The longtime couple have been collaborating on music and dating on and off since the release of their joint album, Twenty88, in 2016. In November 2022, the musicians announced the arrival of their son, Noah Hasani, on Instagram.
In the years since, the couple have been quiet about their relationship, and in recent days, rumors have started swirling that the pair called it quits. While it’s not exactly clear where the speculation started, Sean only further fueled the chatter when he was seen in a video next to a rumored new fling.
Footage of the rapper and the mystery woman went viral, paired with claims Sean left Jhené for this new girl. Things got so blown out of proportion that Detroit felt the need to set the record straight–though he didn’t speak on his relationship status.
The headline on an Instagram post shared by No Skips Tea read: “Damn! Big Sean Spotted With Alleged New Girlfriend After Wasting Jhene Aiko’s Time for 10 Years.” The post contained clip of footage from a livestream hosted by YouTuber N3on, showing Sean enter a room filled with people, including a woman who was standing closely by him.
The rapper didn’t interact with the woman, but fans still ran with the idea that he had a new girlfriend, which lead to Sean leaving two comments under the post to clear things up.
“Yeah unfortunately i never met this person in my life lol,” he wrote in his first comment.
The second read, “This girl was standing next to @hitboy who is cut out the video. I dont know why the f**k she was so close to me though. I didnt see it at all til i saw this video and can understand the frustrations. Smh 😂. But i dont even know this person at all.”
While Sean was adamant about shutting down any romance rumors, he didn’t comment on his status with Jhené. Having been together for so long without a ring, fans were already questioning their relationship, which Sean commented on last year.
In August 2024, Charlamange Tha God asked Sean why he hadn’t married Aiko, which is when the rapper shut down claims he and Aiko had “a secret industry marriage.”
“We’ve had our ups and downs, you know what I’m saying? And I think it’s still finding the right navigation through it all. To me, marriage symbolizes, like, the best relationship,” he said at the time. “I would like to, and I don’t like putting our personal business out there like that either, but there’s a lot of work that needs to be done.”
Jhené Aiko and Big Sean are undeniably one of music’s most beloved couples and collaborators. Fans have wanted them together since their 2016 album, ‘Twenty88.’ Well, everyone’s wish came true as the duo solidified their status by welcoming their first child together in November 2022.
Before confirming the arrival of their baby, the Detroit rapper and Los Angeles-bred songstress experienced an on-again, off-again relationship. Recently, a viral clip from Jhené’s Los Angeles concert on July 31 seemingly hinted that she might want to take their relationship a step further.

September 2017: Jhené Aiko Confirms Feelings For Big Sean
In 2017, Jhené discussed her relationship with Big Sean for the first time in an exclusive interview with Billboard. She expressed her appreciation for their bond, noting that they started out as friends.
“When I met Sean, I had a boyfriend and he was showing interest in me, but I was like, I have a boyfriend. But we were friends, it was never, nothing disrespectful ever happened between me and Sean. We were forced to really, really get to know each other on a friendship level, you know what I mean? And to the point where he was even at my brother’s funeral. We talk to each other on a friendship level throughout all of my relationship.”
The ‘Stay Ready’ singer further explained that years later, they chose to consider a relationship since they were both single at the time.
“It just came to a point where it was like, ‘I’m single, you’re single, we love each other.’ We actually already loved each other as people and then it was like, Okay, let’s just, you know, be together. So it was different because of that friendship. That comes first, we’re friends before anything. We can bicker like a friendship.”
Jhené revealed that she considers Sean like family because of their long friendship and sees him as the love of her life.
“I don’t know what the future holds, but as far as my life goes right now, yeah, he’s L-O-M-L,” she told Billboard.
March 2019: The Singer Sparks Breakup Talks
Despite their blossoming romance, the musicians quietly confirmed their decision to part ways. In fact, Jhené sparked the conversation with her comment on an Instagram post from The Shade Room.
The ‘Above and Beyond’ musician shared a photo of herself in the studio on her Instagram Story at the time, captioning it, “Tonight . . . 3 new freestyles complete. 2019. Speaking truth only. You cannot control me. I’m feeling strangely sane today.”
After a social media user jumped into The Shade Room comment section, writing, “Well. Big Sean… she finna snitch.” Jhené quickly responded to share an update on her and Sean.
“Me and Sean are good. I’ve got tons of love for him. My next album is all freestyles, where I touch on many subjects and relationships … past, present, and future. I know you all love the drama and would like to think everything I do or say is about him, but I’ve been through plenty of other things and situations that I pull inspiration from when I sit down to create a song. Have a good day,” she wrote.

November 2022: Musicians Welcome Their First Child
In November 2022, congratulations were in order for the couple as they confirmed their arrival and welcomed their first son, Noah Hasani.
Noah is Sean’s first child and Jhene’s second. She shares a 15-year-old daughter, Namiko Love, with Omarion’s brother O’Ryan.
Now, Jhené Aiko and Big Sean are going viral after he surprised fans at her ‘The Magic Hour’ tour stop in Los Angeles.
While fans excitedly watched Sean surprise everyone at the concert, a moment between him and Aiko is now going viral. The 12-second clip shows Sean rapping the first verse of his song ‘Beware’ to Jhené.
“…’Cause you take anything and just make it everything. Kept my phone on silent ever since you got a ring, funny, right? And I never cheated; I mean, maybe once or twice. But one time don’t change everything. She ask why I don’t feel the same…”
As he rapped, Jhené seemingly made dismissive gestures at him. When he reached the lyrics ” Got a Ring,” Jhené looked at her hand, turned to him, and said,“What ring?” Trying not to laugh, Big Sean walked over to Jhené and tapped the same that she extended.
In a new interview with Charlamagne Tha God, Big Sean explained his stance on marrying his son’s mother.
Jhené Aiko hits Orlando this Saturday on her “Magic Hour” tour with openers Coi Leray, Tink, Umi and Kiana Lede, and this femme-forward show is bound to be a trip.
Aiko originally planned the Magic Hour trek in 2020 after releasing her album Chilomb, but the COVID-19 pandemic put the brakes on that.
In the meantime Aiko was far from idle, even releasing an R&B album for babies to sleep to, Sleep Soul, after giving birth to her second child in 2022. Aside from some festival appearances, this is Aiko’s first headlining tour in more than four years.
Aiko started out as a member of R&B outfit B2K in 2002, but now she makes her own brand of soul music suffused with elements of spirituality, netting her six Grammy nominations. The spiritual artist taps into her inner self live with elements of stagecraft that are symbolic and energy-related, including lights representing a colorful aura and a giant white flower opening up during the show.
R&B singer-songwriter Jhene Aiko just announced “The Magic Hour Tour,” her first headlining tour in five years, and she’s kicking it off on the right foot with an opening stop in Detroit.
The show on Wednesday, June 19 is set for Little Caesars Arena at 7 p.m.
Joining Aiko on the journey are R&B and rap queens Coi Leray, Tink, Umi, and Kiana Lede, although it’s yet to be revealed which openers will accompany her at which city or if they will all be performing throughout the entire tour.
In a series of Instagram posts announcing the tour, Aiko also revealed a snippet of a new song that fans hope to soon hear in full. Her most recent release was the single “Sun/Son,” on January 5. The soothing, heartfelt track honors the child she welcomed in late 2022 alongside Detroit-born rapper Big Sean.
Aside from a project of R&B sleep music for babies, Aiko hasn’t released a full-length album since Chilombo in 2020, so hopefully the tour and the new tracks mean a new LP is coming soon.
The six-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter was last in Detroit to perform at the Mo Pop Festival in the summer of 2022, and Detroit fans have missed her ever since. So, what better way for Aiko and Detroiters to celebrate Juneteenth than with some great music in a great city?
“The Magic Hour Tour” will span North America, with 26 stops in the U.S. and one in Toronto, ending in Columbus, Ohio on Aug. 22.
Presale tickets go on sale starting Wednesday, March 27 at 10 a.m., while tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 29 at 10 a.m.
Big Sean and Jhené Aiko are sharing with their fans a glimpse into their parenting journey on TikTok.
The longtime couple posted a video of a cozy moment featuring their infant son, Noah Hasani, on Saturday.
In the clip, posted to Sean’s TikTok account, the “TWENTY88” collaborators are sitting in what appears to be Noah’s nursery, facing each other as Aiko gently bounces the nearly 3-month-old across her shoulder.
Earnestly looking into Aiko’s eyes, Sean starts lip-syncing to their 2015 hit, “I Know.”
“I know you’ve been runnin’ on empty,” he begins.
With Aiko joining in to lip-sync alongside him, he continues mouthing the hook’s lyrics, “Don’t love the same, I know you’ve been diving through pain/ I know you runnin’ so crazy, I know you runnin’ on empty/ That shit can fuck with your mente/I know this shit, don’t you tempt me, I know you.”
When Sean gets to the lyrics, “The way you move it’s like you could use a vacation,” the lyrical couple give each other an empathizing and tender gaze. The video has already racked up more than 2 million likes on TikTok.
In the popular song’s official music video, the hit-making lovebirds form a bond as they look forward to a getaway where they can relieve their stress, which is arguably applicable to their latest adventure together — welcoming their first child together in November.
While Aiko is already a mom to 13-year-old daughter Namiko Love, whom she shares with R&B singer O’Ryan, the couple’s child is Sean’s first baby.
The beloved duo announced Noah’s birth on Instagram on Nov. 8. “After 24 hours of labor, a total lunar eclipse, and while it was pouring rain… he came,” Aiko wrote in the post’s caption. “My baby Yoda, my Sani.”
Aiko and Sean ― who released their joint album “TWENTY88” together in 2016 ― started dating that same year following years of rumors.
In 2020, the two were seen flirting during a joint Instagram Live, with Sean joking that he was going to pop the big question.
“Why don’t you marry me,” Aiko asked.
“It’s in the works,” Sean replied, to which she bantered, “Whatever, I don’t need no man.”
Last February, Sean revealed a forthcoming collaborative project with Aiko during an Instagram Live with Queen Naija.
“I’m here working on a new album, a new ‘TWENTY88,’ me and Jhené,” the Detroit rapper said smiling. “Shit, we’ve been working on it for a little bit… It’s coming along good, though.”
The couple’s first “TWENTY88” project debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, selling 40,000 copies in its first week.
The longtime couple announced their son’s birth on Instagram Friday. The newborn, named Noah Hasani, arrived on Nov. 8.
“After 24 hours of labor, a total lunar eclipse, and while it was pouring rain… he came,” Aiko wrote in the post’s caption. “My baby Yoda, my Sani.”
The singer shared a slideshow of photos capturing moments before and after the baby’s arrival. In the last photo, Aiko can be seen snuggling next to Noah.
Aiko is also mom to her 14-year-old daughter Namiko Love, whom she shares with singer O’Ryan Browner.
Big Sean also celebrated Noah’s arrival with a series of photos he posted on Instagram. In one photo, the Detroit rapper can be seen sharing a skin-to-skin moment with the baby.
“Any and everything for you, Son,” he wrote in the post’s caption.
Jhené Aiko and Big Sean are now parents to a baby boy named Noah Hasani. He was born on Nov. 8.
