Ishaan Khatter wants ‘bhabhi’ Mira Rajput to join his and Shahid Kapoor’s bike-riding gang; Here’s why

    [ad_1]

If you haven’t already guessed, Bollywood actor Ishaan Khatter loves riding his bikes as much as he loves acting. Sometimes on his road trips, his brother, actor Shahid Kapoor also accompanies him. In a recent interview when the actor was asked whom would he like to add to his bike-riding gang, he chose his sister-in-law Mira Kapoor. Read on to know why he said so.

Ishaan Khatter wants Mira Rajput to join his and Shahid Kapoor’s bike-riding gang

If you look at Ishaan Khatter’s social media feed, you will find not one, but many visuals of him flaunting his bike, posing with it or even riding one. Sometimes, his brother Shahid Kapoor and friend Kunal Kemmu are also seen making a special appearance in them. The trio often venture out to unknown destinations on their superbikes and enjoy their passion. In an interview with Instant Bollywood, the Pippa actor said he wants bhabhi Mira Kapoor to join them.

During the candid chat with the publication, Ishaan was quick to take Mira’s name when asked who would he add to his bike-riding gang. “I mean why should boys have all the fun? I would add Mira, she doesn’t ride but maybe in a sidecar with bhai (Shahid Kapoor) like Lage Raho Munna Bhai,” the Phone Bhoot actor said laughingly.

Reasoning why he said so, Khatter added, “We do a lot of hills and hairpin turns. In some dangerous routes we sometimes do high-altitude routes and all, so sometimes there’s not enough space for a sidecar. So, it would be really fun to see her hanging off of a cliff.”

Mira Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter’s bond

Like a loving sister-in-law, Mira has always supported Ishaan. After watching the special screening of his movie Pippa, the social media personality and Shahid Kapoor’s wife reviewed it and heaped praise on her brother-in-law. She penned, “Take a bow Team PIPPA! Fantastic film with a thumping heart, grit, evocative emotion and sincerity. So proud of you @ishaankhatter! Target destroyed! Music that thrills and kills!”

Some notable movies of Ishaan include Beyond the Clouds, Dhadak, Khaali Peeli, and Fursat.

The Indian film industry got another star in the name of Ishaan Khatter. The actor who hails from a family with its roots in acting started working in the industry as a child artist. After associating with a couple of movies as an assistant director, he made his debut as an adult with the drama film Beyond The Clouds in the year 2017. As the artist recently stepped into Hollywood with his upcoming six-part OTT series The Perfect Couple, Khatter spoke about the difference between working on a Bollywood and a Hollywood project.

Ishaan Khatter reveals the difference between working in Bollywood and Hollywood

In a recent sit-down interview with ANI, the actor shared his experience of working on his debut Hollywood project The Perfect Couple. Ishaan Khatter was asked if there’s any difference in the working of the foreign industry in comparison to Bollywood. Responding to it, the actor said that he doesn’t feel that there is any major difference between working here and there.

The Dhadak actor said, “You try to completely understand a character and try to embody it. Even if the language changes, human emotion never changes. Like we say ‘navras’. Every human goes through the same nine emotions. So, there wasn’t much difference at the fundamental level.”

But even if the core remains the same, the technicalities and formalities are definitely a little unfamiliar. The Phone Bhoot actor added, “However, their system and formalities are slightly different. Obviously, the language, English, is different. So, that’s the main difference but apart from that the work we do (in Bollywood and Hollywood) is the same I believe,” Ishaan concluded.

Ishaan Khatter spoke about the audition process for his Hollywood project

In the same interview, the A Suitable Boy actor also shared how he auditioned for the web series and got selected for it. He said, “The audition happened like usual. I got a script, I self-taped myself, and sent my audition and they selected me on the basis of that.”

Ishaan Khatter is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming biographical war film Pippa. The movie which is based on the life of Captain Balram Singh Mehta who fought bravely during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 also stars Mrunal Thakur and Priyanshu Painyuli in lead roles. Phone Bhoot Review

    [ad_1]

    critic’s rating:

    3.0/5

Major (Siddhant Chaturvedi) and Gullu (Ishaan Khattar) are major horror buffs who’ve grown up on a daily dose of Ramsay Brothers films, as well as Hollywood fare. In a bid to unite their passion with entrepreneurship, they start several businesses with horror as the theme but unfortunately for them, everything bombs. They meet an actual ghost Ragini (Katrina Kaif) at a ghost-themed party hosted by them. She points out that since they can see ghosts, they should start an exorcism business. She joins up with them and they end up providing moksha to several trapped souls. Their success is noticed by sorcerer Atmaram (Jackie Shroff) who uses the trapped souls for his own evil purposes. How the two slackers and their friendly ghost defeat Atmaram forms the crux of the film.

Phone Bhoot is perhaps the silliest horror comedy you’ll ever see. There’s a dance off between ghosts in the film, a Bengali chudail who is tired of freelance work and needs a corporate job, a Punjabi daayan who loves to dance, another ghost who likes shayari and so on. It’s both self-referential and self-aware. A couple of cleverly placed product placements will surely make you smile. Perhaps the most tongue-in-cheek moment happens when Katrina Kaif’s character asks Sheeba Chadha, “Aapki Hindi kamjor hai kya,” (Do you not know Hindi well). It’s campy, irreverent and doesn’t take itself seriously. There’s even a scene which has Jackie Shroff sending himself up, proclaiming he’s the original hero since 1983 and playing the Hero signature tune on a flute.

The problem is that it’s not very well put together and the material is all over the place. There’s a lack of coherence in the film which mars its overall effect. We understand it was made during the pandemic and hence must have suffered because of it. Still, a better attention to detail, to screenplay and editing, would have turned it into a far superior product than it currently is.

The cast have taken to the silliness like ducks to water. Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khattar have a bromance going and play off each other’s strengths. Their reaction shots to each other and to Katrina Kaif are spot on. They are goofy, playful, and bring out their inner Jim Carrey making faces. You can see they’re having a lot of fun essaying their roles. The same is the case with Katrina Kaif, who one can fathom is having a whale of a time playing a helpful ghost. She has always displayed good comic timing and is in her element here as well. Jackie Shroff as a megalomaniac tantrik too makes his presence felt.

As said earlier, all the elements of the film don’t hang together well. Watch the film if you like silly comedies.

Story: Best buddies and wannabe ghostbusters, Major and Gullu, assisted by a bhatakti aatma Ragini, are out to offer salvation to the dead and gone. Their life takes an unexpected turn when they’re faced with an evil baba, jealous of their progress.

Review: Gullu and Major (Ishaan and Siddhant Chaturvedi), two single boys living together, aspire to become professional ghostbusters. With the assistance of friendly ghost, Ragini (Katrina Kaif), they somewhat succeed in doing so. But their journey hits a roadblock when they get pulled into Ragini’s larger plan to salvage her lover from the clutches of an evil baba, Aatmaram (Jackie Shroff).
Gurmmeet Singh’s Phone Bhoot, written by Ravi Shankaran and Jasvinder Singh Bath, is an eclectic, out-of-the-box comedy. It’s evident from the proceedings that the writers and the director have spent a considerable amount of time visualising every minute of the film, so it doesn’t lose its steam half-way into its runtime.

Reminiscent of films like Andaz Apna Apna, the characters take their situations and themselves very seriously. That paves the way for humour which is embedded neatly into the screenplay, is unabashed and character-led. References to old and some relatively new Hindi movies and kinky horror films of the bygone decades (Ramsay Brothers’ films) are also stitched into the narrative seamlessly. The screenplay is peppered with dialogues that will ease you into this film’s crazy world and make you laugh through most parts.

Having said that, the film lags in terms of pace in the first half till Jackie Shroff’s entry into the mix. That changes the film’s gear for the better, but it also makes the eventual conflict in the second half somewhat predictable. There are minor but unmissable loopholes at a few junctures. The film also takes certain creative liberties which should have been avoided completely, and that would have made the narrative even more engaging and entertaining.

In the technical department, the film’s VFX, production design and prosthetics are perfectly synced with the narrative. The film has been edited well, but it could have been slicker. The songs are purely ornamental to the narrative here. Even though you don’t mind them, you don’t take them home with you.

Ishaan, Katrina and Siddhant have a cool camaraderie as the ghost-busting trio. The boys put out a confident performance. They’re the new-age version of Amar-Prem who don’t eat into each other’s screen-time or performances. They vibe with each other which is pleasant. The director has also ensured that the balance between their screen time and their overall presentation is maintained throughout the runtime.

Katrina Kaif is beautiful to look at. She makes it a point to ensure that her presence doesn’t overpower the narrative; she establishes her bro-code with the boys, and delivers an effortless performance, playing on her strengths. Jackie Shroff is the tadka to this mix. He’s the seetimaar element of this comedy without whom the humour quotient of the film would not be where it is.

Overall, Gurmmeet Singh puts out a unique horror comedy which is a departure from most material one has seen in the year so far. For that itself this one deserves a visit to the theatre.

Ponniyin Selvan: Katrina Kaif praises Mani Ratnam film; expresses desire to work in South movies

    [ad_1]

Director Mani Ratnam‘s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 1 has once again proved that content is the new king in the Indian film industry and the new mantra of success. The movie, which features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi among other stalwarts, has come closer to Rs 475 crore mark worldwide. While Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt and other superstars have wished to work in south films and already done some, Katrina Kaif has now joined the bandwagon to feature in south Indian films.

Katrina is currently awaiting the release of her upcoming horror-comedy movie Phone Bhoot. During her recent media interaction, the actress expressed her wish to work in south films if someone comes up with a good script with a strong character to play on the screen. “If ever there’s a script which is compelling enough and has a strong character, language won’t be a barrier for me. We have some phenomenal directors working in south India,” she told IANS.

She then showered praises on the Mani Ratnam directorial Ponniyin Selvan. “The best and the most recent example is Mani Ratnam sir’s Ponniyin Selvan: 1. Such an amazing film, na? Such grandeur, beautiful frames and music. To make a film on such a big scale at this stage in his life, that proves the mettle of an iconic director,” she said.

Many might not know that Katrina has worked in a few south films such as the 2004 Telugu release Malliswari and Allari Pidugu in 2005, followed by the Malayalam film Balram vs. Tharadas.

On the work front, Katrina will be next seen in her upcoming film Phone Bhoot, which also stars Ishaan Khatter and Siddhant Chaturvedi. She is playing a ghost in the film, which has been directed by Mirzapur fame director Gurmeet Singh. She also has Tiger 3 with Salman Khan and Jee Le Zaara alongside Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra.
