Ellie Leach ‘so excited’ as she makes acting comeback following Corrie exit and Strictly win

Ellie Leach has shared her excitement over her brand new acting gig in the UK tour of Cluedo 2 – a year after quitting Coronation Street.

The TV star shot to fame on the ITV soap playing Faye Windass for 13 years. In 2023 though, fans were gutted when she left the cobbles. Ellie was soon back on screens, taking part in Strictly – which she ended up winning.

Now, Ellie is back on her acting game – and the actress is more than excited to get back to it.

Ellie Leach lands new acting job

Later this month, Ellie is set to make her stage acting debut for the UK tour of Cluedo 2. She will be taking on the role of Miss Scarlett.

The tour will kick off at Richmond Theatre on February 29 and visits theatres across the UK until July. The Strictly champ will star alongside West End actor and TV star Jason Durr, who will play Colonel Mustard.

Speaking of her new role, Ellie said: “After an incredible year I’m so excited to join the cast of Cluedo 2. I am delighted to make my stage acting debut as Miss Scarlett and I can’t wait to work with Jason and the talented cast.”

Cluedo 2 tour will theatres across the UK including Nottingham, York, Bath Brighton, Nottingham, Cardiff and Glasgow, with prices starting from £13.

Ellie and Bobby on Strictly

Ellie is currently taking part in the Strictly live tour, alongside 2023 contestants, including Bobby Brazier. The Strictly Come Dancing stars have sparked romance rumours while on the tour.

Reports claim the pair have enjoyed dates and even a “cheeky snog”. Neither Ellie or Bobby have addressed the rumours surrounding them.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Bobby and Ellie are the talk of the tour. Their friendship has grown and grown, and they’ve been spending nearly all their free time together before and after performances. They’ve been having their meals together, and flirting increasingly openly. The chat on tour is they may have enjoyed a cheeky snog, and will go public with their romance any week now.”

Strictly fans unimpressed as they claim Amanda Abbington has been 'deleted' from 2023 series

Strictly Come Dancing fans were unhappy last night as they argued that Amanda Abbington had been “deleted” from this year’s competiton.

Amanda was paired up with Giovanni Pernice for the BBC One dance contest – but quit in October.

Amid rumours of a ‘feud’ between her and Giovanni, he was said to be “devastated” by the decision to withdraw.

However, he has subsequently participated in group dances on the show. But going into Saturday (December 16) night’s final, Sherlock actress Amanda was not expected to feature as eliminated contestants returned for one last whirl on the Strictly dance floor.

Strictly 2023 final news: What happened to Amanda Abbington?

Towards the end of yesterday evening’s finale, every other 2023 contestant who hadn’t made the last three spoke about their experience of the show in a talking heads segment.

However, Amanda did not pop up on the screen at any point. She did not participate in the group dance for all of the Strictly couples that had already departed the competition, either.

“They’ve missed Amanda Abington off the montage #StrictlyFinal,” one fan said, adding a pair of eyes emoji to their words.

And someone else reacted: “Lol at how Amanda has been totally deleted from #Strictly.”

But while Amanda didn’t appear to make any new contributions to the last episode of the series, it isn’t accurate to suggest she was entirely erased from the final.

‘Amanda and Giovanni were amazing’

That’s because Amanda’s involvement was acknowledged in another segment. It came shortly before the 2023 winners were announced as Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola.

The mention came as two fans reflected on Amanda being part of 2023. Furthermore, the few moments dedicated to Amanda (and Giovanni) seemed to be the same amount of screen time concerning other former contestants in the series.

Over footage of Amanda and Giovanni walking together, one of the fans was heard to say: “Amanda was one of the reasons I started watching the show.”

And another added: “Her and Giovanni were amazing.”

Additionally, there was another, briefer shot of Amanda on screen as the 2023 contestants’ initial introduction was revisited.

But the impression that some social media users were left with included the tweeted thought: “Amanda really said byeeeee #Strictly.”

Someone else made use of six grimacing emojis as they posted sarcastically: “So Amanda Abbington wasn’t in this year’s Strictly obviously.”

While another fan added: “Amanda and Gio getting the BRIEFEST mention in the #Strictly flashback, woulda liked less tbh x.”

Fresh Strictly curse hits as only two couples who’ve topped the leaderboard in Blackpool went on to win the show

It’s finally Blackpool weekend for this year’s Strictly stars – but while the stars may have been itching for the judges to reach for their 10 paddles, any celebrations may have been a little hasty…

That’s because every year the stars of the show that make it to Blackpool run the risk of falling foul of a secret Strictly curse. And throughout the show’s 20-year history, only two couples have been able to survive it.

What is the curse you say? Well, only two couples who topped the leaderboard during Blackpool weekend have actually won the Glitterball trophy.

There’s a new Strictly Blackpool curse in town – but some have escaped it

The first celebrity to break the curse was Jill Halfpenny in 2004. She topped the leaderboard in Blackpool, when the season finale was held in the iconic Tower Ballroom, and also won the Glitterball trophy. The only other person was Kelvin Fletcher 15 years later in 2019.

He danced at Blackpool with Oti Mabuse, topping the leaderboard, and later lifted that season’s trophy with her.

Last weekend, Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin found themselves at the top of the leaderboard. Right behind them were Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola. Both couples have been killing the competition each week and are considered front runners.

After predictions that Layton would receive his first score of 40 this weekend, William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps revealed how this could impact their fate.

“The captivating allure of Blackpool comes with a historical twist. Despite the excitement surrounding Layton’s potential leaderboard-topping performance, it’s essential to note that only two out of the 19 top scorers in the Blackpool specials have gone on to claim the ultimate victory in the series,” he said.

“While Layton may shine bright on the Blackpool stage on Saturday, the history of the show reminds us that this accolade doesn’t always pave the way to lifting the coveted Glitterball trophy. The ‘Blackpool Curse’ lingers as an unwanted dance partner for Layton as the business end of the show approaches,” Lee continued.

Could Ellie and Vito take home the Glitterball trophy?

Currently, Ellie and Vito are the bookies favourite to win. However, last year, Fleur East was paired with Vito and topped the leaderboard during Blackpool weekend. And, spoiler alert, they didn’t win.

Perhaps it’s best if Craig keeps his 10 paddle to himself in future…

Strictly 2023 star Amanda Abbington lets slip Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola are dating with ‘beautiful couple’ comment?

Has Strictly 2023 star Amanda Abbington accidentally revealed that Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola are dating? They certainly have chemistry on the dance floor, but has it extended further than that?

As the weeks have continued, the pair have become frontrunners for this year’s Strictly Glitterball Trophy. On Saturday (November 4), they received a score of 39 after performing an American smooth to Robbie Williams’ Ain’t That A Kick In The Head.

They received a 10 from judges Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke, while Craig Revel Horwood gave them a nine.

Strictly 2023: Are Ellie and Vito more than friends?

Following a successful weekend, Ellie took to Instagram on Sunday night (October 5) to share some thoughts.

Attaching a snapshot of herself and Vito on the dancefloor, the former Corrie actor wrote: “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

She continued: “What a magical night, we are so grateful for all of your support and we’re soooo happy to be through to another week on that Strictly dancefloor.”

‘You are the most beautiful couple’

Racking up more than 35,000 likes, many of Ellie’s followers took to the comments section to congratulate the pair for making it to another week. However, former contestant Amanda might have let slip that Ellie and Vito are dating.

She wrote: “Stunning. So proud of the both of you. You are the most beautiful couple!” with lots of red heart emoji.

While Ellie didn’t interact with the comment, Vito, on the other hand, did give it a like.

So does that mean they are together, or are they just a ‘couple’ paired together as dancer partners? ED! has gone to reps for comment.

Vito Coppola issues apology to viewers for remarks on It Takes Two: ‘I keep making this mistake’

The latest Strictly news has seen dancer Vito Coppola make an apology to viewers after his remarks on last night’s (October 25) It Takes Two.

The 31-year-old star is partnered up with former Coronation Street actor Ellie Leach and has been taking the competition by storm. Last week, the pair performed a Paso Doble and received their highest score to date, 37. They also received their first 10 from judge Motsi Mabuse.

But while making an appearance with Ellie on It Takes Two, viewers couldn’t help but pick up on a certain remark he made.

Strictly news: Vito on ‘fingers on the feet’

During his chat on the It Takes Two sofa with Ellie, Vito referred to toes as “fingers on the feet”. The term stood out so much to a viewer, that they put on their Instagram Story: “Vito just called toes, ‘Fingers on the feet.’ That’s what I’m calling them from now on.”

With English being his second language, the Italian dancer reacted with a sense of humour. He wrote: “Sorryyy I keep doing this mistake. In Italian make sense but in English… [shy monkey face emoji]. I will learn… soon or later.”

Vito and Ellie receive a special message

This weekend (October 28), Vito and Ellie will take on Halloween week by performing a Salsa to Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s iconic hit Murder On The Dancefloor.

Sophie previously participated in Strictly with Brendan Cole in 2013 and came fourth.

As a surprise, the British singer shared a video message to Vito and Ellie, wishing them the best. Sophie explained that Murder On The Dancefloor is a special song to her and believes it will bring them a lot of luck this weekend.

“I can’t wait to see what you do with the song,” she concluded, stating that she will be watching.

Fangirling over the situation, Ellie admitted that she is a huge fan of Sophie’s signature hit. Vito said it gave him goosebumps.
