  • The Travel Outfit That Combines Comfort and Style, According to Emilia Wickstead

The Travel Outfit That Combines Comfort and Style, According to Emilia Wickstead

    [ad_1]

Emilia Wickstead may be based in London, but her true roots are in New Zealand. Wickstead was born and raised in Auckland, so her new partnership with Air New Zealand makes perfect sense. She’s teamed up with the airline to design new uniforms for more than 5000 employees, including cabin crew and pilots. The final designs won’t be unveiled until late 2024, but I got the scoop from Wickstead herself on what to expect.

“My work draws inspiration from tradition but always with a modern twist, so we are using clever design details to differentiate roles and responsibilities and to subvert expectations,” Wickstead told Who What Wear. “Poignant references to New Zealand’s cultural heritage will also play a role. New Zealanders are known for being grounded and humble, but there’s a deep sense of ceremony and occasion that runs through the culture, which extends to dressing up—we’ll be playing on this in the design of the uniforms.”

On the topic of travel, I also wanted to ask Wickstead about her go-to airplane outfit that combines style and comfort. “I like to travel in a pair of my tailored trousers and a knitted sweater,” she told me. And when it comes to packing, even a frequent traveler such as Wickstead admits to falling short of her aspirations. “I try to be a minimalist packer but always end up packing too much!” she told Who What Wear. “For women, I always think a great dress which can take you from day to night is a failsafe item to pack.” Who could argue with that?

  • 19 Rare Finds From My Secret Source For Discounted Prada, Miu Miu, and Bottega

19 Rare Finds From My Secret Source For Discounted Prada, Miu Miu, and Bottega

    [ad_1]

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve tried to curb my impulse shopping and stick to the old quality over quantity adage, which allows me to splurge on more designer pieces that I would if I were just buying everything that struck my fancy. That said, the sticker shock for designer goods is real (and retail prices continue to rise), so I try my best to not pay full price, which brings me to Italist

In case you’re not familiar, Italist is a genius site that sells designer goods at the Italian retail price, which is usually 30%-40% less than retail prices around the world. The goods ship directly from Italy for free, arriving in 2-4 days. Not only that, the designer items in question are current season, so you’re not just shopping for unsold last-season pieces that are being unloaded. Currently, there are tons of F/W 23 pieces to choose from. (Did I mention that on top of the already discounted prices, they also have frequent markdowns?)

Among the vast inventory you’ll find tons of Miu Miu, Gucci, Prada, Loewe, Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, Khaite, Alaïa, and hundreds more brands to choose from. Scroll to shop some of my favorite pieces if you want to avoid getting very overwhelmed by the many jaw-dropping options.

If You Were Wondering What Phoebe Philo’s Collection Looks Like IRL, Click Here

    [ad_1]

If you’re at all interested in fashion (which is expected given what you’re reading RN) and were anywhere near Instagram last week, I assume your feed was as inundated with pictures of Phoebe Philo’s debut collection—full of scarf coats, cow-hide tote bags, hand-combed trousers, and oversize eyewear—as mine was. After nearly six years of waiting, no one in the industry seemed able to control their excitement over the former Céline designer’s comeback.

Even with the extremely high price point of Philo’s first drop, most of it sold out in a matter of hours, pretty much guaranteeing that the brand’s first street-style sightings were imminent. Now, just over a week later, they’ve arrived, and no, they absolute did not disappoint. From Netherlands-based influencer Anouk Yve’s handbag styling to former Victoria’s Secret Angel turned quiet-luxury style maven Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s haul, the first glimpses of Phoebe Philo in the wild are yours for the taking below.

Selena Gomez Wore These Polished Steve Madden Flats While Out With Taylor Swift

    [ad_1]

Taylor Swift loves a girls’ night, and when she gets the crew together in NYC, they all dress to the nines—Selena Gomez included, of course. Over the weekend, Gigi Hadid, Sophie Turner, Brittany Mahomes, and Cara Delevingne joined Swift and Gomez at Bond St and we all got the requisite look at their outfits for the occasion. Gomez, in particular, went full-on fall with a belted camel sweater dress, tights, and a Saint Lauren bucket bag. But it was her chic slingback flats that caught my eye.

Gomez has been known to regularly wear affordable shoes, and this weekend was no exception. Her polished Steve Madden Steve Madden slingbacks (with just the tiniest block heel) were the perfect complement to her elegant look. And yes, they’re fully stocked in every size and come in at just $90. Scroll to shop them to complement your own wardrobe (along with a few more Steve Madden pairs that are definitely worth considering).

Saturday night brought out an exceptionally well-dressed crowd of celebrities, most of whom wore Gucci, the sponsor of the evening. Attendees included Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, Jessica Chastain, Julia Garner, Yara Shahidi, Emma Chamberlain, Laura Harrier, and plenty more A-list names. Scroll down to see what everyone wore to the LACMA Art + Film Gala.

It’s Go Time, People: Shopbop Just Restocked Its Levi’s Selection

    [ad_1]

When it comes to jeans, nobody does it better than Levi’s. Many denim brands want to act like theirs are better, and in some ways, perhaps they are. In terms of overall superiority, though, it’s hard to argue that anyone can beat a classic pair of 501 Levi’s, which is why it’s such a big deal that the original denim brand’s jeans are so affordable. Whereas most high-quality denim these days costs between $200 and $500, Levi’s are almost all in the under-$150 category. It’s kind of a miracle.

You know what else is a miracle? Finding the style you want in the color and size you want, especially from a retailer like Shopbop that can get them to your door with Amazon Prime–level shipping speed. Knowing that, you can imagine my excitement when I went to peruse its selection of Levi’s and found a shocking number of SKUs in stock. Naturally, I ran to my laptop to tell the world about it (after ordering a few restocks of my favorite pairs, of course). Scroll down to snag a pair of restocked Levi’s from Shopbop before they’re all gone.

  • Meet Vicky Tsai: The Founder Behind Beloved Skincare Brand Tatcha

Meet Vicky Tsai: The Founder Behind Beloved Skincare Brand Tatcha

    [ad_1]

There’s no denying that Tatcha has become an industry favorite in the beauty world as a skincare brand that seamlessly blends Japanese botanicals with clinically backed ingredients to rejuvenate not just the skin, but also the soul. At the helm of the brand is Vicky Tsai, who founded the brand during her own journey of soul-searching and self-discovery. During a visit to Kyoto, she immersed herself in the beauty practices of the geisha, a cultural treasure of Japan. Through their time-honored rituals, Tsai’s skin found solace and healing—a transformational experience ignited a fire within her to share these age-old secrets with the world.

Today, Tatcha stands as a key player in skincare found in massive retailers like Sephora and on the counters of major beauty influencers and creators. And while Tsai, with the guidance of geisha and cultural advisors, has built an incredibly successful and purposeful skincare brand, her path was certainly not linear. In fact, Tsai’s journey is a testament to her extraordinary persistence, resilience, and unyielding sense of purpose.

Tsai’s career initially led her to the bustling streets of Wall Street, where she worked as a derivatives trader at Merrill Lynch in New York City. Little did she know that the city she called home would experience one of the most significant events in modern history with the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center—marking an extremely pivotal moment in her life. After 9/11, Tsai reevaluated her path, looking to find more fulfilling work. Thus, she embarked on a new journey by enrolling in Harvard Business School which led her to a myriad of opportunities. She interned at SKII and ventured into the world of Starbucks in China. Later, she joined a tech startup focused on sustainability. Despite these diverse experiences, Tsai was still grappling with a sense of purpose while dealing with acute dermatitis that plagued her skin.

A decade into her corporate career, Tsai made a bold and audacious decision — to prioritize her own happiness. Armed with nothing more than a desire for change and a staggering half a million dollars of debt, she bid farewell to her job and set off on a journey of self-discovery and exploration. Listen to the latest episode of Second Life to hear how Tsai eventually found her footing in the beauty industry.

And keep scrolling to shop some of Tatcha’s best-sellers.

  • Whenever Emily Ratajkowski Wears This Popular Winter Item, It Sells Out Again

Whenever Emily Ratajkowski Wears This Popular Winter Item, It Sells Out Again

    [ad_1]

They say that the only things that are certain in life are death and taxes, but I know of another one: That Emily Ratajkowksi will be photographed wearing a variety of The North Face puffers around New York City once the temp hits 50 degrees. She’s not even in the brand’s ads—she just genuinely seems to love these jackets and has been wearing them year after year (in a variety of colors, I might add) since she moved to New York several years ago.

From where I stand, it seems that Ratajkowski is one of the big reasons The North Face puffers sell out every winter, like clockwork. She’s certainly contributed to its cool factor, and trendy retailers like Shopbop, Revolve, and Urban Outfitters stock them now. Given that EmRata just busted out one of her first puffers of the season (see below), you can expect a swift sell-out to follow across the internet. I advise shopping now if you’re in the market for one. Keep scrolling for my suggestions.

  • If Your Vibe Is Bottega Veneta But Your Budget Is H&M, This $75 Dress Is a Must

If Your Vibe Is Bottega Veneta But Your Budget Is H&M, This $75 Dress Is a Must

    [ad_1]

If you speak to any fashion editor about the dresses on their current wish list, they’ll likely bring up some iteration of a halter-neck midi dress. The style has been gaining momentum for a while now, in large part due to Matthieu Blazy’s Bottega Veneta collections, which have included the silhouette in a variety of colors and fabrications. Nipped-in waists, bubble hems, fringe details, and voluminous skirts are also features of his halter-neck frocks. Of course, an off-the-runway Bottega Veneta dress isn’t exactly within everyone’s budgets, and with the dress style in question trending right now, there isn’t a ton of time to save up. Fortunately, I just stumbled upon a $75 alt that checks off similar trend boxes without the rather large investment.

The dress in question comes courtesy of H&M’s latest fall drop and is a black V-neck halter dress with an A-line shape and a fringed jacquard-pattern skirt. Did I mention that it’s $75 and fully stocked? There’s only one catch that I can think of, and that’s the high likelihood of it selling out as soon as the masses find it hidden in the brand’s nearly 1000-item new-arrivals section. That’s why I made it extra easy to snag by linking straight to the dress below. You’re welcome.

  • The $58 Nordstrom Top I Need to Copy JLaw and Laura Harrier’s Easy Fall Looks

The $58 Nordstrom Top I Need to Copy JLaw and Laura Harrier’s Easy Fall Looks

    [ad_1]

If getting dressed every morning is the biggest stress point of your day, you’re probably just lacking a few core wardrobe pieces, items that you can grab for time and time again and style in dozens of different ways. Take, for instance, a white button-down shirt. The sleeves can be worn rolled or long, it can be tucked or untucked, layered or worn totally solo. A sweater can go around its shoulders or on top of it, and any bottoms really work as a partner, from jeans to trousers. By adding just one to your closet, you open yourself up to a wealth of outfit possibilities.

Proof of this lies in the varying ways Jennifer Lawrence and Laura Harrier were seen wearing the classic shirt style, one in New York City and the other in Los Angeles. Lawrence wore a folded-sleeve option by The Row unbuttoned halfway down and tucked into belted black trousers from the same brand for a night out with a friend. Across the country, Harrier took a more casual approach, styling her oversize button down untucked with blue jeans, ballet flats, and a navy knit that, at one point, was draped over her shoulders. She also added her go-to Saint Laurent Le 5 À 7 shoulder bag and tiny sunglasses for her Los Feliz lunch date with her fiancé Sam Jarou and their dog. See what I mean about endless opportunities?

Scroll down to see how they wore the timeless wardrobe staple and shop the $58 Nordstrom version from Topshop that I’m snatching up to recreate both of their looks this fall.

  • This Lily-Rose Depp–Endorsed Coat Trend Keeps Selling Out From Every Brand

This Lily-Rose Depp–Endorsed Coat Trend Keeps Selling Out From Every Brand

    [ad_1]

Lily-Rose Depp has such an interesting (in a good way) sense of style, so I’m always intrigued by what trends she chooses to wear. She’ll wear a Chanel tweed jacket with gym shorts and look amazing in it. The most recent off-duty outfit she was photographed in while out walking in New York City was a bit more low-key than what she usually wears, but it certainly wasn’t trend-less.

For the brisk fall day, Depp went with a pair of jeans, ballet flats, a shoulder bag, and the coat trend that everyone loses it over: a scarf coat. It can be argued that Toteme is responsible for the current popularity of scarf coats with its wildly popular iteration, but Depp’s scarf coat was a seafoam-green vintage Chanel one from 2001, proving that this isn’t the first rodeo for the coordinating trend. If you’re as into it as everyone else is (Depp included), scroll on to shop some of the best scarf coats on the market right now.

Taylor Hill Told Me the #1 Lingerie Trend to Try Right Now

    [ad_1]

As soon as Halloween is over and the calendar flips over to November, I always think of Mariah Carey’s famous “it’s time” line. What could possibly be a better way to mark the beginning of the holiday season? Well, Victoria’s Secret has an answer. The brand just launched a festive, star-studded campaign with Taylor Hill, Hailey Bieber, Imaan Hammam, Grace Elizabeth, and more. The photos feature the perfect mix of sexy lingerie and cozy, comfy pajamas for the holidays.

I got to chat with one of the campaign stars, Taylor Hill, about all things holiday fashion. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ask her about her #1 lingerie trend of the moment, and she was quick to give an answer. “We’re already seeing an early emerging trend of lingerie worn as outerwear, and I think this trend will only pick up in popularity in 2024,” Hill told Who What Wear. “It’s amazing to see women define and embrace their sexiness in so many different ways.” This means you’re officially encouraged to wear your corset with jeans, your bra as a top, and your thong with a sheer dress.

I also asked Hill about her favorite pair of PJs. “Long modal pajamas are my favorite in the winter,” she told me. “They’re the perfect way to feel cozy yet put together and I just love how they feel when I lounge around the house. My favorite is Victoria’s Secret’s Modal Long Pajama Set ($70) in the color Lipstick. It’s such a perfect color for the holidays. My sisters and I always love a matching pajama moment throughout the holiday season.”

Switching gears from pajamas to lingerie, I asked Hill about her thoughts on the sexiest new pieces from the holiday line. “The Gold Floral Embroidery pieces are glamorous standouts from the Very Sexy collection. But I also found the long glitter sets in silver and gold to be sexy in an unexpected way—I could totally see me styling these as part of my holiday party looks paired with heels.” Scroll down to shop new arrivals from Victoria’s Secret.

Kate Middleton Wore the Classic Boots That Look Good With Every Denim Trend

    [ad_1]

Kate Middleton’s classic style is always refreshing to see given how quickly the trend cycle moves in fashion. Much of what she wears are styles she was wearing 10 years ago. Sure, the royal life doesn’t allow for a ton of experimentation when it comes to fashion, but it seems as though she’s quite comfortable in what she wears and would opt for a classic aesthetic anyway. This aesthetic was on full display while out and about carrying out her royal duties today in London.

For the casual appearance, Middleton opted for a pair of straight-leg jeans with a striped sweater and a barn jacket. And on her feet was her go-to boot style for many years: Chelsea boots (by Reiss, specifically). I myself have covered Middleton’s affinity for Chelsea boots on repeat occasions. They’re not the most trend-forward of boot styles, but that’s why they’re great. From my own wardrobe experience, Chelsea boots are one of the shoe styles in my closet that I never get rid of (until they fall apart). There happen to be some very chic iterations on the market this season, so let’s go shopping.

The Priscilla Costume Designer Shares How She Re-Created Those Iconic Looks

    [ad_1]

As you mentioned, you did so much work looking at archives, looking at what has been worn. I’m wondering about how that collaboration between you and Sofia [Coppola] worked? Are there parts of the stories that had to be tweaked to show some of those moments? Or is it that the big plot points coincide with some of these iconic fashion moments organically?

They are a big part of the story, I would say, and were never added in to show them.

I feel like when he [Elvis Presley] leaves Germany in our story, it’s the very first time she’s seeing him as a public figure.

I mean, obviously, she knows he’s a public figure, but their relationship up until that point is very intimate.

Then she waves goodbye, and it’s like, now all of a sudden, he belongs to the world again. That, I think, was a very important story part.

Obviously, the wedding is important. The baby is important.

The Future Queen of Spain Wore a Symbolic Outfit That Kate and Meghan Also Love

    [ad_1]

Royal fashion fans, there’s a new kid on the block: Princess Leonor. On her 18th birthday today, the future queen of Spain attended a ceremony in Madrid where she pledged allegiance to the Spanish constitution. For the occasion, she wore a striking white pantsuit, which is not only a royal favorite but also has a hidden meaning.

White is symbolic of the women’s suffrage movement of the early 1900s. In the U.S., women were first granted the right to vote in 1920, and Spain followed more than decade later in 1931. Many prominent women have chosen to wear white for historic moments. For instance, Vice President Kamala Harris wore a white pantsuit when she became the first female VP, and ditto Hillary Clinton when she became America’s first female presidential nominee. Meanwhile, when Princess Leonor eventually ascends the throne, she will be her country’s first queen since Isabella II’s reign ended in 1868. Scroll down to see what she wore for the momentous occasion and revisit other royally white pantsuits.
