Every fall marks the return of beloved staples (like knee-high boots, sweater dresses, or leather jackets), but it also brings in the possibility of adopting something “new.” Of course, when it comes to trends, there’s nothing that’s ever entirely original—inspiration is constantly drawn from the past. As runway collections have tapped nostalgia more and more, we’ve witnessed formerly “dated” trends be transformed into something that feels brand new.

Nothing shows that more than the return of furry accessories. Fur accessories have always waned in and out of style as humans have worn them for centuries. However, they first gained notoriety in the fashion world in the 1960s, thanks to designers like Karl Lagerfield coining the term “fun fur” when working at Fendi. But the ’90s marked an even more significant shift in the popularity of fur, as fabric production innovations allowed for the creation of faux fur, making the fabric more animal-friendly and affordable. The result was the creation of a slew of furry accessories that managed to define the decade and continue to do so to this day.

We can see furry accessories continued presence in the fashion zeitgeist, most recently in fall/winter 2022 collections. From Kim Jones at Fendi to Donatella at Versace, we saw no shortage of designers taking this ’90s-inspired accessory and reenvisioning it in a way that could make even the most forward-thinking fashionphiles feel a flicker of nostalgia.

So, without further ado, here are the three ways this trend reemerged on the runway, along with the best furry accessories to shop for right now.

  • French Glamour: The Styling Combo That I Can’t Wait to Wear

French Glamour: The Styling Combo That I Can’t Wait to Wear

    [ad_1]

    Photo:

    Saint Laurent

There were a lot of thrills on the S/S 23 runways, but in my book, the moment that bested them all belonged to Saint Laurent. In a dazzling presentation set against the Eiffel Tower, Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello sent down one of his strongest silhouettes to date: padded-shoulder maxi coats layered over skintight jumpsuits and body-hugging maxi dresses. While Vaccarello also heavily showcased sheer dresses and seductive midriff cutouts, it was this maxi coat-and-dress pairing that ruled the show (14 out of its 49 looks to be exact). And apparently, I wasn’t the only fan. (Beyoncé wore one of the looks to her Renaissance album release party only a few days later.) Reportedly inspired by performer Martha Graham and ’80s French glamour, the overall styling felt unabashedly glossy, elegant, and enigmatic.

Although runway trends usually take some time before they’re able to be directly interpreted, this trend descended in the middle of maxi-hemline mania—meaning there’s no shortage of maxi dresses and coats to make this look work. As any fashion obsessive would, I did my homework and compiled a few options of the styling combo for you. Below, see how to pull off Saint Laurent’s vision of French glamour right now before the runway collection drops.

  • These 27 Lug-Sole Boots Are as Functional as They Are Stylish

These 27 Lug-Sole Boots Are as Functional as They Are Stylish

    [ad_1]

There’s no denying that the chunky boot trend of 2020 is still going strong for 2022. However, of all the clunkier varieties of boots one can buy, lug-sole boots are the one style that holds a special place in our hearts. Equal parts, stylish and functional, it is the one footwear option we think everyone should have in their closet come fall and winter.

Think about it: What boot style is better equipped for trudging through winter’s impending snow, slush, and ice? Designed with better grip than average boots, their hefty soles help keep your feet nice and dry and provide a bit of protection against slipping and sliding. While practical, it doesn’t hurt that this season’s styles are cute enough to pair with practically any outfit, whether you opt for knee-high boots, heeled combat boots, or something in between.

Ahead, we rounded up 27 of the best pairs of lug-sole boots for stomping around in. Trust that there’s a pair (or two) for you, no matter your sartorial taste, from flat to heeled, ankle to knee-high. Keep scrolling to shop our favorites, starting at just $46.

52 Trending Items I Found While Shopping the Sites Fashion Editors Love

    [ad_1]

The truth is that our fashion editors shop at a range of stores. That said, there is a select group of sites that most of the team unanimously agrees are go-to spots for A+ finds. And I’m here to showcase said spots.

But rather than simply list the e-commerce destinations (note that many also have brick-and-mortar locations), I thought I’d take a gander through each of the sites in question and pull out trending products as well.

Below you’ll find a curtain of sites fashion editors love, along with an edit of forward finds you can buy at each. Included in the mix are top-notch denim cuts available at Nordstrom and Amazon& Other Stories, and standout accessories from Net-a-Porter and Shopbop. Keep scrolling for a smattering of fall shopping inspiration.

  • The Very Best New Blazers From H&M, Mango, and J.Crew

The Very Best New Blazers From H&M, Mango, and J.Crew

    [ad_1]

Call me lazy, but I’ll never give up wearing my favorite jeans and white tees. All I need to do is add a posh blazer for the office or a slouchy cardigan for the weekend, and I’m all set. When it comes to the former, I’m a firm believer that you can never have too many blazers. They look just as cool paired with matching trousers as they do with ripped, baggy jeans—blazers are just that versatile.

To help you find a new jacket for fall, I rounded up my favorites from a trio of our readers’ most-requested brands: H&M, Mango, and J.Crew. Starting at $40, my list includes a wide variety of styles, including faux leather, houndstooth, bright green, classic black, and more. Scroll down to shop my favorite new blazers for women.

8 Fall Skirt Trends That Will Make You Want to Ditch Your Pants

While full skirts have been a staple since the 19th century, we’ve typically seen this style at its peak popularity during times of austerity (i.e., the civil war, the great depression, and the ’50s). And with the world being in such a state of fluxation, it only makes sense that we’d see designers drawn to more voluminous silhouettes. But unlike past iterations, these skirts have a more modern take that can be attributed to tailoring and color blocking rather than draping.

At Bottega Veneta, leather fringe was used as an underskirt to create a full silhouette, while pleats were used at Prada to the same avail. In contrast, Proenza Schouler used color blocking and bias-cutting to create the illusion of volume. And then (my personal favorite) was how Tory Burch paired full lurex shirts with contrasting fitted wrap tops to create a crisp, accentuated silhouette. Each iteration of this skirt proves that while this trend may be “old,” it can never be dull (if done right).

Ankle boots are a year-round fashion-girl favorite and an undisputed staple in colder months, and while it’s easy to pair your go-tos with skinny jeans, there are plenty of other ways to work with them. Although skinny jeans will never go out of style, we’ve been seeing a different style taking over lately: cropped pants with booties.

For a look that makes a statement, we urge you to take inspiration from your favorite style stars and celebrities and consider pairing your ankle boots with cropped pants. Yes, the combo can be tricky, but as Kendall Jenner and plenty of other It girls demonstrate, the results are fresh and fashion-forward—and there’s no better way to show off your favorite boots. So whether you’re wearing some boot-cut jeans, wide-leg slacks with hemlines at the calf, or three-quarter patent leather leggings, consider finishing off your look with ankle boots. It’s the Year of Lingerie-Inspired Trends: These 5 Risqué Pieces Are Next

    [ad_1]

Certain moments live eternally within the fashion lexicon, and they continually serve as a reference point to everyone after them. One of those being when Madonna wore the infamous conical Jean Paul Gaultier bra she wore during her Blonde Ambition tour. Needless to say, designers have long adopted intimates as something more than pieces to slip underneath our clothes. Fast forward 30 years after the iconic bra, and lingerie is still as ever a part of ready-to-wear’s DNA (for evidence, a revived Jean Paul Gaultier has recently rereleased the cone bra).

Looking at the most recent fall collections—which are also now hitting retailers—sparkly bras, transparent skirts, and corsets litter its offerings. Some might even say risque trends are at a fever pitch. And if the number of see-through dresses on sites like Net-a-Porter and Moda Operandi is any indication, it might be time to add a spicy piece or two to your own closets. From Bottega Veneta to Prada and Versace, keep scrolling to read through the five lingerie-inspired trends dominating the conversation. They’re daring and a bit controversial, but what’s fashion without a bit of fun?

Question: which pieces in your closet do you predict will still be in style six months from now? There are, of course, staples that will always be stylish, but beyond that, it can be hard to foresee what fashion trends will manage to stay relevant. In part, that’s due to the very fast-paced nature of the industry—micro-trends come and go, and brands blow up overnight. Add on top of that the fact that most of us don’t have an endless budget to spend on new clothing, nor is shopping all the time sustainable, so we have to invest in things that will last longer. And while the idea of long-term trends may seem like an oxymoron, designers always create a few things that manage to crossover every season without fail.

Identifying them, of course, takes time, but luckily for you, dear reader, we have it. Ahead, you’ll find ten fashion trends that will be stylish well into next year, based on hours of looking through Fall/Winter 2022 and Spring/Summer 2023 runway images. If you’re still wondering what pieces can manage to still look good six months from now, you’ll want to keep scrolling…

    Press Release

    Sep 28, 2022

U.S. Polo Assn., the official brand of the United States Polo Association (USPA), has launched its iconic, sport-inspired Fall Collection for 2022. Resulting in images and video used by U.S. Polo Assn. partners around the world, the brand’s global photoshoot took place in beautiful Lake Tahoe, chosen for the scenic coastline that provided a pristine backdrop against the autumn hues in U.S. Polo Assn.’s newest collection.

This season’s global photoshoot showcases models bundled in lakeside layers on the wooded shores of Lake Tahoe, wearing seasonal trends of warm autumn tones and soft silhouettes surrounded by sparkling water, dense forests, and majestic mountains. The autumnal colors of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range provided amazing images for the U.S. Polo Assn. global photoshoot, showcasing the Fall 2022 Collection to consumers in stores and online around the world. Filled with remixed flannels, denim on denim, puffer vests, and long-sleeve polo shirts, the newest collection brings a fresh take on classic American styling.

This event will be held at the USPA National Polo Center (NPC) — Wellington, which was recently purchased by the USPA earlier this year.”

Touchable texture, color-blocked patterns, and cozy outerwear inspired by rich harvest hues are all standouts in the U.S. Polo Assn. Fall 2022 Collection. Fans of the brand can pair the fall-colored accents of rust, golden oranges and lichen greens with classic neutrals of khaki and indigo to create crisp, classic looks that are perfect for the season. Not to mention, timeless staples such as sweaters, cardigans and denim are all available for men, women and children.
