Ice-T recently told “The Breakfast Club” (via Entertainment Weekly) why he swapped the lyrics from his 1992 track “Cop Killer” to “ICE Killer” during a live performance. The Grammy winner explained that when he first did it during a Los Angeles show in July, it wasn’t a premeditated change.
“I have political things I think about,” Ice-T said. “Now when I did that, that didn’t happen just recently. It happened when we played in L.A. at the Warped Tour. When I was there, ICE was active out there. So it’s like, I’m in the midst of ICE raids and stuff like that, and I’m in front of an L.A. audience, and it just came out. I didn’t know I was gonna do it.”
He added, “My brain just said, ‘Do “ICE Killer.”‘ And it went over.”
Tensions with ICE have been at an all-time high in the U.S. following the killing of two American citizens at the hands of federal agents: Minnesota residents Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Ice-T maintained that whether he says “Cop Killer” or “ICE Killer,” the message is the same. He said of the song’s purpose, “I’m just protesting.”
“I think we’re headed to some really ugly terrain,” he said. “And Black people really ain’t got nothing to do with it. It’s bad. I think the moment somebody shoots an ICE agent, it’s gonna get bad.”
Despite protesting with his music, Ice-T said the only ones who should have any authority on social issues are the people “that really carry it with them daily.”
“If that’s who you are. If it’s not, don’t do it for publicity. Don’t do it for hype,” he said. “Don’t let your publicist tell you, ‘Speak on this topic.’ Because if you’re not educated enough to speak on it, you’re going to end up caught out there.”
Mickey Rourke and the late Peter Greene are among the notable stars of a forthcoming indie feature offering an updated take on a classic Edgar Allan Poe work.
Director Craig Cukrowski’s psychological drama 3 Days Rising reimagines the short story The Fall of the House of Usher and boasts a cast that includes Rourke, Greene, Ice-T, Vincent Young and Kelly Monrow. The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively debut the movie’s trailer, seen below, before its planned debut on the festival circuit later this year.
3 Days Rising marks the final lead feature role for Greene, who died last month at 60 and was known for parts in Pulp Fiction, The Mask and Training Day. Cukrowski, who helmed the film from brother Derek Cukrowski’s script, had been friends with Greene for more than 20 years and notes that the actor’s real-life personality was much different from the hardened characters he portrayed.
“He’s the exact opposite of his screen persona,” Craig Cukrowski tells THR. “He’s a very warm, caring, emotional person and very generous. That’s the side of Peter that I always knew as his friend, and then it was a privilege to get to see the professional side of him, where he immerses himself completely in a character.”
Cukrowski explains that not only was the project written as a starring vehicle for Greene, but that a character was specifically created for Rourke as well. However, the team was unsure if Rourke would appear in the movie until right before the start of principal photography, which wrapped a few years ago.
“That was a dream come true,” the filmmaker says of casting Rourke. “It’s a pinch-yourself moment because when we wrote the story, we had always envisioned Mickey Rourke playing that character. We did not cast that role because we were holding out to hopefully get Mickey. Two weeks into production, we finally got Mickey, and then we shot him a week later.”

Cukrowski gets emotional when recalling Greene’s reaction to the finished version of 3 Days Rising. “After Peter screened the latest cut, he called me in tears because he was so happy with it,” the director says. “He oddly referred to it as the ultimate swan song, which I just blew off as Peter being Peter with hyperbole. He was very proud of the work.”
3 Days Rising centers on Greene’s character dealing with a diminishing grip on reality as his estranged siblings pull him back into his violent past. Cukrowski produced the film alongside Greene, Ice-T, Derek Cukrowski, Tim O’Brien and Noel Ashman.
O’Brien adds, “Peter gave himself completely to this film — creatively, emotionally and spiritually. Living on location throughout the shoot fostered a rare level of trust and intimacy that permeates every frame. 3 Days Rising is not only his final performance, but a lasting testament to who he was as an artist and as a human being.”
Kravitz revealed his commitment to celibacy while speaking with The Guardian in an interview published the same day. Kravitz also revealed that he hadn’t been in a serious relationship in nine years and is choosing to remain celibate until he finds a loving partner.
Ice-T seemingly believes Lenny’s behavior is bizarre. He tweeted, “9 yrs without sex? F that BS. Weirdo shit.”
The “Body Count’ rapper later decided to delete his vitriolic statement. However, he responded to commenters who caught his message before its removal.
“That’s wrong Ice!” a woman wrote. “That’s not weird. That’s his own journey.”
@FINALLEVEL tweeted, “Why judge him though? It’s his choice. He’s different to you…I don’t think it’s fair to assume something is wrong with him because he’s chose to celibate for a long period. I think there are many humans who can & do abstain for long periods for various reasons. Choice.”
Ice-T responded, “S***’s weird to me…., I love to F****. A lot.”
Ice-T is a former pimp, so it isn’t shocking that he disagrees with the idea of abstaining from sex. Lenny has yet to respond to the actor’s comments.
Lenny’s Thoughts On Celibacy
The 60-year-old told The Guradian his celibacy journey was “a spiritual thing.” He also shared that although he yearns to be in a relationship right now, he thinks that he has “become very set in [his] ways.”
Arizona may host myriad celebrities within its borders at any time, but they’re typically here for a short visit. Special events like the WM Phoenix Open or stylish resort destinations like Scottsdale or Sedona are popular draws, attracting famous names to our state each year…
Tracy Lauren Marrow had one of the coolest stage names when he entered the rap game, dubbing himself with a moniker that’ll forever be synonymous with hip-hop: Ice-T. Nearly 40 years later, Mariska Hargitay has now revealed she has a fresher nickname for him, if not a cooler one.
The revelation came to light on Thursday at Ice-T’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. While presenting the legendary rapper, and actor, Hargitay said one of the reasons why she loves Ice-T is because he allows her to call him nicknames. While at the podium, she turned to her “Law & Order: SVU” co-star and practically begged him if she could divulge the nickname only she’s allowed to call him.
Unable to contain his laughter, Ice-T relented, prompting Hargitay to exclaim, “He lets me call him Icy!” Following the presentation of his newly minted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Ice-T spoke with ET’s Ash Crossan and glowingly spoke about his “Law & Order” co-star and the friendship they’ve formed over the last two decades-plus working together.
“Yeah, you know, I told her to be careful with that, but she put me on blast,” quipped the legendary rapper. “I love Mariska. Mariska’s become a close friend. Like I say, how many friends have you had for 25 years that you see every day? You know? So, of course we became close, and we understand we got a job to do and we made a show that’s been on longer than any other show.”

Ice-T’s never been shy about his upbringing. He grew up some 30 minutes away from where his star was unveiled, a notion that never crossed his mind when he was living a life of crime and trying to make it as a DJ. It wasn’t long before he established himself as one of the preeminent gangsta rappers and cemented his name with the 1991 album O.G. Original Gangster and a Grammy that same year for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for his collaboration on “Back on the Block”. He’d be nominated for two more Grammys before landing his second trophy in 2021 with “Bum-Rush” for Best Metal Performance.
Ice-T got into acting in the mid-1980s and played his first police detective role in the 1991 thriller “New Jack City”. He’d land numerous roles soon after, but he etched his name in TV lore as Sgt. Odafin “Fin” Tutuola on “Law & Order: SVU”, joining the Dick Wolf-produced show in 2000 and eventually becoming the longest-running male actor in a TV series.

After such a long road, it’s no wonder Ice-T still can’t believe his name is literally cemented on Hollywood Boulevard.
“I can’t believe it, you know, where I actually came from, and what I’ve been through, the theory of being on the Walk of Fame is unimaginable,” he tells ET. “I’ve always been that guy that was, you know, in another lane of hip-hop. But then, like, we got to the Grammys, they represent us in the Grammys, and I had my birthday, it’s been a hell of a week for me. So I’m very happy and excited. And I realized that I’m not only getting this star for me, I’m getting it for all my fans and people that have supported me all these years.”
And those people include Hargitay, the rest of his “Law & Order” colleagues, his wife, Coco Austin, daughter, Chanel, and longtime friend, Ice Cube, all of whom were on hand to celebrate Ice-T’s monumental success.
Despite the momentous occasion, Ice-T never forgets he’s a father first. He got a kick out of Chanel joining him onstage when her name was mentioned. But if she ever grows up with plans to join the family business, Papa’s got some advice.
“I mean, you gotta back showbiz with something else,” he says. “She also wants to be a doctor, I’mma tell her to be a plastic surgeon, that ain’t going out of business. You gotta back this, ’cause this is a dream, and when you base something on a dream — ’cause it’s also called the boulevard of broken dreams. … So I want to make sure that if that happens, cool, but have something to fall back on, obviously.”
Acting and rapping icon Ice-T will be honoured with a prestigious star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
The ceremony will take place on Friday, Feb. 17.
The legendary emcee shared his thoughts on the achievement on his Instagram, where he wrote: “When I think back about all the times I was arrested in Hollywood…. This is a trip.. 💎”
Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, spoke highly of the Hollywood vet as she announced his enrollment.
“Ice-T is a cultural icon and a success both in the music and television industries. His fans will be very excited to see their favourite performer placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
Martinez also revealed that Ice’s star would live near the names of other music greats such as Thelonius Monk, Mama Cass Elliott, John Denver and Herbie Hancock.
Ice-T’s star will be unveiled with appearances by legendary rapper Chuck D and director Dick Wolf.
Ice-T has an extremely long history with Dick Wolf, as the two have collaborated on over seven projects with each other, including Wolf’s telefilm “Exiled: A Law & Order Movie” in 1998.

Ice-T is being celebrated as the longest-running male actor in a TV series for his role on “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit”. Having joined the series in 2000, with over 400 episodes under his belt, the Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola actor has reached this impressive milestone achievement.
ET’s Rachel Smith spoke with Ice-T and his wife, Coco Austin, on the red carpet of Heidi Klum‘s famous Halloween party on Monday, where the couple was dressed as vampires for the holiday.
Despite celebrating his achievement as the longest-running male actor on a single series, Ice-T was quick to concede that his co-star, Mariska Hargitay, holds the title for women.
“Mariska beat me but she’s an actress,” Ice-T shared. “You’ve gotta be on the show that stays on the longest — [‘Law and Order’] is the longest-running show, so to get that title you have to be on — it’s all consecutive.”
He continued, “There are people that have acted way longer than me, but to be on one show continuously for that long — it has never been done.”
Ice-T, 64, has played the tough yet caring detective on “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” for over two decades. Before joining the ranks on the NBC series, Ice-T began his career with roles in 1980’s “Breakin’” and the sequel of the same name four years later. The West Coast rapper then went on to star in 1991’s “New Jack City”.
