Eagles at Buccaneers, Week 4: Live updates and open thread

The 3-0 Philadelphia Eagles will visit the 3-0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a rematch of the Birds’ worst performance of their 2024 season, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EST at Raymond James Stadium.
The Eagles added three players to injured reserve this week, including their top edge defender, Nolan Smith. The Buccaneers will be without star WR Mike Evans, as well as starting RT Luke Goedeke and starting RG Cody Mauch. You can find the Eagles-Buccaneers inactives here.
The Eagles have lost four of five matchups with the Bucs during the Nick Sirianni era. Part of that is because Bucs head coach Todd Bowles has had game plans that have flustered Jalen Hurts. Part of it has also been that they’ve caught the Eagles at vulnerable times.
In 2024, for example, the Eagles were without WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, as well as RT Lane Johnson. During the 2023-2024 playoffs, the Bucs hosted an Eagles team whose season had already been swirling down the toilet for months. As noted in our five things to watch, the Eagles should have some matchup advantages against a Bucs team that has eked by three bad opponents so far this season.

Eagles at Chiefs: Week 2, live updates and open thread

The 1-0 Philadelphia Eagles will face the 0-1 Kansas City Chiefs in a rematch of Super Bowl LIX at Arrowhead Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 EST. The Birds unfurled their Super Bowl banner pregame Week 1. The Chiefs will not be unfurling any banners before their home opener Week 2.
The Eagles have oddly faced the Chiefs each of the last four seasons:
• 2024, Super Bowl LIX: Eagles 40-22
• 2023, Week 11: Eagles 21-17
• 2022, Super Bowl LVII: Chiefs 38-35
• 2021, Week 4: Chiefs 42-30The Eagles will be without TE Dallas Goedert and RB2 Will Shipley, but the the Chiefs have more damaging absences to overcome with WR1 Rashee Rice serving a suspension and WR2 Xavier Worthy out with a shoulder injury. You can find the full Eagles-Chiefs inactives here.
As we noted in our five things to watch, the Eagles will have many of the same matchup advantages in this game that they did in the Super Bowl. Both teams lost defensive starters this offseason, so we’ll see how they adjust.

Eagles gameday open thread: Week 7 at Giants

After coming off an unsatisfying narrow win over the woeful Cleveland Browns, the Philadelphia Eagles will face their first NFC East rival of the season, the New York Giants.
The Eagles and Giants will both be without their star left tackles. Jordan Mailata is out for the Eagles, and the Giants lost Andrew Thomas for the season. The Giants will also be without edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, while the Eagles will be without starting tight end Dalla Goedert. You can find the Eagles’ and Giants’ inactives here.
As we noted in our Eagles-Giants preview, the Giants remain a bad football team, but they are also improved in some ways. They lead the NFL in sacks, and their wide receiver trio of Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Darius Slayton is better than anything they have had in years. On the downside, they struggle to stop the run (as always), and they have major issues along their offensive line (again, as always).

Eagles gameday open thread: Week 2 vs. Falcons

After playing on Friday night in Brazil Week 1, the Philadelphia Eagles will once again be on display on a national stage when they host the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football Week 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.
The Eagles initially listed just three players on their injury report, but the list of players grew to seven, including star receiver A.J. Brown, who is out with a hamstring injury. The Falcons are mostly healthy, at least according to their injury report, although in Week 1 starting quarterback Kirk Cousins appeared to be significantly hampered by an Achilles tear he suffered last season. As we noted in our five matchups to watch, the Eagles’ defensive focus will be on corralling talented running back Bijan Robinson, who the Falcons are likely to lean on heavily this season. The Eagles must tackle well, get the Falcons into long downs and distances, and find a way to make Cousins even more uncomfortable than he already appears to be. The Eagles’ pass rush was quiet Week 1, partly due to the field conditions, but they must do a better job of getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks going forward.
On the other side of the ball, Jalen Hurts had some sloppy decision-making moments against the Packers, which he’ll need to clean up against this inferior Falcons team.
