Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) will be bringing the award-winning Elantra N and IONIQ 5 N to the Philippines in July of 2024. N, with roots in Hyundai’s winning DNA, is the brand’s flagship line of high-performance motorsport vehicles. With its N-exclusive features, both the Elantra N and IONIQ 5 N allow their drivers to go from daily driver to track star, a true testament to the N core values – Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sports Car.
Elantra N
The Elantra N is a compact sedan with a 2.0 Turbo Engine capable of 280 Ps of power and 392 Nm of Torque. Equipped with N Launch Control, the vehicle can go from 0 to 100 kph in 5.3 seconds. It produces an exciting pop & bang when upshifting in certain drive modes like SPORT or N mode. N Grin Shift also allows maximum acceleration and a 10-horsepower increase in driving conditions for up to 20 seconds. The Elantra N will retail for PHP2,738,000 in four different colors which are Atlas White, Abyss Black Pearl, Cyber Gray Metallic, and Performance Blue.
IONIQ 5 N
On the other hand, the IONIQ 5 N is a compact sports utility vehicle (C-SUV) perfect for both everyday cruising and spirited driving on the road or track, setting the standard for high-performance electric vehicles (EV). With features integrated from its award-winning precursor, the IONIQ 5. The IONIQ 5 N’s 84 kWh Battery powers its All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system in its front & rear motors, resulting to a 650 Ps maximum output with N Grin Boost. N Active Sound, integrated with the N e-Shift, provides a virtual sound optimized for EV N performance. The IONIQ 5 N will be available for PHP4,250,000 in five color options, Atlas White, Abyss Black Pearl, Cyber Gray Metallic, Performance Blue, and Performance Blue Matte.
Official N Dealers
HMPH also recently signed its first four official N dealers — Hyundai Alabang, Commonwealth Avenue, Makati, and Pasig — that will pilot Hyundai N in the Philippines. HMPH president Dongwook Lee, HMPH managing director Cecil Capacete, and four dealer executives, namely, Hyundai Commonwealth Avenue president Atty. Anna Lyne San Juan Ponferrada, Hyundai Pasig president Rudolph Samuel Bonifacio, Hyundai Makati vice president Martin Paulo Arancon, Hyundai Alabang president William Chiongbian II, were among those present at the ceremony.
“We have been getting asked as to why we are already bringing in N. Well, one reason is it supports us, Hyundai, as a brand to become more competitive. Leveraging on our global heritage and accomplishments to set ourselves apart in the market. More importantly, it helps us push further our shared vision, which is to Innovate Everyday. Providing not just exciting mobility solutions but also finding ways to be present in the lives of more Filipino customers”, said Capacete in his short message thanking the four (4) dealers.
Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH) confirms the arrival and start of sales of the All-New Santa Fe in the country. This is the mid-size SUV’s first full model change since 2018, and it undergoes a radical exterior transformation and enhances its signature adventure-meets-city appeal.
The “Open For More” concept for this fifth-generation Santa Fe took inspiration from its wider tailgate opening, which happens to be the starting point of its design rebirth. Created with a terrace-like living space to provide plenty of room and a seamless transition between urban life and the great outdoors.
Unique and Bold SUV Typology
The All-New Santa Fe has a distinct, boxier, and bolder silhouette and is 45mm longer and 95mm higher than its predecessor. It has a shorter overhang, allowing the wheelbase to be extended by 50mm and the tailgate to be 145mm wider so that interior space is maximized both for passengers and loads. Limiting the coefficient drag, given its now larger body, has also been prioritized to ensure improved driving comfort and fuel efficiency. This is why angled side mirrors, active air flaps in both the top and bottom of the front bumper, skid plates on the front and rear bumpers, and a spoiler at the rear have been strategically placed.
A bridge-type roof rail has also been incorporated alongside the dual sunroof to allow greater versatility in mounting accessories or additional storage. A C-Pillar Assist Handle allows easier roof access. It can withstand up to 200kg and is sized generously, so the safety of users getting up and down can be guaranteed. The built-in glass cover is both sleek-looking and functional, as it can be locked when not in use. Seen from the side, the All-New Santa Fe’s sharply defined wheel arches are complemented by 21-inch black ink wheels with Continental tires.
H-shaped elements are evident throughout the exterior such as the LED horizontal lamp with daytime running lights (DRL), front bumper garnish, and radiator grille, as well as rear taillights. These are carried over to the inside specifically the front dashboard’s mood lights and aircon vents and the stitching of the seats. This motif is a reinterpretation of Hyundai’s ‘H’ emblem made to complement the All-New Santa Fe’s new design identity.
“Plus Alpha” Space Experience
The All-New Santa Fe has a refined and up-scale interior in contrast to its strong exterior. At the heart of this is the philosophy of a “plus alpha” space experience that connects outdoor-indoor living. The fully foldable second and third-row seats can be repurposed as cargo beds, whether for groceries, home projects, sports and recreation, or camping trips.
When at the driver’s seat, there is a 12.3-inch panoramic curved display for the instrument cluster and infotainment screen. To the left of it is a fingerprint recognition system that is easy to use and, more importantly, secure. A first for the brand, it now supports seat memory customizing and access to a personalized infotainment system. Hyundai showcased this technology in 2019, making proactive efforts toward the expansion of software-defined vehicles.
A UV-C sterilization tray is found on top of the glove box. Since Santa Fe was conceptualized during the pandemic, this has been retained for the users’ health and sanitation. At the bottom, under the full-touch climate control panel, is a dual wireless charging pad, another first from the brand. Since some users still prefer a wired connection, 6 USB-C ports and a 12-volt socket are also present.
The center has been ergonomically designed with thoughtful storage, such as a bottom space in between the front row seats and a bi-directional console box with a lower sliding tray, which enables a variety of uses, especially since it can be opened from both ends and has a removable divider.
City-Friendly and Adventure-Ready
The All-New Santa Fe is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission — producing a maximum output of 281ps and torque of 422nm. It employs a column-type shift-by-wire system, similar to the brand’s electric cars, the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6. Alongside these are drive and terrain settings that can be adjusted based on user preference on the engine power map, transmission patterns, stability control, and braking. A total of eight modes can be selected, namely: Normal, Eco, Sport, Smart, Auto, Sand, Mud and Snow.
It comes with Hyundai Traction (HTRAC), the brand’s All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, as well as a Downhill Brake Control that supports sudden changes in weather or difficult terrains.
Apart from the driver, passenger, side, and curtain airbags coming as standard, there is Hyundai SmartSense, the brand’s suite of safety features. Advanced driver assist functions such as the Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Forward Collision Avoidance, Lane Following and Keeping, Blindspot View Monitor, Reverse Parking Collision Avoidance, Parking Distance Warning, Manual Speed Limit, Rear Occupant Alert, and Surround View Monitor. All these reduce user fatigue and reinforce the confidence on daily commutes or weekend trips.
“The wait is over, we are excited to be offering the much-anticipated All-New Santa Fe to our Filipino customers. This model holds a special place in Hyundai’s history books as it is actually our first-ever in-house SUV. It has been serving as the centerpiece of the brand’s growing SUV portfolio and has sold over a million units as well as gained a loyal following globally,” according to HMPH president Dongwook Lee. “Over the course of 23 years, Santa Fe has always progressed with the times by incorporating modern design philosophies and trends. And this 5th generation is no different as it embodies our commitment to continuously innovate how we can cater to our new era of customers and their lifestyles.”
The full specifications for the All-New Santa Fe can be found on the Hyundai Motor Philippines’ website. A hybrid trim will be made available by the second half of the year. The base 2.5 GLS 8AT 2WD model retails at PHP2,410,000; the mid-level 2.5 GLS 8AT AWT is priced at PHP2,540,000; while the top-of the-line 2.5T Calligraphy 8DCT AWT goes for PHP3,100,000. Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has recently made a big move to name four local entertainment icons — Piolo Pascual, Sarah Geronimo, Kim Chiu, and Paulo Avelino — as its first-ever ambassadors. The carmaker underwent a brand transformation in the Philippine market and determinedly re-introduced itself as a mobility solutions provider throughout the past year.
Ms. Sarah Geronimo completes HMPH’s
group of brand ambassadors for 2024
“We warmly welcome Piolo, Sarah, Kim, and Paulo to Team Hyundai! This select group has been put together not only because they are the most esteemed and talented stars of this generation. But more importantly, since they are known to have positively adapted and evolved themselves at every stage of their respective careers. And as we find ourselves going through a similar journey, we look forward to them becoming catalysts. We believe they will be helpful in broadening our reach. This means forming deeper connections while communicating our vision on innovation and sustainability with Filipino motorists,” as per HMPH managing director Cecil Capacete.
Piolo, regarded as “Asia’s Drama Superstar,” has cemented his status with more than three decades in showbiz. Overseen by Erickson Raymundo’s Cornerstone Entertainment Inc., he is highly acclaimed for acting and modeling, adding hosting, producing, and directing to his list of accolades. According to him, “It’s always a great feeling to be tapped by brands that are trusted and well-respected in their respective fields. Hyundai Motor Philippines is proving to be one filled with dynamism when it comes to this. Hyundai’s promise of ‘Freedom of Mobility’ that goes beyond vehicles intrigues and excites me. I can’t wait to further discover it with my fellow Filipino car owners and enthusiasts.”
Sarah, the “popstar royalty” known for her versatility and music performances, has been with Viva Artists Management, under Vic Del Rosario, since winning the television talent show, Star For A Night. Her popularity extends abroad and is a recipient of various recognitions including the “Global Force Award” at the upcoming 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards in Los Angeles, California. She stated, “Working for about 20 years already, it’s a pleasure whenever I get to work with brands that allow me to maximize my platform and continuously grow. So this partnership with Hyundai Motor Philippines is extra special because I get to work with a group who has a unique approach towards mobility. I’m eager to be one with Hyundai’s efforts and contribute to its vision of a sustainable and progressive future for Filipinos”.
Kim rose to fame after winning the Filipino reality show, Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition. Since then, she has debuted her career as an actress, host, and recording artist, and has been named as Forbes Asia’s 2020 most influential Filipino personality and recognized for her philanthropic works.
“Those around me, even my followers for that matter, know that I enjoy being behind the wheel. I’ve had the privilege of experiencing some of Hyundai’s new-gen cars already during our taping. And as I officially become a member of the Hyundai Motor Philippines family, I’m excited that there is more to come,” said Kim, dubbed as the country’s multimedia idol and managed by Star Magic’s Laurenti Dyogi. “Though it’s only been a few years since I started to drive, the car buying and servicing process is very familiar to me. So I feel grateful to be given the chance to work with a brand whose commitment towards ownership is centered on ‘quality time’ to ensure that customers can make the most out of their cars”.
Similarly, Paulo who is an actor, singer, and film producer also kickstarted his career after participating in Starstruck, a reality celebrity search show. After years in the entertainment industry, he has been acknowledged by peers and the general public as one of the country’s best actors of his generation, proven by his numerous acting awards, and is considered to be one of the industry’s prominent leading men due to his multiple hit shows and movies.
Paulo, who is being managed by Leo Dominguez of LVD Management Corporation, mentioned during the official signing ceremony that, “It’s a plus to be endorsing a brand that you believe in and share the same passion with. So you can just imagine how happy I am that Hyundai Motor Philippines has placed their trust in me. I am even more pleased that I get to be a part of their ‘innovate everyday’ movement. He added, “I’m one who’s not afraid to branch out in terms of show business, as seen in my involvements in e-sports and gaming. Much like Hyundai, which is stepping out of its comfort zone on being just a car manufacturer to redefine innovation. There’s so much more to the brand that I’ve learned about and excited to share”.
Though having worked together already, the pair is reuniting on screen again as they lead the local adaptation of the well-loved South Korean romantic comedy series, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim. To which fans and audiences can expect to catch sight of their favorite Hyundai models make appearances.
Under the full-year partnership, Filipinos can expect to amplify the brand’s presence through several public engagements and online campaigns. This includes but is not limited to the upcoming 75th Anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea. Through March 3 marks the official celebration, HMPH has prepared a series of activities that will range from April to June as a tribute to the aforementioned friendship between the two nations.
