  • Every Disney Icon, Band Reunion, and Pop Star Cameo at the Jonas Brothers Tour

The Jonas Brothers have it figured out. So many of their peers and colleagues from Disney Channel or the 2000s/2010s music scene are re-recording their music or making a comeback to the studio. Why not give them a platform for their return? It’s a win-win; their crowd, who obviously is very nostalgic for their favorite Disney band, will love it, the musicians get exposure to their direct audience, and the Jonas Brothers get to book their pals/idols. It’s simply too good. Below, every band jam, pop star surprise, and Disney reunion from the Greetings from Your Hometown tour (More like Greetings from Your Beloved iTunes library.)

*While technically not everyone on this list appeared on Disney Channel, they were absolutely being played on Radio Disney. Or by tween with an iPod Nano in the 2010s. It’s also fair to say they weren’t only famous on Disney Channel, but that’s probably where you first met them.

    Photo: Kevin Mazur/Getty Images

This is real. Demi Lovato reunited with her ex Joe Jonas on the August 10 show to sing Camp Rock favs like “This Is Me” and “Wouldn’t Change a Thing.” They’re exactly where they’re supposed to be — making a big comeback.

His “Beautiful Soul” joined the brothers in Fenway Park before he started “Leavin’” after his set was done.

The crowd was on fire as Big Rob surprised everyone with his “Burnin’ Up” verse during opening night.

The Click Five is now the Click Three (not really, but three original members are still in the band), and they obviously sang, “Just the Girl,” even if she, like, totally wouldn’t care.

A powerhouse singer in her teens and a powerhouse singer in her adulthood, JoJo probably makes everyone almost faint as she came out to sing “Leave (Get Out).” Has Boston checked their seismometer for that date? There might be some interesting readings from all the jumping and dancing.

Cabrera stopped “On the Way Down” in Texas to sing his 2004 hit. Similar to other early 2000s guests, he also re-recorded his hit recently.

It was worth it. After a seven-year hiatus, Ally Brooke, Normani, Dinah Jane, and Lauren Jauregui announced their comeback during the Dallas show, singing “Work From Home” and “Worth It.”

5SOS had the perfect crowd to surprise with “She Looks So Perfect.” Because if you bought tickets to see a boy band, wouldn’t you love to see another boy band? The answer is yes.

They were “Meant to Live” on the MetLife stage after re-recording their Columbia Records debut of The Beautiful Letdown. Switchfoot joined the brothers on tour twice, singing “Dare You to Move” in Chula Vista for the second cameo.

All Time Low jumped in at the Gainesville show to sing “Dear Maria, Count Me In.”

Mmmmmm yeah. Another trio of brothers came to sing “MMMBop” for Virginia Beach crowd.

Cartel has a lot to say. They sang “Say Anything (Else)” in Hershey, PA. The band recently rereleased their hit album Chroma, out now.

You don’t need a reason to see Hoobastank. They surprised all the millennials in the crowd to sing “The Reason.” A perfect evening if you ask me.

Joe shared how much Dashboard Confessional has influenced his songwriting, specifically with “Take a Breath.” They sang “Vindicated” in Fenway Park.

A perfect surprise for those who love a good iPod playlist. The Chicago, Tinley Park enjoyed “Hey There Delilah,” and most likely experienced a nostalgic drive home, thinking of their MySpace profile song.

The Jonas Brothers dared to ask: Hey, what other song can we add to the setlist that will make everyone cry? The easiest answer is “All of Me” from John Legend for their LA show.

On opening night, he sang “Loved You Better,” his collab with the boys on Greetings from Your Hometown.

If the world was ending, JP Saxe has the perfect song for it. He sang “If the World Was Ending” and stayed on stage to play guitar during “Gotta Find You.”

The love for Alessia Cara is multi-generational for the Jonas family. Kevin shared how much his family, specifically his daughters, love her music as she sang “Scars to Your Beautiful” in Toronto.

There’s always room to introduce a rising star to new audiences. Russell Dickerson came out to sing “Happen to Me” in Detroit.

Peter Pan Syndrome? Yuck! Kelsea Ballerini singing “Peter Pan” in Dallas? Hooray!

The singer and former Dancing With The Stars star (who famously tried to get voted off the show because he really missed his cat) sang “I’m Yours” in Chula Vista.

  • Openings and Closings: Sandoitchi FlagshipThis Year, Bosscat Bows Out Soon

    Sandoitchi
, 1603 N. Durham, is expected to open by the end of 2025. It will be the flagship for the Japanese sandwich pop-up which has been serving its creative concoctions at festivals in Dallas, Houston and California, as well as collaborating with various restaurants for pop-up dinners.

The experimental concept was founded in Dallas in 2020 during the pandemic under the culinary direction of chef Stevie Nguyen and business partners Keith Tran, Andy Sirois and Angel Acosta. Chef Nguyen’s resume includes stints at such renowned eateries as Uchi, Momofoku Ko and Morimoto. It earned its cult-like status from celebrity gushes (Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are fans) and influencers galore raving about the unique Japanese sandos made with airy milk bread.

    The creations are endless.

Its cold Egg Salad Sando takes the normally pedestrian sandwich filling to a whole new level by filling the thin bread slices with soft-boiled, hard-boiled and scrambled eggs, plus Kewpie mayo. Another cold option is the Strawberry Cream, a creation based on the Japanese fruit sandwiches whose origins are debated, but have been around for a hundred years or so. The hot sandos include Classic Chicken Katsu with tonkatsu sauce and even one with truffles. The menu varies from pop-up to pop-up, so it will be interesting to see if the Lobster Roll or Smoked Ribeye Katsu make it onto the permanent menu.

Some of the drink offerings include house-made seasonal flavors like Strawberry Matcha Latte and Mango Ube Lassi.

Bosscat Kitchen & Libations, 4310 Westheimer, will close its doors September 28, after nine years. The Daily Dose Hospitality team have decided not to renew the lease. Instead, the owners will convert the space to a private venue until the end of 2025, finishing out its ten-year lease. The group, which also owns restaurants in California, will continue to operate Bosscat in The Woodlands and TEN Sushi + Cocktail Bar on Westheimer.

Co-founder JT Reed said that the milestone is bittersweet. “Nearly a decade in this city is truly something to celebrate. I live here. I love Houston and, since Daily Dose Hospitality started, there was nowhere else we wanted to be.” However, according to the press release, the company has decided to consolidate its portfolio and focus on potential new opportunities, in and around Houston.

Bosscat Kitchen first opened its Houston location in February 2017. Its hearty (and critically-acclaimed) whiskey list and playful brunch dishes made it a hotspot for cocktails, conversation and socializing. Its menu reached back into our childhoods for over-the-top dishes like Fruity Pebble French Toast and the Donut Burger. However, it also served more serious showstoppers such as 12-Hour Beef Short Rib and Sugar Barrel Steak, mouth-watering plates that just begged for one of its amazing whiskies.

Bosscat Houston will continue to serve its full menu until its final day and the hope is that Houstonians will  come in and enjoy their favorites before it closes. For its last weekend, September 27 through September 28, there will be a “Bosscat Style Weekend” and guests can enjoy its signature brunch and a DJ on September 28.

On the Kirb, 6777 Woodlands Pkwy., will open in the former El Tiempo space later this year. It is currently hiring for a number of positions. It will be the fifth location for the organic eatery and sports bar, which opened its most recent location in Greenway Plaza last January.

Happy Hour at On the Kirb means drink specials and a tasty menu of bar bites.

While the image of a sports bar is one of dark walls, blaring televisions and greasy food to most people,  On the Kirb has built a reputation for its fresh menu and inviting spaces. Yes, guests can still enjoy a cold beer while watching the big game, but the chicken wings here are organic and the burgers are made with grass-fed beef. Guests can enjoy comfort bar food like the Giant Pretzel with sriracha queso or healthier fare such as the Kale Caesar or Shawarma salad.

There are plenty of beers on tap, a wine list, plus craft cocktails like the Brojito or Gin Weasley.

The fresh strawberry version of its cheesecake is the most popular, out of 30.

The Cheesecake Factory, 29216 Hempstead, will open at Houston Premium Outlets November 18. Currently the Cypress restaurant is looking to hire 270 staff members. That’s nearly one person per item on its menu. The Cheesecake Factory has been recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” for 12 consecutive years.

Its massive menu has sometimes drawn criticism for the massive calorie counts, but diners have their favorites, whether its the Avocado Eggrolls, Shepherd’s Pie or Louisiana Chicken Pasta. There are loads of burger, sandwich, salad and flatbread choices as well. For those watching their calories, the SkinnyLiscious menu features Crispy Crab Bites, Asian Chicken Lettuce Wrap Tacos and Sesame Ginger Chicken over quinoa.

El Tiempo has frosty margaritas, too.

El Tiempo Cantina, 2360 S. Loop W.,  officially opened September 8. Like its other 12 locations, the spacious interior is colorful and rustic, with old family portraits lining the walls, including ones of “Mama Ninfa” Laurenzo herself. There’s also a bar area.

The menu starts with appetizers like chile con queso with beef picadillo and ceviche and continues with soups, entree salads and a variety of nachos. The Mama Ninfa’s Favorites includes the Pork Tamale Plate, Carne Guisada and Chile Relleno a la Ninfa. There are more than a dozen fajita platters, plus steaks, fresh fish and lunch specials.

Freebirds World Burrito, 20330 Fort Bend Pkwy Toll Rd., is celebrating its grand opening September 18 beginning at 10:30 a.m. The new Stafford location will have giveaways, games and free samples that day, plus the first 25 guests in line will receive free burritos for a year, one per week. The next 26 to 100 attendees will get free burritos for a year, one per month.

The BYOB (build-your-own-burrito) restaurant currently operates more than 60 locations. It also features house-made salsas, tacos, nachos and salads.

    Bye-bye bocce and bowling.

Pinstripes, 3300 Kirby, closed this week. The closure is part of the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing by Pinstripes Holdings Inc., according to the Houston Chronicle. The Houston location is one of 10 that are closed, including the other Texas location in Fort Worth. Its debts are listed in excess of $143 million.

The bowling alley venue debuted in Houston in 2019. It also featured bocce courts, a gorgeous patio and an Italian bistro with dishes like espresso-encrusted filet mignon and fried calamari.

We first heard the news when we were contacted by a spokesperson from Boat People S.O.S., the local non-profit that is hosting its annual Banh Mi Cookoff September 16, 2025. Pinstripes was supposed to be the event venue, but the banh mi competition has now been moved to Lam Bo Ballroom, 6159 Westheimer. The dates and times are still the same and yours truly is fortunate enough to represent the Houston Press as one of the judges. Tickets are still available at eventbrite.

Hacienda Los Arcos, 4625 Kingwood, opened this month, according to HKA Texas. It’s the second location for the Mexican restaurant which also operates a spot in Humble/Atascocita. In addition to authentic dishes like tortilla soup, hand-rolled enchiladas and sizzling fajitas, there are Los Arcos Specialties including Gulf Red Snapper and Steak Ranchero.

There’s a bright and open dining room, a small outdoor patio and a bustling bar.

Mo’ Brunch +Brews will host a pop-up September 18 at the University of Houston in collaboration with the UH Dining Services. Chef Courtney Lindsay will share samples of his vegan boudin sushi balls from 11 a.m. until sell-out at the Cougar Woods Dining Commons, 4277 Wheeler.

John Legend Claps Back At Donald Trump’s False Claims About Haitian Immigrants Eating Pets In Ohio

Whew! Roomies, John Legend is puttin’ Donald Trump on game about his hometown of Springfield, Ohio.

John Legend Claps Back At Donald Trump

John Legend shared facts on Instagram after Donald Trump made comments about Haitian immigrants eating pets at his first presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.

However, Legend explained that immigrants moved to Ohio seeking opportunities.

“The bottom line is these people came to Springfield, because there were jobs for them and they were willing to work,” the musician stated.

The award-winning singer emphasized that everyone should show “patience and grace” towards Haitians as they get adjusted. Additionally, he addressed Trump’s claims about their eating habits.

“Nobody’s eating cats, nobody’s eating dogs. We all just want to live and flourish and raise our families in a healthy safe environment. How about we love one another,” Legend continued.

    Social Media Reacts

Instagram user @_angiestaten_ wrote, Damn, he was very calm, very demure when he spoke 😮‍💨”

Instagram user @teddyrozay wrote, They play with Haitians every election. Never fails.”

While Instagram user @caroline_kautsire wrote, These elections are raining cats and dogs! Now I have to put my hands up when I approach someone’s pet…just to prove I come in peace and not because of hunger. 😂😂😭😭”

Then Instagram user @1makanson wrote, Haitians won’t even eat frog legs 😂 why would y’all believe they would eat a cat or dog? 💀”

Lastly, Instagram user @diall0smith wrote, Another Springfield, OH native and I second this!!👋🏽”

Here’s What Trump Said About Haitian Immigrants At The Presidential Debate

Trump’s baseless clam that Haitian immigrants in Ohio eat dogs and cats sparked millions of reactions nationwide.

“They’re eating the dogs, the people that came in, they’re eating the cats. They’re eating the pets of the people that live there, and this is what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame,”Trump said during an answer to a question about immigration.

NBC News reports that Donnie’s outlandish statement prompted a response from Springfield police and Springfield Mayor Rob Rue. Mayor Rue rejected the claim, stating that the city has no documented cases of immigrants eating pets.

“Rumors like these are taking away from the real issues such as housing concerns, resources needed for our schools and our overwhelmed health care system,” Mayor Rue explained.

  • What to stream: Adam Sandler, John Legend, ‘Only Murders in the Building’ and Star Wars Outlaws

What to stream: Adam Sandler, John Legend, ‘Only Murders in the Building’ and Star Wars Outlaws

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” returning for its second season and Adam Sandler’s first comedy special since 2018 are some of the new television, films, music and games headed to a device near you.

Also among the streaming offerings worth your time as selected by The Associated Press’ entertainment journalists: John Legend offers his first-ever children’s album, season four of “Only Murders in the Building” shifts to Los Angeles and DJ and dance producer Zedd is back with an album after nearly a decade.

    NEW MOVIES TO STREAM

“The Fall Guy” is finally coming to Peacock, where it will be streaming starting Friday, Aug. 30, alongside an “extended cut” version. It might not have reached the blockbuster heights the studio dreamed about during its theatrical run, but it’s pure delight: A comedy, action, romance that soars thanks to the charisma of its stars. Based on the 1980s Lee Majors television series (he gets a cameo), the film features Ryan Gosling as a stunt man, Emily Blunt as his director and dream girl, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as an egotistical movie star and “Ted Lasso’s” Hannah Waddingham as a Diet Coke slurping producer.

    — Ishana Night Shyamalan’s thriller, “The Watchers,” in which Dakota Fanning plays an artist stranded in western Ireland where mysterious creatures lurk and stalk in the night, begins streaming on MAX on Friday, Aug. 30.

    — Emma Stone gives a performance (and interpretive dance) worth watching in “ Kinds of Kindness,” her latest collaboration with Yorgos Lanthimos fresh on the heels of her Oscar-winning turn in “Poor Things.” The film, streaming on Hulu on Friday, Aug. 30, is a triptych with a big ensemble cast including Willem Dafoe, Jesse Plemons (who won a prize for his performance at Cannes), Hong Chau, Margaret Qualley, Mamoudou Athie and Joe Alwyn. Jocelyn Noveck, in her Associated Press review, described it as “a meditation on our free will and the ways we willingly forfeit it to others — in the workplace, at home, and in religion.” Noveck wrote that the “Stone-Lanthimos pairing… is continuing to nurture an aspect of Stone’s talents that increasingly sets her apart: Her fearlessness and the obvious joy she derives from it.”

    — Somehow the Yorgos Lanthimos film is not the most eccentric new streaming offering this week. That title goes to “ Sasquatch Sunset,” Nathan and David Zellner’s experimental film about a family of sasquatches just living their lives. Starring an essentially unrecognizable Jesse Eisenberg and Riley Keough (in addition to Nathan Zellner), this Sundance curiosity begins streaming on Paramount+ on Monday. In his review for the AP, Mark Kennedy wrote that it is “a bewildering 90-minute, narrator-less and wordless experiment that’s as audacious as it is infuriating. It’s not clear if everyone was high making it or we should be while watching it.”

    AP Film Writer Lindsey Bahr

    NEW MUSIC TO STREAM

    — DJ and dance producer Zedd is back with an album after nearly a decade, “Telos.” The first single is the appropriately titled “Out of Time” featuring Bea Miller, a dreamy tune with atmospheric strings that builds into a dancefloor banger. Zedd has revealed that he started writing “Out Of Time” way back in 2015 but was never able to finish it. That changed with Bea — “her voice added an emotional depth that completed the song. ‘Out Of Time’ really encapsulates the DNA of the Telos album, which is why I chose it to be the song that introduces this new era,” he says.

    — If you’re into a slower change of pace, check out John Legend, who releases his first children’s album, “My Favorite Dream,” on Friday, Aug. 30. It’s produced by the chamber pop polymath Sufjan Stevens and centers on universal themes like love, safety, family and dreams across nine original tracks, two covers, a solo piano track and three bonus covers of Fisher-Price songs.

    — Get ready for a blast of K-pop — on your television. Apple TV+ has the six part documentary “K-Pop Idols,” a behind-the-scenes look at the highly competitive reality of K-pop stardom, starting Friday, Aug. 30. It features Jessi, CRAVITY and BLACKSWAN as they learn choreography and pull everything together to seize the stage. Producers say the series “follows the superstars through trials and triumphs, breaking down cultural and musical barriers in K-pop with passion, creativity and determination as they chase their dreams.”

RZA takes a sharp turn as a classical composer with the album “A Ballet Through Mud.” The composition made its debut in the form of a ballet last year, performed by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Composed and scored by the Wu-Tang Clan star, the piece mirrors his journey from growing up in the projects in New York City to famous artist, “weaving in tales of love, loss, exploration, Buddhist monks, and a journey ‘through mud.‘” RZA says he began the project early in the pandemic after rediscovering notebooks full of lyrics he had written as a teenager. “The inspiration for ‘A Ballet Through Mud’ comes from my earliest creative output as a teenager, but its themes are universal — love, exploration, and adventure,” he says.

    AP Entertainment Writer Mark Kennedy

    NEW SHOWS TO STREAM

    — Adam Sandler has the feels in his new Netflix special “Adam Sandler: Love You” featuring his standup and trademark comedy songs. It’s directed by Josh Safdie who — with his brother Benny — co-directed Sandler in the 2019 movie “Uncut Gems.” “Love You” is Sandler’s first comedy special since 2018. It premieres Tuesday on Netflix.

    — Charles, Oliver and Mabel (Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez) head to Los Angeles in season four of “Only Murders in the Building,” because their podcast is being turned into a film. Their Hollywood life is interrupted when another murder occurs, meaning the trio has a new case to cover. Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis and Eva Longoria join the cast. “Only Murders in the Building” premieres Tuesday on Hulu.

    — A new animated series in the “Terminator” universe comes to Netflix on Thursday. It follows new characters voiced by “House of the Dragon” actor Sonoya Mizuno, Timothy Olyphant, André Holland Rosario Dawson and Ann Dowd.

    — Season two of “The House of the Dragon” has aired in its entirety on HBO and if your fantasy itch still needs to be scratched, “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” returns for its second season Thursday on Prime Video. The story is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, prior to the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings.”

    NEW VIDEO GAMES TO PLAY

    — Luke Skywalker may get the headlines, but the true MVPs of the Star Wars franchise are rascals like Han Solo and Lando Calrissian. Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws introduces a new scoundrel: Kay Vess, a young thief who’s trying to work her way up the galaxy’s crime syndicates and make the big score. She isn’t a Jedi or a Sith, but she knows how to fire a blaster and fly a spaceship. Outlaws comes from Massive Entertainment, the developers of Tom Clancy’s The Division, and it aims to spread Ubisoft’s brand of open-world adventure across multiple planets. It launches Friday, Aug. 30, on PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S and PC.

    — Many gamers who grew up with the Super Nintendo Entertainment System remember 1993’s Secret of Mana as their introduction to a particular type of high-fantasy role-playing. It’s been 15 years since we’ve gotten a new chapter in the marquee Mana series, but Square Enix is finally delivering Visions of Mana. A youngster named Val is chosen to accompany his friend Hinna on a pilgrimage to the life-sustaining Mana Tree, and they’ll need to use magic and swordplay to fight all the monsters along the way. The lush, anime-style graphics are bound to stir memories in old-school RPG fans, starting Thursday, Aug. 29, on PlayStation 5/4, Xbox X/S and PC.

Exclusive Interview: Speelburg On Silver Medal Slump And Filmmaking

It’s time for you to get to know Speelburg! In the latest of THP’s exclusive interviews, we chat with Speelburg, fresh off the release of his sophomore album, Silver Medal Slump. Speelburg is a multi-disciplinary artist who can do it all – make witty “weird pop,” direct music videos for your faves, and give you great movie recommendations. We simply have to stan!

His latest project, Silver Medal Slump, is the second album under the name Speelburg. Each song was slowly-but-surely released over the course of a year, and the album’s arc unpacks the nature of second place. Centering your ‘dreaded second album’ around the idea of second place is so witty, and that’s just Speelburg all over, TBH.

We were so excited to talk with Speelburg about Silver Medal Slump, his namesake, and so much more, in this exclusive interview. So we won’t keep you waiting any longer!

Image Source: Alex Boundy, via Sideways Media

    Speelburg x THP Exclusive Interview

Congratulations on Silver Medal Slump! You released the songs over a long period of time, but how does it feel to have the whole body of work out there in the world now? What’s the response been like?
Thanks! Yeah, the response has been great! It’s so nice to have the whole thing out there living in the world as a 10 song, 32 min unit. People have been super nice about it — I guess it would be pretty weird if they went out of their way to DM me and dunk on it, but luckily that hasn’t happened yet. Like, yeah, the whole thing came out over the course of a year, because honestly, that felt like the best way to do it for this record. The first one took a lot longer to complete and get out there so I really wanted to try the complete opposite of that. Take 10 songs, and as each one is finished, try and get it out there as quick as possible. You still have an eye on the eventual goal of the album as a whole, but it makes you write and commit a lot quicker.

You released music videos for so many of the tracks, and we love how they represent different facets
of both the album and of you. What made you decide to go with this Silver Medal theme?

Well, I like having an overall theme and aesthetic for the an album, even if it only ever makes sense to me. At some point while I was writing this album I started really getting into the idea of runners up, second place winners, sequels etc… and like, looking at a lot of sophomoric efforts and what it meant to put out a second album. In a lot of ways it’s a second album about making a second album, not necessarily in some huge Charlie Kauffman way. But not not either.

And how did you decide the order that you released the tracks? Was it as-and-when each song was
    ready to be heard?

Yes and no. At first, I had a few finished songs and was like, “Well, if I start releasing the first single now, I’ll have to commit to releasing the whole album by this date.” So you look at the few finished songs and choose the first single, then you release the next one and you’re kind of doing it in a way that makes sense to you, and then you look at the list of 7 or 8 nearly finished songs and go “alright now I got a good view of what I need to get done.” As stressful as it was in the end, the process was a whole lot funner than sitting on a finished record for a year or more.

Your debut album, Porsche, came out in 2020. Did you feel any pressure to live up to the
expectations that were set following the success of it? Though we’ll admit there’s a certain irony to
this question given the concept of Silver Medal Slump!

Well sure. Yeah, like you point out, there’s definitely some pressure but to be honest, there was a lot less on this one, mainly because I kept telling myself the debut needs to be out by this time, under these perfect conditions, and it needs to say this about me and blah blah blah. This is not to say this one has no intention, it totally knows what it’s trying to say. it’s just, it felt like when I finally had the first one out, I had suddenly paved an endless runway for myself. “I’ve done the first album, now I can just keep making more and none of them ever have to be the debut Speelburg album.” Does that make sense?

Totally! You freed yourself by getting that first one out.
Exactly! It was probably mostly self-imposed pressure, and this is not to say each new album isn’t going to come with it’s own set of rules and anxieties, but it feels like having your first one out, people can really join along the way as you evolve and grow as a writer and producer.

You’ve referred to your work as “weird pop” before. How would you define that?
I think it’s just a way to tell people I make pop that isn’t the first thing they think of when someone says pop. I think they think of something like Dua Lipa. But like, I’m going to the same well as them so there’s not that much distinction. Everyone’s doing everything these days and releasing it all as singles. Making singles is fun. You really get to experiment with all kinds of genres. At the end of the day, if it has your voice, or even just your name, people are down to listen.

It’s been said that you have a Wes Anderson-esque sense of humor in your music, which we totally
agree with. So we have to ask: what’s your favorite Wes Anderson film?

Oh that’s nice! Thanks. He’s rad. The thing I really like about directing that’s similar to music is that you’re constantly learning new things. You start a thing and then slowly it becomes another career and along the way you try and copy some shots, you try and come up with your own. Same with music genres. You hear a thing you love and you want to figure out how it’s made and how to make your own version of it. It’s really hard to pick a favorite, but I will say the one I really love that doesn’t seem to get as much love is The Darjeeling Limited. I’ve seen it dozens of times, and it’s just one of those movies that came along at a perfect time. Something about brothers fighting and talking over each other, the amazing Indian setting and a killer soundtrack. I just love it so much.

And dare we ask what your favorite Spielberg film is?!
Catch Me If You Can. No, wait. Hook. I’m gonna say Hook. Just because, if you watch the featurette behind the scenes video, it really shows you everything that went into making the world seem so real. Hook rules.

You clearly have so much passion and talent in film-making, with your work for The National amongst others. How does your work in this space impact your music and vice versa?
At this point I’d say they’re pretty knotted together. For my own personal work anyway, you can’t really have
one without the other. I think about a lot of these songs visually, so video and music pretty much go hand in hand. But I really dig the commercial work. Anytime you get stuck on a song, you just say yes to a directing job and it just puts that track on ice for a couple weeks. You come back to music in such an excited way, and can figure out pretty quickly how to fix it. And people like The National and John Legend and their teams have been such great collaborators. You get a surprising amount of creative freedom which means you can experiment on such a larger scale. And again, you take a lot of those lessons in collaboration, speed and execution back to the music side. Like, I got to work on this video for the National that mixed video and animation and the turnaround was pretty quick, but the whole thing was so fun and I’ve ended up using a few of those tricks on other visual stuff for Speelburg, so it all kind of feeds into each other.

Are there any particular music artists out there that you’d love to direct in the future?
Oh man, so so many. I’d really love to do some videos for Girl Ultra. She’s so so cool. I think I could do some pretty great stuff for Remi Wolf and Beck too…You know I’d really like to try to do more with choreography too. I directed this small video and ended up just shouting out dance moves behind the camera to these twoactors, and they were great, and the whole thing just came together, but I’m by no means a choreographer. I would just love to work with someone great who knows what they’re doing and take care of the rest. Then beyond that anyone from like Toro Y Moi, LCD, Phoenix, Tame Impala to like, The Weeknd and Ariana Grande would be such a dream. Really want to do as much of that stuff as I can over the next year while I finish up the next record so who knows!

We love that you split your time between LA and London (two of our fave cities), too! How do each of
these places inspire you? Does the energy they have impact you in different ways?

Oh totally! There’s some cool stuff coming out of the UK, and honestly feels completely different from what comes out of LA, and bringing weirder, more interesting references to your writing, especially in collaborations, is always better. The UK is always thriving when it comes to electronic music, and it’s developed a really great art rock scene in recent years with labels like Speedy Wunderground being a great way in for new acts. LA’s got the sun and it’s got the money and the studios but it’s also got some great gnarliness to it and that divide makes for great and interesting art. There’s also a really great community there, other transplants, like-minded musicians, a whole great scene that’s constantly evolving. I love them both. I’m happy in whatever place keeps me hearing new and interesting music and meeting new and interesting people.

We’re still basking in Silver Medal Slump, but we have to ask: What’s up next for you?
Well, we’ll see if it can be done, but right now I’m starting to see the next record start coming to life. It might not have all the squishy organs yet, but the shell is forming. As for the commercial work, that’s a little harder to talk about before it’s all signed off, but I really feel like I’m only getting better with each project, and pretty stoked to share all of it. And beyond that, I’m super excited to get back on the road and tour the album. We’ll be doing some dates at the end of the summer and into the fall and I can’t wait to see what works! Records and commercial work aside, playing live is my favorite thing. I feel like I spoke a lot in this interview. Hopefully, it’s not too boring. I tried really hard to get really good at making this album as concise as it could. I’m not sure I can say the same about this interview.

Definitely not too much! Thanks so much to Speelburg for chatting with us for this interview!

Chrissy Teigen And John Legend Take Kids To Natural History Museum – 247 News Around The World

    • Chrissy Teigen, 38, shared a series of Instagram posts documenting her family’s visit to the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles.
    • Teigen was accompanied by her husband, John Legend, 45, and their four children: Luna, 8, Miles, 6, Esti, 16 months, and Wren, 11 months.
    • The first image showed a slightly flustered Teigen closing her eyes and flicking her hair while holding baby Esti in a museum room.
    • Legend was pictured standing behind Teigen, carrying Wren on his shoulders, as they marveled at a large gem inside a glass case.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s relationship is a well-known and admired love story in Hollywood. They first met in 2006 on the set of Legend’s “Stereo” music video, where Teigen was cast as his love interest.

Following the shoot, they shared a memorable evening eating In-N-Out burgers in Legend’s hotel room, sparking the beginning of their relationship. However, it wasn’t until months later, after Legend returned from touring, that they officially started dating. Teigen played it cool, allowing Legend the space to explore his options without rushing into a commitment, a strategy that ultimately paid off as they fell deeper in love.

Their relationship faced a minor setback when Legend briefly broke up with Teigen due to illness while on tour, but they quickly reconciled. The couple’s bond deepened over time, with Legend proposing during a trip to Lake Como, Italy, in 2007. They married in the same location in 2013, solidifying their commitment to each other.

Recently, Chrissy Teigen and John indulged themselves in a fun family adventure to the Natural History Museum with children Luna, Miles, Esti, and Wren. This was a memorable outing that occurred during Memorial Day; the entire incident was captured and shared on Instagram by Teigen, giving fans a glimpse of the beauty and mayhem of the holiday.

The first photo in the carousel was posted by Teigen where the star appeared to be a little embarrassed with her eyes closed and hair flipped back while holding her 16-month-old daughter, Esti, in one of the rooms of the museum. In the second captured moment, Legend can be seen standing behind Teigen, with their eleven-month-old child Wren on his back as the family looks at a big shiny stone enclosed in a glass box.

The third photograph showed Legend again with Wren on his shoulders in a staged conservatory with trees and plants. Teigen was photographed seated on a bench outdoors with Wren seated on her lap looking at their baby boy. The family then took a group photo in front of the T-Rex skeleton with Teigen carrying Esti with Legend holding Wren in one hand while Luna and Miles can be seen in the backdrop.

More photos showed Wren gesturing towards a tree in the conservatory area while holding balloons and Teigen taking a selfie with some purple flowers. The captions of the outing stated it as, “A beautiful, chaotic hour at the Natural History Museum” which depicted the playful spirit of the family.

The day before the museum trip, Teigen and Legend had quite the run-in at their Beverly Hills residence – a skunk had decided to visit them. Teigen detailed how the animal had left their house smelling terrible through Instagram Stories.

A trip to the Natural History Museum is the family’s usual practice in planning unique and educational outings for their children. Teigen and Legend have earlier visited the Frost Science Museum in Miami, Florida, and also set up occasions like the ‘Mad Hatter’ themed tea party for Teigen on this Mother’s Day.

Chrissy Teigen And John Legend Relationship Life

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are among the celebrity couples who are still together in Hollywood. To date, they have had many sweet moments in their love story starting from the moment they first met on the set of John Legend’s music video for Stereo in 2006 to their decision to renew their wedding vows in 2023 for their 10th wedding anniversary.

The couple first crossed paths on the set of Empire’s music video for ‘Stereo’, which featured Teigen as his love interest. Being on camera for 12 hours, they wound up spending a night in Legend’s hotel room with the filming of them eating In-N-Out burgers and getting intimate. While they would not start dating for several months their meeting that night was the start of what would become a contented and happy partnership.

During their time, they also encountered different issues, one is when Legend fell ill and decided to separate from Teigen while on tour. Though they have always proven their love and profess their love for each other on many occasions on different social networks, they love to show their romantic and even comedic side.

Some of the special occasions include one time when Legend surprised Teigen with an engagement ring while in the Maldives in December 2011. The plan to propose was nearly derailed when traveling through airport security, Chrissy Teigen asked them to search her hand luggage for the ring. However, Legend was able to preserve the surprise and when he proposed, placing the engagement ring on a plate of arugula, Teigen was frantic with happiness.

They also freely show their affection and include private aspects of their life in their Instagram posts and stories regularly. In an interview in 2014, Teigen noted that she had usually pretended for a long time that she did not like someone to avoid starting a serious date. Legend, for his part, said he had fallen for Teigen after talking on the phone with her and admiring her sense of humor and intelligence.

In 2013, Legend came up with the hit song “All of Me,” though it was widely considered an anthem for his girlfriend at the time, Teigen. The lyrics of the song such as the line: “What would I do without your smart mouth?” were perceived as a symbol of a powerful bond and a clear sign that they loved each other.

‘GOSPEL’: PBS Celebrates The Historical Legacy Of Gospel Music With Erica Campbell, Anthony Hamilton, Mali Music And More

Just in time for Black History Month, PBS celebrated the historical legacy of gospel music on February 9 with the premiere of a Gospel live concert honoring how the soul-stirring sound influenced generations of Black music across an array genres.

The lineup reflected this blend, too: Mali Music, LaTocha, Anthony Hamilton and The Ton3s, Lena Byrd Miles, Sheléa, John Legend, Tauren Wells, music director Alonzo “Zo” Harris and Erica Campbell who cohosted the show alongside Harvard scholar/documentarian Henry Louis Gates Jr.

Erica Campbell opened the event with a traditional hymn, while Mali Music came in smooth with a rendition of Sam Cooke’s “He’s So Wonderful.” LaTocha followed with a remix to Xscape’s “Who Can I Run To,” and in what seemed effortlessly, Lena Byrd Miles embodied the beauty of the art in the delivery of gospel music, single-handedly repping all five of The Clark Sisters with covers of “Blessed and Highly Favored” and “You Brought The Sunshine.” Between Sheléa’s fermata and Tauren Wells’ spin on Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground,” the show ended on a high note, but not before we learned about how gospel music directly impacted artists like Anthony Hamilton who honed his skills at Shiloh Baptist Church in Charlotte and John legend whose roots stem in the Pentecostal church where he learned to play the piano.

The PBS Gospel Live concert was a precursor to a 4-hour docu-series rooted in the power of gospel music.

Tying together the connection between gospel music and the Black experience, GOSPEL is a journey through decades of evolution in which the sound of gospel music shifted with the musical taste of the audience and cultural moments including the story-telling blues, the civil rights movement, the business of Black music, the emergence of hip-hop, and more.

Gospel music was born in the slave era, but through this collective series — featuring scholars from around the nation and prominent music industry leads like Jekalyn Carr, Dionne Warwick and Vicki Mack Lataillade — we’re given a visual of how it evolved into a movement of its own and served as a starting point for many artists and traditions that connected biblical stories to the stories of Black Americans.

From the “Godmother of Rock ’n’ Roll,” Sister Rosetta Tharpe, who at the beginning of her career mixed her unique guitar style with blues and traditional gospel music, to Kirk Franklin’s fusion of sounds that reached the unchurched, and the “million dollar voice” of Aretha Franklin’s father Rev. C.L. Franklin who organized Detroit’s 1963 march to freedom where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered an early version of his “I Have A Dream” speech, it was instances like these where preaching and singing came together in a popular form that would go on to reach billions worldwide.

While the genre has grown into a global spiritual art form, GOSPEL even dives into the impact Chicago and Detroit had on gospel music, along with how the Martin and Morris Music Company opened a door for commercial marketing as the most successful Black-owned music publisher of gospel music in America in the mid-1900s.

McEntire Brought To Tears By Contestant

Entertainment Tonight reported that Ruby Leigh, 16, to perform her coach McEntire’s 1990 single “You Lie.” During rehearsals, McEntire went so far as to say that Leigh performed the song better than she ever did.

Leigh knocked it out of the park with her live performance, bringing both McEntire and coach Gwen Stefani to tears.

“You blew it out of the water,” McEntire said as she wiped away tears. “Gwen and I are bawling!”

“There hasn’t been a time that you performed on this show that I haven’t gotten goosebumps,” coach Niall Horan said in  agreement. “You are insane!”

Check out the performance for yourself in the video below.

McEntire And Other Coaches Sound Off

On the red carpet of the live show, McEntire talked about how exciting this season of “The Voice” is, saying, “I really couldn’t tell you [who might win].”

Her fellow coach John Legend agreed with her.

“The depth of the talent this season is better than I’ve ever seen it on this show since I’ve been here,” he said. “This is my eighth season and I’ve never seen just this level of quality across the board. I’m so impressed with our artists this year.”

“I have some amazing singers, and I think it’s just gonna come down to at this point people start to fall in love with not just the voice, but the person as well,” Gwen Stefani added. “It’s ridiculous this season. I know we say that every season and it always feels like that, but this one has a particularly tall order.”

McEntire Replaces Blake Shelton On ‘The Voice’

This is McEntire’s first season serving as a main coach on “The Voice,” as she took the place of Blake Shelton after he left at the end of the 23rd season of the show earlier this year.

“It’s a lot of pressure, because nobody can replace Blake Shelton. He’s a huge personality and a wonderful person. So I’m just getting in there trying to have fun and represent country music as best I can,” McEntire told Newsweek back in September.

“It’s a well-oiled machine, so getting in at this time is marvelous,” she continued. “Everybody knows the game plan, from the crew, the producers. Everybody on the show is so nice, so sweet, and have been so helpful. I’m loving it.”

Stefani, who is married to Shelton, praised McEntire before the live show for how well she’s doing on the program.

“I think it is hard the first time you come here, ’cause its like, there’s just so much,” she said, according to WUSA9. “It’s also so amazing here — you get so inspired. I’m happy for her because I know that for someone that’s done everything in her life a million times over, to be able to kind of mentor people and to be able to watch the growth, it’s so inspiring.”

“Honestly she is so kind and so humble — I almost want to be like, ‘You’re Reba, like, stop!’” she continued with a laugh. “I think she’s just having such a blast and she’s gotten so good at the show really quick.”

McEntire chimed in to say that she’s learned some tricks since taking the coaching seat.

“The main thing that I have learned is to take it one minute at a time,” she said. “It is a lot to take in for the first time being a coach.”

    6. Justin Bieber – ‘Under The Mistletoe’

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” also makes an appearance on Justin Bieber’s first Christmas and second-ever album, Under The Mistletoe. Best known for the hit single “Santa Tell Me,” Christmas Kisses brings a touch of love and romance to the festive season, and is an absolute essential on any December playlist!

    2. Ella Fitzgerald – ‘Ella Wishes You A Swinging Christmas’

With her signature vocals and impeccable jazz arrangements, Ella Fitzgerald’s Ella Wishes You A Swinging Christmas is a timeless classic. Fitzgerald brings a touch of personality and unique style to these iconic holiday tunes. This is best seen in her rendition of “Jingle Bells,” where she hilariously exclaims, “I’m just crazy about horses” at the end of the song. With Ella Fitzgerald, your Christmas is sure to be a swinging one!

    1. John Legend – ‘A Legendary Christmas’

A John Legend holiday album has always been at the top of our Christmas list, so you can imagine how excited we were for the release of A Legendary Christmas back in 2018. Legend’s soulful vocals create a feeling of nostalgia and coziness that is just perfect for this time of year. We guarantee that you’ll be listening to this one for years to come!

The Voice Salaries: Here’s How Much The Coaches Make Per Season

Since it debuted in 2011, there have been more than a dozen coaches on The Voice, from country crooners like Blake Shelton to pop heartthrobs like Nick Jonas. Each judge (and contestant) is different, which is why The Voice salaries and how much coaches make per season on the NBC show aren’t the same either.

Of The Voice‘s 19-plus seasons, Shelton was the longest-serving—from its premiere season until season 23—so it’s assumed that he earned the most. Still, that isn’t to say that the other coaches make pennies. Each judge on The Voice—from Alicia Keys to Adam Levine—has had an esteemed career. And while The Voice hasn’t produced any household names (like, say, American Idol), the show has succeeded in bringing on top-tier talent for its coaches.

Levine told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in 2019 about how The Voice changed Maroon 5’s career and made him a household name. “I think when the band made [first album Songs About Jane] and had that all going on in the early 2000s, I think I was really young and also, it was a different time,” he said, noting that “not everyone had a camera on them at all times and you enjoyed a certain kind of privacy,” he said. “Then being on The Voice and stuff really changed that even more. It kind of launched me into the bizarre territory of being, I guess for lack of a better phrase, a household name.” Ahead, find out The Voice salaries and how much each coach made on their season.

What are The Voice salaries and how much do coaches make per season? Read on for what The Voice salaries are for coaches like Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and more, and how much they made.

    Blake Shelton (Seasons 1 – 23)

    The Voice: Blake Shelton
    Image: Trae Patton/NBC.

    Salary: $13 million per season

It’s unclear how much Shelton made in his first season on The Voice, but in 2016, around the same time as The Voice season 10, The Wrap reported that Shelton signed a deal with NBC to receive $13 million per season. Given that The Voice has two seasons a year, that means that Shelton rakes in an impressive $26 million a year—and maybe more if he’s signed a new deal since 2016. Celebrity Insider reported in 2019 that Shelton and his girlfriend, Gwen Stefan, received “an exceptional bonus to keep the spark alive on-camera” The source also noted that the bump made Shelton and Stefani’s salaries “significantly higher” than those of the other coaches.

    Adam Levine (Seasons 1 – 16)

    The Voice: Adam Levine
    Image: Trae Patton/NBC.

    Salary: $14 million per season

Like Shelton, Levine was also an OG coach on The Voice. He left after season 16, but in 2016, The Wrap reported that he signed the same deal as Shelton to receive $13 million per season ($26 million a year.) However, after Levine quit The Voice, The Hollywood Reporter claimed that his salary was even higher at more than $14 million per season and close to $30 million a year.

    Christina Aguilera (Seasons 1 – 3, 5, 8, 10)

Salary: $12.5 million – $17 million per season

The Wrap reported in 2014 that Aguilera made $17 million a season as a Voice coach in season 3 (much more than Levine and Shelton). The “Genie in a Bottle” singer quit after that season but returned in season 5, where she took a pay cut, according to The Wrap. For that season and onward, The Wrap reported that she earned $12.5 million a season.

    CeeLo Green (Seasons 1 – 3, 5)

    The Voice: CeeLo
    Image: Trae Patton/NBC.

Salary: $2 million – $6.5 million per season

CeeLo was one of the OG coaches of The Voice. He left after season 5, claiming that the show “quickly became a job.” Money Nation reported that the singer made $2 million for his first season, which makes sense given that he was less of a household name as the other coaches. By the time he left, though, CeeLo was able to receive a raise, which made his paychecks $6.5 million a season.

    Shakira (Season 4, 6)

    Salary: $12 million per season

Shakira never won a season on The Voice, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t walk away with an impressive paycheck. The Hollywood Reporter claimed in 2012 that Shakira signed a deal for $12 million a season, which was a lot for a coach on the early seasons of The Voice. It’s unclear if she received a pay raise when she returned for season 6, but if she did, she would’ve likely made around the same $14 million salary as Levine and Shelton.

    Usher (Season 4, 6)

    Image: NBC

    Salary: $7 million per season

Usher starred on the same two seasons as Shakira, but he made about half her salary. The Hollywood Reporter claimed that the “Yeah” singer made $7 million per season when he signed on in season 4. It’s unclear how much he made to return to The Voice in season 6, but it still likely wouldn’t have been close to any of the other coaches’ salaries.

    Gwen Stefani (Seasons 7, 9, 12, 17, 19, 22-24)

    The Voice: Gwen Stefani
    Image: Trae Patton/NBC.

    Salary: $13 million per season

Stefani became a Voice coach in season 7 and was paid $10 million a season at the time, according to CinemaBlend. However, the No Doubt singer received a $5 raise in season 12 after she and Shelton signed a deal to play up their romance for the cameras, which made her salary $13 million a season. It’s unclear how much Stefani received from The Voice to return as a coach for season 17 (Celebrity Insider reported that she and Shelton received another raise to show their romance onscreen), so it’s likely that she and Shelton earn around the $15 million mark.

    Pharrell Williams (Seasons 7 – 10)

The Voice: Pharrell & Taylor Swift
    Image; Trae Patton/NBC.

    Salary: $8 million per season

Feel Guide reported in 2014 that Pharrell signed a deal for $8 million a season when he debuted as a Voice coach in season 7. It isn’t known whether he received a pay bump for his later seasons, but given his lower salary when he started, it’s unlikely that his pay would’ve matched that of Shelton or Levine.

    Miley Cyrus (Seasons 11, 13)

    The Voice: Miley Cyrus
    Image: Trae Patton/NBC.

    Salary: $13 million per season

Cyrus was a Voice coach for seasons 11 and 13. Money Nation reports that the “Malibu” singer made $13 million a season for both seasons, which is a little less than what OGs Levine and Shelton made.

    Alicia Keys (Seasons 11 – 12, 14)

    The Voice: Alicia Keys
    Image: Trae Patton/NBC.

    Salary: $8 million per season

Money Nation reported in 2016 that Keys made $8 million a season, when she signed on as a Voice coach in season 11. The number isn’t as large as what Levine or Shelton made at the time, but it’s around the same as the pay of other non-OG voice coaches, like Pharrell and Usher.

    Jennifer Hudson (Seasons 13, 15)

    The Voice: Jennifer Hudson, Halsey
    Image: Justin Lubin/NBC.

    Salary: $8 million

There haven’t been any reports about what Hudson made on The Voice. But given that she’s an Oscar winner and a bonafide pop star, it’s likely that she made around the $8 million mark for her two seasons on the NBC singing competition. Given the salaries of her predecessors, it’s unlikely that she made more or even close to the salaries of OGs like Levine and Shelton, but we don’t estimate that Hudson’s salary was on the lower end either. Money Nation also reported in 2016 that first-time Voice judges make around $8 million for their first seasons.

    Kelly Clarkson (Seasons 14 – 21, 23)

    The Voice: Kelly Clarkson
    Image: Trae Patton/NBC.

    Salary: $15 million per season

When Clarkson debuted as a Voice coach in season 14, Radar Online reported that the American Idol winner signed a deal to receive $15 million per season (a.k.a. $28 million a year.) It’s unclear if the “Since U Been Gone” singer has received a raise since then (she has won three seasons), but if she has, her paycheck could likely be the highest of any Voice coach.

    John Legend (Seasons 16 – 22)

    The Voice: John Legend
    Image: Trae Patton/NBC.

    Salary: $13 million per season

It’s also unclear what Legend makes as a coach on The Voice. He signed on in season 16 and is a current coach on season 18. He’s also the first EGOT to be a coach on The Voice, which must earn him something, given that the man has about a bajillion Grammys. According to OK! magazine, he made $13 million per season as a judge.

Nick Jonas (Seasons 18, Season 20)

    The Voice: Nick Jonas
    Image: Trae Patton/NBC.

    Salary: $8 million

Season 18 marked Jonas’ first season as a Voice coach, so there’s little information about how much he was paid for the role. He’s also one of the younger singers to star on The Voice, so he could make a similar salary to Cyrus—$13 million—though that’s unlikely. Given his career, we estimate that he makes around the $8 to $10 million mark. Money Nation also reported in 2016 that first-time Voice judges make around $8 million for their first seasons.

    Ariana Grande (Season 21)

    Ariana Grande,
    Image: Trae Patton/NBC.

    Salary: $20 – $25 million per season

Grande announced that she will be a judge on The Voice season 21 in an instagram post in March 2021. “surprise !!! i am beyond thrilled, honored, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson @johnlegend @blakeshelton next season ~ season 21 of @nbcthevoice ! 🤍 @nickjonas we will miss you,” she wrote at the time. According to OK magazine, she will be paid $20 to $25 million for the season, which makes her the highest paid judge ever on The Voice. “Ariana is getting in the $20 to $25 million range to join the show,” a source told OK!, comparing the deal to Kelly Clarkson who “negotiated a whopping $15 million when she joined the show.”

    Camila Cabello (Season 22)

    Camila Cabello,
    Image: Tyler Golden/NBC.

    Salary: $8 million

Cabello made her debut on The Voice in September 2022 on season 22. While Cabello’s Voice salary hasn’t been confirmed, Money Nation reported in 2016 that first-time Voice judges make around $8 million for their first seasons.

    Niall Horan (Season 23, 24)

    Niall Horan,
    Image: Art Streiber/NBC.

    Salary: $8 million

Horan made his debut on The Voice in March 2023 as a coach on season 23. While his salary hasn’t been confirmed, The Sun reported that he was expected to make around $8 million per season, which is what other Voice coaches made for their first seasons. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Horan is worth $70 million.

    Chance the Rapper (Season 23)

    Chance the Rapper,
    Image: Art Streiber/NBC.

    Salary: $8 million

Chance the Rapper made his debut on The Voice in March 2023 as a coach on season 23. While Chance the Rapper’s salary hasn’t been confirmed, The Sun reported that he was expected to make $8 million per season, which is the starting salary for most Voice coaches for their first season.

    Reba McEntire (Season 24)

    Image: NBC

    Salary: $13 million

It hasn’t been publicly disclosed how much Reba McEntire makes per season of The Voice, but we can assume it hovers around the $13 million mark because that’s the average salary for hosts. McEntire replaced Shelton after he announced he was leaving after season 23. It matches what Shelton was being paid, too, and while $8 million is commonly the starting salary, McEntire has been a fixture on the show in other capacities.

The Voice is available to stream on Peacock. Here’s how to watch it for free.

  • Your Weekend Playlist: New Music To Listen To This Friday

Your Weekend Playlist: New Music To Listen To This Friday

It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve graced everyone with a new batch of fresh music…but like all inevitable things in life- love, loss, aging- I’m here again. Call me persistent, call me determined, call me relentless- I will not give up on finding new music worth listening to every single Friday.

I am overtly excited to share all of these tracks, spanning all different genres to give you a little taste of everything…because what’s a good playlist if not all over the place? Riddled with exciting beats, refreshing sounds, and unique vocals, the first week of November is proving to be one of the best weeks we’ve had for music in a while.

With your Spotify Wrapped being slowly curated, you can wait in anticipation by discovering all these new artists and songs! How convenient. You’re very welcome.

We don’t have time to waste, so let’s get listening!

Victoria Justice, Toby Gad- “Big Girls Don’t Cry”

Toby Gad is a collaborative genius- co-writing mega-hits like Beyonce’s “If I Were a Boy”, Demi Lovato’s “Skyscraper”, and John Legend’s “All Of Me”. He’s working on re-creating his extensive repertoire by recording piano versions…his latest installment being Fergie’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, accompanied by famed singer-actress Victoria Justice.

Justice’s strong vocals and ability to belt make her the perfect touch to Gad’s already iconic writing. When re-imagining music, you want to make it uniquely your own. Which is why Justice and Gad put such a refreshing, soothing approach on the song that makes it unlike anything you’ve heard before.

    Conan Gray- “Killing Me”

Conan Gray’s gentle tone yearns to move on in “Killing Me”, his latest track about being unable to move on from those relationships that are toxic. The hold they have on you remains, but you can’t seem to find any more redeemable qualities that keep you around. Those relationships feel like they’re killing you, and Conan Gray has a special way of putting it into words.

“I wrote “killing me” while I was sick with the flu. It was a miserable time where I was both physically sick, but also super heartbroken over somebody. Hence, ‘you’re KILLING me.’ I think we all have those people who don’t treat us nearly well enough, but we just can’t seem to let them go. People who call you at 2AM, and who you know you shouldn’t pick up……but you do. “Killing Me” is for when you’re on your last limb begging this person to just please stop torturing your heart.”

    ericdoa- “dancinwitsomebawdy”

At age 21, you wouldn’t expect ericdoa to be as experienced and talented at creating a hit track…but he is, and that’s what makes him a juggernaut in the hyperpop, rap scene. He blends genres into one that just makes sense, which “dancingwithsomebawdy” is an example of. The track gets us ready for a new album in the new year, “dancingwithsomebawdy” is both a thrill to listen to and a promise of what’s to come.

“I missed a lot of childhood being in meetings, obsessing over trying to be this artist that I wanted to become,” he says. “I really lost the freeing, adolescent feeling of just creating whatever I wanted.”

    ROSIE- “It’s Not Christmas”

The first holiday song on our Weekend Playlists! It was inevitable, but ROSIE’s is a beautiful encapsulation of what it’s like to miss someone during the holiday season. We know it as a time of celebration and to be around family, but don’t often consider what it may be like for those missing a person. A pleasant reminder to stay positive, ROSIE delivers a heart-warming holiday track.

“It’s Not Christmas” is about missing someone during the holiday season. Although this time of year is full of joy and magic for some, it can be extremely difficult for others, so I wrote a song for anyone who needs a reminder that’s it’s okay to be sad, even on Christmas!

Dax ft. Darius Rucker- “To Be A Man”

Nigerian-Canadian country rapper Dax has a way of molding country music into its own, special sound. Pairing up with hit country singer, Darius Rucker, makes “To Be A Man” even better thanks to his smooth sound that can complement anyone’s vocals. The track instantly went viral on Instagram, which makes sense due to its empowering, uplifting lyrics that hit home with any listener.

It’s an introspective, honest track that encourages you to look inside and acknowledge when you need help as well. It’s a look into mental health, the struggles we go through, and what it means to “be a man.”

    Zoe Ko- Baby Teeth

When you listen to Zoe Ko’s EP, Baby Teeth, you’ll get notes of pop-rock princesses like Gwen Stefani during her No Doubt days, Olivia Rodrigo, and maybe even a hint of Paramore in there. You’ll hear her cutting edge, witty lyrics and lilting voice that hits every note just right, and want even more from her.

Baby Teeth consists of five tracks to give you the perfect sampling of who Zoe Ko is as an artist: honest, funny, and edgy. In the world of Zoe Ko, there is something satisfying about the guitar riffs and confidence that exudes from this EP. She’s one to watch in the industry for sure.

Sammy Virji- “If U Need It”

Sammy Virji is on fire lately, “If U Need It” is the perfect track to go out and dance to. It’s got the makings of a staple on your going out playlist: a hook that makes you want to sing, a beat that makes you want to dance, and the innovativeness to sound fresh and new every time you hear it. “If U Need It” has it all.

Known for his risk-taking with his music, Sammy Virji is proving that he’s a name to be remembered in electronic dance music. We can’t wait to see what comes next, knowing that he delivers time after time.

    Joy (Anonymous)- Cult Classics

Joy Anonymous is here with their vital collection of tracks essential for a night on the dance floor. With all tracks technically (and cleverly) titled “JOY”, you’re getting what is considered Joy Anonymous to their core. It’s a bold mix of disco, house, soul, and classic EDM that works perfectly.

“Cult Classics is the soundtrack of Joy Anonymous meetings over the past two years. It began in Imogen Heap’s house in Romford. Where we spent two weeks working with various friends and new collaborators to form the skeletons of what was to become the album you hear today. Then we took these sounds on tour and tested them out in meetings around the world, honing and developing the sound on the move. Joy Anonymous is a movement where people feel included and feel safe to share expression and emotion. We have tried to capture that in the sound, process, and delivery of this album.”

    Take That- “This Life”

Gearing up to release their ninth studio album as a band, Take That shares the second single from their upcoming album, Brand New Sun. “This Life” is a showcasing of Take That- their vocals, their band, and their production skills all display their expertise in the industry. It’s polished, well-rounded, and a sign that Take That has it all figured out.

“It’s been a wonderful experience being back in the studio together making this record. It has that feeling of spreading your wings, letting out the old and bringing in the new” commented the band. ‘We’re incredibly proud of the new album – there’s a sense oftogetherness, whether that’s us coming back together as a band or people wantingconnection in their own lives. We’re excited for this new chapter!”

  • Reba McEntire Takes The Cake In Dramatic Entry To ‘The Voice’

Reba McEntire Takes The Cake In Dramatic Entry To ‘The Voice’

    By Brent Furdyk.

Reba McEntire is joining “The Voice” for the series’ 24th season, and the country music superstar is making a dramatic entrance in a new promo.

In the video, coach Niall Horan is seen cutting a large cake with the show’s logo in icing, when returning coaches John Legend and Gwen Sefani arrive, with Legend congratulating Horan on winning his first season.

“It’s good to be king,” Horan declares, prompting a warning from Stefani. “Don’t get used to it, buddy, it’s a whole new ball game,” she tells him.

“And I know that we all miss the cowboy, especially you,” Legend tells Stefani, referencing her husband Blake Shelton, who exited the show after Season 23. “But now that he’s gone, we might have a shot at the best country singer.”

“Nothing could ruin this,” muses Horan with a dream-like expression on his face, with his reverie interrupted by music blaring from speakers as the walls open up to reveal McEntire onstage, with pyrotechnics erupting as she stands in in front of a giant glittering sign reading “TEAM REBA.”

“Well hey there,” she says, “it’s just so good to be here!”

  • John Legend Dances With Baby Esti on His Shoulders During Family Vacation

John Legend Dances With Baby Esti on His Shoulders During Family Vacation

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are squeezing in one more family vacation before summer comes to an end. On Aug. 5, John Legend shared a video of himself and baby Esti in full vacation mode on Instagram. In the video, his and Teigen’s almost 7-month-old daughter sits on her dad’s shoulders as Legend dances to Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”

The dad of four holds on to Esti’s hands to support his daughter as he bops around in tropical swim shorts and white t-shirt. Meanwhile, Esti grins for the camera. Legend captioned his post, “We on vacation.”

While it’s unclear where Legend and Teigen are vacationing just yet, the family appear to be somewhere near a beach, as evidenced by the beach hut behind the “All of Me” singer. On Aug. 3, Legend shared his first snap from the family’s trip, which also featured a shot of him carrying Esti on his shoulders against a backdrop of tropical trees. “Angel on my shoulders,” he wrote.

This summer has been a special for Legend and Teigen. In addition to being their first summer with Esti, they also welcomed their youngest son, Wren, via surrogate in June. Wren and Esti joined their big sister Luna and big brother Miles — both of whom got to spend the night in Barbie’s Malibu Dreamhouse with their parents in July.

Even though she hasn’t celebrated her first birthday yet, this isn’t Esti’s first vacation. The little one previously joined her family on an Italian vacation in April ahead of her little brother’s arrival. At the time, Teigen marveled at how much her life has changed since she and Legend vacationed in Italy during the early days of their relationship. “We were just a couple of crazy child-free kids!” Teigen wrote on Instagram. “We took the water bus everywhere and ran through the alleys, making out like a couple of doofuses in lurve who never would have thought we’d be back with babies of our own! well john probably knew.”

Check out the gallery ahead to see all of the photos from Legend and Teigen’s summer vacation so far.

“For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted four children,” Teigen wrote, though she wondered if she’d ever be able to carry a child again after experiencing a miscarriage during her third pregnancy in 2020.

“After losing Jack, I didn’t think I’d be able to carry any more babies on my own,” she wrote.

Teigen writes that she and husband Legend, 44, contacted a surrogacy agency in 2021 with the intention of “having 2 tandem surrogates, to each bring us a healthy baby boy or girl.”

But early on in their surrogacy journey, Teigen says she came out of a therapy session and decided she wanted to try conceiving one more time.

“And so we restarted the IVF process, the same process that gave us our beautiful Luna and Miles,” Teigen writes, referencing her first two children with Legend, born in 2016 and 2018, respectively.

“We made new embryos. We did my transfer, and were so happy to learn it worked — we were pregnant with our little girl, Esti,” who was born in January this year.

Meanwhile, the couple were also in the early stages of Wren’s surrogacy, and had met Alexandra, “the most incredible, loving, compassionate surrogate we could ever imagine,” who would eventually give birth to their new baby boy.

Teigen revealed that the couple paid tribute to Alexandra with Wren’s middle name, Alexander, “a name forever connected to you,” Teigen wrote to her surrogate in her post. “We want to thank you for this incredible gift you have given us, Alexandra.”

When Alexandra became pregnant with Wren, Teigen writes that they celebrated with hot pot and “watched Vanderpump Rules with our growing bellies,” as Teigen was still pregnant with Esti at the time.

“Our hearts, and our home, are officially full. And to our Jack, we know both their angel kisses are from you,” the model concluded her post.

Legend marked the occasion by posting a picture of him and their children on Instagram, saying: “Wren Alexander Stephens, our new love.”

“We are in bliss”: Chrissy Teigen announces birth of 3rd child after losing unborn son in 2020

Model Chrissy Teigen announced Thursday that she gave birth to her third child with singer John Legend. Esti Maxine Stephens was born Jan. 13, the couple said in separate Instagram posts.

“The house is bustling and our family could not be happier,” Teigen wrote. “We are in bliss.”

“I’m in awe of Chrissy’s strength and resilience and I’m so thrilled to see how Luna and Miles embrace their baby sister,” Legend wrote. “I’m so, so grateful, but that doesn’t seem like a big enough word.”

The birth comes after Teigen had an abortion in 2020 after being told her unborn son, who the couple named Jack, would not survive. Teigen said she was hospitalized for excessive bleeding.

“It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn’t either without any medical intervention,” she said during an event in Los Angeles last year, according to The Hollywood reporter.

Teigen announced she was pregnant again in August 2022.

“I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing,” she said at the time.
