  • Jennifer Lopez Wore the Pretty Flat Shoe Trend People Can’t Stop Talking About

Jennifer Lopez Wore the Pretty Flat Shoe Trend People Can’t Stop Talking About

    [ad_1]

Jennifer Lopez doesn’t wear flats (aside from sneakers) very often, so when she does cosign a flat shoe trend, you know it must be important. The trend I’m referring to is sheer ballet flats, which are typically constructed from mesh. Naturally, we’ve already covered the sheer flats trend here at Who What Wear (we’re fans of it). The problem is that they keep selling out because people (like me) keep talking about it. But back to J.Lo.

While out in L.A. this week, Lopez wore sheer black Christian Louboutin flats, which are now sold out, sadly. She paired them with cropped wide-leg jeans and a black turtleneck. While it was more of a fall outfit, J.Lo does what she wants. The flats added a trendy element to her otherwise low-key outfit, and we predict plenty of people will search for a pair of mesh flats in their size after seeing it. Scroll to do just that.

  • Kate Middleton Wore the Chic Jacket Style That’s Worth Ditching Big Blazers For

Kate Middleton Wore the Chic Jacket Style That’s Worth Ditching Big Blazers For

    [ad_1]

There was a time not too long ago when nearly every single outfit I wore included an oversize blazer. But over the last few years, I’ve begun to look for other alternatives that don’t feel so safe and expected. And the only real contender I’ve found along the way just got Kate Middleton‘s royal stamp of approval. (Talk about validation.)

At a celebration for the reopening of the National Portrait Gallery in London this week, the Princess of Wales wore a black-and-white ensemble by Self-Portrait (which is still available in limited sizes at Matches) with Aquazzura pumps and a Chanel clutch. At first glance, her dress appears more like a jacket and skirt, with the top half being the outerwear style I’ve slowly but surely been replacing my endless big-blazer collection with: the lady jacket.

Unlike a typical blazer, lady jackets are cropped and fitted, making them appear chicer and more formal. Many are made out of tweed or bouclé, though J.Crew’s become famous for designing them with Italian wool and cotton, thus offering up a more casual alternative. While Middleton’s take looks more like a suit, my favorite styling method is to pair one with loose denim, ballet flats or kitten-heel pumps, and a simple tee or tank. But really, you can’t go wrong either way. See her look for the reopening and shop the trend below.

  • The Miniskirt Outfit Selena Gomez Wore in Paris Is Peak French-Girl Chic

The Miniskirt Outfit Selena Gomez Wore in Paris Is Peak French-Girl Chic

    [ad_1]

Selena Gomez was all business last week when she touched down in Paris for an exclusive Rare Beauty event she hosted with Sephora. Clad in a black-and-white look from Chanel’s 2023 Resort collection, Gomez paid homage to the iconic striped Sephora bag and totally nailed the French-Girl chic formula

While Gomez’s outfit is from Chanel, it’s a look that’s easy to re-create by mixing and matching items that are likely already inside your closet. Pair a sleek white button-down shirt with a waist-defining A-line skirt, for example. Naturally, the quality of the shirt is vital—silk is ideal, but a sharply pressed Oxford works just as well. However, it’s the A-line miniskirt that really adds a certain je ne c’est quoi to the look. It can easily be dressed up or down and appears equally appropriate for a business meeting or celebratory event. Opt for heels, as seen below, or pair the skirt with loafers for a more academic flare. There are unlimited possibilities, and it’s impossible to go wrong.

With that in mind, we’ve selected 14 of the best A-line miniskirts to help anyone nail this French look

Jennifer Lawrence Just Wore a Bra-Exposing Sheer Gown on the Red Carpet

    [ad_1]

Jennifer Lawrence is always one to watch, but she’s demanded extra attention lately because of her new collaboration with stylist Jamie Mizrahi. The actress stepped out at the London premiere of her latest film in a stunning sheer gown with appliqué from Dior’s Fall 2023 collection. She paired the dress with A+ accessories, including opera-length leather gloves, classic Manolo Blahnik heels, and dazzling jewelry.

While we weren’t surprised to see Lawrence wearing the designer label (she’s been a brand partner since 2012), we didn’t expect this relatively demure take on the sheer trend. Instead of opting for a look that’s almost 90% nude, Lawrence revealed only her strapless black bra, allowing the gown to be elegant and alluring all at once.

We definitely plan to steal Lawrence’s tricks for styling this sheer dress (although we’re always inspired by her looks). And, even though we’re not on Dior’s VIP list, we can definitely get our hands on an excellent black strapless bra. Keep scrolling for 12 styles worth showing off under a sheer top or dress—it’s up to you to secure the opera gloves.

  • Dua Lipa and Sofia Richie Love This Unexpected Nail Color for Summer

Dua Lipa and Sofia Richie Love This Unexpected Nail Color for Summer

    [ad_1]

When we think of the best summer nail colors, we think of bright shades of pink, coral, red, blue, and yellow, among others. This year, however, we’re toning things down, opting for something soft and serene, and it’s all thanks to celebrities like Dua Lipa, Sofia Richie, and Sabrina Carpenter. These Gen Z It girls are all wearing the same nail color, which can only mean one thing: It’s officially one of the summer’s biggest nail colors.

Let us introduce you to a pale creamy blue coined blueberry milk. It’s a take on the wildly popular milk bath nails that exploded on TikTok earlier this year after being approved by Blake Lively, Jennifer Lopez, and Sydney Sweeney. Milk bath nails use soft colors to create a blurred or “milky” effect. Gone are the days of vivid brights—soft shades are here to stay. Jennifer Lawrence Just Took the Mermaidcore Trend to Wildly Chic New Heights

    [ad_1]

Jennifer Lawrence has been on an epic press tour for her new film No Hard Feelings, and the looks she and stylist Jamie Mizrahi have put together for it are nothing short of a fashion girl’s dream. One, in particular, stood out to me for its sophisticated mermaidcore vibes. Allow me to explain.

When envisioning mermaidcore, think of shimmery sequin-laden pastels, seashell motifs, iridescent oyster hues, and fish scales—essentially anything Ariel would wear. When I think of Lawrence, I don’t really associate her with the Y2K-adjacent mermaidcore aesthetic, but while in New York City this week, she wore a mermaidcore piece with a sophisticated twist.

The look, which came straight from the Armani Privé archives (fall 2019 couture collection, to be exact), consisted of a sheer pink iridescent jumpsuit paired with a fitted black blazer. And I don’t know about you, but it’s making me want to go out and buy some iridescent things. Scroll on to do just that.

  • The Stylist Behind Sofia Richie’s Timeless Style Shares Her Fashion Secrets

The Stylist Behind Sofia Richie’s Timeless Style Shares Her Fashion Secrets

    [ad_1]

Liat Baruch is a fashion force to be reckoned with. While Baruch has 15 years of experience in the fashion industry, her work with the Richie family is perhaps her biggest claim to fame. There’s no denying that Sofia Richie’s effortlessly sophisticated style has been at the top of every fashion enthusiast’s mind, and we have Baruch to thank for that.

With her keen eye for detail, Baruch can transform ordinary looks into extraordinary statements. Her distinctive—and incredibly strategic—approach to styling involves blending eclectic elements, mixing textures, and experimenting with unexpected combinations to create that sense of effortless sophistication that also pushes the boundaries of traditional fashion norms. Her unique vision and impeccable taste have earned her a loyal following and have made her a sought-after collaborator for high-profile clients and fashion publications.

Baruch’s influence as a stylist continues to evolve and transform the industry, inspiring others and redefining personal style. In the latest episode of Who What Wear With Hillary Kerr, Baruch reveals her ultimate fashion dos and don’ts, her perspective on where the fashion industry is headed, and the style details behind Richie’s wedding looks.

For excerpts from that conversation, scroll below.

For an event like Sofia Richie’s wedding, where it’s taking place over multiple days and is a big moment because it’s a wedding, how long does the styling process take? I’m curious about the timeline of a process when it’s something huge like that.

Liat Baruch: First of all, she’s an ongoing client. And actually, her sister has been my best friend for 25 years, so Sofia’s my sister. I’ve been working with her on this level for the past couple of years. It’s been a constant thing. For the wedding, it wasn’t like [I said], “Here are the ten looks,” and then I presented to [her looks] for the ten days leading up to the wedding and the five days after. It was more like we would do general shops [leading] up to the wedding. And from there, we extract the best pieces and accessorize them so they look perfectly refined [and] the way we want them to. It wasn’t like I had 17 mood boards with every look and all that stuff—it was very organic. That’s why it is so funny when people are blown away by it because it is what I do, and it’s what she does.

I love hearing more about the process. What does day one of working with someone look like? And how do you get on the same page or know they’re the right client for you?

Until now, it was hard because the whole point of me is that I don’t exist. It’s like you, Hillary, are calling me, and you’re like, “I have a board meeting; what am I wearing?” You’re not going to walk into the board meeting and say, “Liat styles me.” It’s your style; I just helped you get there. So, first, I meet them, and we usually go for a coffee to talk through what they’re looking for and what they need. Usually, they need help with their closet and feel they don’t have the right leather jacket or the right blazer. I typically like to start with an event, whether they have a bar mitzvah to go to for the week, they’re going to Hawaii, or they have an event of some sort, or just day-to-day looks and do not want to look the same every day.

Because of word of mouth, most clients know [ahead of time] that our aesthetics align. That’s not to say that I can’t work with anyone who doesn’t share my aesthetic. It’s just that there are millions of people who do certain things really well. But if somebody liked how Sofia looked at the wedding, now they can see it and think they want something similar—and I can do that; that’s what I do.

This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity. Next up, check out our previous episode featuring Charlotte Palermino.

  • Taylor Swift Wore This Timeless Shirt Style on a Dinner Date With Gigi Hadid

Taylor Swift Wore This Timeless Shirt Style on a Dinner Date With Gigi Hadid

    [ad_1]

The very stylish and famous duo of Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid just went to dinner together at Nobu in New York City, and naturally, I’m here to talk about what they wore. Specifically, I’m here to talk about Swift’s top, which would make a smart purchase.

Where Hadid and Swift go, cameras go, and they seemed to have dressed with that in mind, opting for chic and simple outfits. Hadid wore a white cropped T-shirt, a black slip skirt, white socks, and derby shoes. Swift went with a slightly dressier look, opting for loose black trousers, cut-out heels, a bag from her go-to brand Mansur Gavriel, and a classic black halter top I’d highly recommend adding to your wardrobe.

As far as night-out tops go, few are more appropriate or flattering than a black halter top. But the best part is you don’t have to worry about it going out of style. Swift’s high-neck halter top is from The Row (as are her pants) and is priced at over $1000. But don’t worry. I found a few similar black halter tops that I think you’ll approve of. Shop them below.

  • Hailey Bieber Wore This Major Sandal Trend in the Most Controversial of Ways

Hailey Bieber Wore This Major Sandal Trend in the Most Controversial of Ways

    [ad_1]

Hailey Bieber’s always-evolving style is fun to watch, isn’t it? The night before she wore the outfit we’re about to discuss, she was in a short, pink sparkly party dress and naked shoes. It was the polar opposite from what she stepped out in yesterday in NYC, but just as interesting, in its own way.

The outfit I’m here to talk about today was casual and cool, but not without mild controversy. Bieber wore a white cropped T-shirt with low-rise, long white baggy shorts (which are also a bit polarizing…), but it was her footwear “styling” you’ll either love or hate. So, the sandal trend she wore was fisherman sandals, which have been the reigning “ugly” sandal style for the past year or so, and she opted to wear them with white ankle socks. It used to be the case that wearing socks with sandals was a major faux pas, but wearing socks with any shoe style has become the norm these days. So whether you agree with it or not, wearing socks with sandals is technically cool now.

If Bieber has inspired you to order a pair of fisherman sandals, I’ve shopped out some of my favorites below (which you can choose to wear with or without socks).

  • Jennifer Lawrence Wore the Controversial Dress Trend That’s Staging a Comeback

Jennifer Lawrence Wore the Controversial Dress Trend That’s Staging a Comeback

    [ad_1]

There are a lot of trends that, no matter how outdated they become, will always come back—period. Others, however, are met with a bit more surprise when the rumor mill begins to hint at a possible return to fame. Think low-rise jeans—and subsequently, whale tails—open-toe boots, hot pants, and lace camisoles. When they went away, we all sighed with relief, so to see them rise up once again took some getting used to.

The same goes for dresses worn layered over pants, a trend that dominated in the 2000s, worn at A-list parties and red-carpet events. And though we spent the years following its fall from fashion’s top spot expressing our distain for the styling method, promising ourselves that we’d never again combine dresses and pants into one single look, it appears that a fate similar to low-rise jeans and camis is on the horizon for the once-dated pairing. After seeing Jennifer Lawrence debut the trend in London this week, I for one can’t think of a reason why it got so much hate.

Following plenty of runway appearances throughout the fall/winter 2023 season at shows like Fendi, Balmain, and Giorgio Armani, Lawrence stepped out during her press tour for No Hard Feelings wearing an all-gray version of the dresses-over-pants look from The Row. With her drapey, knee-length frock and matching wide-leg trousers, the actress added strappy sandals and a clutch bag from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s quiet-luxury label, as well as an Elsa Peretti pendant necklace and sunglasses from Khaite’s collaboration with Oliver Peoples. See Lawrence’s dress-with-pants look below and decide for yourself how prepared you are for the trend’s impending comeback.

Katie Holmes Just Wore the Popular Shirt Trend I Found for $59 at Nordstrom

    [ad_1]

These days, if you want to know what’s trendy and classic, you’d be wise to look no further than Katie Holmes. Her outfits are typically wearable and easy to re-create. While her aesthetic leans classic, she clearly likes to have fun with fashion and the latest trends. That said, you’ll want to see the trendy outfit she wore to a Pride Month event in New York City this week.

The fun thing about this look is that it was actually quite casual, which we love to see. Holmes wore a pair of wide-leg jeans with ballet flats, a bodysuit, and the micro-shirt trend that fashion people love (and that you can probably credit Miu Miu for starting). The trend is the cropped button-down shirt, and Holmes opted to button just the top few buttons. Although kind of under the radar, the cropped button-down trend has really infiltrated the mainstream market. In fact, I found the perfect take on the trend via Nordstrom’s in-house brand Open Edit, and it rings in at just $59. Keep scrolling to shop that and a few other cropped button-downs I think you’ll love.

The $28 Nordstrom Top I’m Buying to Recreate Zendaya’s Italian Vacation Look

    [ad_1]

At this point, Zendaya’s learned a thing or two about packing for chic destinations. According to the Euphoria actress’s Instagram alone, the first half of 2023 has already seen her touch down in Paris, Mumbai, and Venice, all three of which served as backdrops for impeccable outfits (thanks, Law Roach!). And while her latest OOO ensemble doesn’t include a Bulgari Serpenti necklace or custom, vintage-inspired Prada, it still more than proves my point that she’s an expert in getting dressed in places that are far from home.

While out to dinner with friends in Rome, where she spent the earlier part of the week celebrating the opening of the Bulgari Hotel in the Italian capital (in a crystal-mesh tank top no less), Zendaya was spotted wearing a ’90s-inspired tube top from the Australian brand Venroy with super low-rise, belted trousers, loafers, and a Louis Vuitton tote bag from the brand’s recent collaboration with artist Yayoi Kusama. Simple, travel-friendly, and chic in every city, her look managed to check off every last one of our vacation-wardrobe requirements—and then some.

Sadly, the black version of her Venroy top is no longer available, though luck’s still on our side as plenty of similar alts are just waiting to be snatched up and used to recreate this ‘fit. Below, check out the $28 Topshop top that I’m planning on snagging for that exact reason and more tube tops to shop this summer.

Photographed arriving at the CBS studios in New York City, Elizabeth Olsen wore the flat shoe trend that will never go out of style: black loafers. Margot Robbie Just Wore the Comeback Heel Trend That Could Replace Platforms

    [ad_1]

Margot Robbie has some of the best red-carpet style in Hollywood, so we always pay attention to what she wears. She wore a chic black-and-white Schiaparelli Haute Couture look to the New York premiere of her upcoming film Asteroid City. She paired the peplum corset and pleated miniskirt with a shoe trend that’s far removed from the towering platforms that have recently been the norm on the red carpet. I’m talking about pumps, the original heel style.

But aren’t pumps a classic shoe style? Why am I calling them a trend? Good question. The truth is, we’ve been taking pumps for granted as flashier styles like platforms, wedges, and sculptural heels have been at the forefront. But the F/W 23 runways of Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, Loewe, and more indicate pumps are still cool and in style, regardless of their classic status. Accordingly, we’ve seen more and more celebrities wearing them this year. Pumps have been a go-to shoe for Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle for years.

On the red carpet, Robbie opted for a simple pair of black suede pumps. Scroll to see her sophisticated look for the premiere and shop some of the best pumps on the market.

  • According to Elsa Hosk, These 7 Staples Are the Secret to Model-Off-Duty Style

According to Elsa Hosk, These 7 Staples Are the Secret to Model-Off-Duty Style

    [ad_1]

When you’re not working, what’s your go-to outfit for running errands or grabbing coffee with friends?

My staples from the new drop that just released from Helsa are the 100% organic linen shirts, shorts, and coats. They have that same relaxed vibe but are dressy enough to wear to lunch, meetings, and coffee runs where you know you might run into people, so you want to be super comfortable but look put-together. I’m very particular about fit. I don’t just make these pieces to take an Instagram picture in. I want them to live in my wardrobe forever and be constant pieces to go back to over and over again. So the fit has to be immaculate, flattering, and sharp.

How do you balance comfort and style in your off-duty looks?

I never want to feel uncomfortable in clothes, and I don’t think you should ever compromise style and comfort. The two should go together seamlessly. To me, there’s nothing sexier than a woman in men’s clothes, so a lot of the pants and shirts from Helsa look like you borrowed a men’s shirt that just so happens to fit perfectly. I’d wear slouchy trousers with a belt and a jersey baby tee or an oversize blazer with black split leggings. Balancing the silhouette while still achieving comfort is the goal.

How do you switch up your style when traveling to different cities or countries?

I find myself wearing more color on vacation or matching the colors of the place I’m going more with my wardrobe. We made a sheer, long ruffle-hem dress in the most beautiful shade of orange for the summer drop that I’m so excited to wear surrounded by sunsets, orange trees, and flowers on holiday this summer.

What are some unexpected styling tips or tricks that you’ve picked up from working with different designers and stylists throughout your career?

I feel like, as a model, I’ve tried on more clothes than the majority of the world’s population, so you get an instinct for what fit works best, how fabric moves, what gets dated quickly, and what stays classic. I’ve always been curious about everyone’s job on set, learning as much as I can from designers and stylists—fit, fabric, the mixing of the two, creating contrast. But putting an outfit together has always just been instinct to me. Since a young age, I’ve had a very clear idea of how I want to dress, how I want to feel in an outfit, how I put it together. It’s my armor. It tells the world who I am. It’s always been important to me. It’s harder to explain because it comes very naturally to me, so I think what’s been the most valuable and something I’ve needed to learn the most from designers and clients running brands is the business side of making clothes, how to run a company, and merchandising.

How do you define your model uniform?

I don’t think this goes just for models but for anyone. I don’t think there’s a model look anymore, or at least, I don’t find it interesting. Our agents used to tell us we had to wear high heels, black skinny jeans, and a tank top for castings, and it was always my least favorite way to dress. Look like everyone else? How boring! I’d always break the rules. I think the coolest models have the most amazing style. They just wear what flatters their bodies and look [like] themselves. I think it’s a new world where clients are drawn to personal style and personality and rather book a girl because of what they have to say and their personal style than that they have a pretty face or “perfect body,” and that change is finally starting to happen—just embracing who you are and what you stand for.

From chic essentials to unexpected statement pieces, Hosk has mastered the art of assembling outfits that effortlessly capture the essence of model-off-duty coolness. If you want to borrow her cool Scandi-girl style, shop the seven pieces she recommends buying.
