30 Flat Shoes I Can Already Tell Will Be Everywhere This Fall

    [ad_1]

From dressy to casual, I think you can make flat shoes work with any outfit for any occasion—mainly because there are so many incredible options these days. I used to always reach for heels whenever I had a special event on my calendar, but with the vast array of flat shoe styles to choose from, that’s no longer the case. It explains why so many of the current “It” shoes are flats.

I think brands have finally realized that people want to be comfortable without sacrificing style. It’s a pretty simple concept and a great explanation for why there are so many good flats to choose from lately. I’ve slowly started to shop for fall and realized I’ve only bought flat shoes thus far—no heels. Between all the cool mesh flats, loafers, Mary Janes, and elegant slingbacks, there’s no lack of flat shoes to choose from and wear with everything this fall and beyond. Scroll to shop my favorites of each of the five flat shoe trends set to be popular this season.

  • My Editor Senses Are Tingling—Nordstrom’s New $60 Flats Are About to Go Viral

My Editor Senses Are Tingling—Nordstrom’s New $60 Flats Are About to Go Viral

    [ad_1]

As a fashion editor, it’s my job to predict how the internet will react to new releases, runway collections, collaborations, and more. It’s not enough to identify a trend once it has already caught on. You have to spot them early and take a chance. Well, that’s exactly what I’m doing today after noticing that Open Edit, an in-house Nordstrom brand editors love, had dropped a pair of new Mary-Jane flats in two colorways. At just $60, these shoes sent my editor senses tingling, a sure sign I’d just found a future hit.

Named Regina, the flats feature a slightly pointed toe and delicate top strap—details that immediately reminded me of other offerings I’d seen in the designer shoe section of Nordstrom’s website, where pairs by The Row, Aeyde, and Prada can be found. The big difference, of course, is that those flats go for hundreds of dollars or more, and these will only set you back $60. Or, if you buy both colors, which might have to be my move, $120.

Keep scrolling to shop Open Edit’s Regina flat before the world catches wind of this just-launched style and buys up every last pair. Trust me. You’ll regret it if you don’t.

Even Celebs Are in Their French-Girl Era—6 Ballet Flat Outfits They’re Repeating

    [ad_1]

Sometimes it can seem like certain niche fashion aesthetics are nothing more than passing flights of fancy driven by the internet’s power users. Tomato girl? Mermaidcore? Old money? But when we see a large swath of celebrities tapping into the same common theme, it has a bigger impact. This summer, the A-list crowd seems to share the same mood board. In fact, their recent outfits only confirm their shared style inspiration.

From Kendall Jenner to Katie Holmes, I can’t help but spot the same easy outfit combination on all the best-dressed celebs right now—and it’s oh-so French. It features a delicate midi dress (or full skirt and top) with pretty ballet flats and mimics a favorite we always spot on Parisian women.

Ahead, see the outfit so many celebrities are wearing on repeat this summer, and shop dresses and flats inspired by their looks.

Even before I became a mom of two, I was always on the hunt for outfit formulas that made getting ready easy without sacrificing style. There is nothing I appreciate more than being able to get dressed in ten minutes or less, especially in an outfit that’s comfortable to boot. It’s no wonder I appreciate the Scandinavian aesthetic as much as I do—The looks always have a healthy balance of the cool factor and practicality that I crave.

Enter the latest Scandi-girl outfit formula I can’t get enough of—an oversize T-shirt or button-down shirt with a long skirt and a pair of cool flat shoes like sandals, ballet flats, or sneakers.

There are many words fashion people use to describe Parisian style, including effortless, no-fuss, and chic. Elegant is another term that comes to mind, as Parisians are known for their elevated approach to style. Naturally, people in Paris turn to elegant-feeling staples to complete their looks. When it comes to elegant flats, two specific silhouettes are front-runners with Parisians due to being inherently pretty. I’m talking, of course, about ballet flats and Mary Janes.

These two beautiful flat shoe styles are versatile and can be dressed up or down. While French women will pair them with different items, dresses and jeans are their go-to picks to pair with flats.

Hailey Bieber Wore the Flat Shoe Trend That’s Going to Be Big This Fall

    [ad_1]

Hailey Bieber has been living in flat shoes this summer, and I’m 100% here for it. We’ve covered her wearing fisherman sandals, Adidas Samba Sneakers, and loafers, but the shoes she just wore out for coffee in L.A. are her most elegant style, and they’re poised to be the It flats of fall 2023. The specific shoes I’m referring to are Saint Laurent’s Blade Chain-Embellished Flats, and the trend I’m referring to is slingback flats.

Flat shoes, in general, are having a moment right now, and slingback flats, in particular, are being embraced by some of the biggest brands. The chic, elevated style is perfect for your fall and summer wardrobes, as Bieber expertly proved with her latest outfit. She paired her slingback flats with an oversize trench, cropped T-shirt, and baggy jeans. Perfection.

  • Kendall Jenner’s $160 Flats Have Been Cool For Half a Decade (and Still Are)

Kendall Jenner’s $160 Flats Have Been Cool For Half a Decade (and Still Are)

    [ad_1]

When you scroll through Kendall Jenner‘s Instagram, you never really know what side of the supermodel and reality TV star you’re going to get. One day, she’ll post a selfie dump from Paris, where her wardrobe’s been cycling between vintage Gaultier and head-to-toe The Row and the next, she’s in a bikini, de-capping glass bottles on a jetski and proving once and for all that she’s “built as an athlete.” Clearly, the eldest Jenner contains multitudes, and we love that for her.

But of all the Kendalls that we have the pleasure of digitally witnessing on a daily basis, the one I’m personally most attached to is the rustic one, when she seems to ditch many of the luxuries in her life and opt for a simpler way of living—and in turn, dressing. Fortunately for me, this is the side that Jenner just shared, posting a slideshow with the caption “peanuts and beer” on Thursday that featured her hiking in the mountains and chilling cabin-side in cargo pants, overalls, and my favorite, Birkenstock clogs. Known for being comfortable and cool—having been worn by everyone from Sienna Miller and Zoë Kravitz to Jennifer Lawrence and Mary-Kate Olsen—it’s no wonder that Jenner would grab for the nearly 50-year-old flat style during her outdoorsy travels (not to mention at home in LA, where she’s regularly spotted in the slip-ons).

See her vacation photos and shop her go-to $160 Birkenstocks below.

  • 29 Flat Shoes From Nordstrom and Shopbop That Live In Every Chic Person’s Closet

29 Flat Shoes From Nordstrom and Shopbop That Live In Every Chic Person’s Closet

    [ad_1]

In case you haven’t noticed, flat shoes are trending in an unprecedented way. Yes, ballet flats are the major player here, but loafers, sandals, and minimal slides are all also in the mix. For starters, all of these styles are dangerously convenient to slip into, and the best part is that they’re easy on the arches and balls of your feet. You can’t say that about high heels, can you? In 2023, it’s all about comfort, while still keeping things elevated, of course.

Nordstrom and Shopbop have a ton of options, from affordable styles to the luxe designer flats you’ve probably seen plenty of on your Instagram feed. Below, I rounded up 29 of the flat shoe styles that are in every stylish person’s closet. Classics like Converse, Birkenstocks, and Tevas are the mix, yes, but there are also finds from smaller brands like ATP Atelier, Tkees, and Ancient Greek Sandals that are known for delivering high quality and fashion-forward flats. Let’s just say that scrolling through all of these chic designs will make you want to book that European summer vacation stat. Scroll down and you’ll see what I mean.

Fashion People Wear These Flats With Skirts to Look Chic

Flats are often the go-to footwear for many of us because of their comfortable nature. Agree? Thought so. Plus, a variety of flat shoes are very trend-forward and instantly add a modern twist to a look. And yep, you guessed it. I’m going to focus on these said styles below. More specifically, I’m showcasing the of-the-moment flat shoes that fashion people are teaming with skirts to look chic.

The flats coming your way could be teamed with a range of items, including trousers, jeans, shorts, and dresses. But they’re particularly popular with skirts right now. The skirt silhouettes that style setters wear with different flats run the gamut, from denim to mini to maxi.

    Kim Cattrall’s Jeans-and-Flats Outfit Works Whether You’re in Your 20s or 60s

    [ad_1]

Are you keeping up with Kim Cattrell? The Sex and the City star has landed back on the NYC street style radar following news of her guest role in the iconic HBO show’s spinoff sequel, And Just Like That…

Recently, Cattrell was spotted in Manhattan toting her recognizable Santorini blue Gladstn London bag, which she paired with cuffed jeans, a light blue button-down, and white penny loafers. Could this be what Samantha Jones dresses like when off-duty? Probably not—but that doesn’t mean this easy weekend look isn’t worth stealing straight from Cattrall.

Ahead, shop similar lightweight shirts, jeans, bags, loafers, sunglasses, and belts so you can reassemble this summery outfit at home. We’ll be sticking to the blue palette shown below, but if you’re feeling bold, try experimenting with Barbie pink, Samantha’s signature red, or even earth tones. As long as the pieces stay within the same color family, it’s a pretty easy outfit formula that can be mixed and matched time and time again…just like that.

  • The Flat-Shoe Trend I’m Buying Instead of Heels This Season

The Flat-Shoe Trend I’m Buying Instead of Heels This Season

    [ad_1]

For the first time, I don’t anticipate buying any new heels. I don’t typically wear heels anyway, so flats it is for me. Luckily, one of the biggest shoe trends on the market for the upcoming season happens to be flat (well, sort of). Allow me to explain.

I’ve always been a big fan of loafers. The Gucci Jordaan loafers have been perhaps the most worn shoes in my closet for the past several years, but I’m ready for a fresh update on the classic style. My wishes have been granted thanks to Prada and its chunky-loafer It shoes and the grunge trend. I’m happy to have snagged a pair and want the warm weather to end so I can wear them on my rare outings without sweating my feet off. Prada’s loafers (which you’ll see below) have been all over my Instagram feed and have been selling out left and right, but many other brands have followed suit and gotten in on the trend themselves, which I fully support. Like the Prada ones, many styles have a lug sole or a low platform, but that doesn’t make them heels, in my opinion. I’ll gladly take the extra height, though.

Keep scrolling to see how people are styling their chunky loafers, and shop my favorite pairs at a variety of price points.

  • 10 Cheaper Alts I Found That Are Just As Good As Sofia Richie’s Chanel Flats

10 Cheaper Alts I Found That Are Just As Good As Sofia Richie’s Chanel Flats

    [ad_1]

There’s a variety of classic shoe styles to wear in the spring and summer, but slingback flats are a top contender. If you’re not someone who wants to walk in flimsy flip-flops or dainty sandals, the extra back support on a flat is probably the option for you. Popularized by Chanel with its iconic slingback, it’s the perfect shoe to look chic and still feel comfortable—since some of us may not be returning to heels so easily as either. The strap gives gentle support to your heel, so you’re not blistering with a regular flat or feeling like you have no support with an open-backed shoe.

Since it’s a very classically deemed shoe, it can be hard to find pairs that meet the lines of comfort and forward design, which is why I did the search for you. Below, you’ll find 20 pairs of slingback flats at both affordable and splurge-worthy price points. Trust me, you’ll want to wear them all season long (and beyond.)

  • I’m an Anti-Heels Kind of Girl, These Flat Shoes Will Look Great With Dresses

I’m an Anti-Heels Kind of Girl, These Flat Shoes Will Look Great With Dresses

    [ad_1]

What can I say? I simply cannot handle wearing a pair of heels unless it’s a car-to-dinner-seat situation, especially if they are over 3 inches. Thankfully, the shoe gods have blessed me with a constant stream of flat shoe trends for almost a decade now—the last few years in particular. In fact, it’s rare as of late to see many of the fashion set out in the wild in heels. It’s now all about comfy shoes that don’t sacrifice style, even in the most formal of occasions. I wouldn’t have dared show up to an event like a wedding in anything but heels some years back, but times have definitely changed.

Such is the case when it comes to styling dresses in general. There are a plethora of flat shoes that go great with just about any style of dress now whether it be for an everyday outfit or the fanciest of party looks. Below, I share 6 of my top flat shoe styles to wear with dresses this season. From sneakers to ballet flats to a variety of sandals, there is a little something for everyone.

  • Jennifer Lopez Wore the Pretty Flat Shoe Trend People Can’t Stop Talking About

Jennifer Lopez Wore the Pretty Flat Shoe Trend People Can’t Stop Talking About

    [ad_1]

Jennifer Lopez doesn’t wear flats (aside from sneakers) very often, so when she does cosign a flat shoe trend, you know it must be important. The trend I’m referring to is sheer ballet flats, which are typically constructed from mesh. Naturally, we’ve already covered the sheer flats trend here at Who What Wear (we’re fans of it). The problem is that they keep selling out because people (like me) keep talking about it. But back to J.Lo.

While out in L.A. this week, Lopez wore sheer black Christian Louboutin flats, which are now sold out, sadly. She paired them with cropped wide-leg jeans and a black turtleneck. While it was more of a fall outfit, J.Lo does what she wants. The flats added a trendy element to her otherwise low-key outfit, and we predict plenty of people will search for a pair of mesh flats in their size after seeing it. Scroll to do just that.

I Almost Never Wear Flats, But I Can’t Stop Reaching for These Trendy Styles

    [ad_1]

Until about a month ago, catching me in anything without a heel (apart from the occasional sneaker) shared a probability rate with me breaking my Zara habit—that is about 0%. Whenever anyone would suggest I prioritize comfort over an extra inch or two of height, I’d scoff in response, never even considering a trade-in for something flatter and closer to the ground. But it appears that I’m not as stubborn as my loved ones would like you to believe because, in the last few weeks, something clicked in my brain. All of a sudden, I can’t stop shopping online and subsequently reaching for flats

If I’m being completely honest, I know the exact reason for this unforeseen change of heart. Simply put, the heel-less styles on the market right now are chicer and more enticing than any I’ve seen. From Alaïa’s netted and studded Mary Janes to Margiela’s Tabi ballets to The Row’s and Dear Frances’s mesh slip-ons, every pair of flats making headlines right now is a 10/10, and what kind of fashion lover would I be if I denied myself the pleasure of great shoes just because I’ve always said I hated flats?

Below, see the stylish flats that managed to change my mind about exclusively wearing heels forever.

If you were to list your true summer staples, there’s a strong chance that tanks, shorts, and flats (especially flat sandals) would make the top spots. It’s certainly not surprising given that the pieces in this group are all easy in nature, functional for warmer weather, and simply chic. Sure, you may have a few solid options already in your offering, but if you’re looking for a refresh, I’m here to bring you an edit of new styles.

Below you’ll uncover the chicest tanks, shorts, and flats that I recently found at Nordstrom specifically. On the tank front, there’s everything from a classic ribbed style to a chic one-shoulder find. Shorts? There are certainly denim iterations, as well as cool pull-on styles. • Jennifer Lawrence Wore the Controversial Flats Trend That’s All Over Instagram

Jennifer Lawrence Wore the Controversial Flats Trend That’s All Over Instagram

    [ad_1]

I’m not going to lie. Sometimes, it can be difficult to stay up-to-date with the latest It shoe styles thanks to how many are dropping and subsequently selling out at any given moment. Every week, a new pair of sneakers, boots, sandals, or flats appear on the market just to immediately go viral on Instagram and TikTok, run out of stock, and disappear into footwear purgatory. That being said, one pair of buzzy shoes has found a way to break the cycle by refusing to lose momentum despite weeks of being impossible to buy: Alaïa’s fishnet Mary Jane flats.

Spotted on every influential Instagram feed in the fashion world, the naked flats have quickly become one of the most-wanted and hard-to-find items of the year. But as photos from this week prove, Jennifer Lawrence didn’t have any trouble getting her hands on a pair. On Wednesday, the actress was spotted walking around New York City in the black-and-silver flats, which retail for $850. With them, she kept things pretty casual, adding a baggy white T-shirt, similarly slouchy jeans, a crossbody bag from The Row, sunglasses, and a baseball cap. In other words, she wore my ideal summer outfit with the flats that everyone on my social feeds is talking about.

Though controversial—after all, see-through mesh footwear isn’t for the faint of heart—Alaïa’s fishnet Mary Janes remain one of the year’s coolest buys. That is if you can find a pair in stock. See how J.Law wore hers and shop similar styles until a fresh lot of sizes appears on Maison-Alaia.com.

Keeping It Casual: 7 Low-Key Shoe Styles I’m Wearing Instead of Heels

    [ad_1]

I’m a heel person through and through. No matter how many days I’ve tortured my feet in a row, I’ll still slide them into pumps or even platforms and be on my way. But lately, I’ve been noticing that flatter, more casual shoe styles have begun to pique my interest, something that almost never happens. Perhaps it’s my mind playing tricks on me in an attempt to give my feet a break, or more likely, it’s that footwear designers are stepping up their flat-shoe game. Either way, this season’s comfortable and casual shoe styles have me storing away my heels for the first time in forever.

Not just any flat shoes will do, though. For me to give up my beloved heels, even temporarily, the alternative must be good. Luckily, all seven of the casual styles ahead are just that—I might even call them great. [ad_1]

In recent years, Zoë Kravitz, like so many of us, has largely given up on heels, choosing to preserve her feet by prioritizing flat shoe styles that are both comfortable and undeniably chic instead. Mary Janes, ballet flats, thong sandals, and sneakers—if they’re flat and somewhat podiatrist-approved, the actress has probably worn a fashionable version. But her most recent shoe choice might be the best one she’s made yet.

Earlier this week, Kravitz was spotted walking to dinner in New York City alongside actress Margaret Qualley wearing a Canadian tuxedo from The Row with a Saint Laurent bag, The Row x Oliver Peoples sunglasses, and a perfect pair of suede Birkenstock Boston clogs. Known for their comfort and cool shape, the Boston clogs are among fashion’s favorite shoes, causing them to sell out year after year, especially during the summer. Luckily, Kravitz’s exact pair haven’t sold out just yet. Shop the $158 slip-on flats below.
