  • These Are the Best Plus-Size Stores, Hands Down

These Are the Best Plus-Size Stores, Hands Down

Body inclusivity is no longer an extra asset that brands throw on their marketing techniques. It’s a default—a prerequisite for fashion brands to expand their sizes to ensure that all people have the opportunity to feel stylish, beautiful, and at their best. A clothing store without plus-size options is reminiscent of a makeup brand without foundation that caters to different skin tones. And even though fashion continues to exhibit signs of progression, there is obviously still so much more work to do. However, there is more than meets the eye when it comes to shopping for plus sizes. Most people are unaware of the unseen labor that goes into it. Contrary to their straight-size counterparts, those above a 14 don’t necessarily have the option of just popping into a Zara to find a last-minute outfit. There is a ton more research, online browsing, added-on shipping prices, and annoying returns that go into shopping for plus-size options. And if you’re looking for trendy, fashion-forward brands, the task is even harder.  On top of everything, brands will oftentimes slap the “plus-size” label on a few pieces that seem to be the crumbs of what’s usually offered. But beyond these obstacles are clothing stores that are catering to these needs—with flying colors! To ease this particular shopping woe, we’ve created a list of the best plus-size stores that offer high-quality and chic products. Prepare to be pleasantly surprised.

Whether you’re looking for a staple piece or a statement piece, Dia & Co. has you covered. Not only does the brand offer quality pieces at a fair price point, but it also offers the Dia Box, which is your own personal set of clothing picked out by an in-house stylist.

ASOS continues to prove that it stands for fashion for all. The brand caters to plus-size fits seamlessly and offers a wide range of fashion-forward garments.

Whether you want to look sophisticated or add a touch of glamour into your look, Eloquii has you covered.

Finding plus-size athleticwear feels like a rarity, but thankfully, Fabletics has it covered. Its sleek designs make sure it’s known that athleticism isn’t defined by size.

So long to the days when plus-size clothing would seemingly cost more. Torrid offers affordable clothing without sacrificing great design.

I’m not sure if there’s much more needed to say about luxury boutique shopping that specializes in plus sizes. How can one even resist a bit of luxury?

If you’re looking to invest in some quality, high-end brands, Nordstrom’s plus-size division is the place to go. From Vince to Michael Kors, you’ll surely find a hit.

No other plus-size store is leading the way in size inclusivity like Universal Standard. With sizes ranging from 00 to 40, rest assured you’ll be able to find any wardrobe essential in your size here.

The best plus-size fashion brands understand that stylish pieces should be accessible to everyone—which is exactly what Good American is all about. Whether you’re searching for a trend-forward piece or something on this sultry side, it’s got you covered.

  • I Thought I Banished These 6 Jewelry Trends, But They’re Surging Again

I Thought I Banished These 6 Jewelry Trends, But They’re Surging Again

It’s always a surprise when previously forgotten-about items return to the spotlight, and this winter, six such jewelry pieces are having a sort of renaissance. Unlike clothes and shoes, my jewelry collection tends to stay pretty constant from season to season and year to year. Of course, it goes through its own phases, but on the whole, the turnover is much slower than anything I keep on a hanger or folded into a dresser drawer. For that reason, if I phase out a jewelry trend from my arsenal, I usually expect it to stay that way. Winter 2022 has other plans, though.

Across the runways, I spotted six major winter jewelry trends that are giving me a strong case of déjà vu. I definitely dabbled in each of these years ago and had since banished them from my jewelry box—or so I thought. Sure enough, all signs are pointing to their grand return to style. For instance, I’m typically a gold girl all the way, and any other metals pretty much dwindled from my view, but a new wave of sculptural silver pieces stands to change my staunch stance. For a complete look into this season’s trending accoutrements, see the six reemerging themes that just might surprise you (as they did for me).

  • The Only Bags Worth Investing in Right Now

The Only Bags Worth Investing in Right Now

When it comes to investing in a luxury handbag, it’s obviously important to find a style you really, truly love. Equally important (and often overlooked) is educating yourself on which handbags will hold their value and never go out of style. The exclusive Birkin, for example, is forecasted to double in value in the next 10 years. But that’s not the only bag worth scooping up. To give you a sense of the bags worth your money, we tapped the experts at LePrix (the trusted online destination for pre-owned luxury) to spill on the styles you need to try. “To get the most resale value for your investment bag, I only have one piece of advice: Invest in the holy trinity—Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Hermès. While the value of luxury handbags can fluctuate due to trends or buzz, these three iconic brands in certain styles have the most resale value at LePrix,” the company told us. Keep scrolling to check out more on the top bags you should buy.

“The resale value of Hermès depends on the style, type of leather, and hardware,” Le Prix shares. “The power behind the Hermès brand is due to their limited quantities. This creates an unparalleled level of scarcity and exclusivity other brands have yet to achieve. While there’s no such thing as an Hermès waiting list, there is a certain waiting period for your dream Birkin or Kelly—depending on your relationship with your Hermès salesperson, the amount spent at Hermès over some time, and pure luck.

“The Birkin specifically is the most sought-after handbag of all. On the arms of celebrities including Victoria Beckham, Alessandra Ambrosio, Kate Moss, and the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan, this bag has exponentially increased in popularity. The fervor for Birkins transcends both retail and resale. LePrix stylists are constantly searching for Birkins through our consignment boutique partners for our customers. Birkin bag retail prices range from $9000 to $150,000 and can see resale prices up to $223,000.

“Most Birkins retain or increase in value, again depending on leather, hardware, and demand. If you happen to score the exclusive, highly sought-after black Birkin with gold hardware or otherwise known amongst the fashion tribe as ‘the holy grail,’ this bag will pay you back in spades.”

“Inspired by Grace Kelly, the Hermès Kelly bag also retains or increases in resale value,” Le Prix tells us. “The Kelly bag is a classic and happens to be a favorite for Miranda Kerr, Emma Watson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rosamund Pike, Beyoncé, Karlie Kloss, and, again, the Kardashian-Jenners.”

“While the Birkin recently got buzz for beating the S&P 500, this is not the only handbag that has outperformed the S&P 500,” Le Prix shares. “Ten years ago, I purchased my first Chanel medium flap in caviar leather for $1600. This same exact bag now retails for $4900. That is a 206% return (not adjusted for inflation). Whereas, in the last decade, the S&P total nominal return was 49% (not adjusted for inflation). The resale value of this bag also retains or increases depending on leather and hardware. It’s also a constant favorite of Alexa Chung, Rita Ora, Demi Lovato, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Lauren Conrad.”

“Another bag to consider for investment is the Chanel Boy Bag,” says Le Prix. “While the Boy Bag is fairly new, introduced in 2011, it’s now a mainstay, joining the ranks of the classic flaps and reissue flaps. Five years ago, this bag started at $2500. Today the Chanel Boy Bag starts at $5100. It typically retains at least 90% of its resale value. You can find this bag on celebs like Jessica Biel, Leigh Lezark, Bella Thorne, and Taraji P. Henson.”

“The Neverfull continues to be one of our fastest-selling handbags on LePrix, and there’s a reason why,” Le Prix shares. “While certain fashion-industry reports dictate there’s a decline in the category of tote handbags for other brands, the Louis Vuitton Neverfull remains popular due to periodic price increases and high demand. The Neverfull is one of Louis Vuitton’s all-time most successful bags that come in endless options of materials as well as limited editions and special artist collaborations. It has been worn by A-listers like Sofía Vergara, Cara Delevingne, Diane Kruger, and Reese Witherspoon. It retains at least 85% of its resale value, unless it’s a rare limited-edition bag, which can see upward of double the resale value.”

Up next, buying an Hermès bag can be tricky—here’s what experts say you should know.

11 Everyday Items I Wish I’d Waited Until Black Friday to Buy

The beauty of Black Friday sales is that, on top of the amazing deals on gift-worthy items, you’ll find highly covetable fashion items for every season of the year from low-priced brands all the way up to designer labels. Since I’m somewhat of an avid shopper, I tend to buy those everyday items I need (aka basics) when I need them, but based on the number of stylish basics I’ve seen on sale this week, I really wish I’d waited and bought my jeans, tees, sweaters, and coats in bulk this week.

Some of the best brands for basics, such as Reformation, H&M, Madewell, and & Other Stories, are having great sales right now, so if you’re like me, your head is probably spinning. I can help with that if you keep scrolling. And if you’re not like me and haven’t already bought all the basics you need for the time being, you’ve come to the right place. After all, it’s not every day that sought-after pieces from Khaite, Balenciaga, Nensi Dojaka, BBY FAR, Commission, and more enter 50%-off territory. • Color Report: The 5 Shades Everyone Will Be Wearing This Winter

Color Report: The 5 Shades Everyone Will Be Wearing This Winter

Like many, fall fashion is something we get the most excited about. But since we are optimistic here (or at least try to be), we’re still holding out hope for our devotion to fashion to continue on into the winter months. It can be difficult to navigate the freezing temperatures and the sun sets earlier than we’d prefer, but we’re still focusing on the positives of all. That includes thicker knits, statement outerwear, and a whole lot of other trends that will keep you cozier than a cup of hot chocolate. And while we’ve already given you the rundown on the main pieces you’ll be seeing this season, we also did a little digging to find the colors popping up on social media and within the market. While many fall hues trickle on into winter, there are a few new shades that have popped up just in time for the holidays and the New Year.

Some days may be dreary, but you can supplement the lack of sunlight with some of the colors ahead. Since we’ve included saturated shades like cobalt and fuschia, we don’t think that will be a hard task. Keep scrolling for our seasonal color report and find where you can shop each right away.

  • I Said I Wouldn’t Buy Any New Coats This Year, But These Are Too Good to Pass Up

I Said I Wouldn’t Buy Any New Coats This Year, But These Are Too Good to Pass Up

For someone who lives in what anyone off the island of Manhattan would consider a shoe box, I own a lot of coats. From floor-length styles made of wool and leather to insulated puffers for running in the coldest of temperatures, my collection checks off every box. Yet when I saw brands start to drop their fall outerwear offerings a few weeks ago, I felt a familiar feeling creep up—the same one that led me toward buying the many coats I already do own.

Despite promising myself that this year would be different and that I wouldn’t once again invest in a coat, or coats, I don’t technically need, it seems the options this season are just too good to resist. At this rate, I’m going to need an entire storage unit dedicated to my growing outerwear collection. On the bright side, at least I won’t have to worry about frostbite once winter eventually arrives.

Ahead, shop the coats that broke me down with as little as one glance.

  • Every Fashion Person Owns One of These 29 Sneakers That Are Ideal for Winter

Every Fashion Person Owns One of These 29 Sneakers That Are Ideal for Winter

“A sneaker girl never gets cold.” Or at least that’s what I thought until I had to carefully waddle through the snow in a pair. Some people are lucky to live in more moderate climates than New York City so can show off our regular kicks, but for us East Coasters, a thick pair of socks is required along with special styles. For me, high-tops and shearling-lined sneakers are currently high on the list for their warmth and protection.

Regardless of the weather, there are some It-girl sneakers that are worth wearing no matter the weather. We can’t forget that with the ups and downs of winter there are bound to be easier days to walk around with our sneakers on. Every season, I’m interested in buying a new pair, so below find 29 options that I’m seriously considering (and you should too).

  • The “Boring” Handbag That You’ll Never Regret Buying

The “Boring” Handbag That You’ll Never Regret Buying

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been a bag lady. Family members can recount how I’d often carry my mini bag around as a toddler. It was an early indication of a lifelong passion for scouring resale sites, sales, and digital racks in search of the perfect purse. Of course, like all bag lovers, I’ll admit to maybe owning too many, but I won’t ever succumb to the belief that this accessory is trivial. For collectors, we know that a bag can make or break an outfit. So even if we all delight in following new trends or donning a rhinestone-adorned version, we know, at the end of the day, we must have at least one basic bag that can go with everything.

What that staple handbag looks like depends on our personal preferences, but it’s safe to say there is one color that’s agreed upon as a must-have: black. After all, this is the fashion color. It’s a must-have for every other accessory, so why wouldn’t it be for bags too? It’s a piece that can pull together any look and be worn anytime or anywhere. But to say that all black bags are created equal would be a lie. As a picky shopper, I know there can be bland black bags, and there can be stylish ones. You just have to do some digging.

In that vein, I’ve scoured the internet to find the 42 best black handbags at every price point. From special hardware and materials to shapes and sizes, the details of each bag prove that this staple is far from boring.

  • British Women Politely Laugh Every Time Americans Wear These 4 Items

British Women Politely Laugh Every Time Americans Wear These 4 Items

It may be entirely un-British to laugh about anyone else’s style choices (we Brits are far too polite for that), but I will say that as a Brit living in Los Angeles for over 12 years, I’ve picked up on certain American sartorial tendencies that I’ve found rather distinct and funny. I recall being taken aback on my first brunch date in Santa Monica where everyone looked like they had just stepped out of the gym (minus the sweat, of course). This is a far cry from the UK, where you’d never meet friends for lunch in yoga pants or sports gear if you aren’t actually planning to do sports. (Full disclosure: 12 years later, I now look like I go to the gym too.)

While we love expressing our adoration for classic French style here on Who What Wear, it’s the Brits who take more style risks, exude an edgier aesthetic, and are decidedly individual in their style choices. British Vogue’s shopping editor, Joy Montgomery, describes some of the key characteristics of British style: “Eccentricity would have to be at the top of the list. While we marvel at New Yorker’s professional polish or L.A.’s laid-back cool, we Brits possess a certain nerdy quirkiness that manifests in chunky, hand-knitted jumpers, heritage fabrics, and off-beat accessories—we championed ‘ugly’ trends way before they hit the mainstream. Our muses include Alexa Chung, Vivienne Westwood, and Cara Delevingne—all wonderfully weird in their own ways yet also undeniably cool.”

So what are the pieces that Americans wear that Brits think are a tad funny? Scroll below for my firsthand fashion observations.

  • Pants Are Out, and Underwear Is In—6 Risqué Runway Looks That Prove It

Pants Are Out, and Underwear Is In—6 Risqué Runway Looks That Prove It

In addition to simple, pared-down looks on the spring 2023 runways, the latest fashion season also offered up its fair share of more risqué ensembles, one of which involves ditching pants entirely and wearing underwearonly. Even more surprising, though, was how alluring the trend turned out to be. Rather than over-the-top or showy, designers like Matthieu Blazy at Bottega Veneta and Victoria Beckham showcased the pantsless look in the most high-brow of manners.

What leveled up the concept was the way in which it was styled on the runways, which I suggest you take note of for when you test out the trend IRL. At both of the aforementioned presentations, models ditched pants and wore just tights instead, paired with classic heels and either a simple knit (at Bottega Veneta) or a lace bra and tailored blazer (at Victoria Beckham).

In contrast, Miu Miu Creative Director Miuccia Prada used long, layered T-shirts and knee-high open-toe boots to create the illusion that going out sans trousers was no big deal. At Del Core, thigh-high stockings provided just enough coverage to make a bodysuit (and only a bodysuit) suitable for everyday, and at Coperni, a cropped blazer was made to turn high-rise black briefs into a put-together ensemble.

All that’s to say if you were planning on investing heavily in trousers come spring, don’t. Or at least, don’t buy so many that you can’t afford a few pairs of show-worthy panties and snag-proof tights. I promise they’ll come in handy because the pantsless trend, no matter how impractical, is here to stay.

Typically, a fashion trend has a short life span when it goes viral overnight. However, year after year, season after season, there has been one overnight trend in particular that has remained relevant: the bomber jacketThe outerwear became an off-duty-supermodel sensation around 2015.
