    Darkman

    In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Liam Neeson stated he has not yet spoken to Sam Raimi about a new Darkman movie, “even pointing out that ‘they made two’ sequels without him in the direct-to-video films.” Unaware the film was rumored to be a direct sequel to the original, Neeson “humorously mimicked a phone call between him and Raimi acting as though he couldn’t hear the filmmaker before affirming, ‘I’d love to work with Sam’ and is keen to see a modern take on the franchise.”

    Avengers: Doomsday

    Speaking with Empire Magazine (via Screen Rant), the Russo Brothers stated “Victor von Doom demands a certain tone” unlike anything the MCU has seen so far.

    We also run at the complexity and the difficulty of what these movies can do at a narrative level. I think we’ve found a new level of that in Doomsday. Victor von Doom demands a certain tone.

    The Russos also discussed Steve Rogers’ return to the MCU, emphasizing the character’s importance to the story.

    We have a special affinity with the character, we can’t see this narrative without his central role in it basically. The special place he holds among the ensemble, he sort of retains that moving forward.

    Gundam

    Deadline reports Jason Clarke has joined the cast of Legendary’s live-action Gundam movie in a currently undisclosed role.

    Two Neighbors

    ScreenDaily reports Ralph Ineson, Anya Chalotra, Chloe Cherry, Taz Skylar, William Hope, Jake Simmance, and Samuel Anderson will star in Two Neighbors, a “satirical thriller based on Aesop’s fable “Avaricious and Envious” from director Ondine Viñao. The story concerns “a struggling writer (Chalotra) and an insatiable socialite (Cherry) who become entangled in a dangerous conflict fueled by a modern-day genie (Ineson) who promises to grant their deepest, darkest wishes.”

    Celestia

    Deadline reports Thomas Jane will star in Celestia, a sci-fi thriller from director Joel Souza. Based on a script by Cory Todd Hughes and Adrian Speckert, the story concerns “a devoted but troubled father (Jane) who crash-lands on a remote planet. He must claw his way back from disaster while keeping his daughter safe inside their deteriorating spacecraft. But as he searches the alien landscape for answers and a path to escape, Graham begins to uncover signs that they may have been expected, pulling him into a mystery far more dangerous than the crash itself.”

    The Fields Are Watching

    Bloody-Disgusting reports Diane Guerrero, Juan Pablo Raba, Indhira Serrano, Laureano Olivarez, Laura Sofía Domínguez, and Norberto Rivera will star in The Fields Are Watching, “a supernatural horror film rooted in Latin American folklore” from director Diego Velasco. Based on a script Velasco wrote with his wife, Carolina Paiz, the story “centers on a grieving couple who inherit a secluded farm in Venezuela following the loss of their daughter, unaware of the dark forces they’re about to face.” Reportedly, the film is based on the Venezuelan legend El Silbón.

    Child’s Play

    In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jennifer Tilly confirmed there are still plans in place for more Child’s Play.

    The television series just ended, but I know for a fact that there’s more Chucky and Tiffany in the works, the Gruesome Twosome.

    Evil Dead Wrath

    According to the Screen Guild, Francis Galluppi’s Evil Dead movie starring Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Zach Gilford, Josh Helman, Ella Newton, Elizabeth Cullen, and Ella Oliphant is slated to begin production this month in Auckland under the working title Evil Dead Wrath.

    Scream 7

    Speaking with Empire (via Bloody-Disgusting), Kevin Williamson stated Scream 7 “doesn’t really have that meta goal” of previous entries.

    This movie doesn’t really have that meta goal. It’s continuing the legacy of Sidney Prescott. It’s about her daughter. It’s about family. We said, ‘We’re gonna be less bloody. We kind of screwed up with that. I said, ‘I think we need more blood.’ And Neve was like, ‘I think you’re right.’

     

    Crystal Lake

    In a new Instagram post, showrunner Brad Caleb Kane revealed longtime Friday the 13th franchise composer Harry Manfredini is returning to score Crystal Lake.

    Clara and the Below

    Finally, Amphibia creator Matt Braly revealed his next project will be a “gothic horror interpretation” of The Nutcracker called Clara and the Below.

  • Legendary’s ‘Gundam’ Movie May Put Noah Centineo In a Mech

    Hollywood’s been trying to get a movie for Mobile Suit Gundam off the ground for a while, and Legendary Pictures is next in line to make it happen. After bagging Sydney Sweeney this past spring for a lead role, the film’s found another star in Noah Centineo.

    Per the Hollywood Reporter, the Black Adam and future Street Fighter actor is “in talks” to join the project. Legendary is reportedly keeping mum on the potential casting for “sensitivity” reasons, and prior to Centineo, attempted to lock in Queer star Drew Starkey for this role. Sweeney’s said to be “very much involved” in choosing her co-lead, since they’re to be “on opposite sides of a war between planets who find a connection.”

    Vague a description that may be, it might give an idea of what the Gundam movie may be about, namely that Sweeney and Centineo are playing characters from The 08th MS Team. The original anime series for the franchise is set during the One Year War and focuses on Aina Sahalin, a pilot from the Principality of Zeon, and Shiro Amada, an ensign of the Earth Federation who cross paths during a mutual rescue in space. Like how this live-action film is described, Aina and Shiro are conflicted about their growing feelings for one another as the war between the Federation and Zeon escalates.

    Alternatively, this movie could be a wholly original story; Legendary’s been mum on the Gundam movie’s plot, save that it’s written and directed by Sweeth Tooth creator Jim Mickle. We’ll find out and cover more about it as news emerges.

  • Noah Centineo Circling ‘Gundam’ Live-Action Adaptation From Legendary Starring Sydney Sweeney

    To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Recruit alum Noah Centineo is in talks to board Legendary‘s live-action adaptation of Gundam, the sprawling Japanese military sci-fi franchise, opposite Sydney Sweeney.

    As Deadline previously reported in late 2024, Sweet Tooth showrunner Jim Mickle is set to direct the new Gundam, co-developed between Legendary and franchise owner Bandai Namco Filmworks, from his own script. Mickle will also produce with his partner Linda Moran through their production company Nightshade.

    Earlier this year, it was announced Christy star Sweeney was in final negotiations to board the project. The plot is currently under wraps, but the film — which will mark the first live-action entry into the world — is looking to start production in early 2025.

    One of the most revered animé, Gundam pioneered the sci-fi subgenre known as mecha, IP that centers on giant fighting robots. Gundam is set in the Universal Century, a future where humanity has colonized space. When a rebellion erupts between Earth and its colonies, the ensuing conflict is fought by pilots in massive mechanized contraptions known as mobile suits. The long-running multimedia franchise first launched with series Mobile Suit Gundam in 1979. Since then, the internationally renowned Yoshiyuki Tomino-created endeavor has spanned 83 animated series and movies, in addition to a lucrative merchandising arm that generates $600 million annually. 

    Legendary Entertainment initially announced its development of a Gundam film with Netflix in the spring of 2021, with Jordan Vogt-Roberts attached to direct the pic following his work with the studio on its hit Monterverse installment Kong: Skull Island. However, the streamer and Vogt-Roberts are no longer involved.

    Following his breakout in Netflix’s beloved film adaptation of Jenny Han’s trilogy romance series, Centineo has also appeared in Black Adam, Warfare, The Perfect Date and The Fosters. Having just wrapped production on another Legendary movie, 2026’s Street Fighter, he will also soon appear in a Rambo prequel from Lionsgate and Gabriel Basso’s directorial debut Iconoclast.

    “Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance” will launch as a game within Epic Games’ “Fornite” in connection with the Oct. 17 release of Netflix’s anime series of the same name.

    From Bandai Namco Entertainment America and Look North World, the Unreal Engine 5-powered “island” within the online “Fornite” platform will be a free activiation “where players participate in a Team Deathmatch-style game in the ‘Fortnite‘ universe. Started by one of the founding members of Bungie, the creators of ‘Halo,’ Look North World leverages new and emerging creator platforms, like UEFN and Curseforge, to build games for millions of existing players.”

    Per the game’s description, “During matches, players will power up their faction’s respective Mobile Suits by collecting points and assists for their team. Once powered up, a pilot is chosen from each team to unleash the awesome destructive power of their team’s Mobile Suit – the Gundam EX for the EFSF or the ZAKU II (Unidentified Type) Solari for the Zeon forces, helping their teams turn the tide of battle and securing victory.”

    The “Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance” game will launch soon after Netflix debuts the “Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance” anime series Oct. 17.
