I Hit Refresh on My Closet This Year—5 Cute Outfits I Swear By

    [ad_1]

Welcome to Before I Head Out, a monthly series in which fashion editor Anneliese Dominguez rounds up the snaps she’s taken of her favorite outfits before heading out the door of her Los Angeles apartment.

Despite having a closet full of clothes, I was getting tired of my outfit options at the end of 2023. If I had to pull out my old, pilly black sweater one more time, I swear—well, you get it. I was done. So before I rang in 2024, I made it my mission to spruce up my closet in preparation for the next year. I didn’t have the budget to buy a whole new wardrobe (which I wouldn’t want to do, anyway), so I scoured the internet for new pieces that felt fresh and that I’d want to wear over and over again—no more one-and-done tops! I ordered pieces from my favorite budget-friendly sites including Mango and H&M, but I also splurged on a few high-quality items. The result? A 10/10 lineup of easy outfits created with pieces old and new. If you need a little wardrobe refresh this year, I got you. Keep scrolling for five cute outfit ideas for 2024.

Do you ever start shopping and realize that you don’t just want one or two items but suddenly crave an entire wardrobe overhaul? Same. On a recent perusing of the new arrivals section on of my favorite sites, I came across so many strong pieces that I started envisioning a whole new wardrobe with these chic updates. No, the new closet updates I’m about to showcase here each have something special about them that sets them apart from the basics you could find anywhere else. • If I’m Recommending One Simple Outfit, It’s This Jeans, Sweater, and Shoe Combo

If I’m Recommending One Simple Outfit, It’s This Jeans, Sweater, and Shoe Combo

    [ad_1]

There are a few easy outfit formulas I personally wear and also like to recommend to others when they’re looking for ideas. A blazer combined with jeans and a simple top is one of the said ensembles. The other front-runner that I’m basically living in right now is a pair of relaxed jeans, a grey sweater in a roomier cut, and flat shoes. While inherently simple, there’s something so chic and effortless about this specific pairing.

On that note, I pulled together a curation of various fashion people in this ensemble to showcase the appeal of the outfit formula further. Keep scrolling for more on the no-fuss look, complete with a shopping edit of standout jeans, sweaters, and flats (sneakers, boots, loafers, and ballet flats) if you want to add one or all of the items to your 2024 offering.

10 Nordstrom Items I Bought to Wear During NYFW Next Month

    [ad_1]

New York Fashion Week might be a short, six-day blip in the grand scheme of things, but it takes a lot longer than that to actually pull it off. For editors, influencers, publicists, and especially designers, there are months of planning and countless late nights involved. And while there are plenty of more pressing aspects of the preparation, picking out what to wear is no small feat for those attending shows, and it’s something I, myself, take very seriously.

As always, much of my pre–fashion week shopping happens at Nordstrom (shocker), whether I’m investing in outfit-making designer items or layering essentials that’ll keep me warm when I’m embarking on the avenues-long wind tunnel that is the walk between the 23rd Street C station and the Starrett-Lehigh Building, aka NYFW’s new official home base. Below, find the 10 items I either already bought or have on my to-do list to buy from Nordstrom for next month’s festivities.

Welcome to après-ski season. Chances are that, like me, you can’t open your phone anymore without seeing somebody on a ski trip. For the past few months, my Instagram feed has been a parade of posts tagged in places like Jackson Hole and Courchevel, each one featuring more stylish and luxe skiing outfits than the last. Think the highly documented celebrity vacations like Kendall Jenner’s snow-filled trip to Aspen and Jasmine Tookes’ stylish jaunt to Niseko, Japan. And while plenty of fashion people are actually hitting the slopes for a ski or snowboarding session, even more of them are just there for the vibes, as they say. In other words, for many, it’s all about pulling off an epic après-ski look, lift ticket or no lift ticket.

As for what exactly constitutes a chic après-ski outfit in 2024? Well, we’re about to get into what to wear when you’ve just completed your last run of the day and are heading to the base of the mountain for a well-deserved après cocktail or two. • Nope, Fashion People Won’t Ever Ditch This Classic Handbag

Nope, Fashion People Won’t Ever Ditch This Classic Handbag

    [ad_1]

As overused as the quote from the late Yves Saint Laurent might be, it still rings true: “Fashions fade, style is eternal.” Especially within the context of modern fashion, which moves much faster than the pace of the industry in the ’60s during Laurent’s heyday. Like it or not, we live in an age when an It-item can be anointed overnight, only to lose its luster by lunchtime. Therefore, it can be hard to discern what’s worth your time and money. That’s where we come in, friends!

Although conventional wisdom would tell you that investing in those foundational basics is far more critical, there’s something else we feel is worth buying, too: bags. Before you discount our rationale, hear us out on this. Unlike apparel, luxury accessories are one of the few items that acquire value over time. But with so many different types of bags out there, how exactly does one pick a style that will stand the test of time? Return to brands with the “classic” feel built into their brand legacies, such as Saint Laurent, Chanel, and Burberry.

Although each of these luxury labels may have its own rich history, one particular bag style is universal among them: quilted handbags. Characterized by its attentiveness to craftsmanship, this style is typically made from leather, nylon, or cotton with an overlay quilted detail that gives the bag a raised texture. Because quilted bags have been reinvented in various textiles, sizes, and shapes over the years by luxury and affordable labels, it’s become a mainstay in the closets of chic people everywhere.

It’s one of the best investments you can make. Ahead, we’re proving that point as we’ve rounded up the 31 best quilted handbags at every price point based on quality, versatility, price, popularity, and shoppers’ reviews (when possible). Trust us when we say one of these bags will surely become an eternal part of your wardrobe.

I’m a Fashion Editor Living in L.A.—This Weekend Getaway Is My Best-Kept Secret

    [ad_1]

Los Olivos lies in the Santa Ynez Valley in California, just outside of Santa Barbara. The town is known for having some of the best food and wine in the state, which I can strongly vouch for. The trip only takes about three hours from Los Angeles, and the drive is breathtaking, as you can see in the above photo through the window of our Audi Q8 e-Tron. For those of you who speak electric car, I was able to get from L.A. to Los Olivos in just one charge—it’s that easy.

I most recently visited right before Christmas during a rainy weekend in December. The gloomy weather created such a cozy atmosphere that made the town feel like something out of a movie. Everything was decorated for the holiday season, and the people were extremely friendly. Due to the small nature of the town, you will never feel stressed that you aren’t seeing enough, because there isn’t that much to see… in a good way. There, you can relax and detach, which is exactly why I love going. Below, I have mapped out my favorite place to stay, where I like to eat, and a few more activities that should fill up one perfect weekend getaway in this adorable destination.

These 7 2024 Trends Are the Best for Travel

    [ad_1]

Take it from me, a remote worker who doesn’t live in a “fashion” city: The outfits I wear for travel are the most important outfits that I wear. I choose my travel outfits carefully and usually shop for new pieces while I’m making my packing list. I’ve already started thinking about the trips I have planned in 2024 so far, and it’s probably going to dictate what trends I buy for the next season to some extent.

As you know, not all trends are appropriate for travel. I tend to gravitate toward ones that are versatile and comfortable and don’t take up a ton of luggage space. I took a close look at the spring/summer 2024 and my Instagram feed and selected seven that are perfect for travel and that I’ll definitely be shopping for soon. Keep scrolling to find out what makes them superior and shop them for your own 2024 travel wardrobe.

We Already Know 5 Major Leggings Trends That Will Be Huge in 2024

    [ad_1]

Are they leggings? Are they pants? The lines continue to get blurred. We’re seeing this play out in terms of how leggings are styled, as well as the designs themselves. On the F/W 23 runway, Miu Miu endorsed wearing leggings in place of pants, styling them with crewneck sweaters, hoodies, and tailored outerwear. The looks have permeated the fashion space and continue to shape how we see the style set wear leggings for everyday looks far beyond the gym.

As I mentioned, leggings are also crossing into the pant sphere more and more. High Sport’s kick flare pants are one of the most viral pieces amongst fashion insiders in recent memory and have created huge demand for the soft legging-pants. Brands include Ferragamo and Theory showed leggings with tailored finishes in their S/S 24 runway collections. Capri-length leggings, too, are dominating and we’re seeing them worn in dressy ways, styled with leather tops in Phillip Lim’s S/S 24 collection and with heels on the street style scene. Ahead, more on the 5 leggings trends set to dominate in 2024.

Trends may come and go, but denim is forever. As style people, we wear our classic blue jeans multiple times a week and tend to lean on them whenever we can’t think of something else to wear. Of course, they never really go out of style, but it doesn’t take an expert eye to see they’ve taken a back seat to other items like tailored trousers and maxi skirts in recent months.

All that is to say I wouldn’t be surprised if you found yourself in a rut when deciding what to wear with jeans to make them feel up-to-date. Naturally, I have a few ideas to make them feel fresh and, dare I say it, even on-trend for 2024. It all comes down to styling them with a few key items.
