  • Please Don’t Bring The Initial Necklace Back

Please Don’t Bring The Initial Necklace Back

Do you remember a few years ago when everyone was wearing their gigantic Anthropologie initial necklaces? You could see the emboldened Scarlet Letter from a mile away. Everyone who was anyone had one…but quickly, they cycled out of style. Mine still remains in my archives, collecting dust as a relic in my jewelry cabinet.

Every two years or so, there’s a new form of the Anthropologie initial necklace that surfaces. Suddenly, we are all
super proud of our initials. Since my name is essentially pronounced like a letter, I’m wearing my name loud and proud.

There was the monogram trend that went hand-in-hand with Lily Pulitzer and Vineyard Vines. Your initials emblazoned on any surface: sheets, towels, bags, and of course, necklaces.

Yes, the trend may die but the idea remains the same. And look I get it, an initial necklace
seemingly should never go out of style…because it’s an homage to your name. However, we tend to get overzealous with trends…and these initial necklaces are far from simple.

Which is why I cringed internally when I saw Hailey Bieber donning a diamond-encrusted, bubble-letter, initial necklace. I knew what was coming. I got war flashbacks to girls flocking the necklace stand at Anthro. Going from store to store just to find their initials. Chills.

What is the Hailey Bieber Initial Necklace, you ask?

Hailey is a minimalist in her style – often layering thin gold bangles with chains and simple diamonds. Which is what made this necklace stand out in the first place. She’s now accessorizing her cool “It Girl” style with a huge necklace. But doesn’t it also kind of remind you of a chain a football player would wear pregame?

Bieber isn’t known for her endzone celebrations, however. She’s known for her trends and her fashion (and also her husband). And, actually, she designed this herself.

Alex Moss, a New York-based jewelry designer whose brand has skyrocketed since his 2020 opening, is the genius behind the design. He’s crafted pieces for A$AP Rocky and Drake, but when Hailey came to Moss for her design – it wasn’t even a glema in his eye yet.
    He says,

“I have to give Hailey all the credit for the idea of the B,” explains the jeweler. “She told me her vision of a bubble letter; I thought of it like an inflatable birthday balloon.”

And that’s not all. Alex Moss then proceeded to design a similar styled “J” ring that Hailey often sports. The same bubble letters, the same diamonds, everything.

I can already see it now: jewelry brand after jewelry brand mass producing copies of Hailey’s initial necklace…because anything Hailey touches turns into a sell-out trend. In fact, when you Google “Hailey Bieber initial necklace”, there are already a few dupes on the market.

But I’m here to be your voice of reason.
You don’t need the gaudy initial necklace just because Hailey has it. Please.

Look, I’ll speak for myself to make it make sense: I don’t know how to style this necklace to make it work for everyday wear. It’s ginormous, gargantuan, capacious, sizable, ample, tremendous, and astronomic. It takes up half of Hailey’s chest. You can barely see what she’s wearing past that huge piece.

It’s good for Hailey Bieber, but maybe not so doable for the non-Nepo Babies like us.

Timeless Initial Necklaces That Aren’t Hailey’s

I know we all want to be as glamorous as Hailey, but sometimes less is more…especially when you can’t afford the real deal Alex Moss necklace that she sports. And, if you purchase something a bit more muted, you’re guaranteed a timeless piece that won’t make you cringe in a few months time.

If you’re looking for an initial necklace revival, here are a few of my fave unostentatious picks:

Brook and York Mackenzie Birthstone Initial PendantI love this because it’s wholeheartedly you. Both your birthstone and your initial stamp will give you something that no one else has. Plus, I love how dainty it is.

Kendra Scott Inline Initial NecklaceUnique, but not taking away from your outfit. This will give you something different that you can easily layer with other necklaces.

Kendra Scott Diamond Letter Initial NecklaceDiamonds are a girl’s best friend…and if you liked the sparkle from Hailey’s necklace, this will give you a nice fix without overdoing it.

Abbott Lyon Double Initial Crystal NecklaceSomething different, yet still fun – having both of your initials overlapping. It’s classy and I haven’t seen many people wearing it yet. A bonus.

Abbott Lyon Initial NecklaceOne of my favorites because of its simplicity…yet something about the font and design makes it simply singular.

  • Quiet Luxury Has Gone Too Far: Why I Won’t Be Wearing Boat Shoes (But You Should?)

Quiet Luxury Has Gone Too Far: Why I Won’t Be Wearing Boat Shoes (But You Should?)

We’ve reached peak quiet luxury. Maybe that happened quickly, when influencers flooded the TL with that stunningly resilient trend striving to convince you that all you need to look like you stepped out of Succession was .. Zara? But now, with Stealth-Wealth and Recessioncore still topics of major interest, strange sartorial ephemera of the rich are emerging as piecemeal trends.

From tennis bracelets (and tennis, but that’s thanks to Challengers) to Van Cleef necklaces, it’s the details that become the most unlikely trends. But it’s all about how you wear them. When paired with Gen Z’s Y2K style, they become emblematic. When paired with a Zara set on a West Village girl, she’s taking it seriously.

But you’re not real if you’ve seen what I’ve seen: an army of Prep school teenagers carelessly tossing on jewelry that costs as much as their private school tuition merely to accessorize their school uniforms. And what shoes did they wear with those Spence skirts and Dalton blazers? Boat shoes, of course.

It’s an evil convergence. Prep’s stubborn return to the zeitgeist — Rowing Blazers, I’ll never forgive you — and Sofia Richie’s impact on the skyrocketing interest in Stealth-Wealth. This means people are hungrier than ever to take a peek into the lives of the rich — then steal into their walk-in closets as big as a football field and try on their clothes.

    The Sofia Richie effect

It’s been a year since the iconic Richie-Grainge wedding that sparked the Gen Z obsession with old money. Since that year, we’ve slowly been creeping into territory that sends a chill down my spine.

At first I thought it was just one more microtrend. However, I was soon proven so wrong. Instead of moving on, people everywhere made Sofia Richie their style icon. For good reason — she’s a Virgo, her taste is impeccable. But just like fellow nepo-baby Hailey Baldwin-Bieber’s wedding, the stylish ceremony sparked a chain reaction I never could have predicted.

Let’s use Hailey as a case study. After she wore Nike Air Force Ones to her reception, the shoe was ubiquitous. Sorority houses didn’t know peace for years. And it didn’t stop there. Signature pieces of Hailey’s off-duty style became biblical references. Her leather jackets, baggy jeans, and Clean Look vibe were everywhere.

But once a Supreme dies, a new queen must take her place. Sofia Richie answered the call.

While her so-called “old money” looks are actually new — new and custom Chanel, she’s become the face of Stealth-Wealth. It’s worth mentioning that Sofia Richie is a nepo baby whose money and prestige comes from her father, Black pop singer Lionel Richie. She’s not the old money heiress this trend is supposed to harken back to — which, to me, feels subversive.

Nevertheless, the masses are eating it up. Sofia’s transformation from trendy party girl to Stealth-Wealth wife and mother is inspiring to all of us. Though most will never grace the rooms with those who are decked out in Loro Piana and Brunello, we can wear a cashmere (blend) sweater and pretend.

This summer, the Stealth-Wealth status symbol is a surprising one: the boat shoe.

    Why boat shoes?

Think about it: what says privilege like owning a boat and constantly sailing or a lake or on the sea? Boat shoes hint at an old-money lifestyle. They say you’re always prepared to be onboard a sailboat, yacht or sloop, that you have a tight jaw, and frequent clubs and restaurants that don’t allow sneakers, and you went to a prep school that has a biz-caz dress code.

I can tick the last box, which is why this trend makes me physically ill. At the sight of boat shoes — Sperry topsiders in particular — I’m transported back to high school. And no one wants that.

I can almost see the hoard of preppy kids in salmon garb and monogrammed backpacks, with their Sperrys as the cherry on top of their Brooks Brothers and Vineyard Vines outfit combinations.

Now, the fashionable set have taken the shoe over. Pairing them with trendy prep-inspired brands like Rowing Blazers and Aime Leon Dore, they’re taking back Prep.

Unlike hipster yuppies who took over Williamsburg and Portland in 2013, this isn’t playfully-ironic. It’s serious. You’ll see boat shoes with summer dresses, Gen Z oversized denim and carpenter pants. What an unlikely pairing — workwear and Prep, the opposite of workwear. Talk about high-low juxtaposition.

How to style boat shoes for summer?

If you’re planning on styling boat shoes for the summer, keep this in mind. Styling boat shoes correctly means achieving a balance between embracing new-age Prep without looking like a Prep school dweeb.

Do not go full quiet luxury with them. Put down the striped sweater and definitely don’t drape it around your shoulder. You’ll look like you’re cosplaying as someone in an ivy league a cappella group.

Instead, pair unexpected styles and aesthetics with boat shoes. They’re this summer’s cowboy boot. You’ll see them with flowy white maxi skirts and threadbare vintage tees. You’ll see them with ripped denim and oversized pants. You’ll definitely see them at the US Open, but you’ll also see them in the club. Don’t believe me? If the office siren aesthetic made it to the club, so will this.

The one benefit of this trend: unlike many other microtrends, boat shoes are usually made to be worn to death. They’re practical, comfortable, and easy to slip on while still being dressy. They’re a less casual option of Birkenstock Bostons and a counterpart to the loafer trend. No wonder Gen Z-loved brands like Miu Miu made their own and Saks is selling their distressed leather boat shoes for $925 a pair! Outrageous.

As they grow more high fashion, it’s a clear sign that boat shoes are here to stay. But they’re not your grandmother’s boat shoes, not my prep-school nightmare. They’re something else entirely. It just depends how you style them.

Whether you’re in love with quiet luxury or eager to experiment with the next trend, you can wear boat shoes with any aesthetic. I just won’t be joining you. God forbid, if LL Bean boots are in for fall, I’m abandoning everything and giving it all up for a beige capsule wardrobe.

For now, I’ll watch timidly as everyone dons a shoe I disavowed in my youth — and they’ll look good while doing it.

  • Selena Gomez Had This Subtle Response to Justin & Hailey Bieber’s Pregnancy News

Selena Gomez Had This Subtle Response to Justin & Hailey Bieber’s Pregnancy News

Oh, baby. Selena Gomez’s response to Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber’s pregnancy announcement was all about preserving her peace. Just days before the Biebers announced they were expecting their first child together, the “Lose You to Love Me” singer made the decision to disable her comments on social media to avoid any unnecessary drama.

The Only Murders in the Building star explained her decision in an interview with Today’s Hoda Kotb at a mental health summit put together by her Rare Beauty Impact Fund. “I disabled all my comments on my photos on Instagram for only my friends. So I think I’ve created boundaries to help me,” Selena told Kotb.

“Obviously people fussed about it. They fuss about everything,” the 31-year-old said. Despite the response from fans, Selena insisted that it was the right decision for herself. “I felt empowered by doing that, by saying, ‘This is just for me,’” she added.

This isn’t the first time the Rare Beauty founder is making a change to her social media habits. She has taken multiple social media breaks throughout the years, and during a panel at the TIME100 Summit in April 2024, she opened up about her past decision to let her team manage all of her posts and comments on Instagram. “I took four years off of Instagram, and I let my team post for me for those years,” she shared at the time. “I felt like it was the most rewarding gift I gave myself.”

During her break, Selena remembers being “more present.” She explained, “I was happier. I would actually get real phone calls [from] people telling me about their story, and I could actually hear it instead of going, ‘Oh, I already know what you did today.’ It’s more human.”

As the world’s most-followed woman on Instagram, it makes complete sense for Selena to set healthy boundaries around social media—and that’s not even considering the potential drama from Justin and Hailey Bieber‘s recent announcement. The couple, who have been together since 2018, revealed they were expecting their first child together in a heartfelt post to social media on May 9, 2024. While a bundle of joy is typically a reason to celebrate, the rumored feud between Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber was bound to have some social media users spreading hate instead.

As fans of Bieber and Gomez know, the pair had an on-again, off-again relationship that spanned several years. Their final breakup took place around March 2018, but it wasn’t long before Bieber moved on with Hailey Baldwin (now Bieber.) The pair had briefly dated in the past, and officially got back together in May 2018. The couple then got engaged in July 2018, just a few weeks after rekindling their romance. They went on to get married in a civil ceremony in New York City in September 2018. A year later, the Biebers had a larger religious ceremony with family and friends in South Carolina.

Their recent post to Instagram also revealed that they had a vow renewal in Hawaii ahead of their pregnancy announcement. In footage posted to social media, the Biebers can be seen standing at the altar again. Hailey wore a white lace Saint Laurent dress, which showed off her growing baby bump, along with a matching veil.

The pair have always been candid about their desire to have children. “We always knew that we were aligned on what we wanted in our future,” Hailey told ELLE in 2021. “We had talked about wanting to be married young and having a family young and building a life. Even before we knew we wanted to be with each other.” Now, it seems that dream is finally coming true.

  • Hailey Bieber is pregnant, expecting her first child with Justin Bieber

Hailey Bieber is pregnant, expecting her first child with Justin Bieber

Hailey Bieber is pregnant! The model and skincare mogul is expecting her first child with Justin Bieber, her husband of five years.

Hailey posted a sweet announcement to Instagram featuring a photo and video shoot of the couple embracing and clutching her teeny-tiny bump. For the announcement, the mum-to-be wore a lace dress and a lace scarf on her head, while Justin wore a jacket and backwards baseball cap.

    Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

In an interview with the Sunday Times in 2023, Hailey admitted that she “wants kids so bad” but is worried about raising them in the public eye. “I literally cry about this all the time,” she said, per People. “I get scared. It’s enough that people say things about my husband or my friends. I can’t imagine having to confront people saying things about a child.”

She continued, “We can only do the best we can to raise them. As long as they feel loved and safe.”

Fans began speculating that Hailey was pregnant after the couple skipped the Met Gala 2024, pointing to other “clues” such as Hailey’s oversize jacket at Coachella back in April. The starlet has also been absent from the spotlight in recent weeks; both Hailey and her beau are usually papped around L.A. or NYC, her in a midriff-baring crop top, him in pants several sizes too large.

Others pointed to the cryptic Instagram message reposted by Hailey’s dad, actor Stephen Baldwin, in which a man asks followers to “pray” for the couple, as evidence that she was farther along than we thought. At the time, the post led to breakup rumors, which the couple quickly shut down.

Another eyebrow-raising “clue”: Justin performed his song “Baby” in February 2024. The man was straight up dropping hints that Hailey Bieber is pregnant and the world was screaming “Bieber breakup!”

Now before you panic, no, the sight of her husband shirtless isn’t making Hailey sick. The term ‘I’m unwell’ has been coined in popular culture as also meaning ‘I don’t know how to process this.’

Sharing Hailey’s thoughts over on her heartthrob husband’s Instagram page, fans penned similar comments beneath the set of photos, writing: “You are the love of my life,” and “Hailey, is your husband single?”

Justin, 30, has been sporting a new appearance of late, rocking a full beard and shaggy beach blonde hair. The Canadian artist has also been seen wearing braces on his bottom row of teeth.

The couple’s Instagram posts come just days after Justin shared a candid clip of him and Hailey enjoying a romantic moment during a concert. The clip, which was originally captured by a fan, showed the ‘Yummy’ singer stroking his wife’s hair as they danced to live music.

  • Insights On 2024 Spring Fashion

    Insights On 2024 Spring Fashion

Once Fashion Week has come and gone, it’s time to start plotting our spring wardrobe. We’re in that weird transitional period when I never know if it’s going to feel like winter – or summer – when I step out the door. Thanks to global warming, spring no longer exists.

This weekend was filled with floods in the New York area. This had me scrolling through endless online fashion magazines and adding hundreds of dollars of clothing to my various shopping carts. I rarely hit purchase, but it’s nice to dream.

When it comes to spring 2024 fashion trends, I’d like to welcome back the 60s. Yes, Jackie O’s iconic style – hello tweed skirt suits – is trending. Shift dresses are on every rack and color blocking is back in a major way.

Much like the fashion trends of the 1960s, miniskirts are going to be huge spring and summer trends in 2024. Even better, skorts are going to be lifesavers as the weather heats up.

Fashion icons like Jacqueline Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn ruled the scene, and that’s pretty much cycling back. Mod styles like bright colors and minidresses will also reign this summer.

What I love about spring 2024 womenswear is that it’s hyper-feminine, well-tailored clothing. We’re straying from pants and denim in general, and more towards linens, tweeds, and lighter fabrics.

Let’s take a look at some of my favorite fashion trends for spring thus far:

    Skirt Suit Sets

I’ve always wanted to feel presidential-adjacent like Jackie O in her smart skirt suit sets a la Chanel. Her incandescent style has inspired generations – Gucci even named a purse after her! Now, the skirt suit is back in action and I’m loving it. Abercrombie is currently killing the game with this one.

    Miniskirts

Meet your new best friend: the miniskirt. Pair it with a denim jacket, a crop top, a turtleneck – however you want. Personally, the blazer-and-miniskirt corporate combo kills. This is going to be my go-to this spring.

    Play With The Waist

I’ve noticed a lot of drop-waist dresses, or dresses with belts below the hip-line. The goal is to create the illusion of an elongated torso, and it also just gives a fun, sophisticated flare. I like Zara for these 60s inspired dresses with fun waist detailing:

    Cowboy Boots

Like I’ve said, if Bella Hadid’s gone country, the world has gone country. All-denim fits are a trending moment, but I’d go with a pair of cowboy boots. Easy to dress up or dress down, these are super fashionable in any season.

    The White Dress

White is the color of the season! A scary color to favor if you’re prone to spillage and stains like me. But you’ll see tons of white dresses in stores and online this spring, I prefer linen. The Free People Sunshine Mini Dress is my favorite.

    Statement Trench Coat

If you’re looking for a go-to jacket, nothing gives sophistication quite like a long trench coat. You knew it was going to be a trend when Kylie Jenner launched Khy and created the statement leather trench coat.

    Midlengths

Toward the end of the 1960s, the world switched from miniskirts to midis and maxis. History sure repeats itself – as does fashion. We’re seeing the rise of midi skirts alongside the mini, because who said we can’t do both?

    Messy Boho Chic

The style that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson popularized – the grunge messy look is back – baby. Think oversized button downs, leather boho bags, rocker tees and basics. They will reign supreme this spring.

    Cheetah Girls

    Hailey and Justin Bieber

    BACKGRID

Yes, the mob wife aesthetic will remain a popular trend for the time being. That includes animal prints of all sorts: cheetah, leopard, you name it.

    Belts Are Back

Not so long ago it didn’t matter whether or not you were sporting a belt. Now, it’s yet again a fashion staple. No, we aren’t bringing back the classic Gucci double G belt that was all the rage in 2017. It’s more about statement belts, or just your average leather belt to pull together your outfit.

    Disco Never Died

Think chrome, sequins, chainlink, and all that glitters. Have some fun with a shiny dress or a pair of chrome pants!

We all know Hailey Bieber is known for her minimal, natural-looking, dewy makeup. You won’t typically find her with graphic liner or dramatic smokey eyes, but you will spot her with glossy, almost wet-looking lids. What would someone even use to achieve this look, you might be wondering? r.e.m. Beauty’s liquid eyeshadow, of course!

“I love this eye product. It’s really pigmented, but also if you want to just do a little bit, it’s not overpowering. A little goes a long way,” she explained to Vogue. The model is definitely right about the Midnight Shadows Lustrous Liquid Eyeshadow being highly pigmented. The liquid gel formula goes on so smooth and crease-free, and it’s also long-wearing and waterproof. Sounds like the perfect formula, right?

Hailey isn’t the only one who’s obsessed with the shadow that’s available for $16 a piece at Ulta and rembeauty.com. The product has gone viral on TikTok thanks to this video from @_vivabella (it’s reached over 1,000,000 views!). The caption reads, “I’m late to the r.e.m. beauty train but everything I’ve tried so far is TOP TIER.” The TikTokers lids are seriously a sight to behold. They’re glossy and shimmery all at once.

You’re going to want to get your hands on these liquid eyeshadows fast, since the product has sold out four times already.

And there’s no right way to apply the product. You can wear the Midnight Shadows Lustrous Liquid Eyeshadow by itself or on top of other shadows for a little extra sparkle. The brand recommends using your finger to tap the product onto your lids or blending it out with a brush.

As for the shade selection, let’s just say we want all of them in our makeup collection ASAP. Fembot, a sheer iridescent blue shift color, is the one that went viral on TikTok. But there are also striking shades like Milky Way, a rich teal, and Science Fair, a metallic blue-violet. Opt for Lab Coat, Comet, UFO or Telescope if you tend to prefer neutrals.

Whichever shade(s) you pick, you’re sure to get the most stunning, luminescent eyeshadow look. Shop a few of our top picks below, including the color that TikTokers are loving.

While at Rhode‘s launch party back in June 2022, I caught up with esthetician Biba De Sousa, who helped Hailey Bieber formula her first products. She told me: “You’re going to love this brand.” Apparently, Bieber and I have similar skin types, which is why I was especially excited to try her first-ever cleanser, Pineapple Refresh, before it launched on January 25.

It seems Bieber and I have sensitive skin that’s a bit acne-prone (hormonal, especially), with some texture issues and dryness. We also like simple skincare that’s uncomplicated and will leave our skin glowy and hydrated. I’ve been a fan of pretty much every Rhode release so far, though the Barrier Restore Cream ($30 at Rhode) continues to be my ride-or-die.

Over the weekend, the skincare founder took to TikTok to explain her newest launch. “It gives you the deepest cleanse,” she says about Pineapple Refresh. “It takes everything off in one go. It’s a really beautiful balmy texture that goes into this really nice lather.” She then goes on to wash her face — even rubbing the cleanser into her eyes. Her makeup is gone and her skin looks refreshed.

“My skin feels so bouncy and refreshed and so hydrated,” she adds.

I was surprised to see the cleanser’s promise of removing SPF, makeup, and dirt — even eye makeup. I was skeptical but like other Rhode products so far, it does what it promises. I have especially sensitive eyes and the formula didn’t sting or burn even when I rubbed it right onto my lids. My skin also doesn’t feel stripped after using it. But I do feel clean. Even better, I don’t feel like I need a second cleanse.

So, what’s in Pineapple Refresh that makes it work so well? There’s polyglutamic acid to hydrate and lock in moisture, green tea to calm and soothe skin, and pineapple enzyme to gently exfoliate. Don’t worry — it’s such a lightweight exfoliation, it won’t disrupt your moisture barrier.

There’s no way this isn’t going to sell out. And it’s out NOW. So hurry and grab it on Rhode’s website.

  • Hailey Bieber Just Wore the Shoe Color That Literally Transforms an Outfit

Hailey Bieber Just Wore the Shoe Color That Literally Transforms an Outfit

Something that I think about a lot is shoe-color trends and what shoe colors to wear with an outfit. Something tells me that Hailey Bieber might be similar to me in that respect, given the shoes she wore earlier this week to change up an outfit. Bieber is no stranger to trendy colors, including the trendiest of them all at the moment: red. And I think it’s worth discussing how she incorporated red into her outfit recently.

Last Sunday, Bieber was photographed wearing jeans, a striped Loewe polo top, and a leather blazer. She topped the look off with black The Row loafers. Two days later, Bieber wore almost the exact same outfit except instead of the blazer she wore a trench coat and instead of black loafers, she wore the same pair but in red.

As you’ll see below, the addition of the red loafers really punched up the outfit and made me do a double-take, even though I’m used to seeing red shoes on people at this point in the trend cycle. My advice is to do as Hailey does and keep swapping your black shoes for red ones. Keep scrolling to shop some of my favorite crimson footwear on the market right now.

  • The Elegant Color Every Celeb Will Be Wearing in 2024

The Elegant Color Every Celeb Will Be Wearing in 2024

The spring 2024 runway collections were stocked full of trends, from sophisticated takes on sheer to dramatically overstuffed handbags, but out of all of them, none made quite as impactful of a splash as oxblood (otherwise known as black cherry, merlot, or burgundy), the shade of red on every fashion person’s lips (and in their closets) right now. Found at Hermès, Gucci, Valentino, Versace, Tom Ford, and then some, the elegant yet moody hue is no doubt campaigning to be the color of the year.

Helping out on the campaign trail are celebs, who’ve come out in droves to support the rise of oxblood, wearing it on red carpets, to fashion shows, and on the streets of cities like New York and London. And since the spring collections haven’t even arrived in stores yet, I can only imagine that the best A-list burgundy looks are still to come. Scroll down to check out the chicest examples so far of celebs wearing 2024’s color of the year.

  • Hailey Bieber's “Sugar Plum Fairy” Look Is My Holiday Inspo, so I Re-Created It

Hailey Bieber's “Sugar Plum Fairy” Look Is My Holiday Inspo, so I Re-Created It

At this point, I’m pretty sure Hailey Bieber has influenced me more than any other celebrity (save for the other queen of TikTok, Sofia Richie Grainge). I’m constantly trying her favorite products and re-creating her makeup looks. Whether it’s the product she uses to get a perfect slicked-back bun or the vitamin C serum she swears by, I’m going to try it out for myself.

My most recent Bieber-influenced obsession is “Sugar Plum Fairy” makeup. This is the term she coined for a certain pink, shimmery makeup look she created on TikTok. Ever since I first saw it, I’ve been hooked. To me, it’s a fresh and unexpected take on holiday makeup.

That’s right. This year, instead of going with classic makeup elements like gold glitter and red lipstick, I’m choosing to go the Nutcracker route. Shimmery pink eye shadow, frosty rose-gold highlighter, and a shiny lip gloss will make me look like I came out of a Tchaikovsky dreamland. It’s only right that I end the year of balletcore beauty in this way. Keep scrolling to see my version of “Sugar Plum Fairy” makeup and the products I used to create it.

  • I Ranked the Celeb-Favorite Beauty Products I Was Influenced to Buy This Year

I Ranked the Celeb-Favorite Beauty Products I Was Influenced to Buy This Year

My name is Kaitlyn McLintock, and sometimes, I’m influenced by celebrities to buy things. There, I said it. As a beauty editor, it’s easy to blame it on my job and call it “research” or “due diligence.” After all, I can’t crown a certain product as the best without comparing it to all of the others on the market, right? That’s true, but if I’m being honest, it’s more than that. It’s also about the fact that I want to have the best beauty products at my disposal. If a celebrity, who has access to basically anything they want, uses or recommends something, I want it.

Let me be clear. I’m not necessarily looking for celebrity endorsements. I’m interested in the products they use without being compensated for using them or, at the very least, products they’ve created themselves. Say what you will about celebrity beauty brands, but if they’re slapping their name on something, they have to believe in it at least a little bit.

This year, I bought and tested a lot of celeb beauty products. I, however, only felt a few were worth the money, and I figured I’d share them with you. Ahead, see all the celeb-favorite beauty products I used this year, ranked from most to least favorite.

  • Kendall and Hailey Wore the Classic Sweater Trend Everyone's Buying From J.Crew

Kendall and Hailey Wore the Classic Sweater Trend Everyone's Buying From J.Crew

Now that we’re deep into December and have been wearing knitwear for at least a month now, it’s become clear what the emerging sweater trends are. Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber certainly agree on one in particular. That trend is Fair Isle sweaters. Jenner wore the classic après-ski style earlier this week in Aspen, and Bieber wore it upon her return to Los Angeles. Both of them wore Fair Isle sweaters by Khaite, who can largely be credited (along with Celine) for the returning popularity of the style this season.

Multicolored Fair Isle knitwear actually dates back to the early 19th century on an island near Scotland, when it was made for fisherman’s sweaters. Today, brands from low to high-end embrace the design each winter, but it’s become especially ubiquitous this season. One place I’ve come across multiple excellent examples of the trend is J.Crew, where its Fair Isle sweaters keep selling out. (Trust me—I’m on J.Crew.com a lot.) Scroll on to shop those along with Jenner’s and Bieber’s Khaite crew-neck and cardigan.

Hailey Bieber Shared Her Holiday Gift Guide—Her Beauty Recs Are Elite

Every year, celebrities offer us a peek into their holiday shopping lists by way of gift guides. Reliably, there’s always Oprah’s Favorite Things, Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop gift guide, and the Kardashian Jenner gift guide. Celebrity gift guides are typically pretty hit or miss—there might be some gems, but there are also often plenty out of touch gifts (like a Kourtney Kardashian recommended $2,500 energy sauna from this year’s Kar-Jenner list).

One of our favorite celeb-backed gift guides from this year? Hailey Bieber’s, which she shared on her Instagram story. Bieber is notoriously a beauty girl, and her gift guide did not disappoint. • Everyone Is Doing Sugar Plum Fairy Makeup, Even Hailey Bieber

Everyone Is Doing Sugar Plum Fairy Makeup, Even Hailey Bieber

All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, StyleCaster may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.

Is your go-to holiday makeup look the same as last year? If you always fall back on a red lip and black cat eye, listen up: Sugar Plum Fairy Makeup is here to help you switch it up this season. It’s inspired by the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker ballet. She’s sparkly and girly, with a pink dress and pretty pink makeup. It’s a bit like the “cold girl makeup” trend of the past few years.

Even Hailey Bieber is loving the look. “When I was 16 I was the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker…this is my 2023 version. My go-to vibe for the holiday season,” the former ballerina wrote on TikTok. She goes on to apply a little concealer under her eyes (probable her fave Kosas Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer). She blends it in with the Hourglass Veil Powder Brush ($65 at Sephora).

Next comes a very small amount of bronzer and much more blush on top. She applies the same pink pigment to her eyelids as well, and then adds a gloss on top. It looks like she applies highlighter next to the tops of her cheeks and her nose. According to Milk Makeup, she’s using the brand’s Dewy Cream Highlighter Stick in Lit ($24 at Sephora).

Her signature faux freckles come next with the Beaubble Berry Freckled Pen by B&Rudi and then a brown lip liner she blends in before applying her Rhode Peptide Lip Tint in Jelly Bean, which is currently sold out. She finishes her look with a few coats of mascara.

Of course, there are many takes on Sugar Plum Fairy makeup — not just from Bieber. We love the way @kaadijaa uses different shades of blush to make her cheeks glow.

We also love the pale pink lip on @asapabes.

You can really go for it with a ’90s-era shimmer lip to up the Sugar Plum Fairy factor. The possibilities are endless.

  • Hailey Bieber Just Endorsed Emi Jay's “Angelstick” for an A+ Slicked-Back Bun

Hailey Bieber Just Endorsed Emi Jay's “Angelstick” for an A+ Slicked-Back Bun

Here it is—the Angelstick Hair Smoothing Balm. It’s the first hairstyling product from the brand and is formulated to glide easily over the hair, smoothing texture and fly-aways. So, basically, it’s the perfect product one-and-done product to achieve a slicked-back look.

The best part is that it’s actually beneficial to the hair, unlike so many other styling products on the market. The formula contains hair-strengthening ingredients like castor seed oil, sunflower seed wax, murmuru butter, and vitamin E. Glide it over your hair, and not only will it style it, but it will moisturize and protect it too.

Leave it to Hailey Bieber to inspire us to buy yet another beauty product…

  • Hailey Bieber Already Wore the 2024 Trend We're Putting Big Money On

Hailey Bieber Already Wore the 2024 Trend We're Putting Big Money On

Anyone who’s visited Hailey Bieber’s Instagram feed during Halloween knows that the model and entrepreneur loves a good holiday, especially when it means dressing to a theme. And now that we’ve entered into December territory, it appears that her outfits have switched over to another holiday. “Christmas glitter,” she captioned an IG slideshow on Sunday, showcasing one of the chicest festive looks of the year thus far.

To celebrate the holiday season’s arrival, Bieber chose a long-sleeved minidress made of bone-colored satin from Khaite, which was paired with matching sparkly tights, a Prada top-handle bag, Balenciaga pumps, and a black velvet hair bow from Emi Jay. But while her accessories certainly finished off the look, her dress was no doubt the star of the show, especially given how on-trend satin is at the moment. After a buzzy showing on the spring/summer 2024 runways at Tory Burch, Altuzarra, Carven, Louis Vuitton, and more, the luxurious material was destined to become a major deal in the year ahead. Now that Bieber’s gone and stamped it with a Rhode Raspberry Jelly Peptide Lip Tinted kiss, any last doubts there were about the trend’s popularity in 2024 were squashed for good.

Below, check out Bieber’s on-trend holiday ‘fit and shop the fabric everyone will be talking about and wearing post NYE.
