  • Kate Middleton Just Gave This Controversial Runway Trend Her Stamp of Approval

Kate Middleton Just Gave This Controversial Runway Trend Her Stamp of Approval

    [ad_1]

If, even after spotting peplum silhouettes in nearly every fall/winter 2023 collection throughout fashion month, you’re still not convinced that they’re worth giving a second chance to, the news I’m about to share with you is bound to put you over the edge. After all, I’ve yet to come across a fashion item worn by Kate Middleton that didn’t go absolutely viral, and no matter how controversial peplum is, the hatred around it doesn’t come close to balancing out the influential abilities of the Princess of Wales.

If you haven’t already guessed, Middleton was spotted earlier today wearing a peplum Erdem blazer with a matching printed midi skirt at the 2023 Commonwealth Day Service held at Westminster Abbey in London, giving the once “out” trend a supersized push toward the “in” pile. With the two-piece navy-and-blue set, she wore matching Gianvito Rossi pumps, an Emmy London clutch, and a pair of double-drop diamond-and-sapphire earrings that were once owned by Princess Diana.

Though her entire look was chic and glamorous—like most she’s worn—I can’t help but continue to go back to her peplum top and, more so, what it means for the trend’s fate that she chose it for the occasion. Below, check out Middleton’s take on the peplum look vs. the ways it was styled on the runway this season. My guess? With her royal stamp of approval, peplum’s comeback is going to be bigger and better than anyone could’ve predicted.

The 2023 Oscars After-Party Outfits That Rival the Red Carpet

    [ad_1]

This Sunday marked the 95th edition of the Oscars. The event took place in Los Angeles, and the red carpet was everything you may have expected it to be—jaw-dropping. Celebrities like Cara Delevingne and Florence Pugh have already blessed us with their attendance as A-list nominees and award presenters. Many people think the show ends with the Oscars, but outfits worn to the Vanity Fair after-party always rival the red carpet.

If you’re a fashion person who likes daring trends, the after-party is for you. Celebrities are known for wearing riskier looks that are sure to blow up on social media just a few hours after. Below, find the best red carpet outfits from every single Oscars after-party.

Nicole Kidman and Halle Berry Both Wore Risqué Thigh-High Slits at the Oscars

    [ad_1]

What do Nicole Kidman and Halle Berry have in common? They both just wore a thigh-high slit on the Oscars red carpet. Coincidence? We think not.

Risqué thigh-high slits have been a trend this year on both the runway and the people. Fashion brands such as Alexander McQueen and ACNE Studios exemplified in their recent collections that they are backing this trend. Seeing it on a red carpet as elegant as that of the Oscars truly cemented it into our minds. If you’re bored of switching between micro minis and denim maxis, try a leg slit for change.

  • 11 ’90s Outfits That Prove Carla Bruni Was the Era’s Chicest Dresser

11 ’90s Outfits That Prove Carla Bruni Was the Era’s Chicest Dresser

    [ad_1]

Oftentimes when we talk about ’90s supermodels and specifically their off-duty style, a few names get mentioned more than others. While the likes of Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, and Linda Evangelista certainly deserve all the praise they get, there’s a severe lack of credit being paid toward one of the most iconic faces in ’90s fashion: Carla Bruni

Though Bruni began her modeling career in the late ’80s at just 19 years old, the bulk of her time spent on the top runways and in the biggest campaigns in fashion arrived in the ’90s. At the peak of her fame, she modeled for Saint Laurent, John Galliano, Chanel, Dior, and, of course, Versace. (We all know about that iconic blue Versace dress she wore that served as the inspiration for a recent Margot Robbie red carpet look.) Her runway prowess should never be minimized, but it would be wrong to ignore the undeniable chicness of the model’s off-duty style. She is a French and Italian fashion person after all.

Below, see 11 of Bruni’s most enviable off-duty looks from her ’90s modeling days.

  • Anna Wintour Only Packed One Shoe Trend for All of Fashion Month

Anna Wintour Only Packed One Shoe Trend for All of Fashion Month

    [ad_1]

Fashion devotees know that the Anna Wintour seal of approval isn’t easy to come by, so when the EIC of Vogue steps out in multiple iterations of a similar style, we take note. Case in point, Wintour’s go-to shoe for all of fashion month: knee-high crocodile-embossed heeled leather boots, which she wore in New York, Paris, London, and Milan.

Of course, one doesn’t amass a slew of signature footwear overnight. This is a tried and true trend for Wintour, who has sported these types of boots (routinely paired with long floral dresses and statement overcoats) for decades. While of course, she has an array of hues at her disposal, we particularly love the two pairs of rich burgundy and reptile-inspired patterns pictured below.

Right now, at the end of the winter season, is a great time to buy boots—ideally on sale—for the year ahead. Keep scrolling for some authentic, AW-approved outfit inspiration, plus our favorite knee-high leather croc-embossed boots to shop now.

I Can’t Stop Thinking About Kourtney Kardashian’s New Bottle-Blonde Hair

    [ad_1]

Kardashian Barker has had a blunt bob for a while now, but the platinum variation is brand-new. She went to Cassondra Kaeding, a colorist in Los Angeles, for her new bottle-blonde tresses. The color looks so good on her that I’m hoping it sticks around for a while.

On Instagram, Kardashian Barker shared snaps of her new hair along with a quote from Hunter S. Thompson from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: “Every now and then when your life gets complicated and the weasels start closing in, the only cure is to load up on heinous chemicals and then drive like a bastard from Hollywood to Las Vegas … with the music at top volume and at least a pint of ether.” Honestly, this only proves that she is just like me, FR.

  • Zendaya Wore a Bra and Zebra Short Shorts to the Louis Vuitton Show in Paris

Zendaya Wore a Bra and Zebra Short Shorts to the Louis Vuitton Show in Paris

    [ad_1]

Louis Vuitton‘s guest list always reads as a who’s who in fashion. This season, the stars came out in full force, including Zendaya, Emma Stone, Ana de Armas, Sarah Paulson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Catherine Deneuve, Jaden Smith, Venus Williams, Alicia Vikander, and more. Phew! That’s a seriously impressive front row.

As she tends to do, Zendaya stole the show in a zebra-print ensemble that I’m simply obsessed with. With nothing but an itty-bitty bra underneath, her outfit is an incredibly chic interpretation of the underwear-as-outerwear trend that’s sweeping Hollywood right now. Scroll down to see her full outfit that’s bound to go viral any second now. Plus, see what all the other stylish guests wore to the show.

Most recently, Chang evolved beyond beauty, sharing her highly personal adoption story, which went viral and amassed over 11 million views. Industry leaders have recognized Chang’s influence in the beauty industry, and she has been featured in various publications, including Forbes and Harper’s Bazaar. • Gigi Hadid Wore Spring’s Biggest Flats Trend With the Pantsless Outfit Trend

Gigi Hadid Wore Spring’s Biggest Flats Trend With the Pantsless Outfit Trend

    [ad_1]

Gigi Hadid had a very busy week promoting her first season as a host on the Netfix series Next in Fashion. Between that and a few appearances at Milan Fashion Week, Hadid has worn a lot of amazing outfits lately, but there’s one that really stood out to me, as it consisted of two season-defining trends—one controversial and one very much less so.

The look I’m referring to is an all-white Malaikaraiss Berlin outfit. Instead of pants, the oversized blazer is paired with white tights. (I don’t know about you but I’m loving the colored tights renaissance.) And to make the outfit even more 2023, Hadid wore what is arguably the biggest flat shoe trend of the season: Mary Janes. In keeping with the monochromatic theme, she opted for a cream-colored pair by Aeyde. I just love it when celebrities wear comfortable shoe trends.

  • I’m Entering My Alexa Chung Era—28 Picks TikTok Convinced Me to Buy

I’m Entering My Alexa Chung Era—28 Picks TikTok Convinced Me to Buy

    [ad_1]

According to the app, the “Alexa Chung uniform” consists of curtain bangs, sherpa-lined aviator jackets, smudged red lipstick, straight-leg denim, and perhaps a cigarette or two. We all know someone who embodies the style without even trying. Maybe she’s someone who’s a cool creative living in a SoHo loft. Or perhaps she runs an art studio/feminist podcast. She probably reads cool books and goes out late and has a closet full of vintage any collector would drool over. And naturally, you want to be her best friend.

Chung’s style resurgence with today’s Gen Z crowd has more than a few heads spinning, including my own. Even though I’m more than down for the cause, bringing back 10-year-old silhouettes and styles wasn’t at the top of my to-do list when it came to my spring wardrobe. Peter Pan collars and Mary Janes were barely out of the trend cycle when they dipped back up again last fall.

Perhaps Gen Z is nostalgic for an era where personal style reigned supreme, the world wasn’t on fire, and a carton of eggs didn’t cost $12. It’s more comfortable to revisit your style hero’s old aesthetic than think about the state of the world in all its doom. Just as zany dressing and ironic handbags surge among the Gen Z fashion crowd, so are pieces that remind us of when the times were good and the days were long. Who can say no to that?

Selena Gomez’s Cute Minidress Is Shockingly Still in Stock at Nordstrom

    [ad_1]

Selena Gomez knows exactly what the people want: more episodes of Only Murders in the Building. And that’s what she’s serving up. Photographed in between takes on the show’s New York City set, Gomez bundled up in a pink puffer coat and boots. Only a glimpse of her red minidress underneath was all it took for me to become instantly obsessed. Lo and behold, I found it online at Nordstrom and it’s shockingly still in stock.

Gomez’s Farm Rio Shiny Flowers Long Sleeve Minidress ($295) is a winner all around. I love the tiered skirt, fun print, and beautiful color. In case you aren’t familiar, Farm Rio is a Brazilian brand known for its joyful prints—and Selena’s dress is no exception. Scroll down to shop the dress before it inevitably sells out.

Riley Keough, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Hailey Bieber All Use This One Face Oil

    [ad_1]

Here it is—the MARA Algae + Moringa Universal Hydrating Face Oil. It includes wild-collected algae, moringa, and watermelon. The first plumps the skin and softens the look of fine lines and wrinkles. The second contains nutrients and antioxidants to moisturize the skin and do away with dullness. Finally, the third hydrates the skin and provides fatty acids and vitamins.

The brand says you can use it on its own, or layer it on top of serums and creams to lock moisture in. You can even mix it with makeup for a dewy finish and use it as a natural light-reflecting highlighter on the tops of the cheekbones (we love a multi-tasking beauty product).

  • Kate Middleton Wore the Pretty Skirt Trend That’s Ideal If You Hate Miniskirts

Kate Middleton Wore the Pretty Skirt Trend That’s Ideal If You Hate Miniskirts

    [ad_1]

For the past several seasons, miniskirts have ruled the skirt kingdom. And then last fall, maxi skirts started to fight for attention and a place in our closets. Now, there’s a new skirt trend vying for our love, but like most skirt trends, it isn’t new at all.

The trend is full midi skirts, and I’m actually a bit surprised by it. It’s pretty much the opposite of Y2K inspired, unlike seemingly every trend these days, so it’s quite refreshing. It’s also very appropriate for Kate Middleton’s classic wardrobe (which is unlikely to contain any low-rise miniskirts). Earlier this week, Middleton opted to wear a full midi skirt from Zara, which is now sold out, unfortunately. She paired the tweed black-and-white skirt with a cream turtleneck and coat and black knee boots. It’s the perfect way to style a swingy skirt during late winter, and once the weather warms up, you can take the same skirt. Just swap the turtleneck for a tank top and the boots for sandals.

  • Suki Waterhouse Just Mastered the Pantsless Trend In a Pair Of Denim Underwear

Suki Waterhouse Just Mastered the Pantsless Trend In a Pair Of Denim Underwear

    [ad_1]

If anyone can pull off the tights-as-pants look that’s been popping up everywhere in 2023, it’s Suki Waterhouse—and she knows it. I presume that’s why she decided to make the trend even more risqué than going pantsless naturally is by trading in the minimal briefs that’ve gone hand in hand with the trend ever since it first went viral following Bottega Veneta’s spring/summer ’23 runway show last September for a denim version. Might I add that she donned the micro jorts to do press on the top of the Empire State Building (casual).

The New York City occasion was all about Waterhouse’s new Prime Video show Daisy Jones & The Six, which she stars in alongside Riley Keough, Camila Morrone, and Sam Claflin. Waterhouse plays keyboardist Karen Sirko in the series, so naturally, she had to look the part of a musician in the ’70s but with a modern touch. As such, she chose the first look from Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini’s fall/winter 2022 collection—a cropped blazer, exposed bra, silk blouse, and denim hot shorts—adding ripped tights, Gucci pumps, and an oversize furry jacket for effect.

Though the denim underwear in her look isn’t for the faint of heart, the overall ensemble is easier to achieve than it might initially appear. Below, shop our favorite denim short shorts of the season and check off the first step in recreating Waterhouse’s hyper cool take on the no-pants trend.

10 Red-Carpet Looks From the NAACP Image Awards That Won’t Soon Be Forgotten

    [ad_1]

On Saturday, some of the today’s most prolific names in music, film, television, and sport met up in Pasadena, California to celebrate the 54th NAACP Image Awards. And naturally, they didn’t show up in just anything. Dressed by the most sought-after stylists and brands in the business, from Law Roach to Jason Bolden and Prada to Versace, the attendees at the 2023 NAACP Awards knew exactly what they were doing when they stepped onto the event’s golden carpet. That is, embedding their outfits in our minds forever.

Between Zendaya wearing not just vintage Versace from the Italian brand’s spring/summer 2002 couture collection but also a custom-made Prada set that was inspired by one from spring/summer 1993, Tracee Ellis Ross donning a dress snatched right off of Brandon Maxwell’s NYFW runway, and Gabrielle Union showing up in Gianni Versace’s Circus gown from his 1989 couture collection, it’s clear that no fashion stone was left unturned by the end of this particular award show. • Lady Amelia Windsor Is Royally Refreshing

Lady Amelia Windsor Is Royally Refreshing

    [ad_1]

What she does know, however, is that the next big plan involves getting her hands dirty. “What I’m reading about at the moment is gardening. I absolutely love it. I don’t do it enough myself—I have done some volunteer gardening, but I’m a fraud of a gardener because I don’t do it enough. I just love reading about it and try to do it as much as I can,” she says.

Slightly surprised by her admission, I wonder, why gardening? “It makes you so happy. It’s so good for you,” Windsor says. “You are outside all the time. The soil gives you amazing bacteria, gives you serotonin. It’s a way to meet different people if you do volunteer gardening. I’ve met some of the nicest people, and if it’s done sustainably, it can be a great thing for the planet. So it’s a win-win situation.” In fact, it turns out that this grounding hobby is a metaphor for her own life. “It’s just so therapeutic and peaceful, and it’s also just a way of accepting that you just go with the seasons. If something doesn’t work in your garden, it’s like, ‘It’s all right. I’ll try again next time.’ And realizing it’s just a part of nature that things might not grow or something might eat them, you just go with it and just carry on. It teaches you to go with the flow,” she says.

I look out of my window at my dying plants, and I turn to Windsor as my new gardening guru—my millennial Alan Titchmarsh, if you will—and ask her if talking to the plants might resurrect them. “I actually do it with my houseplants a little bit,” she admits, letting me know they are called Geraldine and Esmerelda.

As our chat wraps up, our previous plan of a night out turns to Windsor volunteering to come over to help me with my plants. Always expect the unexpected from this lady.

  • Kate Middleton’s Latest Bag Shows Where She Stands on If Mini Bags Are “Over”

Kate Middleton’s Latest Bag Shows Where She Stands on If Mini Bags Are “Over”

    [ad_1]

Kate Middleton is the ultimate celebrity to look to if your style is classic. Her wardrobe epitomizes a polished, timeless aesthetic, and her chosen accessories only emphasize that. If you look through her outfits, you’ll find that more often than not, she’s carrying a tiny bag with them. In fact, this week, she paired a monochromatic navy outfit and camel coat with a top-handle mini bag that perfectly complemented her look.

So why is this significant now? Well, the general consensus in the fashion world is that the mini-bag trend is being replaced by the oversize-bag trend. (Katie Holmes and Zendaya are on board.) Mini bags have certainly been around for a minute, but I think it’s safe to say that they’re not disappearing anytime soon—especially ones that are big enough to fit your phone.

If you too are still on team mini bag, keep scrolling to shop some of the chicest, most timeless ones on the market. Kate Middleton would surely approve.
