  • See who sold the ticket that won $3 million for a South Florida lottery player

    [ad_1]

Friday’s big draw game winner among the Mega Millions, Cash4Life, Jackpot Triple Play and Fantasy 5 draw games won almost 25 times more money than the day’s lone jackpot winner.

And, that big winner came from Broward County.

Not that the winner of Friday’s Fantasy 5 evening drawing will turn down that $122,166 jackpot. The older of that Quick Pick ticket with 6, 20, 22, 29 and 34 bought it at a Tallahassee Winn-Dixie.

At the Hallandale Beach Winn-Dixie Liquor, 1055 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd., a Mega Millions player bought a Quick Pick ticket with 11, 34, 36, 43 and 63. Though the ticket lacked the Megaball, 13, getting the five numbers with a triple multiplier made it a $3 million winner.

By the rules stated on the Florida Lottery website, a $3 million ticket must be cashed at Florida Lottery main headquarters in Tallahassee. But lottery releases have said larger tickets have been cashed at district offices. The Miami district office is at 14621 Oak Ln. in Miami Lakes, and can be reached at MIARC@flalottery.com or 305-364-3080.

  • Three Saturday lottery hits came from Miami metro, one from the Orlando area

    [ad_1]

Of Saturday’s Powerball, Florida Lotto, Cash4Life and Fantasy 5 games, only one had jackpot winners — four of them, in fact.

The Fantasy 5 midday draw came up 3, 5, 12, 14 and 29, which matched a Quick Pick ticket bought at a Winter Garden Circle K gas station, 14990 Colonial Dr. That bit of luck was worth $58,732.

The Fantasy 5 evening draw got split between South Florida Quick Pick tickets. The numbers 4, 23, 24, 32 and 33 were on a free Quick Pick tickets spit out at Hialeah’s La Bodeguita De Chacha, 4995 E. 4th Ave., and Best Value Food Store, 1040 NW 47th Ave., in Plantation. The Price Choice Food Market in North Miami-Dade at 2712 NW 95th St. sold the third winning ticket.

    Each ticket is worth $41,496.

These tickets must be cashed at the Florida Lottery main office in Tallahassee or one of the nine district offices. The closest one to the Miami-Dade and Broward locations is in Miami Lakes, 14621 Oak Ln., and is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments can be made, but aren’t required. The office can be reached by emailing MIARC@flalottery.com or calling 305-364-3080.

  • Florida Man Jailed After Trying to Cash Stolen $115K Fantasy 5 Ticket

    [ad_1]

    Posted on: January 13, 2026, 06:04h.

    Last updated on: January 13, 2026, 06:04h.

    • Man tried claiming $115K Fantasy 5 ticket; staff flagged it stolen.
    • District office verification and electronic logs helped investigators trace ticket.
    • Areeb alleged uncle gave him ticket; later admitted false claim.

A Florida man who tried to cash a winning lottery ticket worth $115,733 at a Florida Lottery office ended up in jail after officials determined the ticket had been stolen weeks earlier.

Florida Lottery, Fantasy 5, stolen lottery ticket, lottery fraud, first-degree grand theft
Jawed Areeb, above, was arrested after allegedly attempting to cash a stolen $115,733 Fantasy 5 lottery ticket at a Florida Lottery office in West Palm Beach. Investigators say the ticket had been reported stolen weeks earlier. (Image: Palm Beach County Jail)

Jawed Areeb, 26, appeared at the office in West Palm Beach on October 30 clutching the ticket for the Florida Lottery’s Fantasy 5 draw games, CBS12 reports. The six-figure payout indicates it was a jackpot-level win – likely matching all five numbers – although officials did not confirm this.

    Ticket Traced

Lottery rules require prizes over $600 to be claimed at a district office, where stricter identification and verification procedures are in place.

Because Fantasy 5 is a draw-based lottery game, tickets are logged electronically at the time of purchase rather than revealed instantly like scratch-offs, allowing officials to identify the ticket as stolen during processing.

Despite the turn of events, Areeb maintained the ticket was his. During a subsequent investigation by a Florida Lottery law enforcement special agent, Areeb insisted he was given the ticket by his uncle who asked him to cash the ticket on his behalf.

When asked to provide his uncle’s name and the address of his place of business, Areeb gave the same address from which the ticket had been reported stolen. He was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on January 3.

    Serious Repercussions

Unfortunately for Areeb, under Florida law, a lottery ticket is considered personal property, and ownership of the ticket carries ownership of any prize it wins. As a result, attempting to cash a stolen winning ticket is treated as theft of the prize money itself, not merely the paper ticket.

If prosecutors charge the case based on the value of the attempted theft, it would fall under first-degree grand theft, because the amount exceeds $100K. That comes with a maximum penalty of up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $10K.

However, such maximum sentences are imposed rarely, especially in cases involving non-violent offenses and unsuccessful attempts to obtain the money.

In 2023, a Massachusetts store clerk’s attempt to cash a $3 million scratch-off ticket she stole from a customer saw her facing multiple felony charges of larceny and fraud. But the judge went easy on 24-year-old Carly Nunes, sentencing her in February 2024 to two years’ probation with the requirement that she continue treatment for substance abuse.

  • A Publix sold a $250,000 lottery ticket. Another store had second win in 23 days

    [ad_1]

There was one jackpot win but two big winners among Wednesday’s Powerball, Florida Lotto, Cash4Life and Fantasy 5 drawings.

The Florida Lotto top prize in Saturday’s drawing will be $14 million after nobody hit the main drawing sextet of 2, 4, 43, 48, 52 and 53. But a Quick Pick ticket bought at a Naples Publix, 13550 Immokalee Rd., had the Double Play numbers — 12, 21, 29, 34, 47, 51 — and is worth $250,000.

For the second time in 23 days, Supermercados El Bodegon at 4704 Forest Hill Blvd. in unincorporated Palm Beach County sold a Fantasy 5 jackpot winning Quick Pick ticket. This time, it was for the evening draw, which came up 1, 11, 17, 23 and 31 and was worth $115,069.

These tickets must be cashed at the Florida Lottery main office in Tallahassee or one of the nine district offices throughout the state. The office in Palm Beach is a half mile east of El Bodegon, in Palm Springs at 4360 Forest Hill Blvd. and can be reached at WPBRC@flalottery.com or 561-640-6190. Appointments can be made, but aren’t necessary.

  • Publix sold Friday and Saturday’s only big money Florida Lottery jackpot winner

    [ad_1]

Two days of the major money Florida Lottery draw games produced only one big winner, someone who bought the ticket at a Publix.

Nobody won the top prize in Mega Millions, Powerball, Jackpot Triple Play (next draw: $2 million), Florida Lotto (next draw: $13 million), Cash4Life or three of the four Fantasy 5 drawings.

Saturday’s midday Fantasy 5 drawing came up 8, 13, 25, 30 and 33, which matched a Quick Pick ticket bought at a Plant City Publix, 2202 Jim Redman Pkwy. That’s a $60,090 hunk of luck.

This ticket needs to be cashed at the Florida Lottery main office in Tallahassee or one of the nine district offices, such as the one in Tampa at Centerpoint Business Park, 1911 U.S. 301 N. Like most of the offices, it’s open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments can be made, but aren’t required, at TAMRC@flalottery.com or 813-744-6134.

  • Two Florida Lottery jackpots were won Saturday, one worth $3.75 million

    [ad_1]

Saturday’s two Florida Lottery jackpot winners from the Powerball, Florida Lotto, Cash4Life and Fantasy 5 games played via Quick Pick tickets at Circle K convenience stores.

Neither won the Powerball big prize, which will be up to $570 million for Monday’s drawing.

But, lottery luck found a player whose Quick Pick ticket from the Circle K at 3225 W. Nine Mile Rd. in Pensacola had the Florida Lotto draw numbers of 2, 14, 27, 29, 45 and 53. That ticket is now worth $3.75 Million.

The $119,911 Fantasy 5 evening draw jackpot went to the person holding the Quick Pick ticket with 4, 15, 19, 25 and 28, bought at the Wildwood Circle K at 5797 Seven Mile Drive.

These tickets must be cashed at one of the Florida Lottery district offices, such as the Pensacola office at 6601 N. Davis Highway, or the main office in Tallahassee.

  • Two lottery players hit jackpots at Publix stores in Florida. Here’s where

    [ad_1]

Two lucky lottery players hit the jackpot on back-to-back nights in Florida.

The players bought Fantasy 5 tickets that matched all the numbers picked in the Oct. 7 and Oct. 8 evening drawings, making each of them worth more than $100,000, results show.

Both of the winning tickets came from Publix grocery stores. Here’s what the Florida Lottery shared about the prizes on its website and in news releases:

    • $106,751.29 ticket sold in Hernando
    • $113,722.88 ticket sold in Gainesville

The player in Hernando, a roughly 75-mile drive northwest from Orlando, won big Oct. 7. The lucky streak continued the next night when a person won even more cash in Gainesville, about 110 miles northwest from Orlando.

Fantasy 5 offers tickets starting at $1. To score the jackpot prize, a person’s ticket must match all five numbers picked in a drawing. Here are the winning numbers from the recent drawings:

    • Oct. 7: 5-26-27-30-31
    • Oct. 8: 18-19-21-24-29

As of early Oct. 9, the Florida Lottery said only the Hernando player had claimed their prize. In the Sunshine State, the winners of drawing games have about six months to come forward.

  • Did anyone win the Powerball on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025? Here’s how to check, what to know

    [ad_1]

Two winners in Missouri and Texas will split the almost $2 billion dollar Powerball jackpot prize drawn on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025. The winning numbers were 11-23-44-61-62 and the Powerball was 17.

The grand prize, one the largest jackpots of all time, rose to $1.79 billion for Saturday’s drawing with a lump-sum cash option of $820.6 million.

Two additional winners from Kansas and Texas matched 5 plus the Power Play, winning $2 million each. 18 other players matched 5 numbers, earning $1 million. The tickets were purchased in California Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas and West Virginia.

Here’s what to know if you’re a first-time player in Florida.

How to check Powerball numbers in Florida

You can check your Powerball numbers in several ways:

    • Scan the barcode on the bottom of your payslip with the Florida Lottery app or at a Florida Lottery retailer.

Is there an app to check Powerball numbers? How to check numbers online

You can scan your ticket with the Florida Lottery app and check your numbers online via the Powerball website.

How many Powerball numbers do you need to win a prize?

There are nine ways to win prizes, according to the Powerball Prize Chart:

    • Match all 5 numbers + powerball: Grand Prize

    • Match all 5 numbers: $1 Million

    • Match 4 numbers + powerball: $50,000

    • Match 3 numbers + powerball: $100

    • Match 2 numbers + powerball: $7

    • Match 1 number + powerball: $4

All lower-tier prizes are set cash amounts.

How long after winning the lottery do you get the money?

Since Powerball is a multi-state game, the Multi-State Lottery Association must collect the revenue from each of the 45 participating states before the jackpot prize can be paid. Jackpot prizes are not available until 15 days after the draw date, says Florida Lottery.

    Can Lottery winners remain anonymous?

    Not in Florida.

Florida law mandates that the Florida Lottery provide the winner’s name, city of residence, game won, date won and amount won to any third party who requests the information, according to Florida Lottery official website.

When is the next Powerball drawing?

The next Powerball drawing will be held on Monday, Sep. 8, 2025. The estimated jackpot is now $20 million with a cash value of $9.2 million.

    Lottery fever is spiking!

Will a $2 Powerball ticket make you a billionaire? As they say in the lottery business, “it could happen to you.”

After no one matched all five numbers plus the Powerball in the Wednesday, Aug. 27, Powerball drawing, the grand prize jumped $100 million overnight. Then it spiked to $950 million early Thursday, hours after the Aug. 27 drawing. On Friday, Aug. 29, a day before the Aug. 30 drawing, the jackpot rose to a whopping $1 billion.
