17 best LED face masks for a glowing complexion, including Kate Moss’ favourite

For the face masks we haven’t yet had a chance to test, we’ve spoken to experts and studied customer reviews to bring you the information you need.

What are the benefits of LED face masks?

LED light therapy has been around for more than 30 years and is suitable for use on all skin types and tones. We’ve already answered all of your “what is light therapy?” questions in some serious depth, so head over there for a real deep dive. According to Dr Radmila Lukian, in short, light therapy refers to the process of exposing skin to different wavelengths of light – including red, blue light and yellow – which “stimulate collagen production and purify the skin”. The light emitted by your LED face mask is absorbed by your skin, and as the light wavelength increases, so does the depth of penetration.

Each different light type stimulates a different response – which means every colour boasts different skincare benefits – but generally speaking, “the treatment can help improve skin texture, reduce blemishes and hyperpigmentation, and even out skin tone.”

LED light therapy can be used to reduce breakouts, pigmentation, rosacea symptoms, psoriasis and other side-effects of inflammation. If you don’t suffer from the above complaints, LED light therapy can simply help to improve the general appearance of your skin and reduce visible signs of ageing. And boost your wellness, ‘cos kicking back with a treatment is really rather relaxing.

Which light is best on LED masks?

“The colour of the LED light to use depends on your specific skin concerns,” Dr. Jinah Yoo said.

    • Blue light: this is the bacteria-fighting LED light. It triggers photochemical oxidation in order to kill bacteria living on the skin. This makes blue light an excellent choice for those with acne, eczema or rosacea.
    • Red light: stimulates our fibroblasts for cell renewal and ATP regeneration.
    • Near-Infrared: has no colour but it can be used to reduce inflammation and redness in the skin. It also speeds up wound healing and reduces pigmentation.
    • Amber or yellow light: Amber LED light is the least common in at-home devices, but works to revitalise the skin, reduce swelling and boost your skin’s radiance.

What are the side effects of LED light therapy masks?

“It is generally safe to use an at-home LED face mask every day,” Dr. Lukian said, “but it’s recommended to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and not overuse it. Using it for up to 20 minutes a day, 3-5 times a week is a good starting point.”

The LED used in at-home devices is much weaker than what it would be in-salon, and actually, the devices often undergo much more rigorous testing because they need to be safe enough to use without the presence of a professional.

“When using an LED face mask, it’s important to be consistent with the treatment, but not overuse it. You should also be patient, as it may take several weeks to see the full benefits. It’s also important to maintain healthy skincare habits, including a thorough skincare regime and using face SPF daily.”

To ensure your safety, never buy an LED face mask that hasn’t been FDA improved, and Dr. Lukian suggested that “if you have sensitive skin or conditions like rosacea, it’s best to consult with a dermatologist before using one.”

Beginning next month, employees for the popular chain In-N-Out Burger will be banned from wearing masks in five of the seven states where it operates.

According to internal company memos leaked online, In-N-Out employees in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada and Texas will be barred from wearing masks beginning Aug. 14. Those who wish to wear a mask after that date will need to obtain a medical note, the company said.

However, employees in California — where In-N-Out is headquartered — and Oregon will be exempted from the requirements due to state laws there.

The company wrote in its memos that its new policy will “help to promote clear and effective communication both with our customers and among our associates.”

Employees who receive permission to wear a mask “for medical reasons must wear a company provided N-95 mask,” the memos read.

This is not the first time that In-N-Out has implemented controversial policies since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. In October of 2021, health authorities in San Francisco temporarily shuttered an In-N-Out store on Fisherman’s Wharf for refusing to check customers’ COVID-19 vaccination status, as was required by local laws at the time.

“We refuse to become the vaccination police for any government,” Arnie Wensinger, the chain’s chief legal and business officer, said in a statement at the time.

That same month In-N-Out was also fined hundreds of dollars for refusing to check customers’ vaccination status at a store in Pleasant Hill, California, which is also in the Bay Area.

CBS News reached out to In-N-Out for comment regarding the latest policy, but did not immediately hear back.

  • New York police say shoppers should take off face masks before entering stores

New York police say shoppers should take off face masks before entering stores

    [ad_1]

Face masks, once an essential Covid-19 protective measure, are now being worn by criminals to conceal their identities, according to New York police who are urging businesses to unmask customers before letting them in stores.

The recommendation is a 180-degree turn from mask-wearing norms at the onset of the pandemic. During peak periods of infection, federal agencies mandated mask-wearing in public places, while many businesses required customers to wear them on the premises.

Now, however, some businesses are banning customers from entering the premises with face masks on, saying the policy change is needed to identify thieves. And after numerous incidents, the New York Police Department is urging business owners to make shoppers remove their face masks and flash their features before being let in.

“We’re seeing far too often where people are coming up to our businesses, sometimes with masks and latex gloves, and they’re being buzzed in, they’re being allowed to enter into the store and then we have a robbery or some kind of property being stolen,” NYPD chief of department Jeffrey Maddrey said recently in an address to the local business community.

He acknowledged that during the pandemic, most businesses wouldn’t allow patrons to enter stores without masks, and sometimes even gloves.  Pre-pandemic, however, most businesses wouldn’t allow you to walk in there with a mask and latex gloves on, he said.

New York State even recently scrapped a mandate that masks be worn in healthcare settings.

    “Condition of entry”

“We’re asking the businesses to make this a condition of entry: That people, when they come in, they should show their face, they should identify themselves,” Maddrey added. “And if they feel like they want to put their mask on after they identify themselves for their safety, by all means, they should do so.”

The NYPD’s appeal to businesses comes after a “masked up” criminal entered a Queens jewelry store and allegedly made off with $1.1 million worth of property after beating the 79-year-old woman who was watching the store.

“Since the pandemic, this is a way of life for us, where people wear masks regularly. But we’re seeing this being used too much as a ruse, to enter into businesses and to victimize our businesses,” Maddrey said.

He added that businesses can permit customers to don their masks after they’ve identified themselves.

“It can be a condition of entry that a mask is removed, and once the person is identified, they can put their mask back on for safety,” he said.

Mind Beauty Discusses the New Dating Culture and What Role Masks Will Play on Valentine’s Day

    [ad_1]

The pandemic has changed many things and dating is one of them. Mind Beauty, the creator of the AM99 Mask weighs in on how masks will play a role on Valentine’s Day and dating, in general, moving forward.

    Press Release

    updated: Feb 2, 2021

Since social distancing measures including stay-at-home orders and face masks came into effect in March of 2020, the dating world has changed. Mind Beauty, the San Francisco, California-based company behind the AM99TM line of protective and reusable face masks is weighing in on the new dating culture and how masks will continue to play a prominent role.

Before the pandemic, people were used to meeting others at different events and social settings and going on face-to-face dates.

Now, as a result of COVID-19, there’s been a shift in the dating landscape. However, despite these changes, Match Group with brands like Tinder, Match, Meetic, OKCupid, Hinge, Pairs, PlentyOfFish, and OurTime among other brands in its portfolio, reported a 15 percent increase in new subscribers over the second quarter of 2020.

As dating apps thrive and interest in finding a companion continues to grow, people everywhere are slowly but surely venturing out again. This time, while wearing a mask.

And, while face masks have changed fashion culture, they’ve also changed how people interact with strangers and potential love interests.

“Adaptability is a major theme that came to the surface during this pandemic,” said Joei Lau, Founder of Mind Beauty, “From adapting to a new way of life to wearing face coverings and social distancing to finding creative ways to date, we’ve all had to make changes in one way or another.”

In 2020, the idea of mask fashion grew in popularity as people found innovative and unique ways to adapt to their “new normal” of wearing a face mask and matching this new accessory with their outfits.

Mind Beauty’s reusable, lab-certified, cotton-based AM99 mask aligns perfectly with the trend as they come in a variety of colors including pink and red which are perfect options for a Valentine’s Day date.

Meaningful and emotional connections are an essential part of life and though dating during a pandemic looks a lot different than most are used to, there are still ways to safely connect with others such as a virtual first date, checking transmission rates in the area before meeting in person, or planning an outdoor activity.

No matter the idea, the breathable AM99 mask is a great option for Valentine’s Day as it provides the wearer with the ultimate mix of form and function.

“Our customizable masks can complement any outfit while providing ultimate comfort thanks to the nose bridge that can be adjusted to fit snug to the wearer’s face which is especially beneficial to avoid fogged lenses for people with glasses,” Lau noted.

The AM99 mask is different from other masks on the market for a number of reasons including:

    • Added protection reduces contact with the family of coronaviruses and other microorganisms including MRSA, E.coli, and Klebsiella pneumonia as well as many more global health concern contagions that can lead to meningitis, salmonella, urinary tract infections, and food poisoning
    • Greatly reduces chances of surface-to-surface transmission
    • Washable up to 70 times
    • Environmentally-friendly solution
    • No filters to change
    • Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-mutagenic
    • Independent lab-certified protection
    • Active components manufactured in Japan using patented technology

Find the perfect mask in terms of protection, comfort, sanitary experience, and fashion this Valentine’s Day and beyond with MindBeauty’s AM99 mask.
