Before Getting Married, Here’s What Was Going Down With ‘1,000-Lb. Sisters’ Star Amy Slaton

As The Shade Room previously reported, in March 2023, Michael Halterman filed for divorce from Amy Slaton. At the time, the pair had been married for about four years. Then, in September 2024, Slaton and Brian Lovvorn were visiting a zoo, apparently with children, when a camel bite left the pair facing possession and child endangerment charges.

By the winter of that year, Lovvorn reportedly proposed to Slaton — keeping with their haunted theme and getting down on one knee inside of a haunted house, per PEOPLE.

“Our engagement life may be short, but our marriage will last an eternity!” she reportedly said at the time.

  • Whew! White House Speaks Out After Social Post By Trump Appears To Show Him Threatening To Withhold SNAP Funds (VIDEO)

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has spoken out after a social post shared by President Donald Trump appeared to show him threatening to withhold partial SNAP funds.

RELATED: UPDATE: Federal Judge Orders Trump To Fund And Distribute SNAP Payments, Sets Deadline (VIDEO)

More On The Social Post Shared By President Donald Trump, Which Appeared To Show Him Threatening To Withhold SNAP Funds

On Tuesday, November 4, President Trump took to Truth Social to share a potent message with the public.

“SNAP BENEFITS, which increased by Billions and Billions of Dollars (MANY FOLD!) during Crooked Joe Biden’s disastrous term in office (Due to the fact that they were haphazardly ‘handed’ to anyone for the asking, as opposed to just those in need, which is the purpose of SNAP!), will be given only when the Radical Left Democrats open up government, which they can easily do, and not before! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT,” he wrote.

Ultimately, the post led some to assume that Trump apparently reneged on his compliance with utilizing partial SNAP contingency funds to supplement recipients for the month of November. Specifically,  AXOIS published a report with the headline, “Trump says SNAP will only get paid after shutdown.”

Furthermore, The Hill published a report titled, “Trump says he’s withholding SNAP benefits until shutdown ends.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt Speaks Out

President Donald Trump’s Truth Social post and the subsequent reports prompted the White House to clarify his message. On Tuesday, Karoline Leavitt noted to the press that the Trump administration is “fully complying.” Additionally, she noted that it plans to partially fund SNAP for the month of November.

“The recipients of these SNAP benefits need to understand it’s going to take time to receive this money because the Democrats have forced the administration into a very untenable position. We are digging into a contingency fund that is supposed to be for emergencies, catastrophes, for war, and the president does not want to have to tap into this fund in the future, and that’s what he was referring to in his Truth Social post,” Leavitt explained.

Ultimately, Leavitt asserted that the “best way to get the full amount of SNAP benefits to beneficiaries is for Democrats to reopen the government… Democrats are holding it up.”

More On President Donald Trump & Ongoing Issue Of SNAP Funding

As The Shade Room previously reported, the halt in SNAP benefits was initiated by the government shutdown on October 1. Last week, a federal judge ordered the USDA to disburse funds “as soon as possible.” This, as word loomed that benefits would cease on November 1. Additionally, the Trump administration made it clear it had no plans to step in and use contingency funds to pay for SNAP, per The Shade Room. This, reportedly because it would pull money from other government-funded programs.

Nonetheless, on Monday, November 3, it was reported that the Trump administration would comply with the order. However, instead of the full $9 million funding SNAP usually sees, the administration would only be able to pull about 50% of that amount to fund recipients for the month of November. Additionally, it was noted that it may take anywhere from a day to a few months for recipients to receive the partial funds.

  • VIDEO: See RHOBH Season 15 Trailer! Kyle Seemingly Admits She’s Bisexual as Dorit Meets With Mauricio! Plus Jennifer Accuses Sutton of Being Selfish, Erika & Dorit Feud, Denise Admits She’s “Afraid” of Aaron, & Rachel Zoe and Amanda Frances Join Cast

    Credit: Phylicia J.L. Munn/Bravo

Kyle Richards seems to confirm that she’s into both men and women in the just-released trailer for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 15.

As Dorit Kemsley, 49, and Mauricio Umansky, 55, are seen at a restaurant, Erika Jayne, 54, goes public with her new boyfriend, John “Shrek” McPhee, and Denise Richards, 54, admits she’s afraid of Aaron Phypers, 53, newbies Rachel Zoe, 54, and Amanda Frances are introduced to the group, Sutton Stracke, 54, butts heads with Jennifer Tilly, 67, and Bozoma “Boz” Saint John, 48, questions Kyle, 56, about her personal life.

“Look, I’m a girls’ girl. But in order to be friends, I want to know the information so that I can also be helpful,” Boz tells Kyle as the clip begins.

“Well, why don’t you ask what you really want to ask: I could go Brad; I could go Angelina,” Kyle replies.

Boz then tells her co-star, “I have to know what you want,” and Kyle says, “Someone who likes sex.”

During another moment, Kyle opens up about her ongoing estrangement from Mauricio.

“You need to go out there and do whatever makes you happy,” Erika tells her.

“I’m trying,” Kyle replies as she’s later seen having a tear wiped away by Mau.

Another relationship in turmoil is that of Dorit and Paul “PK” Kemsley, 58.

“He’s never [texted] me once asking to see the kids,” Dorit tells Mauricio during an outing at a restaurant.

“I’m hearing different stories,” Mau replies.

With her castmates struggling to work through the ends of their marriages, Erika is enjoying the start of her new romance as she makes it “official” with her boyfriend.

“That was a hard launch,” Kyle declares after John is seen on a FaceTime call.

Erika is then seen sitting down with Denise.

“How could you release pictures of your wife naked?” Denise wonders.

    “Are you afraid?” Erika replies.

“Yeah,” Denise, whose estranged husband has been accused of abuse, confirms. “Very.”

While Kyle high-fives Dorit in one scene, all isn’t well between them, as they are later seen engaging in a tense moment during dinner with their castmates.

“You’re lying. And you know what doesn’t lie? The cameras,” Kyle declares.

Meanwhile, speaking to Kathy Hilton, 66, Dorit says, “Those days of me sitting there, grinning and bearing it, swallowing it, taking it, those days are f*cking over.”

Kyle and Dorit are also seen with Erika, who appears to be trying to intervene.

“I’m not gonna stop talking,” Erika tells Dorit.

But Dorit isn’t interested in what Erika has to say and storms off, telling her co-stars, “Go f*ck yourselves.”

As Rachel makes her grand entrance into the group, she reminds viewers, “My name’s Rachel Zoe. You may or may not remember me from Bravo because I’ve lived here before.”

She then accuses someone of being “fake” and playing “both sides” before a scene shows her crying about her failed attempt at a “hot girl summer.”

During their cast trip to Florence, Italy, the group is introduced to Amanda, whom Sutton immediately welcomes.

“To Amanda, our new friend,” she announces amid a meal.

“And Rachel’s our new friend, too,” Boz notes.

“She’s been here a minute, though. I’m new-new,” Amanda fires back.

Although Sutton seems to take a liking to Amanda, not everyone else does.

“Something’s off with this girl,” Erika suspects.

And Boz later tells the newbie, “You are not being clear about your life.”

Once back home, during a chat with her partner, Amanda suspects that one of the women is intimidated by her “because I’m young and successful and I’m not financially dependent on a man, and she outsourced her financial well-being to a man and it didn’t go well.”

Elsewhere in the trailer, Rachel confirms her divorce from Rodger Berman to her two sons, Skyler, 14, and Kaius, 11, Boz undergoes surgery and seems to get bad news, and drama erupts between Sutton and Jennifer.

“That’s why Garcelle left: Because it’s always all about Sutton,” Jennifer declares, signaling Garcelle Beauvais, 58, and her March exit from the series.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 15 premieres on Thursday, December 4, at 8/7c on Bravo.

  • Gretchen Rossi Denies Slade Was Behind RHOC Blogger Finale Call Controversy, Addresses Homophobic Posts She’s Accused of Liking as She’s Seen With Trump Hat in Resurfaced Clip

    Credit: Instagram

Gretchen Rossi is speaking out amid claims that Slade Smiley was the person behind the distorted male voice heard at the end of the finale episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County.

After the unidentified person accused Tamra Judge, 58, of leaking stories about the show, Gretchen, 47, addressed the rumors in a comment after Zack Peter, of the No Filter with Zack Peter podcast, alleged that it was “1,000 percent true” that Tamra had been in touch with podcasters and bloggers throughout season 19, and had leaked information about what was going down behind the scenes.

“I can say that with full conviction. I’ve known about this since at least July,” Zack began in a video shared to Instagram on October 31.

According to Zack, he believed the finale phone call and the DMs that preceded it likely came from a producer.

“This happens in reality TV a lot, where producers will get info and they’ll leak it through like a DM or through like an anonymous Q&A question or something, and it’s to push the storyline forward. It happens in reality TV all the time,” he explained.

Whatever the case, Zack said he can “guarantee” that “Tamra’s absolutely been leaking things for months.”

“She’s been reaching out to podcasters, she’s been telling them not to have Gretchen on their show, not to interview Gretchen because, ‘Just wait. At the finale, Gretchen’s gonna be exposed. There are these homophobic posts, and Gretchen’s been ‘liking’ them.’ I can probably name at least five people that have gotten this info from Tamra over the last several months,” he stated. “She’s absolutely been planting seeds all summer long.”

Zack then criticized Teddi Mellencamp, 44, for dragging Scheana Shay, 40, into the storyline by suggesting she was involved in the passing on of the rumor regarding the supposed drugging and hospitalization of Gretchen.

“She knew exactly what she was doing by throwing Scheana Shay’s name into the mix because the Bravo fans already hate Scheana that it was just a greater adversary for them to direct their heat onto, and they got their pitchforks, and the fans loved it, and they came for Scheana’s neck,” he suspected.

Following the sharing of the post, someone suggested that the voice heard on the finale was that of Slade.

“They all leak stuff to the bloggers. In all the franchises. However the difference with Tamra is when every podcaster or a blogger interviews her she straight up comes out and says what she has to say boldly … We see it in the replays. Why would she ‘leak’ things that she says out right? Even on their Two Ts in a Pod. Gretchen and Slade clearly set this up and that voice sounds like Slade,” they alleged.

But Gretchen denied it, suggesting there is proof to the contrary.

“It’s not Slade [and] all the cast [and] production can verify that,” Gretchen replied.

RHOC Gretchen Rossi Reacts to Rumor of Slade Being Behind Blogger Phone Call

Another fan said that while they didn’t believe that Gretchen had “liked” the homophobic and anti-abortion rights posts, they didn’t understand how the screenshots could’ve been manufactured.

“If you watch they said they found the original posts and they were not showing Gretchen liking them, I think it gets exposed at the reunion that the [screenshots] had been faked,” someone replied.

And after seeing the second fan’s comment, Gretchen confirmed, “Yep.”

RHOC Gretchen Rossi Denies Liking Controversial IG Posts

Then, after Scheana reacted to Zack’s video with a series of clapping emojis, someone else asked, “So are bloggers going to be the main topic on every housewives show now?”

“It’s a fabricated post, I didn’t like that … and that is NOT Slade on that phone call,” Gretchen insisted.

RHOC Gretchen Rossi Denies Blogger Call Was From Slade Smiley

Another IG user asked why Tamra was getting heat for “leaking” Gretchen’s supposedly “liked” posts when it was Gretchen who reportedly “liked” them.

“Because as we spoke about this morning, those posts are old. Tamra has known about them for a long time but strategically waited until the finale to use them against Gretchen. Tamra’s circle is surround by MAGA people. But suddenly she takes issue with it, to jab at Gretchen? And then leak it MONTHS before airing?” Zack shared.

RHOC Gretchen Rossi Defended by Blogger Amid Liked Posts Drama

Meanwhile, in another video shared on Instagram by Bravo OMG, Gretchen was seen with a Trump hat in a years-old video as she held her daughter, Skylar Gray, now 6.

“Go Trump, go! I got a Trump hat!” Gretchen declared.

Then, after Slade warned her of a Biden hat, she added, “No, burn that one!”

The Real Housewives of Orange County season 19 reunion begins next Thursday, November 6, at 8/7c on Bravo.

Within one hour, the rapper’s comment section was flooded with over 11,000 reactions. The clip Blue shared shows him shirtless, wearing a diamond chain and white cap. He vowed to put his Instagram account on private within 24 hours, teasing a “secret society” vibe. “Blueface home,” he said with a lil’ laugh. The clip marks the first time fans are seeing and hearing from Blue directly since he got home from prison.

As previously reported, Blueface turned himself into police in January 2024. He had violated his probation in connection to a 2021 assault conviction, and a judge ultimately sentenced him to four years last August. He served 21 months before his release, per XXL.

Karlissa Saffold Has Been Teasing Her Son’s Return For Weeks

In mid-October Mama Blueface assured his fans that they’d be seeing the rapper in “days.” She spoke to TMZ about her son’s physical transformation, which includes gaining 70 pounds behind bars. She also told the outlet Blue was “doing well,” pouring into his fitness and “preparing to come home.” Karlissa also spoke about how she and Blue’s dad Jonathan Sr., will hold him “accountable” for his actions. • ‘RHONY’ Alum Luann de Lesseps Dishes on Past Romance With MLB’s Keith Hernandez, Body Count, and Potential Bravo Return, Plus Talks Carole Radziwill and Wendy & Erika’s Legal Drama

    Credit: lev radin / Shutterstock.com

Luann de Lesseps confirmed a past romance with MLB great Keith Hernandez and spoke of her body count on a podcast on Wednesday.

As she addressed her potential return to The Real Housewives of New York City, a possible 16th season with Carole Radziwill, 62, and the legal drama of Wendy Osefo, 41, and Erika Jayne, 54, Luann looked back on her alleged hookup with Joe Bradley, 29, and said that when it came to her sexual partners, she hadn’t had “a lot.”

“I’m more of a relationship person … I used to date Keith Hernandez, who was a Mets player,” Luann, 60, explained on the October 29 episode of The Sarah Fraser Show.

“I met him when he was the star of the Mets. I didn’t even know who he was. I met him out, and then we walked out of the restaurant, and people were asking for his autograph back then. So I was like, ‘Are you famous?’ And he was so thrilled that I didn’t know he was famous,” she continued.

Following her romance with Keith, Luann moved to Europe and met her ex-husband, Count Alexandre de Lesseps, 76.

“Not many boyfriends. I’m really a hopeless romantic in so many ways … But you know what I love is the game. That’s why you see me play the game on the Love Hotel; I love the chase,” she explained.

As for her body count, Luann said it was “less than probably 25,” before adding that it may be “less than 20.”

Regarding the potential return of herself and other OGs of RHONY, Luann admitted to thinking there was a chance of “something happening.”

“I’m not sure quite what. Maybe an iteration of Housewives. But I don’t know,” she shared.

As for Ramona Singer, 68, being included, Luann also wasn’t sure.

“I think that there’s so many moments where Housewives get in trouble, and then they kind of resurrect them,” she reasoned. “Look at Carole Radziwill, she just came back on [Watch What Happens Live].”

After asking, “Who knows,” when the idea of Carole’s surprise return to RHONY was mentioned, Luann offered an update on where the two of them stand.

“I don’t mind Carole anymore. I mean, I had my moment with her. I would be surprised if she came back to the show, but I love that [Andy Cohen] brought her on to just kind of make amends because I know there was kind of a falling out,” she explained. “There was a whole moment of Carole and Andy not getting along.”

Moving on to Wendy, who was arrested for fraud earlier this month, Luann recalled appearing alongside her on Project Runway.

“Wendy was on that … [But] I don’t know her well,” she explained.

Luann then suggested that when it came to Bravo shows, scandal was essential.

“[There’s a] Housewives scandal and then, you know, there’s another TV show, another book. So I think scandal is, you know, is really very intrinsic,” she reasoned.

She then took aim at Erika, who has been accused of spending money meant for clients of her now-estranged husband Thomas Girardi‘s law firm.

“These are victims that have been stolen from. I can’t think of anything worse. I mean, stealing from the government? Sure. I mean, that, well, it’s not okay, but it’s not stealing from people that have been injured in accidents,” she stated.

Luann was then asked if anyone in the Bravo universe had caught her attention for a potential makeout session.

“Maybe Southern Hospitality,” she replied before signaling her past with Joe.

“[I] love Joe Bradley. He’s a hottie,” she gushed. “He’s got that Elvis kind of quality.”

According to Luann, she needs a confident man.

“I’m a lot,” she shared. “You have to be confident and cool. Passion is the key.”

As for whether they hooked up, Luann wouldn’t confirm or deny.

“We know that [his then-girlfriend Danielle Olivera] tracked him at my apartment, but I had other people here,” she insisted.

Luann de Lesseps appeared on The Real Housewives of New York City in a full-time role on seasons one through five and seven through 13.

  • He’s Home?! Fans Think Blueface Is Out Of Prison After His Mom Shares Video Of Man In Bed (WATCH)

Roommates, Blueface’s mom Karlissa Saffold Harvey has the internet going crazy with speculations that he might be home from prison. Karlissa hopped online and dropped a video showing a man laid up under the covers, and now fans are wondering if it’s really Blue.

Is Blueface Really A Free Man?!

The internet is buzzing thinking Blueface might be a free man after his mom, Karlissa Saffold Harvey, dropped a video on her Instagram Story on Sunday, Nov. 2. The clip shows a man laying in bed wrapped up in covers, then Blue’s son, Javaughn Jonathan Porter, walks in smiling. As he steps in, Karlissa says, “Your dad threw them all off didn’t he?” — seemingly referring to the pillows scattered on the floor. Then in another post Karlissa wrote, “Thank you God.”

Even with Karlissa’s video, Blueface hasn’t said he’s out yet, so fans will just have to wait and see if he’s free. Blue has remained behind bars since January 2024, serving a 4-year sentence for a September 2021 assault case. On top of that, Las Vegas issued a warrant for him over a 2022 shooting. The court also gave him extra probation, a suspended sentence, and credited him for 30 days already served.

The Internet Goes Wild Over Blueface’s Possible Return

Even though nobody knows for sure if Blue is really out of prison yet, Karlissa previously said he was just “days” from getting released earlier this month. During an interview with TMZ, she said she’s been prepping for a year for her son to come home. She also spoke about his new look, saying he packed on about 70 pounds while behind bars.

“He’s doing well. He’s doing his push-ups and sit-ups and preparing to come home,” Karlissa explained.. ‘He’s excited about coming home and getting to work and being a dad and picking up where he left off.”

Then she spilled on Blue’s post-prison plans and the vibes he’ll be stepping into once he’s out, saying she’ll hold him accountable and his dad will too.

“Moving forward, he’s going to have to be fully accountable for his decisions. I’m going to hold him accountable. His dad is going to hold him accountable. And we know who those people are. We’ll just remind him, and he’ll have to make that decision,” Karlissa added.

  • RHOC’s Gretchen Rossi Explains Her Lack of Reaction to Claims of ‘Liking’ Anti-LGBTQ Posts as Tamra Reveals What Made it “Worse” & Emily Shares What Was “Concerning”

    Credit: Instagram

Gretchen Rossi was accused of “liking” a series of controversial posts, including homophobic messages and anti-abortion rights statements, on Thursday’s finale episode of the 19th season of The Real Housewives of Orange County, and after the show aired, the cast commented on her “concerning” lack of a reaction.

As Gretchen, 47, explained why she didn’t have much to say after the accusations were made, her co-stars, including Emilly Simpson, 49, Tamra Judge, 58, and Heather Dubrow, 56, raised suspicions as Shannon Beador, 61, attempted to defend her.

“I was so confused because, in my heart, I’m like, ‘There’s no way I would’ve liked a post like that.’ What am I supposed to say to this? I know fundamentally in my heart what I feel and how I believe, so, but it’s like, how are you supposed to defend that in that moment?” Gretchen wondered on the October 30 episode of the RHOC: After Show. “I was legitimately in shock and confused. And then it just got weirder and weirder and weirder.”

“I thought you would have come unhinged if you knew in your soul that it was not you,” Jennifer Pedranti, 48, replied.

Meanwhile, Emily, who said she would have been “livid” if similar accusations were made against her, expected Gretchen to lash out at Tamra.

“I thought that her reaction would’ve been, ‘F*ck you, Tamra. This is you creating bullsh*t about me.’ And that’s what I thought the reaction might be, and then I was gonna sit and analyze that. But there was no reaction from her,” she noted as Tamra added that Gretchen’s lack of a reaction “made it worse.”

“If someone was accusing me of something, you just want to go, ‘How can I prove that this is ridiculous, that this is so not true?’” Heather reasoned.

As for what else raised a red flag for Emily, she gave a nod to Gretchen’s chat with Slade Smiley, 51, as she questioned who Gretchen was.

“The other things that was concerning for me is that she showed no emotion or really any kind of reaction until after she spoke to Slade. I don’t know where you land because I can’t tell what’s genuinely you and what’s Slade guiding you,” she explained.

Elsewhere, Shannon said she “can’t imagine” that Gretchen did what she’s accused of.

“I’ve seen a kind, devoted mom, [a] faith-based gal, and a girl who has a lot of friends in the LGBTQ community. So I don’t know. I’m waiting with you to see what happens,” she told Heather. “Something doesn’t make sense about all of it.”

Shannon then noted that everyone reacts differently to different scenarios.

Shannon Beador laughs. Gretchen just was blindsided and like, ‘What?’ And some people are [deer] in the [headlights] and some people go, and they’re very vocal about what’s going on. So I don’t want to judge her based on her reaction,” she concluded.

The three-part Real Housewives of Orange County season 19 reunion begins next Thursday, November 6, at 8/7c on Bravo.

Ice Spice Clears The Air On BBL Rumors During Livestream

LiveBitez snagged a few clips from Ice Spice’s Twitch stream where she gave fans a peek into a day in her life. While chopping it up with viewers, she kept it all the way and didn’t dodge a single question. When someone asked, “Spice, do you have a BBL?” She basically said, “find somebody else to play with” and hit them with a quick, “No!” Then she doubled down, letting folks know curves run in her family, “No babe! This is genetic.”

Along with shutting down the surgery talk, Ice Spice also spilled on her go-to chill fit. The ‘Munch’ rapper told fans she loves rocking men’s boxers when she’s laid up, chilling with no makeup on. But when bae pulls up? She said the boxers got to go!

Spice Responds To Weight Loss Criticism

Folks have been clocking Ice Spice’s figure for a minute now. Prior to the BBL and cosmetic surgery allegations, they were on her heavy trying to credit Ozempic as the reason behind her weight loss after she appeared with a slimmer figure back in March. But in true Ice Spice fashion, she shut it all down real quick during an X spaces session in 2024. She said she wished people never even learned about Ozempic. The femcee told fans that Ozempic had nothing to do with her snatched bawdy. It was actually putting in work in the gym and sticking to a healthy diet that did the trick. “It’s called the gym, it’s called eating healthy, it’s called being on tour. Like, what the hell?” Ice stated.

  • REPORT: RHONJ Producers Are “Back to Square One” After Unimpressive Test Filming & Amid Jennifer Aydin’s Alleged Exit

    Credit: Bravo

The Real Housewives of New Jersey producers are reportedly at odds over how to move forward with the upcoming 15th season.

On the heels of an announcement made by Jennifer Aydin, 48, on Thursday, which seemingly confirmed her departure from the show, an insider suggested that after Melissa Gorga, 46, reportedly test filmed with Margaret Josephs, 58, Dolores Catania, 54, and some potential newbies, producers were “back to square one.”

“After the test filming, the producers weren’t overly thrilled with what they captured,” a source told Radar Online on October 30. “At this point, they’re back to square one, and don’t know how to move forward. If they bring back the entire cast as is, they still have the problem of all of the drama they left off with, though there may be a slight change if Teresa Giudice and Joe Gorga/Melissa Gorga are actually able to make amends and stay true to that.”

While Teresa, 53, has reached out to Joe, 51, in an effort to make peace within their family, which would theoretically open up more possibilities for scenes with Melissa, the insider went on to note that it wouldn’t solve all the problems that producers are facing.

“You still have Danielle Cabral, who hates Teresa, Margaret, and Teresa, who don’t get along, Rachel Fuda, who doesn’t get along with Teresa, and Dolores in the middle. It’s a complicated situation, and that’s why Bravo’s still not sure how to move forward,” the source explained.

“The only definite is that Jennifer Aydin won’t be returning,” they added.

As for where things stand as of now, the insider said that when it comes to production, no filming start date has been scheduled quite yet.

“Things remain in limbo,” they noted. “It’s a sad state of affairs both for the cast and for the fans of the show, all of whom are clamoring for its return.”

On Thursday, in a lengthy post shared to her Instagram account, Jennifer confirmed she had not been asked to return for the new season.

“Hey guys, just wanted to hop on here and update you guys on a few things. A lot of you have been asking me if I’m still on the [show] or not. I can honestly say that nobody has told me anything. And they still haven’t told me anything. But I haven’t checked either. Life’s been pretty busy. And I would only think about it when people asked, which is why I would’ve liked to have known, so I can let you guys know. You know me, I like to keep it real,” Jennifer wrote.

“And all I’ve heard is what you’ve heard. You probably know more than me, actually. I’ve heard they are test-filming. And I wasn’t invited to BravoCon. So by the looks of it, I think it’s safe to say, probably not. And that’s OK. I’m good,” she added.

More Details On The Tragic Passing Of Jamar Champ

As The Shade Room previously reported, during the early hours of Tuesday, October 28, Masika Kalysha’s estranged husband, Jamar Champ, was the victim of a wrong-way driver who entered the Katy Freeway in Houston and crashed into his Cybertruck. Subsequently, the wrong-way driver’s car caught fire, and the Cybertruck spun into a semi — killing Champ at the scene. Hours afterward, Kalysha took to X, formerly known as Twitter, sharing that she had received the “worst news” of her life.

That afternoon, Kalysha pleaded with the media to refrain from sharing the details of her husband’s accident. She explained that her children were at school, and she wanted to be the one to inform them before anyone else.

Additionally, she shared an exclusive statement with TSR, noting her family’s “devastating loss.”

On Thursday, October 30, Kalysha penned a lengthy message to Champ via Instagram.

Then, she followed up, noting her frustration at the driver who claimed his life,  per The Shade Room.

For those unfamiliar, Masika Kalysha and Jamar Champ reportedly wed in 2021. They welcomed a daughter named Amari while Champ embraced Kalysha’s older daughter, Khari, whom she shares with Fetty Wap.

In 2023, Kalysha took to a livestream to speak on her and Champ’s separation. Then, in 2024, she spoke about her and Champ taking to mediation amid their apparent divorce.

  • We’re testing preschoolers for giftedness. Experts say that doesn’t work

by Sarah Carr, The Hechinger Report
    October 31, 2025

When I was a kindergartner in the 1980s, the “gifted” programming for my class could be found inside of a chest.

I don’t know what toys and learning materials lived there, since I wasn’t one of the handful of presumably more academically advanced kiddos that my kindergarten teacher invited to open the chest. My distinct impression at the time was that my teacher didn’t think I was worthy of the enrichment because I frequently spilled my chocolate milk at lunch and I had also once forgotten to hang a sheet of paper on the class easel — instead painting an elaborate and detailed picture on the stand itself. The withering look on my teacher’s face after seeing the easel assured me that, gifted, I was not.

The memory, and the enduring mystery of that chest, resurfaced recently when New York City mayoral front-runner Zohran Mamdani announced that if elected on Nov. 4, he would support ending kindergarten entry to the city’s public school gifted program. While many pundits and parents debated the political fallout of the proposal — the city’s segregated gifted program has for decades been credited with keeping many white and wealthier families in the public school system — I wondered what exactly it means to be a gifted kindergartner. In New York City, the determination is made several months before kindergarten starts, but how good is a screening mechanism for 4-year-olds at predicting academic prowess years down the road?

New York is not unique for opting to send kids as young as preschool down an accelerated path, no repeat display of giftedness required. It’s common practice at many private schools to try to measure young children’s academic abilities for admissions purposes. Other communities, including Houston and Miami, start gifted or accelerated programs in public schools as early as kindergarten, according to the National Center for Research on Gifted Education. When I reported on schools in New Orleans 15 years ago, they even had a few gifted prekindergarten programs at highly sought after public schools, which enrolled 4-year-olds whose seemingly stunning intellectual abilities were determined at age 3. It’s more common, however, for gifted programs in the public schools to start between grades 2 and 4, according to the center’s surveys.

There is an assumption embedded in the persistence of gifted programs for the littles that it’s possible to assess a child’s potential, sometimes before they even start school. New York City has followed a long and winding road in its search for the best way to do this. And after more than five decades, the city’s experience offers a case study in how elusive — and, at times, distracting — that quest remains.

Three main strategies are used to assign young children to gifted programs, according to the center. The most common path is cognitive testing, which attempts to rate a child’s intelligence in relation to their peer group. Then there is achievement testing, which is supposed to measure how much and how fast a child is learning in school. And the third strategy is teacher evaluations. Some districts use the three measures in combination with each other.

For nearly four decades, New York prioritized the first strategy, deploying an ever-evolving array of cognitive and IQ tests on its would-be gifted 4-year-olds — tests that families often signed up for in search of competitive advantage as much as anything else.

Several years ago, a Brooklyn parent named Christine checked out an open house for a citywide gifted elementary school, knowing her child was likely just shy of the test score needed to get in. (Christine did not want her last name used to protect her daughter’s privacy.)

The school required her to show paperwork at the door confirming that her daughter had a relatively high score; and when Christine flashed the proof, the PTA member at the door congratulated her. That and the lack of diversity gave the school an exclusive vibe, Christine recalled.

“The resources were incredible,” she said. “The library was huge, there was a room full of blocks. It definitely made me envious, because I knew she was not getting in.” Yet years later, she feels “icky” about even visiting.

Eishika Ahmed’s parents had opportunities of all kinds in mind when they had her tested for gifted kindergarten nearly two decades ago. Ahmed, now 23, remembers an administrator in a small white room with fluorescent lights asking her which boat in a series of cartoonish pictures was “wide.” The then 4-year-old had no idea.

“She didn’t look very pleased with my answer,” Ahmed recalled. She did not get into the kindergarten program.

Equity and reliability have been long-running concerns for districts relying on cognitive tests.

In New York, public school parents in some districts were once able to pay private psychologists to evaluate their children — a permissiveness that led to “a series of alleged abuses,” wrote Norm Fruchter, a now-deceased activist, educator and school board leader in a 2019 article called “The Spoils of Whiteness: New York City’s Gifted and Talented Programs.”

In New Orleans, there was a similar disparity between the private and public testing of 3-year-olds when I lived and reported on schools there. Families could sit on a waitlist, sometimes for months, to take their children through the free process at the district central office. In 2008, the year I wrote about the issue, only five of the 153 3-year-olds tested by the district met the gifted benchmark. But families could also pay a few hundred dollars and go to a private tester who, over the same time period, identified at least 64 children as gifted. “I don’t know if everybody is paying,” one parent told me at the time, “but it defeats the purpose of a public school if you have to pay $300 to get them in.”

Even after New York City districts outlawed private testers, concerns persisted about parents paying for pricey and extensive test prep to teach them common words and concepts featured on the tests. Moreover, some researchers have worried about racial and cultural bias in cognitive tests more generally. Critics, Fruchter wrote, had long considered them at least partly to assess knowledge of the “reigning cultural milieu in which test-makers and applicants alike were immersed.”

Across the country, these concerns have led some schools and districts, including New York City, to shift to “nonverbal tests,” which try to assess innate capacity more than experience and exposure.

But those tests haven’t made cognitive testing more equitable, said Betsy McCoach, a professor of psychometrics and quantitative psychology at Fordham University and co-principal investigator at the National Center for Research on Gifted Education.

“There is no way to take prior experience out of a test,” she said. “I wish we could.” Children who’ve had more exposure to tests, problem-solving and patterns are still going to have an advantage on a nonverbal test, McCoach added.

And no test can overcome the fact that for very young children, scores can change significantly from year to year, or even week to week. In 2024, researchers analyzed more than 200 studies on the stability of cognitive abilities at different ages. They found that for 4-year-olds, cognitive test scores are not very predictive of long-term scores — or even, necessarily, short-term ones.

There’s not enough stability “to say that if we assess someone at age 4, 5, 6 or 7 that a child would or wouldn’t be well-served by being in a gifted program” for multiple years, said Moritz Breit, the lead author of the study and a post-doctoral researcher in the psychology department at the University of Trier in Germany.

Scores don’t start to become very consistent until later in elementary school, with stability peaking in late adolescence.

But for 4-year-olds? “Stability is too low for high-stakes decisions,” he said.

Eishika Ahmed is just one example of how early testing may not predict future achievement. Even though she did not enroll in the kindergarten gifted program, by third grade she was selected for an accelerated program at her school called “top class.”

Years later, still struck by the inequity of the whole process, she wrote a 2023 essay for the think tank The Century Foundation about it. “The elementary school a child attends shouldn’t have such significant influence over the trajectory of their entire life,” she wrote. “But for students in New York City public schools, there is a real pipeline effect that extends from kindergarten to college. Students who do not enter the pipeline by attending G&T programs at an early age might not have the opportunity to try again.”

Partly because of the concerns about cognitive tests, New York City dropped intelligence testing entirely in 2021 and shifted to declaring kindergartners gifted based on prekindergarten teacher recommendations. A recent article in Chalkbeat noted that after ending the testing for the youngest, diversity in the kindergarten gifted program increased: In 2023-24, 30 percent of the children were Black and Latino, compared to just 12 percent in 2020, Chalkbeat reported. Teachers in the programs also describe enrolling a broader range of students, including more neurodivergent ones.

The big problem, according to several experts, is that when hundreds of individual prekindergarten teachers evaluate 4-year-olds for giftedness, any consistency in defining it can get lost, even if the teachers are guided on what to look for.

“The word is drained of meaning because teachers are not thinking about the same thing,” said Sam Meisels, the founding executive director of the Buffett Early Childhood Institute at the University of Nebraska.

Breit said that research has found that teacher evaluations and grades for young children are less stable and predictive than the (already unstable) cognitive testing.

“People are very bad at looking at another person and inferring a lot about what’s going on under the hood,” he said. “When you say, ‘Cognitive abilities are not stable, let’s switch to something else,’ the problem is that there is nothing else to switch to when the goal is stability. Young children are changing a lot.”

Related: PROOF POINTS: How do you find a gifted child?

No one denies that access to gifted programming has been transformative for countless children. McCoach, the Fordham professor, points out that there should be something more challenging for the children who arrive at kindergarten already reading and doing arithmetic, who can be bored moving at the regular pace.

In an ideal world, experts say, there would be universal screening for giftedness (which some districts, but not New York, have embraced), using multiple measures in a thoughtful way, and there would be frequent entry — and exit — points for the programs. In the early elementary years, that would look less like separate gifted programming and a lot more like meeting every kid where they are.

“The question shouldn’t really be: Are you the ‘Big G’?” said McCoach. “That sounds so permanent and stable. The question should be: Who are the kids who need something more than what we are providing in the curriculum?”

But in the real world, individualized instruction has frequently proved elusive with underresourced schools, large class sizes and teachers who are tasked with catching up the students who are furthest behind. That persistent struggle has provided advocates of gifted education in the early elementary years with what’s perhaps their most powerful argument in sustaining such programs — but it reminds me of that old adage about treating the symptom rather than the disease.

At some point a year or two after kindergarten, I did get the chance to be among the chosen when I was selected for a pull-out program known as BEEP. I have no recollection of how we were picked, how often we met or what we did, apart from a performance the BEEP kids held of St. George and the Dragon. I played St. George and I remember uttering one line, declaring my intent to fight the dragon or die. I also remember vividly how much being in BEEP boosted my confidence in my potential — probably its greatest gift.

Forty years later, the research is clear that every kid deserves the chance — and not just one — to slay a dragon. “You want to give every child the best opportunity to learn as possible,” said Meisels. But when it comes to separate gifted programming for select early elementary school students, “Is there something out there that says their selection is valid? We don’t have that.”

“It seems,” he added, “to be a case of people just fooling themselves with the language.”

  • Jennifer Aydin Seemingly Confirms Exit From RHONJ After 6 Seasons, Reveals She “Wasn’t Invited to Bravocon” and Announces New Podcast

    Credit: Elder Ordonez/INSTARimages

Jennifer Aydin confirmed she had not been asked to appear on the upcoming 15th season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey as she promoted her new podcast on Instagram on Thursday.

Months after Jennifer, 48, shamed an elderly woman working at Jersey Mike’s, which resulted in labels like “disgusting” and “entitled,” cost her a gig on a Real Housewives cruise, and led Andy Cohen, 57, to speak out against her, the mother of five shared a lengthy message on Instagram in which she revealed that she had not heard from producers and would not be attending BravoCon, which likely meant she wouldn’t be included in the new season.

“Hey guys, just wanted to hop on here and update you guys on a few things. A lot of you have been asking me if I’m still on the [show] or not. I can honestly say that nobody has told me anything. And they still haven’t told me anything. But I haven’t checked either. Life’s been pretty busy. And I would only think about it when people asked, which is why I would’ve liked to have known so I can let you guys know. You know me, I like to keep it real,” she began on October 30.

“And all I’ve heard is what you’ve heard. You probably know more than me, actually. I’ve heard they are test filming. And I wasn’t invited to BravoCon. So by the looks of it, I think it’s safe to say, probably not. And that’s OK. I’m good,” she continued.

In a second post, Jennifer spoke of a potential firing.

“Maybe that’s how they fire people these days, [by] just moving on without telling the person. Maybe it’s awkward for them. I don’t know. But if they did tell me, I would’ve said, ‘Thanks for letting me know, and thanks so much for the journey — wish you guys the best!’ And I mean that. I’ll always be grateful for my time on the show. It was quite the experience, to say the least,” she explained.

While Jennifer didn’t say that she’d been fired outright, she made it clear she was ready to move on from her time on RHONJ, which she joined in 2018 for season nine.

“So it’s time to keep it moving … and I got a podcast! It’s called TV Gold and it’s not about Housewives lol … Of course, I’ll touch on it at times since it was such a big part of my life, but the podcast is more going to be about pop culture, entertainment, fashion, health, wellness, and beauty! All with a flare of funny, handled by yours truly, Jennifer Aydin,” she revealed.

“So it’s out with the Old, and onto the Gold! With me Jennifer Aydin,” she concluded.

Jennifer Aydin Seemingly Announces She's Been Fired From RHONJ

Jennifer then shared an additional statement on her Instagram Story.

“Message of the day: Don’t live in the past … Learn from it and move forward,” it read.

Jennifer Aydin Promotes Podcast After Alleged RHONJ Exit

Following the sharing of her apparent exit announcement, Jennifer was met with a bevy of comments from her fans, many of whom expressed sadness.

RHONJ will NEVER BE THE SAME. Jen was always real and always showed her life and didn’t have fake storylines like some,” one person wrote.

“What a loss to the show,” another agreed.

“I can’t watch if there’s no Jen Aydin! We love you,” shared a third.

Someone else said, “You’re still a gem with or WITHOUT the show. You came on and changed [RHONJ] for the better! We love you regardless! A class act and truly one of a kind person! My favorite housewife.”

And another person noted they would “miss seeing [Jennifer] on [RHONJ]!!”

For nearly a decade DJ Sizzle has built a reputation in the queer POC and Spanish-speaking undocumented communities for making the space for them to come together to celebrate their culture and partake in the ultimate act of resistance — joy.

Couples, companions, comadres all dance together on the dancefloor at Cumbiatón. (Photo courtesy of Cumbiatón).

Cumbiatón was created during the first Trump administration as a direct response to the erasure, racism, homophobia and xenophobia that was engrained into the administration’s mission for those first four years. Now that the second Trump administration is upon us, the racism, homophobia, transphobia and xenophobia are tenfold.

This event space is a ‘party for the hood, by the hood.’ It is led by women, queer and trans people of color in every aspect of the production process.

The recent fires that burned through Altadena and Pacific Palisades made DJ Sizzle decide to step back from marketing the event in Los Angeles, an area where people had just lost their businesses, homes and where their lives were completely thrown for a loop.

Now they’re back, doubling-down on their mission to bring cumbias, corridos and all the music many of us grew up listening to, to places that are accessible and safe for our communities.

“I started Cumbiatón back in 2016, right after the election — which was weirdly similar because we’re going through it again. And a lot of us come from the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) movement. We were the ones to really push for that to happen along with the DREAM Act.”

DJ Sizzle says that she wanted to create a space out on the streets to celebrate life and come together, because of how mentally and physically taxing it is to be a part of the marginalized communities that were and still are, a major target for ongoing political attacks.

Edwin Soto and Julio Salgado pose for a photo at a Cumbiaton event in 2024. (Photo courtesy of Cumbiatón).

“We need these spaces so that we can kind of refuel and rejoice in each other’s existence,” said DJ Sizzle. “Because we saw each other out on the street a lot, but never did we really have time to sit down, have a drink, talk, laugh. So I found that music was the way to bring people together and that’s how Cumbiatón got started. It was honestly like a movement of political resistance through music.”

DJ Sizzle is an undocumented community organizer who aims to not only bring awareness to the issues that her communities face, but also to make space to celebrate the wins and bond over the music that brings people in Latin America, East L.A., Boyle Heights and the Bay area together.

Julio Salgado, a queer, visionary artist and migrant rights activist from Ensenada, Baja California with roots in Long Beach and the Bay Area, connected with DJ Sizzle over their shared passion in advocating for immigrant rights.

“Cumbiatón was created during the first [Trump] administration, where you know, a lot of people were really bummed out and so what Sizzle wanted to create was a place where people could come together and celebrate ourselves,” said Salgado. “Fast-forward to the second [Trump] administration and we’re here and feel a little bit more like: ‘oh shit, things are bad again.’ But, things have always been bad.”

Salgado is involved with Cumbiatón through his art. He is a mixed-media artist who creates cartoons using his lived experience with his sobriety journey, undocumented status and queer identity.

With a background in journalism from California State University, Long Beach, Salgado documents what activists do in the undocumented spaces he has been a part of throughout his life.

In 2017, Salgado moved back to Long Beach from the Bay Area, and at the time he started doing political artwork and posters for protests against the first Trump administration, but because the nature of that work can be very tiring, he says that he turned to a more uplifting version of his art where he also draws the joy and unity in his communities.

When he and Sizzle linked up to collaborate during that time, he thought he could use his skills to help uplift this brand and bring it to the forefront of the many events that saturate the party landscape.

DJ Sizzle doing her thing on stage, giving the crowd the music they went looking for. (Photo courtesy of Cumbiatón).

“We are familiar with using the dance floor as a way to kind of put the trauma a little bit away just for one night, get together and completely forget,” said Salgado.

Coming from an undocumented background, Salgado and Sizzle say that their experience with their legal status has made them very aware of how to go about the ID-check process at the door for their events.

“When you’re undocumented, you have something called a [High Security Consular Registration (HSCR)] and it’s kind of like your ID and many of these heterosexual clubs would see that and say it was fake,” said Salgado. “But at the gay club, they didn’t care.”

Just being conscious of what that form of ID looks like and knowing that it’s not fake, helps many of the hundreds of people who come through for Cumbiatón, feel just slightly more at ease.

Edwin Soto, who is another community activist and leader in the undocu-queer community, is also involved in the planning and organizing of the event.

In the long journey of making Cumbiatón what it is now, they say that they have all been very intentional about who they bring in, making sure that whoever they are, they also understand the experience of being undocumented and accepted anyway.

“Something that Sizzle and the team have been very intentional about is making sure that [the security at the door] knows that someone might be using their consulate card,” said Soto.

Bringing together this event space is no easy task, considering the fact that their events are deeply thought out, intentional and inclusive of not just people of color, but also people with differing abilities and people who do not reflect the norm in West Hollywood clubs.

“We created the space that we were longing for that we did not see in West Hollywood,” he said. “[Cumbiatón] is what life could really be like. Where women are not harassed by men. Where people are not body-shamed for what they’re wearing.”

When it comes to their lives outside of Cumbiatón and partying, Sizzle says that it does get exhausting and planning the event gets overwhelming.

“It is really difficult, I’m not going to lie,” said DJ Sizzle. “We are at a disadvantage being queer and being undocumented because this administration triggers us to a point that, anyone who is not a part of those identities or marginalized communities would ever be able to understand,” said Sizzle. “There are times where I’m just like: ‘I’m going to cocoon for a little bit’ and then that affects the marketing and the communication.”

Usually, the events bring in hundreds of people who are looking for community, safety and inclusion. (Photo courtesy of Cumbiatón).

That’s a little bit about what goes on behind the scenes — which really shouldn’t come as a surprise for anyone who is out there fighting for basic human rights, while also making the space to party and enjoy themselves.

“I’m really trying to find balance and honestly my life raft are my friends and my community,” she said. “Like, being able to share, being able to have this plática, and be like ‘bitch, I see you and I know its fucked up, but we got each other.’”

Cumbiatón was made with the purpose of making space to include and invite the many different people in these communities who are otherwise sidelined in broader conversations and in party scenes where they are not as inclusive or thoughtful about their attendees.

“How beautiful is it to be queer and listen to rancheras and to norteñas and cumbia, and to just own it,” said Soto.

  • Whew! Kamala Harris Keeps It Real About Where She Stands With Joe Biden Today (VIDEO)

Whew, y’all — it looks like Kamala Harris is not holding back this time. In a revealing new sit-down that’s already making waves, the former Vice President opened up about a tense moment with Joe Biden — offering a glimpse into the complicated dynamics between them and reflecting on where their relationship stands today. Harris’ candid account raises the question fans have been buzzing about: after all they’ve been through, are they still friends?

RELATED: 7 Times Kamala Harris Dropped Bombshells About Her Presidential Run, Joe Biden & Donald Trump In New Book ‘107 Days’ (RECAP)

Kamala Harris Recalls A Call That Shook Her

During her appearance on The Diary of a CEO podcast, Harris revealed that ahead of her fiery debate with Donald Trump, she got a call from then-President Joe Biden — one that she expected would hype her up for the battle ahead. Instead, she says, it left her frustrated and disappointed. According to Harris, Biden told her that “a group of people” in Pennsylvania had been speaking negatively about her because they thought she’d been talking trash about him. Harris didn’t mince words, calling the exchange an example of why her relationship with Biden remains “complicated.

“I was told that he wanted to call so that I’d be ready,” Harris revealed. “I was so sure it was to buck me up and (say) ‘go get ‘em’ … When I hung up the phone I was just – it was unbelievable, and I was – yes I was angry, and deeply disappointed. It was so unnecessary.”

The TL Felt Kamala’s Pain — And Her Power

As soon as the clip hit The Shade Room’s Instagram, the comment section lit up like wildfire. Fans pointed out how Kamala’s body language said it all. Additionally, many shared sympathy for how things went down, with countless users saying they still believe in her leadership. And, some are hoping she throws her hat back in the ring one day.

One Instagram user @polishdon_ said, “You can tell it’s complicated by the way she changed her posture.

This Instagram user @raisean__moody wrote, “I think there’s unspoken resentment she has for Joe, rightfully so because he & his team knew his mental competency before he ran again.

And, Instagram user @sampsonmccormick said, “She doesn’t like Biden and that ain’t her friend—she got a dirty deal and was set up to lose. 🤷🏾‍♂️”

Meanwhile, Instagram user @urchitowndiva added, “I still be thinking about that debate. Like people really voted for a man trying to convince us that people was eating dogs and cats 😭”

While Instagram user @tsadiva shared, “Girl they didn’t deserve you

Lastly, Instagram user @sugarbombbakery.co commented, “She’s so poised and brilliant 😍”

Sis Kept It Cute, But The Side-Eye Was Clear

The conversation comes as part of Harris’ media tour promoting her book ‘107 Days,’ where she’s been reflecting on her whirlwind time in the spotlight. She kept it real about her feelings, saying that while she still has “a great deal of affection” for Biden, he still “greatly disappointed” her.

Harris also added that she never worried about Biden’s ability to serve as President. However, she seemingly hinted at regret on the brutal grind of him staying in the White House. “I do reflect on whether I should have had a conversation with him, urging him not to run,” Harris admitted. She continued, saying, “My concern, especially on reflection is, should I have actually raised it?” Additionally, she wondered whether holding back was an act of “grace or recklessness.” Harris may be all smiles on camera, but this latest confession proves she’s still unpacking a political partnership that wasn’t always picture-perfect.

  • ‘The clock is ticking’: Shutdown imperils food, child care for many – The Hechinger Report

For families in more than a hundred Head Start programs across the country, November could mark the beginning of some hard decisions.

On Saturday, 134 Head Start centers serving 58,400 children would normally receive their annual federal funding, but the ongoing government shutdown has put that money in jeopardy. The federally funded Head Start provides free preschool and child care for low-income families, and is particularly important to rural communities with few other child care options.

At the same time, the federal government has said that because of the shutdown, it cannot distribute Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits that families also expect on the first of the month. Plus, a program that provides extra money for families to buy milk, baby formula, and fruit and vegetables is also running out of $300 million in emergency funding provided to it earlier this month.

Related: Young children have unique needs and providing the right care can be a challenge. Our free early childhood education newsletter tracks the issues.

All this means low-income families are facing upheaval on multiple fronts, said Christy Gleason, the vice president of policy, advocacy and campaigns for the nonprofit group Save the Children. Families in Head Start often receive other federal benefits, so they could simultaneously be facing a disruption in child care — and the meals provided there — and public food assistance.

“You’re going to end up with parents and caregivers who are skipping meals themselves, because that’s the way they put food on the table for their kids,” Gleason said. Save the Children manages Head Start programs in rural Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Tennessee, but its programs are not among those affected by the Nov. 1 annual funding deadline. Head Start has 1,600 programs that receive their yearly funding throughout the calendar year.

There are still a few days left to avert the crisis, Gleason said. More than two dozen states are suing the government to force it to use a pot of money that had been set aside for paying SNAP benefits in an emergency. President Donald Trump also said this week that the food aid situation would be fixed, but didn’t offer details. Federal lawmakers have also introduced different proposals to keep food assistance money flowing. A handful of states said they will continue to pay for the supplemental milk and formula program, known as WIC. Head Start programs may be able to tap local money, but that isn’t expected to last long.

“The clock is ticking,” Gleason said. “Every hour that goes by is an hour where the stress for these families grows, but it’s not too late for government action to change course and make sure children are not the ones to suffer the consequences of political decisions.”

New data quantifies child care gaps

Nearly 15 million ages 5 and under in the United States have “all available parents” — both adults in a two-parent household, or one if the child has one adult caregiver — in the workforce. The country has about 11 million licensed or registered child care slots.

That leaves about 4 million children whose families may need child care — a hard-to-grasp number that obscures the fact that some parts of the country may have greater needs than other regions because child care providers are concentrated in some areas and sparse in others.

The Buffett Early Childhood Institute, based at the University of Nebraska, is trying to address that problem. It has created a map that it says will give a more accurate view of where child care is needed the most, down to the congressional district.

The map captures the number of children with working parents and the number of available spots in licensed child care. What it cannot capture is demand — not every family needs child care, even families with parents in the workforce — but the map does allow policymakers a starting place for a more nuanced evaluation of their community’s needs.

“We know the limitations of the data, but we also know in order to address the gap, this needs to be broken down into bite-sized pieces,” said Linda Smith, director of policy at the Buffett Institute.

  • Pastor Jamal Bryant Redirects Church Donations To Feed Families As Millions Prepare To Lose EBT Benefits (VIDEO)

As the government shutdown drags on, millions of Americans are bracing for potential disruptions to critical programs — including SNAP benefits. Starting November 1st, those who rely on the program could see their assistance paused, leaving families scrambling to put food on the table. Amid the uncertainty, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church Pastor, Jamal Bryant, is urging his community to step up in a different way. All this unfolds as DoorDash pledges meals and states take the Trump administration to court.

RELATED: Trump Administration Rejects Using Emergency Funds For EBT As Millions On Verge Of Losing SNAP Benefits

Pastor Bryant Shifts $1M Fundraiser To Feed Families

According to reports, this past Sunday was supposed to be a big fundraising day for the Georgia church. As they aimed to raise $1 million, Pastor Bryant made the decision to pause the initiative until the shutdown ends. In a sentimental message, the Georgia pastor shared:

“The congregation is supposed to be sensitive to the needs of the community, knowing that people are literally just trying to keep their heads above water. We’re opening up our arms and opening up our hearts at the same time.”

Additionally, the church normally hands out groceries every other Saturday to around 1,500 people. But, this weekend they’re planning to step it up to serve 2,000. His decision comes as more than 40 million Americans receiving SNAP benefits may lose them in just a few days. As previously reported, the USDA has confirmed that no emergency assistance will be provided for relief. For communities already struggling, the church’s move shows how local support can fill gaps when the system falls short.

24 States Sue Trump Admin Over SNAP Suspension

A massive coalition of 24 states plus D.C. is taking the Trump administration to court over the suspension of SNAP benefits. Big-name states like California, New York, and Pennsylvania are asking a federal judge in Massachusetts to step in. They’re also asking the judge to make the Department of Agriculture continue SNAP benefits for November, even if it means using contingency funds. With over 25 million people in these states alone relying on SNAP, officials are calling the suspension not just unfair, but unlawful.

In their lawsuit, the states warn that cutting off food stamps could have dire consequences and negative health impacts on children. “Shutting off SNAP benefits will cause deterioration of public health and well-being,” the filing reads. The states involved in the suit stretch coast to coast, including Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, and Illinois. Additionally, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, and more are included in the pact — making it one of the biggest legal challenges to the administration’s food aid cuts yet.

DoorDash Offers 1 Million Free Meals Amid EBT Freeze

The government shutdown threatens SNAP benefits for millions of families, including 21 million kids. Furthermore, it leaves countless at risk of going hungry while food banks struggle to keep up. DoorDash is stepping in with an Emergency Food Response, offering free delivery for its Project DASH partners. The company is also waiving fees on roughly 300,000 SNAP orders, adding to the 135 million meals it has already helped deliver. “No one should go hungry in America—period,” said Max Rettig, DoorDash VP. Meanwhile, Eric Mitchell of the Alliance to End Hunger added that while this helps temporarily, full SNAP benefits must be restored immediately to protect millions of people in need.

  • RHOSLC Star Angie Katsanevas’ Alleged DMs With Blogger Are Leaked, See Shady Comments About Lisa & Bronwyn, Apparent Storyline Plot, & Link to Bronwyn’s Court Doc Scandal?

    Credit: MediaPunch/INSTARimages

Angie Katsanevas has been targeted with an online leak of her alleged DMs.

Following Tuesday night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, where Lisa Barlow, 50, mentioned leaked DMs between Angie, 51, and a blogger, X’s The Bravo Derm shared a series of messages believed to have been sent between them and the reality star, which showcased Angie discussing her castmates, including Lisa and Bronwyn Newport, 40, and her Greek citizenship storyline, which the blogger seemingly pitched to her.

“You can go on Twitter right now, and [Angie] has lots of conversations with a guy named Pagey, and he’s sharing their DMS right now. He inspired her Greek citizenship and a few other things. She has a lot to say about me and Bronwyn too,” Lisa revealed on the October 28 episode of WWHL.

Hours later, in a series of screenshots shared by Bravo Snark Side on Instagram, who noted that The Bravo Derm was the first Bravo fan page to find the court listings of Bronwyn, and added that “Angie did too apparently,” the supposed messages were revealed.

In one message from their account on X, Pagey, of The Bravo Derm, described Lisa as a “textbook narcissist,” but funny.

“Lol I think you’re right. We definitely need her crazy meltdowns. Everyone plays their role,” Angie reportedly replied.

Then, after seemingly calling Monica Garcia, 42, “creepy,” Angie allegedly acknowledged that Lisa was “definitely another necessary character.”

“I’m always fascinated. Sometimes I wish I was a bit more delusional. It looks fun,” the message read.

Angie also appeared to react to Pagey saying that Bronwyn was “all over the place” and a “pathological liar.”

“I know this is a pattern. I’m seeing. That’s why I love my friendship with [Mary Cosby],” she seemingly replied.

As the alleged messages continued, Angie called out Bronwyn for lying about her $4 million necklace and suggested that Bronwyn would “throw anyone under the bus.”

Other messages reportedly exchanged between Angie and Pagey saw Pagey encouraging Angie to gain dual citizenship in Greece, noting that it would make for a great storyline and set up a fun cast trip.

“I’m looking into my Greek citizenship … It’s been on my radar for a while. It would be a great celebration. My dad would be so touched,” Angie, who has featured her citizenship efforts on the show, seemingly agreed.

There was also an alleged DM shared in which Angie appeared to respond to someone named Connie not wanting her on the show. However, it is unclear whether she was referring to a friend of Whitney Rose‘s, who had been seen on RHOSLC, or using the name to refer to Bronwyn, whom Pagey had labeled “Con-wyn.”

“The fact that she didn’t think I should be on, but she should was comical. If she felt I should be on she would not have been so hard on me. Icing me out from Palm Springs. She had a problem from day one!” Angie reportedly stated.

Meanwhile, in a new tweet shared by Pagey, they hinted that Angie may have faked sickness on Tuesday’s RHOSLC in an effort to avoid being part of all the chatter surrounding Lisa and her potential interaction with bloggers.

“Interesting that Angie — the ONLY castmember I’ve EVER communicated with about Conwyn — was ‘seasick,’ for that dinner…,” they wrote.

  • RHOSLC’s Lisa Barlow Shades Whitney’s Lifestyle & Hints Angie’s Been Digging Up Dirt, Plus She Reacts to Heather Accusing Her of Being Source of Dirt, Captain Sandy’s Claim, Lawsuits, & Todd Diss

    Credit: Sergi Alexander/Bravo

Lisa Barlow got emotional on Tuesday’s Watch What Happens Live after being asked about Heather Gay accusing her of leaking information about the cast to bloggers.

While also shading the lifestyle of Whitney Rose, 39, seemingly accusing Angie Katsanevas, 51, of digging up dirt on her and Bronwyn Newport, 40, and reacting to Below Deck: Mediterranean‘s Captain Sandy Yawn, 60, calling her out, the 50-year-old Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star offered an update on the lawsuits against her, clapped back at Todd Bradley, 66, and admitted to being hurt by Heather, 51.

“I felt like it was a little snaky, and it hurt my feelings a lot because I thought we were in a great place,” Lisa explained on the October 28 episode of WWHL. “We’ve gone through so much together, and two years ago she said to me, ‘I wanted everyone to hate you, and when they did, it still didn’t feel good.’ So it really hurt me that she went back.”

After starting to cry, Lisa reacted to the idea that lashing out made her seem guilty.

“No, because what happened is, Bronwyn sat down at the table and she immediately said, ‘I felt like Whitney did it,’ and she said she got her information from Dana Wilkey. And that’s where I stood up for Whitney and said, ‘No one here would do that. Whitney wouldn’t do that. None of us here would do it.’ And then Whitney, instead of being like, ’Thank you,’ was like, ‘You did this to me last year.’ And I’m like, ‘I didn’t do it to you last year. It was proven, like all of your false allegations, were wrong.’ So it started a whole other thing,” she explained.

She then targeted Whitney, saying that while there are a “few” cast members whose lifestyles are far from hers, Whitney’s was the farthest.

As for Angie, after being asked about the potential dirt she dug up about another cast member, Lisa signaled recent tweets.

“I’m gonna save that one, but you can go on Twitter right now, and she has lots of conversations with a guy named Pagey, and he’s sharing their DMs right now. He inspired her Greek citizenship and a few other things. She has a lot to say about me and Bronwyn, too,” Lisa alleged.

Then, when someone wanted to know why she forgave Whitney so much quicker than Angie, Lisa said she felt Angie had “a consummate issue” with her.

“It doesn’t go away. It’s exhausting … I don’t even like to talk badly about her because we were such good friends that it feels icky. I’d rather just not say anything,” she reasoned.

In addition to Heather’s accusations, Tuesday’s RHOSLC also showed the cast enjoying time on a yacht with Captain Jason Chambers, 52, whom Lisa was thoroughly impressed with.

“He works really hard,” she said of the Below Deck: Down Under star. “I didn’t expect him to work so hard. He was busy, breaking a sweat. He does a really good job.”

Also regarding Below Deck, Lisa commented on Sandy not being excited to see her at BravoCon next month and slamming her behavior on RHOSLC as “not cool” during an interview with Decider.

“Captain Sandy, I love her. We went to London and I thought she was amazing. She’s cool,” Lisa stated.

Moving on to her four lawsuits, Lisa revealed they were dismissed while explaining the issue with her clarity lunch.

“They’re civil lawsuits. They’re not criminal. I’ve never done anything criminal. Everyone online that keeps saying I’m going to jail is wrong,” she stated. “I cleared up a lot at the clarity lunch. It’s the commitment to listening and asking the same question over and over again that was the problem.”

Also on the live broadcast, after confirming Meredith Marks, 53, had her back on Tuesday’s episode and noting that they “are good,” Lisa was asked about labeling Bronwyn “Con-wyn” before a troll account did the same.

“I think I called her Fraudwyn,” Lisa clarified. “In our heated exchange. I said to her, she was calling me out and saying I’m not trustworthy, and I’m like, ‘You’re not trustworthy. You lied about going to Berkley, you lied about working for Goldman Sachs. You lied about the necklace. You lie about everything.’”

Later, on the WWHL: After Show, Lisa reacted to Todd saying he wouldn’t piss on her if her brain was on fire.

“That’s so gross,” she stated. “I wouldn’t want him to piss on me. I wouldn’t need him to. I could figure out how to … I would stop, drop, and roll.”

Then, after teasing the next episode, saying, “You’ll hear what I know Todd is really good at,” Lisa was met with host Andy Cohen, 57, agreeing that the upcoming reveal was “so crazy.”

“It just comes out of nowhere. And I will say this about Bronwyn, she’s like … She has an ability, much like [Stacey Rusch] on [The Real Housewives of Potomac], to really let it roll. It’s kind of wild,” he acknowledged.
