    The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office is investigating sexual assault and harassment allegations made by Hughson City Councilmember Susana Vasquez against Mayor George Carr.Vasquez accused Carr of sexual assault and harassment in a Facebook post, stating that disclosing the situation has been one of the most difficult decisions she has had to make and that it has been difficult to endure.Mayor Carr responded in an email, saying the accusations are “completely false,” while emphasizing his 16 years of leadership and integrity. He added that the accusations are part of an ongoing investigation and that he cannot discuss them publicly at this time.The city of Hughson sent a statement saying it takes any allegation of misconduct seriously and is committed to ensuring a safe environment for all who work with the city. The city also said it does not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises concerns or participates in any review process.Attempts to reach Councilmember Vasquez for an interview have been unsuccessful, and both the mayor and the city have declined interviews.
