  • Super Mario Bros. Movie Quietly Drops Two More Trailers

Super Mario Bros. Movie Quietly Drops Two More Trailers

    [ad_1]

While we’ve had two big, official trailers released for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie, a pair of TV commercials in Europe have very quietly dropped that feature some fresh footage not seen in either.

Maybe you’re the type of person who would like to avoid that at all costs, and leave as much of the movie for your actual viewing of the movie as possible. If that’s you, go away, you should have never have clicked/tapped this far into the post, what could you have possibly have been expecting.

If, however, you do not care, and realise that there will be 90-120 minutes of Mario movie and what difference does seeing another few seconds make, then welcome.

As spotted by Go Nintendo, this Dutch TV commercial—it’s subtitled, all the dialogue is in English—that runs for 31 seconds is pretty much all new footage, showing Mario getting introduced to life in the Mushroom Kingdom, particularly their public transport system, which seems incredibly efficient:

The Super Mario Bros. Movie Trailer (NEW FOOTAGE!)

While this 21-second Spanish commercial has even more stuff, bookending the Luigi moustache scene from yesterday’s full trailer with some scenes featuring Mario and Peach:

The Super Mario Bros. Movie – TV Spot (Spanish, NEW footage as of Nov. 30)

I don’t know how many more of these are going to come out between now and the film’s release in 2023, but there can’t be too many, otherwise like I alluded to above, we’ll be getting close to actually having seen large parts of the movie by then.

Anyway, if you missed yesterday’s big trailer—which featured some karting, some gladiatorial combat and Donkey Kong’s assyou can catch up and watch it here.

  • ‘Artist Sunday’ encourages residents to support local artists and shop their work in Akron

‘Artist Sunday’ encourages residents to support local artists and shop their work in Akron

    [ad_1]

AKRON, Ohio — We’ve all heard of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and even Cyber Monday.

However, “Artist Sunday” is now gaining national attention.

Artist Sunday is a nationwide effort encouraging you to shop local and support local artwork and artists ahead of the holidays.

Some of Northeast Ohio’s finest artwork entered the spotlight today and was on full display in Akron.

“Artist Sunday is an opportunity for people to get to know me as an artist,” said Robert Greer, ZaBre Inspire Chief Executive Officer.

Akron native Robert Greer pours his heart and soul into his artwork and music.

“ZaBre Inspire” is his passion project. It’s where he showcases his graphic design and digital photography.

He jumped at the chance to display his hyper-local pieces on Artist Sunday.

“You shop at stores. We’re not commercial here. We’re local so all of us artists–we get a chance to show you what we’re all about,” said Greer.

Paintings, sketches and sculptures took over the Summit Art Space in downtown Akron.

Local organizations and area artists worked as one to encourage folks to support local industry.

“It’s a great way to like sort of check two boxes, like support your local artists and find like amazing gifts for your family and friends,” said Lizzi Aronhalt, an Akron Artist.

Lizzi Aronhalt shares immense pride in the Rubber City.

The Akron native’s paintings inside of her studio at Summit Art Space are a true reflection of her roots.

“The work is typically cities and city scales and buildings. It’s inspired by places I’ve lived,” said Aronhalt.

Organizers say buying pieces from local artists—spurs the economy and raises awareness of their incredible talents.

It’s critical because during the peak pandemic most art shows were canceled or put entirely online.

Artist Sunday is now being called a pinnacle comeback moment and a tradition that will continue for years to come.

“You simply can’t buy a unique handmade gift like this at just any store. You have to come to Summit Art Space. The talent here is phenomenal,” said Heather Meeker, Executive Director of Summit Art Space.

Shoppers are encouraged to post their purchases on social media and use the hashtags #ShopArt and #ArtistSunday.

Parking and admission at the Summit Art Space are free to the public.

Highlight Design Studio Launches Nov. 5 With 2018 Holiday Cards Collection

    [ad_1]

New graphic design business aims to help people highlight the best parts of their life with greeting cards as well as Instagram.

    Press Release

    updated: Oct 29, 2018

Highlight Design Studio is a new graphic design company announcing its launch on Nov. 5, 2018. Owned and created by Megan Hall, Highlight Design Studio offers greeting cards specifically designed to highlight the best parts of life. Many people highlight their lives on Instagram, Facebook and similar platforms, but not everyone is on social media. Using Highlight Design Studio’s greeting cards, people can reach their friends and family in the real world.

“There seems to be this trope out there, that you only post the best parts of your life on Instagram and Facebook – you don’t post about the real hard or difficult days,” says the owner, Megan Hall. “But how do you project that image to your friends and family – older relatives maybe – who aren’t on social media? How will they know how great your life is?” Starting with holiday cards and growing to include graduation announcements, wedding stationery, baby announcements and more, Highlight Design Studio is the answer.

But how do you project that image to your friends and family – older relatives maybe – who aren’t on social media? How will they know how great your life is?

Megan Hall, Owner, Highlight Design Studio

Highlight Design Studio’s first collection is a line of holiday cards featuring 11 different designs. Customers can choose from six pre-selected messages or insert their own. They also have the option of adding a photo to the card. Whether they want to highlight their family, their pets or their fabulous self, Highlight Design Studio has an option for everyone. Customers can order sets of physical cards and envelopes or they can select the digital download option and print the cards themselves.

Holiday cards were one of the original opportunities for bragging about family and accomplishments. Families sent out cards with letters describing all the highlights of their past year. But now, anyone can send out cards thanks to Highlight Design Studio. “Whether you want to brag about how awesome your kid is or the fact that you kept your cactus alive for almost the whole year, our holiday cards are the perfect way to do so,” says Megan.

Megan first started making her own cards when she was 10 years old. What started as a hobby to spend time with her mother has now become her career. Megan is a military spouse so even though her educational background is in civil engineering, she decided to start her own online business instead of searching for a new job every two to four years. Megan adds, “While this isn’t exactly what I expected to do with my career, I really enjoy graphic design and am looking forward to taking this business wherever we go next.”

  • Digital Artisanal Launches Standalone Online Store With 54 Simple Modern Cross Stitch Patterns

Digital Artisanal Launches Standalone Online Store With 54 Simple Modern Cross Stitch Patterns

    [ad_1]

After building a loyal fanbase with its free clickable pattern maker, DigitalArtisanal.com has entered the online retail space with three updated pattern collections for crafters who want to stitch simple projects that look great in their homes.

    Press Release

    updated: Jul 30, 2018

When Brianne Benness decided to start cross stitching again for the first time since childhood, she was excited that the traditional craft was having a modern resurgence. While there are pages and pages of cute, funny and subversive cross stitch patterns available for sale online, none of them really spoke to Benness. As an editor and designer with a background in architecture, she really wanted to create her own patterns.

Traditional design software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are poorly suited to making cross stitch patterns, which require a limited color palette, a grid structure and a final product that has small symbols representing each color instead of pixels. On the other hand, cross stitch pattern software did not offer the kind of design flexibility that Benness was used to. So she wrote her own program using the Processing design language and released a basic version of the cross stitch pattern maker on DigitalArtisanal.com.

Stitchers today want modern cross stitch patterns that will complement their style. The DIY home decor trend has made us all more aware of how beautiful our spaces can be, and cross stitch is the perfect way to create affordable accents for any room.

Brianne Benness, Founder and Lead Designer at Digital Artisanal

“Stitchers today want modern cross stitch patterns that will complement their style,” said Brianne Benness, founder and lead designer at Digital Artisanal. “The DIY home decor trend has made us all more aware of how beautiful our spaces can be, and cross stitch is the perfect way to create affordable accents for any room.”

So far, Benness has used her program to design three unique collections that stitchers can purchase in the new Digital Artisanal Store. The Sakonnet Collection includes 10 patterns with a fresh green palette and design elements including Helvetica Black and geometric fills that will appeal to every minimalist. The Suffragist Collection combines the pop art aesthetic with five noted American Suffragists to create bold accent pieces in two different sizes. And the AIGA Icons Collection features 34 classic graphic symbols that have been converted to small three-inch projects that are perfect for any design geek who is just starting to stitch.

Digital Artisanal launched the new online store to friends and family on July 29, and the grand opening sale will begin Aug. 1. Benness plans to keep the pattern maker available for free and to release a new collection in the store this fall.

The Shapeless Shape inspires individuality, creativity, and diversity – created by Victor Saad, David Kelley, Edu Vea, and Matthew Hoffman

    Press Release

    updated: Oct 11, 2017

A team of educators and innovators, including Experience Institute founder, Victor Saad, and the founder of IDEO & the Stanford d.school, David Kelley, have collaborated on a new children’s book. The Shapeless Shape tackles the challenge of finding a place where creativity, unique talents, and individuality can shine.

Set in a world where circles, squares, and triangles go to school to learn what they can become, the book tells the story of one shape — a shapeless shape — that just doesn’t fit. Spanish designer Edu Vea and world-renowned artist Matthew Hoffman bring the text to life with illustrations composed of hand-crafted wooden shapes.

As a parent, you are always looking for unique ways to encourage your kids and spark their curiosity and dreams. These are the kinds of stories I want my daughter to read.

    Mike Worley, Father

The book is playfully designed for all ages and genders. Young audiences will have fun hunting for familiar shapes, and watching basic elements combine to create buildings and landscapes, characters and obstacles. The struggle of fitting in is also a recognizable lesson for older children and adults.

The Shapeless Shape celebrates uniqueness, and the use of challenges as opportunities for discovery and innovation. The authors, Victor Saad & David Kelley, are champions of these positive messages, promoting the ideas throughout their professional work in education and innovation.

The Shapeless Shape is being crowd-funded through a Kickstarter campaign that reached its goal in less than 48 hours. The campaign runs until Oct. 19, and the book will ship to backers in December. Learn more at: bit.ly/tsskickstart or theshapelessshape.com.
