  • Utah governor says more than 7K tips submitted in Charlie Kirk killing as manhunt continues

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said on Thursday that officials have received more than 7,000 digital tips and leads in connection with the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which he noted is the most since the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Kirk, the 31-year-old co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed on the campus of Utah Valley University on Wednesday afternoon. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition before he was later pronounced dead.

A massive manhunt is underway for the suspect, who has not been identified.

“We cannot do our job without the public’s help right now. The public has answered our call for action. So far, we’ve received more than 7,000 leads and tips,” Cox said at a news briefing, adding that he is hopeful that newly released photos and video will lead to additional tips.

The governor also said nearly 200 interviews have been conducted, as officials continue to search for the shooter.

State officials are moving to pursue the death penalty if the case goes to trial, Cox said.

The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person responsible for murdering Kirk.

The agency also released new video Thursday night showing the shooter climbing down from the roof of a building on the campus of Utah Valley University before fleeing the scene.

Video was also shared by a homeowner in the area after the person of interest was seen in their neighborhood after the shooting took place.

Shortly before the news conference, state officials also released new photos of the person of interest.

The person was seen walking down steps while carrying a black backpack and wearing a shirt with a print of what appeared to be an American flag and a Bald Eagle.

Officials said the person of interest appeared to be of college age and blended in with students on campus.

The FBI also said on Thursday that a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered. A “high-powered bolt action rifle” was located in a wooded area near where the shooting happened.

  • FBI offers reward for information leading to arrest of Charlie Kirk shooter

OREM, Utah (ABC4) — The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a reward for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the individual who shot and killed Charlie Kirk.

On September 10, 2025, Conservative political activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed while hosting a debate on Utah Valley University campus. The shooter fled on foot and has remained at large.

LIVE UPDATES: FBI releases new video of suspect, Gov Cox reiterates death penalty will be pursued

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released photo and video footage of the suspect and are asking the public for their help in identifying the suspect. As an incentive, anyone who provides information that identifies the suspect and leads to their arrest may be rewarded up to $100,000.

    Previous FBI Rewards

Notably, this isn’t the first time that the FBI has offered a reward for information. Previously, they offered an award of up to $50,000 in addition to New York Police Department’s $10,000, in connection with the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Five days after the shooting, a McDonald’s employee spotted an individual, later identified as Luigi Mangione, who matched the suspect’s description and reported it to the FBI. Mangione was arrested for allegedly murdering Thompson and is set to appear in court later this year.

The tipster has reportedly not received the reward money, though that may be due to particular wording on the FBI’s part. The reward was offered for information leading to the “arrest and conviction”, and nobody has been convicted for the shooting yet.

Rewards are also available for those who help catch one of the FBI’s ten most wanted fugitives. For information leading directly to the arrest of one, tipsters can now make up to $250,000.

The FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitive list. Courtesy: Federal Bureau of Investigation

For information leading to the arrest of one fugitive, Ruja Ignatova, the FBI is offering an award of up to $5 million.

“The FBI recognizes the crucial role that public assistance has played in tracking fugitives throughout the years,” Assistant Director Luis Quesada of the FBI’s Criminal Investigative Division said, regarding the reward for fugitives. “Raising the rewards for the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives will ideally garner additional public tips resulting in the capture of these dangerous criminals.”

    UVU Tipline

The reward offers certainly don’t replace official investigative work, but they can help provide leads for investigators to follow up on. Since its launch yesterday afternoon, the Charlie Kirk shooting tipline has reportedly received thousands of tips.

Individuals can submit tips by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI or by visiting their website here.

  • Dad of Burning Man homicide victim appeals to Trump and FBI to solve the case

Ten days after a Russian man was mysteriously killed among a crowd of tens of thousands at Burning Man, Russian media is reporting that the man’s father has asked President Trump to have the FBI investigate.

Vadim Kruglov, 37, had been living in Washington state and, according to friends’ Instagram accounts, was making his first pilgrimage to the desert festival. He was killed on Aug. 30 sometime between 8 and 9:30 p.m., his body found “in a pool of blood” around the time the giant wooden effigy of a man was lighted on fire.

The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office, which has jurisdiction over Black Rock Desert where the annual event takes place, is leading the homicide investigation but has made no public comments about what may have happened. The agency has issued public appeals for information about “any person who would commit such a heinous crime against another human being.”

The agency has also announced that Kruglov’s family has been formally notified of his death, and that “our sincerest condolences from the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office go out to Vadim Kruglov’s family for their tragic loss.”

Sheriff’s officials declined to comment on reports of the father’s appeal, or his criticisms of the pace of the investigation.

The Moscow Times reported Thursday that the pro-Kremlin tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda published a video from Kruglov’s father Thursday.

In it, Igor Kruglov bemoaned that “ten days have passed” and yet the investigation is “being conducted by one local sheriff.”

“Evil must be punished,” the father continues, “therefore, I appeal to you, dear Mr. President, and ask you to order the FBI to immediately begin investigating the murder of my son.”

Kruglov’s friends have been pushing a similar message to their tens of thousands of Instagram followers.

One post claimed that Kruglov died “from a professional knife strike to the neck — a single fatal blow. This happened in a place where more than 80,000 people from all over the world were gathered.” The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office declined to comment on the manner in which Kruglov was killed or say whether the friend’s post was accurate.

The Instagram post contained several photographs of Kruglov enjoying himself at the festival.

“A young and talented man, who made a big contribution to this world, has been killed,” the friend wrote. “And the person who did this is still walking free.” The post added: “We strongly believe a federal investigation is needed.”

  • MAGA Influencer Charlie Kirk Dies After Being Shot at Utah Event

Charlie Kirk, a 31-year-old right-wing influencer and founder of the conservative youth group Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck in Utah, according to a report from Deseret News and videos posted to social media.

President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that Kirk had died. Kirk’s spokesperson, Andrew Kolvet, confirmed his death to the New York Times. During a press conference Wednesday night the Governor of Utah, Spencer Cox, said a “person of interest” was in custody, but also said “we will find you” about the shooter, giving conflicting statements about whether they’ve actually apprehended the shooter.

Kirk was speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, when a single shot was fired around 12:10 p.m. local time. Video posted to X captured the shooting, which showed Kirk’s head jolting backward after what sounds like a gunshot.

Videos of the shooting spread widely

Videos taken from the scene of the shooting have been posted on X, though several have been deleted for violating the social media platform’s terms of service. Some of the most graphic videos, including one taken relatively close that shows a large amount of blood, are still up as of this writing.

Kirk established himself as a high-profile figure in the MAGA movement by debating college kids on political issues, which is what he was doing when he was shot. Kirk’s appearance in Utah was the first of what was scheduled to be a 15-city “American Comeback Tour.”

    Kirk’s last words

Another graphic video posted to X captured the conversation Kirk was having with someone on campus before being shot. Someone in the crowd asked the conservative influencer about trans people and mass shootings. Kirk has argued that mass shooters are disproportionately trans people.

“Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?” someone in the crowd asked.

“Too many,” Kirk replied to cheers from the crowd.

“The answer is five. Now five is a lot. Let me give you some credit. Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?” the person asked.

“Counting or not counting gang violence?” Kirk responded before being shot.

    The shooter is still large

Utah Valley University earlier reported that a shooter was in custody, and unverified video purporting to show the gunman went viral on X. But the man who was arrested in the viral video was not the shooter, according to the New York Times.

Police said during a press conference on Wednesday night that the man they arrested from the viral video remains in custody for obstruction of justice but he wasn’t the shooter.

A spokesperson for the university initially said the shooter was located at the Losee Center, a building about 200 yards away, according to the New York Times. But it’s unclear if that remains true.

Kash Patel tweeted at 6:21 p.m. ET that a “subject” was in custody but didn’t provide details. A reporter at the press conference with the governor of Utah asked about the tweet to see if Patel was referring to the man in the viral video and authorities clarified that Patel was referring to a new person.

But shortly before 8 p.m. ET Patel tweeted that the person they’d detained had been released.

    Trump sends his condolences

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie,” Trump wrote on Truth Social at 3:40 p.m. ET.

“He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump continued. The president has ordered all American flags to be flown at half-staff until Sept. 14, according to the New York Times.

Later Wednesday night, Trump posted a video to Truth Social about the killing.

“For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals.

This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now.”

When news of the shooting first broke, FBI Director Kash Patel wrote on X that agents traveled to the scene of the shooting.

“We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” Patel wrote. “Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected. Agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation.”

    Gun rights advocacy

Kirk has a long history of supporting gun rights, including in 2023 when he argued that anyone aspiring to zero gun deaths in America was arguing for a “utopian society” that could never be achieved.

“It’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment,” Kirk argued at the time.

    High-profile figures respond

Billionaire Elon Musk, the owner of X, responded to the videos circulating on social media, writing, “The shot looked real bad, but I sure hope Charlie makes it somehow. The Tesla CEO also wrote “the left is the party of murder.”

Fellow conservative commentators on X also responded with an outpouring of support for Kirk. “Everyone please stop what you are doing and pray for Charlie Kirk. Please,” Candace Owens wrote on the social media platform.

White supremacist Nick Fuentes, who once had someone show up to his own house with a gun, wrote on X that it “feels like a nightmare,” describing it as “one of the most horrific things” he’s ever seen.

“I feel absolutely gutted and devastated. Pray for Charlie Kirk’s soul, his young family and for our country. The violence and hatred has to stop. Our country needs Christ now more than ever,” Fuentes wrote.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat and proponent of stricter gun control laws, posted to X that Americans must reject political violence. “The attack on Charlie Kirk is disgusting, vile, and reprehensible. In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form,” Newsom wrote.

Vice President JD Vance showed his support for Kirk in multiple tweets before confirmation of his death, writing, “Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father.” Vance also shared a photo of the two men, along with President Donald Trump’s son Don Jr.

    Motive still unknown

Kirk’s last post on X before the shooting said that it was “100% necessary to politicize the senseless murder of Iryna Zarutska,” a 23-year-old woman who was recently killed on a light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Jason Chaffetz, a former Republican congressman from Utah, suggested without evidence on Fox News that the shooter might be trans. It’s become a common claim on the right that most mass shooters are trans, something that’s not true.

Fox News’ Jason Chaffetz: “I don’t think it was a coincidence that the shot rang out when you have a question about transgender mass shootings. Hopefully I am wrong. I will probably get criticized for jumping to conclusions… I don’t think that is a coincidence but we will see.”

  • FBI warns of QR code scam disguised in mystery packages

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

QR codes that were once seen as a convenient shortcut for checking menus or paying bills have increasingly been turned into weapons. Fake delivery texts, counterfeit payment links and malicious codes pasted over legitimate ones have all become part of the modern fraud playbook.

The latest warning from federal authorities shows just how far these tactics have gone. Criminals are now mailing out packages that people never ordered. Inside these boxes is a QR code that, when scanned, can lead to stolen personal details, drained bank accounts or malware running silently in the background of a phone.

QR CODE SCAMS RISE AS 73% OF AMERICANS SCAN WITHOUT CHECKING

What you need to know about the QR code scam

The scheme is a twist on what is known as a brushing scam. Traditionally, brushing scams involved online sellers sending products to strangers and then using the recipient’s details to post fake reviews. It was more of a nuisance than a serious crime.

An Amazon package with a QR code. (Lindsey Nicholson/UCG/Universal Images Group via Getty Images)

Now the practice has shifted from harmless free items to deliberate fraud. Instead of receiving a product, many victims find only a printed QR code. Once scanned, the code redirects them to fraudulent websites that ask for sensitive personal information, such as banking information, credit card numbers or login credentials. Some codes go a step further and install malicious software designed to track activity and steal data directly from the device.

“The FBI warns the public about a scam variation in which criminals send unsolicited packages containing a QR code that prompts the recipient to provide personal and financial information or unwittingly download malicious software that steals data from their phone,” the agency said in a public notice. “To encourage the victim to scan the QR code, the criminals often ship the packages without sender information to entice the victim to scan the QR code.”

WHATSAPP BANS 6.8M SCAM ACCOUNTS, LAUNCHES SAFETY TOOL

Why QR codes appeal to scammers

QR codes have become common in everyday life. They are used in restaurants, stores, airports, on polls and payment systems and most people scan them without a second thought. Unlike suspicious links that can be spotted, a QR code reveals nothing until it is scanned.

That makes it a perfect disguise for a scam. The setup is simple: a package arrives with no sender information and no explanation. The mystery sparks curiosity, and many people scan the code to figure out who sent it. That moment of curiosity is what the scammers rely on.

The consequences can be serious. Fake websites may harvest names, addresses and financial details. Malware may silently monitor accounts, log keystrokes or even target cryptocurrency wallets. Victims often do not notice until they see unauthorized charges or suspicious withdrawals. By then, their information may already be in the hands of criminals.

DON’T FALL FOR THIS BANK PHISHING SCAM TRICK

7 ways to stay safe from QR code scams

Scammers rely on curiosity and convenience to trick people into scanning malicious QR codes. A few simple habits can help you avoid becoming a target. Here are seven ways to stay safe from QR code scams.

    1) Be cautious with unsolicited QR codes and use strong antivirus software

Avoid scanning QR codes from mystery deliveries, random flyers or stickers on public signs. A QR code is just a disguised link, and until you know where it leads, it shouldn’t be trusted. To stay safe even if you accidentally scan a risky code, keep strong antivirus software on your phone. Mobile security apps can block fraudulent sites, warn you before downloads and protect against malicious QR code attacks.

Get my picks for the best 2025 antivirus protection winners for your Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices at Cyberguy.com.

    2) Stick to trusted sources

Only scan QR codes from businesses and organizations you already trust. Examples include your bank’s mobile app, an airline boarding pass or a known retailer’s checkout page. If you wouldn’t click a random link in a text message, don’t scan a random QR code either.

    3) Preview links before opening

Most phones let you press and hold a QR code link to preview where it goes. If the URL looks suspicious, with misspellings, random numbers or shortened links, don’t open it. Taking a second to check can save you from a phishing trap.

    A man holding a package

Scammers are sending fake packages with QR codes that trick recipients into scanning and giving criminals access to their personal data. (Kurt “CyberGuy” Knutsson)

    4) Limit your digital footprint

The less personal data available about you online, the harder it is for scammers to target you with convincing fraud attempts. Consider using data removal services that scrub your information from people-search sites and marketing databases. This reduces the chances that your address or phone number ends up in the wrong hands and is connected to a scam package.

While no service promises to remove all your data from the internet, having a removal service is great if you want to constantly monitor and automate the process of removing your information from hundreds of sites continuously over a longer period of time.

Check out my top picks for data removal services and get a free scan to find out if your personal information is already out on the web by visiting Cyberguy.com.

Get a free scan to find out if your personal information is already out on the web: Cyberguy.com.

    5) Enable two-factor authentication (2FA)

Even if your login details are stolen, 2FA makes it harder for criminals to access your accounts. By requiring a secondary code sent to your phone or generated through an authenticator app, 2FA helps prevent unauthorized logins to your banking, email and trading accounts.

    6) Keep your device updated

Software updates often contain fixes for security vulnerabilities that scammers try to exploit. Running the latest version of your phone’s operating system, as well as updating apps regularly, gives you stronger protection against malware that can be delivered through a malicious QR code.

    7) Report suspicious activity

If an unexpected package arrives at your door with a QR code inside, do not simply throw it away. Report it to local authorities and consider filing a complaint with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center. Reporting not only helps protect you, but it also gives law enforcement more information to track how these scams are spreading.

    Kurt’s key takeaway

This scam might not be everywhere yet, but it shows just how quickly criminals adapt to new technology. QR codes were meant to make life easier, and most of the time they do, but that same convenience can turn into a weakness when people let curiosity override caution. The lesson here is that a mystery package with a QR code is not some fun puzzle to figure out. It is a red flag. The safest move is to step back, resist the urge to scan and if something feels off, report it instead of interacting with it.

  • Former executives get prison for nearly $2M defrauding of Arrow Electronics

A former vice president at Colorado-based Arrow Electronics and the CEO of a contractor have been sentenced to federal prison for defrauding Arrow, a global provider of technology services and components, of nearly $2 million.

Michael Vergato, 52, who worked for Arrow, was sentenced to 46 months in prison. Mark Perlstein, 60, was sentenced to 25 months and fined $15,000.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado said Monday that Vergato was convicted on six counts of wire fraud after a six-day trial in May. Perlstein pleaded guilty to wire fraud in June.

The men were jointly ordered to make restitution of $1.94 million. Each will serve three years of supervised release after their prison terms.

Authorities said according to Perlstein’s plea agreement and evidence presented at Vergato’s trial, the two devised a scheme to bill Arrow Electronics, based in Centennial, for performance tuning services. Vergato oversaw performance tuning of Arrow’s Oracle EBS data bases, including work by Perlstein’s company.

Perlstein and Vergato billed the data management company for services purportedly done by a shell company created by Vergato. The company, Oracle Performance Tuning and Optimization, or OPTO, submitted 21 fraudulent contracts and invoices to Arrow for work that was never performed, according to authorities.

Perlstein approved the invoices and wired payments to OPTO.

Nearly $2 million in company funds were funneled to OPTO, authorities said. Perlstein and Vergato divided the proceeds and concealed their involvement by using personal email accounts, other corporate entities, and fake identities.

Vergato used his stepdaughter’s identity to conduct business on behalf of OPTO, according to authorities. Tax records confirmed OPTO paid no salaries and issued no contractor forms.

Vergato kept approximately $874,000 of the $1.94 million, spending it on luxury vehicles, credit card payments, retirement accounts, and rent. Perlstein personally received more than $1 million.

“Corporate fraud of this magnitude undermines confidence in our business community and harms employees, customers, and shareholders alike,” said U.S.Attorney Peter McNeilly. “These sentences send a clear message: executives who abuse their authority for personal gain will be held accountable.”

U.S. District Judge Nina Y. Wang presided over the sentencing. The FBI investigated the case. The prosecution was handled by assistant U.S attorneys Nicole Cassidy, Bradley Giles and Bob Brown.

  • List reveals which items FBI seized from John Bolton’s home during raid

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The FBI raid on John Bolton’s home last month led to the seizure of multiple computers, cell phones, USB drives and documents in folders labeled “Trump,” among other items, court documents revealed Thursday.

The list of over a dozen items seized from the Bethesda, Md., home of President Donald Trump’s former national security advisor was included in search warrant documents filed with the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.

Among the technology seized from Bolton’s home were two iPhones – a red one with two camera lenses and a black one in a black case – and three computers, including a silver Dell XPS laptop with cables, a Dell Precision Tower computer model 3620 and a Dell Inspiron 2330 computer. One Seagate hard drive and two Sandisk 64 gigabyte USB drives were also seized.

The list shows the FBI also took a white binder labeled, “Statements and Reflections to Allied Strikes…” and typed documents in folders labeled “Trump I-IV.”

Four boxes containing what federal officials called “printed daily activities” were also hauled from Bolton’s home.

The FBI raid on Aug. 22 is reportedly linked to a probe of mishandling classified documents.

During Trump’s first administration, a probe into classified documents was launched but later shut down by the Biden administration. The Justice Department argued that Bolton’s 2020 memoir, “The Room Where It Happened,” contained classified material and attempted to block it from being published.

Days after the raid on his home, Bolton unleashed a blistering critique of Trump’s Ukraine policy in an op-ed published in the Washington Examiner, claiming it is marked by “confusion, haste and disarray.”

THE HISTORY OF HOW TRUMP AND BOLTON’S RELATIONSHIP FELL TO TATTERS

Bolton said Trump’s attempt to fast-track a peace deal was “inevitably” doomed, arguing the Alaska summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Aug. 15 was arranged at a pace “almost surely unprecedented in modern history.”

When reporters asked Trump about the raid shortly after it unfolded, the president didn’t hold back his disdain for his former adviser.

“I’m not a fan of John Bolton. He’s a real lowlife,” Trump told reporters, adding that he did not know about the raid ahead of time, claiming he saw it on television. He went on to call Bolton “not a smart guy” and said “he could be very unpatriotic.”

  • Rosie O’Donnell apologizes after falsely claiming Minneapolis church shooter was Republican, MAGA supporter

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Rosie O’Donnell, the liberal actress and comic, apologized on social media Sunday after falsely claiming the Minneapolis Catholic church school shooter was a MAGA supporter, a Republican and a white supremacist.

Last Thursday, O’Donnell posted a video after learning about the attack that left two children dead and 18 others injured, 15 of them kids.

The comedian said the violence reminded her of the Columbine massacre in 1999, when she struggled to comprehend that American students were shooting each other in schools.

Regarding the Minneapolis shooting, O’Donnell pointed out it took place inside a Catholic school and added: “What do you know? It was a white guy, Republican, MAGA person. What do you know? White supremacists.”

By Sunday, O’Donnell walked back her comments, admitting she was wrong about the shooter’s identity.

“I knew a lot of you were very upset about the video I made before I went away for a few days,” she said in a new video, adding that she did not have time to read through the comments until Sunday. “You are right. I did not do my due diligence before I made that emotional statement, and I said things about the shooter that were incorrect.

“I assumed, like most shooters, they followed a standard MO and had standard, you know, feelings of… you know, NRA-loving kind of gun people,” O’Donnell continued. “Anyway, the truth is I messed up, and when you mess up, you fess up. I’m sorry. This is my apology video and I hope it’s enough.”

Her apology drew sharp criticism online. One user called it “the most unapologetic apology ever.” Another wrote, “She’s not sorry, she still means exactly what she said.” A third said she was “trying to save face, because she opened her mouth and was so wrong.”

In the comments, O’Donnell replied to one critic, writing, “I was wrong – and I apologize – what more do [you] want?”

Others said the misstep reflected a bigger problem. “It’s good that you apologized, but this is what is keeping this country so divided,” one person wrote. “So much mistruths being spread by both sides. People need to fact check every single political thing that they see because the majority of it is a lie.”

O’Donnell’s remarks came less than a week after the gunman opened fire during a Mass at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, where students from the attached school were gathered.

The gunfire shattered stained-glass and pew-side windows as students and parishioners ducked for cover.

FBI Director Kash Patel said Thursday the “barbaric” attack appeared to be an act of domestic terrorism “motivated by a hate-filled ideology.”

Patel said the shooter’s manifesto and writings on firearms expressed anti-Catholic and anti-religious themes, along with violent antisemitic messages. Among them were phrases such as “Israel must fall” and “Free Palestine,” alongside Holocaust-related slurs.

  • FBI Doubles Reward in Glass House Farms Raid Shooting Case

A $100,000 reward is being offered for information on the unknown man who allegedly pointed an apparent weapon during an ICE raid on a marijuana facility

    Credit: FBI

Last month’s immigration raids at the Glass House Farms cannabis facility were pure chaos. Agents swarmed the grow fields as workers scattered – including one who fell to his death from a rooftop while running from capture. A violent clash between protestors and federal agents at two Glass House Farms locations in Ventura County rapidly deteriorated into violence. In the middle of it all, someone – the FBI says – whipped out a weapon.

Now the FBI has doubled the reward offered for information on the unidentified purported gunman from $50,000 to $100,000. Initially, federal officials said shots were fired by the man, saying on social media: “brave agents faced gun fire as they executed on criminal search warrants at a marijuana facility.”

But now it seems to be unclear if any bullets were fired, with the FBI saying Friday that the protester “appeared to point a firearm and possibly fired a pistol at federal law enforcement officers on July 10, 2025, in Camarillo at approximately 2:26 pm. At the time of the alleged assault, the unknown male is believed to have been participating in a protest.”

When it was over, officials had arrested 200 migrants and said they had “rescued” ten minors who were working for Glass House Farms.

Ten juveniles were among the workers federal agents took into custody in two sweeps at Glass House Farms in Ventura County last month.

The worker who died while attempting to elude capture, Jaime Alanis, suffered a head injury in a fall that led to his death, family members said in a GoFundMe post. “My uncle Jaime was just a hard-working, innocent farmer. He has his wife and daughter waiting for him. He was chased by ICE agents, and we were told he fell 30ft,” the worker’s niece Yesenia Duran wrote on the page, which is seeking funds to send his body back to Mexico. “He was his family’s provider. They took one of our family members We need justice. We are still investigating what happened.”

  • FBI Director’s Girlfriend Sues Podcaster Over Claim She’s a Spy for Israel

Alexis Wilkins, the country singer and girlfriend of FBI director Kash Patel, filed a lawsuit this week against conservative podcaster Kyle Seraphin over his claims that Wilkins worked for Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad. Social media users have claimed Wilkins was acting as a so-called “honeypot” to get information from Patel and it’s become a popular meme on X in recent weeks, but Wilkins has now filed suit against Seraphin, a former FBI agent.

Wilkins first denied she was a spy working for Israel in a tweet on July 9 insisting that it was “disappointing to see people with no real contribution to political discourse spin ridiculous conspiracy theories out of thin air.”

Wilkins called the accusations “insanely ridiculous” and claimed they were “coming from accounts that are farming because their engagement dried up after Trump’s win.” She went on to say that facts about her life were “readily available” and she encouraged anyone who was interested to research them. “My happy relationship, my work, my Christian Faith, and my integrity speak for themselves,” Wilkins wrote.

But that didn’t put the story to rest. In fact, it seemed to fan the flames for conspiracy theorists, some of whom seemed to earnestly believe Wilkins worked for Israel, while others were likely just trolling by making jokes about how much younger she is than Patel. Wilkins is 26 and Patel is 45 years old.

According to the complaint, which was posted online by Court Listener, Seraphin accused Wilkins of working for Mossad on the Aug. 22 episode of his podcast, which is distributed on YouTube and Rumble. The suit quotes Seraphin:

[FBI Director Kash Patel] has had his own little ‘ honeypot’ issue that’s been going on of late, so we’re just going to acknowledge it real publicly. He’s got a girlfriend that is half his age, who is apparently is both a country music singer, a political commentator on Rumble, a friend of John Rich through Bongino, who also now owns a big chunk of Rumble, and she’s also a former Mossad agent in what is like the equivalent of their NSA. But I’m sure that’s totally because, like, she’s really looking for like a cross-eyed, you know, kind of thickish built, super cool bro who’s almost 50 years old who’s Indian in America. Like it has nothing to do with the fact that uh we’re really close to the Trump administration. Anyway, I’m sure that’s totally just like love. That’s what real love looks like.

Seraphin didn’t use Wilkins’ name, but the lawsuit notes that Seraphin clearly meant her by identifying her as a country music singer and Patel’s “girlfriend.” The suit also notes that the two have been in a relationship since January 2023 and says that Seraphin made a “bigoted suggestion” by saying that she would not engage in an interracial relationship with a “cross-eyed” Patel if not for some involvement with an international spy agency.

Seraphin previously worked as a counterterrorism law enforcement officer and is a former special agent of the FBI, which is noted in the lawsuit. And as if to get ahead of any claims that Seraphin was joking, the court filing points out that the intro to his lawsuit contains the line “this program has no time for comforting lies,” arguing that a “reasonable viewer” of his program would hear the claims about Mossad “as sincere and not exaggeration.”

The lawsuit also says Seraphin met Wilkins (who has also worked for PragerU) when she was with Patel at a conservative political event two years ago, long before Patel was director of the FBI. Wilkins addressed the lawsuit on his show Friday and said he didn’t remember meeting the two of them together, doesn’t know what they’re even talking about, and thinks it’s “actually not true.”

Seraphin said he’s never met Wilkins and contested several claims in the lawsuit during his new episode, including assertions about soliciting donations via YouTube. Seraphin has billed himself as an FBI “whistleblower” and has a history with Patel as a conservative ally, according to NBC News.

Seraphin suggests in the video that his use of the word “agent,” in calling Wilkins an Israeli agent, was more akin to how people would typically use the word “asset” or “source.” The suggestion being that he doesn’t believe Wilkins is necessarily an official agent in the James Bond sense, more of a source who provides Mossad with information. Seraphin uses an AI-generated explanation in Google to explain the distinction he’s making.

The lawsuit notes that Wilkins isn’t Jewish and isn’t Israeli, and accuses Wilkins of trying to profit by spreading the idea that she is a spy:

Ms. Wilkins is not even Jewish, much less Israeli, and has never set foot in Israel. She is not now and never has been an agent for any intelligence agency. The notion that her relationship with Dir. Patel is part of some plot against her country is vile and ridiculous, and Defendant knows this.

Defendant knowingly, or with reckless disregard for the truth, fabricated this accusation at the expense of Ms. Wilkins to obtain personal profit, generating outrage to drive up his viewership. Defendant’s malicious intent to smear Ms. Wilkins is further emphasized by his desire to spread this lie “real publicly.”

Wilkins also denied the claims while appearing on the Megyn Kelly show recently. Kelly asked if Wilkins would like to see additional Epstein files released, a reference to President Donald Trump’s failure to release files related to the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

“You know what, if people stop calling me a spy, absolutely,” Wilkins laughed before Kelly asked her if she was a spy. “Definitely not. That is a firm no,” Wilkins said.

Wilkins is seeking at least $5 million in damages, according to the suit. An attorney for Wilkins didn’t immediately respond to an email on Friday. Seraphin also didn’t respond to a request for comment about the new lawsuit.

  • Bolton may be in hot water as FBI investigation expands beyond controversial book

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The FBI’s raid on John Bolton’s home and office is tied to an investigation that reaches beyond his controversial book, a source told Fox News Digital, fueling speculation that the former Trump adviser could face criminal charges.

The scope of any potential charges against Bolton, who served under President Donald Trump before falling out of favor with him in 2019, is uncertain, but legal experts tend to agree that Bolton has some legal exposure.

Prominent D.C.-based attorney Mark Zaid, who specializes in national security, said that while there are many unknowns about the Department of Justice’s investigation into Bolton, his memoir, “The Room Where It Happened,” could be an area of vulnerability for him.

“With respect to Bolton’s book, he is potentially vulnerable if he maintains any copies of early drafts which were determined to contain ‘voluminous’ amounts of classified information when it was first submitted to the White House for review,” Zaid told Fox New Digital. “Those drafts were likely disseminated, per normal course of business, to his literary agent, publisher and lawyer.”

THE HISTORY OF HOW TRUMP AND BOLTON’S RELATIONSHIP FELL TO TATTERS

Zaid added that those transmissions could be unlawful under the Espionage Act, a serious set of charges used throughout history to punish spies and leakers of government secrets.

During the first Trump administration, Attorney General Bill Barr opened an investigation into Bolton and brought a civil lawsuit against him over the book days before it was set for release.

The DOJ alleged in the lawsuit that Bolton skipped over normal prepublication review processes and allowed his publisher to move forward with printing a book that contained several passages of classified national security information.

In court papers, Bolton said he did not initially believe his memoir contained classified information, but then he edited some information out of the book after consulting with the National Security Council. Bolton never received a final signoff from the National Security Council before moving forward with publishing. He argued in court papers that the Trump administration’s refusal to approve the memoir’s contents violated his First Amendment rights and that the National Security Council’s review process “had been abused in an effort to suppress” the book, which contained harsh criticisms of Trump.

Judge Royce Lamberth, a D.C.-based Regan appointee, denied the Trump DOJ’s request to block publication of Bolton’s book because, among several reasons, it had already been exposed to publishers. Still, Lamberth faulted Bolton.

“Defendant Bolton has gambled with the national security of the United States,” Lamberth wrote in an order at the time. “He has exposed his country to harm and himself to civil (and potentially criminal) liability.”

Lamberth found it was likely Bolton “jeopardized national security by disclosing classified information” in violation of various nondisclosure agreements he signed as part of his national security role.

The DOJ never brought charges against Bolton, and the investigation was closed under the Biden administration. The Biden DOJ dismissed the civil lawsuit against Bolton over his book in June 2021.

While Bolton’s book controversy has been at the forefront since the raids at his home and office, one well-placed source familiar with the investigation told Fox News Digital on Monday the investigation is far more expansive than the book.

The search warrants, which were authorized by a judge, were based on evidence collected overseas by the CIA, the New York Times reported.

Critics note Bolton is the latest target of the Trump DOJ, which despite pledging to end “weaponization” has pursued several of the president’s political rivals. The department has launched grand jury probes into New York Attorney General Letitia James and Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and is examining Obama-era national security officials who Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard says tried to undermine Trump’s 2016 victory. Trump has also urged an investigation of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, citing “criminal acts” tied to the George Washington Bridge lane-closure scandal.

Former U.S. Attorney John Fishwick of Virginia suggested the line between honest scrutiny of potential wrongdoing and political revenge has become blurred.

“Trump DOJ targeting enemies of Trump — Letitia James, Adam Schiff, Federal Reserve Governor [Lisa] Cook and now John Bolton. Trump appears to want them harmed for personal/political reasons but if they broke the law are the investigations justified?” Fishwick told Fox News Digital in a statement. “That question is putting an incredible stress test on our legal system.”

Zaid noted that Bolton could bring claims of a selective or vindictive prosecution if he were indicted but that those are difficult to prove.

Attorney Jason Kander, an army veteran and former secretary of state of Missouri, said on the podcast Talking Feds that even if the DOJ does not secure a conviction against Bolton, the legal process itself is punishment.

“It’s not just harassment. It’s potential financial ruin,” Kander said. “When they come after you like this it doesn’t matter if there isn’t a scintilla of evidence. It’s a minimum half a million bucks in legal fees in a situation like this.”

  • FBI warns seniors about billion-dollar scam draining retirement funds, expert says AI driving it

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A cybersecurity expert warns that a scam that has been used to drain entire life savings or retirement accounts has become “devastating” for seniors.

FBI Los Angeles on July 15 posted a reminder on X about the Phantom Hacker Scam, which has cost Americans over $1 billion since at least 2024, according to the agency. The FBI said the scam targets senior citizens and warns that victims could lose their “life savings.”

The scam operates in three phases: a “tech support impostor,” “financial institution impostor” and a “US government impostor.”

In the first phase, a tech support impostor will contact victims through text, phone call or email, then direct them to download a program allowing the scammer remote access to their computer. Then, the scammer asks victims to open their financial accounts to “determine whether there have been any unauthorized charges,” which the FBI says “is most lucrative for targeting.” Afterwards, the scammer will choose an account to target, then tell the victim they will get a call for further instructions from the “fraud department” of the bank hosting their account.

In the second phase, the financial institution impostor will then call the victim and inform them that their funds have been “accessed by a foreign hacker” and must be moved to a “safe” third party account. Victims are then instructed to send the money via wire transfer, cash or cryptocurrency, and are told to send “multiple transactions over a span of days or months.”

In the third phase of the scam, the victim could be contacted by someone posing as a U.S. government employee, who prompts the individual to move their funds to an “alias” account for protection.

Pete Nicoletti, chief information security officer at Check Point, told Fox News Digital the scam has become “devastating” for seniors, and said families need to have discussions with their loved ones to keep them protected. Nicoletti said scammers are now getting personal with some of their tactics, targeting people with specific interests they have.

Families should discuss ways for seniors to protect themselves from scams, said Pete Nicoletti, chief information security officer at Check Point. (iStock)

“The family should have dinner-time discussions about this,” Nicoletti said. “But, you know, seniors are posting things on Facebook like they’re a Corvette collector. The criminals are actually using artificial intelligence to look for those type of characteristics and profiles. And they’ll send you an email or a message saying, ‘hey, that Corvette that you ordered a month ago is now available. It’s, you know, for $500, you can get it…and we’ll deliver it to you right away. And of course, the senior goes, ‘well, I’m a Corvette collector. Maybe I was forgetful and I didn’t know that I ordered that Corvette, or, you know.”

Nicoletti said that victims rarely get their money back, even after reporting it stolen to authorities.

“It’s devastating,” he said. “If [victims report their funds stolen] the same day, there’s a chance. I think it’s in the single digit percentages. It’s, you know, 10, 15%. I’ve heard, I have heard of people getting their money back. If it delayed beyond that, it’s not good. It’s gone.”

  • FBI Raids John Bolton’s Home and Office in Classified Files Probe

John Bolton, who was Trump’s national security adviser for a little over a year in the President’s first term, is under investigation for illegally possessing and/or sending classified files

According to NBC News, F.B.I agents began to search Republican former Trump national security advisor John R. Bolton’s Maryland home on Friday at 7 a.m. The attorney and Trump critic is being investigated for illegally sharing or possessing physical classified files, which prompted the F.B.I. to search his home and Washington office. Donald Trump incited an investigation against Bolton after the genesis of his 2020 book, “The Room Where it Happened”. During his first term, President Trump tried to block the publishing of the manuscript, which was rejected by the courts. Now, Bolton is under investigation once again, not only for the materials that he collected for his book, but for his actions in the past four years.

Trump was the fourth president for whom Bolton was a national security advisor, and he was fired, according to Trump, or resigned, according to Bolton, based on disagreements regarding military action. One of Trump’s first actions in his second term was to remove security detail from Bolton, meaning that the Secret Service agents who kept a round-the-clock surveilled eye on Bolton’s home were removed. Now, federal law enforcement is back at the Bolton residence, but it may be retaliatory, rather than protective.

John Bolton recently criticized Trump’s Alaska summit with Putin in a Tuesday CNN “Situation Room” interview. He stated that he believes that Putin strategically crafted a deal proposition that appealed to Trump’s desire to win a Nobel Peace Prize by ending Russia’s war with Ukraine.

“That’s the way to Trump’s heart,” Bolton stated.

Current Republicans in the White House have added to the conversation on Bolton since the raid. As F.B.I. agents descended on the former national security advisor’s residence, Kash Patel posted a message on X that alluded to the F.B.I. raid on the home.

“NO ONE is above the law… @F.B.I. agents on mission”, Patel posted.

Patel was publicly clear about his mistrust of the former security advisor. In his 2023 book, “Government Gangsters”, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation named Bolton as one of the 60 federal government officials that are allegedly a part of the “deep state”, a group that is a secret conspiracy against Trump. During Patel’s confirmation hearing for his new position as Director of the F.B.I., Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar called this an “enemies list”, a phrase that has been repeated by other Democratic critics as well on Patel’s new position. Patel vehemently denies that the list of names in his book’s glossary is an enemies list.

Another Republican voice in office surrounding Bolton was J.D. Vance, in his Friday exclusive interview with NBC News. Vance stated that the former national security advisor was not targeted due to his criticism of Trump, and is instead being investigated under fair pretenses.

“We are investigating Amb. Bolton, but if they ultimately bring a case, it will be because they determine that he has broken the law,” Vance stated. “We’re going to be careful about that. We’re going to be deliberate about that, because we don’t think that we should throw people — even if they disagree with us politically, maybe especially if they disagree with us politically — you shouldn’t throw people willy-nilly in prison. You should let the law drive these determinations, and that’s what we’re doing.”

  • FBI Raids The Home Of John Bolton

The Maryland home of former UN Ambassador John Bolton has been raided by the FBI, according to multiple reports.

FBI Director Kash Patel posted a cryptic message early Friday morning, possibly pointing to the raid.

“NO ONE is above the law…@FBI agents on mission,” Patel wrote.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi reposted shortly after with her own message.

“America’s safety isn’t negotiable. Justice will be pursued. Always,” Bondi posted on X.

During the president’s first term, Bolton served as President Donald Trump’s national security advisor between 2018 and 2019. He also served as the U.S. ambassador to the UN during George W. Bush’s administration between 2005 and 2006.

There are unconfirmed reports that the raid is part of an investigation into the handling of classified documents.

Bolton fell out of favor with Trump, authoring a book, “The Room Where It Happened,” critical of the president’s first administration.

Bolton has not commented on the reported raid; however, he posted a message as the raid was ongoing, renewing his criticism of the president’s handling of Russia.

“Russia has not changed its goal: drag Ukraine into a new Russian Empire. Moscow has demanded that Ukraine cede territory it already holds and the remainder of Donetsk, which it has been unable to conquer. Zelensky will never do so. Meanwhile, meetings will continue because Trump wants a Nobel Peace Prize, but I don’t see these talks making any progress,” Bolton posted on X.

  • FBI Raids Home of John Bolton, Trump Adviser Turned Foe

    Photo: Alex Wong/Getty Images

FBI agents raided the Bethesda, Maryland, home and D.C. office of John Bolton, Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, early on Friday morning as part of an investigation into whether he illegally handled classified information. Bolton, who became an outspoken Trump critic after leaving his first administration, has not been detained or charged with any crimes, according to an AP source.

Federal investigators have not given any official statement on why Bolton’s home and residence were searched. “The FBI is conducting court authorized activity in the area. There is no threat to public safety. We have no further comment,” a spokesperson for the bureau said, per the Washington Post.

However, shortly before the New York Post broke news of the raid, FBI director Kash Patel posted on X:

Attorney general Pam Bondi retweeted Patel’s post, adding, “America’s safety isn’t negotiable. Justice will be pursued. Always.” FBI deputy director Dan Bongino did the same, writing, “Public corruption will not be tolerated.”

Bolton has yet to comment on the raids. He was spotted in D.C. on Friday morning, according to the AP:

After the search at Bolton’s home started, he was spotted Friday morning standing in the lobby of the Washington building where he keeps an office and talking to two people with “FBI” visible on their vests. He left a few minutes later and appeared to have gone upstairs in the building. Agents were seen taking bags into the office building through a back entrance.

While the searches were being conducted, Bolton posted a message about Trump’s handling of Russia’s war in Ukraine on X. This is typical of Bolton’s criticism of Trump’s foreign policy and may have been a scheduled post:

Bolton was George W. Bush’s ambassador to the United Nations during the Iraq War and Donald Trump’s national security adviser from March 2018 until he was fired via Twitter in September 2019. Nine months after exiting the first Trump administration Bolton published a best-selling book criticizing the president. The president repeatedly bashed Bolton during this time, tweeting at one point that he “should be in jail”:

Shortly after the release of Bolton’s book, the Trump Justice Department opened a criminal investigation into whether Bolton unlawfully disclosed classified information in the memoir. The investigation was closed without charges in 2021, during the Biden administration.

Trump claimed on Friday morning that he was unaware of the raid, and reiterated that he considers Bolton a “low life”:

  • MARTA police department holds press safety briefing, crime center tour

Photo by Isaiah Singleton/The Atlanta Voice

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Police Department (MPD) held a press conference to discuss safety and security on the transit system and provide behind the scenes tours of its Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at the Chamblee MARTA station.

During the press conference, MARTA Police Department Chief of Police Scott Kreher aimed to dispel misconceptions about MARTA’s safety, emphasizing its status as one of the safest transit systems in the U.S.

“Hundreds of MARTA police officers patrol rail stations, trains, buses, and parking lots 24-hours a day, cracking down on nuisance behavior, acting swiftly during emergencies, and responding immediately when someone breaks the law on or near the transit system,” Kreher said. “The MARTA Police Department stands ready to protect our customers, the system, and the communities we serve every day.”

Photo by Isaiah Singleton/The Atlanta Voice

Year-to-date crime has decreased significantly: aggravated assaults by 24%, robberies by 18%, and overall crime by 8%, according to Kreher. MARTA employs over 300 officers and utilizes various security measures, including partnerships with the FBI, US Marshals, and TSA, according to Kreher.

He also said the system has suspended over 3,500 people for minor rule violations and issued 224 permanent bans.

“We wanted to dispel any comments made out in the public recently about MARTA not being safe or having a public safety plan, specifically around large events, and that is definitely farthest from the truth,” he said. “We work every day to prepare for events and remain solely committed to the safety of the system.”

Photo by Isaiah Singleton/The Atlanta Voice

Also, with three decades of law enforcement background, Kreher said he’s seen safety used as a political talking point to perpetuate unsafety over the fact MARTA is safe. He says MARTA is one of the safest transit systems in the country and doesn’t work in a vacuum.

“We service four counties within the many cities and communities, and crime and public safety in those areas has a direct impact on the water system, saying that year to date, we’ve seen dramatic decreases in crime, especially violent crime,” he said.

He also says if people truly don’t feel safe, MARTA police “have more work to do” and “the reality of crime and perception of crime is always a battle”.

“We’re working very hard to ensure people’s safety, especially during larger events and crowds,” he said.

Additionally, he says they rely heavily on their technology and system of wide network cameras and portable solar cameras. These methods allow the MARTA police department to have an eye on the system monitored by real time crime center officers.

The focus also remains on enhancing public perception and safety, especially for major events like the World Cup.

“We partner with TSA, our neighboring jurisdiction and we do what’s called Tabletop exercises where we go through various scenarios,” he said. “We will continue to have that partnership into the upcoming Labor Day weekend, the World Cup, and more.”

Furthermore, Kreher says he wants the public to understand and know the perception of crime sometimes misconstrued with people who are unhoused, have mental health challenges, or substance abuse.

“While we don’t condone bad behavior, we want the public to understand being unhoused isn’t a crime, however it is an inconvenience to the riders,” he said. “We’re constantly working with our team of licensed clinicians to help these individuals to get resources.”

Upcoming improvements in September include new fare gates and payment systems to combat fare evasion.

  • FBI’s Kash Patel vows agency won’t stop combatting DC crime until ‘every community is safe’ after 550 arrests

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

EXCLUSIVE: FBI Director Kash Patel said that his agency will continue pouring resources into combating crime in Washington, D.C. until “every community is safe.”

Patel said in a Wednesday post on X that 550 people have been arrested in Washington, D.C. since President Donald Trump moved to federalize the Metropolitan Police Department. Of those arrests, 66 were on Tuesday.

Patel said the FBI was involved in 41 of the arrests on Tuesday night, with eight drug seizures and six illegal firearms recovered.

“The men and women of the FBI, working side by side with our local law enforcement partners, have taken hundreds of dangerous criminals off the streets of Washington, D.C. This is proof of what happens when good cops are empowered to do their jobs the right way. Under President Trump’s leadership, we’re bringing historic resources to this fight because crime in our nation’s capital is unacceptable – and we will continue until every community is safe,” Patel said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

A White House spokesperson told Fox News Digital that Tuesday night’s efforts by law enforcement yielded 91 arrests, including 25 illegal immigrants. The illegal immigrants arrested on Tuesday night had criminal backgrounds, including burglary, threat to injure or kidnap a person, destruction of property and more.

An MS-13 member previously convicted of drug possession and driving while intoxicated was arrested in Washington, D.C. on Monday night, Attorney General Pam Bondi posted on X.

“At the direction of [President Donald Trump], our nation’s capital is a SAFER place—and we are just getting started. 52 arrests were made last night, including an MS-13 gang member, and 9 firearms were taken off the streets,” Bondi wrote. “Since our mission began, there have been a total of 465 arrests, 68 guns seized, and charges for homicide, narcotics, and firearm offenses. Nearly half of these arrests occurred in the high-crime areas of DC. Residents and tourists alike appreciate this extraordinary effort by our DC and Federal law enforcement partners.”

The Department of Justice announced on Tuesday it’s investigating whether crime data was manipulated by police in Washington, D.C. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said: “D.C. gave Fake Crime numbers in order to create a false illusion of safety.”

The FBI on Wednesday announced the agency will publish reported crime data monthly, instead of less-frequent updates.

When addressing Trump’s federalization of the Metropolitan Police Department during a town hall on Aug. 12, Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said the president’s actions highlight the need for a Democratic House majority.

“This is a time where community needs to jump in. We all need to, to do what we can in our space, in our lane, to protect our city and to protect our autonomy, to protect our home rule, and get to the other side of this guy, and make sure we elect a Democratic House so that we have a backstop to this authoritarian push,” Bowser said.

  • FBI Gets New Deputy Director, Though Bongino Hasn’t Quit

    Photo: Greg Nash/AFP/Getty Images

We’ve come a long way from Donald Trump routinely notifying administration officials of their termination via tweet. But working in the second Trump White House still sounds pretty unnerving. The administration just announced that Missouri attorney general Andrew Bailey has been tapped to be deputy director of the FBI — which is pretty weird since Dan Bongino is already serving in that role.

Fox News Digital broke the news on Monday that Bailey will serve as co–deputy director alongside Bongino. The report included statements praising Bailey from both FBI director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi.

“I am thrilled to welcome Andrew Bailey as co–deputy director of the FBI,” Bondi said. “He has served as a distinguished state attorney general and is a decorated war veteran, bringing expertise and dedication to service. His leadership and commitment to the country will be a tremendous asset as we work together to advance President Trump’s mission.”

The report did not clarify how the two deputy directors will divide their duties, nor did it allude to the conflict between Patel, Bondi, and Bongino over the administration’s botched release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Or that day Bongino didn’t show up to work in June, amid multiple reports that he was planning to quit because he was furious about the Epstein situation. All of which seems like it may be relevant?

Or not, if you trust Bongino’s one-word, no-exclamation-point response to this news:

The New York Times reported that Bailey’s mysterious appointment has “bewildered many current and former F.B.I. agents, who said they had never heard of a co–deputy director.”

This strange move isn’t necessarily a dig at Bongino. It could be part of Trump’s maximum-chaos approach to governing. As the Times noted, “Mr. Trump has a tendency to appoint one person to multiple high-level positions, as well as task multiple people with the same role.”

And back in May, Bongino told Fox News that the job was taking a toll on him. So maybe the FBI put another person in the exact same role to help Bongino with his work-life balance?

Hey, it’s possible! Though considering that Trump officials once let it be known that a colleague was on the toilet when he learned he was getting canned, humiliating Bongino does seem like the likeliest explanation.

EXCLUSIVE: Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel are bringing on Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey as an additional deputy director of the bureau, Fox News Digital has learned.

Bailey will serve as a co-deputy director, alongside Deputy Director Dan Bongino, Fox News Digital has learned.

“I am thrilled to welcome Andrew Bailey as Co-Deputy Director of the FBI,” Bondi told Fox News Digital. “He has served as a distinguished state attorney general and is a decorated war veteran, bringing expertise and dedication to service. His leadership and commitment to country will be a tremendous asset as we work together to advance President Trump’s mission.”

FBI DIRECTOR KASH PATEL BACKS TRUMP’S DC POLICE TAKEOVER: ‘WHEN YOU LET GOOD COPS BE COPS, THEY DELIVER’

“The FBI, as the leading investigative body of the federal government under the Department of Justice, will always bring the greatest talent this country has to offer in order to accomplish the goals set forth when an overwhelming majority of American people elected President Donald J. Trump again,” Patel told Fox News Digital, adding that Bailey will be an “integral part of this important mission” and said he looks forward to “the continued fight to save America together.”

Bailey, as Missouri’s attorney general, launched an anti-human trafficking task force and addressed more than 1,100 reported incidents in Missouri. He also cleared the backlog of Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence (SAFE) kits to improve prosecution of sexual assault cases.

Bailey’s office also defended the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department in civil litigation and has consistently advocated for law enforcement. Bailey was endorsed by the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police.

Bailey’s office also reported a 133% increase in trial court-level criminal prosecutions.

Bailey also has held public officials accountable during his time as attorney general. He demanded the resignation of a sheriff for financial mismanagement and misconduct, and, separately, announced a grand jury indictment against a St. Louis county executive for stealing and election law violations.

“I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Co-Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” Bailey told Fox News Digital. “I extend my deepest gratitude to President Trump, U.S. Attorney General Bondi and Director Patel for the privilege to join in their stated mission to Make America Safe Again.”

TRUMP’S PLAN TO DEPLOY NATIONAL GUARD IN DC SPARKS BACKLASH FROM RESIDENTS—BUT SOME WELCOME IT

A senior administration official told Fox News Digital that President Donald Trump “wants to see bad guys prosecuted, illegals deported, and corrupt politicians held accountable.”

“We need all hands on deck to accomplish all of these important goals,” the official said. “Andrew Bailey will serve as another set of credible, experienced hands to help Attorney General Bondi and FBI Director Patel carry out the President’s mission.”

The FBI, under Patel’s leadership, already has seen 19,000 arrests nationwide — that’s double the arrests made in all of 2024.

Of those, 1,600 individuals have been arrested for violent crimes against children — including 270 arrests for human traffickers, according to the FBI. One thousand have been arrested from investigations of foreign terrorist organizations, and three of the “Top 10 Most Wanted” have been arrested in 2025.

Patel’s FBI has rescued 4,000 child victims — a 33% increase from 2025; seized 1,500 kilos of fentanyl; and seized 6,300 kilos of methamphetamines.

“President Trump wants to see America quickly become the safest country in the world, and he has put together the best law and order focused team in the business to accomplish that goal,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital.

The addition of Bailey comes amid the expanding nature of Trump’s law and order agenda. As for the federal takeover of Washington, D.C., Bondi is in charge, and the FBI is playing a large role.

Bondi, on Friday, announced there have been nearly 200 arrests “and counting” in the nation’s capital, including those of murder suspects and illegal gun offenders, since the Trump administration federalized the city to tackle crime.

Among those arrested were two homicide suspects, 17 suspected drug traffickers, 39 suspected illegal gun offenders and two sexual predators, according to Bondi.
