  • On Everyone’s Lips: Actress Nell Verlaque’s Thanksgiving Premiere Look

On Everyone’s Lips: Actress Nell Verlaque’s Thanksgiving Premiere Look

    [ad_1]

“I’m a huge vintage lover,” Verlaque tells us the morning after the screening. “I saw this vintage Vivienne Westwood dress, and it was black and had this giant red lip on it and some teeth out, and the lipstick was sort of dripping.” From the moment the actress saw the black minidress while pursuing a vintage fair in her native New York, she knew she had to have it. The piece happened to be sourced by one of her favorite vintage stores, James Veloria, and felt like the perfect look for a press moment. “This was during the strike, so mind you, I was very depressed and trying to manifest that the strike would be able to end before [the film came out] or that we got a deal so we could promote it,” Verlaque says. “I saw it and thought, ‘I’m just going to get it, and if I get to wear it for something Thanksgiving related, then perfect, and if not, I’ll save it for the next one.’”

You could say Verlaque manifested her next red carpet appearance in that moment. When she got the call months later from Sony that they were moving ahead with a premiere, albeit with barely a week’s notice, she went straight to her closet. “It was great to have a special piece like that,” she says, referencing the dress. “I also like throwing things together myself, so I was quite happy with the way it turned out.”

Olivia Rodrigo Just Wore the Prettiest Dr. Martens Shoes in All the Land

    [ad_1]

Olivia Rodrigo has shown that she knows a good pair of flat shoes when she sees one. On her off-duty time, she’s often photographed wearing loafers and sneakers. But the shoes she’s most often photographed wearing are Dr. Martens—from platform lace-ups to boots and everything in between. But the style she’s been wearing lately is the prettiest style that Dr. Martens makes.

On two separate occasions this month in NYC, Rodrigo has worn the brand’s 8065 style (with white crew socks and other casual pieces, I might add). Dr. Martens 8065 shoes are a pair of chunky, double-strap Mary Janes with all of the classic Dr. Martens details. The thing is, given the popularity of the Mary Jane trend, the shoes aren’t that easy to find right now, but find them I did, and on sale. Keep scrolling to shop them if you’ve been (understandably) influenced by Olivia Rodrigo.

  • Margot Robbie’s Latest Mani Is as Anti-Barbie as Possible—and We Love It

Margot Robbie’s Latest Mani Is as Anti-Barbie as Possible—and We Love It

    [ad_1]

In the past few months, we’ve become pretty accustomed to seeing Margot Robbie in various shades of pink. When you play the titular character in the Barbie movie, it’s to be expected. At the premiere for her new movie, Saltburn, Robbie walked the red carpet in a look that was practically the polar opposite of Barbie—particularly her nails.

You may or may not have heard that short nails are in right now. Everywhere we look, it seems like celebrities are ditching their ultra-long manicures for simple, short nails. Robbie not only walked the carpet with short nails, but they were also a custom shade of khaki green.

Celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik did Robbie’s nails for the premiere. To create the perfect short, rounded shape, Bachik reached for a travel kit from his own collaboration with Tweezerman. For the ultimate khaki green, Bachik mixed together two different Chanel nail colors.

The resulting manicure perfectly complimented Robbie’s sheer, corseted black dress. Clearly, Robbie is exiting her Barbie era and entering a completely new one. If we’re going to keep getting looks like this, we’re looking forward to it.

These 14 Pairs of Madewell Jeans Are on Massive Sale

    [ad_1]

Whether you’re a minimalist, maximalist, vintage aficionado, or athleisure enthusiast, odds are you have at least one pair of jeans in your wardrobe. The staple of all staples, a great pair of denim is a viable outfit option in almost any situation. Even Jenna Lyons wore jeans to the Met Gala once! But while the garment itself is undeniably versatile, finding the best pair of jeans for an individual can be much more challenging.

Unless, of course, you’re shopping at Madewell. The brand’s denim line ranges from size 24–37, with petite, regular, and tall inseams, meaning there are literally hundreds of options to try. Plus, an entire curvy collection with measurements more suitable for hourglass shapes. Once you find your favorite pair, you’ll want to buy it in multiple washes. And believe me—you’ll have at least one favorite pair that stays in your closet for years.

Currently, however, many of Madewell’s best-selling styles are on major sale—truly unbeatable prices for the cut and quality of denim used in each pair of pants. Some items automatically reflect the sale price, while other pieces require the code LETSGO for 40% off.

As a denim devotee, I’ve picked out several pairs that are still available to shop, including The Perfect Vintage, The ’90s Straight Cargos, and The Slouchy Boyjeans. Most sizes are still in stock, but don’t sleep on this major sale moment—deals on denim are rarely this good!

This Is Officially the Coat Trend of Choice for Royals

    [ad_1]

There’s nothing casual about throwing on a winter coat, especially when you’re a royal whose every outfit is coordinated to perfection. Queen Letizia of Spain and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark were spotted wearing similar styles of wrap coats, which tend to be a favorite choice for more formal events and pair perfectly with skirts and dresses.

Lately, we’ve spotted several wrap coats at a range of prices—some more affordable than others—but all undeniably chic. Whether you opt for a lighter-weight wool or want to go all-in with a luxe cashmere component, there’s a wrap coat out there for every budget, occasion, or climate.

Keep scrolling to check out elegant wrap coats that are fit for a royal, but also affordable and stylish enough for everyday wear. We recommend sticking with lighter, neutral shades, but bolder colors beyond black and blue are great options too. As is the belt. Don’t be shy about leaving it undone, especially if you’re wearing a fantastic outfit underneath.

  • This Genius Hack Will Turn Every Perfume Into a Travel-Sized Version

This Genius Hack Will Turn Every Perfume Into a Travel-Sized Version

    [ad_1]

To make your own mini perfume, the first thing you need to do is boil water so that it’s warm enough to liquify the Vaseline (you don’t need it piping hot!). Once the Vaseline is melted, spritz in some of your favorite perfume. Gendler uses four sprays, but you can make it as concentrated as you want. Mix in the fragrance, then pop it in the fridge until the Vaseline is solid again.

Once the Vaseline is solid, you can take it with you anywhere—throw it in your work bag, take it on an airplane, bring it with you on a night out. Perfume also lasts longer on moisturized skin, so this hack might also make your perfumes last longer thanks to Vaseline’s occlusive benefits. Keep reading for the perfumes we’re doing this with first.

Why Wait for Black Friday When Shopbop’s Having an Epic Sale Right Now?

    [ad_1]

Shopbop certainly isn’t the only retailer doling out discounts this week. In fact, practically every single website I’ve logged onto in the last seven days has promoted some version of a sale in the lead up to Black Friday. That said, given Shopbop’s track record when it comes to markdowns, serving up some of the best sale offerings season after season, it’s kind of a no brainer to prioritize its promotional events when they arrive. Fortunately for you, you don’t have to wait long for that to happen, or at all. Right now, Shopbop’s slashing its prices on over 10,000 items until tomorrow night and if you know what’s good for you, you’ll drop whatever you’re doing and start adding red-marked pieces into your shopping cart.

Don’t worry—I’m not going to make you look through all of those items. There’s no time for that. Luckily, I did look every last one and in the process, cherry picking those finds that simply cannot go unseen. From Beaufille knits to Tory Burch handbags, scroll down to get in on the action happening right now during Shopbop’s very limited-time designer sale. I promise, you won’t regret dedicating a touch of time on this Thursday afternoon to score a serious deal.

Katy Perry Told Me All About the “Yummiest” Fragrance In Existence

    [ad_1]

Who What Wear: How would you describe the fragrance in your own words?

Katy Perry: It’s all my favorite things: vanilla, candied citrus—it’s just the yummiest fragrance! So good you can almost taste it.

WWW: Is Devotion a daytime or nighttime scent?

Perry: It’s definitely an all-day fragrance. The citrus notes are light and bright for day, but the vanilla notes make it sexy for night, too.

WWW: What made you want to collaborate with Dolce & Gabbana? And why is this partnership a good fit?

Perry: I remember wearing this leopard print Dolce & Gabbana dress on Warped Tour all the way back in 2008, and I’ve worn them everywhere from the Met Gala to Coachella, to America Idol to my music video for “When I’m Gone.” They feel like a part of my style DNA, and I’ve always loved working with Stefano and Domenico.

WWW: What was your experience working with the brand, and on this campaign?

Perry: I’ve had such a fun experience on this campaign. When you start the relationship with three days on Capri, you can’t go wrong! I got to be on a boat for some of the scenes, and then walked all around the island, getting in some pizza and pasta along the way. It’s also been wonderful being in NYC and seeing my fans who also love Dolce & Gabbana at Macy’s!

Mark My Words: Anne Hathaway’s Shiny Shoes Are the Next Big Trend

    [ad_1]

If you’d have asked me at age eight what my favorite pair of shoes was, I’m pretty sure they would’ve been a gleaming pair of patent leather Mary Janes. Thirty years later, that shoe choice would still make perfect sense. As you’re well aware, every fashion trend comes back around, and Anne Hathaway is the latest example of the return of this particular one.

While walking through New York over the weekend, Hathaway paired a long coat and cropped jeans with a pair of patent leather Christian Louboutin loafers. Our editorial team has been buzzing about the return of patent leather pretty much nonstop as of late, and it’s worth mentioning that two of the most important It shoes of the season (Miu Miu’s Kitten Heel Slingback Pumps and Saint Laurent’s Lee Slingback Pumps) are made of patent leather.

Given Anne Hathaway’s current status as one of the most stylish women in Hollywood, I think you can trust her taste on this one. With that, scroll on to shop the season’s best patent leather shoes.

It’s not often you hear “Kardashian” and “drugstore” uttered in the same breath. In recent memory, the only occurrence we can think of is when Kendall Jenner wore a full face of drugstore beauty products to the Met Gala, but technically speaking, she’s a Jenner, not a Kardashian. Regardless, the point is that we don’t hear a lot about the famous family’s budget-friendly beauty faves (if they have any).

That’s why it was so refreshing to learn that Kim Kardashian counted on the iconic drugstore nail polish brand, Essie, for her latest manicure. Last night, she attended the Baby2Baby Gala in Los Angeles with long, square-tipped nails that were painted a stunning milky nude color. Keep scrolling to see the exact $13 shade that her nail artist, Brittney Boyce, used to create it.

How Interior Designer & Author Heidi Caillier Found Her Calling in the Industry

    [ad_1]

It might come as a surprise that renowned interior designer and author Heidi Caillier wasn’t always so sure that design was for her. While earning a master’s degree in international public health, Caillier embarked on her career at a medical clinic in the Gambia. However, upon returning to the United States, she found herself disillusioned by the administrative nature of public health roles. This disappointment ignited her quest for a fulfilling career, leading her through a multitude of endeavors, from studying acupuncture, nursing, and accounting to teaching scuba diving, practicing yoga, and even trying her hand at bartending.

Despite her diverse experiences, Caillier still hadn’t found her true calling. It wasn’t until she ventured into the world of design blogging that she discovered her passion. Through her blog, Caillier secured her first job at a design firm, ultimately paving the way for her successful career in interior design. Caillier honed her skills at notable design firms such as Jute Home and Lauren Nelson Design before venturing out on her own in 2014 to establish her eponymous interior design company. Today, Heidi Caillier Design boasts a team of six full-time employees and takes on projects across the country, with celebrity homes on the horizon. Caillier’s dedication to creating spaces that reflect her clients’ distinct personalities and lifestyles shines through in her work, making her a respected figure in the world of design.

  • This Is Already the Coolest Nail Trend of 2023

This Is Already the Coolest Nail Trend of 2023

    [ad_1]

With the end of the year on its way, there has been a noticeable shift in the types of manicures that I’ve spotted on Instagram lately. Gone are the neutral, yet pretty colors and basic shades that all the chicest women were stepping out in earlier this year and in their place, a riot of cute nail art has risen in the ranks.

As someone that always has a saved folder that’s bursting with nail designs, I have to say that I’m thrilled with this shift to embrace color and pattern for the season ahead. That being said, I’m well aware that checkerboard nails and rainbow manis aren’t for everyone, which is why I’m so excited about this emerging nail trend which I think even nail art cynics will adore: the colorful French-tip manicure.

Embracing all of the fundamentals of the timeless French mani (glossy finishes, perfectly groomed nail beds and a neutral base), this modern twist sees those classic white tips given a colorful makeover. I first spotted manicurist Harriet Westmoreland experimenting with tips slicked with shades of soft apricot or pretty lilac on her clients and since then have seen the coolest girls sharing everything from cerulean blue-topped manicures to mix-and-match tips. Let’s just say I’m totally obsessed. Swipe below to see all of the best colorful French tips nail inspiration.

I’m Impatient—25 Cyber-Month Nordstrom Finds I’m Buying On Sale and *Way* Early

    [ad_1]

Though November’s going by fast, it’s not going by so fast that it’s already nearing Thanksgiving and the epic sales associated with it. You wouldn’t know that, though, if you looked at Nordstrom’s website, which has all but been taken over by Black Friday and Cyber Monday mania. All across the site are banners notifying sale-addicted shoppers like myself of discounts, be it a markdown on coats or discounts on dresses and boots.

With so many tempting, red-marked buys being thrown in my face, I being weak to a good sale, couldn’t resist scrolling through the retailer’s current selection for Cyber Month. And while I should be ashamed of my inability to be patient and wait for the big holiday event to kick off, I’m not, because who knows what finds I’ll have missed out on by holding off for two more weeks? I simply can’t take that risk, not when the winter-ready knits, outerwear, and shoes below are at risk. Shop the Nordstrom items I’m buying on sale and extremely early below.

Blake Lively’s Classic Madewell Blazer Is Already on Sale For Black Friday

    [ad_1]

There are certain affordable brands that celebrities seem to gravitate toward en masse, and Madewell is undoubtedly one of them. One of its many celeb fans is Blake Lively, who just wore one of the brand’s best fall pieces while out in NYC. The piece she chose was Madewell’s Bedford Oversized Blazer. With its roomy fit, belted waist, and wool fabric, it’s a blazer masquerading as a perfect fall jacket. And as Lively displayed, it looks perfect with jeans and ankle boots.

Although Black Friday may still be two weeks away, some sites have already begun their sales, and Madewell is one of them. Now through November 15, the code LETSGO will get you 30% off sitewide, and that includes on Lively’s cool, classic checked blazer. And to take maximum advantage of the early Madewell Black Friday sale, I found a few other jackets and blazers that are worth your consideration. Scroll to shop before the sale wraps up.

Rosalía’s “Cherry Cola” Lip Combo Involves This Iconic Lip Tint

    [ad_1]

As a beauty editor, I love seeing celebrities experiment with different makeup looks and aesthetics rather than commit to just one. It’s for that reason that I consistently check in on Rosalía’s Instagram and TikTok. One minute, the singer-songwriter is wearing blue eyeliner with a slicked-back braid. The very next, she’s wearing glossy lipstick with wet-look waves. She seems to take an experimental approach to beauty, and I, for one, love it.

With all that said, there’s still a certain element of her beauty routine that she keeps coming back to, and that’s her signature red-brown, glossy lip. To me, it’s the perfect example of the “cherry cola” trend, in which a nude or brown liner is paired with a cherry-red lip color and topped with gloss. Lucky for me, Rosalía recently shared a tutorial on TikTok, so now I know the exact products she uses to create her take on the trend. Keep scrolling to see them all.

Hailey Bieber Just Made Leggings Look Wildly Elegant Thanks to This Shoe Trend

    [ad_1]

When Hailey Bieber wears leggings (which is a bit rare these days), she usually goes for a pair from ALO for a Pilates class. She’s really more of a baggy-pants or miniskirt girl these days, so I was surprised to see that she wore a leggings-as-pants outfit this week in Los Angeles. It was a very chic legging outfit at that, and it was far from a post-workout look.

Bieber’s daytime look consisted of a pair of Wardrobe.NYC stirrup leggings, which she paired with a black mock-neck top and an oversize camel blazer. She finished off the outfit with an oversize Saint Laurent tote bag and gold ’80-inspired earrings, but it was the shoe trend she chose that really put the look in “elegant” territory. The shoe trend was kitten heel pumps (backless in this case) by Toteme, which looked especially cool with the stirrup leggings—so cool that I think I found my new favorite styling trick.

  • Mara Hoffman on the Future of Sustainability in Fashion

Mara Hoffman on the Future of Sustainability in Fashion

    [ad_1]

After graduating from Parsons, you launched your first line, Circle by Mara Hoffman, in the year 2000. Can you tell me what that first iteration looked like, and what your design ethos was at that starting point?

When I graduated from Parsons, I was making everything by hand. It was kind of more like an art experiment. So wearable art, everything was sewn by hand, hand-dyed, batiked, beaded, and nothing was like the other. And so I began like that, making these one-off pieces.

The very first break point I had was I was bringing clothes to a friend’s store to sell on consignment, because that’s how I was paying my bills, and had a run-in with Patricia Field. And for those who don’t know, she is this iconic visionary in New York. I ran into her in this little store that I was dropping clothes off. And she liked what I had on. And she said, “Well, I’m working on this new TV show. And it’s called Sex and the City. And I would love to buy the bag of clothes that you have.” So I sold her the bag of clothes for like $250.

And then the next day, her buyers for those stores that she had in New York called me and came over the following week. And they sat on my little futon couch. And I showed them everything that I had been making in this little apartment, and they placed an order, and the order was for $5000, which was like a mind-blowing amount of money for me. And that was the very beginning.
