  • Edmentum Partners With Littera Education to Deliver Personalized High-Impact Summer Tutoring Programs

Edmentum Partners With Littera Education to Deliver Personalized High-Impact Summer Tutoring Programs

    [ad_1]

Programs for Foundational Reading, Algebra Readiness, and Middle & High School Course Support address critical academic transition points

Edmentum has recently partnered with Littera Education to provide educators and students with new high-impact summer tutoring programs for Foundational Reading (K-3), Algebra Readiness (grades 8-9), and Middle and High School Course Support (grades 6-12). In each program, students will experience the individualized care and attention of a Littera virtual tutor while completing lessons from a variety of Edmentum solutions, including Apex Courses, TutorialsCourseware and Exact Path

High-impact tutoring, which is one-on-one or in a small group, relationship-based, data-informed, and aligned to classroom instruction, has been shown to have a positive effect on learning outcomes.

“Many students need a deeper level of support to help get them back to grade level, particularly coming out of the pandemic,” said Jamie Candee, President & CEO of Edmentum. “High-impact tutoring helps students in a highly individualized and targeted manner, particularly in the way we’ve developed these summer programs with Littera.”

These new programs simplify summer support for school districts by providing turnkey options for one-on-one and small group tutoring at school or home, scheduled any time of day. In each session, tutors progress through lessons aligned to student needs as determined by diagnostic assessments or district data. The lesson content that tutors use with students comes from Edmentum’s suite of proven, research-backed learning products. Third-party tier II ESSA evidence confirms that students who use Exact Path, for example, improve assessment scores and demonstrate positive, statistically significant growth. Additionally, a tier II ESSA study showed students who completed Apex Courses performed as well as or better than students participating in traditional classroom instruction on MAP Growth tests.

Students will experience a high-quality audio/video experience with a consistent tutor so they build trust and rapport. This relationship is critical to ensure success, especially at these key academic transition points that predict college and career readiness.

“Combining high-quality content with the support of a caring tutor is a powerful combination for students,” said Justin Serrano, CEO of Littera.

Rebecca Montgomery, assistant superintendent at Freehold Township School District in New Jersey, partnered with Littera to provide Exact Path virtual tutoring to 200 students last summer, with great success. “Our Littera summer program was meaningful and successful. We received positive feedback from parents and saw improvements in students,” said Montgomery.

  • Sisu Now Offers Mental Health Support to Teens and Families Before a Provider is Available

Sisu Now Offers Mental Health Support to Teens and Families Before a Provider is Available

    [ad_1]

TikTok-Style Curriculum, Near-Peer Mentoring, and Family Support Sessions Help Families in Crisis

The mental health crisis among teens is reaching unprecedented levels, and waitlists for licensed providers are dangerously long, leading many teens to the ER to seek care. To address this critical issue, sisu has launched a new platform to provide teens and their families with the tools and support they need before a licensed mental healthcare provider is available.

Sisu offers all of its users a suite of personalized care, which includes:

    • Near-peer mentoring for teens, provided by young adults with training to support teens and respond to potential crisis situations.
    • Therapist-approved curriculum to build mental health skills, delivered in TikTok-style videos featuring real teens.
    • Family support sessions, led by licensed clinicians acting in a coaching capacity.
    • Unique ecosystem approach empowering teens and caregivers to strengthen their relationships and build mental health skills together.

Built on an intentionally low-tech platform, sisu is created to be accessible to all teens ages 13-18 and their families across the United States.  A family subscription starts at $30 per week.

“As a mom, I know that we’re running out of time to give our teens the mental healthcare they need,” says Erin Little, founder and CEO of sisu. “We created sisu to give teens and their families a safe, therapist-approved platform to get the support and tools they need before a licensed provider is available.”

    TikTok-style curriculum and 1:1 support

Upon joining sisu, a teen is matched with a near-peer mentor who provides coaching support through asynchronous messaging. The teen also works through self-paced curriculums delivered through interactive content and short videos of therapist-led sessions featuring real teens.

“So many teens are going on TikTok to seek mental health support, but that can be dangerous because of harmful or misleading content,” says Little. “Knowing that, we designed sisu to deliver therapist-approved mental health content in the digestible, authentic format that Gen Z teens want.”

Caregivers receive equal priority on sisu, where they will meet regularly with a family support specialist. The teen can join those sessions, or the caregiver can use those sessions to focus on their own mental health needs.

Available to schools, organizations, and families

Families can join a cohort focused on “Stress and Managing Anxiety” or “Grief and Loss” as soon as April 1. Sisu, which is FERPA and COPPA-compliant and has been piloted in several schools, is now available for school use. Additionally, sisu is available for organizations as an employee benefit.

Open English Launches Free Online English Proficiency Test to Advance English-Learning in the United States

    [ad_1]

Test to benefit around 42 million non-English household speakers in accessing specialized English-language instruction.

    Press Release

    Nov 29, 2022

Open English, the leading English-learning platform in Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market, recently launched a free online English proficiency test to aid interested participants in achieving their English-learning goals. The test, which only takes 15 minutes to complete, provides instant results and includes questions and interactive activities that determine the comprehension skills and English proficiency of each participant.

With around 42 million non-English household speakers in the U.S., a number that’s steadily risen for more than three decades, this test facilitates learning by allowing for specialized instruction alongside peers who share similar proficiency levels. It’s also an important entry point to establishing realistic learning objectives and measuring a participant’s progress.

“Part of what makes Open English such a successful English-learning platform is our emphasis on students beginning their studies at the right level, with the right native-speaking teachers and the right study plan,” explained Andrés Moreno, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Open English. “Our new English proficiency test will make this process even easier, giving students the confidence they need to succeed.”

According to the United States Census Bureau’s American Community Survey Report titled “Language Use in the United States: 2019,” nearly 62% of the U.S. population speaks exclusively Spanish at home. Of those, 14.5% rated their English-speaking ability as “not well,” with 7.3% not speaking English at all. And while the U.S. doesn’t have an official language, English is the most commonly used. Meaning those who lack proficiency may face social, economic or educational roadblocks. Not only do these statistics make Open English’s proficiency test a critical first step in English-learning, it emphasizes the importance of the company’s customized learning solutions for non-English speakers.

Those interested in taking the test and beginning their studies with Open English should visit https://www.openenglish.com/test-de-ingles/.

Pathify Announces Widget Library at EDUCAUSE 2022

    [ad_1]

New solution empowers users to create a unique and interactive dashboard with no dev work required.

    Press Release

    Oct 26, 2022 08:00 MDT

Pathify, an innovative leader in higher education technology, launched Widget Library, a new, groundbreaking capability, at EDUCAUSE 2022. Widget Library fills a dual void that currently exists in higher education by creating a personalized user experience for students without requiring additional development work of the IT department.

Leveraging Recipes, institutions install purpose-built integrations and widgets, allowing users to see and act on the most important information from across systems in one role-based dashboard.

Students are further empowered to personalize their dashboards by selecting widgets from the Library, ensuring the portal remains relevant and useful in their day-to-day lives, increasing the likelihood of driving adoption across campus.

“This space has never seen a hub that brings together complex information from your higher ed ecosystem in intelligent, meaningful ways out-of-the-box,” said Chase Williams, Pathify CEO. “And this is just the beginning. We’ll be adding more Recipes all the time so institutions can connect, simplify and elevate their digital experience.”

Widget Library delivers a configurable, personalized experience giving the institutions and users the ability to configure the Engagement Hub exactly to their liking.

At release, Pathify has added integration recipes for:

    • Alerts
    • Balances
    • Calendar integrations
    • Third-party job boards
    • LMS
    • Social media handles
    • Student success
    • Payments

“We have conversations all day about the personalization gap that exists in higher ed. What institutions are really looking for is a way to keep their student portals engaging despite numerous constraints on the IT department,” Pathify CTO Chris Hagan said. “Widget Library is the result of those conversations and we believe the EDUCAUSE audience is perfect for the solution we’re bringing to the market.”

Widget Library will be available for demo at booth #561 during EDUCAUSE from Oct. 26-27.
