Ethics Committee To Review Allegations Of Sexual Misconduct, Drug Use Against Matt Gaetz

The House Ethics Committee, which has a long-running investigation into the conduct of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), announced it is now also considering allegations of sexual misconduct and illicit drug use in addition to previous claims that he accepted improper gifts and sought to obstruct government investigations. What do you think?

“I’m appalled that my tax dollars are being used to pay the salaries of an Ethics committee.”

    Gloria Dupree, Brakes Cutter

“I’m sure this was caused by peer pressure from all his teenage friends.”

    Najeem Wolff, Bedding Critic

“At least give him a chance to pay off the committee members.”

    Theo Castine, Vitamin Pusher

  • Biden calls on Republicans to ‘keep their word about support for Ukraine’

Biden calls on Republicans to ‘keep their word about support for Ukraine’

President Joe Biden, speaking at the White House on Sunday some 12 hours after signing stopgap legislation to avert a federal government shutdown, called on House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and fellow Republicans to maintain the U.S.’s commitment to assist Ukraine in its ongoing defense against the Russian invasion that began in February 2022. McCarthy, the president said, has committed to bring a Ukraine assistance bill to the House floor, after McCarthy, who has to varying degrees publicly expressed support for the Ukraine cause, removed Ukraine funds from the 45-day continuing resolution passed Saturday, with Democratic backing, to assuage his own intraparty detractors. “Let’s be clear,” said Biden. “I hope my friends on the other side [of the aisle] keep their word about support for Ukraine. They said they’re going to support Ukraine in a separate vote.” Biden called the government-shutdown near-miss “a manufactured crisis” brought about when Republicans walked away from the compromises reached in May, when McCarthy and Biden came together to resolve a debt-ceiling impasse. “I’m sick and tired of the brinksmanship.”

‘A Clue!’ Exclaims Kevin McCarthy After Finding Footprints That Match Biden’s Shoes

WASHINGTON—Crouching down with a large magnifying glass to his eye, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy reportedly exclaimed, “A clue!” Friday after finding footprints on the House floor matching President Joe Biden’s shoes. “I say, this footprint appears to be identical to the ones found in the Oval Office, leading me to deduce they can only belong to one man,” said McCarthy, donning a houndstooth deerstalker hat and motioning to his sidekick to follow closely behind as he traced the footprints into the shadows of the U.S. Capitol. “Look there, my good man, the interloper has led us to the statuary but then appears to have disappeared into the gardens. We may need to fetch the bloodhound lest the trail turn cold. I say, Gaetz, I have a hunch that pursuing this lead will have us wrapping up this impeachment inquiry in no time at all.” At press time, a candle-holding McCarthy let out a scream after he and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene bumped into one another while both inching backwards through a dark and mysterious Capitol hallway.

  • Justice Department Concurs With Matt Gaetz Defense That 17-Year-Olds Pretty Much Ready To Roll

Justice Department Concurs With Matt Gaetz Defense That 17-Year-Olds Pretty Much Ready To Roll

WASHINGTON—Announcing the decision to end its sex-trafficking investigation into the Republican congressman, the Justice Department stated Friday that it concurred with Rep. Matt Gaetz’s defense that 17-year-olds were pretty much ready to roll. “After two years of pouring over every detail within this highly sensitive case, we have concluded that Mr. Gaetz was correct when he pointed out that come on, at that age, a girl is all but cleared for landing,” said Attorney General Merrick Garland, who added that the women Gaetz is alleged to have paid for sex—at least one of whom was a girl under 18—were mature for their age, and that they were “pretty much fair game” if they wanted to accept cash in exchange for sleeping with a member of Congress. “The Justice Department took this case extremely seriously, and by all accounts, the witnesses and the evidence point to the fact that these girls were definitely old enough to give the green light. If anything, we agree with Gaetz that they’d also have been ready to do that at an even younger age, like 14 or 15. Seriously, just look at them.” Garland went on to announce that any underage woman who came forward to accuse Gaetz of sex-trafficking would face federal charges of being a ho-bag slut.

Florida Republicans Vote Against Hurricane Relief

Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz and Florida Sen. Rick Scott voted against a resolution that would allow FEMA to use up to $15 million in the Disaster Relief Fund and provide financial assistance to Hurricane Ian victims in their state. What do you think?

“Are we supposed to help people after every hurricane? Where does it end?”

    Joseph Cardenas, Petrologist

“Someone could always remind Gaetz that the money will also go towards helping teen girls.”

    Arlene Guariglio, Doffer

“In fairness, all that money will just be wasted on people in need.”

    Scotty Jellings, City Surveyor
