    We made this recipe with ground turkey, but it’s delicious with ground beef too. If you don’t want to cut up the cabbage, simply buy a bag of coleslaw and use that. That will save you even more time!

    Unstuffed Cabbage Roll

    This easy unstuffed cabbage roll recipe has all the classic flavors of stuffed cabbage without the work. Simple, hearty, and family friendly.

    Prep Time 15 minutes

    Cook Time 30 minutes

    Total Time 45 minutes

    Course Main Course

    Cuisine American

    • 1 small head of cabbage chopped
    • 2 lbs of ground turkey 85/15 or ground beef
    • 2 14.5 ounce cans diced tomatoes (not drained)
    • 1 8 ounce can of tomato sauce
    • 2 teaspoons of minced garlic
    • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
    • In a large skillet, brown ground turkey with minced garlic.

    • Add remaining ingredients and combine well.

    • Let simmer for 25-30 minutes or until cabbage is is tender.

    I didn’t need to drain the turkey. If you do drain the turkey you may need to add about a 1/2 cup of water to the mixture for some liquid. If you make this with ground beef you will need to drain the grease and the 1/2 cup of water will be needed.
    For a time saver you can use a bag of coleslaw. 
    You can add 1/2 cup of chopped onion to the beef mixture if you like onions. You can serve this over rice if you like.

    Tips for the Best Reuben Casserole

    We think this recipe is best served immediately, but we did find it was okay reheated, and best served warm out of the oven. We looked at other recipes and found that many just added the bread to the bottom of the dish and people complained it was soggy. So we added them to the bottom and the top, and it turned out great. We tossed the bread in butter and loved that addition. It’s best to really drain and rinse the sauerkraut.

    Reuben Casserole

    This easy Reuben Casserole is made with corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and creamy dressing. A comforting dinner everyone will love!

    Prep Time 15 minutes

    Cook Time 30 minutes

    Total Time 45 minutes

    Course Main Course

    • 1 pound deli sliced corned beef cut into strips
    • 1 16 ounce bag or can of sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
    • 6 slices of rye bread cubed
    • 4 tablespoons of butter melted
    • 3/4 cup of Thousand Island Dressing
    • 2 cups of shredded Swiss Cheese
    • Spray a 2 quart baking dish with cooking spray. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

    • Toss cubed rye bread with butter. Spread half of the cubes into the bottom of the baking dish.

    • Next add the corned beef on top of the bread, then add the sauerkraut and then the dressing.

    • Sprinkle half the swiss cheese over the dressing. Next add the remaining bread cubes.

    • Take a sheet of aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray. Cover with aluminum foil, sprayed side down.

    • Cook for 20 minutes. in preheated oven. Remove foil add remaining cheese and cook uncovered for another 10 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.

    If you can’t find a block of Swiss cheese to shred yourself, you can buy the slices and just cut them up, or use them as is. It would probably take about 6. Three for the first layer and 3 for the second.

    Helpful Swap Tips: Ground Beef to Ground Turkey

    If you’re swapping ground turkey for ground beef in these recipes, here are a few simple tips to keep everything just as flavorful and comforting:

    Use a 1:1 swap.
    Ground turkey can be substituted directly for ground beef in equal amounts.

    Choose the right turkey.
    If you want a similar richness to beef, use 85/15 or 93/7 ground turkey instead of the ultra-lean kind.

    Add protein.
    Ground turkey is a leaner meat and is high in protein. If you are looking for a lower fat option then switch the ground beef for ground turkey.

    Add extra seasoning.
    Ground turkey has a milder flavor than beef, so don’t be shy with salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, or your favorite seasoning blend. For example, in the brown sugar meatloaf, when we are making it with ground turkey, we double the seasonings and the sauce. Ground turkey needs the extra boost. So if the recipe you are making has seasoning, we suggest doubling it or if it’s made with tomato paste, you can double that for added flavor.

    Add moisture if needed.
    If using very lean turkey, add 1–2 tablespoons of olive oil or butter while browning to prevent it from drying out.

    We saw this recipe on social media and decided to give it a try because we love KitKat Bars! When we tried them the first time, I didn’t feel like they tasted anything like them… but after they were in the refrigerator longer and had time to really settle, I did feel like it was similar. Either way we all agreed these were absolutely delicious! The taste is great and I really felt they were even better the next day!

    We don’t really recommend any swaps in this recipe, but we do think the longer they are in the refrigerator, the better. Once they have chilled for a bit, you can set them out so they are easier to cut.

    Copycat KitKat Bars

    These are easy to make and are similar to KitKat Bars but I wouldn’t say they are just like them.. but they are very good!

    Prep Time 15 minutes

    Cook Time 5 minutes

    5 hours

    Total Time 5 hours 20 minutes

    Course candy, Dessert

    Cuisine American

    • 1 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1/4 white granulated sugar
    • 1 cup butter
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1/8 teaspoon of salt
    • 1 1/2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 2 teaspoons of shortening
    • 2 cups of Graham Cracker Crumbs honey not cinnamon
    • 90 Club Crackers rectangular butter crackers
    • In a 9X13 pan, place 30 crackers in the bottom in a single layer.

    • In a saucepan on the stove, combine butter, brown sugar and white sugar on stirring often on medium heat until it comes to a simmer, add in milk, vanilla and salt and stir until well combined. Next remove from heat and stir in graham cracker crumbs.

    • Pour half of the sugar mixture over the crackers, next layer with 30 more crackers and pour remaining mixture and top with remaining crackers.

    • Melt chocolate chips with shortening in the microwave, 30 seconds at at time, stirring each time, until pourable. Pour over the crackers and try to spread so the chocolate is even.

    • Refrigerate for 4-5 hours or even overnight.

    • Cut and enjoy.

    One box of club crackers (13.7 ounce) had enough to make this recipe.

    We have always been big fans of pistachios! So this was a great choice and it’s made with a cake mix so it’s different but great and comes together quickly. This recipe makes 2 loaves of bread so it’s perfect to make for a gathering or to simply give your friends or family a delicious loaf of bread.

    SWAPS

    I haven’t tried it, but I am sure you could use a white cake mix in this recipe. If you don’t want to add the glaze to the top, you can leave it off. We used full-fat sour cream, but you could probably use low-fat. I have not tried replacing the sour cream with Greek Yogurt, but it may work.

    This Pistachio Bread is made with a cake mix and makes 2 loaves. It’s so easy and absolutely delicious! Great for any occasion.

    Prep Time 15 minutes

    Total Time 1 hour

    Course bread, Breakfast, Dessert

    Cuisine American

    • 1 13.25-ounce box yellow cake mix
    • 2 3.4-ounce boxes instant pistachio pudding mix
    • 4 eggs
    • ¼ cup olive oil can use vegetable oil
    • 2 tablespoons of water
    • 1 cup sour cream
    • 2 tablespoons sugar
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • ½-1 cup chopped pistachios

    Glaze:

    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Milk as needed
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, add the cake mix, pudding mix, oil, eggs, water, and sour cream until well combined.

    • Gently stir in the pistachios (leaving some back to sprinkle on top) In a separate small bowl, stir together the sugar and cinnamon.

    • Grease two regular-size loaf pans (9X5) and sprinkle the sugar mixture evenly on the bottom and sides.

    • Pour half the batter into each pan, smoothing the top. Sprinkle remaining pistachios on top.

    • Bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the loaves cool completely before adding the glaze.

    • To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and vanilla. Add milk one tablespoon at a time until you reach the desired consistency. Drizzle over the cooled bread.

    We are big fans of simple recipes, and this one is delicious! This recipe is only a few ingredients and tastes great. Its super versatile and you can easily switch up it up with other cheese, etc. This comes together in less than 20 minutes and is a wonderful appetizer. The French bread with the creamy onion mixture is a great combination.

    SWAPS

    We make this with the parmesan cheese that comes in the green jar, old school like what you would put on a pizza! It really adds great taste to this, but you could always use fresh. I think you could switch it up with different cheese too.

    Onion Cheese Puffs

    These Onion Cheese Puffs are so simple to make, only 5 ingredients and a wonderful appetizer. You can make these in under 20 minutes.

    Prep Time 5 minutes

    Cook Time 12 minutes

    Total Time 17 minutes

    Course Appetizer, bread

    Cuisine American

    • 1 cup mayonnaise
    • 1/2 cup sour cream
    • 1/2 cup chopped green onions can use regular onions
    • 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese the kind in the green topped jar
    • 1 loaf French bread can use whatever bread you like
    • Mix mayonnaise, sour cream, onions and Parmesan cheese together in a bowl.

    • Slice bread and slather each piece with the mixture. Sprinkle a little more cheese on top of each slice.

    • Bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 12 minutes.

    • Makes about 12.

    Could add salt and pepper or chopped basil on top of each slice.

    Chicken Corn Soup

    This Chicken Corn Soup is hearty and delicious. Great on a cold day and perfect for any gathering. Loaded with flavor and super versatile.

    Course Main Course, Soup

    Cuisine American

    • 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
    • 2 celery stalks sliced
    • 1 onion medium size, sliced thin
    • 2 carrots peeled and chopped
    • 3 tablespoons of minced garlic
    • 3 chicken breast boiled and shredded (or 4 cups of rotisserie chicken)
    • 2 14.5 ounce cans of chicken broth
    • 2 cups of frozen or fresh corn kernels
    • 1 cup of heavy cream
    • ½ teaspoon of smoked paprika
    • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
    • ½ teaspoon of salt
    • ½ teaspoon of pepper
    • Melt butter in your soup pot over medium heat, add onion carrots and celery. Cook for about 7-8 minutes until softened, stirring occasionally. Stir in garlic, smoked paprika, thyme, salt and pepper. Cook about a minute.

    • Next add in chicken and chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Reduce to medium-low heat.

    • Add in corn and let simmer for about 15 minutes.

    • Whisk in heavy cream and, let it cook, but NOT boil so it doesn’t curdle.

    • Serve with oyster crackers or saltines and enjoy!

    ❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

    We love easy recipes and we also love onions. My Aunt always said, “Onions are nature’s antibiotic,” and she loved to sauté onions and put them on a baked potato. We seem to always have onions in the house and on a snow day we gave these a try! We love the taste and can’t wait to make them again this summer with burgers!

    SWAPS

    If you can’t find vidalia onions you can use any sweet onions. You can use whatever cooking oil you like; we use canola in this recipe because it fries better.

    ⭐TIP

     I use a large two-tined fork or tongs to dip the onions and to remove them from the skillet. I found this was the easiest way to get them out.

    These onion rings will quickly become a favorite! Made with buttermilk and bread crumbs and the taste is wonderful.

    Prep Time 15 minutes

    Course Appetizer, Side Dish

    Cuisine American

    • 2 sweet Vidalia onions peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup buttermilk could use regular milk
    • 1 egg
    • 3/4 cup plain Panko bread crumbs
    • Oil for frying I use canola
    • Extra salt for cooked onion rings
    • You will need 3 medium sized bowls. Whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt in one. Whisk the buttermilk and egg in the second bowl and the bread crumbs go in the third.

    • Add about 3/4 cup of oil to a skillet. Oil should be deep enough to float onion rings. I like to use canola when frying because it makes a crispier crust. Dip each onion ring in the flour, then milk and bread crumbs last.

    • Drop in hot oil and fry on each side about 30 seconds. Drain on paper towels.

    • Sprinkle with salt to taste while hot.

    • Makes about 2 dozen onion rings depending on the size of your onions and thickness of your onion rings.

    If you can’t find Vidalia onions, any sweet onions will do.

    ❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

    We have always been big fans of our Homemade English Muffins and thought bread might be delicious. We were right, it is wonderful, especially toasted with butter and jelly. This recipe makes 2 loaves, but they don’t rise much, so honestly, it will be perfect for a family or give a loaf to your neighbor!

    BEST TO ENJOY WITH

    We love this bread toasted with butter and jelly, but I really feel like it would make a great French toast too. Also, you can use this to make a delicious egg sandwich; the bread has enough structure to hold up.

    English Muffin BreadEnglish Muffin Bread

    ⭐TIP

    Be sure to sprinkle the pan with cornmeal; this will help prevent sticking. You want it to come out of the pan easily.

    English Muffin Bread

    This English Muffin Bread is easy to make and tastes just like an English Muffin! Great toasted with butter and jelly.

    • 1/2 cup warm water
    • 4 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
    • 1 tablespoon white granulated sugar
    • 5 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
    • 2 1/4 cups warm milk
    • Cornmeal for dusting pans
    • Spray or grease 2 (9×5) bread pans. Sprinkle cornmeal on bottom and sides of pans. In a bowl, combine the 1/2 cup of warm water with the yeast and sugar. Stir. Let sit for 10 minutes or until yeast begins to bubble.

    • In a mixing bowl whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. Add the yeast mixture and the warm milk and mix with a spoon until ingredients are incorporated and wet.

    • Divide ingredients with a spoon adding half the dough to each pan with the spoon. Spread dough out level in the pans. I use the back of a wooden spoon that has been dusted with flour. You can sprinkle the top of the dough with a little more cornmeal if you want.

    • Cover and put in a warm place to rise from 45 to 60 minutes. I heat my oven to 170 degrees, turn off the oven and cover my pans with a dish towel and put in oven to rise.

    • Dough should double in size or come to the top of the pans. It probably won’t rise above the sides.

    • Once dough rises, heat oven to 400 degrees and bake the bread for 25 to 30 minutes until brown on top.

    • Let cool for 10 minutes and remove from pans. Let cool completely before slicing.

    • Makes 2 loaves.

    Bread is best toasted with your favorite jams and jellies.

    Vidalia Onion Pie

    ❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

    We love a sweet Vidalia onion, and this pie really hits the spot. We use a homemade flaky pie crust, and it tastes wonderful. We love the combination of sharp cheddar with this pie! This is a great dish for Meatless Monday, or it can be a great side dish. Super versatile!

    SWAPS

    You can always use a store-bought crust if you want to! We love the homemade but totally understand if you want to save some time. We suggest the rollout kind by Pillsbury. We love the sharp cheddar, but if you want to switch up the cheese, you can. If you can’t find Vidalia onions, you can use any sweet onion.

    ⭐TIP

    This pie needs time to set up and it also reheats well the next day. Perfect to make for a gathering an hour or so in advance. If you can’t find Vidalia onions, you can use any sweet onion.

    Vidalia Onion Pie

    This Vidalia Onion Pie is a favorite.. if you love sweet onions definitely give this delicious dish a try!

    Prep Time 15 minutes

    Cook Time 1 hour

    Course Brunch, Main Course

    Cuisine American

    • 3 tablespoons butter
    • 5 medium sized sweet Vidalia onions (peeled and thinly sliced and separated into rings)
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 cup evaporated milk
    • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
    • 1 teaspoon flour
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco optional
    • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese grated
    • 1 9 inch deep dish pie shell, (can use a bought pie shell or make your own)

    Ingredients for homemade pie crust:

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 3/4 cup Crisco cold
    • 3/4 cup ice water more or less
    • Melt butter in skillet on top of stove. Add onions and cook on medium heat until translucent and starting to brown. I cook mine about 30 minutes stirring frequently. You can add a little more butter if needed.

    • Whisk together in a bowl the eggs, milk, dry mustard, salt, pepper, and Tabasco sauce. Once cooked, stir onions into the egg and milk mixture and pour into pie crust. You do not have to cook the pie crust first before adding the filling.

    • Sprinkle cheese on top. Bake in a preheated 425 degree oven for 20 minutes.

    • Reduce heat to 325 and bake another 20 minutes until brown on top and filling is set.

    • Cool to room temperature before cutting. Makes 1 deep dish pie.

    Instructions for our homemade deep dish pie crust:

    • Combine flour with Crisco and cut the shortening into flour until resembles coarse crumbs. Add salt and ice water and mix with spoon until dough comes together in bowl to make a ball. Put in refrigerator uncovered for 30 minutes.

    • Remove and roll out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Add to pie plate and trim edges to fit your plate. Crimp edges with fingers. Use a fork to prick bottom and sides of pie shell before adding filling.

    Keeps 3 to 4 days refrigerated. Also the time to make this pie does not include the time to prepare the pie crust.

These are the perfect way to start the day and anyone can make these biscuits. We love the addition of blueberries and you can also add a glaze if you like and we have included that recipe in the recipe card!

    We love these biscuits made the way they are and people always ask if they can use milk. Yes, some people use milk, but we highly recommend the buttermilk. The fat content is higher, which just makes the biscuits better.

    Cuisine American

    • 1 stick unsalted butter or 8 tablespoons melted
    • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/3 cup white granulated sugar

    • 1 cup fresh blueberries could use frozen
    • 2 cups buttermilk

    Glaze Ingredients:

    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 3 tablespoons milk more or less
    • Melt butter in 9 x 9 or 8 x 8 baking dish. In a mixing bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and blueberries. Add buttermilk and stir with spoon until dough comes together and makes a ball. Press biscuit dough into pan with melted butter. Cut into 9 squares with a knife. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes until brown on top. Makes 9 biscuits.

    • Can add glaze below or leave it off if you want.

    This vintage recipe for Hot Buttered Cheerios also known as fried cheerios is a keeper.

    ❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

    We read that this recipe was popular in the 70’s and 80’s, so we had to try it immediately! You know how we love old recipes. We tried this one and all agreed.. it’s a winner. The combination of vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar is so good! Plus, these come together in about 5 minutes and are great to enjoy while watching a movie.

    SWAPS

    We used Honey Nut Cheerios in this recipe, but you can use any you like. You can also use any generic brand you like; it will still be good! These are delicious, warm right out of the pan!

    We love these warm right out of the skillet but if you must store them do so in an airtight container.

    These Hot Buttered Cheerios are a great snack on movie night! They come together in less than 10 minutes and only a few ingredients.

    Prep Time 5 minutes

    Cook Time 5 minutes

    Total Time 10 minutes

    Course Appetizer

    Cuisine American

    • 4 cups Honey Nut Cheerios can use any kind of cheerios
    • 4 tablespoons butter melted
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/4 cup white granulated sugar
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • Salt to taste optional
    • Melt butter on top of stove in skillet over medium heat. Stir in vanilla extract and add the cereal.

    • Cook 3 to 5 minutes stirring constantly until some of the cereal pieces are browned and toasted.

    • Whisk together sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Add cereal to bowl and toss. Makes 4 cups

    If using salted butter, you may not want extra salt.

    If you have followed our website for any amount of time, you know we love our pimento cheese, so we are always trying to find new ways to enjoy it. This quiche is one you will make over and over. It also reheats well and that is always a plus. Make this on a Sunday morning and enjoy it for breakfast over the week.

    We love making our own pie crust, but you can easily buy a store-bought one, which will definitely save you some time. You could also use 2% milk in this recipe. I haven’t tried it but you could use the turkey breakfast sausage too.

    Sausage and Pimento Cheese Quiche

    This Sausage and Pimento Cheese Quiche is one you will make over and over again. It’s a great way to start the day and comes together quickly.

    Prep Time 15 minutes

    Cook Time 50 minutes

    Course Breakfast, Main Course

    Cuisine American

    • 1 9 inch pie crust, store bought or homemade
    • 1 8 ounce block of sharp cheddar cheese – coarsely grated
    • ½ pound of pork breakfast sausage cooked and drained
    • 1 4 ounce jar of pimentos
    • 4 eggs
    • 1 cup of whole milk
    • ½ cup of heavy cream
    • ¼ teaspoon of salt
    • ¼ teaspoon of pepper
    • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine the cooked pork sausage, pimentos, grated cheese and add to the pie crust.

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, salt and pepper.

    • Pour mixture into the pie crust over the meat mixture.

    • Place in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until center tests done.

    Texas Toast Pizzas

    These Texas Toast Pizzas are so easy to make and great on a busy night. Super versatile too and everyone loves them.

    Prep Time 5 minutes

    Cook Time 10 minutes

    Course Appetizer, Main Course

    Cuisine American

    • 8 Slices of garlic Texas Toast you’ll find it in the frozen food section of your grocery store
    • ½ cup of pizza sauce
    • ½ cup of diced green peppers
    • 32 pieces of sliced pepperoni
    • ½ cup of shredded mozzarella
    • ½ cup of shredded sharp cheddar
    • Italian seasoning
    • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place the Texas toast on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 2 minutes, then flip the toast and bake for another 2 minutes.

    • Take out of the oven and spread pizza sauce, four slices of pepperoni, green peppers, and cheese on each slice of toast.

    • Sprinkle a shake or two of Italian seasoning over the pizzas and then place back in the oven for 6-8 minutes or until cheese is melted.

    • We like to dip in ranch dressing!

    If you love hand pies, this is a great one to add to the list! Filled with hamburger, sausage and seasonings!

    Cajun Hand Pies

    ❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

    We love hand pies and this one is a true winner! The flaky crust with the meat mixture just really goes together. We didn’t feel these needed to be dipped in anything but a little hot sauce is a great addition! You can also make the sauce in this recipe if you want to add one. It would go great!

    SWAPS

    You could switch out the ground beef for ground turkey if you needed to, but if you do I would add more seasonings to give the turkey a better flavor. You could also just use onion powder if you need instead of onions. We love to make this pie crust, but if you are short on time, you can always just buy a premade roll-out pie crust for a great shortcut.

    You can make the circle for the pies any size you like. Want a bigger hand pie, use a larger circle, want to make these more like an appetizer, use a smaller one!

    Cajun Hand Pies

    The crust and the meat mixture just really goes together. These can be a main dish or an appetizer.

    Cuisine American

    Ingredients for pie filling:

    • 1/2 pound ground beef
    • 1/2 pound pork sausage
    • 1/4 cup onions chopped
    • 1/4 cup sweet green pepper chopped
    • 1/4 cup celery chopped
    • 1 teaspoon minced garlic or 1 clove fresh garlic chopped
    • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning I used our recipe
    • 2 teaspoons flour

    Dough Ingredients for making homemade pie crust:

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2/3 cup cold shortening we use Crisco
    • 3/4 cup ice water

    Egg Wash Ingredients

    • 1 egg
    • 1 tablespoon of milk
    • Combine beef, sausage, onions, green pepper, celery in a skillet on top of the stove. Sprinkle on garlic, Cajun seasoning and flour.

    • Brown all ingredients, remove skillet and let mixture cool.

    • Make your dough for pies using recipe below or you can use 2 store bought 9 inch pie crusts. Add a couple tablespoons of the meat mixture to each round of dough. Fold over and crimp together with a fork.

    • You can brush each pie with an egg wash but this is optional. Spray a baking sheet and bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes until brown.

    • Makes 8 to 10 pies depending on size you make them.

    Pie Crust Instructions

    • Cut shortening into flour until resembles coarse crumbs. Add ice water into the flour mixture and stir together until you can form into a ball in the bowl. Refrigerate dough uncovered for 30 minutes. Remove and roll out to about 1/8 inch thick. Use a bowl, saucer or whatever you have to place on dough and cut out about 6 inch rounds.

    You can fry these in oil about 3 minutes on each side with an oil temperature of 350 degrees. They can also be frozen before or after cooking.

    We have always been big fans of the Arby’s beef and cheddar! So we tried to recreate a slider version, while I won’t say.. it’s a match, it does have a pretty good flavor and we all enjoyed these. Plus they are pretty easy to make and that is always a win! These are a great addition to any gathering!

    SWAPS

    You can use any slider buns you like; we love that the Pepperidge Farm version is already sliced. Also, the dark red French Dressing can be found, but I think regular would work fine, but it will have a slightly different taste. The jar of cheddar cheese sauce, you want it to be the kind that you can pour.

    I found these were really great the day we made them and they also reheated well. The bottom of the bun can get a little soggy since these are loaded with lots of yummy stuff!

    Beef and Cheddar Sliders

    If you love Beef and Cheddars… this is the slider for you! Loaded with cheese sauce and french dressing, these are a hit!

    Prep Time 15 minutes

    Course Appetizer, Main Course

    Cuisine American

    • 1 lb of shaved roast beef deli meat
    • 1 15-ounce jar of Cheddar Cheese sauce
    • 1 package of Pepperidge Farm slider buns
    • 1 cup divided of dark red French dressing
    • 2 tablespoons of melted butter
    • 1 tablespoon of dried minced onion
    • 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
    • 2 teaspoons of dried parsley
    • 2 teaspoons of yellow mustard
    • Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 9X13 casserole dish with non-stick spray. Place the bottom half of the slider buns in the pan.

    • In a medium-sized bowl, add the shaved roast beef and half of the French dressing. Stir to coat the roast beef thoroughly. Spread the roast beef across the slider buns in the pan.

    • Drizzle the remaining French dressing over the meat. Then spread the cheese sauce over the beef. Place the top half of the buns back on the sliders.

    • Mix the seasonings, herbs, and mustard in the melted butter and brush the top of the sliders and down the sides.

    • Cover the pan with foil and bake for 20 minutes.

    • Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes, then serve.

    We love country ham, and in our opinion, Red Eye Gravy has to go with it, served over warm biscuits. There is nothing better! This is a wonderful treat and one we love to enjoy during the holiday season and then we always question why we don’t have it more often! If you love country ham add this recipe to your list.

    WHERE TO BUY COUNTRY HAM?

    We usually get asked this question and we are lucky we haven’t had much problems finding it at our local grocery store. It’s normally in the center isle near the ham or on a rack in that area. It can be kind of expensive around the holidays, which is why we like to make it a “treat”.

    Country Ham and Red Eye Gravy

    • 2 to 3 large slices country ham
    • 3/4 cup water
    • 3/4 cup cold coffee
    • Fry the ham in a skillet on top of the stove.  Remove ham from pan, add water and coffee and bring to a boil for about 2 minutes.  Serve over ham slices or biscuits. (Note:  If the ham does not have much fat on it and is not making any drippings in the pan, add the water before removing the ham and let simmer for about 3 minutes, remove ham and add coffee to water so that the gravy will have a ham flavor).

    We love simple recipes and this one is only four simple ingredients! Plus, it’s probably ingredients that you have on hand, which is even better. This makes a small loaf of bread so it’s perfect for just a few people! It comes together quickly and is great with just about any dish. Add butter, toast it for breakfast with jam or serve it as a side to spaghetti.

    SWAPS

    We like to add sesame seeds to the top, to give it a little texture, but you can absolutely leave those off. You could let it cook for about halfway and then top with some cheese if you like.

    • 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • Toasted sesame seeds optional
    • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    • Combine flour, salt, mayonnaise and buttermilk. Grease an 8 x 4 inch bread pan or spray with cooking spray.

    • Spread dough evenly in pan. If using sesame seeds, sprinkle on top.

    • Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 35 minutes or until browned on top or center tests done.

    • Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove and enjoy!
