Meghan Markle Wears A Sentimental Piece of Princess Diana’s Jewelry In Nigeria

    [ad_1]

Prince Harry, the younger son of the late Princess Diana, has been vocal about keeping his mother’s memory and legacy alive. One way he includes the former Princess of Wales in his daily life is by sharing some of her treasured jewelry with his wife, Meghan Markle.

Meghan was spotted Saturday during the couple’s trip to Nigeria wearing a delicate diamond cross pendant on a gold chain, a necklace that once belonged to Princess Diana. According to People, the sweet jewelry was a recent gift from Harry to Meghan.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending a handful of days abroad without their two children, appearing at engagements around the Invictus Games and their other efforts. Harry, for instance, played volleyball against wounded veterans. He lost.

Meghan doesn’t just dust off her late mother-in-law’s jewels for special occasions: Two of the diamonds in her tri-stone engagement ring also belonged to Diana, and Harry had them set into the special piece of jewelry for his 2017 proposal so his mother would part of the occasion.

She began wearing Diana’s pieces immediately after marrying Harry, donning an aquamarine cocktail ring belonging to her for her wedding reception, keeping it very visible as the newlyweds waved to admirers from their car, and has been spotted wearing a Cartier watch that Diana favored. She also integrates color schemes and nods at the mother-in-law she never met with fashion choices alongside her jewelry pulls, and was reportedly dubbed “Di 2” by some palace insiders early in her royal career.

Burglars broke into a Cape May jeweler early Sunday morning and made off with vintage Chanel, Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton handbags valued at more than $300,000, the store said.

Queen May Jewelry, which sells designer purses in addition to rings and necklaces, posted surveillance video on Instagram of three people in hooded sweatshirts smashing the glass of the shop’s front door and then climbing through to grab armfuls of merchandise.

The jeweler said the burglary occurred at 2:59 a.m. Sunday, and is asking for the public’s help in identifying the thieves. On Monday, an employee said there had been no updates in the case, but that Cape May Police are investigating.

A dispatcher for Cape May County Communications added that officers are asking nearby businesses for surveillance footage as part of their investigation.

The stolen items include a 1961 Gucci tote, a vintage Chanel camera bag and a Louis Vuitton soccer ball made for France’s 1998 World Cup victory. Queen May Jewelry also mentioned a “rare” Louis Vuitton trunk, inscribed with the name Jenny Hecht, in its Instagram post. The store provided the serial numbers of the roughly 40 stolen items in its post and asked customers to forward the information to pawn shops and secondhand sellers.

Where we used to see fingers weighed down by dozens of tiny, stackable rings, we’re now more accustomed to a carefully curated selection of heirloom-style pieces — one of which being the beloved signet rings. Pinky rings were once used as a stamp of sorts, designed with your family crest, signature or monogrammed initials embedded on the front. Now, long since the Medieval Ages when this ring style was first designed, signet rings are worn more for their looks than anything else.

9 Tried & Tested Tarnish-Free “Gold” Jewelry Brands

    [ad_1]

The general consensus among jewelry experts is that solid gold is the only way to guarantee your jewelry will remain tarnish-free. That said, many budget-friendly brands have put a new gold-plating technique into practice, and so far it’s seen impressive results. Known as physical vapor deposition (PVD), this new technique is ten times thicker than regular gold plating, making pieces much less susceptible to corrosion, tarnishing, or fading. Comparing the real-deal investment pieces with these cost-friendly PVD picks, we’ve yet to notice a difference in the tarnish-free stakes following several showers, sea swims, and sweat sessions.

  • All the things you wanted to know about Super Bowl rings but were afraid to ask

All the things you wanted to know about Super Bowl rings but were afraid to ask

    [ad_1]

Winning the Super Bowl brings more than a trip to Disney World and a nice financial bonus, it also gives players access to some of the best bling on the planet.

A Super Bowl ring, in some ways, carries more prestige than the Lombardi trophy. It’s certainly more permanent, as players don’t have to return them after a year. Part of what’s special about them, though, is their unique nature.

No two years’ Super Bowl rings are the same. Some are diamond-studded and gaudy. Some are subtle. And, in general, virtually no one knows how much they cost.

The exact cost of manufacturing a Super Bowl ring is a secret the league chooses not to publicize. But there are some hints that show how costs have increased as the rings become flashier and flashier.

Who gets a Super Bowl ring?

It’s not just players and coaches! Team owners have latitude to offer a Super Bowl ring to anyone they want to and that often includes cheerleaders and even janitors. And the 2020 Collective Bargaining Agreement set rules that ensured practice squad players also got a ring, though those are allowed to be of a “lesser value” should the team owners prefer.

How much does it cost to make a Super Bowl ring?

The price for a Super Bowl ring varies, often wildly. While the league doesn’t give a figure, some reports have put the cost of a set of team rings at $5 million or so. And the fancier the owners want them to be, the higher the price. In 2015, the New England Patriots gave players a ring with 205 diamonds, which cost $5.475 million, an estimated $36,500 each (according to ESPN).

Only part of that cost is picked up by the NFL—roughly somewhere between $5,000 and $7,000 per ring. Team owners pay the remainder.

How much is a Super Bowl ring worth?

Obviously, that varies based on the year, but in those rare instances when former players put their rings up for auction, the price tags soar, often topping $100,000.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft once sold his Super Bowl LI ring for charity, with the winning bidder paying more than $1 million.

Does the losing team get a Super Bowl ring?

Just like players on the losing Super Bowl team get a nice financial bonus for playing in the Big Game, they also end up with some jewelry of their own, though it’s a bit less prestigious. Those players receive a conference championship ring, which might be a bit less blingy, but they’re still showcases.

Who makes the Super Bowl rings?

Most of the time that would be Jostens. The jeweler, perhaps better known for its high school and college ring business, has made 38 of the 57 Super Bowl rings, including the very first, which was designed by Vince Lombardi himself. Other rings have been made by Balfour and Tiffany’s.

If you didn’t think it was possible to get high-quality gold jewelry at reasonable and affordable prices, Oradina is here to prove otherwise. The family-owned jewelry brand, which was conceptualized three generations ago in 1956 Beirut as a crystal shop, has shifted and expanded into a modern “everyday gold jewelry” brand now based in New York. All these decades later, the low rates for Oradina gold jewelry have stayed relatively the same, making it accessible to many shoppers.

And, unlike many other companies, Oradina doesn’t use substitutes like gold plating or gold vermeil, which eventually make the metals underneath oxidize and tarnish. Instead, it only uses ethically sourced 10k, 14k, and 18k solid gold crafted in Italy. Right now, you can enjoy solid gold (and white gold and rose gold) jewelry at even more affordable prices during Oradina’s sitewide V-Day Sale. I’m a Jewelry Expert—5 Trends You’re Going to See Everywhere in 2024

    [ad_1]

There was always something a bit special about rummaging through my grandmother’s jewelry drawer when I was a child, picking through earlobe-numbing chunky studs and gaudy yet nostalgic clip-on earrings. The world felt infinite in my mother’s heels and my grandmother’s gold-knot jewelry when I was 10. For Heaven Mayhem founder Pia Mance, her late grandmother’s vintage jewelry isn’t just gold-plated goodness to put on with a little black dress on her way to cocktails with friends—it has grown into a multimillion-dollar empire.

You may have caught a glimpse of Heaven Mayhem, the jewelry and accessory line started by Mance in 2022, on your feed, whether it be on the ears of your college best friends or your celebrity parasocial besties. Hailey Bieber, Matilda DjerfAimee Song, and Justine Skye are all fans, so naturally, the brand has only blown up in the last few years thanks to its massive star backing and viral-worthy covets on social media. Before Heaven Mayhem was Heaven Mayhem, though, Mance started off the same as all of us: slowly going through her mother’s and grandmother’s old things.

“Growing up, I loved going through my mum’s closet and rummaging through her clothes, shoes, tights, but I was always very drawn toward the accessory selection, as she held on to a lot of my late grandmother’s pieces from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s,” Mance tells me. “Those pieces weren’t designer or anything, but they were all so well-made, timeless, and special to me. To be able to create similar pieces like that, which I really resonate with, holds a special meaning in my heart.”
