  • Pop Out Then! Gypsy Rose Ditches Wig For Pixie Cut Flex And Fans Are Loving Her Fresh Look (PHOTO)

Gypsy Rose Blanchard recently dropped a selfie on the ‘gram that has her supporters showering her with love. It’s the first time she’s flexed her pixie cut on the timeline, though she previously revealed why she cut her hair.

Gypsy Rose Pops Out In New Look

Rose shared her wig-less look on Instagram on Monday (Jan. 19). She kept her caption brief, writing, “No wig today… just me. 🥰”

It’s not entirely new information that she cut her hair into a pixie style. According to PEOPLE, she revealed in late November that she wears wigs to cover the big chop she’s uncomfortable with. At the time she posted a selfie on Instagram Story wearing a white headband to respond to the question, “Why do you wear wigs?” She said the photo shows her natural hair, which she had to cut really short after two years of bleaching it blonde “completely fried it.”

“I don’t feel confident with short hair, so I normally wear a high-quality wig while my real hair grows back healthy. I’m giving my hair a fresh start so it can grow long again,” Gypsy Rose Blanchard wrote.

Months before, in April 2025, she shared a family photo with her husband, Ken Urker and daughter Aurora Raina in his arms. That photo showed her rocking a short bob, partially tucked behind her ears. It’s unclear how long Gypsy Rose plans to let her hair grow before ditching the wigs for good!

Social Media Hypes Up Blanchard’s Pixie Cut

Fans flocked to Gypsy Rose’s comment section after she shared the short look. In less than a day, she racked up nearly 29,000 likes and more than 1,800 comments. The photo drew lots of love, and other supporters voiced their support for her goal to reach inches.

craftycarlijean commented, “I love your hair like this, dare I say iconic??? You look amazing!”

@mrsmarcuscushman wrote, “Personally, I think you should grow your hair out. It’s beautiful and looks so healthy.”

“Much prefer this over your wigs, but you look great either way,” @lisajper said.

    “Loveeee this,” @ta_ren_ee added.

Meanwhile, in TSR’s comment section, the roommates also showed Gypsy a lil’ love on her natural look. Lyrica Anderson wrote, “Somebody said Gyp with the good grip 😂😂😂 Broooo the comments always have me rolling lololollol 😂”

@doseof.mya commented, “No shade this cut is actually very cute on her.”

    @steviebmoody joked, “Okay black queen.”

“Looking nice and healthy. Proud of her ❤️,” @hera_dwight said.

“She look like she cooks a good breakfast 🥞🍳🥓😍,” @therealeazyeconomicz wrote.

@iwearlipstick23 added, “This haircut looks good on her.”

“My girl done did another rebrand 😂,” @prettybrownin37 wrote.

@popiando said, “Gypsy has lived 5 lives at this point.”

Recap Of Blanchard’s Bombshell Love Life

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has undergone a rollercoaster of changes in her personal life since her early release from prison on December 28, 2023.

At the time she got out, Rose was married to Ryan Anderson. However, by March 28, she revealed that she was separating from Anderson. In her subsequent statement, she spoke about needing “time” to “find” herself.

However, by early April, reports surfaced of Rose kicking it with her ex-fiancé Ken Urker. She and Urker were briefly engaged in 2019 while she was imprisoned but split up shortly after. In their April link-up, the exes got matching tattoos while sightseeing in New Orleans.

Additionally, Rose officially filed for divorce on April 8 and requested a restraining order. In May, she opened up to PEOPLE about her “mature love” with Ken. Their pregnancy announcement followed in July with a couples photoshoot that included a glimpse at their sonogram.

  • 7 Months Out of Jail, Gypsy Rose Blanchard Announces Pregnancy – POPSUGAR Australia

7 Months Out of Jail, Gypsy Rose Blanchard Announces Pregnancy – POPSUGAR Australia

It’s an unusual story, but we’ve been obsessed with Gypsy Rose Blanchard ever since she was released from jail in December 2023. Blanchard became well-known due to her involvement in her mother Dee Dee’s murder, a true story also depicted in the series The Act, starring Joey King.

Now, at 32, Gypsy announced she was 11 weeks pregnant in a nine minute YouTube video on Tuesday, calling it a “blessing”. This news comes just three months after she filed for divorce from her then-husband Ryan Anderson.

In the video titled “I’m Pregnant, My Journey So Far” posted on Tuesday, July 9, Gypsy shared her excitement about the baby.

“I know the rumours have been flying around for quite some time now,” she started. “And I’m happy to announce that I am 11 weeks pregnant.”

“Ken and I are expecting our very first child come January of 2025,” she continued.

“This was not planned at all, it was completely unexpected, but we’re both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood.”

Gypsy and Ken, who first connected through the prison’s pen pal program, were engaged in 2018 but broke up in 2019. They got back together after her separation from Anderson, which happened after less than two years of marriage.

Her divorce from Anderson, whom she also met and married while serving her prison sentence, is still ongoing, but that isn’t stopping her from moving forward with her life.

Gypsy Rose on Becoming a Mother

Talking about her pregnancy journey so far, Gypsy shared that she’s experiencing symptoms like food cravings and mood swings. She also talked about her excitement for motherhood and the emotions that come with it.

“Suddenly, it’s not about you,” she said. “It’s not about anything other than the tiny little life that’s inside you, that you are now in charge of protecting.”

“That little tiny life is a baby, a little tiny human that’s yours, that you have to make sure you protect, you love, you take care of,” Gypsy said through tears. “All of the things I wished I could have had when I was little. … All of the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby.”

“I just want to be a good mother for my child, I want to be everything my mother wasn’t.”

The Story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Gypsy first made headlines in 2015 after her online boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, killed her mother. She pled guilty to second-degree murder and served seven years behind bars before her release in 2023.

The case gained international attention when it was revealed that Dee Dee had essentially kept her daughter prisoner, forcing her to use a wheelchair and feeding tube. Dee Dee had made Gypsy pretend for years that she was suffering from serious illnesses.

Investigators determined that Dee Dee had Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder where caregivers seek sympathy through the exaggerated or made-up illnesses of their children.

After her release, Gypsy has been embracing her newfound freedom, appearing in a documentary titled “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup” and building a strong social media presence.

    “I Found My Freedom”

However, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. Anderson has shared his side of the story on TikTok, detailing the breakdown of their marriage and accusing Gypsy of contacting him after their breakup.

There’s also some scepticism about her relationship with Ken, with some of her followers feeling she’s moving on too quickly.

She addressed the criticism in her YouTube video, saying: “I know that there are going to be people that feel like I’m not ready to be a mother and I just, I don’t know if anyone’s really ready to become a mother. I don’t know anybody that said, ‘OK, I’m ready. I’m doing this.’ I think, in my experience, everybody that I’ve ever talked to, they’re like, it just happened.”

“I found my freedom in a way that I never expected and I’m OK with that. Everything that has ever happened to me in my life suddenly doesn’t matter because it all led me to be who I am today and it all led me to this moment right here, right now and that’s a blessing to say that I made it,” she added.

  • Gypsy Rose Blanchard Is Pregnant!

    Gypsy Rose Blanchard Is Pregnant!

    Seriously, what a year for
Gypsy Rose Blanchard. What a success story. Since being released from prison on December 28, 2023 — only days before ringing in 2024 — she’s become a cultural phenomenon.

Blanchard spent seven years in jail after being convicted of second-degree murder for the death of her mother, Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. Blanchard conspired with then boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, to stab Dee Dee after finding out Gypsy Rose
didn’t have a lifelong illness, but was instead a victim of child abuse. These events inspired hit drama docus like The Act starring Joey King — seducing the world into the great labyrinth of Gypsy’s lore.

She went from inmate to attendee at star-studded events in mere months. By January 5, she was at seen at the red-carpet premiere for “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard” alongside her then husband, Ryan Anderson. From that moment on, she was doing podcast interviews, frequently making informative TikToks on what prison life was like, and even starring in her own reality show.

Now, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has announced she’s pregnant. But no, it’s not with her former husband, the aforementioned Anderson.

I’m sure you’re also wondering just how we got here — so let’s dive into the love life of Gypsy Rose and explain it all.

A Quick History Of Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Complicated Love Life

    Gypsy Boyfriend #1: Nick Godejohn

If you watched any of the Gypsy Rose documentaries, you’ll remember
Godejohn. Gypsy’s first BF, who began as a secret online romance and spilled into a torrid love affair that ended up with Dee Dee Blanchard dead. Godejohn is currently serving life in prison without the possibility of parole. The pair broke up quickly after their sentencing in 2019.

    Gypsy Boyfriend #2: Ken Urker

@gypsyblanchard.tiktok To watch the full video the YouTube link is in my bio💗 #gypsyroseblanchard #kenurker ♬ original sound – Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Gypsy quickly moved on to Ken Urker, followed by an engagement announcement by April 2019. Naturally, the couple met because Urker wrote to Blanchard in prison after seeing the HBO docu,
Mommy, Dead and Dearest — they wrote to one another for a year and a half before he popped the question.

Urker and Blanchard were on-again-off-again until a third Gypsy boyfriend hit the mix.

    Gypsy Boyfriend #3: Ryan Anderson

@theryananderson Thank you for the support…
    ♬ original sound – TheRyanAnderson

Can we even call him a boyfriend if she immediately marries him in 2022? Nonetheless, Urker was pushed out of the picture (briefly) when reports surfaced that Blanchard and Anderson had tied the knot. And, yes, this was another pen pal love story.

By March 2024, however, Blanchard and Anderson headed for
splitsville, sadly. Three months after Gypsy was released from prison.

So Who Is Gypsy Rose’s Baby-Daddy?

That would be Gypsy Boyfriend #2: Ken Urker. Gypsy Rose announced via TikTok today, July 9, 2024, that she’s due in January 2025.

Yes, the busy year for Gypsy Rose continues and I’m sure the world won’t have anything crazy whatsoever to say…

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has announced she’s pregnant and will welcome her first child into the world early next year.

“I know the rumours have been flying around for quite some time now, and I’m happy to announce that I am 11 weeks pregnant,” Blanchard, 32, said in a YouTube video shared on Tuesday, confirming that the dad is boyfriend Ken Urker.

She said the baby was “not planned,” but that she and Urker “are both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood.”

She also shared a series of maternity photos to Instagram at the same time, where the smiling couple showed off sonogram images and a tiny sweater to the camera.

Blanchard was released from prison in December 2023 after serving more than eight years behind bars for her role in the second-degree murder of her mother, Clauddine (Dee Dee) Blanchard.

In childhood, Dee Dee convinced her daughter and everyone else, including her doctors, that Blanchard had numerous chronic health problems, including leukemia, muscular dystrophy and brain damage.

It’s believed Dee Dee suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a mental health disorder that involves a caregiver projecting diagnoses or inducing symptoms in a dependent.

At 23, Blanchard asked her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn, whom she met online, to kill her mother. Godejohn fatally stabbed Dee Dee 17 times while she slept. He is serving life in prison for the 2015 crime.

Blanchard and Urker were previously in a relationship while she was behind bars, but called it quits in 2019. Blanchard started another relationship with pen pal Ryan Anderson while serving time, and the pair married while she was an inmate in 2022, but divorced in April of this year, just five months after she was released.

She confirmed she was back together with Urker shortly after filing for divorce from Anderson.

Well, That’s That! Gypsy Rose Denounces Her Celebrity Status: “I Am A Trauma Survivor”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is denouncing her celebrity status! In fact, she recently made it clear that she’s a “trauma survivor” and not an entertainer for the masses.

Since her early release from prison in December 2023, there has been much interest in the 32-year-old’s personal life. She had served seven out of her ten-year sentence for her role in orchestrating the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

Now, she’s making it clear that she’s a survivor on her own timing!

“Don’t ask me to relieve my trauma for your personal curiosity, don’t demand to know the answers to questions that have no relevance in your life, don’t expect me to have overcome my past on your time, don’t tell me about my mistakes and choices when I am who has to live with them on my conscious, don’t project what you want me to be because you find it more interesting,” she wrote on TikTok, per TMZ. “I am NOT a celebrity. I AM a trauma survivor who is healing from emotional, mental, and medical abuse.”

For context, days after being fresh out, Gypsy joined social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Because of her public profiles, thousands of people have been tracking her movements, from her relationship with husband Ryan Scott Anderson to her filing for divorce, rekindling with her ex-fiancée Ken Urker, and even her new nose job!

Gypsy Rose Says She’s No Advocate Despite Trying To Educate With Her Story

So, as far as the celebrity expectations and ongoing criticisms go, Gypsy Rose isn’t here for them.

“I have shared my story in the hopes it would educate about Munchausen by proxy and inspire other survivors, only to have my abuse be invalidated by content creators on social media who do not have any psychological education to back up their claims despite multiple psychiatrists specializing in MBP such as Dr. Marc Feldman who interviewed for 2017 HBO’s ‘Mommy Dead and Dearest,’ after reviewing my medical records obtained for my case. He had [a] high belief that my mother indeed had MBP,” she added.

According to the National Library of Medicine, Munchausen by proxy is a disorder that features the fabrication or induction of signs or symptoms of a disease. Throughout her childhood, Gypsy’s mom subjected her to medication use, confined her to a wheelchair, and forced the use of a feeding tube despite Rose not having a need for much of it.

At 32, Gypsy says she’s “HEALING” and doesn’t want anyone to “ask [her] to advocate.”

Gypsy Rose Thinks Taylor Swift Wrote This Song About HER! – Perez Hilton

Is Gypsy Rose Blanchard totally delusional? Or is she onto something??

The convicted murderer has become an unexpected celeb after being released from prison, getting invited onto talk shows and even hearing some shoutouts from celebs. But did she get the ultimate A-lister nod from Taylor Swift?!

According to sources close to Gypsy spilling to TMZ, girl believes Tay wrote a whole ass song about her! Yes, for real!

Apparently the huge Swiftie heard Fresh Out The Slammer on The Tortured Poets Department last month and freaked the eff out — because she was dead certain the track was all about her!

What’s her evidence? Well, first off she obviously is obviously “fresh out the slammer,” having famously gotten paroled in December after seven years in the clink. And the song is literally about a girl being released from prison and rushing into the arms of her lover. And that’s what happened to her — as she went “runnin’ back home to” husband Ryan Anderson. Though that obviously didn’t work out too well in the end…

Photos: Gypsy Posts Shocking Then-And-Now Pics From Munchausen Abuse Days

Per sources, lines like “camera flashes, welcome bashes” really spoke directly to Gypsy. She’s had paparazzi taking snaps since she got out, her family threw a party for her.

Is it really so crazy? Gypsy’s case is incredibly famous. Surely Tay must have heard about it. It’s certainly possible she used it for inspiration!

However, the song is only literally about prison. Figuratively it doesn’t really match up with Gypsy’s story. See, in the context of the rest of the album, the prison in the song has been interpreted as a metaphor for a relationship in which Tay didn’t feel free to be herself. Fans think it’s about the years she spent with Joe Alwyn as he wanted to stay out of the spotlight, which made her feel caged. That theory is supported by the TTPD epilogue poem, which seems to position Joe as the prison and rebound guy Matty Healy as a “tidal wave” — and then her clumsy rescuer who turns out not to be worthy of her. She writes:

“Out of the slammer and into a tidal wave / How gallant to save the empress from her gilded tower / Swinging a sword he could barely lift. / But loneliness struck at that fateful hour / Low hanging fruit on his wine stained lips / He never even scratched the surface of me / None of them did.”

If the experiences Tay was writing about were her breakup with Joe and fling with Matty, all that happened a year ago. Seems likely the songstress wrote about it all before Gypsy even got out.

As for whether Taylor even knows about Gypsy’s fandom? If she does, she hasn’t mentioned it. The sources say Miz Swift hasn’t reached out to the ex-con in any way. And Gypsy isn’t surprised, considering the controversy surrounding her case. She understands why Tay wouldn’t want to risk tainting her image like that.

What do YOU think, Perezcious readers? How likely is it Taylor Swift wrote a song about Gypsy Rose??

Gypsy Rose Blanchard talks divorce, nose job and death threats in new docuseries – National | Globalnews.ca

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is still learning to navigate life after prison, and she’s allowing audiences to follow along in an upcoming Lifetime docuseries detailing the ups and downs of her first few months after incarceration.

The new, eight-part docuseries, entitled Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, provides an inside look at how Blanchard has coped with fame and the media frenzy that surrounded her December prison release.

“You know my story. Now, let’s see what I do with my life,” Blanchard, 32, says in the trailer released Wednesday.

Branded by Lifetime as her “new life,” the series sees Blanchard file to divorce her husband, Ryan Anderson.

Blanchard and Anderson were married for two years. They wed in 2022 while Blanchard was serving time at the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri for the 2015 second-degree murder of her mother.

    Story continues below advertisement

“I just don’t know if I’m going to be happy in this marriage,” Blanchard says. “Eventually, I’m going to want a divorce.”

Anderson is seen crying in the trailer.

In a voiceover, Anderson declares, “I don’t want to lose my wife. I love her.”

The email you need for the day’s
top news stories from Canada and around the world.

Blanchard filed for divorce on April 8. She also asked a local court for a restraining order against her estranged husband.

Since then, Blanchard has confirmed she is dating her ex-fiancé, Ken Urker. The pair met while Blanchard was serving her prison sentence.

Blanchard will also undergo cosmetic surgery in the docuseries, namely a nose job to remove a “bump” on the bridge of her nose.

“I don’t want to be me,” Blanchard says in one clip.

In the trailer, Blanchard speculates whether she is at risk of encountering “dangerous people” because of the death threats she said she has received on social media.

Blanchard quickly grew a large social media following her prison release. Though she was initially active and engaging with her followers online, in March, she deleted several of her accounts in an effort to protect her privacy. In a since-deleted TikTok video, Blanchard said she felt “regret” for her post-prison press tour (to do with the release of another Lifetime docuseries called The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard) and apologized “to all the people that I offended with a lack of accountability.”

    Story continues below advertisement

The pressure she faces is obvious in the trailer, notably at its conclusion when she is told by her parole officer that she must return to Louisiana after someone accused her of making a threat against them.

Blanchard tells the camera, “I do not feel free.”

“I am in a different form of prison,” she says.

Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up premieres June 3 on Lifetime.

    Who is Gypsy Rose Blanchard?

Blanchard, an abuse victim, was originally handed a 10-year sentence after she encouraged her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to kill her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard in June 2015.

For years, Blanchard was led to believe by her mother that she had numerous serious diseases, including leukemia, muscular dystrophy and brain damage. Gypsy underwent numerous surgeries, used a wheelchair and an oxygen tank and often believed she was fighting for her life.

Gyspy’s medical conditions were fabricated by her mother, who it is now widely believed to have suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a mental health disorder that involves a caregiver projecting diagnoses or inducing symptoms in a dependent.

Blanchard was granted parole in September after serving eight years in prison.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard Shows Off Nose Job, Calls BF Ken Urker Her ‘Soulmate’, & Shares BIG Relationship Update! – Perez Hilton

Everything is looking up for Gypsy Rose Blanchard these days!

The 32-year-old walked the red carpet in Los Angeles on Wednesday before a For Your Consideration event meant to promote her upcoming Lifetime series Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup — and she showed off her new nose job in the process! The Munchausen by proxy victim rocked a red blazer while also giving fans a good look at her new blonde transformation (above)!

Despite the big night for her, she told ET on the red carpet that it wasn’t “date night” as her boyfriend Ken Urker did not travel with her. But they ARE about to start living closer to each other — proving she’s diving all in on this new romance! She spilled the tea:

“He lives in Dallas, and I live in Louisiana. … He’s actually going to be moving to Louisiana to be closer to me.”

    Wow! That’s big!

But just because they are taking steps to be closer to each other this quickly after rekindling things (remember, they were previously engaged in 2019), that does NOT mean they’re rushing into a marriage. Gypsy, who is in the process of getting divorced from her estranged husband Ryan Anderson, explained:

“I think with our history, we’ve always had a very close connection. Having that foundation has been essential to our reconnection and we’re just hopeful for what our future has in store. You know, I know that I’m going through a difficult time right now, and so I just really am doing the best I can with moving forward with my life.”

    She added:

“I’ve always said Ken was my soulmate. But I don’t want to move too fast because, you know, I want to pace myself. I don’t want to put expectations and make things too heavy.”

He’s “ALWAYS” been her “soulmate”?! Yeesh!! Poor Ryan really never stood a chance, did he? As for what the future holds for these two new lovebirds, the reality star mused:

“We’re just basically enjoying our time together and, you know, hopeful for what the future has.”

Cute! She’s got enough on her plate as she adjusts to living in the real world again. Taking it slow sounds smart! Elsewhere in the chat, the convicted murderer told the outlet that fans can expect to see a “very transparent” look at her life post-prison in her new show, too. She elaborated:

“I put it all on the table, I put my whole life for viewers to see who I am as an individual, my true self.”

She’s already starting to get more open with followers again, too! After a break from social media, the My Time To Stand author also returned to TikTok with a splash! Gypsy posted several glam videos of her getting ready for the event as well as some clips of herself at the beach. Ch-ch-check it out!

Of course, hand holding isn’t anything we haven’t seen from these two before. But they do keep claiming they’re JUST friends, but like we said, that’s getting harder to believe… We love our BBFs, but not THIS much! LOLz!

We’re sure Gypsy’s estranged husband Ryan Anderson won’t love seeing all this, as he reportedly blames Ken for his and Gypsy’s marriage ending!

Gypsy Rose Blanchard files for divorce from estranged husband – National | Globalnews.ca

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who spent eight years behind bars for her role in the murder of her abusive mother, has officially filed for divorce from Ryan Scott Anderson.

The ex-couple was married for less than two years. Blanchard and Anderson, both 37, wed in 2022 while Blanchard was serving time for second-degree murder at the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri.

Blanchard filed for divorce on Monday, though the grounds for filing are not yet public.

Before Monday, Blanchard announced on her personal Facebook page in March that she would be separating from Anderson.

The news came about three months after Blanchard’s prison release.

“People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately, my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents, down the bayou,” Blanchard wrote, according to People magazine. “I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart.”

Blanchard has otherwise not spoken publicly about the divorce.

Anderson, who is a special-education teacher from Louisiana, posted a TikTok video on Sunday thanking his social media followers for the “support and nice messages.”

“I’m just living my life, guys,” Anderson said, adding that he was at a friend’s house to watch WrestleMania.

The couple met after Anderson sent Blanchard a letter while she was an inmate at the Chillicothe Correctional Center.

In the days after announcing the separation, Blanchard was spotted in Louisiana getting matching tattoos with her ex-fiancé Ken Urker. The pair became engaged in 2018 while Blanchard was imprisoned, but called it off the following year.

After Blanchard’s prison release, she grew a large social media following and starred in a docuseries called The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose BlanchardLast month, Blanchard deleted several of her social media accounts in what she said was an effort to protect her privacy. In a since-deleted TikTok video, Blanchard said she felt “regret” for her post-prison press tour and apologized “to all the people that I offended with a lack of accountability.”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard reflects on past with mother, future with husband

    Who is Gypsy Rose Blanchard?

Blanchard, an abuse victim, was originally handed a 10-year sentence after she encouraged her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to kill her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, in June 2015.

For years, Blanchard was led to believe by her mother that she had numerous serious diseases, including leukemia, muscular dystrophy and brain damage. Gypsy underwent numerous surgeries, used a wheelchair and an oxygen tank and often believed she was fighting for her life.

After Gypsy’s arrest it revealed that Dee Dee had fabricated the list of health conditions. It is widely believed Dee Dee suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a mental health disorder that involves a caregiver projecting diagnoses or inducing symptoms in a dependent.

During her trial, Gypsy admitted that she asked Godejohn, who she met in 2012 on a Christian dating website, to kill her mother. Godejohn fatally stabbed Dee Dee 17 times while she slept in her home where she and Gypsy lived together. During the attack, Gypsy waited in the home’s bathroom with her ears covered.

Blanchard was granted parole in September after serving 85 per cent of her sentence.

Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison for the murder. He will not be granted parole.

  • Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Subtly Revealed The Real Reason For Her Divorce

Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Subtly Revealed The Real Reason For Her Divorce

They first connected while she was in prison, eventually marrying behind bars. But just three months after she was released, they announced their divorce. The real reason why Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her husband Ryan Anderson split can be found very subtly in her statement.

The victim of Munchausen Syndrome by proxy—a rare form of abuse in which a caregiver exaggerates or induces illness in a person under their care to gain sympathy and attention—Blanchard murdered her mother to escape years of abuse and plead guilty to second-degree murder and served a 10-year prison sentence; released on December 28, 2023.

Blanchard’s future husband, Ryan Scott Anderson, sent her a letter in 2020 and said that he never expected to hear back from her, but by May 2020, they were regularly corresponding. In 2022, Anderson and Blanchard obtained a marriage license in Chillicothe, Missouri. It wouldn’t last, however, because People discovered the couple split on March 28, 2024. Here’s why Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her husband Ryan Anderson split.

Why did Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her husband Ryan Anderson split?

A very subtle detail in Gypsy Rose’s divorce post hints that the couple grew apart. “People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately, my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou,” she wrote in a statement obtained by People from her private Facebook account. “I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am.”

On April 3, TMZ reported sources close to the couple knew exactly why the couple split. “Gypsy has been telling family and friends that her estranged hubby, Ryan Anderson, had become super argumentative post-prison release and was constantly making her feel like she couldn’t do anything right,” the tabloid said.

Wheelchair ridden, Gypsy Rose poses with her mother, whom she'd later murder for all the abuse she suffered at her hand

“We’re told one of the major sticking points in Gypsy and Ryan’s relationship was his apparent jealousy over her spending time with her dad,” they continued.

In an interview with People in December 2023, Blanchard said she planned to marry the Louisiana middle school special education teacher again after her release so they could enjoy festivities with their loved ones.

“We do plan on having a reception/redo wedding with all of our family and our friends and the dress and the cake and everything because we deserve that. I deserve that. He deserves that,” she said. “Our prison wedding was just something to where we can make our vows to each other. It was something that meant something to us. And I think the party is kind of for everybody else and us, but mostly for everybody else.”

They did plan to have kids one day but telling them about her mother’s murder will be a challenge. “We’re in love,” says Gypsy. But also, “It’s hard because I’m going into a new life and I’m newly married, and I’m going to have kids one day, and I’m going to have to explain to my kids why their grandmother on mommy’s side isn’t around. And that’s going to be a really hard conversation.”

How did Gypsy Rose Blanchard meet her husband?

Blanchard’s husband sent her a letter in 2020, thanks in part to a co-worker. It was right at the beginning of the COVID pandemic and after watching Tiger King, his co-worker told Anderson she wanted to write to Joe Exotic. “I said, ‘I’ll tell you what, if you write him, I’ll write Gypsy Rose Blanchard,’” Anderson explained to People ahead of Blanchard’s release.

“And I had watched her documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest, like three years before that. And then The Act had came out and I’ve never watched The Act, but I remember my friends talking about The Act and I was like, I’ll watch the documentary again. So it was kind of fresh on my mind.”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Anderson attend

He said that he never expected to hear back from her, but by May 2020, they were regularly corresponding. A year after they started talking, they met for the first time. “We met in 2020 when the pandemic was really, really strong, and I had a lot of emotional ups and downs because of COVID,” Blanchard told People. “Unfortunately, it put the prison in a position to where it restricted our freedom even more … So Ryan has seen me through some really good times, some really hard times.”

She added, “I would say that he is probably the most compassionate soul that I’ve ever met, and the most patient, God knows, he’s so patient with me because I could be a little bit of a lot to handle. I could be a handful, an emotional handful.”

Anderson and Blanchard obtained a marriage license in Chillicothe, Missouri, on June 27, 2022. A month later, on July 21, 2022, the two tied the knot in a small prison ceremony with no guests.

After serving over eight years behind bars, Gypsy is now ready to start fresh and experience freedom for the first time. But Gypsy, who was jailed for her role in the murder of her abusive mother, Clauddine (Dee Dee) Blanchard, felt she had to set the record straight about her past before she could step into her future.

In her new docuseries, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the 32-year-old tells her own story, in her own words.

Gypsy’s case has become one of the most famous pop-culture criminal cases in recent history.

    Story continues below advertisement

In childhood, Dee Dee convinced Gypsy and everyone else, including her doctors, that she had numerous chronic health problems, including leukemia, muscular dystrophy and brain damage. It’s believed Dee Dee suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a mental health disorder that involves a caregiver projecting diagnoses or inducing symptoms in a dependent.

At 23, Gypsy asked her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn, whom she met online, to kill her mother. Godejohn fatally stabbed Dee Dee 17 times while she slept. He is serving life in prison for the 2015 murder.

Gypsy was released from prison on parole in December. While still an inmate, she married 37-year-old schoolteacher Ryan Anderson, whom she met as part of a pen pal program, in June 2022. Since her release, Ryan has travelled with Gypsy, helping her navigate day-to-day life while supporting her through a rigorous press tour.

Alongside her husband Ryan and The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard executive producer Melissa Moore, Gypsy gave Global News special insight into Dee Dee’s history of abuse, Gypsy’s life after prison and how she’s faring with her newfound fame.

Global News: How does Gypsy see herself today, and how has her understanding of her own identity evolved over time?

Gypsy Rose Blanchard: I see myself today as someone trying to come out of prison and start her new life. I’m just trying to remake myself — reinvent myself into something that my family could be proud of. That my husband can be proud of. I think I’m getting there. I don’t think I’m quite there yet, but I’m liking this new version of myself.

Gypsy’s story has blanketed the media, and everyone from true crime bloggers to court TV anchors have dissected the case. Why was it important for Gypsy to make The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard?

Gypsy: I wanted to put out something that was very accurate. I wanted to put out something that was the truth. So much of what has already been put out there was either by people that, honestly, didn’t know the ins and outs of my case or my life. And ultimately, I’m the source — it happened to me. No one has the right, but me, to share my story. And that’s why it was important for me to do this docuseries, because I can finally be like, ‘OK, I’m ready. I am emotionally stable at this point.’ I don’t want to keep being haunted by the past. This series is me letting go of my past.

Did fictional accounts of your life create any misconceptions about your case?

Gypsy: The biggest misconception, honestly, didn’t even have to do with me. I haven’t watched many [fictional retellings], but I have watched at least two. And for me, it was how they portrayed my mom. I think people tend to forget — or maybe they don’t even know — that the reason why my mom was able to snow-blind the doctors so much, and the community, is because she was so friendly. In the shows, they’re portraying her as mean all of the time, and that’s not how she was. She was very charming, very relatable. She would give a hug to anyone. She liked to cook for people. Her personality was bubbly and friendly to the outside world. And then what you see behind closed doors is her hitting me, calling me names, and the abuse.

    Story continues below advertisement

Gypsy mentioned in the docuseries that there are still some questions she has about her story that she needs closure on. What are those questions?

Gypsy: There are questions that I have about the surgeries that I’ve had. I haven’t had a chance to look at my medical records in full detail, and so I have a lot of questions as far as what I had done to me medically. Also questions for my family about things that happened before I was even born.

Sent to your email, every day.

In the docuseries, there’s a number of times when family or professionals could have stepped in and removed Gypsy from her mother’s care. In your opinion, why did that never happen?

Gypsy: I think a big part of it was that there were people that had suspicions, family included, but nobody wants to rock the boat. It wasn’t brought up to other people. It wasn’t talked about. So, people kept their suspicions to themselves just for fear of upsetting my mom, and her ultimately pushing them away as friends or whatnot. On the professional standpoint, I think that for those doctors that did have suspicions, it all has to do with money, honestly. That’s my opinion about it. They were making money off of me, and so I think that in their profession, that that came first.

Melissa Moore: I remember, Gypsy, we had discussed that CPS [Child Protective Services] came to your house at one point. Tell us about that.

    Story continues below advertisement

Gypsy: They did come to my house, and basically, they were asking me the wrong questions. They were like, ‘Show me your arms. Show me your legs.’ They were checking for bruises, and at that point, my mom never hit me. [With CPS] nothing was ever done. There was no follow-up report or anything. They came the one time and then they closed the file.

Melissa: After CPS came, I believe you were telling me your mom became more paranoid about strangers and put garbage bags over the windows, right?

Gypsy: She became increasingly more paranoid after that visit from CPS. She actually went as far as to remove the doorbell on the door because she was just so paranoid about them coming back.

Does Gypsy hold any grudges against her family members for not removing her from her mother?

Gypsy: My mother isolated me, and herself, from her side of the family, and my dad’s side of the family, at a pretty young age for me. I was probably about six years old when she started removing us a little more, and moving away from our hometown that we grew up in. I don’t hold anything against anyone. I don’t hold a grudge. I’ve actually told them all that. I’m like, ‘I don’t put blame on you guys because I was six years old when she took me from you guys, and I understand that you guys were just as much in the dark as everybody else was.’

I constantly drive that home that I do not hold a grudge against anyone. My mother was good at manipulating and lies, and that that’s all there is. There’s no blame to be put on anybody else. Not to me, anyways.

What has married life been like for Gypsy and Ryan?

Ryan Anderson: My life after [Gypsy’s] release has been a whirlwind. It’s been great. Everything’s moving so fast, but it’s been amazing. I’ve waited for this girl to come out for so long, and now she’s home. It feels great to have her here. The support we’ve been getting from people has been tremendous. I can’t thank people enough for everything. They love my wife just as much as I do.

What are Gypsy and Ryan most looking forward to now?

Ryan: There are many things I’m looking forward to in our new life. Just being a normal married couple.  Yesterday, we went shopping, and it was great. We just walked into the store. We had two buggies. That was amazing.  I wanted Gypsy to feel free to get whatever she wanted. And she got some stuff — it’s kind of funny — but she actually bought baby clothes for a future baby. And I was kind of like, ‘We’re not there yet! Slow down.’

Gypsy: It was so cute. I had to get the outfit for just in case, later down the road.

Ryan: When we walked in that section, I was like, ‘Keep walking. We’re not there yet.’ But it’s just little things like that I’m enjoying. Tonight, we plan on cooking again together, and we like doing that together.

How have Gypsy and Ryan been dealing with Gypsy’s sudden onset of fame?

Ryan: The most challenging thing is when people take comments out of context, and they run with it. People make TikTok videos about something that I might have said, and they took it the wrong way. Everything you say is under a microscope, and it’s one of those things I’m not used to. I’m just a southern boy from Louisiana, so that’s challenging to me. I just happened to fall into marrying the most beautiful woman in the world. I feel overwhelmed sometimes with everything they say. The most rewarding thing though, is just being with Gypsy.

Gypsy: And for me, I’m just coming out of prison for eight-and-a-half years, and everyone is well-aware of my story before that. I’m very new to social media and I’m on a learning curve right now. So, when I comment, or even like someone’s post, I have to realize that it will be seen by millions of people. It’s so many eyes on us right now and it is a little overwhelming. The rewarding side of that though is that I have this huge platform which I can use for good. It’s kind of like a superpower.

Why do you think Gen Z is obsessed with Gypsy on social media right now?

Gypsy: I’m coming into this brand new. I feel like I’m a new baby bird on the internet. I don’t even know how to do all of the emojis. I think they relate to me in a sense because I’m coming out and experiencing things for the first time. The things that I’m doing now, I should have been doing when I was like 16. I’m just doing it now for the first time. I think maybe I’m a little bit more relatable in that sense. We all feel the need to want to be loved and seen for who we are. I think that’s what the appeal about me is, that I’m learning about my identity while Gen Z is learning about theirs too.

Melissa: I also want to say that your case is probably one of the very first cases that made Gen Z really understand that the world isn’t a fair place. I think that’s why your case became so famous. For my generation, it was the OJ Simpson case. That was the trial of the century. I think your case was the equivalent to Gen Z because they were just coming to know the world. They saw for the first time that the world is unfair, and that you went to prison. A lot of Gen Z folks have come up to me and expressed that. Their interest in following Gypsy has to do with that the scale of justice did her wrong. They’re hoping that the scale of life does her right.

Before prison, Gypsy used to be interested in cosplay. Is that something she plans to continue now?

Gypsy: A little bit. Looking at old pictures of me wearing different costumes and stuff, even though the interest is there, I can’t help but have a small part of me that still feels like when I put on a costume, I’m put back in that time [before prison]. That’s just something that I’m going to have to work through with a therapist. I still have a lot of triggers that might be extremely subtle. That actually could potentially be one of them. That’s definitely not on the extreme side, but on the subtle side of the trauma that happened.

    Story continues below advertisement

Ryan: She probably wore those cosplay outfits and costumes to get out of the current life she was living with her mother, so it was like an escape. I think she loves who she is now, as a woman, as a person.

    Gypsy: I’m more confident now.

Ryan: When she puts on that costume, she’s escaping a good life that she has now, so she might not want to do it as much.

Gypsy: Even though I’ve got a major interest in cosplay and everything — it’s beautiful to look at — I don’t feel the need to change my identity, whereas I did before.

What does the future look like for Gypsy Rose Blanchard?

Gypsy: My personal goals right now are just to have a lot of family time and make amends with those that were really hurt by, not only the crime, but also learning that the people that they knew (meaning my mom and I before I got arrested) were not real. They weren’t real people. It was a fraud. We weren’t those people. So now coming out, I just want to make amends and show them who I am, and reintroduce myself to these people that I knew from before. Quality time with family, quality time with friends, learning how to cook, being a good wife, these are all personal goals for me right now.

Right now, my life is way too hectic for a 9 to 5. I think that I might get a little bored not having a day-to-day job, so I might want to have one. Right now, I’m not wanting one, and not wanting to take that on, but I think a couple months down the road, I just might. Career-wise, I might want to do people’s hair and makeup. I’m a total girly girl. I might want to do something in retail at a shop that I really like and enjoy. I also might get discounts, which would be cool.

    Story continues below advertisement

I think professional-wise, I will always be Gypsy Blanchard to the media. But I think that I am putting the Gypsy Blanchard that people knew from several years ago in the past. The prison Gypsy is over. Now, this is the new Gypsy. I want to form this new identity for me and see what I can do, see the power of my voice. I’ve already used the power to share my story. Let’s see if I can share other people’s stories and give them a voice too.

This interview has been edited and condensed.

  • Gypsy Rose Blanchard Reveals She Had Shot Her Mom Years Before The Murder

Gypsy Rose Blanchard Reveals She Had Shot Her Mom Years Before The Murder

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who was just released from prison in the killing of her mother, revealed in a new docuseries that she once shot her at their home — before she had even met the boyfriend with whom she conspired to fatally stab her mom in 2015.

Years of abuse from her mother made Blanchard increasingly desperate to escape her household, she says in interviews filmed for the Lifetime docuseries “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.” Her mother is believed to have had factitious disorder imposed on another, formerly known as Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a rare mental condition that led her to subject her daughter to unnecessary and painful medical procedures for nonexistent illnesses.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard spoke about her mother’s abuse and the role she played in killing her mom in Lifetime’s “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.”

As Blanchard grew up and sought independence, she said, her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, became more tyrannical.

Dee Dee said her daughter suffered from epilepsy, leukemia and muscular dystrophy, forcing her to use a feeding tube, shaving her head and confining her to a wheelchair. Blanchard said she could walk unassisted but went along with her mother’s ruse in public. In 2011, when she ran away to be with a man she’d met at a science fiction and fantasy convention, her mother brought her home and chained her to the bed for two weeks, she said. And then Dee Dee bought a gun.

“That scared the ever-living ‘f’ out of me,” Blanchard says. “I was afraid that she would kill me. … I was afraid she would do something worse than hitting me or starving me.”

Blanchard decided to run away again, but her mother found her packed bag and confronted her. Blanchard grabbed the gun, she says, and threatened her mother with it.

“And before I knew it, I pulled the trigger as many times as I could.”

Blanchard shot at her 10 times. Only when she saw that her mother’s wounds were superficial did she realize it was a BB gun and not a deadly handgun.

After the shooting, Dee Dee told another lie to garner more sympathy: She said she’d been shot by a robber who’d held them up in a Walmart parking lot.

Blanchard said she was relieved she hadn’t killed her mother but was also angry.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard says her mother, Dee Dee, forced her to use a wheelchair even though she could walk on her own.

“Why won’t you let me have a normal life? Why is my life this way to begin with?” Blanchard said she asked her mother after the shooting. “She kept reiterating that she takes care of me and I need special care.”

    Blanchard says she felt defeated.

“My mom was such a good master manipulator that she was able to slip me right back into submission again.”

When she met Nick Godejohn about a year later on a Christian dating site, Blanchard thought she’d found her “Prince Charming.” Eventually, she came to see her mother as the villain in their fairy-tale romance — and that the only way she could escape her manipulation would be to kill her.

Godejohn went to the Blanchards’ house in Springfield, Missouri, on June 9, 2015, and stabbed Dee Dee. Gypsy Rose, who says she cowered in a bathroom as the killing took place, then went with him to his home in Wisconsin, where police found them.

Gypsy Rose pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced in 2016 to 10 years in prison. She was released early last month. Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder.

Blanchard says she’d known that asking for help would have made things worse with her mother. And she was probably right: A manager at a movie theater the Blanchards frequented said she wasn’t sure she would have believed Gypsy Rose because her mother had told people the girl was “mentally challenged.”

“It seemed genuine,” the manager says in an interview for “Prison Confessions.” “It really seemed for real. So I don’t know if I would have [believed her], and that hurts my heart. It really does.”

  • Gypsy Rose’s Ex Still Thinks They’re ‘Soulmates’ After Murdering Her Mom

Gypsy Rose’s Ex Still Thinks They’re ‘Soulmates’ After Murdering Her Mom

If you’re catching up with The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, you might be wondering where her ex-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn is now.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard was born to Dee Dee Blanchard in 1995. Growing up, her mother claimed that Gypsy had a range of illnesses like leukemia and muscular dystrophy, leading to her being confined to a wheelchair and requiring constant medical attention. However, things took a turn when Gypsy Rose planned the murder of her mother with the help of her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. The motive behind the murder was Gypsy Rose’s desire for freedom and to escape the abuse and manipulation she experienced at the hands of her mother.

“I was very sheltered” Gypsy explained to People. “I was limited in what I could watch and the exposure I had to other kids. What I knew of the outside world was only in Disney movies and those don’t talk about warning signs of bad parents.”

Gypsy Rose met Nicholas on a Christian dating site in 2013. Buzzfeed News reported that the two texted each other about their future together—including what names they would give their children. The two met for the first time in person in 2015.

In June 2015, he traveled to the Blanchards’ home near Springfield, where he stabbed Dee Dee Blanchard 17 times while Gypsy Rose hid in the bathroom and covered her ears.

Friends of Dee Dee notified the police to do a wellness check after a troubling message appeared on her Facebook page reading: “That Bitch is dead!”, which is still on her page to this day. The IP address was traced back to Nicholas’ home in Wisconsin

The next day, police found Gypsy Rose in Wisconsin with Nicholas and took them both into custody for questioning. It’s there that authorities realized Gypsy Rose did not have any of the physical and mental health issues her mother claimed she had, most notably during the moment Gypsy Rose stood up and walked around the interrogation room.

The case gained widespread media coverage and sparked discussions about Munchausen Syndrome by proxy, a rare form of abuse in which a caregiver exaggerates or induces illness in a person under their care to gain sympathy and attention. Gypsy Rose Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was recently released. So where is her ex-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn now? Read more to find out.

    Where’s Nicholas Godejohn Now?

Nicholas Godejohn is now serving a prison sentence at the Potosi Correctional Center, per The Springfield News-Leader. He was sentenced to life without parole. In 2022, he asked to set aside his previous conviction and order a new trial on the grounds that he had ineffective counsel in his trial, per The Springfield News-Leader. The motion was denied in 2023.

In a 2019 interview for the Oxygen special,  Gypsy Rose & Nick: A Love to Kill, he called his time with Gypsy “the best days of my life.”

“From the very beginning, I just knew we were soulmates,” he continued. “Those five days when I was actually with her, physically with her, those five days were the most intense, and magical, and awe-inspiring days I’ve ever had.”

He talked about how he needed to carry out the murder in order for them to be together. “Somehow I just knew, deep within my heart, some way me and her would end up being together in the end. There’s no other option, we gotta do it,” he said, referring to the murder. “I wanted to make sure her mom was not going to harm her anymore. I made sure of that.”

Shortly before her release, Gypsy affirmed that she regrets her mother’s murder. “I just wasn’t having it,” Gypsy told People, who said she tried to run away. “She found me, brought me back and put in place paperwork saying I was incompetent and she had power of attorney over me… I was trying really hard to figure out another way [other than killing her]. That’s when there was a conversation between me and my co-defendant Nick,” who she’d met on an online dating site. “He said ‘I would do anything to protect you.’ I said, ‘Anything?’ He said ‘Yes.’

    Where Gypsy Rose Live Now

“I was desperate to get out of that situation,” she continued. “If I had another chance to redo everything, I don’t know if I would go back to when I was a child and tell my aunts and uncles that I’m not sick and mommy makes me sick, or if I would travel back to just the point of that conversation with Nick and tell him, ‘You know what, I’m going to go tell the police everything.’ I kind of struggle with that.” But, she added, “Nobody will ever hear me say I’m glad she’s dead or I’m proud of what I did. I regret it every single day.”

  • Joy Behar Is Reminded ‘Murder Is Wrong’ In Awkward Moment With Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Joy Behar Is Reminded ‘Murder Is Wrong’ In Awkward Moment With Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Gypsy Rose Blanchard visited “The View” Friday and had to navigate a pretty uncomfortable on-air moment with co-host Joy Behar.

Blanchard, 32, was released from prison last week after serving nearly a decade behind bars for second-degree murder in the death of her abusive mother in 2015. During her interview, Blanchard spoke about her future plans, which include doing advocacy work for other abuse victims. She then addressed the camera.

“If there is someone out there watching right now, please listen to me, heed my words, that you are not alone in this situation,” she said. “There are other ways out. I did it the wrong way, um, so—”

“No, no, honey, no,” Behar said, cutting Blanchard off. “Don’t say that.”

    “Well, I did—” Blanchard said.

“You had no choice,” Behar said.

“I did something wrong,” Blanchard said. “And I paid my dues for it.”

“Oh, you mean that part,” Behar said with a sheepish smile, and began to backpedal.

“Yes,” Blanchard said. “That part of it.”

“Where are you going with this, Joy?” one of Behar’s co-hosts shouted from off camera.

“Murder is wrong, Joy,” co-host Ana Navarro said, mock-patiently.

“Yes, murder’s wrong,” Blanchard said with an awkward laugh.

A clip of the moment made its way onto X, formerly Twitter, where users certainly found humor in Behar’s seeming suggestion that murder is OK sometimes.

But many others agreed with Behar — who was likely referring to the horrific abuse Blanchard was forced to endure. Some people said that due to the circumstances of Blanchard’s case, they understood her actions.

Blanchard’s mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, lied to her about her health since early childhood and made her believe she had several illnesses and conditions she did not actually have, including leukemia, muscular dystrophy, brain damage and an unspecified chromosomal disorder.

In order to sell the scam, Clauddine Blanchard forced her daughter to use a wheelchair, shaved her head and had a doctor install a feeding tube in her stomach. Clauddine, who was also physically abusive, exploited Gypsy Rose’s fake illnesses for personal gain and convinced their community that the charade was authentic — which kept her daughter isolated and in a state of arrested development.

Gypsy Rose realized later in life that she was not sick at all, and at age 19, she conspired with her then boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to kill her mother. Godejohn was found guilty of first-degree murder after stabbing Clauddine Blanchard to death in her home in Springfield, Missouri, in 2015. He was sentenced to life in prison.

During her appearance on “The View,” Gypsy Rose was asked about her critics who claim she’s using her notoriety for financial gain. She explained her reasons for being so public now that her sentence is up.

“I’m a very private person, and I don’t like the fame,” Blanchard said. “But the one thing that I can do with it is some good. So, I’m not in it for fame or fortune. My story is important to me, it happened to me, and I just want to be an advocate. I want to be somebody that can help others. That’s seriously all that I want.”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard Reveals She’s ‘Finally Free’ After Prison Release

After her anticipated release from prison, many people might be wondering where Gypsy Rose is now.

In court, it was argued Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a rare form of abuse in which a caregiver exaggerates or induces illness in a person under their care to gain sympathy and attention. Gypsy Rose Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and served a 10-year prison sentence. She was released early on December 28, 2023. Godejohn, however, was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for his involvement in Dee Dee’s murder.

So where is Gypsy Rose Blanchard now after her life in prison?

Where is Gypsy Rose Blanchard now?

Gypsy Rose Blanchard now lives with her husband Ryan Anderson in Louisiana. He reportedly picked her up from the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri around 3:30 a.m. on December 29, 2023. Ahead of her release, she told People: “I know the home that I’m going home to is with my husband, and I’m going to have a really supportive family dynamic. And I think that that’s what I’ve been missing this whole time.”

Days after her release, she created her own TikTok account and posted a TikTok wishing her followers a Happy New Year and saying that she’s “finally free” and celebrating with her father, stepmother, and husband. The video currently has over 65 million views, as of writing this article. She’s also been spotted taking photos with fans at Burger King.

On December 30, 2023, TMZ reported that authorities told Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her family to not attend the Kansas City Chiefs game on New Year’s Day. Sources told the gossip site that it might be because of security risks to her continued presence in the Kansas City area where was before the game. One of her wishes post-release was to meet Taylor Swift at the Chiefs game where her boyfriend Travis Kelce plays.

How Did Gypsy Rose Kill Her Mom? She Regrets It ‘Every Single Day’

Gypsy Rose Blanchard met her husband Ryan Anderson after he wrote to her after watching Tiger King and Mommy Dead and Dearest.

“We do plan on having a reception/redo wedding with all of our family and our friends and the dress and the cake and everything because we deserve that. I deserve that. He deserves that,” she continued to People. “Our prison wedding was just something to where we can make our vows to each other. It was something that meant something to us. And I think the party is kind of for everybody else and us, but mostly for everybody else.”

They do plan to have kids one day but telling them about her mother’s murder will be a challenge.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is the subject of a new Lifetime documentary, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, which premiers on January 5, 2024. The three-night documentary event, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, provides Blanchard the platform to share her story, her way.

“I’ve been documenting Gypsy’s ‘coming of age’ in prison for the past seven years and over the course of this time, I watched her transform into a woman who holds responsibility for her past and now has the courage to face an unknown new free world for the first time,” said executive producer, Melissa Moore.

“After a lifetime of silence, I finally get to use my voice to share my story and speak my truth. As a survivor of relentless child abuse, this docuseries chronicles my quest for liberation and journey through self-discovery,” said Gypsy Rose Blanchard. “I am unapologetically myself and unafraid to expose the hidden parts of my life that have never been revealed until now.”
