  • I'm Bergdorf's Fashion Director—These Are the Only Holiday Trends That Matter

I'm Bergdorf's Fashion Director—These Are the Only Holiday Trends That Matter

When it comes to the holidays, there’s no one I trust more than Linda Fargo, Bergdorf Goodman’s SVP and Fashion Director, not to mention the master of all things festive. Simply put, everything that goes in and out of the iconic New York City mainstay goes through her, especially during the holidays, when the 200,000+ square-foot building transforms into a winter wonderland of luxury, excess, and glamour. Because of that, you can safely bet that she’s well versed in the year’s most-wanted items and trends for the season of presents and parties, from dresses and jewelry to shoes and handbags.

With December fully under way, I called on Fargo following the store’s 2023 holiday-window unveiling (which she fabulously hosted alongside Martha Stewart wearing the sparkliest gown I’ve ever seen and a matching silver Moncler puffer) to find out which holiday-dressing trends she’s backing for the joyous time ahead. And as always, she didn’t disappoint. Scroll down to get the inside scoop from the “eyes of Bergdorf Goodman” herself.

I’m not embarrassed to admit that I’ve been planning my holiday party outfits for months. (And I do mean months.) (I’m hosting for the first time!) This year, my holiday party attire is all about chic looks with fun, party-ready accessories. Metallic shoes, red handbags, stacks of sparkly jewelry… I want it all. This aesthetic was also the inspiration behind Who What Wear’s latest shoot full of elevated and wearable outfits for the festive season ahead. All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, StyleCaster may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.

Holiday parties are here and NYE is fast approaching. If you’ve got some festive parties on the calendar, you’ll want to show up in an outfit to match—and I just stumbled upon the perfect brand to help out.

I’m new to hearing Aligne’s name, but I’ve already fallen fast for the brand’s expensive-looking pieces. The small, London-based, female-run team aims to offer shoppers eco-conscious, stylish looks that are “made to be worn now and forever.”

The brand’s new collection named The Party Edit is especially not to be missed this season. I’m particularly obsessed with this incredible gold foil dress that “cascades into a fluid silhouette” accompanied by a high neck, skinny waist tie belt and a tiered skirt. It’ll require no additional styling help on your part; simply slip it on and head out.

    Aligne

If you’re not a fan of dresses, I can totally see this button-up shirt in a high-shine gunmetal gray hue being a great alternative. Pair it with the matching pants for the ultimate set.

My favorites certainly don’t end there—check out some other pieces I’d add to my cart ASAP.

    Aligne Harissa Satin Bralette

This satin bralette is bound to be worn more than once or twice a year. Its square neck and open back are sexy yet understated.

Pair this off the shoulder top with a skirt and knee-high boots and call it a day.

  • I Spent Hours Restocking My Holiday Wardrobe–and It Only Includes Cozy Pieces

I Spent Hours Restocking My Holiday Wardrobe–and It Only Includes Cozy Pieces

I’m just going to say it: I’m not the biggest fan of getting dressed up for the holidays. Don’t get me wrong—I love a moment to get decked out, but this year, I’m toning it down a bit. My approach to holiday dressing used to involve multiple festive looks such as black-tie dresses and pantsuits, but the older I get, the more I prefer ease and comfort over anything else.

This year, I’m embracing a more laid-back aesthetic, but make no mistake—it will still be chic. Target is one of my favorite places to go when I’m looking for elevated staples, and it definitely delivered this season. I’ve already added the gray fleece loungewear set to my cart, and I want to style the classic black lounge dress with an oversize cardigan and a pair of knitted knee-high socks. Keep scrolling for all of my cozy picks.

5 Stunning Winter Outfits I'm Bookmarking for Party Season

They call the holiday season the most wonderful time of the year, and for me, all the party invites are the reason for that. Actually, it’s not so much the parties as it is the opportunity to wear really fabulous holiday party looks. Winter isn’t my favorite season to dress for, but when it comes to a winter party look, I have to admit I change my tune. It’s the time of year to have fun and be a little more whimsical and over the top than you normally would. Sequins? Absolutely. Bows? Encouraged. I was doing some digging on Instagram, searching for all of the winter party outfit inspiration I could find, and came across five outfits that I immediately wanted to re-create.

Keep scrolling to see which five winter party looks I’m loving for this season.

  • November Marks My Festive Party Outfit Planning—These Are the Pieces I’m Eyeing

November Marks My Festive Party Outfit Planning—These Are the Pieces I’m Eyeing

The start of November means holiday season has officially begun, and while some are putting up their decorations, others, including me, are taking up an entirely different task: holiday party outfit planning. When it comes to planning for festive party looks, I always consider these helpful tips: Black is never a mundane choice, sequins are always welcome, and a splash of color doesn’t hurt.

I’ve been feeling a little stunted in my outfit choices recently and decided to peruse Nordstrom‘s holiday curation for some inspiration. And boy did find it and then some. The red Staud mesh dress was first to go in my cart along with the Saint Laurent strap heels.  I’ve already thought of multiple ways to wear the embellished gray knit cardigan from Cinq à Sept (spoiler: with the Ulla Johnson ruffled black midi skirt and silver sequin Cult Gaia bag). Keep scrolling for all the pieces I’ve added to my wish list below.

  • I’m Calling It—This J.Crew LBD Will Be at Every Holiday Party From Now Until ’24

I’m Calling It—This J.Crew LBD Will Be at Every Holiday Party From Now Until ’24

As much as I’d like to pretend that it’s still summer, the season’s come to a close once again, and now, it’s time to face the fact that the holidays are approaching at lightning speed. If you want to be more prepared than I usually am when they come around, it’s pivotal that you get started on your gift shopping and outfit shopping too. Fortunately for you and me both, I just stumbled upon what’ll go down in the history books as 2023’s ultimate holiday dress. It’s an LBD so perfect and versatile that there’s no reason I can think of for it not to go completely viral.

The dress in question caught my eye this morning as I was scrolling through the latest drop from J.Crew, which is full of holiday-ready apparel, shoes, and accessories in fabrics like duchess satin, velvet, and tweed. A red, gold, silver, and black color palette really drives the theme home. Of all the hundreds of new arrivals I dug through, the item I fell hardest for was an off-the-shoulder jersey-knit maxi dress with long sleeves and a body-hugging silhouette that could just as easily be worn to a lunch date with the right shoes and bag as it could a black-tie gala. As an added bonus, the off-the-shoulder touch places it right at the top of both fall’s and winter’s trend lists, with everyone from Meghan Markle to Elsa Hosk donning the look and brands such as Khaite, Helsa, The Row, Jacquemus, and Reformation all making it.

Below, see and shop the dress that I’m predicting a major presence of come Thanksgiving and the holidays that follow. While you’re at it, scroll through more of my favorite finds from J.Crew’s new collection
