John Mayer Breaks Out ‘Weirdest Thing You Ever Saw In Your Life’ Mid-Show

John Mayer combined two very different parts of his career in an unexpected way this week, mixing his biggest solo hit with one of the Grateful Dead’s greatest psychedelic masterpieces.

“This is gonna be the weirdest thing you ever saw in your life, and I’m proud to do it,” Mayer told the crowd at the United Center in Chicago on Wednesday night.

Mayer, who played in the Grateful Dead offshoot Dead & Company, launched into an acoustic take on “Dark Star,” a Dead classic known for improvisational jams that would stretch 10-15 minutes or more.

“I want you to mark it on the setlist, that this is technically ‘Dark Star,’” he told the crowd.

But rather than take the audience into “the transitive nightfall of diamonds” of psychedelia, he took a turn into “Your Body Is A Wonderland,” the 2002 smash hit that won him a Grammy and that listeners either love, hate or love to hate.

“I did it,” he said as the audience cheered the opening bars. “I did that!”

Fans joined him for a rousing singalong on “Wonderland,” then Mayer announced some “unfinished business” and went back into an acoustic “Dark Star” to conclude the unexpected mashup.

Mayer said he did the song “with extreme love for my brothers in Dead & Company.”

The “weirdest thing” was captured from a variety of angles:

The announcement of John Mayer joining Ed Sheeran as an opening act on his stadium shows has sparked a flurry of excitement and speculation, particularly among fans of Sheeran’s close friend, Taylor Swift. The dynamic between Sheeran and Swift is quite well known, and Swifties wasted no time sharing their thoughts on Mayer’s inclusion.

Adding fuel to the fire is the impending release of Swift’s highly anticipated album Speak Now on July 7. Fans couldn’t help but draw connections to Mayer with the track Dear John, widely believed to be a pointed response to their past romantic entanglement. The timing seems almost too perfect, igniting a mix of curiosity and anticipation among Swift’s devoted fanbase.

Taking to social media, one Twitter user mused about the potential reception Mayer might receive from the audience, pondering whether he would face an onslaught of boos or a more gracious welcome. Andy Cohen Clarifies Comments About Being in Love With John Mayer: “Get Ahold of Yourself”

Andy Cohen wants everyone to calm down about his bromance with John Mayer. On the June 22 episode of “Radio Andy,” Cohen clarified the remarks he made about being in love with his pal during an interview with Howard Stern from earlier this month. After the interview, his comments led to quite a bit of media coverage, but the “Watch What Happens Live” host thinks everyone needs to calm down.

“I was on Howard Stern last week and he asked me about my friendship with John Mayer and I said, ‘Yeah, you know,’ said kind of flippantly and offhandedly that we love each other,” Cohen said. “It became headline news and the more it became headline news, the more butthurt I got over it. You know why? Are two men not allowed to say that they’re in love? Are we all so flipped out?”

He went on to share a story about how his college roommate was the first heterosexual man to tell Cohen that he loved him. Cohen explained he was struck by how “very pure and real, but not sexual whatsoever” his friend’s declaration was. “That’s why I just think that a friendship of two guys, that doesn’t seem like headline news to me…” he continued. “At first, I thought it was kind of lazy like, ‘Oh, that’s a lazy headline.’ Yes, I offhandedly said we love each other and then the longer it went, I was like, ‘Y’all need to kind of, you know, get ahold of yourself.’”

Cohen made headlines when he told Stern on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show” that he and Mayer are “in love with each other.” However, the Bravo host also clarified that there’s never been anything sexual between him and his longtime friend.

It’s unclear exactly how long Cohen and Mayer have been pals, but they were first spotted hanging out in 2012. Since then, Mayer has spoken at Cohen’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, attended his friend’s baby shower, and made multiple appearances on “Watch What Happens Live.” As for what bonded the duo, Cohen revealed in a 2022 interview with Entertainment Tonight that they’re both devoted Grateful Dead fans.

“I would say the Grateful Dead got us a lot closer, ’cause I was already a major deadhead, and he started getting into them and then imagine when your friend starts playing with your favorite band who you thought you would never see again,” he said. “And now, you can actually tour with them. So, that was a big kickstart to everything too.”

  • Taylor Lautner ‘Prays’ For John Mayer On TikTok Ahead Of Taylor Swift’s Release

Taylor Lautner ‘Prays’ For John Mayer On TikTok Ahead Of Taylor Swift’s Release

Taylor Swift’s forthcoming album is already bringing ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner to his knees nearly two months ahead of its release.

Lautner’s wife, Tay Dome Lautner, set off a fan frenzy Wednesday when she posted a TikTok video of her husband kneeling beside a bed with his hands clasped together as Swift’s song “Dear John” plays in the background.

“#prayforjohn,” she wrote in the caption.

Lautner was making good on his pledge to “pray” for another one of Swift’s exes: John Mayer.

Swift dated the “Your Body Is A Wonderland” singer-songwriter sometime between 2009 and 2010, and many believe the song “Dear John” is about their brief romance.

Mayer responded to the speculation in a 2012 Rolling Stone interview, dismissing “Dear John” as “cheap songwriting” that made him feel “really humiliated.”

Lautner and Swift dated in 2009 and co-starred in the 2010 romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day.” Their relationship is said to have inspired another “Speak Now” track, “Back to December.”

When asked by Today.com Tuesday if he was concerned about Swift fan discourse that will inevitably result from the July rerelease of “Speak Now,” the “Twilight” actor replied: “I think it’s a great album. Yeah, I feel safe. Praying for John.”

Since 2021, Swift has been rereleasing her first six albums after she said she was unable to buy the master recordings of the originals. To date, she’s rereleased “Taylor’s Versions” of 2008’s “Fearless” and 2012’s “Red.”

The 12-time Grammy winner, who is currently making her way across the U.S. on her sold-out Eras Tour, may also be at work on some new music with a rumored beau.

Earlier this week, Swift was spotted exiting New York’s Electric Lady Studios with Matty Healy, frontman of the British pop-rock band The 1975. The two have been romantically linked in the media in recent weeks following Swift’s split with actor Joe Alwyn.

Today in History: October 16, Cuban missile crisis begins

    Today in History

Today is Sunday, Oct. 16, the 289th day of 2022. There are 76 days left in the year.

    Today’s Highlight in History:

On Oct. 16, 1962, the Cuban missile crisis began as President John F. Kennedy was informed that reconnaissance photographs had revealed the presence of missile bases in Cuba.

    On this date:

In 1758, American lexicographer Noah Webster was born in Hartford, Connecticut.
