  • How to style a military jacket (and swerve any fancy dress accusations)

If you’ve been online in the past year, you might have noticed the rise of this military-style jacket. But it’s not soldiers or members of a marching band that are sporting them: they’re being worn by the most stylish women around.

What was originally worn by Hussar regiments in the Napoleonic wars has developed a close association with music over the decades. In the late ‘60s, musicians like The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix adopted the style. In the ’00s, bands like My Chemical Romance and The Libertines picked up the mantle. Cheryl Cole wore one, aptly, for her ‘Fight For This Love’ music video in 2009. But probably the most famous lover of this jacket in pop culture is Michael Jackson.

Perhaps this pop culture soup is what designer Christophe Decarnin had in mind when he designed his version of the jacket for the house of Balmain in the early 2010s. From there, the style conquered high fashion and was seen on the likes of Rihanna and Beyoncé. (The Balmain version even ended up back on Michael Jackson, creating a fashion full circle.)

So, here’s how to style a military jacket if you want to look more like Kate Moss at Glastonbury 2005, and less like a musician in uniform.

    With a denim mini skirt

Back in September, Jenna Ortega proved that this trend is for the hot girls while attending the Dior show. Sure, the aviator sunglasses are rather Michael Jackson-coded, but the denim mini skirt and pointy black pumps inject the outfit with some glam sexiness. Jenna sports the sleeveless version, but the look would be just as successful with long sleeves.

    With low-rise jeans

Actor Jodie Turner-Smith wore a version of the jacket by Georgian designer George Keburia. Attending the Victoria’s Secret show after-party, she paired it with low-rise baggy jeans, a tank top, and a chainmail bag. Since the jacket itself is such a statement, pairing it with low-key basics is a good idea. Wide-leg jeans (as opposed to skinny ones) keep the look firmly out of indie sleaze boy band territory. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, if you’re going for that style!

  • How to style cargo pants like a fashion editor

Knowing how to style cargo pants is every well-dressed eclectic girly’s secret weapon. Though the functional garments were once associated with army cadets, the last few trend cycles have shifted perceptions. Now cargo pants can look put together with virtually any item, or aesthetic, in your wardrobe – if you’re willing to take the risk.

You can still wear cargo pants classically – with a hoodie or bomber jacket, for example – but they’re also easy to style with more unexpected pieces. Scandi girls love to go experimental by wearing the loose-fitting bottoms with a striped button-front shirt and cowboy boots. Those with a more sports-adjacent style, on the other hand, often mix theirs with graphic knitwear and basketball jerseys. And though cargos are undeniably boyish in nature, they also pair well with spicy Club Classics like bra tops and bustiers. (Notice I said “pair well,” not “match” – because when styling cargo pants, intentional clashing is half the fun.)

It’s these delightful contrasts that make cargos such an exciting piece to style. Like jeans, they go with everything. And unlike jeans, they give every outfit a palpable air of coolness. So with that, I invite you to peruse the most stylish ways to style cargo pants for yourself with these outfit ideas for spring, summer, autumn, winter, and every transitional season in between.

If you’re looking for an editor-tested method that’s been proven to withstand the most brutal conditions (read “February’s New York Fashion Week”), cargos and tweed should be a top contender. I personally wore this look for NYFW’s fall-winter 2026 season, and it was one of my most complimented outfits of the week. Though I chose to dress up in a fuchsia lady jacket and leopard cargos, the opportunities for colour/print mixing are pretty much endless.

  • Beige trousers and black boots are the elegant combo to wear on repeat this autumn 2025

When it comes to trousers, white, black and grey usually come out on top. This is as true in a professional wardrobe as it is in the closet of stylish, minimalist women. But what about beige? Usually associated with the preppy intellectual or bookish librarian look, beige trousers are a quiet garment that doesn’t really draw attention to itself.

According the the autumn/winter 2025 runways, beige trousers will be one of the obsessions of the season. Beige trousers garment went from being considered too formal to being the favourite of the best-dressed. After all, it’s one of those pieces that projects a powerful, sophisticated and elegant natural look.

For this season, they might come in leather a la Miu Miu (shop more leather trousers here), tailored like Ralph Lauren, or even denim in the case of Egonlab. It’s hardly a surprise, considering recent viral aesthetics including grandad dressing, quiet luxury, dark academia and the modern executive look.

And they won’t be paired with pumps or loafers as we’re used to seeing them, but with footwear that makes a statement: boots. From normcore models like Chelsea boots, to more dramatic styles like mock crocodile, we’ve detailed all the ways you can wear this combo this season.

  • Olive green is the colour of the season – here are five stylish ways to wear it

If there is one colour that perfectly sums up the relaxed elegance of autumn/winter 2025, it is olive green. Sophisticated, versatile and trendy yet timeless, this shade has become the new neutral of the season. Forget the classic but predictable shades of black or beige, olive green strikes that perfect balance between being low-key and making a statement that makes it irresistible.

Long wool coats, knitwear, leather-effect garments: olive green looks great in any form. Moreover, its ability to adapt to different styles – utilitarian, minimalist or even sophisticated – makes it a safe bet for day-to-day, office or weekend looks.

So, if you were thinking of incorporating it into your closet, here are five very stylish ways to wear olive green, which confirm that this shade is the new must-have for autumn.

    Coats: the smartest investment

This season, the olive green coat has snuck in as the new wardrobe staple. Its neutral tone makes it the perfect garment to pair with other muted but stylish colours: burgundy, beige, off-white, black… This will achieve a sober but elegant result that transcends trends.

Leather (or leather-effect) garments: a modern touch

Olive green leather transforms any outfit into a high-impact look. Leather jackets are the obvious choice, and for good reason. But an olive leather skirt is a strong piece that will add personality. Combined with a shirt or cashmere sweater, these pieces strike a balance between modernity and sophistication.

The colour is rich but not loud, ensuring you look great without risking being overdressed. It’s also a shade of green, which technically makes it appropriate for a Christmas colour palette, just more chic. Combine them with long boots, ballerina flats and everything in between.

  • How to wear skirts in winter

How to wear skirts in winter, you ask? We’ve got you covered.

That transitional period between summer and autumn has disappeared, leaving us firmly on the road to winter. The window to wear those light jackets is closing (if not already closed, judging by the howling wind outside as I write this), and layering is becoming increasingly important. The desire to be out and about that comes with the sunshine has been replaced by a yearning for your duvet, fluffy dressing gown and a hot chocolate. But that doesn’t mean you can’t look good. You don’t have to hide your skirts away, just style them cleverly.

    Tights

Duh! I know this is an obvious one, but hear me out. Tights are extremely on-trend this year, making them more than just a practical layer. Lacy tights, black tights, coloured tights, patterned tights… You can have as much fun as you want – pair them with a mini skirt in a neutral colour and let them make the statement! Of course, for extra warmth, opaque and high-denier tights are the go-to.

    Trousers under skirts

While this might sound strange, it’s become a huge trend with the younger generations. Taking inspiration from the ’00s outfits of stars like Ashley Tisdale, the look was first memed, then copied (albeit with slightly more colour coordination and slightly less garish fabric choices). You can style this look yourself with skirts you already have in your wardrobe: pair them with straight-leg or bootcut jeans or smart black office trousers. However, if you want the guesswork taken out of it, there are plenty of pant styles online that come with a built-in skirt.

    Leggings under skirts

This one is less of a fashion statement and more of a hack. If you still want to wear your maxi skirts but don’t want the cold wind wafting around your legs, opt for leggings. This would be appropriate with long skirts that cover the leg and don’t allow the leggings to show; however, if you opt for an inoffensive black pair, it’s not the end of the world if they peek through occasionally.

    Thick, warm fabrics

Now, onto actual winter-friendly skirts. Long styles are an obvious choice, but miniskirts can also look super chic in the winter with the right tights and boots. Thick fabrics like wool, corduroy, velvet and suede will be a great addition to your winter wardrobe – providing both the much-needed insulation and that autumn/winter aesthetic.

    Winter-friendly colours

While the colour of your skirt won’t necessarily keep you toasty–although black does absorb the most heat, thanks GCSE Physics!–, it certainly will make you look the part. Opting for winter-friendly colours like burgundy, wine red, dark green, navy and, of course, black will make it look like you know what you’re doing. Trends come and go (this year’s favourite shade, for instance, is chocolate brown), but these winter-friendly shades will never go completely out of style.

Pair with a chunky knit or heavy-duty coat

To stay warm in the winter, you’ll need to invest in your upper layers, too. A winter skirt is nothing without a chunky knit on top, or a warm statement coat. You can opt for a jumper in the aforementioned winter-friendly shades, but I also think a white or cream chunky sweater looks very cool in the winter. Jacket styles are up to you: dramatic faux fur numbers, practical warm puffers, or, if you really want to be on-trend, coats with a cape! Layers are also key: a simple turtleneck in a neutral shade is perfect for popping on underneath these pieces, and will protect you from the elements (and that itchy jumper!)

  • Sarah Jessica Parker’s bucket bag is a key piece for autumn/winter 2025

The bucket bag is the accessory that will make your life easier this autumn. Just ask Sarah Jessica Parker.

Among the most sought-after handbag trends this autumn/winter 2025-2026 season, the bucket bag already has the endorsement of houses such as Loewe and prominent figures like SJP. Here’s the reasons why investing in this model is the most sensible option of the season.

    Gilbert Carrasquillo/Getty Images

Brands like Polène and Demellier have opted to create their own versions of the bucket bag, and insiders have made it their go-to bag this fall. The style pairs perfectly with mid-season looks, from light September outfits to heavier coats and capes in December. Appearing in materials like leather, suede, or thick canvas, it brings texture and warmth to autumn looks and also depth to a more summery mix, as proven by SJP.

The actor—whose role in Sex and the City cemented her status as a trendsetter par excellence—styled it all in true Carrie Bradshaw style for a night out in New York, as if it were straight out of a scene from the series’ reboot. Specifically, she opted for a black jumpsuit featuring black pleated pants and a strapless top with a giant white bow with silver studs. She added a fine-knit cardigan with even more shine to the ensemble, making it the perfect nighttime look.

Her bucket bag is pure functionality without sacrificing an ounce of style, maintaining its sleek design despite its large capacity. Her bag seems to make room for all the essentials (and more), from a wallet, a small planner and sunglasses to makeup must-haves.

  • The 11 winter capsule wardrobe essentials a fashion writer relies on every year

It’s entirely possible to look warm and stylish at the same time, which is where a reliable winter capsule wardrobe comes in. These closet staples — boots, heavy coats, tights, knit dresses, and more — are the beating heart of your cold-weather looks, and we’ve rounded up our tried-and-trues for you to shop for the season ahead.

    Your winter essentials broken down:

Like our autumn capsule wardrobe staples, our hardest-working winter pieces are those we’ve come to rely on for shielding us from the elements. These include hero items like fleece-lined leggings, second-skin bodysuits, cosy knit loungewear to throw your Arket Puffer Coat over, fleece and cashmere sweaters for wearing with wide-leg trousers, and chic black boots for work.

Of course, there’s something about winter’s shorter, gloomier days that makes most of us gravitate toward darker shades and muted colour palettes — we get it, they’re easy to wear and require little styling forethought. Luckily? That’s exactly what’s on trend for autumn/winter 2025.

Black is back and bigger than ever with full-liquorice looks on the runways of McQueen, Chanel, Junya Watanabe, and Yohji Yamamoto; deep, almost-black shades of brown featured on the Hermès catwalk; and burgundy remains a heavy hitter on the high street.

Building your winter capsule wardrobe is the ultimate secret to mastering personal style during the colder months. It not only maximises outfit potential, but the layering, mixing, and matching options are endless. But before succumbing to impulse buys (because winter clothes are expensive!), revisit what’s already in your closet and figure out what fall purchases you made that’ll definitely still work for the foreseeable future.

From there, you can decide what’s missing or past its prime. The winter season is a long one, but below you’ll find all our tested and endorsed layering pieces and other winter wardrobe essentials for making this time of year your warmest, most stylish one yet.

    The coat

The best winter coats are selling out fast! ALIGNE’s reversible Barnaby trench was already a great value (hello, two-in-one), but on top of that, it’s actually on sale. If you want to snag a high-quality-looking faux fur coat, be sure to check out options from Zara. Their £109 belted design is a fashion editor must (and looks endlessly more expensive than it actually is). For more of a splurge, consider Karen Millen’s brushed wool scarf-neck coat; if you’ve not already spotted, it’s a favourite among Roxy Horner, Grace Jackson and a few of our other fave influencers.

The time for warm leggings is now. Lululemon’s Align pants aren’t the thickest of the bunch, but they hold up just fine when paired with a long coat or puffer. If you’re after a pair of fleece-lined leggings, Marks & Spencer’s Heatgen Medium Fleece Thermal Leggings are a bestseller for good reason: lightweight yet so warm, stretchy and high-waisted. Tailored trousers are a non-negotiable in any winter capsule wardrobe, in my opinion. This season, we’re seeing the influence of ’90s minimalism come back strong with sleek, well-cut trousers dominating both runways and street style. Whether you’re aiming for casual vibes or more of a polished office look, tailored trousers will always deliver that balance of timeless style and versatility.

  • The most stylish brown skinny trousers to wear with trendy shoes in autumn 2025

Every fashion lover knows the elegance and functionality of brown trousers. This piece is a style staple for those seeking an autumnal, versatile, and, of course, elegant garment. However, before investing in a baggy design, you’d better set your sights on the skinny silhouettes, because if there’s one thing we’ve learned from the latest street style offerings, it’s that early 2010s fashion has made a comeback without asking for anyone’s permission.

This means that pants with a slim fit will be totally on-trend for autumn/winter 2025. Brands like Coperni, Acne Studios and Hermès have included them in their collections. Leather-effect pants, suede, check-patterned garments… They are presented with high waists that look good on everyone, a puddle hem to add some flair to the legs and different shades of brown to ensure an impactful look.

With the popularity of brown shades this year (see how to style brown jeans here), black trousers will be in the background. The best-dressed among us have paired brown skinny trousers with elegant shoes like pumps, square-toed shoes and even kitten heels. If they’re already part of your closet and have been tucked away for years, it’s time to show them off! Here’s some inspo.

For this season, it’s best to leave aside the classic matte black biker pants and go for brown designs that are more in line with the season’s dress codes. Leather has been present on the catwalks of Hermès, Burberry and Khaite, to name a few. The best way to wear these trousers is with square-toe heels that contrast with the look. Very Bottega Veneta. Add a boho blouse along with a faux fur coat, and you’ll look completely on-trend.

  • The best autumn skirts to have in your shopping bag right now

Look around you. It’s time to whip out your autumn skirts and replace the white linen with wine-red satin. Even for the most delusional among us, there’s no denying it anymore: autumn is here. Whether you’re mourning the end of summer or excited for all the cosy activities to come, you need to update your wardrobe for the colder months. Luckily for you, we’ve compiled the best autumn skirts, so you can take on the dropping temperatures armed with this season’s hottest trends.

Of course, skirts are pretty season-less – but certain skirt styles make more sense in colder climes than others. Longer hemlines are more suitable for autumn/winter, naturally. (Although, a trusty pair of thick tights goes a long way in making those miniskirts more autumn-friendly.) This year, midi and maxi skirts have been trending year-round, so you might already have some in your wardrobe. But autumn is really the time when these skirts shine, particularly in season-appropriate colours like burgundy, dark green, or – this year’s favourite – brown.

There are distinct features of an autumn skirt, such as textures like leather and corduroy, and patterns such as tartan. Sequins – while you might see them a lot at summer music festivals – are also particularly associated with winter as they’re the go-to for Christmas parties and New Year’s Eve. The best autumn skirts will incorporate such elements to make you look totally on-trend.

Of all the street style trends to dominate our FYP and social media feeds in recent years, bloomer shorts seem to be the most bizarre (and ironically one of our favorites) yet. And who do we have to thank for it? TikTok, of course. In a single scroll on the popular app, you might come across the piece multiple times, from those viral Miu Miu briefs to Aritzia’s more affordable offerings. Slightly more flirty and risqué than the stomach pudge dress or the fisherman aesthetic, bloomer shorts (aka diaper shorts) have officially made it to the top of the sartorial food chain.

    What Are Bloomer Shorts?

While the idea of bloomer shorts may seem new or daunting at first, they’re far from groundbreaking. Similarly to most trends, the good ol’ “everything is new again” concept applies here, as the fad dates back to 1850 when the silhouette was invented as a practical solution for women’s health and comfort — eventually grabbing the attention of famed suffragette Amelia Bloomer. It wasn’t long before she published her approval of them in her newspaper “The Lily,” advocating for women to have the freedom to wear what they want. They became controversial since they exposed women’s ankles, though they were cut midi-length, directly challenging the gender norms of that time.

Fast forward to present day, and bloomers are still a hot topic of conversation. Aritzia recently released a pair of gray micro shorts that dominated TikTok because of the gathered hem that resembles a diaper. Some users are completely obsessed, while others have expressed their disapproval with comments such as, “That’s grandma’s undergarments” and “It’s recession time.” Although the trouser is polarizing, it shows how much bloomer shorts have evolved. Hailey Bieber recently made the piece a part of her uniform, sporting butter yellow silk diaper shorts as part of a set during Paris Fashion Week.

Other celebrities like Dua Lipa, Lizzo, and Sydney Sweeney have also embraced the trend, from sporty versions to classic denim styles, showcasing the trend’s versatility.

Whether you’re looking to add something different to your wardrobe or you’re curious about the unique trend, keep scrolling to shop our bloomer shorts guide.

  • Are mocha loafers the perfect autumn shoe we’ve been looking for?

Mocha loafers are having a major moment. Why? Well, first, there’s the colour. What is it about coffee that makes it oh so appealing to the Instagrammer inside us all? Trendsetters, content creators, fashion icons and photographers alike all seem to be drawn to the creamy, deep, dark perfection of that chocolate-y coffee shade of brown. It’s no wonder Pantone chose ‘Mocha Mousse’ as the colour of the year for 2025.

Naturally, it didn’t take long for the colour to creep into trends on both runways and on the street. And the timing couldn’t be better. After all, nothing screams autumn quite like a delicious, deep chocolate coffee shade of brown. From bags to scarves to trousers to jumpers to jackets, mocha is popping up everywhere. But nowhere is it more appealing than on a classic shoe. A loafer, to be precise. And this season, the ‘mocha loafer’ is the perfect autumnal back-to-school staple.

Perfect for stomping around the city, sitting at the office, or even dressing up for an evening look, we’re calling it. This is the comfy, versatile, stylish shoe of the season.

    Moritz Scholz/Getty Images

In fact, we predict that it will easily take over from the classic black loafer that has dominated the loafer scene for years. They are just as versatile, but they add a little something. You can combine them with a contrasting sock – try red, sky blue, or pink – or opt for a more classy look, such as beige, another shade of brown, black, or grey. You can also wear them with just about anythingjeans, a suit jacket or an autumnal dress. So, yes, this year, it’s time to caffeinate your footwear game with a pair of mocha loafers.

  • New York Fashion Week was teeming with very strange bags

    Courtesy of Anna Sui

    Anna Sui

The designer is known for her fun, colourful, 70s-inspired bohemian style, and this season was no different. One new addition to the runway, though, was the plush toy-like bag in the shape of a platypus. Or is it an alligator? We’re not really sure.

The dreamy NY brand’s latest runway served up bakery-inspired bags. Made in collaboration with Yukiko Morita at Pampshade, they are crafted from real, surplus bread which would otherwise have been discarded. Handmade in Japan, the loaves are baked, hollowed out and coated in an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, eco-friendly resin. The brand’s Bag-uette is a fan favourite (currently sold out, sorry!) but this season it was decorated with vintage brooches, pearls and rhinestones. Another star of the catwalk was a one-of-one giant croissant bag.

  • The nightie dress is the it girl’s best friend

When it comes to film festivals and premieres, I’m generally more excited about what stars are wearing. One particularly enticing trend on the red carpets is the nightie dress.

Charli XCX – of Brat Summer fame – wore a jade green, silky Saint Laurent number for the Toronto International Film Festival recently. (It’s actually a playsuit rather than a dress, but I’d say it still falls into nightie territory.) Also in Toronto, Maude Apatow wore a Valentino look which bears resemblance to the alluring, fur-trimmed, embellished nightgowns worn by Old Hollywood starlets.

Earlier in the week, perennial it girl Alexa Chung attended Venice Film Festival in a dusty pink Chloé nightie from the brand’s autumn/winter 2025 collection earlier this year. The show was the epitome of boho chic, with Victoriana night gowns and lashings of faux fur.

The always-cool Zoë Kravitz wore not one, but two nightie-style dresses for the press tour of her new film, Caught Stealing. For the Paris photocall, she wore a short, lace-trimmed silk slip. For London, an embroidered, sheer ruffle-sleeve dress. Both looks were by Saint Laurent.

The longer dress is similar to a particular style at the moment called the ‘granny nightie.’ As the name suggests, it takes inspiration from old-fashioned nightgowns made of white cotton or silk, with big puffy sleeves.

Why is the nightie so popular as of late? It’s partly due to the boho chic resurgence, which favours a free-spirited, thrifted vibe. Sienna Miller, who was major inspo for this style at the time in the 00s, has been reprising the style recently in Chloé.

Nightie-style looks also appeared at the Nosferatu premieres at the end of last year. Lily-Rose Depp wore vintage Chanel couture in Los Angeles, while Emma Corrin wore McQueen in London. Due to the film’s 1800s setting and many night-time scenes, the nightie made a frequent appearance – which explains the method dressing on the red carpet.

The annual MTV Video Music Awards is not only one of music’s biggest celebrations, but also presents another opportunity for attendees and performers to show off their sartorial best. Sheer was a reigning trend throughout the night held at New York’s UBS Arena, namely with Sabrina Carpenter and Tate McRae outfits. The “Man’s Best Friend” singer stunned in a completely sheer, beaded red gown from Valentino with a lavender fuzzy boa. Meanwhile, McRae embraced the trend in a custom Ludovic de Saint Sernin number that featured a bra top with a plunging sweetheart neckline and twisted spaghetti straps paired with a see-through skirt with a train creating a cutout silhouette.

The sheer mania at the 2025 VMAs is just a gleaming reminder that the naked dress trend is still relevant, and not going anywhere anytime soon. Countless celebrities have rocked the silhouette throughout the years, with stars like Miley Cyrus, Kylie Jenner, and Doechii embracing the look, from the Billboard Women in Music Awards to the Met Gala. And these stars prove the trend has graduated from your average see-through slip to more innovative designs — from cutouts with sheer overlays in full-coverage dresses to see-through catsuits. Of course, we’ve gathered some of the best sultry styles for every style, shape, and occasion that will help you nail the trend.

  • The criss cross jacket is autumn’s most sophisticated trend

This jacket can be worn oversized or fitted, long or shorter, depending on one’s style, personal taste and physicality. You can also play with different fabrics and colours, going from classic, elegant and timeless black, to the more seasonal autumn colours, such as grey, brown, burgundy or green.

But how best to wear the criss cross jacket? There is no real answer to that question except this: there is no right way to wear it, except perhaps to enhance its criss cross structure. But the rest depends a lot on personal style and how you want to interpret it. We’ve seen it in haute couture shows such as Ardazaei’s, as well as in ready-to-wear shows such as in Michael Kors‘ fall-winter 2025 collection, in a tweed version and paired with a suit skirt, or again in a smoky grey option in Prada’s collections.

Calvin Klein paired it with tailored trousers and a pair of lace-ups, for an elegant and sophisticated look with a masculine vibe. The brand Courreges offered up a longer model worn as a mini dress with a pair of boots.

Ultimately, this is a jacket that can be worn with a casual and relaxed look or an elevated one – but that never loses its elegance. It’s feminine, but it will also remind you of the cut of the male double-breasted coat. It allows you to play with shapes: go tight or oversized, short or long. This is bound to be your feel-good item for autumn.

  • The most beautiful boho blouses to wear with flared jeans this autumn

A star garment not only for this season, but of the year in general, are flared jeans. They provide a retro, flattering touch that compliments the figure and adds movement to any outfit. However, for this garment to really shine, it needs a companion to match: the boho blouse. With flowy fabrics, embroidery, florals and details such as ruffles, lace or puffed sleeves, boho blouses are the perfect piece to create outfits with personality. This autumn 2025, this combo is not only a trend, it’s an infallible formula to achieve an effortlessly chic and feminine style.

    Boho blouses with puffed sleeves

Puffed sleeves are still going strong in 2025, giving volume and drama to any outfit. When paired with flared jeans, they create a balanced silhouette: tight in the hips and wide in the shoulders. The colour palette for this autumn consists of earth tones, such as terracotta and mustard, as well as neutral colours in warm shades such as beige or cream. If you are looking for an extra touch, opt for styles with small floral embroidery on the cuffs or neckline.

    Embroidered blouses

The boho spirit has always been linked to craftsmanship and embroidery, and this year this essence is stronger than ever. Blouses with elaborate embroidery are not only beautiful, but also add a unique value to the outfit. For a daytime look, go for a white blouse embroidered in burgundy or green tones with dark flared jeans and suede ankle boots. If you want a more sophisticated look, choose blouses with floral details – perfect for an evening out.

    Vintage-inspired floral prints

The colder months don’t necessarily mean saying goodbye to flowers. In 2025, floral prints are coming in more sober and autumnal tones, such as grey, navy blue and mocha mousse, evoking the ’70s. Boho blouses with these patterns combine perfectly with high-waisted flared jeans, creating a nostalgic yet modern look. Pair this outfit with a wide belt and a wide-brimmed hat to enhance that retro vibe.

    Ruffle and lace blouses

Ruffles and lace add texture and movement, two key elements of the boho aesthetic. A lightweight blouse with ruffles on the neckline or sleeves, paired with flared light wash denim jeans, is perfect for an autumn stroll. Lace, meanwhile, adds a romantic touch that balances nicely with the casual feel of denim. To avoid overloading the outfit, opt for simple accessories in neutral tones.

The duo of boho blouses and flared jeans is much more than a nostalgic trend: it’s a nod to a reinvented style that remains timeless throughout the years. For this autumn/winter 2025 season, this combo allows us to experiment with texture, volume and colour to create outfits that convey freedom and authenticity. Whether for an afternoon coffee, a weekend outing or even for an event with a more formal dress code, these blouses give us versatility and personality, adapting to different tastes and moments.

  • How to style wide-leg trousers: Autumn’s hottest alternative to jeans

As autumn’s hottest alternative to denim, everyone’s asking how to style wide-leg trousers – and let’s just say the fashion set have been getting creative.

These trousers add a sophisticated touch to any outfit, but the slouchy shape gives them a relaxed feel. They’re also right on trend: officewear already experienced a lot of hype last year (see: the office siren.) The style returns in the autumn/winter 2025 collections of the major fashion houses in the form of oversized silhouettes, ties and pinstripe patterns.

15 best wide-leg trousers every woman needs in her capsule wardrobe

Despite their corporate vibe, wide leg trews (or wide suit pants if you’re from across the pond) are just as versatile as our favourite jeans. Opt for a classic look with shirts and blazers, or go casual with leather jackets and knitwear. For autumn, fashion girls are focusing on styles in muted, neutral colours: classic black, elegant grey or trendy brown. Perfect for minimalists.

  • Lily Collins’ anti-Emily in Paris travel look stars two contrasting trends for autumn 2025

The longer Lily Collins plays Emily Cooper, the wider the gap between their style identities becomes.

Unlike the effervescent Emily in Paris protagonist, Lily tends to gravitate towards rock-inspired accents or classic staples in cosy textures. Her latest look – which she wore to travel between filming locations in Europe – includes both. While Emily would never pair a massive Balenciaga city bag with brown suede sneakers, Lily had no such qualms.

As noted by Vogue, Lily made her way to Venice in a utilitarian layered look, pairing black sweatpants with a structured beige button-up layered under a grey Uniqlo drawstring jacket, keeping both collars popped nonchalantly. She finished off the look with the tan Adidas Handball Spezials she’s favoured well before the brown suede sneaker trend took off this summer.

However, Lily is right on time with the bag she carried in lieu of a traditional duffle, toughening up her otherwise preppy ensemble with a ludicrously capacious Balenciaga city bag. You can see the entire look for yourself here.

Balenciaga Le City Medium Textured-Leather Tote

Introduced in 2001, the Balenciaga city bag made a massive comeback this summer, as seen on the arms of influential celebs like Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber, and Tate McRae, as well as a host of street style stars. For her part, Lily lugged around the most capacious version of the Y2K it-bag, similar to the ones carried by Kate Moss, Cameron Diaz, Lindsay Lohan, and Nicole Richie in the early aughts.
