  • Strictly star Balvinder Sopal hits back following Shirley Ballas’ criticism as she addresses being in the dance off

    [ad_1]

Strictly It Takes Two tonight (Tuesday, October 14) saw Balvinder Sopal discuss being in the dance off on Sunday night’s show (October 12).

Balvinder and her pro dance partner, Julian Caillon, danced off against Ross King and Jowita Przystal on Sunday, with Ross being sent home by the judges.

Speaking to Fleur East during tonight’s show, Balvinder addressed her performance on Saturday (October 11), which saw Shirley Ballas criticise her footwork and technique.

“The footwork for me was by no means very good,” Shirley said at the time.

“Hold on, hold on, because I do believe that Balvinder is going to go far. But she’s not going to go far if everything is mushy and cushy and ‘oh you’re just great’. I want her to learn something. I want you to pay attention to a heel turn. Heel turns were missed. The slows weren’t quite there. The quick quicks looked a bit stuck. So I believe that with all this beauty and finesse that you have given, you are stunning, but footwork will need attention.”

Shirley then gave them a score of six.

Speaking about the foxtrot, Balvinder said: “Well, I’m very proud. When I watched it back, I thought it looked absolutely beautiful. We played the parts really beautifully. I think audiences connected with it as well. You know, there was a real warmth to the foxtrot. And it was beautiful to dance as well.”

    ‘Something went amiss’

Continuing, Balvinder laughed: “felt like we were connected, but something went amiss.”

The star then went on to say that each week, it gets “easier” confidence-wise as she knows the “formula now”. She added that it helps having an audience there, cheering them on and wanting them to do well.

Balvinder then went on to speak about the “incredible” support she’s received over the weekend.

“My phone was on fire with messages of support and people disagreeing with the outcome,” she then said.

The star then continued, saying that the support “kind of restored a little bit of confidence in me, you know, that we are hitting all the right tones with the public, which is a great thing.

“I think people thought we were safe, which is maybe why they didn’t vote for us…,” she then said.

“But, you know, at the same time, there’s always going to be two couples in the bottom two, and you just never know which way it’s gonna go,” Julian then added.

Balvinder then added that they handled being in the bottom two “really well” and were “really calm”.

“I was actually more stressed about the fact that Bal was calm, because either she is pumped, she’s ready to go, or it’s absolutely fallen apart. Deep down I knew that we were going to go out there and do our thing,” Julian then added.

Strictly Come Dancing star Stefan Dennis appeared on It Takes Two via video message tonight (October 13) and confirmed that he and Dianne Buswell are back in the training room.

Stefan and Dianne were forced to miss Saturday night’s live show (October 11) after the Neighbours heart-throb fell ill.

However, on the BBC Two spin-off show tonight, Stefan confirmed that he’s back dancing with Dianne. It came after his wife Gail cast doubt on his future in the competition.

    Stefan Dennis confirms Strictly future

The pair appeared on It Takes Two tonight and Stefan confirmed that he is planning on being back in the ballroom this coming weekend.

He also explained that he and Dianne have been back in rehearsals today.

He said: “Hi everyone. Just want to say thank you very much for all your support and well wishes while I was away last week. We’re back in the training room and, if all goes well – which it will – I’m going to be back on the floor with the lovely Dianne this Saturday. I’m looking forward to it.”

Dianne then said: “And what dance are we doing?” “We might be just doing the Charleston,” he said, as they both gave a jazz hands wave.

The Strictly pro then commented: “But honestly, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the support and love. And we are very, very excited to be back in the training room. Mwah!”

What happened to Stefan Dennis last week?

Stefan and Dianne were forced to miss Saturday’s live show – a Movie Week special – due to the actor’s illness.

A statement shared on Friday night by the BBC read: “Due to illness over the past few days, Stefan Dennis has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, he will not dance this weekend.”

It added: “In line with the rules of Strictly, Stefan and Dianne will receive a bye through to next week when they will hopefully be able to dance again.”

Stefan had been due to perform a Waltz with Dianne on Saturday night. Dressed as Shrek, they were due to dance to It Is You (I Have Loved) from the movie. Dianne did feature on the show in the Clauditorium. However, Stefan was noticeably absent.

  • Vicky Pattison supported as Strictly future confirmed after pulling out of BBC show

    [ad_1]

Vicky Pattison’s future on Strictly Come Dancing has been confirmed after she was struck by an illness.

The reality star is one of the many famous faces taking part in this year’s series of the glitzy BBC One show. Earlier this week, she was due to appear on It Takes Two, but was forced to pull out of the Strictly companion show due to her health.

Vicky Pattison later issued an update and shared a pic of her receiving an IV drip. And on Thursday (October 9) the presenter returned to screens for spin-off show It Takes Two.

Vicky Pattison returns to Strictly It Takes Two

On Thursday (October 9) Strictly’s It Take Two returned to screens with Fleur East back at the helm. On the show, she chatted to stars Vicky Pattison and pro dancer Kai Widdrington.

Last week, the pair performed a Foxtrot to Rein Me In by Sam Fender that went down a treat with the fans and judges, whom awarded them 24 points.

Talking about the routine on It Takes Two, Fleur told Vicky: “You were absolutely beaming after your performance, how were you feeling?”

Vicky replied: “I was really nervous. I just wanted to do it justice with it being that beautiful song by Sam Fender, it being one of Kai’s dances and I did feel the pressure but we did okay…”

    Vicky’s future confirmed

Confirming that she is well enough to dance this weekend, Fleur revealed Vicky and Kai will be performing a Charleston to the song A Little Party Never Killed Nobody, in a The Great Gatsby themed performance for Movie Week.

“The scene that we’re doing is a really famous party scene from The Great Gatsby,” Vicky said.

She explained: “Everyone is dancing, drinking, the champagne is flowing. They are letting their hair down and having a good time. I’m sorry Fleur but that’s a bit of me! I don’t even have to act!”

Meanwhile, viewers watching It Takes Two were delighted to see Vicky back, following her illness. On X, one person said: “Love Vicky.”

Another added: “Vicky feels so genuine.” A third chimed in: “Love this pairing so much. Can’t wait for her Movie Week dance.”

  • Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden admits it ‘was short and sweet’ as she appears emotional over exit

    [ad_1]

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden appeared to get teary-eyed on It Takes Two this evening (October 6) as she spoke about her early exit from the show.

Last weekend, the first star was eliminated from the dance show, and unfortunately for Amy and partner Thomas Skinner, their time was up. While many fans thought it was the right decision, they all wanted more for Amy Dowden.

Amy has had a tough few years after her cancer battle, and having to pull out of Strictly Come Dancing last year due to injury. Everyone was excited to see her make her return, and now she has left after just two weeks.

Amy Dowden emotional on Strictly It Takes Two

Strictly favourite Amy Dowden appeared to get teary-eyed during her and Thomas’ exit interview with It Takes Two host Janette Manrara – who was covering tonight’s episode as Fleur East was at a wedding.

As the pair appeared on the sofa, they were quizzed on all things to do with their Strictly exit, including how they both felt.

And it seems Amy was pretty upset that the pair have gone. When Janette asked the dancing pro what she will miss about working with Thomas, Amy appeared to get emotional.

She revealed: “It was his work ethic. But also the laughs in the studio. Just getting to know Tom. It was a short but sweet time.”

Amy also praised Tom for his learning abilities, reminding everyone he had never danced before.

She admitted: “I was so impressed. An absolute beginner. In terms of the entertainment world, you are not an actor or performer. I was so proud of you. And the development from the first day learning to get on the dance floor. You worked so hard, and it was so much fun.”

Viewers were left upset watching Amy get emotional on the sofa, wishing she was able to stay on the show longer.

One viewer penned: “Hopefully they will bring Amy back for the Christmas special this year. I will miss her dancing with a partner for the rest of this series. I wish she was given a better celebrity.”

Another added: “I am absolutely devastated for Amy. But don’t worry everyone, 2026 will be her year.”

“I feel so sorry for Amy Dowden,” a third fan commented.

Thomas Skinner reveals his family are ‘gutted’ he is out

During their interview, Thomas – who called Amy his “friend for life” – also opened up on how he feels about getting eliminated on the first vote off, and even gave an insight into his family’s reactions.

When Janette asked him how those at home are feeling that he has gone he joked that he hasn’t “told them yet” before giving a real answer.

He said: “They are gutted. They are. But they love Amy. They were all watching on Saturday night and last night. They are sad. But I will obviously carry on dancing.”

As for how he enjoyed his time on the dance competition, Thomas admitted: “I loved it. It was a lovely night. I know I am not one of the best but we had such a laugh.”

  • Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden struggling with illness ahead of Saturday’s live show

    [ad_1]

Strictly Come Dancing pro Amy Dowden has revealed she is unwell, days before the second live show.

Amy and celebrity partner Thomas Skinner appeared on It Takes Two tonight (October 2), where host Janette Manrara addressed Amy’s very croaky voice.

Of course, Amy left the show early last year after sustaining an injury…

Amy Dowden unwell ahead of Strictly week 2

Introducing the couple, Janette said: “It’s Tom and Amy!”

She then spoke to the former Apprentice star, asking him if he enjoyed his first live show.

Talk then turned to Amy. Janette said: “Now Amy, I know you’re a little bit under the weather, so excuse Amy today, but he made you a beautiful drink to help you out, didn’t he?”

“He did,” said a very hoarse Amy. “With tumeric, ginger, pepper.” “With everything in there, everything you need,” said Janette. “So I won’t make you talk too too much,” she said, before asking what Amy made of Thomas’ first dance.

Struggling to get her words out, she revealed that she found it “so rewarding” to see Thomas on the Strictly dance floor. “Seeing him transform, and to have the confidence that Tom had, you name it, you did such a great job,” she said as her voice broke again.

Viewers on the hashtag soon wished Amy better. However, one touched on her slightly controversial pairing with Thomas as they said: “And now poor Amy has the lurgy – girl can’t catch a break!”

    Thomas Skinner reveals weight loss

Thomas has also been concentrating on his health. He’s switched his fry ups for healthier breakfasts of fruit and yogurt, and he’s lost a stone since starting out on the show.

“I’ve noticed my trousers are getting a little bit bigger,” he said.

  • Janette Manrara halts It Takes Two for Stefan and Dianne double celebration announcement

    [ad_1]

Tonight’s It Takes Two saw Stefan Dennis and Dianne Buswell appear alongside host Janette Manrara. And the Strictly Come Dancing stars’ interview was briefly halted while the presenter offered her double congratulations to the pair.

As Strictly fans will know, Dianne is pregnant with her first baby. She’s making history as the first show pro to take part in the series while pregnant. The baby – that she’s expecting with partner Joe Sugg – is due next spring.

Stefan, meanwhile, has also had reason to celebrate this week…

Double celebration for Strictly stars Stefan and Dianne

Stefan and Dianne were the fourth Strictly 2025 couple to appear on tonight’s It Takes Two (October 1).

After a clip of their Week 1 foxtrot to the Neighbours theme tune played out, Janette declared: “Now, before we get into things, can we have a massive round of applause for you Stefan for winning Best Daytime Star for Paul Robinson at the Inside Soap Awards,” as Dianne cheered.

Then it was Dianne’s turn to have the spotlight turned on her.

“Plus,” said Janette, “of course a huge congratulations to Dianne and Joe on the wonderful baby news!” Stefan cheered as Janette added: “We all love you here at It Takes Two and it’s just amazing.”

“Thank you,” said Dianne, before Janette declared: “But let’s talk about the dancing.”

‘Tricks up their sleeve’ for Week 2

The Aussie pals then spoke about how much they enjoyed their first live show, before revealing how training for Week 2 is coming along. They’ll dance a cha cha on Saturday’s live show (October 4).

“We’ve got a couple of tricks up our sleeves,” Stefan teased, as a training room clip showed behind them on screen.

“It’s kind of like a video-clip style of dance,” said Dianne. “So we’re taking you back to an 80s video clip, and we’re going to have full 80s outfits and there might be a mullet,” she said, explaining the dance will be “entertaining, colourful and fun”.

Wrapping up the interview, Janette told Dianne and Stefan: “Good luck this weekend, I hope it goes well. One more time congratulations for all the amazing-ness that’s happening.”

“Thank you, thank you,” Dianne cooed.

Jamie Borthwick responds to claims he could win Strictly

The EastEnders favourite responded to Motsi’s comments on It Takes Two.

When probed by Janette Manrara, he insisted he isn’t going to fall for the pressure.

Janette pointed out: “On the results show, Motsi said that you are becoming the one to beat in the competition.

“How much pressure has that put on you in training?”

Jamie appears to be trying to keep his cool regarding Motsi’s high praise, insisting: “Well, I certainly don’t know about that.

“I have said from day one that I am not falling into any pressure traps. Everything can change so quickly. The competition in this show is unbelievable.

Strictly star Jamie on It Takes Two

“So, I am certainly not taking anything for granted.

“We are just trying to improve and I am trying to get better every week. For myself, of course, but also for Michelle.”

Despite brushing of the praise, Jamie definitely wowed with his Adamm’s family style American Smooth over the weekend and Michelle Tsiakkas’ choreography was even dubbed as “pure genius” by Shirley Ballas.

This week, Jamie and Strictly pro Michelle will be dancing a Samba to Faith by George Micheal.

The star has commented on just how much he loves his Latin performances, so we have high hopes for his next take to the dance floor.

Evidently, viewers feel the same, as one penned to X: “His Salsa was great and his hips are back so I’m looking forward to this. Not keen on the song for a Samba though.”

Another said: “Jamie is fab in Latins, but is there enough samba in Faith?”

A third added: “Jamie and Michelle smashed it again on Saturday.”

It Takes Two viewers issue BBC plea over Kai Widdrington after he missed out on celeb partner for Strictly 2024

Strictly: It Takes Two viewers have begged the show to keep Kai Widdrington for the Choreography Corner segment.

The Choreography Corner sees a dance expert go through each Strictly couple to discuss their performances from that past weekend.

Kai hosted the segment on Monday and Tuesday. After seeing the dancer host the segment, viewers begged the BBC to keep him in the slot permanently.

One person said on X: “Choreography Corner with Kai has a nice ring to it. Can we have @Kaiwidd do it every week please @bbcstrictly?”

Another wrote: “Excellent job by Kai on #ItTakesTwo! More please… he’d make a great presenter!”

Someone else added: “Kai really good presenting Choreography Corner. Hope he gets a regular slot.”

It comes after Kai missed out on having a celebrity partner for the 2024 series.

Speaking about the decision in September to the Daily Star, Kai said: “Everyone wants to get a celebrity. Unfortunately, it wasn’t my time this series.

“Two boys couldn’t have one this series, and sadly I am one of them. Some of us don’t get partners, and that’s the way it is. Let’s see what happens next year. Hopefully, I’ll get one then.”

The star added: “The line-up of celebs this year is amazing. It is going to be a fantastic series, as it always is. We have been filming a lot of the group routines. There are some amazing ones. We have worked really hard through the summer to get them ready for the series. One of the ones I feature in is very funny.”

Strictly’s Jamie Borthwick hits back at Craig Revel Horwood’s criticism and defends ‘connection’ with Michelle Tsiakkas on It Takes Two

    [ad_1]

Strictly star Jamie Borthwick has had his say on It Takes Two over Craig Revel Horwood’s criticism of his performance with professional partner Michelle Tsiakkas at the weekend.

The EastEnders star has defended his “chemistry” with Michelle, after the judges urged for more fluidity in his moves…

Jamie has responded to criticism (Credit: BBC)

Jamie Borthwick has his say on It Takes Two

On Saturday Craig complained that Jamie’s dance had just the “structural” parts rather than connection with his partner – which is very important in a Rumba.

Jamie has now had his say on It Takes Two. He told Janette Manrara whilst gracing the iconic purple sofa: “To be honest – biasedly, if that is even a word – I disagree with Craig.

“I think there was fantastic connection.”

Jamie then turned to grin at Michelle who chimed in: “I thought there was connection.”

I think there was fantastic connection.

The actor went on to echo: “I think there was fantastic connection,” with a pleased grin.

Michelle then praised: “He was so into it,” to which Jamie agreed “yeah”.

The dancing pro added: “It felt so good.”

Jamie repeated the sentiment, insisting: “Bar anything else, I’m pleased – obviously all the judges they all know what they are talking about and they are all fantastic.

“Particularly this week, I was happy that Shirley was happy, because she is the queen. So, I’m happy that she was happy.

“But you know what, above anything else, I just loved it.”

To which Janette agreed: “That is all that matters.”

For movie week, Jamie and Michelle will be performing a Quickstep to I’m Still Standing by Elton John. Jamie also performed a Quickstep in last years Christmas special, so it is sure to go down a treat with the judges.

It comes after a Body Language expert also agreed that Jamie and Michelle are lacking chemistry.

Body language expert Darren Stanton, speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, said: “I think Jamie tries to cover his nerves with humour and sarcasm. I don’t feel he and Michelle have a great connection either.

“There’s a bit of bravado there, but that’s part of his nature perhaps as an actor. I do fear he’s not willing to give his all to the process and that affects the relationship dynamic and body language, as well as feeling comfortable doing certain things.

“I don’t think the connection with Michelle is as strong. We aren’t seeing matching and mirroring or tactile moments,” he added of the Strictly couple.

Will the pair find their footing as a couple?

Strictly star Tom Dean has said he was left “very apologetic” after an accident with Nadiya Bychkova during rehearsals.

The pair appeared on Wednesday evening’s It Takes Two to talk with host Janette Manrara about their first live performance as well as their upcoming routine.

But Olympic swimmer Tom, 24, said they have suffered an accident in training.

Janette discussed Tom, who is 6 foot 5, having size 13 feet. She said: “Very good in the pool, maybe not so good in terms of making sure you’re not stepping on Nadiya’s toes…”

Tom replied: “Yeah… I’d be lying if I said that hasn’t happened once or twice.

“I went full in with the heel at one point by accident.”

Nadiya cut in: “On the broken toe!”

Tom added: “So all size 13 of them went down. I was very, very apologetic.”

Janette then asked Nadiya how her toe is, and the dancer replied: “These Ukrainian toes are very strong and they’re all fine. We’re making sure that’s not happening.”

Meanwhile, this weekend on Strictly Come Dancing, Tom and Nadiya will perform the Cha Cha Cha.

Tom said: “We spent about half an hour trying to learn how to walk and I just couldn’t wrap my head around it. But we’re working on it and we’re getting there.”

This week, Tom offered an update on their week two dance on Instagram.

Strictly issues statement on Adam Thomas amid illness after he was forced to miss It Takes Two appearance: ‘There are contingencies in place’

    [ad_1]

Strictly bosses have revealed that they hope Adam Thomas can still perform on tonight’s show following his recent illness. The former Emmerdale star was forced to pull out of It Takes Two last night after being taken ill.

He was expected to appear on the spin-off show last night (October 27) but was a no-show. Instead, partner and pro dancer Luba Mushtuk made a solo appearance, explaining the situation to host Fleur East.

Adam fell ill last week, and was reportedly banned from attending rehearsals, for the well-being of the Strictly crew. In spite of his feeling under the weather, he was still able to perform in last week’s show.

But will Adam be fit to perform tonight (Saturday, October 28)?

Fleur was supposed to interview Adam and Luba on last night’s It Takes Two. However, Adam’s sickness forced him to take a rain check.

“Unfortunately, Adam’s feeling a bit under the weather. But please welcome the lovely Luba!” Fleur said as she introduced Luba to the stage.

“It’s so strange to be here by myself!” Luba laughed.

“He is resting now, he just hasn’t felt very well, but he is resting and getting ready for tomorrow night so everything will be fine!” Luba said.

Will Adam Thomas perform on Strictly tonight?

Following Luba‘s It Takes Two appearance, the BBC issued a statement on Adam’s Strictly chances.

“We are hopeful Adam will be better and able to perform this weekend. There are contingencies in place should he not be able to. The health and wellbeing of the Strictly cast and crew is production’s absolute priority,” the statement read.

This fresh blow comes as bookies William Hill predicted that Adam could be eliminated from the competition this weekend. He is at 9/2 to be eliminated, behind Zara McDermott.

“It might not be third time lucky for the Love Island and Made In Chelsea star this week though, and we make her odds-on at 1/2 to depart the show on Sunday, with Adam Thomas (9/2) and Annabel Croft (11/2) next in line,” the bookies’ spokesperson said.

The latest Strictly news has seen dancer Vito Coppola make an apology to viewers after his remarks on last night’s (October 25) It Takes Two.

The 31-year-old star is partnered up with former Coronation Street actor Ellie Leach and has been taking the competition by storm. Last week, the pair performed a Paso Doble and received their highest score to date, 37. They also received their first 10 from judge Motsi Mabuse.

But while making an appearance with Ellie on It Takes Two, viewers couldn’t help but pick up on a certain remark he made.

Strictly news: Vito on ‘fingers on the feet’

During his chat on the It Takes Two sofa with Ellie, Vito referred to toes as “fingers on the feet”. The term stood out so much to a viewer, that they put on their Instagram Story: “Vito just called toes, ‘Fingers on the feet.’ That’s what I’m calling them from now on.”

With English being his second language, the Italian dancer reacted with a sense of humour. He wrote: “Sorryyy I keep doing this mistake. In Italian make sense but in English… [shy monkey face emoji]. I will learn… soon or later.”

Vito and Ellie receive a special message

This weekend (October 28), Vito and Ellie will take on Halloween week by performing a Salsa to Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s iconic hit Murder On The Dancefloor.

Sophie previously participated in Strictly with Brendan Cole in 2013 and came fourth.

As a surprise, the British singer shared a video message to Vito and Ellie, wishing them the best. Sophie explained that Murder On The Dancefloor is a special song to her and believes it will bring them a lot of luck this weekend.

Fangirling over the situation, Ellie admitted that she is a huge fan of Sophie’s signature hit. Vito said it gave him goosebumps.
