  • 2 dead after SUV drives into house in Gloucester County, police say

    [ad_1]

Two people were killed after an SUV drove into a house in the Mullica Hill section of Harrison Township, New Jersey, on Saturday night, police said.

The crash happened at around 6:30 p.m. on Banff Drive, police said.

The SUV, which appears to be a Hyundai Palisade, crashed into the house’s first floor living, according to Harrison Township Police Chief Ronald Cundey.

As a result of the crash, two people inside the SUV were killed and the family inside the house was not injured.

“By the grace of God, the family inside the house was not in the room that the car crashed into, and were able to escape safely unharmed,” Cundey said.

The crash subsequently caused the house to catch on fire, but the flames have been put out, Cundey said.

The identities of the two killed are being withheld at this time, however, Cundey did say the deceased included one man and one woman.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash, but Cundey said they believe it looks like an accident.

“It is unclear at this time why the car may have lost control, or why the driver lost control and crashed into the house,” Cundey said. “We’re at the very initial stages of the investigation. It’s a very tragic situation here tonight, and we’re just trying to figure it out.”

  • 26-year-old killed after car slides off road into water in South Jersey: Police

    [ad_1]

A 26-year-old woman was killed after her car slid on an icy road in Monroe Township in Gloucester County and overturned on Saturday morning, police said.

The car was found by a passerby just after 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, and was found overturned in a small body of water, police said.

After an investigation, police said they believe a woman from Franklin Township was driving a 2025 Kia Sportage eastbound on W. Malaga Road, near Bracken Drive, when her car slipped on the icy roadway and rotated, eventually sliding off the road and into a small body of water next to the roadway.

The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Anyone with information is urged to call 856-875-2940 or submit a tip online here.

    Icy roads across region

Roads and sidewalks were icy throughout the Philly region after a wintry mix came down overnight Friday into Saturday.

NBC10 was out looking at the roads and found many side streets were still dealing with dangerous issues.

A car even slid while making a turn as Siobhan McGirl reported live from Pennsauken in Camden County.

Icy roads in South Jersey were causing drivers to go about their travels more cautiously on Saturday. NBC10’s Siobhan McGirl has the story.

A real concern is black ice, which will look like shiny or wet asphalt. Drivers are urged to be aware of the cars in front of them and avoid any quick movements with their steering wheel to stay safe.

If your car begins sliding on black ice, begin to slow down, but do not hit the brakes or accelerate too hard because it will cause the car to slide more.

Saturday night and Sunday morning are going to remain cold, but dry. However, more wintry mix is expected for Sunday afternoon and evening.

  • Christmas presents stolen from trailer at NJ nonprofit Wheels of Change in NJ

    [ad_1]

A real-life Grinch targeted a nonprofit in South Jersey and got away with hundreds of toys for children in need over the weekend.

Wheels of Change in West Deptford, New Jersey, is now scrambling to replace hundreds of toys before Christmas after a thief allegedly cut the locks off their trailer and stole bags of gifts.

The organization had put the toys away in the trailer to set them aside for more than 600 children.

“Honestly, my stomach dropped I wanted to cry,” Wheels of Change founder Brenda Gonzalez said. “As we were having a food distribution outside for Thanksgiving we noticed that the locks were cut.”

There are no surveillance cameras outside of the nonprofit’s building, so organizers said that they don’t know when the theft happened or who possibly committed the theft.

Only some clothing was left behind.

“We are going to have to find toys for those kids,” Gonzalez said. “God doesn’t give you more than you can handle so I know that we are going to receive tenfold and we are already seeing it.”

Wheels of Change is a resource center that helps thousands of families every year. This robbery is leaving the organization trying to find new gifts for more than 600 children before Dec. 13.

It’s a mission that they don’t have to tackle alone as local families and businesses have stepped up to help.

If you would like to help, Wheels of Change is accepting donations of toys at their location at 1997 Gateway Boulevard, Suite 4 in Westville.

Donations can be dropped off Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

They say any new toys, geared toward children ages 7 and up, would be appreciated.

The crash looks like it happened at the intersection of the Black Horse Pike and Berlin Cross Keys Road in Washington Township on Nov. 6.

In surveillance video obtained by NBC10 from a nearby business, a bicyclist appears to be traveling westbound crossing at the intersection before a car going south on Black Horse Pike can be seen crashing into them.

“Honestly it didn’t look real. Like, I never seen anything like that before. It was crazy,” witness Ethan Vallecillo said. “The whole view was in front of me so I was just eating my food just looking and all I seen was a bike go flying and all I heard was the cars sounded like tires were rubbing really hard on the road.”

SkyForce10 was over the scene just before 10 p.m. where a large police presence could be seen along with at least one fire truck.

A bicycle was visible laying on its side as well as debris on the roadway.

Several lanes of the intersection were closed off as police investigated.

No word yet on if anyone was hurt or what led to the crash.

  • NJ school bus driver charged with DUI while transporting students, police say

NJ school bus driver charged with DUI while transporting students, police say

    [ad_1]

A school bus driver in South Jersey is facing multiple charges after police said she was driving under the influence while dozens of students were on board.

According to the Clayton Police Department, on Friday at 9:10 a.m. officers received a tip that a school bus driver may have been driving while intoxicated.

Police said officers were able to locate the bus and identified the driver as 48-year-old Suzanne Storms of Williamstown, New Jersey.

Storms failed the field sobriety test at the scene and was taken into custody, according to police.

At the time police said Storms was driving 23 elementary-age students. Another bus picked up the students and safely transported them to Herma Simmons Elementary School without incident.

Police said Storms was charged with DUI, endangering the welfare of a child and numerous traffic summonses.

Storms was released from police custody and was given a future court date.

The Clayton Public School District released a statement saying in part:

“It goes without saying that this is behavior that will not be tolerated and we will be terminating the employee effective immediately.”
