  • Trump Loves to Fire People. This Supreme Court Decision Could Make It Easier.

Donald Trump’s recent turn as host of the Kennedy Center Honors, a first for any president, was the culmination of his purge, earlier this year, of half the center’s bipartisan board. Like other bodies shaped in his image since his return to power, Trump packed it with Republicans and other loyalists who then, inevitably, named him chairman of the board.

This extreme makeover is but one data point in Trump’s systematic unraveling of Washington, which has had to endure everything from military deployments and the dismantlement of decades-old programs and institutions to even the armed, hostile takeover of the US Institute of Peace. All this, in addition to the mass firing sprees throughout the federal government, has come to define Trump’s second presidency.

A linchpin of this smash-and-grab is the belief that, under Article II of the Constitution, the president can fire anyone he’d like—with little consequence or pushback from civic society or the courts. Since his first day back in office, Trump has acted as though Article II makes him the manager of the federal workforce; through it all, the firings up and down the chain haven’t stopped. The casualties, which are too many to name, include: the librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden; Maurene Comey, who says the Justice Department fired her for no other reason than she’s the daughter of former FBI director James Comey; almost all the Democratic appointees on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and other bipartisan agencies; more than a dozen inspectors general; the chair of the Federal Election Commission; and scores of career, apolitical public servants across the federal government in just about all 50 states, which includes the dismissals of thousands earlier this year in a wave of terminations that has come to be known as the Valentine’s Day massacres.

Against this backdrop, the Supreme Court on Monday heard Trump v. Slaughter, a case that on paper will seal the future of the Federal Trade Commission—but in reality, the dispute is about whether the Constitution truly empowers the president to fire, without restriction, anyone who works in the Executive branch.

Among them is Democratic FTC Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter, whom Trump fired without cause earlier this year, in violation of a statute that requires a finding of “inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office.” A federal judge, bound by law and longstanding precedent, reinstated her—only to be blocked by a Supreme Court that then took up the case and agreed to settle the question for good. To this day, Slaughter remains fired.

  • Tori Spelling Theorizes Why Hilary Swank Was Fired From Beverly Hills, 90210! – Perez Hilton

Tori Spelling has a theory about why Hilary Swank got fired from Beverly Hills, 90210!

Remember that? Hilary got the principal role of Carly Reynolds during the eighth season in 1997. However, she did not stay on the show for long. She got written out after only 16 episodes. Damn. But why? The exact reason is unknown, but Tori has a guess!

Related: Tori Spelling Says ‘Old Friend’ Kim Kardashian’s Bodyguard Blocked Her From Saying Hi!

During a new episode of the 90210MG podcast on Friday, the 52-year-old actress reminded her co-host Jennie Garth that Hilary was “signed on as a full-time cast member” but got the boot mid-way through the season. Tori thinks it wasn’t because of the Million Dollar Baby star’s acting, though. She believes it was all because the writing didn’t propel Hilary’s character forward. Talking about the first episode of Season 8, Tori said:

“I didn’t think the writing was great in this episode.”

    Jennie agreed, saying:

    “No, no, I didn’t, either.”

Podcast producer Amy echoed the sentiments, saying she thought “Hilary Swank was not good” in the show for a long time. However, re-watching the episode now, she realized it wasn’t the Camp Wilder alum’s fault. Amy explained:

“It’s not that she wasn’t good. She actually is good. It’s that they wrote her so ridiculously. Like, she comes in hot. She’s kind of awful from the start.”

    Oof…

Although getting fired sucks, it ultimately was the best thing for her. As Amy pointed out, Hilary was able to star in Boys Don’t Cry because she was no longer on 90210. She then got the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in the film. The podcast producer said:

“Because she gets let go from this show early, and that’s why she got Boys Don’t Cry, because she was free to audition.”

It all worked out in the end! Do you agree with Tori’s theory? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

  • ‘I can’t make this up‘: Chick-fil-A worker calls in sick. Then he says he was fired after being spotted picking up food

If you’re sick and can’t make it into work, what are you supposed to do?

That’s a question many Americans wrestle with every day. While many offices suggest that one doesn’t come into work if they’re sick in order to prevent others from getting ill, they also frequently require a doctor’s note, which costs money.

As much of American sick leave is unpaid, this leaves Americans deciding between going to the doctor and losing money or going to work and risking getting others sick. Understandably, many choose the latter; one survey found that 90 percent of American employees worked while sick.

There can be other consequences for taking the day off as well, as TikTok user Gabe (@gabethegerman2) recently learned in a video with over 547,000 views.

Why Did This Chick-fil-A Worker Get Fired?

In his video, Gabe (@gabethegerman2) details what he says is the reason he was let go from Chick-fil-A. According to him, it was because he was spotted outside the house after taking the day off for illness.

Saying he “can’t make this [expletive] up,” Gabe says his termination came after someone from work spotted him getting food, even though he had taken the day off owing to illness.

“Apparently, if you call out because you’re sick, and then someone sees you outside getting food, you’re fired,” he shares. “So, keep that in mind next time, bro.”

In the caption, he declares, “Fired for getting food when I was sick.”

Can You Be Fired for Being Spotted Outside of Work After Taking a Sick Day?

In short, the answer is “yes.”

Almost every state has “at will” employment. This means that employers can fire workers at any time for almost any reason.

While there are some exceptions to this rule—for example, an employer cannot fire a worker for their race or disability—they can fire them for almost any other reason they feel is pertinent to their work.

Regarding Chick-fil-A specifically, it doesn’t appear that they have a specific policy in their handbook about this issue. That said, these handbooks can vary from state to state and location to location, so it’s possible that Gabe’s location utilized a different handbook with varying rules.

Still, this location is likely protected in their decision to fire Gabe for going outside while sick, even if he feels the decision is unjust.

That said, in the comments, he admits that this might not be the only issue that impacted his termination.

“I didn’t take the job as serious as most ppl,” he explained.

@gabethegerman2 Fired for getting food when I was sick? #job ♬ original sound – gabe

In the comments section, users questioned the location’s alleged reasoning behind its firing of Gabe.

“Too sick to work means too sick to eat??? HELLLO??” asked a user.

“Who calls out of work?” questioned another. “I got bills to pay and things I want to do. I need money.”

“This is the equivalent to when you stay home from school and your parents don’t let you watch tv or laugh,” declared a third.

The Mary Sue reached out to Gabe via TikTok direct message and comment and Chick-fil-A via email.

  • Nestlé fired its scandal-clad CEO without a payout—a ‘really unusual’ move, corporate governance expert says

When Nestlé abruptly ousted its chief executive Laurent Freixe over Labor Day weekend after revelations of a romantic relationship with a direct subordinate, one detail stood out: He was shown the door without a severance package.

That, according to corporate-governance veteran Nell Minow, is almost unheard-of in the C-suite.

That is really unusual,” she told Fortune. “I think that’s actually a badge of success for corporate governance, because that’s something investors have been concerned about for a long time: CEOs being dismissed and somehow getting to stay on.”

Nestlé confirmed to Fortune that Freixe will not receive a severance package.

For years, high-profile executives who crossed ethical lines have left with multimillion-dollar parachutes. Famously, Steve Easterbrook, the former chief executive of McDonald’s, walked away from the role with a hefty sum of $40 million after getting caught having a consensual relationship with a subordinate. McDonald’s later clawed back $105 million from Easterbrook after finding he hadn’t disclosed sexual relationships with other subordinates at the fast food giant.

Adam Neumann—after leading a disastrous charge to take the company he founded, WeWork, public—received $445 million in a payout package during his ouster. And after 346 people died in two crashes during Dennis Muilenburg’s tenure as Boeing CEO, he was not awarded severance but still left with more than $60 million in stock options.

Minow said these different outcomes show that boards are not always consistent in how they police misconduct, but that one thing remains the same: Social media has left directors with fewer options to look the other way.

“There has been bad behavior in the boardroom for a long time,” Minow said. “But partly because of social media, partly because of the way things get out, the board is under more pressure to respond.”

The reputational fallout from bad behavior can be brutal. A Polish CEO who was recently caught on video snatching a U.S. Open souvenir hat from a child watched his company’s online reviews collapse to near zero in days. The “John” of Papa John’s caused Major League Baseball to pull its promotion with the pizza chain after he used the N-word during a media-training call in 2018.

Boards are slowly adapting, Minow argued. Some have begun docking bonuses or moving faster to terminate CEOs “for cause,” meaning the executive in question committed serious misconduct that warrants dismissal without severance pay. But she warned many still demonstrate  a double standard.

“If you see some hypocrisy in the board, by the way that they handle the CEO versus the way they handle a middle manager, that’s a green light for employees to behave badly themselves.”

Even the apology, she said, operates as a test of governance. Minow keeps what she calls an informal “hall of shame” of poor executive apologies. The worst, she explained, dodge responsibility or fail to show how the company will prevent a repeat. The best are blunt, swift, and backed by action.

Ultimately, Nestlé’s move may prove a turning point. By denying Freixe a golden parachute, the Swiss food giant signaled that boards are starting to treat reputational risk as seriously as financial risk, and that missteps at the top no longer guarantee a cushy landing.

  • Vegas Odds for First NFL Head Coach Fired — Four Best Bets

If you readers know anything about me, you know that I love a nice wager. Also, if you know anything about me, you know that I’m willing to wager on almost anything. For every conventional wager on a college football or NFL game, I’ve placed a sizable wager on the Nathan’s hot dog eating contest. For every MLB game on which I dip my toe, I’ll cobble together a parlay for predicted Oscar winners.

Perhaps no “unconventional” wager piques my interest, though, quite like wagering on people’s employment, or perhaps more appropriately, their potential UNEMPLOYMENT. This brings me to one of my favorite wagers of the NFL season — who will be the first NFL head coach fired?

The crazy thing about this wager is that the favorite rarely hits. In the last five seasons, these have been the winning ticket cashers:

    2020: BILL O’BRIEN, Texans
    2021: URBAN MEYER, Jaguars
    2022: MATT RHULE, Panthers
    2023: FRANK REICH, Panthers
    2024: ROBERT SALEH, Jets

Of those five, the only favorite (or near favorite) that hit was Rhule in 2022. The other four were all fairly long shots. The one thing they all had in common was some level of internal franchise dysfunction (O’Brien, Saleh), a train wreck owner (Rhule, Reich), or massive personal, self destructive issues (Meyer).

So, if we are picking a winner, it’s less about schedule and matchups, and more about finding (a) a potentially bad team with (b) a rotting culture and rotten ownership. Before I lay out my four best bets, here are the full odds:

    Mike McDaniel (MIA) 2/1
    Brian Daboll (NYG) 4/1
    Shane Steichen (IND) 7/1
    Dave Canales (CAR) 15/2
    Kevin Stefanski (CLE) 15/2
    Jonathan Gannon (ARI) 8/1
    Zac Taylor (CIN) 9/1
    Brian Callahan (TEN) 18/1
    Raheem Morris (ATL) 18/1
    Todd Bowles (TB) 20/1
    Mike Tomlin (PIT) 28/1
    Kyle Shanahan (SF) 33/1
    Kevin O’Connell (MIN) 40/1
    Matt LaFleur (GB) 40/1
    Sean McVay (LA) 40/1
    DeMeco Ryans (HOU) 50/1
    Sean McDermott (BUF) 60/1
    Mike Macdonald (SEA) 66/1
    Sean Payton (DEN) 66/1
    John Harbaugh (BAL) 75/1
    Ben Johnson (CHI) 100/1
    Brian Schottenheimer (DAL) 100/1
    Dan Campbell (DET) 100/1
    Dan Quinn (WAS) 100/1
    Jim Harbaugh (LAC) 100/1
    Aaron Glenn (NYJ) 150/1
    Kellen Moore (NO) 150/1
    Liam Coen (JAX) 150/1
    Pete Carroll (LV) 200/1
    Mike Vrabel (NE) 250/1
    Andy Reid (KC) 500/1
    Nick Sirianni (PHI) 500/1

Okay, so let’s lay out four decent selections:

    MIKE McDANIEL, Dolphins, 2/1
The favorite deserves to be the favorite. Listen to McDaniel speak, and you’d think that Stephen Ross has been letting a stoned teenager run the team for their last three years. Over the course of the offseason, McDaniel has had Three Hill agitate for a trade and Jalen Ramsey successfully lobby to get traded. The team is widely viewed as a punchline around the league for being soft. McDaniel’s time has run out in South Beach.

    DAVE CANALES, Panthers, 15/2
Credit to Canales, as he got a nice stretch of football out of QB Bryce Young down the stretch last season, easily the best Young has played during his two seasons in the NFL. However, if I’m putting together an article touting multiple best bets, how can I not include the head coach on the team who’s owner has given us the winner in two out of the last three seasons?

    KEVIN STEFANSKI, Browns, 15/2
This whole situation is ripe for people to lose their jobs. After the whole Deshaun Watson experience ended in catastrophe, the Browns have now created a second QB controversy by drafting two rookie quarterbacks in the same draft class, with one of them being Shedeur Sanders. Oh, and neither of the rookies will start, because the Browns signed 40-year-old Joe Flacco, who stinks. This feels like a “let’s just blow the whole thing up and start over” situation, potentially, and Kevin Stefanski would for sure get smoked under this scenario.

    BRIAN CALLAHAN, Titans, 18/1
I can’t just cherry pick off the top of these odds, so I’ll dip slightly lower in the 18/1 range on this one. The rumor mill in the offseason was saying that the Titans almost moved on from Callahan after one season. As the former OC with the Bengals, the hope was that Callahan would fix second year QB Will Levis. That didn’t come close to happening, so if rookie Cam Ward gets off to a slow start, perhaps Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk decides to head off any long term damage to the rookie by moving on from Callahan.

  • ‘Believe me, you’re better off’: Woman starts going to the gym during lunch. Then her position gets outsourced

A woman was outsourced from her company under suspicious circumstances. The reason she may think this is why? She left on her lunch break to go to the gym.

In a video with over 4,500 views, Whitney Lawrence (whit.moves) explained how her position in human resources had an “unspoken” rule for its employees: don’t leave the office, or you may get canned.

Worker uses lunch break to visit gym

Lawrence said one of the strangest experiences leading up to her position being outsourced involved her decision to start leaving the office for lunch. For the year and a half or two years she had worked there, she never stepped out.

“I had always worked through my lunch, never left,” she said. Over time, though, the work environment began to feel increasingly hostile. She sensed that her termination might be coming, so she decided to take a small step for herself and leave to go to the gym during her lunch break, figuring she might get fired anyway.

“One of the craziest things that happened before my position got outsourced was about a month ago,” Lawrence said. “I decided I’m going to start taking my lunch and leaving [to] go to the gym. Everybody else seems to leave on their lunch. Why can’t I?”

    The ‘unspoken rule’

She noted that there seemed to be an unspoken rule specifically targeting HR employees. “I have always felt like there was this unspoken rule of like, ‘HR isn’t allowed to leave,’ so I just never did,” she added. She also felt the weight of her boss’s disapproval. “I felt like my boss frowned upon it.”

When she was eventually outsourced, she wasn’t necessarily surprised. However, the interaction she had with the company owner’s wife left her stunned.

“She asked me, ‘Oh where are you going?’ Mind you, I don’t even know what this lady does for the company, but she’s there everyday looking over everyone’s shoulder,” she said. “I said, ‘Oh I’m going to the gym.’ She’s like, ‘Oh you’re going to the gym on your lunch?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’

The woman proceeded to snarkily reply, “‘OK well, I hope you’re not planning on eating when you come back since you’re spending your lunch [there].’”

Sometime after that interaction, Lawrence got outsourced and let go.

    Commenters dig into the company

Many TikTok users thought that the interaction was unnecessarily hostile, especially given the fact that Lawrence could technically do whatever she needed with her lunch hour.

One wrote, “The unspoken rules and vibes shifts that take place in an office needs to be studied.”

Another added, “I foam at the mouth, thinking of these situations, hoping they would happen to me. That lady would have learned that day, why she should myob.”

Another person referenced the company that Lawrence supposedly worked for, but didn’t mention what that company is. They said, “I used to work at the same company you did. They put up such a front that it was a big family. Biggest sack of lies.”

  • ‘Miss Kayla has a record for frauds’: Viral mystery shopper says she got Chicken Salad Chick worker fired for being ‘rude.‘ Then the internet comes for her

Secret shopping has become a popular topic of conversation on TikTok—and that’s largely due to a single woman: Kayla Sansom (@kaylalaughsoutloud).

Over the years, she’s attracted a substantial following on the platform by sharing what she says are “secret shopping” trips. Typically, these videos involve going into a store, recording her interaction with the employees, then determining whether the store would pass or fail her secret shopper criteria.

However, a recent video that she posted has the internet talking. In it, she fails a Chicken Salad Chick location on an apparent secret shopping run. Here’s why commenters are questioning the creator.

In a now-deleted video, Sansom visits a Chicken Salad Chick location. After a relatively normal visit, Kayla declares that the restaurant “failed.”

“They failed for a couple of reasons,” she explains. “It started off absolutely horrible and got a little bit better.”

Among the issues claimed by Sansom are that she was not greeted upon entry, that she had to wait for “almost four minutes” before being greeted or helped, and that the manager was “very aggressive when she was taking my order.”

While most of Sansom’s videos are met with warmth and understanding in the comments section, the comments under this one took a markedly different tone. Some users questioned Sansom’s judgment and others agreed with her.

Seeing this, Sansom decided to make a follow-up video in which she alleges that the manager misgendered her and called her “sir.”

    She doubles down

Commenters pushed back on this, insisting that the manager was simply saying “today” (perhaps with an intrusive “R”). However, Sansom countered that her assessment was correct regardless.

“Let’s say on the sly chance she did not call me sir, and she said something else, maybe, just maybe I would have heard her more clearly if she actually looked at me and made eye contact and tried to give me, like, I don’t know, the smallest ounce of customer service instead of jabbing at the keys, not making eye contact with me and making me stand there for over 4 minutes before even acknowledging that I was in her restaurant,” she said.

Furthermore, she stated that the person in the video “is no longer a general manager of this location.”

This did little to quell the fury of commenters, who continued to insist that Sansom was wrong in her assessment.

    The Restaurant Responds

Around the time Sansom posted her video and her follow-up, Chicken Salad Chick decided to post a slideshow on their TikTok page, seemingly in direct response to Sansom.

In their slideshow, the company denies both that they had hired a secret shopper and that anyone lost their job as a result of a “recent viral video.”

“There is no official ‘mystery shopper’ program affiliated with our brand,” wrote the store in the text overlaying the video. “And no, no one lost their job because of a recent viral video.”

Sansom left a comment under this video claiming that she was hired by the store’s franchise owners, writing, “Your franchise owners hire us.” The chain responded simply, “The franchise owner did not hire mystery shoppers.” Sansom answered, “I have proof.” The Mary Sue was not able to find such proof at the time of writing.

The Mary Sue reached out to multiple secret shopping networks to see if they could confirm that Sansom was, or ever had been, a member of their organizations. Most did not respond. However, the two organizations that did respond said that they never had, or no longer, worked with Sansom.

In an email to the Mary Sue, Rich Bradley, a spokesperson for MSPA Americas, “the trade association representing the customer experience and merchandising industries throughout the Americas,” confirmed that the organization had “no records” of Sansom being a part of their database.

“MSPA Americas offers free memberships for mystery shoppers to understand how to be successful in the industry, avoid scams, and learn more through webinars and official certification courses (and we offer paid memberships for additional benefits),” Bradley wrote.

“But mystery shoppers can learn the basics of the industry and how to get projects from reputable company members through this association at no cost,” he continued. “We don’t recognize outside certifications (since we have no control over the content being relayed) and, honestly, don’t understand why anyone would seek information from any source other than the official trade association for the industry.”

Another organization, Marketforce, did not provide an official comment, though they noted that Sansom has been banned from their platform for over a year.

Still, some who have signed up for her course say that she is, in fact, a mystery shopper.

Mystery shopping is a job that generally earns fairly little, “around $10-$20 for basic jobs,” per Bestmark. This led many to question how Sansom can make the $50,000 part-time she claims to make on her Facebook. Others shared their thoughts on Kayla’s experience and drama in their own TikTok videos. One example is from user Blk Desk Society (@blkdesksociety).

@blkdesksociety Well, I bet Kayla is not laughing at the moment. Let’s get into it. #kaylalaughsoutloud #chickensaladchick #mysteryshopping #fruad #scammer ♬ original sound – Blk Desk Society

    Sansom Responds

After all of this controversy, Sansom posted a follow-up video. In it, she says that she will be blurring the faces of workers during her mystery shops. Furthermore, she says she will begin marking whether a mystery shop is “paid” or “unpaid.” It is unclear what an “unpaid” mystery shop is.

The Mary Sue emailed Sansom asking whether she could provide evidence that the CSC franchise hired her. We also asked whether she was presently or had been a member of any secret shopping organization. Additionally, we sought clarification regarding her new policy of “paid” versus “unpaid” secret shopping runs.

In response, Sansom stated that she would “appreciate” if The Mary Sue’s article wasn’t posted. She says she made this request “because we have lots of cease and desist letters going out very soon.” She expressed a desire to “clean up this mess the legal way.”

When prompted again, Sansom responded, “All I’m allowed to say at this time is that I was indeed paid to do that mystery shop. I truly wish I could give you more but more will come out very soon.” No further information appears to have been released since Sansom sent this email.

Sansom has limited the comments on her own videos. But comments in the videos about the drama—and posts on Reddit—have people sharing how they feel about her.

First, many pointed out that Sansom has previously been arrested on multiple counts, including fraud.

Second, others noted how Sansom has alleged to have shopped the same Chicken Salad Chick location several times before. This means that the CSC franchise had repeatedly hired her without corporate knowing. Or that Sansom was simply doing an “unpaid” mystery shop without being hired by the franchise or corporation. However, Sansom has not defined what exactly this means.

Above all, commenters simply want clarity—about what happened, about how it happened, and about how exactly Sansom’s business works.

“I thought the whole point of being a secret shopper was the anonymity,” wrote a commenter under one of the videos on the topic.

“I’m a mystery shopper. I am an Executive Administrator at a Mystery Shopping Organization. We have been in business for 10 years. You can not break your ICA and name the client name, you have to be objective, absolutely cannot post any of your shop on social media (no MSC will approve this). Everything is confidential. That is why it is called SECRET Shopping,” declared another.

  • #RogerFortson Update: Florida Deputy Eddie Duran Fired For Fatally Shooting Black U.S. Airman After Responding To Wrong Address

#RogerFortson Update: Florida Deputy Eddie Duran Fired For Fatally Shooting Black U.S. Airman After Responding To Wrong Address

    Source: Hurlburt Field/Facebook / facebook

Florida Deputy Fired After Fatal Shooting Of U.S. Airman Roger Fortson

He was so young with a full life ahead of him. Roger Fortson was a dedicated 23-year-old U.S. Air Force—No. Let’s put respect on his status: Senior Airman— who never knew that opening his own home would end his life. Florida deputy Eddie Duran, who killed Fortson for answering the door while Black in a raid at the wrong address, was fired for the May 3 shooting.

A Tragic Night in Okaloosa County

As BOSSIP previously reported earlier this month, #RogerFortson was at home, Face-Timing with his girlfriend, when deputies from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrived in response to a disturbance call. Major outlets such as AP News, shared the body cam footage. Deputy Eddie Duran knocked on Fortson’s door and announced himself as law enforcement.

Fortson appeared at the door, holding a gun pointed towards the ground. Without hesitation, Duran fired multiple times, fatally wounding the airman with six shots. Fortson later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

    Deputy Eddie Duran Fired

Following an internal affairs investigation, Deputy Eddie Duran was fired from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department.  According to CNN, the investigation concluded that Duran’s use of deadly force was not “objectively reasonable” and violated agency policy.

Sheriff Eric Aden acknowledged the gravity of the situation, stating, “This tragic incident should have never occurred. The objective facts do not support the use of deadly force as an appropriate response to Mr. Fortson’s actions. Mr. Fortson did not commit any crime. By all accounts, he was an exceptional airman and individual.”

What was the immediate response following the situation? Of course, they placed the killer cop on paid leave while investigating.

    A Step Toward Justice

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who is representing the Fortson family, welcomed the firing but emphasized that it is only a partial victory.

“The actions of this deputy were not just negligent, they were criminal,” Crump asserted. “Just as we did for Botham Jean, Atatiana Jefferson, and Breonna Taylor, we will continue to fight for full justice and accountability for Roger Fortson, as well as every other innocent Black man and woman gunned down by law enforcement in the presumed safety of their own home.”

With a history of fighting for Black voices to be heard, Crump’s hard work with the family is paying off. Duran’s termination is a great step, but that’s not enough for a cop who fatally shot first (SIX TIMES) and asked questions later. #PutHimInJail

    The Impact On Fortson’s Family

The loss of Roger Fortson has deeply affected his family. NPR shares how his mother, Chantimekki Fortson, described the emotional toll the incident has taken, particularly on Fortson’s nieces and nephews.

“When my grandkids see the police, they literally start vomiting,” she shared. “I’ve taught them to respect the police because of the chaos that goes on and the fact that they get sick to their stomach, it’s crazy.”

WSB-TV spoke with Roger Fortson’s family, highlighting a vigil held in his honor in the family’s hometown: Atlanta. Family attorney Brian Barr highlighted Fortson’s dedication to service, both to his family and his country.

“He served his family, he served the country, served his friends,” Barr said. “And it’s just such a tragedy, from all angles that — living this life of service doing what he was told to do — he was killed because he opened the door.”

Saluting #RogerFortson for serving a country that doesn’t always serve the very people who built it.

Community Outrage and Demand for Accountability

The shooting of Roger Fortson has reignited discussions about police brutality and the systemic issues that lead to such tragedies. At a news conference, Ben Crump played a recording of a police dispatch officer indicating that the disturbance call involved “a male and a female.” This information came via a fourth-party from the front desk of the apartment complex.

Crump criticized the sheriff’s department for not owning up to their mistakes.

“When you make a mistake, you own up to it. You don’t try to justify killing a good guy. The Okaloosa Sheriff’s Department needs to own up to this. Tell the truth.”

Keep in mind, this is the same Sheriff’s Department that mistakenly fired at an unarmed man 22 times from the sound of an acorn. At least that Deputy immediately resigned. It shouldn’t have to be all of this. Where is their training?

    But again, the fight continues.

An Ongoing Investigation & A Call For Change

The investigation into Roger Fortson’s death is still ongoing. Florida’s Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation, and the state attorney’s office will determine if any further action is taken. As the community rallies behind the Fortson family, the call for justice remains loud and clear.

The death of Roger Fortson reminds Black people of the dangers faced when met with law enforcement. Communities are standing in solidarity with the Fortson family as the fight for justice and systemic change continues.

    Will it ever end…?

Model Claims He Was Fired From Greeting At The Met Gala After Outshining Kylie Jenner Last Year! – Perez Hilton

An Italian model has gone viral after claiming he was fired from greeting at the Met Gala… for stealing Kylie Jenner’s spotlight!

You may remember Eugenio Casnighi from last year, but we hope you weren’t expecting to see him at THIS year’s Met, because he got canned! And he’s not holding back on why!

In a series of TikTok videos he began uploading on Friday, the 26-year-old claimed he got fired from fashion’s biggest night after accompanying Kylie on the red carpet last year. He showed a bunch of pics and clips, asking viewers if they “remember” him as he’d also greeted in 2022. He said he was supposed to greet this year, too, but on Friday, was informed that he’d been fired because he went viral last year! He explained:

“So basically they said, ‘You made it about yourself, so we can’t have you work there anymore.’”

    WHAT?!

He went on to explain that he assisted Kylie the whole night, but after apparently drawing attention away from her by being in the background of her photos, they blamed him for “making it about [himself].” In his TikTok, you can see one fan zooming in on him in the background while Emma Chamberlain interviewed BlackPink‘s Jennie Kim. Last time we checked, being totally hawt was a GOOD thing! Especially at events like the Met!

In a subsequent video, Eugenio went on to share messages confirming he’d been scheduled to work this year’s Met again before his abrupt firing on Friday. He also added that the modeling agency that hired him kept changing NDAs to avoid similar incidents happening… Banning models from taking photos, filming, or even REPOSTING content from the night! Whether it feature them or not!

    That’s WILD!

In the comments, TikTokers quickly came to his defense, sharing messages of support like:

“They can’t handle your beauty that goes viral. Will DEFINITELY be happening again”

“I’m confused how that isn’t a good thing? If you’re bringing attention to the event, doesn’t that benefit the company?”

“You are too handsome for the job. Hysterical.”

Take it as a compliment, you were too hot for the met”

“I can’t believe you had the audacity to be seen in the exact location they told you to be”

    “You ate Kylie uppp”

He talked more about the celebs he met in a third TikTok, and also shared an Instagram post on Sunday showing off his look from last year. He wrote:

“Since they said I made it about myself  here we go again last year. enjoy the #metgala this year y’all”

Shannen Doherty Admits 90210 Firing Was All HER Fault! – Perez Hilton

Shannen Doherty has been dropping truth bombs on her podcast. Which we obviously love.

But telling hard truths sometimes means looking at your own mistakes with a really honest lens. And we’re glad to say she’s doing that, too! After she and Holly Marie Combs claimed co-star Alyssa Milano was fully to blame for Shannen’s ousting from Charmed, this time, she’s taking full ownership for her firing from Beverly Hills 90210!

TV brother Jason Priestley stopped by the Let’s Be Clear podcast this time, and they eventually got to the touchy subject of Shannen’s firing from their hit TV show. And Shannen, now 52, admits it was on her. She began:

Yeah, at the time she had been in the industry a long time — but she was also only in her mid 20s and in some ways just didn’t know how to handle these really difficult subjects.

Jason actually told her he felt guilty about not being more compassionate at the time, but Shannen quickly stopped him and said her behavior was no one’s fault but her own:

It’s so brave of her to talk really candidly about all of this. Hear the whole conversation for yourself (below):
