Jacob Elordi’s candid street style photos have reached peak viral status. The Euphoria star is no stranger to fashion; he’s challenged the gender norms of style on the cover of VMan magazine thanks to stylist Nicola Formichetti (of Lady Gaga fame), and he attended the 2022 Met Gala looking modernly dapper in a custom crystal-embellished Burberry suit. Still, it’s his fashion choices on the streets that have received attention from anyone with access to WiFi. You know you’re well on your way to fashion icon status when you’re being compared to Princess Diana, after all. Not to mention when you literally play Elvis Presley in this year’s Priscilla.

His laidback, cool-boy style mixes ’90s dad vibes and California grunge with an emphasis on the quiet luxury aesthetic TikTok is loving right now. It seems each time Elordi steps out, one of his closet staples causes a stir among the fashion set: from the excessively luxurious Bottega Veneta Andiamo bag to the very reasonably priced and popular Adidas Gazelle sneakers. While we don’t condone navigating the city streets barefoot as he did recently (unless you’re Aussie), we can definitely vouch for the Sundae School fleece he was sporting with his latest viral look.

Below, shop 13 pieces assured to get you Elordi’s sporty chic style.

  • Borrowed From the Boys: Hailey and Taylor Make the Case For Girls in Menswear

Borrowed From the Boys: Hailey and Taylor Make the Case For Girls in Menswear

    [ad_1]

Halloweekend came with its parade of stunning, spooky celebrity looks. But before the star-studded parties and the outrageous costumes, some major streetwear fits were thrown by some of our favorite style girlies. And, like we predicted for the fall, menswear is in for everyone — just ask Hailey Bieber and Taylor Swift.

First, Taylor — on the heels of her 1989 (Taylor’s Version) smash hit rerelease — has been making headlines for more than just her music and her new man. Just like in 2014, when Taylor Swift moved to New York and wrote the original 1989 album, the superstar was often spotted out in the city with her girl gang, living the Sex and the City dream.

Years later, the queen of New York is back. Paparazzi spot her every night dining with the likes of Sophie Turner and Blake Lively, and they also see her every day strutting through the West Village. Her most recent outfit made a case for two of the hottest seasonal trends: menswear and prep.

Taylor sported an oversized Stella McCartney rugby shirt as a mini dress, accessorized with a cool girl Ralph Lauren dad hat and an enviable pair of knee-high Prada boots (here’s the Steve Madden dupe). While Swift dressed up the rugby look, it’s a menswear fit that will go down in the fashion history books.

And if that wasn’t enough for my Pinterest boards, then the Biebers stepped out in a charming and disarming couple’s fit as they so often do. Justin wore a silky pair of argyle dress pants with an open dress shirt and tasseled Santoni loafers. He paired it with a leather jacket and sunglasses to add some rockstar edge to the uncharacteristically straight-laced look. But Hailey rocked the standout look of the night. For once, Hailey was the more casual of the two — and after he wore that sweatsuit while she donned a killer red mini, I never thought I’d see the day.

Hailey dressed for the weather in a long coat from celebrity-favorite brand, Khaite. For a lesser dresser, the coat would’ve been the standout piece — and Hailey has made headlines in the past few weeks for rocking men’s coats and statement jackets. But Hailey paired this piece with a surprising menswear choice: overalls.

The kind of piece you can find at any flea market, surplus store, or for $45 on Amazon, Hailey dressed up these Dickies denim overalls with heels and chic sunglasses to transform the daytime denim into an enviable date night stunner

In fact, denim and a long black coat is one of the hottest fall menswear trends — just ask Bradley Cooper (getting style tips from Gigi Hadid, perhaps?) and Jacob Elordi, who is on his fashion press tour for Priscilla andSaltburn.

So, if you had any doubts, let this be the proof that the borrowed-from-the-boys aesthetic is in for the fall. Inspired to take it for a spin? Here are some choice pieces to dress up for your next day out or date night.

  • Jacob Elordi on Priscilla: ‘The Most I Knew of Elvis Was in Lilo & Stitch’

Jacob Elordi on Priscilla: ‘The Most I Knew of Elvis Was in Lilo & Stitch’

    [ad_1]

Prior to starring in Sofia Coppola‘s Priscilla, Jacob Elordi’s Elvis Presley knowledge came solely from Disney’s Lilo & Stitch.

Appearing on a recent episode of the Tonight Show, via Entertainment Weekly, Elordi admitted he learned who Elvis Presley was because of 2002’s Lilo & Stitch. “The most I knew of Elvis was in Lilo & Stitch,” Elordi said. ”Which is a lot!”

In Lilo & Stitch, Lilo (voiced by Daveigh Chase) is a diehard Elvis Presley fan who imparts her knowledge of the world-famous musician to her adopted pet alien, Stitch. The movie’s soundtrack also contains several Elvis Presley songs, including Burning Love, Suspicious Minds, Hound Dog, and more.

“Sofia had sent me these sides that said Elvis and I kinda just was like, ‘There’s no chance that this is happening.’ I watched this clip of him when he came back from the Army in Germany and read the lines for like 15 minutes and then shot two takes not thinking it would go anywhere,” Elordi further said of the role.

    What is Priscilla about?

“When teenage Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, the man who is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a gentle best friend,” reads the synopsis. “Through Priscilla’s eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla’s long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt and ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame.”

Based on the 1985 Elvis and Me memoir, Priscilla is written and directed by Coppola. Along with  Elordi, the movie stars Cailee Spaeny, Raine Monroe Boland, Emily Mitchell, Dagmara Domińczyk, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll, Luke Humphrey, and Dan Beirne.

Priscilla is getting a limited theatrical release on October 27, 2023, before it expands wide on November 3, 2023.

  • Between Austin Butler and Jacob Elordi, Elvis’s Real Accent Never Stood a Chance

Between Austin Butler and Jacob Elordi, Elvis’s Real Accent Never Stood a Chance

    [ad_1]

Elvis’s real accent has left the building. Following the release of A24’s “Priscilla” trailer, Jacob Elordi’s thick drawl is already being compared to Austin Butler’s unshakeable Southern twang. “Jacob Elordi looks and sounds like Elvis Presley; much more so than Austin Butler did,” one commenter wrote in reaction to the Oct. 3 video. Others had their doubts.

One person noted that the “goofiness” of Elordi’s Elvis accent might detract from the suspenseful nature of the Sofia Coppola-led film. Some also compared Elordi’s dialect to his hot-headed “Euphoria” character, Nate Jacobs. “Looks good but he sounds a little like the giraffe from the ‘Madagascar’ movie,” a particularly candid viewer wrote, referencing David Schwimmer’s lovable Melman.

Of course, Butler was not immune from accent-centric criticism either. Throughout his reign as the king of rock n’ roll, the rigorous schedule for Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” seemed to take a toll on his Southern California vocals. His movie accent intercepted speeches, popped up in daily conversations, and even became the subject of interviews, forcing him to evaluate just how immersed he really was. “I don’t think I sound like him still, but I guess [it must be] because I hear it a lot,” he told Variety in the press room at the 2023 Golden Globes. “I had three years where [Elvis] was my only focus in life, so I’m sure there’s just pieces of my DNA that will always be linked in that way.”

Now Elordi gets to take a turn in the proverbial hot seat, portraying a darker side to Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s relationship with a deep, gravelly accent to match. Elordi is used to playing the villain, and maybe that’s why his take on the elusive accent already seems somewhat familiar. At this point though, we’re not convinced any actor will completely nail it. Ultimately, both versions are artistic portrayals and should be treated as such. No matter what, the Elvis accent has reentered the cultural zeitgeist, and that’s what counts.

  • What the Hell is “Saltburn”?

    What the Hell is “Saltburn”?

    [ad_1]

I’m a sucker for a good trailer. Especially with music video-esque cinematography, tension-raising teasers, and a really fucking good score. And after months of waiting, the first teaser for Saltburn just dropped. No surprise to say, it’s just what the doctor ordered.

Starring Barry Keoghan as Oliver Quick, a working-class Liverpudlian scouser who falls in with a rich but careless crowd, the movie is set to be the psychological thriller of the winter. From director Emerald Fennell, who won awards for her debut Promising Young Woman, it’s what we’ve all been waiting for: a decadent display of desire set in the world of the wealthy.

Watch the irresistible, intriguing teaser here — careful, just like me, you’ll be left wanting more:

    Saltburn | Official Teaser Trailerwww.youtube.com

Barry Keoghan has been one of the hottest young actors on the scene for a few years, and he’s finally getting a starring role. After scene-stealing supportive roles in The Banshees of Inisherin,The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and even big blockbuster movies like The Batman, Eternals, and Dunkirk, Keoghan finally gets to show his chops as a leading man.

The film chronicles his obsession with the aristocratic peers he meets at Oxford University, who show him a life of eccentricity and opulence when he is invited to Saltburm, the English countryside estate of Felix Catton, played by Jacob Elordi (of, you know, that little show Euphoria). Together, they have a “a summer never to be forgotten,” with supporting roles by Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver, Ewan Mitchell, Archie Madekwe, Lolly Adefioe, Reece Shearsmith, and Paul Rhys. You can also expect Carey Mulligan, who starred in Fennell’s Promising Young Woman.

Saltburn just premiered at the 50th Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2023. And now, with the trailer making waves across the internet — with the lush landscape, the vibrant cinematography, the homoeroticism … I mean, of course — the countdown is on for Saltburn.

The MGM film will make its debut with a limited theatrical release on November 24, 2023, then a wide release on December 1, 2023.

  • A Guide To Men’s Summer Fashion 2023

    A Guide To Men’s Summer Fashion 2023

    [ad_1]

Summer is fast approaching. Before you know it I’ll be writing one of these articles about men’s fall fashion. Don’t let me get too ahead of myself here, I write this adjacent to the beach slightly sunburnt. But the easiest way to get a sense of what people are wearing when they’re out and about on their summer trips.

Whether you’re out on weekends sitting on a rooftop somewhere in New York City, or you’re at the beach somewhere admiring the waves, the summer is a great time to sit outside and admire fashion. The summer is when people feel more comfortable taking bigger risks with their fits.

Maybe it’s because there’s so much vacationing going on…you’ll never see half of these people again, so why not wear that crochet button-down you’ve had in your closet for a special occasion?

@notfashunjustin What to wear in the spring and summer time without breaking the bank #tiktokfashion#springsummerstyle#mensfashion#affordablefashion#frugalfashion#streetwear#ruleofthirds#proportions♬ Sunday – HNNY

If you’re lost on what’s going on in men’s fashion right now and need to refresh your closet this summer…or you just want to get some hot new pieces for the season…I’ve got you. I’ve compiled celeb styles, scoured
GQ, and found the best men’s fashion for summer 2023.

    The Basics

You’re going to need a few basic items to use as layering tools for your best summer fits. Think plain loose tanks and tees in neutral colors like white, black, and taupe to wear under button-downs or by themself. I always say that if you have a few basic shirts, you can make a billion outfits.

The key to these basics is that they are looser fit, which can complement any body type and gives your outfit a more fashionable touch.

@mgustini#greenscreen all look so good #fyp#foryoupage#men#mensfashion#fashion#styling#stylingadvice#streetwear#preppy#vintage#thrifting#corporate#work#summer#summeroutfits♬ original sound – grace

    The Materials

In these warmer months, don’t be afraid to play around with cooling materials such as linen, mesh, and crochet. Ironically, these are the top three materials that are popular in men’s fashion this summer. In fact, it’s all about crochet.

Looser knit shirts will help you stay cool while looking even cooler. Fabrics like mesh and crochet give your outfit a ’70s vibe that has been ever prevalent and popular in the fashion world for the past few years.

An easy outfit idea is to pair one short-sleeved button-down shirt of any fun material like linen with a loose-fit tank underneath, and a pair of tailored pants. It’s fun and casual, but stylish nonetheless. It looks classic on every man and is super easy to play around with and accessorize with a bucket hat or cool sneakers.

    The Bottoms

One of my favorite male everyday style icons is Jacob Elordi, who simply knows how to dress himself on all occasions. If you haven’t noticed, he’s become a fan of a looser fitting tailored bottom, which is also popular among male celebrities like Harry Styles, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Justin Bieber, and more.

A loose-fit linen pant or chino has become the summer staple for men everywhere. Sure, the classic fitted pants are still acceptable, but get more playful with the fit of your pants! It could be fun (and more comfortable).

Another popular summer bottom for men are shorts that can double as
swim trunks. They don’t necessarily have to look like they’re designed for swimming, but they can be super functional and quick-drying, which means they cool you down from the heat as well.

    The Tops

You’ve heard me mention basic tees and tanks as layering tools…and of course the popular short-sleeve button-down. Polo-esque shirts are (and always will be) a summer staple because of how multi-functional they are. A notched neck or a collared shirt can make you look more polished without having to try so hard.

Get playful with your shirts by taking the classics with a twist. A terry cloth or sweater material automatically makes your outfit more interesting. Keep it neutral and include pops of color in your accessories or shoes and you have an instant outfit.

  • This Summer’s Hottest Sneaker Is Very Familiar

This Summer’s Hottest Sneaker Is Very Familiar

    [ad_1]

Every summer, I’m faced with the same, annoying issue: what is going to be my go-to shoe? What’s the shoe that is being shoved on my foot as I run hastily out the door, already late to my prior commitments? For the daytime, I need something functional, able to be dressed up or down…for the night, a trendy platform that won’t kill my ankles and toes.

And no, the daytime option shouldn’t always be a pair of flip-flops. While I would love to traipse around in my Rainbows all day, fashion icons would scoff at my choice of thong sandal if I wore them out too much. Lisa Vanderpump believes everyone should wear heels all the time, but even I can’t commit to that.

And since I always wear my summer shoes down to their soles, I will be getting my money’s worth out of them…so they have to be good. And they have to match with almost everything – biker shorts, denim shorts, maybe a sundress if I want. Normally, the go-to option would be a stark white sneaker like the Air Force 1 or perhaps a New Balance 550 if I wish.

But this year, something has changed.
Summer’s hottest sneaker isn’t new by any means…in fact, it’s a classic in both the soccer (or should I say football?) world and the fashion world since I’ve been alive. That’s right, everyone is obsessed with the adidas Samba sneaker again.

    @dailycarinaibsen wait for it 😒 #adidas#adidassamba#musthave#popularsneakers#sneakers#samba#fyp#denmark♬ original sound – 👀

The Samba is a flat-style shoe so iconic that I can perfectly picture in my head as I write this. Created for indoor soccer stars, the classic model was predominantly black with the white stripes on the sides. And while Sambas weren’t always the public’s favorite streetwear sneaker, they most certainly are now.

Everyone famous you know is wearing the shoes. Don’t believe me? See Harry Styles, Jacob Elordi, Kaia Gerber, Emily Ratajkowski, and Bella Hadid. Or maybe check out
the shoes Katie Holmes, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky all wear. The list could go on if I had the time, but I don’t. Go to any trendy neighborhood, trendy bar, or trendy influencer’s feed — you’ll see them.

The Samba has been around since 1950, and has been featured on the feet of iconic figures in pop culture. So much so, that they have cycled as a staple in the closets of the rich and the famous. The best part? They’re accessible to the not-so-rich-and-famous.

    The original
adidas Samba sneakers skyrocketed into a streetwear staple, making any outfit instantly cooler…but it was the collabs with high fashion brands like Gucci that solidified their place in the fashion world. Gucci x adidas highlights both of the brands classic looks: for adidas, the Gazelle style, for Gucci, pops of color with hints of suede in the shoe.

Similarly, adidas collabed with German-based luxury brand Kith, where they shared their take on the Stan Smith and the sister of
the Samba, the Gazelle. With more affordable pricing than the Gucci collaboration, Kith is one of the trendier brands on the market right now.

@carly_mcdowell Replying to @kristinnicolemiller_ adidas sambas outfit inspo as seen on the celebs + fashion girlies! #adidassambas#adidassamba#celebstyle#celebrityoutfits#haileybieberstyle#kendalljennerstyle#bellahadidstyle#streetstyleinspo♬ B.O.T.A. (Baddest Of Them All) – Eliza Rose & Interplanetary Criminal

GQ has called it the sneaker of the summer for the past three summers, a fan favorite of influencers and trend followers alike. However, the high fashion connoisseurs hate them. Calling them overdone, others lamenting that they wouldn’t be “caught dead” in the fan-favorite shoe.

So, if you want a shoe that’s insanely trendy…and truly will never go out of style…then the
adidas Samba is for you. And if you’re a fan of Quiet Luxury or Stealth Wealth, the Gucci collection might be for you.

  • 2022: The Year Gen Z F–kboys Infiltrated Pop Culture

2022: The Year Gen Z F–kboys Infiltrated Pop Culture

    [ad_1]

Every generation gets the onscreen fuckboy they deserve—pop-culture representations of the all-too-common breed of man sleazy enough to raise problems, but charming enough to make you forget them for a while. In 2022, the first proper Generation Z model infiltrated movies and TV.

As a species, we’ve long been fascinated with the fuckboy, which is defined by Urban Dictionary as a man who is “fundamentally confused,” “superficially intimate,” and “unable to truly respect and be present with any woman he is with.” Past generations’ fuckboys have included The Graduate’s Benjamin Braddock, Sex and the City’s Mr. Big, Andy’s boyfriend, Nate, in The Devil Wears Prada, and Jason Bateman’s character in Juno. These men are not Billy Zane-in-Titanic-level offenders, lewd dudes who are just outright villains. Instead, they lure you in with grilled cheeses or promises to adopt your unborn child, taking and taking until you’re left with nothing but a specific appreciation for the Taylor Swift lyric, “Karma is my boyfriend.”

Members of Generation Z, as defined by Pew Research Center, are those born between 1997 (that’s me) and 2012, and are now ages 10 to 25. The eldest of this range can still remember life with Blockbuster DVDs, but without smartphones. The youngest, however, were born after Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram had come to define many aspects of everyday life.

This generation in fuckboy has been dabbled in before, namely via Jacob Elordi’s number one gaslighter Nate in Euphoria and some of the smarmier men on both The Sex Lives of College Girls and Industry, all of which returned for second seasons this year on HBO. And who could forget the now dearly departed reality-competition series, Fboy Island, where embracing this identity was incentivized for a cash prize and oodles of Instagram followers? But this space truly started to scuzz up over the summer with the release of Hulu’s Not Okay, A24’s Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, and Netflix’s Do Revenge—a heightened, spiritual trilogy in how Gen Z operates. Within those films—all starring and made by women—emerged an unmistakable commentary on male toxicity, as brought to life by Dylan O’Brien, Pete Davidson, and Austin Abrams, respectively, in a trio of fuckboy characters.

Other entries into this canon would emerge with Hulu’s Tell Me Lies (although that story is technically set in the mid-2000s, Stephen’s patchwork of red flags, as embodied by Jackson White, feel apiece with current Fboy discourse) and HBO’s The White Lotus with Leo Woodall’s “cock” hat-wearing Love Island proxy Jack (and despite his most white-knuckled efforts, occasionally Adam DiMarco’s Albie). As Meghann Fahy’s Daphne put it on the latter show: “I feel sorry for men, you know. They think they’re out there doing something really important, but really they’re just wandering alone.”

In their searching, Gen Z men have often reverted to fuckboy-ery, which abides by three Fs: being fickle, fragile, and falsely feminist. And conveniently enough, in 2022 movies’ and TV’s worst offenders followed this scientifically sound theory.

First, this generation’s fuckboys are particularly fickle, with unlimited options at their disposal via dating apps and social media. Enter Not Okay’s Colin, played by O’Brien. He’s the culture-appropriating weed influencer who Zoey Deutch’s wannabe tastemaker Danni (the film’s “unlikable female protagonist”) so desperately wants to impress. Colin breadcrumbs his vape-clouded attention so sparingly that Danni will stop at nothing, even falsely placing herself at the site of a global tragedy, just to get a follow back. Just as quickly as she earns it, Colin is gone again—but not before calling Danni his “damaged little girl” midway through a cringeworthy hookup.

“Colin, to me, represents all of these scum-bro culture-vulture fuckboys of the internet who embody all of the worst things,” Not Okay writer-director Quinn Shephard told Vanity Fair. “Colin is sort of a walking example of everything that Danni idolizes, and everything that she wants to be.” Shephard added, “Danni has a conscience deep down. I just think that she lacks self-education and self-awareness. I don’t know that Colin has a conscience anywhere.” Deutch couldn’t resist one more dig. “I also think Colin is unintelligent,” she said. “Like a-many-of fuckboys are.”
