    Purchase IHG One Rewards points and receive a bonus of 100% of the points purchased. That means that you can purchase IHG points for just 0.5 cents each. Members may purchase a maximum of up to 200,000 points during a calendar year.

    There is a minimum points purchase threshold on a per transaction basis to be eligible for a bonus. The percentage bonus amount will show for eligible members when they log into their IHG One Rewards account.

    Guru’s Wrap-Up

    IHG points have an average value of about 0.4 cents each. Through this offer you’re purchasing them for 0.5 cents a piece, so just slightly above that. The best use of IHG points is to book 4-night stays where you get the fourth night free if you have an IHG One Rewards credit card.

    Even though you’re getting these points for half the normal price, you shouldn’t buy them speculatively. Make sure you have a redemption in mind and also check cash prices to see if you would be getting a better deal by booking with purchased points.

    These points are sold by Points.com and not directly from IHG, so just use a credit card that earns at least 2% on everyday spending. You can go a step further by purchasing a gift card and earning 5X, then use the gift card for the purchase. You can also try going through a portal to save even more.

    Our Verdict

    This is the highest bonus we’ve seen on this card, previous high was 175,000 points. This new offer does have a higher minimum spend requirement though. A reminder that the personal version of this bonus is five free night certificates of up to 60,000 points per night.  One advantage of Chase business cards is that they don’t count towards your 5/24 status. Before applying read these things everybody should know about Chase. We will be adding this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

    Our Verdict

    Best bonus was 175,000 points. Think this is a much better bonus as you’re getting five free night certificates up to 60,000 points per certificate (really up to a maximum of 300,000 points). Some things to know about the certificates:

    • They expire 1 year after being issued
    • In the past you have not being able to top up certificates from the sign up bonus with additional points (e.g if a property costs 70,000 points per night it wasn’t possible to add 10,000 points to one of these certificates)

    There are some datapoints that this is bypassing 5/24, but it’s unclear if this is due to miscounting (share your datapoints in the comments below). It’s possible we will see the same offer with an additional $100 statement credit when doing a dummy booking but don’t think it’s necessarily worth waiting for based on the history of those offers appearing for IHG. We will add this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

    • To participate in the “2,000 Points Every 2 Nights” Promotion (the “Promotion”), an individual must have an active, valid IHG One Rewards member account and must register for the Promotion. Members can pre-register for this Promotion from 20th March 2024 until 31st March 2024 (the “Pre-Registration Period”). Members will be able to stay and earn IHG One Rewards bonus points under this Promotion beginning 1st April 2024 and ending on 31st May 2024 (the “Promotion Period”). Members who did not register during the Pre-Registration Period may register for the Promotion during the Promotion Period. A member can only register once.     • After registering for the Promotion, a member can earn 2,000 bonus points for every two (2) qualifying room night stays during the Promotion Period. The points earned during the 2,000 Points Every 2 Nights Promotion can be used toward Reward Nights, can be redeemed for merchandise or can be used for other redemption opportunities, as permitted under the IHG One Rewards programme. The time needed for awarding points can vary with each promotion, so please allow up to 6 weeks for any earned bonus points to be posted to the recipient’s account.

    Target Considers Amazon Prime-Style Membership Plans

    Target is reportedly mulling a paid membership plan similar to Amazon Prime and Walmart+. The new program, known as “Project Trident” within the company, could launch as soon as this year, Bloomberg reported Wednesday (Feb. 7), citing unnamed sources. While the retailer already has its Target Circle loyalty program, offering deals and rewards for purchases, the new program would go further, offering other benefits and requiring a fee, the report said.     I refused to swap plane seats so a mom could sit with toddler

    An angry traveler has shared their frustrations over a woman who had “the audacity” to request a seat swap so she could sit next to her kid. In a resurfaced Reddit post now going viral, the flummoxed flyer said it was “not my problem they didn’t book together” when asked to switch seats.     FAA says 737 Max operator discovered loose bolts in rudder

    The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has said an operator of a 737 Max plane discovered loose bolts in a rudder control system for the plane. The FAA said it received a report about a missing nut, washer and “migrated” bolt in the system from an operator in December of last year. It said Boeing then inspected all 737 Max 8, 737 Max 8-200, and 737 Max 9 planes in production and turned up another “under-torqued nut at the same location.” ➡️ Read more
