  • H&M Studio Holiday 2025 collection is my fave one yet, and I’m a die-hard fan

    Ask me for a (short) list of things I look forward to every November/December and it’d go: Christmas lights, pine-scented candles, and H&M Studio’s Holiday collection. H&M Studio Holiday 2025 is launching next week and it’s honestly my favourite drop yet – and I’m a die-hard fan.

    After the successful H&M x Glenn Martens collab sell out I didn’t think the high-street store would have anything left to give us, but party season is upon us, and H&M has never let us down in that arena before.

    While channelling the theatrical essence of the New Romantics – an era that was characterised by flamboyant, eccentric fashion and originated in the UK in the late ’70s/early ’80s – this line-up is actually super wearable.

    “The silhouettes are striking, and we play with volume, but nothing is too perfect or pretty. The collection acts as a complete wardrobe, leaving it to each person to define their own take on partywear,” said H&M Studio Collection Designer Kathrin Deutsch. For a fashion writer who’s intimidated by sequins (I know, make that make sense), this is music to my ears.

    Rather than the usual top-to-toe sequin looks you’d expect to see from a partywear launch, this one offers a more refined take. Think: a colour palette of black, deep brown and burgundy alongside neutrals, with less in-your-face-but-still-glamorous fabrics like taffeta, jacquard and mesh taking centre stage. Harking back to the AW25 runways, where Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani Privé and Schiaparelli were also influenced by the ’80s, it all makes perfect sense.

    So what to bookmark ahead of next week’s launch? There’s a couple of David Bowie-esque shirts I can’t stop thinking about, with oversized collars and pussybow ties, but I’m mostly drooling over the polka-dot mesh gown. With its cape back and ruffle neckline, there’s no denying it’ll be one of the most sought-after party dresses this year. If only I had a black tie event to wear it to…

  • Man shopping for suit can’t believe what wedding guest left in the pocket

    While shopping for suits, a man from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, found a beige jacket he liked, but what was in its pocket has left internet users in hysterics.

    The poster, Zach Carty, told Newsweek that he ended up not buying the suit because it was too small, and partly because he found a wedding speech in the jacket pocket.

    In a viral post shared on Reddit on Sunday, under the username u/zachismyname89, Carty holds up the folded piece of paper that he found hidden inside the suit jacket pocket while searching for the tag.

    The wedding toast is from two people named Val and Jack, which they wrote for their friend, Tony, and his wedding to his wife Ally.

    The toast recounts the friends’ years at college, first jobs in New York, as well as ski trips, traveling and game nights within the friendship group.

    “Someone bought, used, then returned a suit from H&M, and left their wedding toast in the pocket”, the Reddit caption says.

    “I get being tight on money, but an H&M suit is like $100, at least get it dry cleaned first”.

    Carty told Newsweek: “I had no idea what it had been through that night at the wedding so I didn’t want to risk getting something used and abused.

    “I only stumbled upon it because I was trying to find the size tag for the suit in the pockets since they are hidden in there sometimes.

    “Just thought it was funny that someone would cheap out on an already affordable H&M suit just to use it for one day and return it.”

    Newsweek reached out to H&M for comment.

    While used items may not appeal to all buyers, thrift stores and other second hand retailers are actually big in America. According to a report from Capital One Shopping, the U.S. secondhand market generated an estimated $53 billion in revenue in 2023 alone.

    There are over 25,000 resale, consignment, and not-for-profit resale shops in the U.S., and about 16-18 percent of Americans shop at thrift stores each year. Buying from thrift stores saves shoppers an average of $1,760 per year, the report said.

    The post quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 3,900 upvotes and 182 comments on the platform.

    One user, Siempre_maria, said: “I’m pretty sure my husband left both of our wedding vows in the front pocket of his suit, but it was definitely rented.”

    Lois_sanb0rn said: “Now I’m tempted to slip random terrible wedding speeches into formal wear pockets lol.”

    While OkCopy4627 added: “Jack got all the good lines.”

  • H&M’s New Designer Collab Is Full Of Modern Western Staples

    After a buzzy designer collaboration with Magda Butrym and a recent capsule wardrobe with model Mia Regan, H&M has announced another exciting partnership for fall. Taking a coveted spot on the retailer’s guest designer roster is Mexican designer Lorena Saravia and her namesake label. 

    Saravia launched her brand in 2010, and while she may not be a household name to the average H&M shopper, her distinct designs have earned her recognition — including a spot on Forbes Mexico’s 2025 list of the top 100 powerful women in the country.

    “Lorena Saravia has created an original vision of Mexican fashion, honoring the culture through collaboration with local artisans, while crafting a highly covetable, modern wardrobe defined by a bold, feminine spirit,” according to an H&M press release. The collaboration includes artisan-crafted, Western-inspired pieces spanning outerwear, matching sets, and even cowboy boots, all channeling a signature masculine-meets-feminine style. 

    “I come from a large, predominantly female family where each generation strives to empower the next,” Saravia said in the press release. “I see women as multidimensional — they are career-driven, powerful, and possess a kind of magic and an extraordinary strength. My hope is that every woman who wears my designs feels inspired and empowered.”

    I’m a fashion writer and this spring dress made me break my no-spend month

    Those heavy-duty jumper dresses you’ve had on rotation recently have no doubt done you and your wardrobe proud, but may we present their next of kin: spring dresses. Do-it-all silhouettes that’ll bridge the gap before it’s time to whip out those much-loved summer dresses, spring frocks are actually much more of a wardrobe essential than you might have thought.

    If you’re someone who looks to easy, throw-on outfits throughout the warmer months (who can blame you after a season of layering?), then staples like jeans, knitwear, blazers and shirts will likely no longer suffice. Spring dresses, however, are something you should make room for.

    One such dress that hits the transitional dressing criteria, and is already selling out, is H&M’s tie-back rib-knit dress. A long-sleeved ribbed maxi rendered in a creamy white hue, it adheres to all the SS24 trends – hello, sheer whites – and then some, plus it’s warm enough to forgo tights (finally) yet still super floaty. We picture it with a pair of chunky sandals and an oversized shoulder bag.

    Elsewhere, it seems that denim is no longer reserved for your best jeans. We’ve fallen in love with the denim dresses spotted at Marks & Spencer, Nobody’s Child and Aligne, and plan to wear them with cowboy boots all season long.

    How we chose the best spring dresses

    Our top tip: look for styles with long sleeves and a short hemline, or sleeveless midi/maxi styles (or vice versa). This is much less of a shock to the system after a few months of covering up entirely, as you’ll only be exposing one area of your skin, and creates a nice temperature regulation when the weather can’t make its mind up. All of the dresses we’ve picked below tick that box, and can easily be layered with a trench coat should we all be fooled by a ‘false spring’.

    When I first moved to New York in my early twenties, it was as if I had suddenly gone from experiencing my life at standard speed and suddenly switched it into fast forward mode. To distill them to a singular idea, it usually revolves around choices I made that now don’t feel true to who I am or my personal style. I don’t regret them per se, we learn by making mistakes, after all! But, I do wince a little bit when I think about the money spent on things that these days wouldn’t have me looking twice.

    We can all agree Jennifer Aniston has been serving Pinterest-worthy looks since the ’90s. Now in her 50s, Aniston has cemented her signature style as unfussy, chic, and thankfully for us, totally copy-able. Although I’m in my 20s, I find myself and my peers looking to Aniston’s paparazzi photos for fashion inspiration. Most recently, she’s been seen in some especially easy to recreate looks, hence the inspiration for this story. The stunning asymmetric Bottega Veneta midi dress she wore on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon paired with the strappy Saint Laurent heels is one ensemble I’d like to steal for myself. It’s basically the epitome of how to nail the little black dress look. In addition to press appearances, she has proven that her street style is attention-worthy as well.
