MONTGOMERY — The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission selected 21 licensees Monday for the exclusive rights to grow and distribute medical marijuana in the state.
With more than 90 applicants, the licenses were highly sought-after among companies looking to get in early on the medical marijuana industry as the state rolls out its pilot program allowing doctors to prescribe cannabis to eligible patients.
‘When we leave here today, there’s going to be some terribly disappointed people’
The commission met early Monday morning at the RSA Dexter Avenue Building in Montgomery, the room filled with dozens of company representatives all hoping to be selected. Shortly after kicking off the meeting, the commission went into recess in order to commence the candidate review process, which was not open to the public.
Returning in the afternoon, Commission Executive Director John McMillan attempted to temper expectations of some of the business representatives in the room before the commission announced their decisions.
“When we leave here today, there’s going to be some terribly disappointed people. To the recipients, we look forward to working with you in a partnership manner.”
Licenses will be awarded in July after a period for possible challenges and licensing fees are paid. Annual licensing fees range from $30,000 to $50,000. McMillan…

Each class will get an additional skill that unlocks at level 53 as well. The update, titled ‘Destruction’s Wake‘ will usher in new servers as well. This update will have maintenance go live on June 14, from 5 PM to 7 PM PDT for Oceania, China, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe Servers, and on June 15, from 1 AM to 3 AM PDT for servers in the Americas. If you’ve not played in a while, watch the newest Battle Pass trailer below:
Blizzard says this update is in tribute to the co-creators of Sanctuary, Lilith and Inarius. The full patch notes for the massive Diablo Immortal anniversary update are here. As the fourth major update, a lot will be improving and changing, but it is good to see Diablo Immortal continue to get a lot of support. With Diablo IV having just released, it is going to be interesting to see how Blizzard handles potential collaborations in both. I love Diablo IV. If you haven’t already, read my Diablo IV Steam Deck review covering getting it to run and more here. Have you been playing Diablo Immortal regularly and will you be checking out this anniversary update later in the week?

At Summer Game Fest, we had more interesting mobile announcements than I expected following news from Marvel Snap and FF7 Ever Crisis. HoYoverse showcased a new trailer for the space fantasy turn-based RPG Honkai Star Rail revealing a new character and also confirming the PS5 version’s release window. When Honkai Star Rail comes to PS5 in Q4 2023, it will have cross save and cross play support with iOS, Android, and PC platforms. I’m definitely going to move to playing it on both iPad and PS5 when that happens. This trailer showcases Luka and also Yukong who are upcoming characters following the Honkai Star Rail 1.1 update. Watch the Honkai Star Rail Summer Game Fest 2023 and PS5 release trailer below:
Honkai Star Rail is available for free on the App Store for iOS here, on Google Play for Android here, and check it here on the Epic Games Store in addition to its regular PC version. I didn’t expect news this soon after the Honkai Star Rail 1.1 update, but it made sense to have this reveal at Summer Game Fest 2023. I was surprised that the PS5 version is coming so late though. I expected it in the next month or two. Have you been playing Honkai Star Rail regularly since it launched on mobile and PC?

Capcom and Nebula Joy have been working on Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat (), a mobile entry in the brilliant Devil May Cry series, for a while now. It has seen betas, soft launches, and more over the years, but it has finally gone up for pre-order on the App Store for iOS as of this week. Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat is an official mobile game aiming to deliver a proper action RPG experience with classic characters, weapons, bosses, and more. It will feature a brand new story and be a free to play game with optional in app purchases. The official website and trailers so far have confirmed that Dante, Nero, Vergil, and Lady will be present. The App Store pre-order page has a December 2nd release date listed, but this should be considered placeholder since nothing official has been announced. Watch a recent Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat trailer showcasing Dante in combat below:
Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat is not the first mobile game in the series because we’ve had a version of DMC 4 on the platform years ago. Those times were different on mobile for sure, especially for Capcom. Until we get an official release date, you can pre-register for Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat on the official website here, pre-order it on the App Store for iOS here. Pre-registering nets you different rewards like gems, red orbs, potions, and more as detailed on the official website. Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat features different in app purchases like seasonal cards, gift packs, and different sets of devil gems. Devil May Cry 5 is one of my favorite games of all time so I will definitely try out Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat when it releases on iOS. What do you think of Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat gameplay from its various trailers so far?

Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd developer HoYoverse recently detailed the first major update coming to the space fantasy turn-based RPG Honkai Star Rail on iOS, Android, and PC platforms. Honkai Star Rail is a lot of fun, and today pre-installation has gone live for the game’s 1.1 update. The download size for the update is about 4.5GB on iPad and 7.5GB on PC. If you pre-install it, you will only need to do a small app update from the store when the update goes live rather than waiting to download the in-game content from within on the release date. This update goes live on June 7th worldwide bringing in an updated Herta Space Station, three new playable characters: Silver Wolf, Luocha, and Yukong, new companion missions, gameplay feature updates, and events. Watch the Honkai Star Rail 1.1 update trailer below:
To pre-install, you can click the Game Pre-Installation button on PC and then download while playing the game. On iOS and Android, tap the Pre-download resources package on the bottom left of the login screen. You cannot play while downloading on mobile so keep that in mind. Honkai Star Rail is available for free on the App Store for iOS here, on Google Play for Android here, and check it here on the Epic Games Store in addition to its regular PC version. I hope controller support added with or soon after the Honkai Star Rail 1.1 update as well. I’m also hoping it releases on PS5 soon so I can play on both iPad and PS5 as I do with Genshin Impact. Have you been playing Honkai Star Rail regularly since it launched on mobile and PC?

The most recent Vampire Survivors (Free) news was that it is being adapted into a premium animated TV series. Today, developer poncle has pushed out a new update on iOS, Android, Xbox, and PC platforms bringing in new relics, the ability to seal the Chaos Malachite relic, and many fixes. The relics include detailed maps for Mt Moonspell and Lake Foscari which happen to be both huge DLC areas. The Vampire Survivors 1.4.201 update is out now on all platforms. If you don’t see it now, make sure to refresh the store or try launching the game for it to trigger the update depending on your platform. While not mentioned in the App Store patch notes, poncle also added the ability to reset save data for those who want it.
Alongside the release of the update, poncle has showcased the Vampire Survivors Tides of the Foscari DLC music being played with the 56-piece Budapest Scoring Orchestra. Watch the video above. If you haven’t played Vampire Survivors yet, read my Steam Deck review of it here, Legacy of the Moonspell DLC review here, iOS review here, and Tides of the Foscari DLC review here. We featured it as our Game of the Week as well when it launched. You can get Vampire Survivors on the App Store for iOS here and on Google Play for Android here. Check out our forum thread here for more discussion and impressions around the game. Have you been playing it recently?

Back in November 2021, Apple Arcade added Red Games Co’s PvP brawler Transformers: Tactical Arena (Free) to the service. The real time PvP brawler has seen many updates since launching, but it recently left Apple Arcade, and was confirmed to return as a free to play title. Transformers Tactical Arena has now launched on the App Store as a free to play universal game on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS worldwide. While many games that leave Apple Arcade hit other platforms as well, the announcement from Red Games Co confirms that Transformers: Tactical Arena is available exclusively on the App Store. Watch the Transformers: Tactical Arena launch trailer below:
If you’d like to play Transformers: Tactical Arena now, you can grab it on the App Store here. The free version out now includes different tiers of Shanx as in app purchases. The game already felt like a free to play game retooled for Apple Arcade, so this standalone free release of Transformers: Tactical Arena isn’t surprising. Check out our original forum thread for the Apple Arcade version of Transformers: Tactical Arena here. Have you played Transformers: Tactical Arena before on Apple Arcade or will you be checking it out for the first time today on the App Store?
