  • Artist Sarah Bahbah’s New Book Is Her Most Profound Release Yet

Artist Sarah Bahbah’s New Book Is Her Most Profound Release Yet

    [ad_1]

Dear Love encapsulates Bahbah’s work in gut-wrenching poetic fashion. It is broken up into four main chapters: “Dear Heart,” “Dear Darkness,” “Dear Light,” and “Dear Love,” which she says are based on the human experience and follow the same journey all of her protagonists do. “Dear Heart” represents Bahbah’s coming-of-age years and features her early projects The Wild Ones and Sex and Takeout. “I was so young, and I was falling in and out of love constantly, at least what I thought was love,” Bahbah shares. As you move into “Dear Darkness,” the work gets moodier and more meaningful, a reflection of a difficult period for the artist as she entered therapy and began addressing her trauma, anxiety, and depression. “Dear Light” is the result of that process and the realization that it’s going to be okay. And finally, “Dear Love” is coming back to one’s true self and embracing all of the emotions.

“As scary as it is to have revealed so much of myself in this book, especially in the series synopsis where I break down the story behind every single photo series that I’ve done, I think it’s a risk worth taking,” Bahbah says. “I think vulnerability is a superpower, and having that to reflect on in a year from now, five years from now, 10 years from now is just going to be a really special feeling. So I did it for my younger self, and I’m doing it for my future self.”

The self-funded, self-published book is available on Bahbah’s website via a sliding-scale price format, a “pay what you can” initiative she adopted in 2020 in an effort to make her work more accessible to fans.

  • Katie Holmes Just Jolted This “Dated” Denim Trend Back to Relevance

Katie Holmes Just Jolted This “Dated” Denim Trend Back to Relevance

    [ad_1]

There was a time when the only jeans I wore were the denim trend Katie Holmes was spotted in over the weekend. But eventually, around six years ago or so, the trend fell off a cliff and was swiftly replaced by mom jeans (followed by straight-leg jeans, and then baggy jeans…). As you already know, denim trends are very much cyclical, so I think we all could’ve predicted the return of this one.

The “dated” denim trend I’m referring to that Holmes just wore is none other than cropped flare jeans. They were everywhere circa 2017 and then they weren’t, but that’s plenty of time for a denim trend to make a comeback, and given Holmes’ influence, I’d say that her wearing a pair is reason enough to predict cropped flares are coming back. And yes, denim brands are still making them, so let’s shop the best pairs, shall we?

Scroll to see Holmes’ casual cropped flares outfit (just add a sweater and loafers) and shop the pairs that I think deserve your attention.

  • Zendaya Just Wore the Purse Trend That’s So Much Fresher Than Mini Bags

Zendaya Just Wore the Purse Trend That’s So Much Fresher Than Mini Bags

    [ad_1]

I always breathe a sigh of relief when the fashion pendulum swings away from impractical trends and toward more useful ones. That’s precisely the case when it comes to tote bags, which have seemed to overtake mini bags in popularity lately—and for that I’m grateful. Call me a hoarder but I simply can’t fit everything I need into a tiny little bag. Where am I supposed to stash my full-size hand sanitizer, stuff for my dog, sunscreen, and bevy of lip balms?

Photographed in Rome today, Zendaya wore a beautiful Valentino example of the tote bag trend and I couldn’t be more obsessed. She teamed it with a pair of clogs and a sleek and simple gray wool coat. So chic. Scroll down to shop my favorite tote bags on the market right now.

  • Lukita Maxwell Is Firing on All Cylinders

Lukita Maxwell Is Firing on All Cylinders

    [ad_1]

While stepping into the comedy genre was uncharted and intimidating territory for the actress, she felt at ease playing a character like Alice. “I am not too far removed from being an angsty teenager. I’m still young and coming out of that,” she says. When we first meet Alice, she comes off as independent and mature beyond her years, but slowly, the cracks of her hardened surface reveal a young woman who is still struggling with the loss of her mother and is desperate for her father’s attention and unwavering love. As a result, Alice has had to grow up quickly and be her own support system in life, something that was relatable to Maxwell. “I think that I personally have a hard time reaching out for help when I need it,” she reveals. “Even when I know I need it, I’m stubborn about it, and I am desperate to figure it out myself.”

She may be reluctant to ask for outside help, but Maxwell is not above taking cues from those around her. With Shrinking, she was afforded an invaluable opportunity to learn from a fantastic ensemble cast, particularly Ford. According to Maxwell, the actor isn’t the type to walk around set doling out advice, but just getting to watch him work and seeing how focused and alive he is in scenes was a master class in itself. “He’s so excited to be there on set every day, and every time we had a scene, it was just a lesson of having a legend being my scene partner who is opening up so much space emotionally for me as an actor. I felt like I could really play in scenes with Harrison,” she says. Maxwell swears she played it cool around Ford, taking extra care not to geek out and ask a bunch of questions, but she admits they did bond over eating lots of snacks together—mostly frozen yogurt and pretzels—which were a staple part of their park-bench scenes.

Vanessa Hudgens Just Got Engaged in Paris and Revealed Her Classic Ring

    [ad_1]

Congratulations are in order: Vanessa Hudgens and baseball player Cole Tucker are officially engaged! She announced the news on Instagram and shared a couple of romantic photos from Paris, including a close-up look at her ring. “YES. We couldn’t be happier,” she captioned the post. The cute couple has been dating for a little over two years.

Her engagement ring is the definition of timeless: a large solitaire rectangular diamond on a slim gold band. Sleek and simple, it doesn’t get any more classic than that. Oh, and can we talk about that backdrop? Nothing screams romance like the Eiffel Tower, after all. Scroll down to see Vanessa Hudgens’s engagement ring reveal.

Jennifer Lopez Just Wore the Color of the Season With Leggings

    [ad_1]

After her Gucci-clad Grammys appearance, Jennifer Lopez is back in leggings, and per usual, she’s keeping things trendy. This time, it’s via 2023’s It color (so far), and it’s a pretty one. And because J.Lo is never one to phone it in, she wore it head to toe.

If you scrolled ahead, you saw that the color trend in question is cerulean blue (AKA aquamarine, turquoise, or electric blue). The color, which graced the S/S 23 runways of Victoria Beckham, Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, LaQuan Smith (and many more), is undoubtedly picking up where kelly green left off. Lopez got the memo, as she wore a pair of printed leggings with a cozy sweater, all in shades of aqua. We found her exact sweater, which is majorly on sale, in addition to a few other pretty blue pieces. Scroll to shop it all for yourself.

  • Kate Middleton Unintentionally Found the Most French-Girl Way to Wear Sneakers

Kate Middleton Unintentionally Found the Most French-Girl Way to Wear Sneakers

    [ad_1]

Kate Middleton doesn’t wear sneakers for public appearances all that often, but when she does, it’s noteworthy. Her sneaker outfits are a reliably good source of styling inspiration, as they’re always polished. If your style is classic, you can’t go wrong with copying Kate Middleton.

While visiting a school today in the UK, Middleton wore an outfit that, in addition to being classic, had a French girl twist. That’s thanks to the tweed blazer she opted to wear with it (p.s. It’s from Zara!). Middleton wore the white blazer over a white T-shirt, paired with cropped blue trousers and sneakers by one of her (and French girls’) favorite brands—Veja.

If I had to guess I’d say that at least 50% of French women own some sort of tweed blazer or jacket, as they make everything look chicer (sneakers included) and they give off that Chanel vibe we all know and love. With that, scroll to shop Middleton’s French girl-inspired look, as well as tweed blazers and jackets for your own sneaker outfits.

  • According to Experts, Hailey Bieber’s $220 Sneakers Were the Year’s Most Popular

According to Experts, Hailey Bieber’s $220 Sneakers Were the Year’s Most Popular

    [ad_1]

Surprise, surprise: Hailey Bieber wore something that everyone wants, and this time, I’m not just saying that—I have the data to back it up. On Tuesday, the model posted a slideshow on Instagram that displayed her posing outside in L.A. wearing a vintage jersey-style tee from Springy Jeans, a 23 Lux leather bomber jacket, red socks, and a pair of blue sneakers from the fastest-growing sneaker brand of the year.

To be specific, Bieber is wearing a blue-and-red pair of XT-4 Low-Top sneakers from Salomon, a French sportswear brand that received fashion’s official stamp of approval in recent years, with sightings on the likes of Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski and placements on the runway at Sandy Liang’s spring/summer 2022 and MM6 Maison Margiela’s spring/summer 2023 shows. This transition away from strictly practical, sports-driven footwear has led the brand to skyrocket in popularity at the luxury sneaker reseller StockX, where Salomon saw a jump of more than 2,000% (2,277% specifically) in year-over-year trades, according to the brand’s 2023 Current Culture Index

With such rapid growth in popularity, though, arrives the issue of sell outs, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a brand more commonly sold out than Salomon. And yet, Bieber’s exact pair is miraculously still available in plenty of sizes for both men and women at Saks Fifth Avenue—for now. Below, shop the style while you still can.

  • 5 TV and Film Performances You Don’t Want to Miss

5 TV and Film Performances You Don’t Want to Miss

    [ad_1]

“What should we watch?” This question consumes us more than we care to admit. With the copious amount of content available at our fingertips these days, it’s no longer a simple inquiry. It’s the cause of our endless scrolling on streaming services in search of that next drama that will keep us on our toes or a comedy to turn the mood around. It’s also why we set out to weed through all the noise and bring you a curated list of our favorite projects and performances. Our quarterly Ones to Watch portfolio does the hard work so you don’t have to.

This winter, we have our eyes on some stellar talent in a wide variety of projects. There’s the noteworthy newcomer in the Oscar-nominated adventure film Avatar: The Water of Water; the fresh face dishing up serious laughs and nostalgic ’fits in the That ’70s Show reboot, That ’90s Show; the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art graduate stepping into a young Lady Danbury’s very stylish shoes in the highly anticipated spin-off prequel Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story; the 21-year-old rising star who uncovers a supernatural secret that will change her life in the Paramount+ drama Wolf Pack; and the NYC native set to have a breakout year, starting with her official feature-film debut in the indie comedy God’s Time

We can’t say enough great things about each of these fantastic performances, so in an effort to get to know the actors behind them a little better, we caught up with each to talk about their current roles, the scripts that ignite their passion for the craft, and their fashion must-haves.

    WHO: Arsema Thomas

WHAT: While audiences fell fast and hard for the passionate, albeit complicated, love stories of the Bridgerton family in the eponymous Netflix show, there was another character that quickly became a fan favorite: Queen Charlotte. Dignified and commanding yet a true softy and romantic at heart, she is at once aspirational and relatable. So how did she become the influential, gossip-loving royal we all know and love? We will find out when the prequel spin-off—Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story—arrives this spring. While plot details are still being kept tightly under wraps, we do know the limited series will focus on young Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence. And given her long-standing friendship with the insightful Lady Danbury, we will be treated to her early story as well. Cast in the role of young Lady Danbury is newcomer Arsema Thomas, who made her feature-film debut last year in Redeeming Love. The Netflix series marks the actress’s first TV project, and we can’t wait to see what she brings to the sharp-tongued character.

I think audiences are really going to love Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story because… It tells the story of the matriarchs, the true catalysts of the Bridgerton world. QC really exposes the truth, politics, and the battleground that allows the Bridgerton series to even exist in its world of all things romance, balls, and gossip. It’s also going to be intriguing because this is the story that no one really knows because it exists outside of the books.

The parts of Lady Agatha Danbury that I relate to most are… Her persistence and tenacity but also the lewks. She doesn’t understand “no” as an answer because all her life she has received that same answer, and she knows that if she listened to it, she would be lost. I relate so much to this because I am also driven by a similar fear that if I don’t succeed, I will fall into the abyss of failure, an unforgiving binary that many Black bodies live with. So when people say, “You can’t” or “No,” I have no choice but to ignore them. But her nonverbal weapons are her outfits. She, like me, flirts with masculine and feminine shapes to signal her defiance of the rules. And if I didn’t relate to it before, I do now.

An Agatha Danbury look from this show that is not to be missed is… Her two-piece look when she faces down Princess Augusta. This look was inspired by vintage Chanel and is a nod to the power suit, which I grew up watching my mother wear. It’s a beautiful moment where Agatha calls upon her clothes to give her the confidence that wavers in the face of the dowager.

The types of scripts/stories that make me feel excited to work in this industry are… The scripts that have dialogue that read almost like poetry. The words almost seem to fall out of the character’s mouth with organic ease—I love those! But these moments of dialogue in stories that challenge the audience. I love stories that make you question what you believe or want, where you empathize with the villain and see your faults in the hero.

Outside of acting, some of my other passions include… Painting large-form abstract faces. I started when I was a kid because I had such a frustrating time putting my thoughts and emotions into words. I also love whipping a meal together, using convoluted ingredients in simple dishes or reviving leftovers one last time. And if I’m cooking, then I’m definitely listening to a playlist I have made for the specific dish. There is something therapeutic about crafting a well-oiled playlist that I probably won’t listen to again. But above all, I am obsessed with reading. It’s been what gets me through difficult periods of depression or boredom. Granted, there are more books that I haven’t finished than I have. Maybe it’s the smell of new books that is my passion rather than reading them.

If you catch me off duty, chances are I’m wearing… My favorite pair of black-and-red high-top Air Force 1s, my waist beads, men’s cargo jeans, an oversize T-shirt with Assata Shakur’s face on it, a bright-pink wig, and a black bandana.

When it comes to fashion, I’m a total sucker for… A charity-shop jacket (somehow, the coolest ones I find are always from charity shops, and many of the managers in my neighborhood already know me by name), Nigerian brass jewelry, and controversial graphic T-shirts.

My winter wardrobe would not be complete without these three pieces…

This might be the greatest collaboration in my millennial mind. It’s Black owned and reasonably priced, and I just feel really proud when I wear them. Not to mention, they feel like I am sinking in clouds. Telfeezy for the win. I usually pair them with a loose pair of men’s-cut jeans tucked in, a casual black hoodie, and a motorcycle or racer jacket. It brings a softness and androgyny to a normally masculine shape. It’s also just a classic nod to the 2000s era in a chic, modern way.

I usually wear my hair in braids, and this is a cozy way of keeping my head unfrozen. Plus, it is a big nod to the Black men in London (the mandem) and is my tie to that community. I feel thugnificent. It also brings a pop of color when paired with a sleek monochrome black outfit. Think Matrix, early 2000s, and this little fun addition, or it could be part of a truly Barbiecore winter look.

This is my favorite sweater of all. I bought it at one of the best concerts I went to last year, Some Nights I Dream of Doors by Obongjayar. It’s also so warm, and there is a vibrancy in the color and graphic that makes it an easy staple that goes with everything. Every time I wear this sweater, I can hear that amazing album in my ears, and it makes it special. Its cut means that I can easily be more masculine and wear it with some baggy jeans, and it’s complementary, or I can pair it with a tennis skirt and an oversize jean jacket and some platform boots and live my best femme life.

    WHO: Callie Haverda

WHAT: Hello, Wisconsin! Netflix has taken us back to our favorite Point Place basement in the That ’70s Show reboot we didn’t know we needed, That ’90s Show. Come for the nostalgia—original cast cameos, Red and Kitty’s quippy one-liners, and, of course, “the circle”—but stay for the fresh cast of newcomers, who are excellent. Set in 1995, the 10-episode sitcom introduces us to an unlikely group of friends, this time led by Leia Forman, the daughter of Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon). Playing Leia is 15-year-old Callie Haverda, who is delightfully charming and funny as the bright-eyed, adventure-seeking teen. Although Haverda wasn’t born yet when the original series started airing in 1998, it’s clear from the first few episodes that she has the timing and wit to introduce the beloved show to a new generation.

That ’90s Show is a fun watch for those with nostalgia for That ’70s Show, but it is also… A great way to connect old and new generations. I hope that longtime fans will feel happy seeing their old friends on-screen, but I expect that a new wave of teens will be able to connect with our show. It’s full of comedy and goofy moments but also a lot of heart, which I think kids today will be able to relate to.

What I’ve enjoyed most about stepping into Leia Forman’s shoes is… Literally stepping into her shoes! The wardrobe was so fun to wear. My first time at the studios we filmed at was for a fitting. A lot of the stuff we wore was authentic ’90s fashion, and I feel each fitting was a learning experience. When I put on Leia’s clothes each morning after multiple days of rehearsals, it was like I was truly traveling back in time and becoming her fully.

A ’90s culture or fashion trend I can get on board with today is… Slip dresses! I don’t think my closet is complete without one. Not only are they super comfortable, but they’re also extremely versatile. Put one over a shirt or under a flannel with a pair of Dr. Martens, and you can wear it to pretty much any event.

The types of scripts/stories that make me feel excited to work in this industry are… Ones that affect me when I read or see them. As a creator, my biggest goal is to make the viewer feel something, whether they can relate to what my character is going through or they are moved simply by the words and performance. I know it’s what makes me truly love the work I do.

Outside of acting, some of my other passions include… Writing, archaeology, watching films, and fashion. I’m sure there are more things that spark up every day as well. I’m a very passionate person about a lot of things!

If you catch me off duty, chances are I’m wearing… Flared pants. There are so many different types as well that I like, especially the flared cargo pants. I like them low-waisted, with pockets, any color you can think of, and, most of the time, super comfortable. I wear platform shoes with them, like my Mschf Gobstompers. I also love to wear overalls, but I need more pairs.

When it comes to fashion, I’m a total sucker for… Shoes and sweaters—my two biggest weaknesses. I have bins of sweaters I’ve collected over the years, and my closet floor is covered with shoes. I love big, chunky clogs, and for both fashion pieces, I love weird, nostalgic designs on them.

My winter wardrobe would not be complete without these three pieces…

This [coat] gets me so many compliments every time I wear it! It’s incredibly soft, faux fur, and has cute little designs etched into the sleeves that aren’t highly noticeable, so it goes with anything.

Hand warmers and leg warmers. I have a ton of different ones, but honestly, a pair I got from Amazon has been super fantastic because they fit my hands perfectly. I always go for fingerless gloves because regular gloves make my hands itchy.

My third essential is from LoveShackFancy. I don’t ski, but this ski bib is a must-have. It has a variety of pockets, it’s super comfortable, and honestly, it doubles as overalls. The floral pattern is stylish without being overwhelming and is really warm.

    WHO: Liz Caribel

WHAT: This may be the first time you are hearing the name Liz Caribel, but it certainly won’t be the last. On February 24, the NYC native will make her debut in the indie film God’s Time, a wild cinematic ride that follows friends and recovering addicts Dev (Ben Groh) and Luca (Dion Costelloe) as they embark on an adventure through NYC in order to stop Regina (Caribel), the woman they are both in love with, from committing murder. Caribel is captivating in the role, which earned her the Special Jury Mention for Best Performance in a U.S. Narrative Feature at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival. But that’s not all. Caribel has a slew of buzzy projects coming up, including HBO’s new Sam Levinson and The Weeknd series The Idol, the television thriller Ellen, and Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut, Pussy Island.

The God’s Time script really spoke to me because… It felt familiar. Regina reminded me of the character I performed in the first play I did in college: Veronica from Motherfucker With the Hat by Stephen Adly Guirgis—one of my favorite plays ever. The characters in MFWTH sounded like the streets I grew up on in NYC, which was a breath of fresh air for a theater student like myself at the time, and instantaneously became a piece of art I couldn’t live without. Once I read Regina’s monologue audition back in August 2020, I said to myself, “I know this woman.”

Playing a character like Regina, I learned… Representation is real. It changes people’s lives. We have a gift at our fingertips with storytelling. We form narratives that live on for generations. Regina was a strong character that taught me to never shy away from being who you are. She was who she was, and I loved her for it. She also taught me to be aware of the fact that women don’t just exist to further a man’s story. Women simply exist. Playing Regina on-screen was truly a remarkable experience.

What I can tell you about my next project The Idol is… I’m genuinely unrecognizable. New challenge: Let’s do Where’s Waldo?, but it’s Where’s Liz Caribel?

The types of scripts/stories that make me feel excited to work in this industry are… The kinds of scripts of which its words sound like poetry. The sort of truth that’s hard to listen to. The kinds of stories that force you to accept life as it is. The types of scripts that help you understand someone a little more. The kinds of stories that create three-dimensional, flawed, lovable human beings. The social-commentary kind of stories. I can go on and on and on, but you get the gist.

Outside of acting, some of my other passions include… I like to sing sometimes, but don’t tell anybody. Reading is my favorite escapist hobby. I’m mostly passionate about anything that has to do with nature and understanding the existential presence of the human experience. “What does it all mean, and why?” are questions I like to ask myself consistently.

If you catch me off duty, chances are I’m wearing… A cropped puffy vest, a graphic T-shirt (you must roll up the sleeves), some high-waisted jeans or high-waisted trousers, and some nice, clean sneakers. Always take care of your sneakers. Oh, and you can’t forget your rings, watch, necklaces, and earrings. Jewelry is important.

When it comes to fashion, I’m a total sucker for… Snakeskin booties (or any booties) and a pop-of-color purse. Truly, I’m a sucker for snakeskin.

My winter wardrobe would not be complete without these three pieces…

You can dress it up or down. Regardless, your ’fit will be fire with this in your closet.

I’m all about comfort and shape. I would wear these with the Chelsea boots! Have some nice white socks scrunched up, tuck in the sweats to the socks, and match with your favorite cozy sweater.

You can pair these with anything. I love the versatility. Whether with a cute black dress or some jeans, it’ll never let you down.

    WHO: Trinity Jo-Li Bliss

WHAT: Avatar: The Way of Water faced a lot of questions going into its December premiere. Could it match the success of its predecessor after all these years (13, to be exact)? Would it live up to the immense hype? Do people still care? The answer, it turns out, is a resounding yes! The first of four planned sequels in the Avatar franchise directed and produced by James Cameron has grossed $2 billion worldwide, making it the fourth highest-grossing film of all time, not to mention a strong award-season contender. The Way of Water picks up 14 years after the events of the first film when the Na’vi repelled the human invasion of Pandora. When a familiar threat makes its return, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) must fight to protect their young family and the future of Pandora. In addition to spectacular advances in technology bringing forth stunning visuals, The Way of Water introduces a new young cast, including Trinity Jo-Li Bliss playing Jake and Neytiri’s youngest child, Tuk. The rising star is not just a standout on-screen. She’s also been making quite the impression during the film’s press tour, wearing looks from Jonathan Cohen, Staud, and Ralph & Russo, to name a few.

Joining the Avatar film franchise in The Way of Water and working with director James Cameron was… A dream-come-true moment! I was already a big fan of Jim after watching his record-breaking Mariana Trench dive before auditioning or even knowing about Avatar. A few months into the audition process, I met him at Manhattan Beach Studios and, thereafter, spent almost 18 months filming The Way of Water. I’m so lucky to have him as the first director with whom I’ve worked. He inspires me to never stop learning, stay true to myself, and be kind to our planet.

Tuk is a dream character to play because… She is a mix of who I am and who I want to be. We are both the youngest of our family, we both have a bit of FOMO, and we both love our family so much. I want to be as brave as her. I am a scaredy-cat at times. I don’t even watch horror films, whereas Tuk has no fear—a lot like her dad—and says in one scene, “Are there any dead bodies up there?!”

One of my favorite parts of the Avatar: The Way of Water press tour has definitely been… Seeing the adult cast and young cast and Jim and Jon again. It was crazy reuniting with everyone and realizing the whole young cast have become adults—except me!

The types of scripts/stories that make me feel excited to work in this industry are… Adventures and comedic horrors. Ha ha. See, although I am a scaredy-cat at times, I want to play characters that are not a scaredy-cat. I am a sucker for the craziest roller coasters that many of my friends who are super brave cannot take. So who knows?

Outside of acting, some of my other passions include… Music. I am a singer-songwriter and just released my debut album, Confessions of a Preteen. As crazy and scary as it can feel, I consider it very brave of me because there is no character to hide behind. The words and thoughts are mine. I’m showing the world who I am and my life through my music.

If you catch me off duty, chances are I’m wearing… My favorite sweatshirt and sweatpants by Zadig & Voltaire. My favorite quote by Serena Williams (“The success of every woman should be an inspiration to another”) is embroidered on it. I feel inspired and empowered in it.

When it comes to fashion, I’m a total sucker for… Shoes! A nice pair of boots or sports shoes complete my daily look and add so much fun to it. I cannot live without my Dr. Martens, platform Converse, black running shoes, and white tennis shoes. I also really love this pair of platform ankle boots from Haus of Honey.  It is like 3.5 inches of heel after subtracting the thickness of the platform. I was surprised by how stable and comfortable they are. I feel so badass and confident in them! I am expanding my shoe collection to add heels now that I know how to wear them.

My winter wardrobe would not be complete without these three pieces…

I just feel so invincible in this jacket with a pair of beaten-up Dr. Martens. And my Ugg handbag is a perfect addition to the look. When it is a sunny day, I put on my favorite T-shirt underneath, and when it is a chilly day, I put a tight-fitted sweater underneath. When it is super cold, I just throw a lovely colorful scarf on top.

I love these jeans because they are so comfortable and look so good with everything. They are perfect with the Ugg handbag and the utility jacket—wouldn’t you agree?! I also love to pair these with an oversize hoodie or sweater. It goes so well with Dr. Martens and Converse.

It is the perfect size to stow essentials. I go everywhere with it. It takes my phone, hair clip, lip balm, sunscreen, hand lotion, and the mask! It pairs with most of the winter puffers, jackets, and even workout looks. And it is easy to clean!

    WHO: Bella Shepard

WHAT: Paramount+ is going all in on werewolf dramas this winter. Late last month, the streaming service simultaneously premiered Teen Wolf: The Movie and introduced its newest series Wolf Pack. We have to admit we’re quite excited about the latter, which is an adaptation of Edo van Belkom’s book series. Not only does the show mark the return of Sarah Michelle Gellar to the supernatural genre, but the story about two teens whose lives are changed forever when they discover a secret that connects them is also gripping, to say the least. We’ve got our eyes on series lead Bella Shepard, who—after appearing in season one of the Prime Video series The Wilds in 2020—is taking on the role of Blake Navarro.

With a show like Wolf Pack, audiences can expect… Action from the first moment on! It is set during a crisis and takes the viewer along for every moment. It’s really beautifully filmed as well and cinematically looks more like a movie than a TV show.

I was drawn to my character Blake because… The whole script really drew me in, but Blake especially because she is strong, and although she is dealing with significant issues in her life, she never comes across as a victim. She’s straight-shooting, sarcastic, and even though she initially has some walls up, she learns the value in letting people in and allowing herself to be vulnerable.

Working alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar, who is an icon of the supernatural genre, was… Completely surreal. She’s one of the most supportive, genuine, and talented people I know. She has been the best mentor. I love seeing strong kick-ass women in this business, and she’s one of them.

The types of scripts/stories that make me feel excited to work in this industry are… Scripts with really deep characters and a strong story arc.

Outside of acting, some of my other passions include… Art, music, fashion, makeup, and my animals. I have four dogs, two guinea pigs, two bunnies, a hairless cat, and a parrot.

If you catch me off duty, chances are I’m wearing… I have so many different aesthetics. You might not recognize me day-to-day. However, you may always catch me in my platform Jeffrey Campbell [shoes] or my Demonias because I’m 5’2” and like the height.

When it comes to fashion, I’m a total sucker for… Shoes! I’m such a shoe girl. The simplest outfit can be made more complex with the right shoe.

My winter wardrobe would not be complete without these three pieces…

My Vivienne Westwood purse. [It’s] classic, and I adore her style. I was sad when I heard of her passing.

My grandpa passed down a vintage leather bomber that I wear religiously. I wear it with everything from skirts to jeans. You can’t get my grandpa’s jacket, but it’s similar to this.

And finally, my Warby Parker glasses. I have worn glasses for most of my life, and I love changing up my look with new styles.

  • Reformation Is Officially Bringing Back This ’90s Shoe Trend

Reformation Is Officially Bringing Back This ’90s Shoe Trend

    [ad_1]

By now, fashion lovers all know to expect a surge in florals for spring, but the designers at Reformation have taken it one specific step further: footwear with daisy details.

Focusing on a single flower, the humble daisy, is a smart choice since it aligns with the retro ’90s trends that have made a major comeback as of late. The simple flower motif harkens back to simpler times when one would spend hours flipping through pages of the latest Delia’s catalog and collaging with images from stacks of fashion magazines. Today, we have moved on to endless e-commerce tabs and digital vision boards, but the ethos remains the same: the 1990s were a powerful decade for fashion.

Ahead, shop a few fun pairs of shoes with daisy details, plus more fantastic footwear available now at Reformation. And, if you love the ’90s look but daisies aren’t your thing, don’t worry—there are plenty of throwback styles to quench your thirst for nostalgia.

  • These $12 Lashes Were Megan Fox’s Secret Weapon at the Grammy Awards

These $12 Lashes Were Megan Fox’s Secret Weapon at the Grammy Awards

    [ad_1]

In the year of our lord 2023, no one has Old Hollywood–style glamour down quite like Megan Fox. Time and time again, the actress proves that she is the reigning queen of bold lipstick, defined cat eyes, and perfectly coifed waves, though she always gives her own spin to the bombshell beauty.

For the 65th Grammy Awards, Fox may have been dealing with a broken wrist and a concussion (per her Instagram post) but she didn’t let that stop her from serving some major looks. With her hair in expertly arranged bends, a just-glossy-enough nude lip, and perfectly smoked-out cat eyes, the star essentially nailed the formula for head-turning glam.

One of the most defining aspects of her look? Lashes for days. When I saw Fox’s lashes, I immediately needed to know what falsies she was using, and was pleasantly surprised that they were Kiss lashes, a cult-favorite drugstore brand. Priced at just $12, anyone can try out Fox’s major lash moment for size. Plus, Kristina also took a walk down the drugstore aisle for the rest of Fox’s look, reaching for entirely Maybelline products for the rest of her face. Sophisticated Hollywood glamour on a budget, here we come.

  • And Now, the First 37 Mango Items I’m Shopping in 2023

And Now, the First 37 Mango Items I’m Shopping in 2023

    [ad_1]

Last summer, when Mango launched its premiere line Selection, I was all over it. Wool miniskirts with matching menswear-inspired coats, chrome-toe pumps, waistcoat suits, and more—the collection included everything I wanted to buy at the time, and though the price tag was slightly higher than Mango’s standard range, the pieces had the quality to back them up. Now, just in time for spring, the Spanish brand’s gone and done it all over again.

Selection’s second collection arrived early this week and is already showing signs of one-upping the first. Those Miu Miu-inspired knee-length, low-rise, pleated skirts that everyone and their sister is scouring the internet for? They’re in there. Metallic accessories, including a $100 pair of Mary Jane ballet flats? They’re in there. Sheer lace, chunky silver jewelry, floor-length slips, and super-strappy heels all, too, made the cut. In less words, for the second time in a row, Mango’s dropped an offering full of all the pieces I want at the moment. And I get the feeling that I’m not the only one.

Scroll down to shop the first Mango items I’m shopping this year.

  • Exclusive: Lawless Turned Its Cult-Favorite Lip-Plumping Formula Into a Balm

Exclusive: Lawless Turned Its Cult-Favorite Lip-Plumping Formula Into a Balm

    [ad_1]

“I saw the round shape of the pot sticking out of my husband’s back pocket in his jeans,” says Annie Lawless, founder and CEO of Lawless Beauty. “It was a lightbulb moment that we needed to create something that brings all the treatment benefits of lip mask in a convenient, on-the-go format.”

Like the rest of the Forget the Filler Line, the lip balms also contain Maxi-Lip, Lawless’s signature ingredient. Maxi-Lip is a natural peptide that has been clinically proven to aid in collagen stimulation. “It was shown to increase collagen synthesis in vitro by 351%, improve lip condition by 100%, and it improved softness and comfort of the lips by 70%,” says Lawless.

In other words, Maxi-Lip helps you get amped-up, pillowy-looking lips sans injections. “Lip filler is all the rage,” says Lawless. “I personally have never had it. But I won’t lie, I like the look. I’m just too scared to get needles in my lips.”
