  • Ready to pick pumpkins? These Charlotte-area farms offer fun fall adventures

    Charlotte is embracing the cozy vibes of fall, and pumpkin patches around the area are ready for visitors.

    From climbing through corn mazes and riding hay wagons to sampling sweet seasonal treats and meeting farm animals, there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy this autumn.

    Here are 12 of the best pumpkin farms in Charlotte and the surrounding area:

    Almond Farm

    Location: 5180 US Highway 601 S, Concord, NC 28025

    Cost: $16.98 on the weekend and $13.98 on weekdays. A pumpkin is not included in the price.

    What to know: This family-friendly farm offers a full day of fun for all ages, from hayrides and farm animals to a corn maze and trike track. Inflatable attractions include a 30-foot obstacle course, an 18-foot slide and a 25-foot jump pad, plus farm games, bubble stations and grain bin basketball. Weekends feature hay rides, and weekday rides are available by appointment.

    Bush-N-Vine Farm

    Location: 1650 Filbert Hwy, York, SC 29745

    Cost: Pumpkins less than five pounds are $1.15 per pound. Pumpkins greater than 5 pounds are 69 cents per pound. Reservations are not required.

    What to know: The pumpkin patch is open through Oct. 31, with hours Monday–Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can stop by the farm kitchen for ice cream, hot dogs, apple cider slushies and other sweet treats. Be sure to wear tennis shoes, since the patch can get muddy.

    Carrigan Farms

    Location: 1261 Oakridge Farm Hwy, Mooresville, NC 28115

    Cost: $15 per person. Reservations are required.

    What to know: The pumpkin patch is open through the end of October, with each visit including a hayride and a pumpkin to take home. Guests should wear closed-toed shoes or boots, and pets aren’t permitted. For those seeking a scare, the farm also runs Scarrigan Farms a haunted trail open in October with tickets ranging from $25–$45 per person, available online.

    Cherry Place Farm

    Location: 1922 Oakdale Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29730

    Cost: $10 for ages 2 and up. Reservations are not required.

    What to know: The pumpkin patch is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m. through Oct. 26. Admission covers all activities, including a corn maze, farm animal encounters and free popcorn. Pets aren’t allowed.

    Hall Family Farm

    Location: 445 W Rebound Rd., Lancaster, SC 29720

    Cost: Admission is free, but pumpkins are 70 cents per pound.

    What to know: Visitors can explore both small and large corn mazes, take a hayride and check out the kids zone — with a jungle gym, bird’s nest and corn silo — for an added fee. Children 2 and under get in free.

    Hodges Family Farm

    Location: 3780 Rocky River Rd., Charlotte, NC 28215

    Cost: Parking is $5 on Saturdays and Sundays. Reservations are not required.

    What to know: The pumpkin patch is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through the end of October. Visitors will find pumpkins in every shape and size, plus farm animals and lots of photo ops. On weekends, enjoy hay rides, browse the farm shop and grab sweet treats like kettle corn, funnel cakes and drinks.

    The Hunter Farm

    Location: 13624 Providence Rd., Weddington, NC 28104

    Cost: $13 for ages 2 and older. The cost includes a wagon ride to the petting barn and a small pumpkin from the patch. Reservations are required for the wagon ride.

    What to know: The fall season ends Nov. 2. Hours are Wednesday-Friday, 3-7 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Dogs are not allowed.

    Lineberger’s Maple Springs Farm

    Location: 906 Dallas Stanley Hwy, Dallas, NC 28034

    Cost: $7.50 for a wagon ride, which includes a medium-sized pumpkin.

    What to know: The farm grows more than 100 types of pumpkins, including heirlooms. Wagon rides include a pumpkin, and visitors can enjoy playgrounds, a wooden maze, tire mountains, educational exhibits and a corn crib. The farm also sells mountain apples, cooking pumpkins and a variety of fall squash.

    Patterson Farm

    Location: 10390 Caldwell Rd, Mt Ulla, NC 28125

    Cost: $15 for ages 2 and up on weekdays; $17 for ages 2 and up on weekends. Pumpkins are not included in admission and are priced per pound. Tickets can be purchased online.

    What to know: The fall season runs through Nov. 1. Weekday admission includes the barnyard, PawPaw Carl’s Playground, the corn maze, a wagon ride and more than 40 attractions. On weekends, visitors also get extras like the cow barrel train ride along with all the other activities. Dogs aren’t allowed, except for registered service animals.

    Riverbend Farm

    Location: 12150 McManus Rd, Midland, NC 28107

    Cost: $6 for ages 2 and up. Pumpkins are 50 cents per pound. Reservations are not required.

    What to know: The farm is open through the end of October, with hours Monday–Friday from 3:30 to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m. Admission includes a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch, a barn full of animals and a farm-themed playground.

    Shelby Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch

    Location: 120 Broadway Dr., Shelby, NC 28152

    Cost: Admission to the farm is $15 and includes access to the corn maze and more than 40 other activities. Admission for the haunted maze is $15. Reservations are not required, but tickets can be purchased online.

    What to know: The farm is open through Nov. 2, with hours Friday 4-10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sunday 2-8 p.m. The haunted maze opens after dark on Fridays and Saturdays. Dogs are welcome but must stay leashed.

    Wise Acres

    Cost: $3 for ages 2 and up. You can pay an additional $29 for two Wise Pie Pizzas. With your ticket, you’ll get pumpkin field access, with pumpkins available for purchase. Reservations are required.

    What to know: The fall season runs through Nov. 2. Extras like the corn pit, wagon and barrel train rides, food and drinks are available for an additional fee. Dogs aren’t allowed on the farm.
