    Charlie Rounds is the former co-owner of RSVP Vacations, co-founder of Brand g Vacations, and managed a $30 million-plus retail and business travel agency. Rounds wrote the business plan for the IGLTA Foundation and was the 2011 recipient of IGLTA’s Hanns Ebensten Hall of Fame Award.

    Don Ofstedal is also a former co-owner of RSVP Vacations. Before that Ofstedal was the President of the Travel Company of Minnesota where his 20-year career covered every aspect of the travel agency industry.

    Nick Alm is a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. Alm completed his first international flight just two years ago for a 10-day business exchange in Cuba.  Since then he has become an avid traveler. Nick co-founded The Carlson School’s first undergraduate LGBT organization where he developed a deep passion for advancing conversations about LGBT issues within the travel industry.

    “We are very excited to share our 50-plus years’ experience in the travel industry with the Gay Travel community, said Rounds, Program Manager at Mossier. “The three of us have visited 74 countries, some of which did not even exist 30 years ago.     ​​​​With nearly 30 years of marriage under his belt, Christian Hollywood Actor Kirk Cameron is hitting the road for a tour he’s calling “Living Room Reset” and a promise that it will be “unlike any event you’ve ever been to.” And for the first time, his wife Chelsea has created some amazing new content to join the tour via video.

    On Jan. 26, Cameron will be packing the living room up in a trailer and will be stopping at The Church International in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to speak and provide resources to help strengthen marriages and child-parent relationships. 

    I’ve found that through the last 22 years of being a dad, 27 years of being a husband – that there’s nothing our family can’t get through, nothing we can’t figure out if we’ll just gather in the living room and take time to reset a few things, to refocus on the things that really matter.

    The Cameron’s have six children, ages 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 21. They hope they can teach moms, dads and kids about growing together, learning together, struggling, falling, and recovering – all while learning to trust God more and serve one another better.

    One thing this tour is doing that has never been done before is that Cameron is allowing the attendees in every city to custom tailor the discussions each night to what they want to hear. “When an attendee reserves their seat at KirkCameron.com, they will then be asked to select the content they want to hear. I figured, why waste time talking about topics that don’t need to be discussed,” Cameron commented.

    The Malta Gaming Authority, where Dr. Martina Cilia serves as Senior Legal Counsel, is the single regulatory body responsible for the governance of all gaming activities on the island and has a stated vision of adapting Malta’s gaming regulatory framework to evolving market needs as well as affecting international policy and promoting international cooperation.

    Before the opening panel René Janssen, chairman of the KSA will be providing an analysis of the ban on untargeted advertising for online games of chance in the Netherlands. Advertising, that is banned as of July 1, 2023, ten days before iGB Live! opening in Amsterdam, includes radio and TV commercials and public billboards.

    Sponsoring by online gaming providers will also fall under the ban after a transitional period. Advertising via the internet, including social media, targeted advertising, direct mailings, and television on demand will remain permitted under strict conditions.

    With the inaugural Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix just a week away, room rates along the famous Strip are experiencing declines.

    Over the past year, room prices at several Caesars Entertainment properties, monitored by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, have witnessed reductions of up to 75%, offering potential attendees more affordable accommodations leading up to the race weekend from November 16 to 18.

    According to Dr. Mehmet Erdem, a professor of hotel operations and technology at UNLV’s William F. Harrah College of Hospitality, a decrease in average rates isn’t uncommon if booking momentum has slowed down.

    However, he emphasizes that this decline may not necessarily indicate a decrease in anticipated revenue potential. Erdem told Review-Journal: “Despite the decrease in room rates, judging by the pricing of venues and restaurants for the race weekend, the demand is going to be high.”

    Here’s a breakdown of the changes in four-day stays (Nov. 16-19) at four Caesars Entertainment properties, as per Review-Journal:

    Novomatic showcases its latest products for the Balkans at Belgrade Future Gaming | Yogonet International

    Novomatic attended the recent Belgrade Future Gaming (BFG) in Serbia. The company noted that the event proved to be successful, with major members from the Balkans industry featured at the show. Also present at the event was local Electronic Table Games (ETG) specialist FAZI, sharing the stand with Novomatic.

    As per Novomatic, from May 30-31, the Belgrade Fair turned into the “epicenter of the Balkans gaming industry.” This year’s BFG gathered the regional industry stakeholders for a performance show of gaming news and highlights.

    Novomatic highlighted the products it has released thus far in 2023 at the event. The company presented its Black Edition, which it calls the next generation of top performers with the BLACK EDITION II cabinet series.

    The BLACK EDITION II 3.27, the successor of the original with a setup of three characteristically angled 27” screens, was on display. Meanwhile, the BLACK EDITION II XL 3.32 is an XL version with three 32” screens; and the BLACK EDITION II 1.49J aims to exemplify a modern approach, featuring a 49” J-curve monitor for the growing range of Novomatic upright games and progressive titles. 

    The new cabinet line featured a variety of the company’s latest gaming highlights such as NOVO LINE Edition X4, Impera-Line HD Edition 9, IMPERA LINK Series 2, and the linked progressive multi-game CASH CONNECTION Edition 4.

    The DIAMOND X was also on display in versions 3.32 featuring Superia CASH CONNECTION Volume 2 and the 1.55J featuring the exclusive XTENSION LINK Volume 1. Novomatic describes the cabinet as elegant, with its J-curve screen in combination with the new circular signage package for the XTENSION LINK. As per Novomatic, the cabinet was a favorite with show visitors. 

    Novomatic notes that the DIAMOND X is a top-performing set-up that already yields “clear above-floor-average,” and in many cases top-floor, performance in numerous casinos across different markets. 

    At the recent Global Gaming Awards 2023 in London, the DIAMOND X won the category “Product Launch of the Year,” which the company notes is a “testament to the fact that this cabinet has quickly become a favorite with international operators and their guests alike.”

    The visitors in Belgrade also discovered the latest addition to the Novomatic slot slant top segment: The MASTER SL 3.32 was on display with the Superia GOLDEN LINK Volume 1 as well as NOVO LINE GOLDEN LINK Edition 1 linked multi-games.

    In the dedicated FAZI area of the stand, the local ETG specialist showcased ETG solutions such as the TITAN ROULETTE in a show set-up featuring four player stations, a fully automated Roulette wheel, and an integrated display solution.

    The trade show display also featured catering and hospitality services at the Novomatic/FAZI booth in Belgrade, which were provided in what the company calls the cozy-chic of the new AdmiralBet Pub concept that has been recently launched in Serbia.

    Lottery and gaming solutions provider Skilrock Technologies announced that the company’s CEO will participate in a panel discussion at the CIBELAE Congress 2023, to be held at the Altis Grand Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal, from November 19 to 22.

    The company, which is set to exhibit at the meeting, has confirmed Sujit Lahiry, Executive Director & CEO of Skilrock, will participate in the “Presentación de un caso de éxito” (Presentation of a success case) panel discussion on 21st November 2023 (from 12:20 to 12:50 p.m.)

    In addition to featuring Skilrock’s Lahiry, the panel session will also see the participation of Daniel Romanowski, President of Lottopar, Brazil; and Edson Lenzi, CEO of Paybrokers. 

    Daniel Romanowski, president of Lottopar of Brasil, will share the success story of Lottopar and its relationship with the consortium formed by Skilrock and Paybrokers. This presentation will touch on points such as its current status, plans for the future, identifying challenges, solving them and providing long-term benefits to the partnering entities.

    In addition, Sujit Lahiry and Edson Lenzi will share their views on “the resounding success of the project and their respective companies’ roles in it.”

    The session is crucial to understanding Lottopar’s relationship with Skilrock Technologies and Paybroker. I strongly believe that it will also underscore how we are strengthening the lottery ecosystem in the LatAm region and contributing to its growth and development,” said Sujit Lahiry.

     

    The consortium formed by Skilrock Technologies and Paybrokers has won the electronic auction to supply the lottery platform for future Lotepar (Paraná State Lottery) operators. This is integrated with a payment system to manage, regulate and control the financial flow. The project is considered a success in the regional lottery industry and holds huge prospects for the near future, according to Skilrock

    Skilrock is also participating in the CIBELAE Congress 2023 as an exhibitor. It is exhibiting a lineup of solutions, which will be displayed at booth number 4. Some examples include Paper Lottery Solutions (Paper Lottery Management, POS, iLottery), Scratch, LRS, Scan-n-Play, etc.

    Ahead of the conference, Yogonet held an exclusive video interview with Skilrock’s Carlos Contreras, Project Coordinator for LatAm. The interview captured a variety of topics, including solutions for the lottery and gaming world, new collaborations and partnerships, innovation, improved gaming practices, the growing scope of digitization, the demand for localization, and more.

    The upcoming edition of ICE London is now only one week away from launch, and expectations are as high as they could be. The global industry is set to reunite once again at ExCel London for what promise to be three stacked days of networking, education and gaming novelties at one of the major events for the sector, now occupying a record 51,466 sqm of net space and 41 halls.

    Among companies returning to London for ICE’s first truly grand-scale edition since the pandemic is Merkur Gaming. There, the gaming brand, part of the German-based Gauselmann Group, will showcase its latest products at a massive booth display, where the business will be joined by its sister companies and representatives from a variety of the countries in which it has a market presence.

    Ahead of the event, Yogonet caught up with David Orrick, director of Industry Relations with Merkur Gaming, on what the brand’s showcase will be like, the importance of ICE London’s return to its pre-pandemic glory days, and how the company was able to keep innovation at the forefront during the pandemic.

    The company will be participating in the upcoming edition of ICE London with what it called “the biggest and brightest booth display in London’s ExCeL north halls.” What will attendees approaching the stand find?

    Walk through the well-signed N4 door at ExCel and you will be very welcome at Merkur World. Take a quick look around or walk first to the well-staffed Info Booth then prepare to be excited and motivated by the range of products on display. You will find a wide range of Linked Jackpot Progressive systems: Link Zone, Solar Link, China Charms, the Legend of Fulu Chen and Red Pocket, plus the Merkur Mystery display.

    Add to that a new Jackpot making its international show debut, the simply named ‘Five’, a brand new and unique cabinet innovation ‘Zonic’, a range of new games destined to become strong sensations in their multigame application and not forgetting an impressive theatre style presentation of the Merkur Roulette and it is very clear there is much to see and perhaps play for yourself.

    Given ICE London’s status as one of the major global events in the industry, what are your expectations and objectives for the expo?

    After almost three years of wait, ICE is back on its traditional dates and venue. It is a hugely welcome return to a show that Merkur regards as its ‘home event’. As the whole world has changed since 2020 so too has the entire dynamic of the gaming industry itself.

    Gaming, both land-based and online, has expanded into a landscape where content is King, entertainment in gaming is more critical than ever and so too is the important social responsibility element of the entire industry. Merkur is an established omni-channel solutions provider and our primary objective at ICE is to present our Merkur World, in all its sectors, to visitors from across the globe.

    We expect a great show: one that will still have challenges to meet but one that hopefully can return ICE to its place of world dominance in the gaming B2B exhibitions sphere.

    Merkur Gaming will be supported by other members of the gaming family at the expo, including regional subsidiaries, Merkur eSolutions, and online gaming specialist edict eGaming. What can you tell us about this multi-area approach to gaming?

    The Merkur presentation represents, as already stated, our global omni-channel solutions status. That is why we have strong reputation from our many national subsidiaries such as Merkur Dosniha from Spain, Merkur Gaming Netherlands, Blueprint from the UK (with its separate presentations for both online and land based gaming); representation from our Latin American companies in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Peru; and national representations from Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia who, together with colleagues, bring our strong presence across Europe, and beyond, to the fore.

    The event comes as we enter a new year for gambling. What is your assessment of the company’s performance in 2022, and what should we expect from it in 2023?

    As could be expected, the post-pandemic year 2022 saw the gaming industry’s gradual, and successful, recovery worldwide. But even through the darkest days of the pandemic, its enforced shutdowns and its subsequent financial downturns, Merkur kept on working: particularly in the areas of research and development and product planning. Many of the innovations to be seen from Merkur at ICE 2023 are the direct result of that outstanding commitment to keep working, no matter what the challenges.

    What other industry events does the company plan to attend in 2023?

    While the Merkur 2023 show calendar is still being fine-tuned, it can be expected that our success in and our commitment to Latin America will see us return in strength to Lima for the Peru Gaming Show, our growth across eastern Europe, the Balkans and beyond will dictate our presence in Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria and, of course, we will have our traditional major presence at G2E in Las Vegas in the autumn. Our clients expect our presence at these, and other events and, as always, our commitment to our customers remains as strong as ever.
