  • 27 Chic Ballet Flats That Will Never Go Out of Style

27 Chic Ballet Flats That Will Never Go Out of Style

    [ad_1]

It is no surprise that classic ballet flats have been around for nearly 70 years. The style was inadvertently created by iconic actress and pioneer of French-girl style Brigitte Bardot, who requested a pair of shoes as “lightweight and flexible as true ballet slippers” from designer Rose Repetto back in 1956, according to Repetto’s CEO, Jean-Marc Gaucher.

Today, the style remains as enduring as ever. While it may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of “trendy” shoes, brands like The Row, Miu Miu, Tory Burch, and more have all released new iterations of the timeless style. From croc-effect and snakeskin to classic leather and suede, there’s certainly a pair of ballet flats for everyone.

We took it upon ourselves to source the best ballet flats on the market right now. These 27 styles hail from legacy designers like Prada and Gucci as well as affordable brands like Mango and H&M. No matter your price point, these picks are stylish and timeless enough to wear for years to come.

The People Have Spoken: These Nordstrom Items Are Beloved and Chic

    [ad_1]

There’s no denying Nordstrom has become one of the go-to online stores for fashion lovers. It’s no surprise since the retailer provides an endless selection of stylish pieces that satisfy a variety of personal styles and budgets. But this large offering can naturally be overwhelming when pursuing the site, especially to the untrained eye. That’s where one handy pro tip comes in: keep an eye on Nordstrom’s abundant review sections while you peruse different departments.

Nordstrom shoppers are notorious for taking advantage of the site’s review options, which helps create a more effective shopping experience for the rest of us. Thanks to reviews, I’ve avoided ordering pieces with a bad fit, wrong size, wrong color, etc. To give you a sense of how helpful reviews can be, keep scrolling to check out 31 of the best-reviewed pieces at Nordstrom right now. I found everything from stylish printed skirts and effortless dresses to chic ballet flats and other cool basics. You’re welcome.

  • These $20 H&M Sandals Are Giving Too Strong of Khaite Vibes to Not Sell Out

These $20 H&M Sandals Are Giving Too Strong of Khaite Vibes to Not Sell Out

    [ad_1]

I’ve long been adamant about my love for heels of all kinds and my general avoidance of flats whenever possible. So, you can imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon a $20 pair of utterly heel-less strappy sandals on H&M’s website that I not only wanted but literally had to have. Minimal in shape but loud in terms of their print—the sandals are snakeskin, a trend I’ve already coined *the* animal print of 2023—the cost-effective sandals were shockingly alluring to a heel lover like me.

Naturally, I did further research in order to try and zero in on what exactly about H&M’s newest sandals caught my eye, only to remember that Khaite—one of the fashion set’s most desired labels, not to mention a personal favorite of mine—made a similar pair for spring. Though the H&M pair doesn’t feature quite as many luxurious details as the Khaite ones do, they do cost more than $700 less whilst still giving off the same overall aesthetic, so my interest in them shouldn’t be all that startling.

I’d be willing to bet that I’m not the only anti-flats fashion person with a soft spot for these H&M sandals, meaning that the likelihood of them staying in stock is next to none. Shop them while you still can below.

  • Okay, These Flat and Low-Heel Shoes From Nordstrom, Mango, and Zara Are Fire

Okay, These Flat and Low-Heel Shoes From Nordstrom, Mango, and Zara Are Fire

    [ad_1]

When it comes to my daily footwear, I’ve always preferred flats or low-heel shoes. Not that I have anything against high-heels, but considering I’m a born-and-bred California girl, the ease and comfort of a flat or low-heel just seems to agree with me on a fundamental level. High heels, in my humble opinion, are to be reserved for special occasions or a night when I’m feeling extra flirty. The numerous stylish flat offerings and resurgence of the kitten heel in recent years (I’m looking at you Manolo Maysales) has only helped my case.

On top of that, the right flats or low-heel has a kind of understated elegance that’s hard for a higher heel to compete with. I’ll never forget seeing a woman walk into a wedding in a breezy, floor length gown with simple sandals on her feet and thinking that she was by far the chicest person in the room. Suffice to say, I’ve done a lot of research recently on the best flats and low-heels out there. My biggest issue? Putting a cap on my finds, which Nordstrom, Zara, and Mango aren’t helping with. They’ve really been killing it with their flat and low-heel shoes selection, so I’ve rounded up my favorite 30 picks, just for you, dear reader, below.

Kaia Gerber Wore a Very Relatable Flat-Shoe Outfit For a Night Out in Hollywood

    [ad_1]

If there’s any celebrity that is the embodiment of the chill L.A. fashion girl, it’s Kaia Gerber. When the model and budding actress isn’t working, her style is pretty classic and casual. And while she wears a lot more designer gear than the average girl, her outfits are usually pretty relatable.

One of the main things I think of when I think of “relatable outfits” is flat shoes. And it’s not just errands in Malibu that Gerber wears them for. Earlier this week, she attended a concert in Hollywood with Austin Butler and Camila Morrone wearing an outfit I’ve seen a million times on L.A. girls: a slip dress and flats. Gerber wore a black coat with it because apparently L.A. is cold now, and she opted for trendy Mary Janes (as many other fashion girls are doing).

  • French Girls Always Wear This Jeans-and-Flats Outfit Formula

French Girls Always Wear This Jeans-and-Flats Outfit Formula

    [ad_1]

You don’t have to be a math genius to figure out how French women have perfected the outfit formula. When the goal is effortlessly chic, a staple of wardrobe basics can be mixed and matched to achieve a look that’s polished enough for any event, but also easy enough for every day.

Case in point? Michelle Williams, Montana native, and noted fashion aesthete was recently spotted in New York City wearing our favorite combination of straight-leg jeans, an oversize blazer, and Mary-Jane flats. The four-piece look, complete with a strawberry-red lip, was polished enough for her morning show appearance, while also perfectly practical for running around the city now that it’s officially springtime. Even better, you don’t need to have a Hollywood stylist to re-create this outfit at home. Just grab your favorite blazer, button-down, jeans, and flats. Roll up your sleeves, swipe on a bright lip, and you’re good to go. Easy enough, right? Oui!

If these basic outfit building blocks aren’t already in your wardrobe, then you’re in luck: we’ve pulled several pieces that can be combined to create the perfect jeans-and-flats outfit formula for anyone who wants to take French girl style for a spin—no passport to Paris necessary.

One of the hazards of being a fashion editor is the constant temptation to add all (and I mean all) the pieces I come across to my virtual cart. Such is the case every time I check the new arrivals section at Nordstrom—My latest perusal was no exception. It is no surprise, though, since Nordy consistently has a great selection of pieces land on their site every week that cater to a variety of personal styles at different price points.

This time around I was excited to find a range of lovely elevated basics including a French-girl worthy ribbed t-shirt, chic linen shorts, classic flats, and the perfect trench coat. I also came across some cool trendy pieces that are guaranteed  conversation starters like a bright matching checkered set, rhinestone boots, baggy jeans, and a sleek corset top. • I Always Wear Heels, But These Flat Shoe Trends Are Doing It for Me

I Always Wear Heels, But These Flat Shoe Trends Are Doing It for Me

    [ad_1]

I am what you might call a shoe person. I love shoes. I find them to be not only one of the most quintessential pieces in outfit building but also the most fun thing to shop for. I could sit in a luxury department store’s shoe section for hours and not get bored. (I used to work for Nordstrom, so I actually did that once, and I highly recommend it.) I especially love heels. Ever since I was younger, I would try on my mom’s heels or beg my mom to buy me a pair of heeled Cinderella shoes at the Disney store in the mall. I just thought they were the absolute embodiment of femininity, and as a 5’2” girl who’s always wanted to be taller, I wear heels whenever I can.

I’ve been wearing them since high school. I’ve gotten so good at maneuvering in heels that I could even run a mile in some, no joke. But we’re not here to talk about heels or my supernatural ability to walk in them; we are here to talk about flats. I’ll admit I’ve never really liked flats. I’ve always thought they were safe and boring, and that is the last thing I want my style to be described as. But lately, I’ve opened up my very closed mind and started spotting flat shoe trends that we’re so chic even I had to try them myself. Six trends stood out to me as ones I could totally see myself styling. I’ve officially converted into a flats lover.

Keep scrolling to see which six trends are responsible for this change of heart.

31 Pairs of Trendy Flat Shoes That Are So Good It’s Stressing Me Out

    [ad_1]

As someone who is both obsessed with shoes and wears flats far more than heels, you can trust my authority on the subject of trendy flat shoes. They’re one of my favorite fashion things—always have been, always will be.

The wild success story that is Miu Miu ballet flats has made wearing flats with anything and everything cool. Lately, you’ll find them on the feet of celebrities and fashion people, and on the runways. But when it comes to flats, the trendier the better in most cases. Heels have an inherent amount of drama but need to work a little harder to be cool. So if you prefer cool flats over basic ones, this roundup is likely to be right up your alley.

I spent hours looking at trendy flats in search of the best, so scroll away if you’re ready to shop some very chic ones. I, for one, am very tempted.

  • Gigi Hadid Wore Spring’s Biggest Flats Trend With the Pantsless Outfit Trend

Gigi Hadid Wore Spring’s Biggest Flats Trend With the Pantsless Outfit Trend

    [ad_1]

Gigi Hadid had a very busy week promoting her first season as a host on the Netfix series Next in Fashion. Between that and a few appearances at Milan Fashion Week, Hadid has worn a lot of amazing outfits lately, but there’s one that really stood out to me, as it consisted of two season-defining trends—one controversial and one very much less so.

The look I’m referring to is an all-white Malaikaraiss Berlin outfit. Instead of pants, the oversized blazer is paired with white tights. (I don’t know about you but I’m loving the colored tights renaissance.) And to make the outfit even more 2023, Hadid wore what is arguably the biggest flat shoe trend of the season: Mary Janes. In keeping with the monochromatic theme, she opted for a cream-colored pair by Aeyde. I just love it when celebrities wear comfortable shoe trends.

The Classic Shoe Trend Every Stylish Celeb Wears at the Airport

    [ad_1]

When it comes to airport style, I am all about outfits that are comfortable without sacrificing style, and the shoes are the key component for accomplishing this. Heels are a hard no in my book, as well as any other shoes that make for a complicated run through the security line. This leaves flat shoes like loafers, ankle boots, sneakers, and my all-time favorite: ballet flats. While ballet flats truly never go out of style, they are currently at the forefront of shoe trends at the moment.

I know I am not alone in this preference as evidenced by the many stylish celebrities that are spotted traveling in the timeless flat shoe style. Besides the ease, they instantly elevate even the most basic of outfits. Just don’t forget to pack a pair of socks in your carry-on to save you from a grimy barefoot walk through security.      With so many pairs to choose from, though, the options are almost dizzying, which is why we’re turning to a fashion insider and arbiter of cool flats, Sydney Engelhart. The L.A.-based stylist and consultant has been in the fashion world for over seven years—currently, she works with clients like Gabrielle Union and Zaya Wade alongside Thomas Christos Kikis and more recently has been doing creative direction and consulting for both brands and and celebs.

Engelhart has almost always had an affinity for flats and the cool outfits she regularly displays on her Instagram are a trove of styling inspiration. “There is something so feminine and polished about them without denying yourself comfort,” she explained. “I really believe in the power of a chic flat so I’m happy they are having a moment right now so I can really indulge.” The flats in her arsenal are just as good as the outfits she wears them with and Engelhart describes her everyday style as tailored and classic, insisting that comfort is key, especially for long days on set. “I’m very petite so I tailor everything. It makes the biggest difference in my wardrobe and really elevates every look,” she added.

Jennifer Lawrence Is Right: This Is the Chicest Flats Trend to Wear With Shorts

    [ad_1]

Jennifer Lawrence clearly isn’t in New York anymore (for now, at least). We know that from the green grass and the shorts outfit, she’s currently in L.A. But as far as shorts outfits go, it is reasonably winter-appropriate. The professional outfit consisted of a blazer, black tank top, and long trouser shorts. It’s the kind of shorts outfit that you could certainly get away with wearing to a business meeting. But we’re here to talk about her footwear.

Lawrence chose a polished flat shoe trend that you shouldn’t be surprised in the least to see worn with shorts a lot come spring and summer: Mary Janes. The sweet trend elevates shorts of any type—from denim cut-offs to trouser shorts like Lawrence’s—and it goes with a lot more than just shorts, as evidenced by how often Lawrence wears her The Row Mary Janes.

  • 4 Flat Shoe Trends That Are Dying Out in 2023, and What’s Replacing Them

4 Flat Shoe Trends That Are Dying Out in 2023, and What’s Replacing Them

    [ad_1]

I won’t go so far as to say that I hate them, but I’ll be the first to admit that flats have never been my thing—for a few reasons. I much prefer the bold look of heels or a platform sole to elevate an outfit and if I am going to reach for a comfortable shoe it’s more likely to be a pair of sneakers than anything else. However, I’m also not immune to the trade winds of current shoe trends. And lately they’re blowing drives of cool flats my way.

With that in mind, I recently took it upon myself to scour the internet for actually stylish flats that I would hypothetically wear, were I willing to trade in my many other go-to shoes. Deep into my trend research, I came to a realization—well, several realizations. Much to my own surprise, I found more worthy contenders than I ever would have imagined. I noticed that the more outdated flat shoes that made me a flats-hater in the first place have been slowing fading out of view and are quickly being replaced by fresher alternatives like pretty ballet flats that I’m actually into. I may have even opted into a few of these already.

Whether you’re a flats lover or a skeptic like me, you have to see the four new flat shoe trends that 2023 is bringing in and shop all the pairs I loved.

Fun fact: Nordstrom currently has nearly 1700 flats to choose from. This is both exciting and scary, if you ask me. But all of this inventory means that every flat-shoe trend you could possibly ask for is present and accounted for at Nordstrom. The tricky part is picking your poison.

If you’re in need of some new flat shoes, first and foremost, it’s wise to narrow the offerings down to the trending styles. I’ve always appreciated that flats tend to stay in style longer than other trends for some reason. For that reason, I wear them more than any other shoe style, so I don’t mind spending a little more on them, but Nordstrom also has tons of affordable flat-shoe options.

30 Ways Everyone’s Styling Flats With Dresses in 2023

    [ad_1]

When Victoria Beckham said, “I can’t concentrate in flats,” I felt that in my soul. Before it was even deemed “apropos,” I tried to walk in heels at a very young age. Like Beckham, I’ve always been an avid collector of heels and have rarely worn flats. But things have changed over the past few years, and I’ve slowly come around to the idea of pushing aside my heels occasionally for a pair of flats. In part, that shift is due to the rise of cool shoe trends (e.g., ballet flats and cowboy boots) that have made embracing this style more tantalizing. But it’s also because I’ve noticed a styling trend among the fashion set that can’t be ignored: flats worn with dresses.

As someone who loves a good dress just as much as heels, I was dubious when my feed began to be flooded with the styling trend. However, after further research, I’ve realized that styling flats with dresses is the move in 2023. And to prove that point, I’ve found 30 outfit ideas that show how to wear flats with a dress. Plus, I’ve identified the best shoe styles to wear with dresses. Whether you’re a die-hard flats fan or need to give your feet a break, these styling pairings will come in handy all year.
