Taylor Swift isn’t the only major player who appears to be throwing their support behind Sophie Turner, the Game of Thrones star whose unraveling marriage to once and future BrotherJoe Jonas has everyone on their best behavior in front of the doorbell camera. An onscreen antagonist of Turner’s has taken a public stand in the divorce, seemingly choosing Sophie’s side in the parting.
It all began when author, social commentator, and Channing Tatum collaboratorRoxane Gay shared her thoughts on the latest news on the Turner/Jonas split, including details from Turner’s recent custody filing. “The way Joe Jonas miscalculated his popularity with his transparent attempts at PR manipulation, particularly when the North remembers, is FASCINATING,” Gay tweeted to her 877.2K followers on X (formerly Twitter).

“And holding the children’s passports to keep them from their mother? Bruh,” she said, an apparent response to Turner’s Thursday filing in Manhattan court, in which her attorney alleged that “The Father has possession of the children’s passports. He refuses to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children home to England with the Mother.”
Gay followed up that tweet, acknowledging that “these are not people I know or follow,” but that Jonas “has handled this SO badly that now I’m paying attention.”

Someone who does know the former couple is Jessica Chastain, who co-starred in the 2019 X-Men movie Dark Phoenix with Turner. But though Chastain played Vuk, a villain who faced off against Turner’s arguably heroic Jean Grey, in reality the actors appeared to be friendly, with a bond chronicled by publications like BuzzFeed.
It’s a friendship that Chastain put on center stage Friday, when she quote-tweeted Gay’s observations and referred to the author as “The Oracle.” Unlike Swift, who has appeared in public with Turner twice this week, the 46-year-old Oscar winner doesn’t have any past romantic history with Jonas that we’re aware of, though some outlets suggest she might have attended the pair’s July 2019 wedding ceremony.
Ever since the news of their divorce was made public, several articles painting Turner in a negative light have been published by media outlets — namely TMZ, which said that a source “with direct knowledge” told them, “She likes to party, he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles.” Page Six was quick to follow suit, publishing an article about Turner “downing shots” at a bar just “days before” the reports of her divorce were made public.
Life imitates art: It looks like Taylor Swift really is thick as thieves with a former flame’s (soon-to-be) ex-wife, as she sang to an unnamed party in her song “Vigilante Shit.” Swift was spotted out at dinner with Joe Jonas’s estranged spouse, Sophie Turner, for the second time in a week on Thursday.
The pair, who are now both on Jonas’s long list of ex-lovers, dined Thursday at Hôtel Barrière Fouquet’s New York, upping the sisters-before-misters ante this time by being joined by the trio of Haim sisters, Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim. The musical siblings are not only noted Swift pals, but also collaborators on her track “No Body, No Crime.” Earlier this week, Turner and Swift made headlines with a night out at Via Carota and Temple Bar in NYC.
Earlier Thursday, Turner filed a lawsuit against Jonas in a Manhattan court, requesting the immediate return of the couple’s two young daughters to England and claiming that Jonas has been withholding their passports. In the filing, obtained by Vanity Fair, Turner said that she found out about Jonas’s divorce filing through the media. She added that, before an August argument pinpointed as the sudden breaking point in their marriage, the couple planned for Turner to collect the children in New York and bring them back to her native England on September 20.
Jonas’s reps refuted Turner’s account point by point in a lengthy statement shared with VF, characterizing the suit as “an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending” and claiming Turner “was aware” that Jonas would be filing for divorce. The children have dual citizenship in the US and UK, though Jonas’s team’s statement insisted that “the children were born in the US and have spent the vast majority of their lives in the US. They are American citizens.”
Jonas filed for divorce in Florida on or about September 1, per Turner’s Thursday filing; his team’s statement claimed that to be “the appropriate jurisdiction for this case.” In Turner’s suit, however, she laid out her own evidence that Miami was not the family’s primary home, calling England the children’s “habitual residence.” Though Turner and Jonas initially released a joint statement calling the split “a united decision,” the case appears to have become increasingly contentious.
The divorce between Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner continues to get messier and more complicated by the day, and now Turner is suing her soon-to-be ex-husband and requesting that their two children be returned to England to live with her.
The documents also reveal that the custody arrangement that’s been in the works as part of the divorce proceedings has become a point of contention.
“On or about September 17, 2023, the parties met to discuss their separation,” the docs state, according to ET. “(Turner) reiterated the parties’ agreed plan for the children to return home to England that week. (Jonas) has possession of the children’s passports. He refuses to return the passports to (Turner) and refuses to send the children home to England with (Turner).”

The documents also allege that Turner found out about the divorce not from Jonas or his legal team – but from the media.
“The breakdown of the parties’ marriage happened very suddenly,” the documents state. “The parties had an argument on Aug. 15, 2023. On or about Sept. 1, 2023, (Jonas) filed a divorce case against (Turner) in Florida. On or about Sept. 5, 2023, (Turner) found out through the media that (Jonas) had filed for divorce.”

“After multiple conversations with Sophie, Joe initiated divorce proceedings in Florida, as Florida is the appropriate jurisdiction for the case,” his rep said in a statement, which was obtained by ET Canada.

“Sophie was aware that Joe was going to file for divorce. The Florida Court has already entered an order that restricts both parents from relocating the children. Sophie was served with this order on September 6, 2023, more than two weeks ago.”
The statement continued: “Joe and Sophie had a cordial meeting this past Sunday in New York, when Sophie came to New York to be with the kids. They have been with her since that meeting. Joe’s impression of the meeting was that they had reached an understanding that they would work together towards an amicable co-parenting setup.
“Less than 24 hours later, Sophie advised that she wanted to take the children permanently to the U.K. Thereafter, she demanded via this filing that Joe hand over the children’s passports so that she could take them out of the country immediately. If he complies, Joe will be in violation of the Florida Court order.”
The statement claims that Jonas wants “shared parenting” so that their kids are raised by both parents, and is “okay with the kids being raised in both the U.S. and U.K.”
The statement also asks that Turner “reconsider her harsh legal position and move forward in a more constructive and private manner.”
The celebrity couple, who were married for four years, announced they were getting divorced on Sept. 6. At the time, through a statement posted on their individual Instagram accounts, they called their split “amicable” and a “united decision.”
The past couple of weeks have proven anything but peaceful. When a slew of negative stories about Turner came out in the press in the days surrounding the divorce announcement, many pointed fingers at Jonas, accusing him of planting stories about Turner being a bad mom and partying too much.

Jonas has adamantly denied the claims, saying in Thursday’s statement that he “has already disavowed any and all statements purportedly made on his behalf that were disparaging of Sophie. They were made without his approval and are not consistent with his views.”
Relationship lessons ripped from the headlines
Turner is best known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones. The actor has also played Margaret Ratliff in the drama The Staircase and Jean Grey in the X-Men film franchise.
Jonas and his two brothers, Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas, make up the popular trio the Jonas Brothers. Together, they have starred in numerous Disney TV shows and released several hit songs, including Burnin’ Up, Sucker and Year 3000. The band released its sixth studio album in May and is currently touring the U.S.
Sophie Turner is suing Joe Jonas for “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained” amid the couple’s separation and impending divorce.
According to documents filed in a Manhattan court Thursday and obtained by Page Six, Turner requests the couple’s two daughters, 3-year-old Willa and the 1-year-old identified in their divorce filings as D., be taken immediately to Turner’s native England. The Game of Thrones actor also stated that she and Jonas had planned to make England their “forever home” and alleges that Jonas has been withholding the children’s passports.
“The Father has possession of the children’s passports,” the documents claim. “He refuses to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children home to England with the Mother.”
In a statement to Vanity Fair, Jonas’s representatives called the situation “an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending” and refuted some of Turner’s claims.
In her lawsuit, Turner claimed that over Christmas 2022, she and Jonas had made the decision to move to England permanently, and that “the parties were both excited for the family’s move.” According to her filing, the big move took place on April 10, 2023.

While the joint statement Turner and Jonas released earlier this month called their divorce a “united decision,” the new filing reveals the collapse of the couple’s marriage “happened very suddenly” after an argument on August 15, 2023 (which is also Jonas’s birthday). It also claims that though Jonas filed for divorce on or about September 1, citing “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken,” Turner found out on September 5 “through the media.”
Jonas’s initial court filing to dissolve the marriage, per People, stated that the children have been “residing with their father in Miami and other locations throughout the United States” over the past several months and that Jonas would seek joint custody of the children, and Turner’s new filing states that the “wrongful retention” of the children began Wednesday, September 20. In the paperwork, Turner claims that she agreed “with hesitation” to allow the children to travel with Jonas as he toured with the Jonas Brothers on their current tour, titled THE TOUR, while she filmed in England.
Sophie Turner has sued her estranged husband, Joe Jonas, for the return of their two young children to England, according to legal documents obtained by Page Six.
The petition comes weeks after Jonas, who tied the knot with Turner in 2019, filed for divorce from the “Game of Thrones” star.
Turner, 27, filed the lawsuit in a Manhattan court Thursday, alleging that Jonas has wrongfully retained the couple’s two young daughters in New York City since Sept. 20.
The filing seeks to secure “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained,” per the documents obtained by Page Six.
Turner also claims that she and Jonas agreed over Christmas 2022 that England would be their kids’ “forever home,” and they would start scouting out schools for their older daughter, Willa.
“The parties were both excited for the family’s move to England,” the legal documents reportedly say.
But things took a turn after Turner accused Jonas, 34, in the documents of withholding the children’s passports.
“The Father has possession of the children’s passports,” the documents claim. “He refuses to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children home to England with the Mother.”
Per the filing, Jonas’ attorney confirmed on Sept. 19 that he won’t return the passports and refuses to agree to let their daughters move internationally to live in England, seemingly kicking off Turner’s lawsuit.

Jonas and Turner welcomed their daughter Willa in 2020. The actor gave birth to their second daughter, whose name has not been made public, last year.
The famous pair had reportedly been experiencing “serious problems” for months prior to their split. The collapse of their marriage “happened very suddenly” after an argument on Aug. 15 of this year, according to Page Six.
The couple’s divorce filing says “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken,” according to a petition obtained by Today.com. Turner and Jonas reportedly had a prenuptial agreement in place.
An insider told OK! magazine that the singer was “incredibly checked out and detached” for some time before he put an end to their marriage.
“Joe seemed very sensitive, almost touchy, when asked anything about his wife or family-related,” the source said. “So I’m guessing things were on the rocks with them before that.”
Representatives for Turner and Jonas didn’t immediately respond to HuffPost’s requests for comment.
Turner and Jonas addressed their split earlier this month in a joint statement on Instagram.
“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” the pair wrote on Sept. 6. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Joe Jonas told the crowd at Saturday’s Jonas Brothers concert to not believe what they hear unless he says it, seemingly nodding to recent reports surrounding his divorce to actor Sophie Turner.
“It’s been a tough week,” Jonas said at the show at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium. “I just wanna say: Look, if you don’t hear it from these lips, don’t believe it. OK? Thank you everyone for your love and support. Me and my family love you guys.”

Since Jonas filed for divorce from Turner last week, several reports have been making the rounds, including claims that Turner’s partying ways led to the divorce or something Turner did or said on a Ring camera led to Jonas ending the marriage. Neither Jonas nor Turner have directly addressed specific reports, but in their joint statement announcing the divorce, they said it was a “united decision.”
“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” the statement reads. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Since the divorce announcement, statements Jonas and Turner had made in the past have been reevaluated. In May of 2022, Turner told Elle UK that she missed the United Kingdom and wanted to go back for her mental health.
“I miss England so much,” Turner said in the interview. “The people, the attitude, everything. I’m slowly dragging my husband back. I really love living in America but, for my mental health, I have to be around my friends and my family.”
“I was so nervous; I literally didn’t even know what it meant to hang out with a boy,” Hadid said, according to a 2015 Teen Vogue article. “And also, Grammys are on a Sunday, and I didn’t want to tell him that I had school the next day, so I was like, ‘No, maybe next time.’”
“I didn’t have my phone with me, and I don’t think he did either because we were at the Grammys, and so he wrote his number on a piece of paper and gave it to my mom,” she went on. “And then we’ve been friends ever since. Except now, we’re more than friends. Obvs.”
LOS ANGELES—Spitting into their palms to cement the deal, Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas reportedly made a tree-house pact Friday to divorce their mean wives and marry each other. “Everything was so much better when it was just us Jonas boys, and that’s how it should always be,” said newly separated Joe Jonas, slipping a Funyun onto his brother Nick’s ring finger and whispering, “Brother, you’re my wife now.” “We don’t need any gross, mean girls making everything complicated—we’ll just live in our cool tree fort forever and ever and have mom bring us snacks. What else could we need? It’s settled, I’m officially sending Sophie’s lawyer this sign that says ‘NO GIRLS ALLOWED.’ Well, except Mom, but she has to know the code word to enter. Now let’s practice kissing like we used to.” At press time, Kevin was seen sobbing and threatening to tattle to their mother after neither of his brothers wanted to marry him.
Emily Ratajkowski knows a thing or two about divorce ― and it’s “chic,” actually.
The “My Body” author posted a video on TikTok on Wednesday that was seemingly aimed at Sophie Turner, 27, who earlier that day confirmed she was splitting from husband Joe Jonas, 34.
“So, it seems that a lot of young ladies are getting divorced before they turn 30,” Ratajkowski said in her video, which she aptly captioned: “Personally I find it chic to be divorced by the age of 30.”
“As someone who got married at 26, has been separated for a little over a year [at] 32, I have to tell you, I don’t think there’s anything better,” the model said of her own split from ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard, adding that “being in your 20s is the trenches.”

“There is nothing better than being in your 30s, still being hot, maybe having a little bit of your own money, figuring out what you want to do with your life [and] everything, and having tried that married fantasy and realizing that it’s maybe not all it’s cracked up to be,” she said, explaining that “then you’ve got your whole life still ahead of you.”
“So for all of those people who are feeling stressed about that ― about being divorced ― it’s good,” she said, signing off with a double “Congratulations.”
One commenter wrote that they “skipped the marriage part and just stayed single.”
“Good for you,” Ratajkowski replied. “Wish I was that wise! I personally wouldn’t have understood marriage and would/ve worried about what I was missing in my 30s.”
Like Turner and Jonas, Ratajkowski and Bear-McClard, a movie producer, separated after four years of marriage. The former couple share one son, named Sylvester Apollo Bear.
Multiple women have accused Bear-McClard of sexual misconduct toward them when they were just teenagers.
Ratajkowski previously said that she “didn’t have the courage to leave” her ex-husband for a long time, and was “really, really unhappy.”
“I think so much of what I learned coming out of that relationship is to trust your instincts and gaslighting is a real thing,” she said during an appearance on the “Going Mental With Eileen Kelly” podcast back in March. “I didn’t understand that it was actually going to be so nice to come back to myself.”
Something that Sophie Turner allegedly said or did was the final straw in Joe Jonas’ decision to file for divorce.
According to TMZ, multiple sources who have direct contact with Joe told the outlet that the Jonas Brothers singer had access to a ring camera that caught Turner saying or doing something, which made him aware that their marriage was over.
TMZ, who broke the story, also reports that the couple’s marriage has been rocky for at least six months, mainly due to their significantly different lifestyles.
“She likes to party, he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles,” one source put it.
Meanwhile, over the past three months, Jonas has been taking care of their two kids the majority of the time. While Turner’s been in London, Jonas has been touring with his brothers, taking his daughters on the road with him.
Earlier on Wednesday, the couple broke their silence on their divorce in a joint statement, that insisted “this is a united decision.”
While most Americans were enjoying their Labor Day Weekend, news of another major Hollywood divorce trickled in.
On Sunday, TMZ published a report that performer Joe Jonas and Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner were headed for divorce after four years of marriage. People all but confirmed the rumor with the claim that Jonas had retained a divorce lawyer. On Monday, Jonas posted an uncaptioned photo on Instagram in which his wedding ring was front and center; fans flagged their relief in the comments, but the relief was short lived. Today.com reported on Tuesday that Jonas filed for dissolution of marriage on September 5 in Miami Dade County, claiming “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.” Vanity Fair has reached out to both Jonas and Turner for comment.
The couple was married in 2019—first in Las Vegas and then again in an elaborate wedding in the French countryside—and they share two children. Their daughter Willa is three and their second daughter, whose name they haven’t announced publicly, is 14 months. In August, TMZ also reported that the pair sold their Miami home for $15 million a year after they closed on it.
Per Today.com, the filing states that they have a prenuptial agreement, and the children have been with Jonas in Miami and in other locations (he’s currently on tour with the Jonas Brothers), but that “it is in the best interests of the minor children that the parties have shared parental responsibility.”
Jonas and Turner attended several events together this year, including the Vanity Fair Oscar party in March, and the ceremony for the Jonas Brothers’s star unveiling on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Sophie, what up homie,” Jonas said in his remarks at the ceremony. “You’re my partner in crime. You keep me motivated and inspired every day. I strive to be as cool as you. You got any plans after this?”
Jonas is currently on tour with the Jonas Brothers, and Turner appeared by his side at least during the band’s appearance in New York. She posted a photo of them holding hands from the Yankees stadium show on August 14, three weeks prior to the divorce filing.
Joe Jonas left his fans puzzled after he was seen wearing his wedding ring despite reports that he and Sophie Turner are on the heels of a divorce.
During a concert in Texas on Sunday night, the Jonas Brothers bandmate was spotted wearing his gold band while onstage at the Moody Center in Austin after multiplesources reported the news of the pair’s separation.
Jonas, 34, and Turner, 27, wed in 2019 during two ceremonies — one in Las Vegas and another in the Provence region of France.
The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Willa, in 2020, and the actor gave birth to their second child, whose name was not announced, last year.
Fans reacted on X (formerly known as Twitter) after photos of him wearing his ring at Sunday’s show hit the internet.

Over the Labor Day weekend, Jonas posted a snapshot on Instagram alongside his fellow bandmates and brothers, Kevin and Nick Jonas, as the trio sat by a fire pit at sunset.
Though Turner was notably missing from the photo, eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice that his wedding ring was on his left hand.
“Happy Labor Day weekend everyone,” the former Disney star captioned his post on Sunday. “This tour has be incredible so far! Having a little family time in the Texas sunset tonight before a big Austin show tomorrow.”
TMZ, which first broke the news of the pair’s impending divorce, reported that the two have been experiencing “serious problems” over the past six months.
A source also told People that Jonas has hired a divorce lawyer.
The “Game of Thrones” star has notably not attended any of the Jonas Brothers’ shows since Aug. 12, PageSix reported.
Representatives of Jonas and Turner did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.
Amid the split, Jonas has been reportedly caring for their two daughters “pretty much all of the time” over the past three months as he tours with his siblings around the U.S., according to TMZ.
Another insider told PageSix that “Joe is exploring the best options for his future.”
Neither Jonas nor Turner had publicly addressed the separation rumors as of Monday.
Last month, the couple appeared to be in good graces with each other when the “Do Revenge” actor posted an adorable birthday message for the musician on her Instagram story.
“Happy birthday handsome,” Turner wrote alongside a cozy photo of the duo wearing matching green-and-white pajamas.

tf joe jonas and sophie turner getting divorced?? true love really doesn’t exist anymore. only ryan and blake are my last hope now?
It looks like Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner may be parting ways after four years of marriage. On Sept. 3, People reported, per a source, that Jonas has retained a divorce lawyer. TMZ was the first to break the news. Reps for Jonas did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR’s request for comment. Meanwhile, Turner’s rep declined to comment.
This year, Turner supported Jonas at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, where he received a star with his brothers, Nick and Kevin. The couple also attended Vanity Fair’s 2023 Oscars afterparty in March. Most recently, Turner celebrated Jonas’s 34th birthday by posting a selfie of them wearing matching pajamas on Instagram. Turner captioned it, “happy birthday handsome.”
Nearly two decades into their careers, Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas are embarking on the most ambitious Jonas Brothers tour yet, and over the weekend they kicked it off with two sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium. The band, fronted by the brothers and rounded out by an ecosystem of collaborators and touring musicians, was joined by a few special guests, including Jimmy Fallon, who led the crowd in a rendition of The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside” during the intermission of Sunday’s show.

The tour is coming off the group’s newest release, The Album, a collection of songs playfully referencing ’70s and ’80s music and cowritten and produced by Jon Bellion. But with an eye toward the band’s deep fan base, every night’s show will also include nearly all the songs from its four most loved albums, starting from 2007’s Jonas Brothers. Ever since the band’s 2019 reunion, Jonas Brothers shows have included the group’s biggest hits from the Disney Channel days. But earlier this year, during a five-night run of Broadway shows, the musicians discovered a new appreciation for the deep cuts, which sound even more timeless now that pop punk is a lingua franca uniting artists in rock, rap, and country. The brothers, now in their 30s, were teenagers when they wrote their early albums, but with time, it’s become clear that the Jonas Brothers helped shape a generation with their brand of hook-focused power pop featuring catchy guitar riffs and sly asides.

“The show is really something special,” Kevin told Vanity Fair in a recent interview. “It’s a journey through our lives so far, you know? It’s cool to see people that know all of our music and fans that are on the newer side experience all this, this journey of our lives together.”
Before the weekend, the brothers sat down to explain the logic behind taking a trip down memory lane and revisiting five albums in one night. As Kevin himself noted on Twitter earlier this summer, it’s so many songs. If you add in all the other must-plays, it’s about 67. But they’ve managed to get it down to about three hours, and it’s a show that’s engaging for hardcore and casual fans alike.
This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.
Vanity Fair:You’re fitting so much music into one night. Were you thinking about doing it chronologically, Taylor Swift Eras-style? Or a bit more like what Beyoncé is doing withRenaissance, blending new and old thematically?
Joe Jonas: It’s a blend of all of those things. We know that we’re going to have a lot of newer fans coming to the show, as well as the OG fans who know the earlier albums. So we have the new album spaced throughout the set. We also have a lot of songs that were not necessarily part of albums—singles or songs from our individual projects—so we have a lot to play with. We wanted to build a really theatrical show that takes you on a musical, emotional journey if you’re a fan or not. We wanted to create a space where you’re just happy to be there, almost like the DJs up there mixing songs together. There’s a lot of medleys, because we can’t fit all of every song. What was the word we came up with for them?
Therapy is a wonderful, powerful tool. Without it, Joe Jonas may not have ever found the strength to wear white pants again. It’s often about processing and digesting the past, then letting it go. Jonas knows.
In an interview published Friday on the Will & Woody podcast, the Jonas Brothers band member shared something of a trauma dump when prompted to share a story from his life that he’d never told in the press. Without hesitation, the 33-year-old father of two, pulled a tale from the bowels of his memory.
“There’s a point in your life where, as an adult, you can remember the last time you shit your pants,” he said. Then he revealed that “about four years ago,” he suffered a bit of a wardrobe malfunction while on stage, something he’s dealt with thanks to “a lot of therapy.”
“Let’s just say it was a bad day to choose to wear white clothing,” he said of the incident. “You think it might be a little toot, it might have been a little something else, a little something extra. So it was like a mid-wardrobe shit change during the set.”
He clarified that “it wasn’t as big a deal as I thought,” though at the time he worried that fans would notice what sounded like an unplanned trumpet solo.
“Such is life,” he said, revealing that he feels a kinship with others who have suffered the same fate. “It’s happened to many artists. I feel like I’ve paid my dues and I’m part of some secret club now.”
One is the loneliest number, as we all know, but Danielle Jonas has some strong feelings about three, it seems. During a recent podcast interview, Danielle, wife of eldest Jonas BrotherKevin, revealed that she sometimes feels like the odd one out when compared to her sisters-in-law.
In an episode of the LadyGang podcast released June 27, Danielle and Kevin gave a frank interview in which Danielle revealed that she can feel like the last crayon in the box in comparison to Nick Jonas’s wife Priyanka Chopra-Jonas and Joe Jonas’s wife Sophie Turner. Chopra-Jonas and Turner are both big-name actors, while Danielle’s top IMDb credit is for the reality show Married to Jonas. She’s quite literally most famous for being married to a Jonas Brother. And, yeah, she feels weird about it!
“I’m also finding like my place in it,” she said, “because the two boys [Nick and Joe] married somebody who, they’re actresses, they’re out there, everyone knows them, and I feel like I’m Danielle, you know? It’s hard.”
She has an ally in Kevin, who also feels the sting of comparison.
“I feel that way, too,” he said. “Like you said, Nick and Joe, right, like solo careers, movies, all the stuff. It’s like, everyone has to find their place, no matter the situation.”
He said that the key for both himself and Danielle is “communicating, talking through it.”
“We always get compared to the people around you most,” Kevin said, pointing out that the podcast had started with a discussion amongst the hosts over which brother they favored. (Kevin got points for “fingering the guitar,” it’s worth noting.)
While Danielle has her hands full with her jewelry company, not to mention her marriage and their two children, she admitted to struggling with her public image.
“I’m out there celebrity-wise because I married you,” she said. “And that’s where like, it’s like, I want to have something else to my name, too, so that it feels—I don’t know—more than, or like the other girls, because then when I’m with the other girls, I feel just less-than sometimes. It’s weird.”
One claim to fame that is entirely hers? Kevin’s glow-up.
“She worked on me every single minute of every single day,” Kevin said of his wife, pointing out that she “pushes me to work out,” and that she was a strong voice in getting him to stop straightening his hair and embrace his natural curls.
And, perhaps most importantly? “No more scarves,” she said.
We all know that one couple that refuses to tone it down and turn it off. I’m talking excessive PDA, feeding each other, and — heaven forfend! — chattering to each other in baby voices. I shiver and cringe every time I hang out with them. But when it comes to overly cutesy couple behaviors, there’s one thing I kind of respect: epic couple’s style.
I’m not talking about matching Christmas pajamas or themed Halloween outfits. I’m talking about when a couple’s aesthetic melds exquisitely. They don’t have to match, but maybe they borrow each others’ clothes? It’s 2023 after all, gendered fashion is sooooo last decade.
When a couple looks good together, they elevate each other’s individual style. It’s like a miniature version of the cheerleader effect, which occurs when a group of people seems hotter just by being in that group. By the same logic, two cool outfits are exponentially more impressive than one.
Though the concept is simple, this occurs less often than you’d think. Good couple’s style is surprisingly rare. Everywhere I look, I see iterations of that one Ed Sheeran and Beyonce meme — one person is dressed to the nines, and the other must have dressed in the dark.
This isn’t exclusive to straight couples. In so many instances, one person is the star, the other person lets them shine. And while that’s all well and good, I’m here to say it doesn’t have to be this way! We can all be the star! A teeny bit of effort goes a long way to take a twosome to the next level.
And I can’t stress this enough: this isn’t about matching clothes or even being color-coded. It’s about each look complimenting the other, playing off each other like any solid relationship should. It’s about whimsy! Camp! Good old-fashioned sartorial fun!
Luckily, some of our favorite celeb couples have been pulling absolutely excellent fits recently. I don’t know what’s in the air, but duo dressing has never been hotter.
To inspire your other half — or even platonic pairing — to step it up, elevate your own fire fits, and — for lack of a better term — slay, here’s some inspo:

Hailey and Justin Bieber
The ultimate duo, Hailey and Justin have proven they don’t give AF about the rumors and TikTok beef swirling around them. Instead, they’ve made a series of appearances looking unbothered and, most importantly, delightfully co-ordinated. Their fits are tight and so is their marriage.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky
Who can hold a candle to these two? Long before they were officially together — let alone had a child together with another on the way — they were some of the best-dressed celebs on the planet. I mean, people called Rocky the “male Rihanna” for years based on his daring dressing. While nothing can beat their pregnancy announcement pap pics, recent outfits have come pretty close. (Perhaps it’s simply the allure of this specific Loewe sweater.)
Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz
The absolute, coolest couple out there right now. Could it be because they remind us of like, every couple in Bushwick? This is a prime example of how the right partner can unlock fresh side to you. We’re living for Channing’s buzzcut and basement-boy style. And although their actual pieces are an assemblage of expensive items, the overall aesthetic is aspirational but accessible.
Joe and Sophie Turner
Joe’s come a long way from the skinny ties and skinnier jeans of the OG Jonas Brother days. His latest aesthetic is peak Notita Dirtbag — see: his recent guide to NYC. Essentially, he embodies one of those, trendy dudes you see waiting in line for a coffee at ALD on Mott St. And Sophie Turner? Looks like his even cooler counterpart.
Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham
The king and queen of nepo-babies, these two were born, bred, and swaddled in glamour since birth. So, it’s no surprise that they keep up the glamour in great, complimentary fits. And this one boasts a red herring: a surprisingly stylish, budget-smart H&M dress. We’ll be adding that to cart instantly.
Tom and Zendaya
Thanks to Law Roach, this dynamic duo has been running the runway from the instant they went public as a match — in fact, they were a formidable match before their relationship was official. Their endlessly iconic fits prove that complementary dressing can take each individual outfit to the next level. We’ll be talking about their style for eons.
Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Russell
Indulge me on this one: I know they’re not a couple, but these two know how to do a press tour. Their characters in Bones and All were a masterclass in peak dirtbag style but their red carpet looks are the epitome of elegance. This is what every fashionable couple aspires to — even if they’re not (as far as we know, right???) actually together. The best-dressed item that never was. (Plus: a bonus Luca)
