    Ingredient Notes

    • Hawaiian Rolls: Hawaiian rolls bring a touch of sweetness, but any soft dinner roll work. Leave them connected for simple assembly.
    • Deli Ham: Choose thinly sliced black forest or honey deli ham. You could even try using pulled ham.
    • Cheese: We love Swiss cheese with ham but change the cheese and try cheddar cheese or pepper jack.
    • Buttery Topping: The topping is what really makes these stand out, so don’t skip it. Onion powder and be used in place of dried minced onion.

    Variations

    • Swiss cheese can be swapped for provolone, pepper jack, Havarti, or mozzarella.
    • Use everything bagel seasoning instead of poppy seeds and onions.
    • Add thin tomato slices or pickles after baking for a fresh, bright finish.

    How to Make Ham and Cheese Sliders

    1. Slice the rolls horizontally and layer ham and cheese and add the tops.
    2. Mix the seasoned butter and brush it over the sliders (full recipe below).
    3. Bake until warm, melty, and golden.

    • Loosely tent with foil near the end if the tops brown too fast.
    • Slice with a sharp serrated knife to keep the layers neat.
    • For crispier bottoms, warm the baking dish before adding the sliders.
    • Assemble ahead, cover well, and chill up to 24 hours before baking.
    • Freeze unbaked sliders and bake straight from frozen with a few extra minutes.

    Storage & Leftovers

    • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat at 325°F in the oven so the rolls don’t get soggy.
    • You can freeze sliders baked or unbaked for up to 6 months. Wrap well and thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F.

    • In a small bowl combine 4 tablespoons melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and dried onion flakes.

    • Cut the rolls in half, separating the top and bottom. If they are attached you don’t need to separate each roll.

    • Brush the inside of the rolls with the remaining 2 tablespoons butter.

    • Place the bottom of the rolls in a baking dish. Layer a slice of folded ham on each roll and top with cheese slices.

    • Place the top half of the rolls on the cheese and gently brush the butter mixture overtop.

    • Bake uncovered for about 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the tops are lightly browned.

    • Serve warm and enjoy.

    • Ham: I use thinly sliced deli ham in this recipe (1 slice per sandwich). You can add more ham to make heartier sandwiches. Our favorite choices are honey ham or black forest ham but any variety will work.
    • Topping: If you don’t have minced onion, substitute a little bit of onion powder or garlic powder. You can skip the poppy seeds if you don’t have any.
    • Seasoning: Skip the minced onion and poppy seeds and sprinkle in some everything bagel seasoning instead.
    • Leftovers: Leftovers will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4 days or in the freezer for 6 months.

    Ingredients for Pizza Sliders

    Rolls: I use Hawaiian sweet rolls for these (and other slider recipes too), but any slider buns or dinner rolls will work.

    Pepperoni: For bite-size pieces, use mini pepperoni or cut larger slices into halves or quarters.

    Cheese: Mozzarella gives a perfect cheese pull and has a mild creamy flavor but feel free to use your favorites.

    Pizza Sauce: Use your favorite variety of pizza sauce or make homemade pizza sauce using canned crushed tomatoes (it’s easy, I promise!). Marinara sauce can be used in place.

    Topping: Melted garlic butter and a little bit of parmesan keep the sliders soft and adds flavor. Stir in a little Italian seasoning if you’d like.

    Filling Variations

    • Add your favorite pizza toppings. Some of my favorites include chopped black olives, onions, green chiles, jalapenos, or sliced mushrooms.
    • Swap out the pepperoni for ham, crumbled bacon, Italian sausage, leftover ground beef, or pulled pork.
    • Mix in some red pepper flakes into the melted butter for a pop of color and heat.

    How to Make Pizza Sliders

    1. Cut rolls horizontally and spread pizza sauce over the bottom halves of each roll (recipe below).
    2. Top with your fave toppings and cheese.
    3. Top with the rolls and brush with the garlic butter parm topping. Bake until golden.

    Save time and pre-make these pizza sliders. Once prepped, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Bake as directed.

    Storing Leftovers

    Keep leftover pizza sliders in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Eat them cold or reheat them by covering them in foil in the air fryer or oven, or try putting them in the microwave.

    Freeze cooled sliders by wrapping them in plastic wrap and storing them in a zippered freezer bag.

    If freezing before cooking, prep up to step 6 and freeze on a baking sheet. Once frozen, wrap in plastic wrap and transfer to a zippered bag to store. To bake, let them thaw overnight in the refrigerator, brush with melted butter topping and bake following the recipe.

    • In a small bowl, combine melted butter, dried parsley, onion powder, and garlic powder. Set aside.

    • Cut the rolls in half, separating the top and bottom. Spread ½ cup pizza sauce over the bottom half of the rolls.

    • Top with pepperoni slices, mozzarella cheese, 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, and oregano.

    • Place the top half of the rolls on the cheese and gently brush the butter mixture overtop. Sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese.

    Ingredients for Pulled Pork Sliders

    • Pork – Look for pork shoulder or pork butt with lots of marbling for the best flavor. Bone-in cuts are also great choices. Ready-made pulled pork is perfect if time is short!
    • Sauce – Use any dark cola (root beer or Coke) and your favorite BBQ sauce – any variety works.
    • Rolls – Soft Hawaiian rolls are slightly sweet, so they’re perfect for these BBQ pork sliders. You can also use brioche, dinner rolls, or slider buns.
    • Coleslaw – Homemade coleslaw is easy to make with a bag of slaw mix. You can substitute

    How to Make Pulled Pork Sliders

    Let the slow cooker do all the work, just prep, set, and forget!

    1. Season the pork (recipe below) and place in a slow cooker with cola. Cook until fork tender.
    2. Shred the pork with two forks and mix in BBQ sauce and some of the cooking juices.
    3. Toast the rolls and add pulled pork and coleslaw.

      Tips for Juicy Pulled Pork

      • Use a well-marbled pork shoulder (skip the pork tenderloin; it’s too lean for this recipe).
      • For the best, juiciest pulled pork, avoid opening the lid during cooking.
      • Remove the pork from the juices before shredding. Some cuts of pork can produce more liquid than you need.

      Pulled Pork Sliders

      Easy to make and easy to assemble, these pull-apart sliders are perfect for a crowd!

      Prep Time 20 minutes

      Cook Time 4 hours 30 minutes

      Total Time 4 hours 50 minutes

      To Make the Pork

      • For pre-made pulled pork, heat according to package directions.

      • For homemade pulled pork, rub the pork with salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper.

      • Add the cola to the bottom of a 4qt slow cooker and place the pork in the slow cooker.

      • Cook on high 4-5 hours or on low 7-8 hours or until fork tender.

      • Transfer the the pork to a large bowl and transfer the juices to a separate bowl.

      • Shred the pork using two forks and discard any large pieces of fat. Add the pork back to the slow cooker and add ½ cup barbecue sauce. Slowly drizzle the reserved juices from the slow cooker into the pork as needed for moisture. Mix well.

      • Cover and cook on high for an additional 30-60 minutes (optional).

      To Prepare the Coleslaw

      • Combine mayonnaise, cider vinegar, celery seeds, sugar and salt in a medium bowl.

      • Add coleslaw mix and toss well to combine. Refrigerate until serving.

      To Assemble the Sliders

      • Using a serrated knife, cut the rolls in half (horizontally) without separating the rolls.

      • Spread the garlic butter onto the bottom of the rolls and if using cheese, add the cheese to the top of the rolls. Broil until lightly browned.

      • Divide the slaw over the bottom of the rolls, top with pulled pork, and drizzle with additional BBQ sauce if desired. Add the top of the rolls and serve.

      While this recipe makes 12 sliders, you will likely have enough pork to make up to 24 sliders. Leftover pulled pork can be refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 4 months.
      Leftover pulled pork should be stored separately from the buns and coleslaw.
      Leftovers are great on mac and cheese, as sliders, or on nachos.
