    As the desperate search for her mother stretches into its third heartbreaking week, Savannah Guthrie will remain off the Today show for what insiders are calling the “foreseeable future.” And honestly, how could it be any other way?

    The veteran journalist, who has co-anchored the NBC morning staple since 2012, is still in Tucson as authorities continue their urgent hunt for her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie. Fifteen days have now passed since Nancy was last seen, and with each passing hour, the worry only deepens.

    As speculation inevitably swirled about what this absence might mean for Savannah’s future at the network — particularly with her lucrative contract reportedly nearing its renewal window — those close to the situation say such talk feels painfully misplaced.

    To that end, an insider at NBC made it clear that right now, ratings and renewals are the furthest things from anyone’s mind. They told Page Six on Sunday:

    “The entire show and network is rallying together in support of our beloved colleague and friend as we navigate this unimaginable time.”

    That sentiment is apparently shared across the entire staff. Production teams, anchors, executives — all of them are said to be focused on one thing: giving Savannah the space to be a daughter first.

    The source said:

    “Everyone at Today is taking this day by day, and of course giving Savannah the grace, time and support she needs.”

    Behind the scenes, there is also a quiet vigil happening. Staffers are reportedly praying constantly for answers, for closure, for some break in a case that has grown more chilling by the day.

    In the meantime, former co-anchor Hoda Kotb has stepped back into the anchor seat this week. She has also thus far remained stateside rather than traveling to Milan to assist with coverage of the Winter Olympics, as did Savannah’s current co-anchor Craig Melvin.

    But for now, the question of contracts and careers feels almost trivial. What matters is a family in crisis, a daughter waiting for answers, and a network standing behind one of its own during an unimaginable time.

    Also present was Jason Kelce, the brother of Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce. The former Philadelphia Eagle either fell asleep or pretended to during the show, reports the Post. But by keeping his eyes closed, he missed some surprises: BuzzFeed notes that she debuted four new costumes for this final run of shows, while the Miami Herald reports that Florence Welch appeared on stage for “Florida,” her duet with Swift from her most recent album, The Tortured Poet’s Department.

    Savannah Guthrie is sharing her thoughts on Today co-host Hoda Kotb leaving the show in 2025.

    In a new interview with People, the NBC morning personality said she was “shocked but not surprised” to hear about Kotb’s decision to exit the show.

    “She and I have had many, many conversations about life and what does it mean in our hopes and our dreams, and I knew that 60 was a big moment and where she’s thinking a lot about just how she wants to spend the rest of her day. So I wasn’t surprised,” Guthrie told the publication.

    She continued, “But then when it happened, of course, I was happy for her because I think it’s so courageous and bold and amazing and this mode of confidence in herself and her bright future that she’s writing, and she’s writing it.”

    Guthrie noted that she is “inspired” by Kotb’s decision and added, “Of course, I’m also sad because I love her so much, and if I had it my way, we’d be together forever.”

    On the September 26 broadcast of the Today show, Kotb publicly announced she was departing the show after 17 years.

    In a separate interview with People, Kotb said the driving factor for her decision to quit the show was to spend more time with her two daughters, who are 7 and 5 years old.

    “There’s the guilt you carry because you can’t be 100% at work and 100% at home,” she said. “Something has to give if you want excellence. If you’re going to be excellent at work, something has to give at home. And if you want to be excellent at home, I mean excellent, and do all the things, something has to give at work. It can’t be equal.”

    Hoda Kotb’s shock announcement that she will be leaving Today after 17 years on the morning show has shone a light on the future of many of our favorite TV anchors, who are facing a critical time in their careers.

    As TV networks tighten their belts thanks to economic issues and low ratings, high-profile stars will see changes not only to their contracts but to their shows on the whole.

    Hoda wrote in a letter to staff on the show that she knew she was “making the right decision” to step away from Today, albeit a “painful one”.

    “They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you, and it’s time for me to leave the show,” she said in the letter. 

    She continued, “My broadcast career has been beyond meaningful; a new decade of my life lies ahead, and now my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie. I will miss you all desperately, but I’m ready and excited.”

    She will leave the show early next year, but co-host Savannah Guthrie remains as her contract will last another year.

    Another anchor with an uncertain future is MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, who reportedly makes a whopping $30 million a year, although her contract is under review.

    Rachel is a major drawcard for the network and has hosted her own show since 2008, but her $600,000 per episode salary may be cut next year. 

    “We have had a tremendous shake-up in how TV is delivered and received, and the business is going through a major struggle trying to retain and grow revenues,” Joe Peyronnin, a former television news executive, told the Wall Street Journal.

    Late-night talk shows are being slashed from five to four nights a week as the networks scramble to keep up with the changing television landscape. 

    ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and NBC’s Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon will no longer produce an episode each Friday. 

    While Jimmy Fallon is safe until 2028, with his contract extended until then, and Stephen signed on until 2026, Jimmy Kimmel told the LA Times that he may not re-sign after his contract ends in 2025.

    CBS already axed The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2023 after eight years on air. 

    According to Forbes, this speaks to a broader trend of cable and broadcast TV versus streaming; only 57% of households now subscribe to cable television, and only three networks averaged over one million viewers during prime time compared to 19 in 2013. Only 30% of US adults use an antenna for broadcast TV. 

    The beloved Good Morning America could see hosts George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts’s contracts in limbo after they end next year; they both currently make $25 million, but after Disney, who owns the ABC network, told the show to cut costs by $19 million, their future hangs in the balance.

    Over on CBS, Evening News star Norah O’Donnell was dealt a 50% pay cut by the network after her ratings had dropped by 25%, and she faces the chopping board after Paramount also deals with wide-scale layoffs to cut costs. 

    Clearly, the future of broadcast and cable TV is up in the air, and with it are the slew of beloved anchors sitting at the helm of some of television’s biggest shows.

    Nikki Glaser isn’t buying that Tom Brady had no idea he’d face backlash from his family over the roast!

    Netflix debuted The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady earlier this month. The no-holds-barred special featured some pretty brutal material about the former football player’s divorce from Gisele Bündchen — and even a few jabs about her romance with Joaquim Valente! Unsurprisingly, those jokes didn’t land too well with a few people, especially his ex-wife and kids! Gisele was upset about the whole ordeal. And Tom now says he regrets doing the roast since it “affected” the supermodel and their children! He said on The Pivot Podcast this week:

    “I loved when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way that it affected my kids. So, it’s the hardest part about the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn’t do that again because of the way it affected the people that I care about the most.”

    Seriously? Tom should have known his failed marriage with Gisele would be the main event at the roast! It’s one of the biggest stories in his life! He had to have known their divorce would come up and considered at some point that his ex-wife and kids wouldn’t be too happy with jokes! So this reaction from Brady is hard to believe! Even Nikki Glaser — who participated in the comedy event — doesn’t buy it!

    The 39-year-old comedian appeared on Today with Hoda & Jenna Wednesday to discuss the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers player’s regret for agreeing to the roast due to the family backlash. And she has THOUGHTS! On one hand, Nikki said she feels Tom maybe “didn’t consider the backlash from his family and how it would affect them.” But on the other hand, she knows someone as famous as Tom Brady “does not do anything without doing his research and knowing exactly what he’s getting into!” Nikki explained:

    “I think it’s kind of a thing you say after the fact, but it’s impossible to me he didn’t consider what could have happened. Because there is roast footage out there that you can watch and go, ‘They’re gonna go this hard.’”

    It’s true! This isn’t a new idea, there are tons of celeb roasts out there, and they always hit everyone where it hurts.

    However, she also has another theory! Part of her believes “no one’s ever said a bad thing to him in the past 30 years” due to his fame — and maybe that made him delusional enough not to think anyone would go as far as to mock his split from Gisele! Makes sense. But again, nothing tends to be off-limits with a roast — other than his kids. He should’ve known better! When Jenna Bush Hager asked if Nikki could tell Tom was “regretting” the special while it was happening, she replied:

    “I got a sense that maybe it was a little more than he had planned for. He hadn’t planned how to react, because you’ve kind of got to practice like, ‘What am I gonna do?’ and I think by midway through he had decided on the laughter he was gonna do.”

    At that same time, Nikki feels Tom was “kind of jarred” by everyone going there with the jokes:

    “The thing is, when they are producing these, they can’t take Tom in and go, ‘Hey, can we do jokes about this?’ because it would be too awkward to ask someone. So it’s kind of all just like, ‘We think we can go there, we think maybe don’t go here,’ so we all agreed not to talk about the kids but there wasn’t any specific guidelines of what to say and not to say.”

    If Tom truly didn’t know what he was getting into at the time, that is kind of on him! And he won’t make the mistake of agreeing to another roast again! Not unless he wants to face the wrath of Gisele! Watch Nikki’s chat with Jenna and Hoda Kotb (below):

    Hoda Kotb is opening up about the moment she found out she was going to be a mom!

    The “Today” host appeared on the latest episode of the “Just B with Bethenny Frankel” podcast and opened up about her adoption journey, which gave her daughters, Haley, 6, and Hope, 3.

    Kotb said ahead of welcoming her daughter Haley, she was afraid and ashamed to admit that she was hesitant to express her want to be a mother, because she felt it was too late.

    “I remember never saying out loud that I wanted kids, never, because it was too late,” she shared. “For girls that it’s too late for, you don’t say it because if you say it, you’re expressing something that you’re never going to get.”

    Hoda explained that shortly after realizing that it would never be too late for her, she kept seeing signs that reassured her that motherhood was still in the stars. So, she decided to go to the adoption agency and take the steps.

    “I filled out all the paperwork and did all the stuff that you do, and they’re like, ‘Okay, maybe a year, maybe six months, maybe five years, bye,’” she said.

    The “Making Space” host became emotional as she spoke about the moment when she found out that she would become a mother.

    “I was sitting there, and I was doing some phone call with some nutritionist about something and babbling on and on. My phone beeped, and I looked at it, and it said Ashley, and Ashley was the lady from my adoption agency, and she said, ‘If I ever text you, you need to call me back immediately,” she said. “I saw her name, I hung up the phone, I took a yellow pad out, and I wrote, ’11:55. This is the moment everything changes,’ I knew it,” she continued. “And I took a deep breath and dialed the number, and I said, ‘Ashley?’ and she said two words to me. She said, ‘She’s here.’”

    She continued, “I don’t know what birth feels like, and I bet it was amazing, but this was really close,” she said through tears. “I remember that feeling like it was yesterday.”

    In May, Hoda shared a series of sweet pictures featuring her daughters, whom she dedicated a sweet post to, in honour of Mother’s Day.

    “Happy mother’s day! Hopey and Haley— you made me what I had always dreamed of becoming— a mother. And to my mom— nothing was even possible without your love xoxo,” she wrote.

    In March, Kotb had to take an extended time away from “Today”, as Hope had a scary hospital stay. Since, the host has reported that her daughter’s condition has gotten better, though it was a bit challenging watching her 3-year-old spend time in the ICU.

    Viewers of NBC’s “Today” have noticed the absence of Hoda Kotb for the last week-plus, with the longtime anchor’s last live appearance on the show occurring on Monday, Feb. 17 (she did appear in the Feb. 20 episode, but in a pre-taped segment).

    During Wednesday’s episode, co-host Jenna Bush Hager sent a sweet shoutout to Kotb, revealing that she’s been off dealing with a personal issue.

    “Willie [Geist] is in for Hoda,” Bush Hager told viewers during the 10 a.m. hour of “Today”, reported People.

    Hoda Kotb, who was officially named co-anchor of Today in 2018, has been missing from her NBC morning news program since mid-February without any explanation. On Wednesday, her absence was finally addressed on-air and described as “a family health matter.”

    Craig Melvin, who was co-hosting the show alongside fellow anchor Sheinelle Jones and veterman weatherman Al Roker, told Today viewers: “As for Hoda—we know a lot of you have been wondering how she is doing. We can tell you that Hoda is okay. She has got a family health matter that she has been dealing with.”

    Melvin also offered an update on Kotb’s co-host Savannah Guthrie, sharing that she tested positive for COVID on Feb. 28 and left the Today desk that day after 7:30 a.m. ET. “Savannah—she is at home after a positive COVID test yesterday,” he explained. “We are wishing our friend a speedy recovery,” adding that “we look forward to seeing Hoda and Savannah back here at the desk very, very soon.”

    Speculation about the circumstances surrounding Kotb’s leave have persisted since her last on-air appearance alongside Jenna Bush Hager for their Today with Hoda and Jenna show. Kotb was last present for a President’s Day broadcast that was filmed prior to the holiday.     Guthrie and Kotb, who became the first pair of women to co-anchor the show over five years ago, both weighed in on Walters’ monumental impact on the news industry.

    “We’re not here without Barbara Walters knocking down that door and doing it when there was no precedent, there was no example, there was no representation of that path,” said Guthrie, who referred to dozens of notable women in journalism paying tribute to Walters during her final show on “The View.”

    “She did it, she blazed the trail like a pioneer.”

    Kotb added that two women anchoring a news program is “now totally normal” because of Walters.

    Kotb recalled entering a SoulCycle class when people in the class started to clap for her following her first show with Guthrie.

    “They go ‘what you and Savvanah did today, it was big, it was big,’” Kotb said.

    “And I told Savannah ‘Oh my God, it mattered.’ We didn’t realize in the moment that it did…”
