Ethereum Underperforming, Don’t Blame The Network Or Leadership: Here’s Why

Este artículo también está disponible en español.

Ethereum is the laggard in this bullish cycle. When Bitcoin soared to register fresh all-time highs, easing past $70,000 in March, ETH prices struggled to break $4,000. When it did, the best the coin could do was retest $4,100 before dumping hard.

In the past seven months, after the second most valuable coin registered 2024 highs, it is down nearly 40%. Considering its performance over the past three months, there are concerns that Ethereum could post even more losses. Technically, this may be the case should it fail to breach $3,000 in the coming sessions.

Don’t Blame Ethereum Or Its Leaders For ETH’s Underperformance

Taking to X, one analyst thinks ETH is trailing Bitcoin, Solana, and even Tron, not because of how the network is designed or its leadership. In his view, the dismal performance over the past seven months concerns the “uninformed” investors.

Admittedly, after prices peaked in March, Vitalik Buterin and the Ethereum Foundation have been offloading their stash. According to Dune, the foundation has been transferring coins regularly.

On September 6, they moved 1,000 ETH when the coin changed hands at $2,300. Most of these coins were sent to exchanges for liquidation. Although Buterin sells ETH from time to time, the co-founder has been selling meme coins heavily and donating to various charities across the globe.

Usually, whenever a senior executive or foundation sells, it is bearish. However, pointing to the analyst’s assessment, their actions, including many others centered on network improvement, aren’t a big concern.

ETH To Be A Better Store Of Value Than Bitcoin For Growth?

The analyst on X thinks ETH is falling because investors lack knowledge about the project’s fundamental strengths. Most importantly, the argument is that ETH can be a better store of value than gold.  The observer insists that Ethereum and Bitcoin compete, and claiming otherwise is a mistake. Both of these networks want to dominate the market eventually.

So far, Bitcoin is the most valuable. On the other hand, Ethereum is the most active smart contracts platform, offering more versatility and is “richer” than the first blockchain.

For ETH to grow in strength, it must establish itself as a superior store of value, better than Bitcoin. This will require the network to have strong supply dynamics and a greater focus on finance as a primary use case. Once this happens, ETH will be more attractive not only to investors but also to developers.

  • Crypto Capo Returns After 2 Months To Predict Ethereum Decline To $1,800, Is It Time To Go Long?

Crypto Capo Returns After 2 Months To Predict Ethereum Decline To $1,800, Is It Time To Go Long?

Este artículo también está disponible en español.

Popular crypto analyst Il Capo of Crypto has returned to social media platform X after over two months of hiatus to drop an interesting outlook for Bitcoin and Ethereum in the coming months in light of the recent correction since the beginning of October. The analyst, which has been so big on a looming altseason since the beginning of the year, has revealed a bearish outlook for Bitcoin and even Ethereum (king of altcoins) in the short term.

Known for his sometimes controversial and often contrarian predictions, Capo returned just as the market experienced a notable correction in October, sharing his bearish outlook for both Bitcoin and Ethereum. His latest prediction is that Ethereum could plummet as low as $1,800 before seeing any substantial recovery.

    ETH’s Predicted Decline

Ethereum has already dropped by 10% in the past seven days and is currently trading around around $2,330, but according to Capo, this decline could worsen. He predicted that ETH might fall further into the $1,800 to $2,000 range, which is a possible 23% dip from its current price, before eventually rebounding. However, he believes an altcoin season will still materialize.

    Related Reading

Capo’s track record of analysis since the beginning of the year shows a consistent belief in the upcoming dominance of altcoins. Throughout 2024, he has repeatedly emphasized the potential for altcoins, particularly Ethereum, to outperform Bitcoin as profits generated from BTC flow into smaller assets. However, the altcoin season has yet to materialize, and Bitcoin has continued to dominate the crypto investment scene.

Time To Go Long On Ethereum?

It’s worth noting that Crypto Capo’s predictions often have a certain lore attached to them. There is a running joke among some investors that whenever Capo makes a prediction, the market tends to do the opposite. This goes as far back as his prediction of Bitcoin falling to $12,000 last year, but the crypto eventually broke past resistance levels. Now, with Capo predicting the possibility of continued decline for Ethereum and Bitcoin amid October’s bullish market sentiment (often dubbed “Uptober”), it raises the question from many investors if his bearish call is far-fetched.

    Related Reading

Only time will tell if the market plays out according to Capo’s analysis. However, given the current inflow of investments and the crypto market, which has mostly rallied in October, it wouldn’t be surprising if Ethereum rebounds rather than experiences the significant drop Capo is forecasting.

Naturally, many savvy whales and traders have seen the current decline as an opportunity to “go long” and accumulate more Ethereum in expectation of the resumption of inflows. This sentiment is reflected through the US Spot Ethereum ETFs, which witnessed $14.45 million in inflows yesterday despite the price correction.

Interestingly, it is important to note that Capo’s analysis is only talking about a possible case and remains bullish for Ethereum in the long term.

Ethereum Whales Spend $185 Million To Accumulate 70,000 ETH, Time To Buy?

Este artículo también está disponible en español.

Ethereum has largely mirrored Bitcoin in terms of price action and has yet to break out on its own accord in the past few months. According to price data, Ethereum is up by 13% in the past seven days, outpacing Bitcoin’s increase of 5.8% in the same time frame. Behind this interesting increase in Ethereum are some large Ethereum holders who seem to be increasing their holdings.

Notably, on-chain data from multiple analytics platform points to an uptick in activity from Ethereum whales in the past few days. Particularly, Glassnode data suggests large holders of Ethereum have added at least 70,000 ETH into their wallets since the beginning of last week.

Ethereum Whales Spend Big On ETH

The interesting Ethereum whale activity noted above is revealed through on-chain analytics platform Glassnode. As shown in the chart below, the number of Ethereum wallets holding 10,000 ETH or more has experienced a rise in the last 24 hours, increasing to 925 wallets. This marks a gain of about seven new whale wallets that have accumulated a huge number of ETH tokens, up from the 918 wallets recorded on September 18.

    Source: Glassnode

Supporting this trend, additional data from IntoTheBlock (ITB) indicates a surge in activity from addresses holding substantial amounts of Ethereum. ITB tracks these movements through a specific metric that monitors the number and value of transactions exceeding $100,000. According to this metric, Ethereum whale activity has reached over $29 billion in the past seven days. While this figure accounts for both inflows and outflows from whale wallets, the sheer scale of these transactions is notable. Historically, such high levels of activity from large holders tend to be a bullish indicator for cryptocurrencies.

This heightened activity is further reflected in the inflows of ETH into large holder wallets. On September 23, these inflows soared to 515,520 ETH, representing an impressive 440% spike compared to the 95,820 ETH recorded during the previous 24-hour period.

    Time To Buy ETH?

At the time of writing, Ethereum is trading at $2,626. As noted earlier, this is on the back of a 13% increase in the past seven days, prompting Ethereum’s overperformance over Bitcoin for the first time since the beginning of the year. The leading altcoin has mirrored Bitcoin’s movements so consistently that some analysts have questioned its potential for decoupling anytime soon.

Ethereum’s importance in the crypto industry means there’s never a bad time to accumulate more ETH. Ethereum just broke over $2,600 for the first time in September, which is the first step in a sustained move to the upside. The next key target is to break above $2,700 before the end of the month, which could pave the way for a push towards $3,000 in October.

  • Cardano Goes Toe-To-Toe With Ethereum As Whales Scoop Up 120 Million ADA

Cardano Goes Toe-To-Toe With Ethereum As Whales Scoop Up 120 Million ADA

Cardano (ADA) is currently competing with Ethereum in terms of large transaction volume. This is undoubtedly a positive development for the ADA ecosystem, especially since it indicates a wave of accumulation among the token’s large holders

Cardano Matches Ethereum In Large Transaction Volume

Data from the market intelligence platform IntoTheBlock shows that Cardano is witnessing a similar large transaction volume as Ethereum. In the last 24 hours, Cardano recorded a large transaction volume of $6.7 billion, while Ethereum witnessed a large transaction volume of $6.71 billion.

    Related Reading

This development suggests that Cardano whales have been active these past few days as they look to add more tokens to their positions, especially with the market currently on a dip and as these investors anticipate the much-awaited price rally from ADA. Further data from IntoTheBlock confirms this, as there has been an over 15% increase in large holders’ net flow over the last seven days.

    Source: IntoTheBlock

Data from the on-chain analytics platform Santiment also shows that Cardano whales have added to their positions. These investors, wallets holding between 100,000 and 10 million ADA tokens, collectively bought 120 million ADA tokens between July 17 and August 1. These wallets now hold over 5.69 billion ADA tokens.

An increase in whale activity presents a bullish outlook for the Cardano ecosystem. These investors could influence market prices, and these purchases could spark a significant surge in ADA’s price. This will provide a much-needed boost for Cardano, seeing how the crypto token has underperformed since the start of the year.

Cardano has a year-to-date (YTD) loss of over 35% and is one of the most shorted altcoins, thanks to this unimpressive price action. However, Santiment has suggested that a massive turnaround for the crypto token cannot be ruled out since Cardano being heavily shorted increases the “chances of liquidations leading to pumps.” The on-chain analytics platform claimed these liquidations could act as “rocket fuel” for a price rally for Cardano.

What Will Eventually Spark That ADA Rally?

Cardano has failed to enjoy any significant rally despite several bullish developments in its ecosystem this year. The most recent bullish fundamental was the news that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) no longer considers ADA a security following the amendment of its complaint against Binance.

    Related Reading

Meanwhile, the Chang Hard Fork is underway as Cardano transitions to the Voltaire era and ushers in its most advanced governance system. It is worth mentioning that ADA’s price maintained a tepid price movement following the release of node validator software, version 9.1.0, which incorporates the Chang Hard Fork.

As such, Cardano’s price action begs the question of what needs to happen for the crypto token to finally witness that much-anticipated price rally and catch up with the rest of the major cap tokens in terms of YTD gains.

At the time of writing, Cardano is trading at around $0.38, down in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap.

  • Analyst says Ethereum Will Reach $8,000 ATH, But This Needs To Happen First

Analyst says Ethereum Will Reach $8,000 ATH, But This Needs To Happen First

A crypto analyst has predicted that Ethereum (ETH), the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency will surge to new all-time highs around the $8,000 price mark. However, for Ethereum to reach this ambitious price target, the analyst emphasized that the cryptocurrency must fulfill certain key conditions.

Ethereum Road Map To $8,000 ATH

A crypto analyst identified as ‘Bluntz’ on X (formerly Twitter) has expressed bullish optimism for Ethereum’s future outlook. The analyst forecasted that ETH could witness a mega rally to an $8,000 all-time high this market cycle.

    Related Reading

Bluntz shared a video on June 8 via his official X account, highlighting key conditions Ethereum will have to overcome before it can reach a new all-time high around $8,000. The crypto analyst noted that ETH/USD is presently near recent lows, as a result, Ethereum could be getting closer to its lowest point in this current bearish trend.

The analyst disclosed that it was highly unlikely that Ethereum would immediately start surging upwards from its current low point. He emphasized that the cryptocurrency will need to undergo additional downward movement before witnessing a surge to the $8,000 price target.

For Ethereum to begin its road map to the $8,000 all-time high, Bluntz believes that the cryptocurrency must “sweep $2,800, take out the low and reclaim it.” After this, the analyst revealed that a three-wave corrective pattern, termed an “ABC,” will be completed, potentially signaling the end of Ethereum’s downward trend and the beginning of a substantial upward movement.

Bluntz also noted in his video that Ethereum’s ABC wave correction will send the price of the cryptocurrency to $6,000 before pulling back and rallying again to a cyclic top of around $8,000. He expects Ethereum to trade sideways for a while, testing new lows before entering a recovery stage.

Analyst Asserts Ethereum’s Biggest Gains Are Yet To Come

In his post, Bluntz confidently asserted that Ethereum has yet to experience its “big run” in this market cycle. Although the cryptocurrency surged to new highs above $4,000 earlier this year, Bluntz and a few other crypto analysts have predicted more bullish upsides for the cryptocurrency.

One of the primary reasons behind the market’s optimism concerning Ethereum’s price outlook is the upcoming launch of Spot Ethereum Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). Bluntz disclosed in his video that the introduction of Ethereum Spot ETFs will likely trigger a substantial price increase for Ethereum.

    Related Reading

The analyst revealed that various crypto community members have engaged in a hot debate about the potential launch of the Ethereum ETF, expecting it to have a positive impact on Ethereum’s value. However, contrary to belief, Bluntz anticipates a major ETH sell-off, emphasizing that the price of the cryptocurrency will likely drop following the launch of its ETF.

This initial sell-off phase could indicate the shakeout of weaker hands in the crypto market. Following this, Bluntz expects Ethereum to be “bid up heavily,” potentially driving the price upwards.

  • Analyst Says Ethereum Spot ETFs Approval Will See “Animal Spirits” Reignite Crypto – What This Means

Analyst Says Ethereum Spot ETFs Approval Will See “Animal Spirits” Reignite Crypto – What This Means

A crypto analyst has made a rather cryptic prediction, suggesting that the approval of Ethereum Spot ETFs by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) could unleash a new wave of “animal spirits.” This term in crypto is often used to describe an irrational exuberance and optimism that fuels financial markets.

Ethereum Spot ETF To Reignite Animal Spirits

In an X (formerly Twitter) post on May 22, a crypto analyst identified as “the DeFi Villain,” made a bold forecast, anticipating the resurgence of the bull run altcoin season following the SEC’s approval of Ethereum Spot ETF. The analyst revealed that the approval could let loose “animal spirits,” driving renewed demand and positive sentiment in the market and possibly resulting in a bull market.

    Related Reading

The analyst outlined a long list of altcoins that outperformed and experienced remarkable rallies in 2021. These rallies propelled each of their market capitalizations from mere hundreds of millions to billions in the span of a few days and months.

Among the cryptocurrencies highlighted by DeFi Villain, some notable altcoins recorded a massive rise in market capitalization, including Dogecoin (DOGE), THORChain (RUNE), Filecoin (FIL), Binance Coin (BNB), Axie Infinity (AXS), Shiba Inu (SHIB), and others.

According to the crypto analyst, Dogecoin witnessed a 10x increase in one day, in January 2021. While RUNE market capitalization surged from $200 million to $5 billion in just five months.

One of the most remarkable increases was seen in Filecoin which almost reached the current market capitalization of Ethereum. The cryptocurrency had jumped close to a whopping $400 billion during the altcoin bull run in 2021.

Other cryptocurrencies like AXS surged from a market capitalization of $200 million to $10 billion, with its Fully Diluted Value (FDV) topping $43 billion at some point. Additionally, Binance Coin, which was already worth $6 billion in early 2021 and among the top 20 cryptocurrencies, had witnessed a mega 8x pump in 20 days, reaching a staggering $50 billion in February 2021.

Even popular meme coins like Shiba Inu (SHIB) had rallied hard, jumping from $4 billion to $40 billion in less than a month. Ethereum Cash (ETC) also saw its market capitalization rise from $600 million to $17 billion in five months.

These massive surges during the 2021 bull run underscore the potential altcoins have on the crypto market and how insane they can surge once the altcoin season hits and the dominance for Bitcoin shifts to lesser cryptocurrencies.

DeFi Villain has predicted that the final leg for meme coins is likely going to be “Vertical and Brutal,” suggesting that these volatile cryptocurrencies could have another powerful rally to new highs this market cycle.

ETF Approval Nullifies SEC’s Previous Security Claims?

Over the past few months, the US SEC has made claims implying that Ethereum, the second largest cryptocurrency, was considered a security. However following the authorization of Ethereum Spot ETFs, the SEC has finally recognized Ethereum as a non-security.

    Related Reading

Calling the regulator out on this contradiction, Paul Grewal, Chief Legal Officer (CLO) of Coinbase disclosed that if Ethereum which lacks “contractual agreement or undertaking,” is no longer considered a security by the SEC, then Bitcoin (BTC), which operates similarly without the above agreements, should also be a non-security.

Grewal posed a compelling question regarding the classification of 12 other cryptocurrencies, which can be compared to Ethereum and Bitcoin in terms of their non-security treatment by the SEC. The Coinbase CLO disclosed that the implications that these 12 other cryptocurrencies are considered securities despite also lacking contractual agreement or undertaking raises the question about the SEC’s possible lack of regulatory clarity and inconsistent regulatory approach to different crypto assets

  • Why Is The Ethereum Price Up 20% Today?

Why Is The Ethereum Price Up 20% Today?

The Ethereum price has risen almost 20% in the last 24 hours. This is a positive development for the second-largest crypto token, which has been lagging until now. Ethereum’s price surge is believed to be due to several factors, including the potential approval of the Spot Ethereum ETFs

SEC Could Soon Approve Spot Ethereum ETFs

Ethereum has risen on the news that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) could approve the Spot Ethereum ETF applications. Before now, it was almost certain that the Commission would deny these applications. However, the SEC is now open to approving these funds based on Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas’s revelation.

    Related Reading

Balchunas revealed in an X (formerly Twitter) post that he and fellow Bloomberg analyst James Seyffart were increasing their odds of Spot Ethereum ETF approval to 75% (from 25%), having heard that the SEC could likely approve these funds due to “increasingly political issue.” Seyffart also confirmed this development, stating that “things are taking a turn for the better on Spot #ethereum ETF approvals this week. Upping our odds to 75%.”

Seyffart further noted in a subsequent X post that the 75% approval odds relate to the 19b-4 filings, with VanEck’s final deadline coming up on May 23. The SEC will still need to approve the S-1 filings before these funds can launch. S-1 approvals could take up to months, meaning that it could take a while before these Spot Ethereum ETFs go live.

However, that hasn’t stopped Ethereum whales from believing, and this group of investors is another reason why ETH’s price has shot up recently. Data from the market intelligence platform shows that these whales bought over 110,000 ETH ($341 million) between May 19 and 20. This has turned out to be profitable since Ethereum’s price had been priced in on the rumors of a rejection.

Time For Ethereum Price And Altcoins To Make Their Move

With the recent development that the SEC will likely approve the Spot Ethereum ETFs, Ethereum and other altcoins look primed to make significant moves to the upside. Crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe had predicted that the news around the Spot Ethereum ETFs would trigger a rally for Ethereum and altcoins.

    Related Reading

While explaining why he swapped his Bitcoin holdings for Altcoins, Van de Poppe suggested that Ethereum (and other altcoins) would likely see a bullish reversal once the news about a denial of the Spot Ethereum ETFs was out since the crypto token was already priced into this news.

He added that things could even be better if the news turns out to be better than people expect, which is currently the case with the SEC looking increasingly likely to approve these funds.

Meanwhile, crypto analyst Javon Marks predicted that an Ethereum breakout will kickstart the altcoin season. That already looks to be the case, seeing how other altcoins have enjoyed significant price gains in the last 24 hours thanks to the second largest crypto token by market cap.

  • Ethereum Is Not Done: Crypto Analyst Sets New $5,000 Target

Ethereum Is Not Done: Crypto Analyst Sets New $5,000 Target

Ethereum is currently looking to gain a strong footing above the $4,000 price level as bullish momentum continues to dominate. According to crypto analyst Ali Martinez, this bullish momentum could continue and Ethereum could as well reach $5,000 very soon.

Ali Martinez made this known while citing data from IntoTheBlock, noting that the second biggest cryptocurrency still has room to run to $5,000, albeit a small resistance around $4,522 to $4,646.

Ethereum Path To $5,000 Looks Increasingly Clear As Resistance Dwindles

Ethereum’s momentum has been building for weeks amidst a broader crypto market increase, which has seen many cryptocurrencies reach new highs. The price of Ethereum has increased by 53% in the past 30 days alone, leaving investors to wonder how high it can keep going and whether it can follow in Bitcoin’s footsteps and attain a new all-time high.

In a social media post on X, Martinez noted a $5,000 price point is in the books “as resistance thins.” However, a key hurdle remains at $4,522-$4,646, where 600,000 addresses hold 1.63 million ETH. Despite this resistance hurdle, Martinez believes a $5,000 price point is inevitable while noting that the only question left is when this will manifest.

The analyst made this prediction using IntoTheBlock’s “In/Out of the Money Around Price” metric, which tracks the number of holders making money at the current price. Interestingly, the metric indicated that 7.64 million ETH, representing 75.95% of the volume bought between $3,428 and $4,646, are making money at the current price.

Ethereum is trading at $4,058 at the time of writing on the back of a minor correction after reaching a two-year high of $4,084. If bullish momentum continues and ETH can close the week above $4,175, that could pave the way for a quick move to $4,500 and potentially past its current all-time high of $4,891 to set a new one.

Current price action shows Ethereum has created a support around $3,950 during its move up to $4,000. As long as this price level continues to hold, the overall bullish trend remains intact. But a break below $3,920 could signal a deeper correction to $3,800.

Increased blockchain activity on layer-2 networks has pushed gas fees to new highs. As a result, developers are getting ready to roll in a Dencun upgrade, which is supposed to usher in a new era of cheaper fees. The Dencun upgrade is the first change to Ethereum’s blockchain code in over a year.

  • Total ETH Burned Crosses 1.5 Million Ahead Of Ethereum Dencun Upgrade

Total ETH Burned Crosses 1.5 Million Ahead Of Ethereum Dencun Upgrade

The Ethereum Dencun upgrade is fast approaching and there have already been notable developments leading up to it. Besides the price of ETH rising to new two-year highs, there has been a significant increase in the amount of ETH that has been burned so far.

    Over 50,000 ETH Burned

The Ethereum burn, which was brought with the EIP-1559 upgrade, has been ramping up over the past year. The ETH burned from fees on the blockchain quickly crossed the $100 million mark, and has now climbed to a new milestone.

According to Ultrasound Money, a website dedicated to tracking the performance of Ethereum since EIP-1559 was implemented, there have now been over 1.5 million ETH burned. A more accurate figure is 1,502,518.84 ETH at the time of writing, which is more than $5.6 billion at current prices.

The number of burned ETH has also greatly surpassed that of ETH issued, which means that the network has turned deflationary. Compared to the 1,502,518.84 ETH burned, there have been only 1,089,809.20 ETH issued in the same time period. This shows that the supply has not increased despite the new issuance, and ETH already in circulation is being burned as well.

At the time of the upgrade in 2022, the total Ethereum supply was 120,521,245. However, since then, the burn has been slowly eating into this figure and is currently sitting at 120,108,332 ETH. This means that the ETH supply has reduced by 412,706 ETH worth $1.55 billion since 2022.

Ethereum Dencun Upgrade Looms On The Horizon

The Ethereum Dencun upgrade is the latest in a long line of upgrades that have taken place in an effort to make it a better network. This upgrade is expected to come with a number of improvements for the network, including boosting its efficiency and capacity.

It was launched on all testnets last week which is expected to be the final phase before the launch. The launch itself has been scheduled to take place less than a week from now on March 13. Once completed, an increase in block space is expected to follow.

Presently, the ETH price is performing quite nicely leading up to the upgrade. It recently touched $3,900 for the first time since 2022, and while there has been a slight retracement, the altcoin continues to trend high above $3,700 at the time of writing.

  • Ethereum Plans For Dencun Upgrade: Is This The End Of Roll-Ups?

Ethereum Plans For Dencun Upgrade: Is This The End Of Roll-Ups?

Ye Zhang, the co-founder of Scroll, a layer-2 project using zero-knowledge proof, is cautiously optimistic about the upcoming Dencun upgrade. In a post on X, Zhang pointed out Dencun’s potential benefits, particularly the low transaction fees.

However, in the same post, the co-founder highlighted the likely challenges it could present for existing layer-2 scaling solutions using roll-ups.

Dencun Introduces EIP-4844 In Ethereum: What It Means

Ethereum developers plan to implement Dencun in mid-March. Implementing the Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP)-4844 is a big part of this hard fork. With this execution, the proposal will introduce a new “blob-carrying transaction” feature.

What’s unique about these transactions is that they allow users to cheaply attach blobs, which are large amounts of data, compared to traditional Ethereum transactions.

Based on observations from the Goerli testnet, Zhang anticipates blobs to be 3-5 times cheaper than traditional call data on Ethereum. Accordingly, the vast difference means innovative developers can come up with blob-inscriptions. These inscriptions will effectively compete with layer-2 solutions like Arbitrum or Optimism leveraging roll-ups.

This possibility cannot be discounted because, in essence, EIP-4844 aims to reduce layer-2 transactions through blob transactions. Effectively, the proposal means the foundation of Blob inscriptions.

This solution takes a different approach but could take on roll-up platforms if widely adopted. It will be the case if users transacting large chunks of data realize the advantage of going the blob inscription route.

Even so, roll-ups will carry distinct advantages over blob inscriptions. A notable one is the superior scalability of roll-ups. These solutions can inherently process more transactions every second. Additionally, they are secure since they inherit security from the Ethereum mainnet.

    ETH Prices Steady Above $3,800

Still, until after Dencun is implemented, the impact of EIP-4844 will be thoroughly measured. Overall, the Ethereum and layer-2 communities are ecstatic for the upgrade, expecting it to thrust ETH even higher in the current bull run.

Ethereum is trading above $3,800. It has been up by double digits in the past week, and experts are predicting even more gains in the days ahead.

  • Ethereum Outperforms Bitcoin As Institutional Investors Clamor For ETH Exposure

Ethereum Outperforms Bitcoin As Institutional Investors Clamor For ETH Exposure

Reports have revealed that institutional investors are shifting their focus to Ethereum, displaying a preference compared to the largest cryptocurrency, Bitcoin. Despite Bitcoin’s recent rally to over $55,000, Ethereum’s unique features and potential developmental capabilities continue to capture institutional players’ interest.

    Institutions Favor Ethereum Over Bitcoin

On February 24, cryptocurrency exchange, Bybit, published a research report on its users’ asset allocation. The research examined investors’ hodling and trading behaviours, covering the period from July 2023 to January 2024. Bybit’s report also provided valuable insights into investors’ asset allocation across cryptocurrencies such as altcoins, stablecoins and meme coins, shedding light on the specific coins users are currently bullish or bearish on.

According to the research report, Ethereum has unexpectedly emerged as the primary cryptocurrency choice for institutional investors. The report revealed that “institutions are betting big on Ethereum,” allocating more of their funds to ETH compared to BTC.

Bybit has disclosed that the recent rise in interest in Ethereum began in September 2023, when ETH was still trading around $2,000. Subsequently, Ethereum’s market sentiment became more bullish, experiencing a surge in investor interest to about 40% by January 2024. The crypto exchange has confirmed that, as of January 31, ETH has become the single largest cryptocurrency held by institutions.

Bybit’s report also revealed that institutional investors’ interest in Bitcoin began to wane following the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approval of Spot Bitcoin ETFs on January 10, 2024. At the time, Bitcoin had experienced massive selling pressures, resulting in investors trimming their BTC holdings to favour other cryptocurrencies.

The excessive allocation of Ethereum is reportedly attributed to investors anticipating a favourable outcome from Ethereum’s upcoming Decun Upgrade, slated to launch in March 2024.

Notably, Bybit has disclosed that it is still being determined if the recent shift to Ethereum is a short-term manoeuvre or a more prolonged move. However, the approaching Bitcoin halving in April potentially adds a layer of bearish risks, as projections indicate Bitcoin’s significant rise in value to new all-time highs during the halving phase.

ETH price rises to $3,230 | Source: ETHUSD on Tradingview.com

    Retail Investors Think Otherwise

Bybit’s research report also examines the asset allocation trend for retail investors on the cryptocurrency exchange. The report revealed that retail investors are significantly more bullish on Bitcoin than Ethereum, allocating more funds into BTC than ETH despite Ethereum’s recent surge in value.

Over the past week, Ethereum has experienced a substantial hike in its price, jumping over 7% and outpacing Bitcoin, suggesting a potential for a more extensive upward trajectory. At the time of writing, Ethereum is trading at $3,227, reflecting a 4.05% increase in the last 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap.

While Ethereum’s massive rally has successfully elevated the sentiment among institutional investors, retail investors remain less swayed, opting to hold onto or incorporate additional Bitcoin into their diversified portfolio of digital assets.

  • ERC-404 Euphoria Push Ethereum Gas Fees To 8 Month High

ERC-404 Euphoria Push Ethereum Gas Fees To 8 Month High

The new ERC-404 tokens have swiftly taken the spotlight, dominating the cryptocurrency market and consistently attracting interest from investors and traders. This surge in euphoria has led to a substantial increase in Ethereum gas fees, pushing costs to their highest levels in the past eight months.

    Ethereum Gas Fees Skyrocket

Ethereum gas fees have surged to record highs, reaching unseen levels since March 2023, when the average gas price peaked at 101.26 Gwei. The sudden spike in Ethereum gas prices has been attributed to the recent hype surrounding ERC-404 tokens, an experimental token standard that enables native fractionalization of Non-fungible Tokens (NFTs).

Presently, reports from Etherscan, an Ethereum block explorer and analytics platform, reveal that on Friday, February 9, 2024, Ethereum gas fees reached an average gas price of 71.4 Gwei, with a maximum and minimum gas price of 59,956 Gwei and 34.4 Gwei respectively.

This price is the highest Ethereum gas fees have reached since its explosive peak in May 2023, when the average gas price surged to 155.8 Gwei.

Ethereum gas fees are on an uptrend. Source: Etherscan

The popularity of the ERC-404 can be attributed to the Pandora team heralding the unofficial token and taking advantage of its high liquidity. Additionally, various cryptocurrency traders have shown immense interest in the new token, aiming to capitalize on its potential and maximize its liquidity.

One trader recently made $59,000 from the popular ERC-404 token. He revealed that his “secret to making money” was buying and selling the ERC 404 token, MINER, using the high gas fees as an advantage.

The co-founder of Gaslite GG, identified as ‘Pop Punk’ on X (formerly Twitter), has also predicted that introducing ERC-404 tokens will lead to a continuous daily rise in the average Ethereum gas price.

    About The ERC-404 Token Standard

Earlier Thursday, the market capitalization of ERC-404 tokens soared to $296 million, announcing their arrival in the crypto market. The token standard was launched on February 5 and has gained immense traction in crypto.

Although ERC-404 tokens remain unofficial due to the absence of a complete audit and endorsement by Ethereum developers, they have witnessed a significant surge in the days following their launch. One of the prominent ERC-404 tokens, Pandora, recently saw a rise of over 400%.

The experimental tokens have gained widespread popularity due to their unique approach of bridging the gap between fungible and non-fungible tokens for better liquidity and fractionalization.

  • Celsius Dump Triggers Ethereum Dive: $35 Million Sell-Off Sends ETH Price Crashing

Celsius Dump Triggers Ethereum Dive: $35 Million Sell-Off Sends ETH Price Crashing

Celsius Networks, currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings, has engaged in significant Ethereum transactions that are causing ripples within the digital currency landscape.

In the past 10 hours, on-chain analysts at LookonChain detected noteworthy transfers, including a 13,000 ETH deposit ($30 million) on Coinbase and an additional 2,200 ETH ($5 million) on FalconX. These transactions suggest a proactive stance by Celsius in addressing its ongoing financial challenges.

Celsius Sells $125M ETH, Maintains $1.3B Reserve

According to Arkham Intelligence, Celsius sold more than $125 million worth of Ethereum (ETH) coins between January 8 and January 12. The primary goal of this auction is to pay off creditors.

Dune Analytics also revealed a more widespread pattern of redemptions, with over $1.6 billion of staked Ethereum being redeemed during the same period. Since the Shanghai update last year, the amount of redemptions recorded is the highest.

Despite facing financial constraints imposed by the court, Celsius still holds a substantial Ethereum reserve. This reserve amounts to over 557,000 coins in two staking wallets, with a total valuation of approximately $1.3 billion. The size of this reserve adds a layer of complexity to Celsius’ current financial situation and underscores the evolving narrative within the crypto space.

    Source: LookOnChain

As part of its obligations to creditors, Celsius has been actively liquidating its Ethereum holdings. These auctions, aimed at paying off outstanding debts, are integral to Celsius’ bankruptcy proceedings.

    Source: LookOnChain

The market has responded to these Ethereum transactions, resulting in a 4% decline in the price of ETH. The cryptocurrency slipped below the $2,350 mark, raising concerns among analysts, especially as ETH now wavers below its crucial demand zone ranging from $2,380 to $2,461.

Analysts predict that a failure to maintain this level could lead to a potential retreat towards the $2,000 mark.

    Wealthy Investors Trigger Ethereum Profit-Taking

Santiment’s historical data reveals that significant transactions by wealthy investors, commonly known as whales, often trigger profit-taking activities among regular ETH holders. This phenomenon intensifies selling pressure and contributes to price declines.

Meanwhile, decreasing funding rates suggest an underlying optimism in the market, hinting at a possible cooldown in previously overheated perpetual markets. This situation leaves room for ETH to rebound once the selling pressure subsides.

As the bankruptcy drama of Celsius unfolds, the scrutiny on its Ethereum transactions and the resulting market dynamics will persist. Investors and observers are closely monitoring the situation, eagerly awaiting further developments and anticipating the broader implications for both Celsius and the crypto ecosystem.

  • Ethereum Price Crash Looming? Celsius To Unstake $465 Million

Ethereum Price Crash Looming? Celsius To Unstake $465 Million

Celsius Network, the bankrupt cryptocurrency lending company, is gearing up to unstake approximately $465 million worth of Ethereum (ETH) as part of its efforts to compensate creditors. This development follows the company’s bankruptcy filing in July 2022, leaving creditors in a prolonged 18-month wait for financial recompense.

Celsius’s decision to unstake a substantial amount of ETH is seen as a necessary step to ensure liquidity for creditor compensation. The company’s official announcement, made via X (formerly Twitter), highlights the strategic nature of this move:

“In preparation of any asset distributions, Celsius has started the process of recalling and rebalancing assets to ensure ample liquidity. Celsius will unstake existing ETH holdings, which have provided valuable staking rewards income to the estate, to offset certain costs incurred throughout the restructuring process. The significant unstaking activity in the next few days will unlock ETH to ensure timely distributions to creditors,” the announcement reads.

Celsius Responsible For Over 86% Of ETH In Exit Queue?

Blockchain analytics firm Nansen states that Celsius possesses approximately one third of the total Ether in the unstaking exit queue, totaling around 206,300 ETH. This figure translates to a market value of around $465 million. To date, Celsius has already withdrawn over 40,249 ETH.

Tom Wan, an on-chain data analyst at 21.co (parent company of 21Shares), elaborated on the situation, “Over 540k staked ETH (16,670 Validators) are currently withdrawing from the Ethereum Beacon chain. To fully exit and withdraw now, it will require 14.5 days.” The researcher added that 352,000 ETH (54.7%) waiting to be withdrawn belongs to Figment and 206,000 ETH (32%) belongs to Celsius.

ETH waiting for withdrawal | Source: X @tomwanhh

“It is also likely that the withdrawal by Figment belongs to Celsius. Earlier in June, when Celsius redeemed 428.000 stETH from Lido, they have re-staked 197.000 ETH via Figment,” he added. Therefore, Celsius might be responsible for unstaking 86.7% of all ETH in the queue.

    Ethereum Price Crash Looming?

While some investors express concern that the release of such a large volume of tokens from staking could adversely impact Ethereum’s price, others maintain a more composed outlook, believing that the market is robust enough to absorb this additional volume.

Even in the unlikely event that all ETH from the queue is sold, liquidity appears to be strong enough to absorb such a process, which would be gradual rather than sudden. According to Coinmarketcap, the current ETH trading volume stands around $11.35 billion, suggesting that the market could withstand the potential sale of Celsius’ entire ETH holdings without any major ETH price crash. Fear-mongering is therefore superfluous.

After receiving approval for its settlement plan, Celsius has allowed eligible users to withdraw 72.5% of their cryptocurrency holdings, with this option available until February 28. A court document filed in the previous September revealed that approximately 58,300 users possess a total of $210 million in assets, which the court has classified as “custody assets.”

At press time, ETH traded at $2,250. The 1-week chart for ETH/USD indicates that, over the past five weeks, the price of Ethereum has formed a consolidation range. The chart defines this zone with a lower boundary at $2,125, indicated by the red area, and an upper boundary at the 0.382 Fibonacci retracement level, located at $2,441.

  • Bloomberg Experts Forecast Timeline For Ethereum ETF Approval

Bloomberg Experts Forecast Timeline For Ethereum ETF Approval

The journey towards the approval of an Ethereum ETF in the United States has seen a new development yesterday as the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced a delay in the decision for Grayscale’s Ethereum trust conversion into a spot Exchange Traded Fund (ETF). The SEC has stated the need for an extended period to evaluate the proposed rule change, pushing the new deadline Grayscale to January 25, 2024.

In its reasoning, the SEC has reiterated, “The commission finds it appropriate to designate a longer period within which to take action on the proposed rule change so that it has sufficient time to consider the proposed rule change and the issues raised therein.” Notably, the delay comes at a time where the US agency is working with now 13 spot Bitcoin ETF applicants on presumably the final amendments before a January 10 approval.

Timeline For A Spot Ethereum ETF Approval

Despite the latest delay, the crypto community remains optimistic about the future of spot Ethereum ETFs. Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart has suggested that delays are par for the course, tweeting, “Update: As expected Grayscale’s Ethereum trust filing just got delayed. It was due by 12/6/23 so this is completely normal.”

Seyffart also shared a table of all seven spot Ethereum ETF applicants: VanEck, 21Shares & ARK, Hashdex, Grayscale, Invesco & Galaxy, BlackRock, Fidelity and their deadlines. He further hinted at potential approvals by mid-2024, responding to criticisms from Adam Back, CEO of Blockstream, with “Unfortunately I think you’re gonna be really upset by June of next year.”

Spot Ethereum ETF timeline | Source: X @JSeyff

In response to queries about the probability of an Ethereum ETF approval following a Bitcoin ETF, Eric Balchunas of Bloomberg has indicated that the first filers, Ark and VanEck, have strong odds of approval by their final deadline on May 23, 2024, as they are expected to use the same mechanics as spot Bitcoin ETFs, and due to the fact that Ether futures have already received the green light from the US SEC.

Queried about for the odd of a spot Ethereum ETF approval, he remarked, “Not formally yet, but final deadline for the first filers Ark and VanEck is May 23rd so strong odds they approved by then given they’d be using same design as btc etfs and ether futures were Ok’d.”

    The Next Deadlines

The table by Seyffart shows that the next Ethereum ETF deadlines are from December 23 to 26 for VanEck, Ark Invest and Invesco & Galaxy, followed by Hashdex on January 1. Since a spot Bitcoin ETF is very unlikely to be approved by then, delays by the SEC are more than likely for this batch of filings.

Both iShares by BlackRock and the Fidelity Ethereum Fund have their next deadlines on January 25 and January 21, 2024 respectively. These dates are crucial as they could involve either an extension, a request for more information, or a final decision.

But things only get really tense towards the final deadlines for all Ethereum ETF filers, as outlined by both Bloomberg ETF experts. With VanEck poised for May 23, 2024, and ARK Invest for May 24, 2024 and other notable filers like Hashdex Nasdaq Ethereum ETF and Grayscale’s Ethereum Trust Conversion (ETHE) scheduled for decisions by May 30, 2024, and June 18, 2024, respectively, the timeline for potential approvals is taking shape.

  • Analyst Says Ethereum Is Seeing ‘Systemic Buying’, What This Means

Analyst Says Ethereum Is Seeing ‘Systemic Buying’, What This Means

A CryptoQuant Analyst has identified a significant systemic buying trend in Ethereum, suggesting a rising influx of strategic investments into the blockchain network.

Analyst Reveals Ethereum Systemic Buying Trend

A crypto market observer and a contributing analyst at CryptoQuant, Maarten Regterschot has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to publish a systemic buying trend he witnessed in Ethereum. The analyst presented a chart indicating that one or more investors have been engaging in Time Weighted Average Price (TWAP) buying on Ethereum futures.

Regterschot stated that the linear increase in open interest in Ethereum suggests that there has been systemic buying of ETH assets for an extended period of time. He revealed that approximately $700 million has already been added to the market.

“Someone(s) are TWAP-buying on Ethereum futures. This linear growth in open interest indicates systematic buying over a certain period. There is $700 million added so far,” Regterschot said.

Systemic buying in this context involves crypto investments made at regular and periodic intervals. TWAP on the other hand is the measure of an asset’s average price over a specific time period.

This systemic buying trend suggests a growing demand for ETH by investors over a long period. The trend also coincides with the latest Ethereum developments in the crypto space, including the growing applications on Ethereum Spot ETFs and its potential approval by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The analyst has not revealed insights into the motives behind this systemic buying of Ethereum. However, the developments could become a catalyst for a potential bullish momentum for Ethereum (ETH).

    ETH Price Holds $2000 Mark

The price of Ethereum has seen multiple upticks within the last few months, allowing the cryptocurrency to finally cross the $2,000 mark. According to CoinMarketCap, Ethereum’s price is up by 2.3% and trading at $2,062 at the time of writing. Although its overall market capitalization is down by 23.31%, the cryptocurrency has been experiencing a fair amount of price increases recently.

As the potential approval of Ethereum Spot ETFs by the US SEC looms next year, many investors are currently holding their crypto assets as they gear up for a possible bull run. There have also been several optimistic price projections for the ETH token. Some analysts have predicted that the price of the cryptocurrency will reach $2,250 if it succeeds in crossing multiple resistance levels.

Ethereum ETF Race: BlackRock Wants An Ether Spot ETF

BlackRock has joined the Ethereum Spot ETF race as the asset management company has officially applied to the US SEC and is currently waiting for approval.

BlackRock Files For An Ethereum Spot ETF

Following its Spot Bitcoin ETF filing, BlackRock, an American investment company has taken the proactive step by filing an Ethereum Spot Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The asset management company submitted the application on November 15, however, BlackRock has stated it formed the Trust as early as November 9.

According to BlackRock, the iShares Ethereum Trust would be used to facilitate the ownership of Ether through the issuance of shares, allowing investors to own a fractional undivided beneficial interest in the net assets of the Trust.

“The Trust was formed as a Delaware statutory trust on November 9, 2023. The purpose of the Trust is to own ether transferred to the Trust in exchange for Shares issued by the Trust. Each Share represents a fractional undivided beneficial interest in the net assets of the Trust. The assets of the Trust consist primarily of ether held by the Ether Custodian on behalf of the Trust,” BlackRock said in its filing.

Presently, the US SEC has not approved any Ethereum Spot ETF filing as well as Spot Bitcoin ETF applications. The regulatory body has delayed multiple applications to be reviewed from January 2024.

The crypto community has remained enthusiastic that the regulatory agency would eventually approve the pending ETF applications, as this could significantly push the growth and development of the crypto ecosystem as well as the cryptocurrencies involved.

    Ethereum Price Surges

The price of Ethereum is on the rise following BlackRock’s Ethereum ETF filing. The cryptocurrency’s price climbed almost 2% moving to $2,080 at some point following the announcement of the filing.

The sharp reaction has caused a stir in the cryptocurrency community, as investors gear up for a potential bull run if the US SEC gives its official authorization of Ethereum Spot ETFs.

The price of Bitcoin has also been growing steadily as new companies apply for Spot Bitcoin ETFs. Currently, Bitcoin’s price is trading at $36,408, while ETH is down from its initial surge and trading at $1,952.

The crypto ecosystem is presently watching closely for more updates on the US SEC’s ETF filing approvals and the price changes that follow them.

  • Ethereum Bulls May Propel Price To $3,100, Analyst Suggests

Ethereum Bulls May Propel Price To $3,100, Analyst Suggests

Ethereum (ETH), the second-largest cryptocurrency, has seen a significant price increase over the past month. The recent bullish rush in the crypto market, coupled with BlackRock’s involvement, has pushed ETH to its year-to-date high of $2,139.

    Ethereum Outshines Bitcoin And Altcoins

According to market data provider Kaiko, ETH has outperformed BTC and many altcoins in recent weeks, signaling a shift in market dynamics.

Kaiko’s report highlights how ETH struggled to gain momentum over the past year, despite successful upgrades such as The Merge in April.

However, the sentiment around ETH changed dramatically when BlackRock filed for a spot ETH exchange-traded fund (ETF), leading to a reversal in the ETH to Bitcoin (BTC) ratio.

The impact on the market was substantial, with ETH prices surging above $2,000 for the first time since April. Additionally, daily spot trade volumes reached $7 billion, the highest level since the collapse of FTX

ETH’s daily spot trading volume surged to $7 billion. Source: Kaiko

The ETH ETF narrative provided further impetus to the ongoing rally, amplified by improved global risk sentiment and declining US Treasury yields.

The dominance of altcoin + ETH volume relative to BTC has risen to 60%, marking its highest level in over a year. During bull rallies, altcoin volume typically increases relative to BTC.

This surge in demand has also led to rising leverage, as reflected in the recovery of ETH open interest to early August levels. Notably, BTC open interest has declined over the past month due to liquidations on Binance, resulting in the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) outpacing Binance as the largest BTC futures market.

Furthermore, ETH funding rates, a gauge of sentiment and bullish demand, have reached their highest levels in over a year, indicating a significant shift in sentiment. In November, both BTC and ETH 30-day volatility rose to 40% and 50% respectively, following a multi-year low of around 15% during the summer months.

    Crypto Expert Predicts ETH Breakout

Renowned crypto expert Michael Van de Poppe believes that ETH is on the cusp of a significant breakthrough. According to Van de Poppe, if Ethereum manages to surpass the crucial $2,150 resistance level, it could signify the end of the bear market.

Drawing a parallel with Bitcoin’s critical $30,000 barrier, Van de Poppe suggests that breaching this level could pave the way for a substantial rally, potentially propelling Ethereum towards the price range of $3,100 to $3,600.

    Ethereum

However, Ethereum has yet to touch the $2,150 resistance line, as it faces a pre-existing obstacle in the form of its yearly high of $2,139. This pivotal level has halted the cryptocurrency’s bullish momentum, acting as a formidable resistance.

As a result, Ethereum has been consolidating within a narrow range between $2,050 and $2,100 for the past three days.

The forthcoming days will reveal whether Ethereum can overcome its immediate resistance levels and establish a consolidated position above them. Alternatively, it may face a fate similar to Bitcoin, which failed to surpass the $31,000 level for over seven months before reaching its current trading price of $36,000.

  • Ethereum DeFi Activities Rise: Will It Drive A Bullish Price Surge?

Ethereum DeFi Activities Rise: Will It Drive A Bullish Price Surge?

Ethereum, often hailed as the pioneer of smart contracts, has cemented its position as the frontrunner in the world of decentralized finance (DeFi) and blockchain technology.

Recent data reveals that Ethereum was the primary catalyst behind the surge in crypto Total Value Locked (TVL), amassing an impressive 75% of all deposited funds during the past week.

Ethereum’s journey began with the groundbreaking innovation of smart contracts. It was the first protocol to introduce this game-changing technology, enabling the creation of self-executing contracts with predefined rules and conditions.

This innovation laid the foundation for the entire DeFi ecosystem, as it provided the framework for decentralized applications and automated transactions.

One of the most compelling indicators of Ethereum’s continued dominance is the recent surge in decentralized exchange (DEX) volumes.

In the past week, Ethereum recorded a historic milestone, with over $9 billion in transactions settled on its network. This marks the highest weekly volume since mid-June and underscores the platform’s pivotal role in facilitating peer-to-peer trading and liquidity provision.

ETH Price Dynamics And The BlackRock Factor

As Ethereum continues to take center stage in the crypto landscape, the question on many investors’ minds is how this data will impact the price of ETH. Currently, according to CoinGecko, Ethereum is trading at $1,798, showing a modest 0.6% increase in the last 24 hours, with a minor 0.9% decrease over the past seven days.

Venture capitalist Arthur Cheong has provided intriguing insights into the potential price trajectory of Ethereum. Cheong, the founder of DeFiance Capital, suggests that ETH could experience a significant rally if a specific scenario unfolds.

He points to BlackRock, a financial giant, and its application for a spot Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded fund (ETF). If BlackRock’s BTC ETF application is successful, it could pave the way for a similar Ethereum ETF application in the future.

“ETH is probably the best six to 12 month long among large-cap assets now when BlackRock applies for a spot ETH ETF six to 12 months down the road,” Cheong wrote on the social media platform X.

ETHUSD currently trading at $1798.3 on the daily chart: TradingView.com

    Implications And Future Prospects

The significance of Ethereum’s role in DeFi and blockchain technology cannot be overstated. Its smart contract functionality revolutionized the crypto space and enabled the birth of countless decentralized applications and platforms. The recent surge in DEX volumes underscores its pivotal role in facilitating crypto trading.

As the crypto world closely watches developments surrounding BlackRock’s potential ETFs, Ethereum’s future appears promising. Should a BTC spot ETF materialize and pave the way for an Ethereum ETF, institutional investors may flock to Ethereum for its ESG attributes and staking yield opportunities.

  • Ethereum Supply On Exchanges Fall To 2015 Levels, 3 Price Targets For Bulls | Bitcoinist.com

Ethereum Supply On Exchanges Fall To 2015 Levels, 3 Price Targets For Bulls | Bitcoinist.com

The Ethereum supply on exchanges has been on a steady decline since the FTX crash happened back in 2022. This was triggered by a growing distrust for centralized exchanges and investors choosing to self-custody their tokens as a result. The constant decline has now seen the Ethereum being held on exchanges fall to the lowest point since its inception.

Available ETH On Exchanges Fall To Genesis Levels

When the Ethereum network was first launched back in 2015, the available ETH on exchanges was very low due to it being a new player. The exchange balances would steadily rise over the next few years as the digital asset gained widespread acceptance and began trading on countless exchanges.

However, there has been a shift in the tide where crypto investors are now choosing to hold their ETH in private wallets rather than leaving them on exchanges. The result of this is now there is only 8.41% of the total ETH circulating supply available on exchanges.

    Source: Santiment on X

On-chain data tracker Santiment points out that this is the lowest that Ethereum exchange balances have been since Genesis in 2015. “Prices crossed $1,850 for the first time since August 15th, and the now 8.41% of $ETH supply on exchanges is the lowest since #genesis in 2015. Whale transactions also hit a 6-month high,” Santiment said in an X post.

The move away from exchanges coincides with a rapid increase in price which suggests that holder accumulation has played a major role in the digital asset’s recovery. And if exchange balances continue to fall, meaning less willingness to sell off ETH and lower sell pressure, the value could continue to soar.

Now that the $1,700 resistance has been cleared by Ethereum bulls, they have begun to turn their attention toward much higher price points. The next significant resistance lies at $1,850 as was demonstrated on Tuesday when the bulls were rejected from that level. So $1,850 is the first price trade foo clear in the bid to establish a stronger bull trend.

Next on the list is the $1,920 level where a major roadblock is expected to happen for the ETH price. This will be one of the last defenses of the bears to prevent a full-blown bull rally and bulls are sure to run into a lot of resistance at this level.

Last but not least is the $2,000 mark which has eluded bulls for the better part of this year. It is arguably the most significant price level for Ethereum right now that could signal an end to the bleed. So ETH bulls will need to reclaim this level from the bears and turn it into support.
