  • Former Douglas County teacher pleads guilty to child sex exploitation

A former Douglas County School District high school teacher and coach pleaded guilty to child sexual exploitation Monday, court records show.

Christen Cassic, 55, of Parker was arrested in January on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a child, a felony, and indecent exposure. The indecent-exposure charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Cassic started working as an assistant coach at Legend High School in 2015 and also worked there as a math teacher from 2019 to 2022. He was hired as an assistant coach and computer science teacher at Rock Canyon High School in 2022.

According to reporting from Colorado Community Media, Cassic was arrested after someone walked into his classroom at Rock Canyon and found him with his pants down looking at a laptop, which he quickly closed.

Cassic later admitted to having a USB drive with explicit photos that he viewed at school, which detectives say contained suspected child sexual abuse material.

  • Ex-San Jose cop pleads to on-duty indecent exposure, sexual battery, road rage

SAN JOSE — A former San Jose police officer who gained notoriety in 2022 after he was caught masturbating while working a family disturbance call has pleaded no contest to indecent exposure, along with separate instances of groping women both on- and off-duty, and a subsequent road rage episode while he was out of custody for the previous charges.

Matthew Dominguez, 35, entered the plea to Judge Benjamin Williams in a San Jose courtroom on Tuesday. Under the terms of a plea agreement with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, he will be technically sentenced to three years and two months in prison, though because of credit for the year and nine months he has spent at the Santa Clara County Main Jail, he won’t spend any additional time in custody.

Dominguez was granted supervised release pending his scheduled Sept. 25 sentencing, and in the intervening weeks is expected to resolve two sets of misdemeanor DUI charges in San Mateo County before returning to Santa Clara County court. As part of the plea agreement, Dominguez will voluntarily surrender his police certification with the state Commission Peace Officer Standards and Training, which had temporarily suspended his licensing pending the outcome of the criminal case.

He also pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor stemming from a Palo Alto traffic stop in which he reportedly refused to submit to alcohol screening. That occurred just a week before his Nov. 17, 2023 road rage arrest, and those cases and the San Mateo County DUI arrests all occurred months after his four-year stint with the San Jose Police Department ended under the cloud of the sexual misconduct charges.

“A police officer’s presence should ensure safety and care. Matthew Dominguez abused that notion to harm his victims and he undermined the badge he wore by doing so,” Deputy District Attorney Jason Malinsky said Tuesday. “Today he is being held accountable for his crimes in and out of uniform.”

Dominguez’s attorney, Daniel Mayfield, said his client’s mental health began suffering after joining SJPD in 2018 and that he received counseling and medical treatment while in jail. Dominguez was the subject of court hearings to evaluate his mental competence that ended with him being deemed fit for trial.

“This was a very sad situation,” Mayfield said in a statement. “We believe that a settlement in this case was in the interest of all parties, and Mr. Dominguez has expressed his profound condolences to the victims in these cases.”

  • Maryland police arrest man charged with exposing himself on Sligo Creek Trail – WTOP News

Maryland police arrest man charged with exposing himself on Sligo Creek Trail – WTOP News

Maryland-National Capital Park Police have arrested a man who is accused of exposing himself on the Sligo Creek Trail in Takoma Park.

Maryland-National Capital Park Police have arrested a man who is accused of exposing himself on the Sligo Creek Trail in Takoma Park.

Police announced Wednesday they had taken 24-year-old Jose Ivan Cordova-Blanco, of Hyattsville, into custody on indecent conduct charges for an incident on Aug. 17.

A similar incident occurred in Sligo Park on July 14 when a man exposed himself to female joggers, but police said they don’t know if it was the same suspect in that case and the investigation is ongoing.

“A whistle is a great thing to have on hand in any situation at all times. It’s small, it’s very lightweight. You can stick it in your pocket or you can safety pin it to your shorts or shirt, and it makes a very, very loud noise, which will attract attention and scare someone off,” Capt. Tracy Lieberman with the Maryland-National Capital Park Police Montgomery County Division, told WTOP last month.

Police are asking anyone who may have information in this case to contact them at 301-929-2748 or by email.

  • Man charged with burglary and indecent exposure over break-in at Santa Monica apartment

Man charged with burglary and indecent exposure over break-in at Santa Monica apartment

A man accused of illegally entering the home of a Santa Monica woman and performing a sex act near her as she slept has been charged with a pair of felonies.

Los Angeles County prosecutors on Tuesday charged Anthony Romero, 28, with one count of burglary and one count of indecent exposure and illegal entry. Romero, who remains in custody, is expected back in court April 17 for a preliminary hearing.

Anthony Romero, 28, who has a lengthy criminal record, faces charges for allegedly breaking into a Santa Monica woman’s home and masturbating next to her as she slept.

    (Santa Monica Police Department)

Romero is alleged to have entered the 2nd Street apartment at 2:10 a.m. on Feb. 29, according to Santa Monica Police.

He is alleged to have climbed through an unlocked window, likely by stepping on a porch, according to Santa Monica Police Lt. Erika Aklufi.

Romero then walked over to the victim and masturbated as she slept, according to authorities. He did not make contact with the woman, according to Aklufi.

While he was exposing himself, the victim awoke and ordered Romero to leave, according to police. Romero complied as the woman called police. He left the apartment before officers responded to the call.

Security footage was collected by police, who arrested Romero just before 9:30 a.m. the following day while he was walking on Santa Monica Boulevard.

Romero was initially booked with an additional charge of attempt to commit rape, which has been dropped.

Romero was on parole in San Bernardino County for a weapons violation. He had been arrested in Santa Monica in January 2022 for shoplifting and last June for public intoxication, resisting arrest and battery on a police officer, according to Aklufi. Police said Romero identified himself to officers as homeless.

  • Naked man streaks across Disneyland ride

Naked man streaks across Disneyland ride

A man was arrested after getting naked at Disneyland Park in California, police said.

Officers responded to the theme park in Anaheim just after 1:30 p.m. on Sunday to help Disneyland security with a guest who had removed his clothes and “was naked in or near” the “It’s a Small Word” ride, Jonathan McClintock, a spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department told the Los Angeles Times.

The 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure and being under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.

He was first taken to the hospital as a precaution, McClintock told the Times. He did not provide the man’s name or any other details to the newspaper.

Newsweek has contacted the Anaheim Police Department and Disneyland for further comment via email.

Some Disneyland guests took to social media to post about the incident.

Footage posted on Instagram shows a man walking around the boat ride’s sets, as Christmas music plays in the background. The video also shows the man’s clothes and shoes in a pile on the floor.

“When you get stuck on small world, weird things happen lol he just pushed the boat behind us.. he is just some guy,” an Instagram user with the handle @iheartdisneyland wrote in a caption to the video.

“We were stuck on the ride for about an hour and 15 minutes. Thankfully we are safe and we got off safely.”

Another video on Instagram shows the man sitting next to a group of singing animatronic dolls.

“Stop! You’re going to get hurt, stop, stop… I need you to stop, please, just sit down,” a person can be heard shouting at the man in a clip shared on the platform by user @magic.with.maegra.

“Guys please don’t do this it’s not only is it’s dangerous for you it’s dangerous to everyone on the ride,” the user wrote in a comment on the video.

In a comment on the post, the user added that the man “ended up running off the ride naked but safely got detained by security and went off in an ambulance to get help.”

Another video posted on X, formerly Twitter, shows a man completely naked, wading into the water near the ride’s entrance.

“I AM ON SMALL WORLD AND THERE WAS A STREAKER, I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING,” Ashley Esqueda wrote in another post on the platform.

Disneyland officials told KTLA that the man had stepped out of the ride’s vehicle while the attraction was in operation. Employees stopped the ride as soon as they were made aware of the situation, according to the station.
